  • Demo isn't nearly good enough of a killer to justify how hard his shred powers are to use. It's an incredibly unforgiving power as if you miss with it, you're stunned for a few seconds but with none of the benefits of something like Leatherface's where the risk is worth it cause you can down them in one shot.

Against a group of survivors who can dodge reasonably well, Demo is a M1 killer with a poor man's Freddy teleportation gimmick

  • Isn't that NOED? :D

It seems to make people SUPER cranky though...

  • Some Youtuber said that there are killers (specifically M1 killers with no mobility) that are at a huge disadvantage on large levels when survivors bolt as soon as they see the killer and it has now been interpreted as survivors are never allowed to run away because it's toxic and unfair to killers.

So it's The Internet doing what it always does; taking a decent point and stretching it to such an absurd level that it becomes ridiculous and then pretends like that was the original point

  • I uninstalled weeks ago for this very reason. I keep starting the install again and then stopping it and then restarting it and then stopping it and so on as I go back and forth whether I actually want to try again.

I loved playing this game (and I played a LOT) but being killer was just downright miserable more often than it wasn't. Just too many SWF groups who not only want to win at any cost but specifically go out of their way to make it as miserable as possible for the killer. The teams who get you to chase them with their Head On teammates hiding in lockers they run you by, 4 Rotting Oak offerings (or whatever those are called) and hook breaking perks, 4 flashlights with macros so they can turn themselves into walking strobe lights; the list is endless.

I want to give the game another chance as no one does this kind of game but everytime I think about it, I remember that for every actual good game, there are more that just are not fun (in both ways where I either just demolish my opponents or get demolished as described above). Getting the "win or lose by the skin of my teeth" games became as rare as a Dwight sighting outside a locker...

  • Sorry, I tuned out at the "pro-survivor" part. What were we talking about?

  • Friends don't let Friends Dead by Daylight!

  • Never heard of Identity V but that's a shame

These kinds of games are awesome but I'd really like to find one that isn't DBD...

Though maybe the frustrations with this game are just naturally going to occur in every asymmetric game and there's really nothing you can do to "fix it" without completely changing the genre...

I quit the game about threeish weeks ago now and it's been very tempting to join back in. Though if I do break and join again, I'm gonna put myself on the shortest of short leashes in terms of frustration. It would probably be a mistake that I'd regret but you just can't find this kind of genre anywhere :'(

  • I don't know what rank you are/were but that was my big issue with Red Ranks. Every game would end one of two ways

    1. I curb stomp the survivors
    2. The survivors curb stomp me

There never seemed to be any middle ground and neither are very much fun...

If it wasn't intentional at first it is now.

Remember during the Q&A where the animations were changed and BHVR made sure to put into the presentation that you can still teabag using the new animations even showing video of it, and then proceeded to give stats about teabagging while saying that "people don't run into it as often as they think" (I'm paraphrasing here).

@dezzmont hit the nail on the head, worryingly so.

And to BHVR, the optics on that are incredibly bad as either you guys are oblivious, or you guys are intentionally winking at the toxic part of the fanbase.

It sucks too because I really do want to like the game. I haven't played the game in I think two weeks at this point (when I'd literally play the game on a daily basis for hours at a time; a LOT of my free time got devoted to this game) and every day I'm kind of tempted to just try again and just try to make sure I relax more instead and if the game starts to get me, make sure I force myself to back away rather than just playing some more to "power through it".

But hearing it laid out like that just makes me feel...super uneasy about doing that. Whether dezzmont is legit onto something or not, at least in my experience, everything they said matches it to the freaking letter.

Which I guess maybe ultimately I should see as a blessing in disguise. Because my temptation to restart the game dropped a lot after reading what they had to say. It's super depressing because there's really no game like this out there but the frustration was just too much and at least in dezzmont's opinion, that frustration seems to be completely baked into the game itself.

  • If the killer has you dead to rights, there's really no downside.

Worst case is you die anyway (and your item is gone either way). Best case is you get a killer who accepts the survivors "offering" of the item and lets you get away. You lose your item still but you get 5,000 survivor points.

It helps that I am basically aiming for a doctorate in 'Anti-human design' so I have a better vocabulary for it and thus can notice elements of it easier.

Also, to be extra clear because I left this out:

It is highly unlikely a lot of this is deliberately, maliciously planned by BHVR. No one chooses to be a supervillain who cackles saying "That .5% of our playerbase that is vulnerable to intrusive thoughts of worthlessness and shame are an acceptable cost to keeping our poor stupid killers around while catering to survivors."

This sorta thing happens because of economic incentives, its a gradual slide. Part of why DBD survived while other asymetric games don't is because it happened quite a bit by bit, as an accident, rather than launching as a killer bully sim and never getting a stable killer main population. I mean back in DA DAY of the the beta, Trapper could outright trap the only unhook spot, it was a lot more 'even' in ways to be a jerk and survivors had to be a bit more spooked (Until they discovered some infinites, whoops!).

Things 'slid' here, they didn't start here, and people didn't choose to be here. They just made choices that over time resulted in this being the economic model for the game. Little, innocent things like "Well having that final run out is fun and the game suddenly ending because the killer gave up would be anti-climactic' which are true but also conceal something darker behind these choices.

The people at BHVR seem like nice people, and I am super glad this kinda outfit that made a game they are clearly passionate about found massive success, its very rare and in some ways we are lucky this 'indy' game is one of the most popular games on steam, period.

Its just that the space for 'human friendly' design is vastly, VASTLY smaller than designs that are anti-human. And if your going along blind just following what makes you succesful without an overarching 'top down' view your going to end up in a toxic space because maximization tends to be the way to do that.

DBD sorta was shaped by an evolutionary algorithm that tries to maximize paying customers in the ecosystem without completely burning out killers, which results in trying to maximize survivor count at pretty much any cost to the killer play experience that doesn't cause them to quit to the point that survivors can't find games, and maximization algorithms pretty much INEVITABLY create deeply troubling and anti-human designs.

Yeah, I 100% agree that I don't think this was done on purpose at all (if it was, I think even EA would look at it and go "Holy ######### dude, we're evil but that's EVIL evil). But the bottom line is that at this point in the games cycle, at least in my experience, what you stated above is 100% how the game plays right now. Whether designed deliberately or not, that is the reality that this game currently lives in.

I mean it’s a video game, it’s really not that bad other than the ridiculously toxic endgame chat messages you can get.

The main problem is to succeed as a killer you need to know everything. You need to know the maps, you need to have perk knowledge, you need to have a good build. You need game sense, and you need to play solid.

Otherwise the purple/red rank killer experience is 4 gens done in 4 minutes.

But once you have all; that the typical killer experience is nonstop slaughter until you hit good SWFs. It’s just I’m sure a lot of people don’t make it past the hump.

I suppose that might also be the case as by the time I finally decided I was done with the game, the matches went one of two ways:

    1. An absolute curb stomping of a slaughter
    2. A SWF who (if I was lucky) just curb stomped me. Or if I was unlucky, a SWF that would actively do everything in their power to make the game as miserable as humanly possible for me

Either way, that does not make for a fun game. Getting an actual true match where I won or lost by the skin of my teeth became rarer and rarer and rarer. Ultimately one night that was just filled with the jerk SWF squads finally made me realize that I was either bored silly or absolutely miserable for the vast majority of my games.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/233720/mental-health-tips-for-new-players

Hello! I am currently in a master's program (But got a doctorate lined up) for communications with a focus on systematized exploitative systems. DBD, as a game I both enjoy and am familiar with, is frequently something I look at. I also sometimes struggle with mental health issues and copulsive behavior myself, and 'deconstructing' why something makes me feel bad but I still want to play it helps me 'escape' those things, or understand how I can feel less bad.

I hope by explaining this in very meticulous detail I can help you out, because its literally what I want to do with my life.

    --------------------------------------

Let me say right off the bat, DBD's dev cycle and core gameplay loop is VERY toxic in a way that I worry will affect vulnerable people, but in a different way than other exploitative or toxic developments do. It isn't like Fortnite where your getting kids to cyberbully each other and attach a lot of prestige to overpriced artificially limited skins that affects real world interactions and causing them to plunder their parent's cards for V-bucks, instead it solves the asymmetry problem in gaming in an amazingly cruel way.

See, most asymmetric competitive videogames don't work out because it sets the dev up for failure: it splits the player base, one side is more social than the other and is the 'many' and thus is economically attractive, the other is the 'power role' and is solo and thus isn't as economically lucrative but is the unique hook to draw people in to play it. Most games fail because its just not very fun to get clobbered by someone not playing by the same rules as you at all. Like most historical competitive asymmetric games have you ultimately playing the same game in the end, like Starcraft or League is 'fair' because everyone is playing by similar rules and just has different quirks, but heavily asymmetric games tend to fail because either the many doesn't stick around and the game can't grow, or the few don't stick around and the many can't find games and are forced to play the less fun role and thus don't stay.

DBD 'solves' this by doing a few things to condition you to develop an attachment to it in a way that can become very unhealthy. For example? They let the killer absolutely dominate at low low low ranks. This causes your first few killer games to be easy and feel great, before you gradually get lowered down in ranks and find harder and harder players prevents you from instantly realizing the game's design isn't at all about feeling like a powerful killer but instead creating a situation where you gotta bust your ass to get anything as a killer while systems are designed to make playing survivor feel fun, easy, and powerful, and to derive pleasure and enjoyment from essentially cyberbullying someone else (which the devs pretty actively lean into as a selling feature of the game). Survivors don't REALLY want competitive DBD, they want an Ochido (An old member of the streaming community who was FAMOUSLY TOXIC and basically helped sell the game as 'be mean and frustrate someone to no end' as a selling feature) simulator, which causes them to recruit 3 friends to play, who then go on to recruit more friends, and so on. As a bonus, because survivors are more social, they tend to care more about cosmetics, meaning they are more monetizable twice over.

This is why at high ranks survivors outnumber killers by ridiculous margins. At some points in time survivor Qs hit 30 minutes, while killer was at 5 seconds. This meant for every 4 survivors finding a lobby 360 killers found one at that rank, which is uhh... huge, as it means at high ranks at those timeslots there are around 1500 times more survivors than killers. This sounds real bad but as long as the Qs aren't so long survivors quit this is ideal, the devs financially want to stuff as many survivors into the game per-killer as possible. Again, killers are infastructure, survivors are your actual userbase buying content.

The devs work REALLY hard to maintain this dynamic. End Game Collapse is a good example. DBD had a problem where it was a bit 'too much' for survivors to bully the killer by forcing them to run each of them out of the gate one at a time over 4 seperate 2 minute long minimum chases back when the survivors had infinite time to leave. Killers wanted a surrender button, a way to elegantly end a match when it was clear they were getting trashed. However, instead of implementing this relatively simple system, the devs delayed for quite a while in solving this problem because part of the selling feature to the most financially important segment of the playerbase was teabagging at the gate and gloating about your win, forcing the killer to participate in their own loss.

So instead of adding this surrender button, they gave themselves a lot more work creating the end game collapse, which by design didn't let the killer end the game ellegantly even if they used the 'just ######### end it' option: even after opening a gate you had 2 minutes of survivors being able to run around and gloat, because, again, abusive behavior is a key selling feature.

You won't notice this unless your trained to look or you get thrust down in ranks too fast, or if your vulnerable to it and the experience makes you feel so awful its harmful. This is why mid tier killers stick it out: the good games give juuuust enough of a dopamine hit to make them want to stay even though most games stink. Bad survivors stay because the social aspect helps them endure and losing as a solo survivor hurts way less because you just get booted out of the game and find a new one right quick. The game is... fun for killer if your a real ace, but then because the survivor community is deliberately toxic you get verbally abused for using any strategy that works well in this game. Oh, and bonus points for BHVR not using even the most basic 'anti-toxicity' chat filters or automated bans like is industry standard by now, its wild the game has a more toxic community than Dota, almost as if berating the killer at the end of the game is a feature, weird.

Unlike other methods of exploitatively manipulating the psychology of your playerbase, your not targeting vulnerable people. Fortnite WANTS kids who are uniquely anxious about their social status among their peers and prestige to FREAK OUT and buy 600 dollars worth of V-bucks. But DBD doesn't want you to freak out, your just an 'accident' caused by the pressure cooker being a bit too high for you, and your baseline mental state not being ideal. So its... better in that way I guess? Still scummy and gross.

    -----------------------

At the end of the day, its a game. Any transient fun you get from the fun parts offsets the low parts of the game, sure, that is how gamestates and gameplay loops work. But that clearly isn't happening for you.

While I enjoy DBD because I play solo survivor so the fun for me there is challenge rather than being a dick with my friends, and am a good enough killer that the toxic elements don't really work on me, I would never recommend this game to anyone. I don't know if it would affect them like its affecting you.

If you find the joy of striving to be better worthwhile and enjoyable in of itself, of losing itself to be fun, recontextualize the ######### elements as challenges to overcome. If your in a mental state where severe downswings in your control over the game is fine, and you smile when you see someone being a cocky dick and just strive to make THEM look like an idiot so you can humiliate them in turn and flip the script, killer on DBD is fun (Sometimes I pretend to be a bad nurse before going nutso with Devour hope, for example~), and its a worthwhile game.

But if a bad turn of events in DBD is so upsetting (and, again, its DESIGNED TO BE MAXIMALLY UPSETTING to be bodyblocked, or flashlight saved, or whatever. Part of the point is the survivors know how AWFUL it feels as a killer even though they indeed are 'supposed' to do it and its 'fair' and there are ways to avoid it) that your just feeling miserable most games, don't keep playing to chase the good games.

That is a skinnerbox. That is addictive behavior. Recognize that your trying to chase a high and that your hurting yourself to do it, and walk away.

PS: To be clear, I don't think every survivor is toxic, and I don't think its 'toxic' to use the tools you are given, even if they are designed to be as infuriating as possible. But pretending DBD is not economically built on being complete ######### to each other is self-delusion. Both sides have stuff to be upset about in the game's design, but holy crap lets not pretend the Devs aren't doing things to encourage you to be mean to people.

...after playing this game for a year (I started playing when I created my account here, February of 2019) and finally twoish weeks ago had enough, this is so painfully accurate that it physically makes me squirm just a little bit to see it said out loud.

A simple VOTE UP wasn't enough, you deserve some extra kudos for that post.

  • Quit like I did because it won't get any better as you rank up. If anything, it becomes CONSIDERABLY worse as you get to the high levels.

It sucks (especially if you've already spent money on it) but this kind of ish doesn't get any better as you keep playing unfortunately. The game is great but there are a LOT of dumpster fire survivors who go out of their way to make the game as awful as they possibly can for the killer (not just them winning but they actively go out of their way to make your game awful for you).

  • ######### are gonna ######### no matter what you do. You could play the worst killer in the game with no perks and no add-ons and an ######### will find a way to make it your fault for being so cheap and unsporting. If they beat you, they'll be an ######### about it. If they lose, they'll be an ######### about it. If it was a completely neck and neck game of awesome plays by both sides and a great time by all, they'll be an ######### about it.

It's just unfortunate that Dead by Daylight is populated by so many #########.

(Not for the reason you had but still...)

I figure I'll hang around the forum for another few days but I'll likely be ducking out of here too as I don't really want the temptation to come crawling back to this game for the 90000th time to be there and reading about new killers being released might be too much for my weak mind to handle.

Yup. I got 7 friends to play. Two uninstalled after Survivor bullying and two more will play but won't play Killer again.

This is the part where the same people that want faster queue times are supposed to mention turning off end game chat and getting a thicker skin instead of acknowledging that dirtbag Survivor mains are pushing players away.

Funny thing with that too is I'm on console so they can't even have Endgame Chat to scapegoat for me finally deciding to walk away.

Just such weird and twisted thinking that survivors who bully killers think that their actions have nothing to do with the dwindling killer base...

Which is super unfortunate as the game is super cool. It's damn near impossible to find a game that does asymmetric gameplay well and I'm sure for every bully survivor, there are plenty who play with respect and aren't #########. But just too many ######### who use the killers as their personal punching bag and then get shocked pikachu faced when their queue is getting longer and longer and longer for some mysterious reason...

  • @EvanSnowWolf said:

Honestly, it's the way they are treated. I had two friends that I wanted to try this game out, and after a few experiences of being treated like garbage by survivors in the endgame chat they walked away from the game.

    "Trash killer. Uninstall."

    Well, guess what?

    They did.

Survivors: Constantly mock and belittle the killer. Tells killer to uninstall

    Killer: Uninstalls

Survivors: Where did all the killers go?

    :D

wow i totally agree, finally a normal guy saying his opinion like that. Hope the devs will hear that!!!

Honestly, I don't even blame the devs for my issue. This game is designed as more of a party game rather than an e-sports kind of game. But then once you get survivors who know how to take advantage of all the things designed to make the game fun for the casual player, it's inevitable that there will be groups of survivors that min/max their way into being damn near impossible to beat.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Killer is a miserable experience so nobody wants to play. The only reason things changed is because half of the survivors played something else until desync was fixed. Killers should take note that if a large number stop playing in the same period you’ll quickly see changes to the game.

Its funny because survivor queues get longer and longer yet they want more and more second chances, more pallets, more safety, more killer nerfs. They want to have their cake and eat it too.

All of this. There's really only midranks for killers when the game isn't absolutely miserable. When you're brand new, you don't know the tricks you need to stay competitive and when you're at the top, survivors know all the tricks that a killer literally is unable to compete unless the survivors are making mistakes.

So the game has trouble getting killers to stay on board as baby killers get frustrated with the grind and steep learning curve and then eventually the ones that do stick around are killed by a thousand paper cuts as frustration slowly mounts playing against survivors that know how to take advantage of every little thing.

I feel ya. I uninstalled during the fiasco that was the Twins chapter. Now I check the forums here and there to see if it's worth coming back to yet, and BHVR has consistently made it clear that I made the right choice back in December.

I've asked the Discords I'm in to yell at me if they see "Tippy2k2 is playing Dead by Daylight"

I'm sick of this ######### pattern of getting pissed off at this game, shutting it off, playing again, and getting pissed off all over again. I feel like every week I'm making a "I should quit but I'm too ######### stupid to actually do it" post so I'm really hoping this time it actually sticks and I won't be coming back.

But I should stop posting in this particular thread as I'm not looking to hijack someone else's thread to ######### in...

  • You can have my spot as I just uninstalled the game

I'm stupid so I'll probably be back too but this is the first time I've gone through the steps of uninstalling so hopefully having to take the added step of reinstalling will make me realize that it's an awful idea and not do it

Fourth game in a row with some asshat clickity click doing everything they can to make the game miserable for me and I'm just ######### done with it. Good luck with coming back, hope you don't get driven away ASAP by #########.

  • A SWF Bully Squad F'ing around + Blood Warden when they get to find out

    :D

  • I'm getting Error 1008 on my Xbox Series X

I think something done gone broke on the Xbox side (they have that message at the top of the forum about crossplay being disabled too).

  • Right now! I surf The Internet Dot Com when I'm in-between matches

  • Honestly it's almost a coin toss if it's good or bad play to do

(This is from a killers perspective)

I've had times where Victor being on the map was best. I could keep pressure on multiple survivors that way as I could track survivors without being there and could switch to him if I can't find a survivor or if I had more than one person in Victor's range. It gave me crucial information and options.

There have also been times where I'm chasing a hurt person just silently begging for Victor to be crushed. This chase would be over real quick if Victor wasn't on the other side of the damn map...

Unfortunately for you as a survivor, you have no idea which option is best for you in any given situation so it's kind of your call. Personally I'd always lean crush and hope that was the best option but there's always the risk you just helped the killer instead...

  • It's got the same problem as most niche perks have; in the right situation it's Godly but that doesn't happen often.

Against SWF, it's useless as they can just talk. As a Hex, it can easily be broken (and if I'm going to use a Hex perk, there are much stronger ones). If I'm in the situation where I've got multiple people slugged against a team of solos (the few situations this perk shines), I am in such control of the game that it's unlikely I even need the perk to finish the team off.

Granted, I've never really tried out the perk so maybe it has uses beyond what I have listed but the perk just seems like a lot needs to go your way for it to be useful.

  • Deathslinger is already a below average to average killer at the very best. There's really no reason to find ways to make him worse...

It seems to me the big issue with DS is survivors don't adjust how to run from him. Every killer has a strength and weakness to their chasing ability. DSs is he's slow so you keep to tight turns and corners but people act like all they have to do is run to any old loop and then are shocked pikachu when DS just shoots them in the back because they ran around in the open trying to get to one of the big loops.

  • It happens on the Series X as well

It's not nearly as bad as it used to be where you physically had trouble playing the game because it dropped so badly but there is a noticeable chop to the background and camera when you hook someone. Again, it's not awful as it's 100% playable in that state, it just looks and feels....off for lack of a better word.

  • It has the same exact issues that basically all of survivor period has in a perfect perk form.

In the hands of an ok survivor, it can grant them a few seconds of chase. They dodge the killer but have bought themselves only a few seconds as the killer is still on their back.

In the hands of a great player though, it's downright devestating. They get to a Double L window set and loop it for 30 seconds. You finally get your hit and as you kill another 20 chasing them, your hard fought down is here...until they DH into another super loop. Now ANOTHER 30 seconds is down the drain as gens pop left and right.

Like everything about survivor, in the hands of a great player, the killer is screwed. The people saying don't nerf it are those average to good players who don't use it in such an effective manner that it breaks the entire game for a killer.

It's what will always be a problem with this game as it's not designed for the E Sport Super Pro but some survivors are just really good at the game and a killer can't do a whole lot about it except hope the survivor somehow screws it up. Shockingly, that's incredibly frustrating for a killer who can do everything right and still get punished for it...

  • Honestly at this point, I might finally just uninstall

Playing killer is just too damn frustrating. Every single game I either dominate because the survivors are barely sentient potatoes who have somehow risen to Red Ranks or the survivors know what they're doing in which case I have no real chance because a competent group of survivors will wipe the floor with the killer and give them a swirly.

I'm sick and tired of getting so angry with something that is supposed to be fun. Whether it's the game or it's me, ultimately I don't really care as evenly fought matches won and lost by the skin of one teams teeth are rarer than sighting a Dwight outside a locker.

Although I feel like I say this every week so we'll see if my stupidity continues to keep me in or if I finally just uninstall the damn game like I should...

  • I had that happen to some poor bastard on my team. They were getting slaughtered with gens poppin off like champagne at a New Year Party and they couldn't catch anyone.

Finally downs someone and helmets them before the 5th pops. I attempt to draw them away so our teammate could get the dang thing off but she wouldn't even hit me, let alone break off chasing the guy. Other peeps on the team evidently did not like him or something cause they open the gate and leave.

F for the poor Detective Trapp

  • Whether you left because you rage quit or because your power flickered out for half a second making you lose connection means nothing to the four people whose game you just ruined.

It sucks that you're losing connection from something out of your control but if your internet isn't stable enough to play an online match uninterrupted, you shouldn't be playing an online match.

  • I may need to bookmark this page and come back after every few matches as a refresher...

I have the same major issues with anger (frustration mainly triggers it and this game is a lot of things but FRUSTRATION is probably the best way to describe it).

I have broken so much ######### throwing my little temper tantrums and hurt myself in some cases that quitting would almost certainly be my best option. But again, I'm dum so shrug

I'm a 35 year old man FFS, I shouldn't be getting this cranky about some stupid video game yet here we are...

  • You hook the survivors in question. I forget how many you actually need but basically if you want the Jake face, you need to sacrifice like...50 Jakes.

Edit: Googled it, it's 25 sacrifices

  • Attention.jpg

This is all it comes down to. They want to whine and complain about whatever grievance you and/or your team caused but no one is going to give them any attention because no one else cares. So they wait for the four people who MIGHT be willing to give them the attention they so desperately crave.

  • If I stopped doing things I hated, I'm not sure I'd do anything :D

Looking at you golf...and the gym...and my job...and DBD...and watching The Minnesota, well, everything but specifically The Vikings...

    :P

  • You guys stop doing things you hate?

  • My assumption is it's the bathroom below. It's from the first SAW movie and a very similar pool of blood shows up at the end when the twist of the movie happens.

  • Nope

The Hatch opens only if someone unlocks it with a key or there is one survivor left.

So someone must have found a key in a box at some point.

  • I played my first match as killer with it and got super confused. It was a corn level and it was in the corn so I could hear it but couldn't find it. I thought my game was glitching or something but those survivors got a good 30 seconds of free time as I kept wandering in the area trying to figure out what the hell was making that weird noise :D

  • Whether they're not reversible because they're literally not reversible or not reversible because they won't do it seems kind of potato potatoe to me...

  • Or stop doing unhooks right in the killers face

It's absolutely amazing how often a survivor will grab their teammate when I've literally just hooked them and am walking away. Like, can you at least let me take a COUPLE of damn steps brah?

Autodidact, Bamboozle and Surveillance (the best information perk for low mobility Killers, much better than BBQ).

I've starting comboing Surveillance with Oppression on a few killers just to try it out. It's been a really strong combo as I get to watch a generator across the map turn white and stay that way until it regresses all the way (or I get my "The survivor is over here!!!" yellow flag pop up if someone wanders back over there).

  • Surveillance and Blood Warden are my jams. Surveillance because I think the info it gives you is criminally underrated and BW cause "LOL Cocky TBag survivor goes ahhhhhhhh"

  • Either break one of the rules and get banned or just click on the "log out" button and then not come back.

  • I'm honestly not sure. Knowing I have hooked 2 people doesn't really give me any useful information as the next person I drop might have never been hooked yet or they might be on their death hook and about to go into The Entity's cold loving embrace...

I guess it might be a bit of a morale booster if you see the little boxes move up but in terms of useful information, it seems kind of...well...useless.

I've never seen so much nonsense in a single text, especially that a remedy is terrible at making optimization, including the developer who said that even deleted the message and went back, according to that I have XSS, XSX, One X and One S and practically there is no difference between XSX and XSS in DBD, the performance is the same, the graphics are the same ..., only the resolution is different with XSS running at 1440p and XSX running at 4K, but because of the great upscalling to 4K that the XSS has, just with a magnifying glass to see the difference, before saying anything, search ok 👍

Right now there might not be a big difference between the two as games are just being ported over but it is downright wrong to say there is no difference between the two

The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S have a lot in common, but which is for you?

I snipped the important part here but at some point, the lack of power The Series S has versus The Series X is going to bottleneck the performance. Microsoft will then have a decision to make; do they cut the Series S or do they hamstring their next-gen consoles to the lowest possible denominator.

We've seen in the past that Microsoft has been willing to cut their losses on things that have stopped working out (like The Kinect) so I have no reason to believe that eventually, Microsoft will stop making The Series S a requirement for next-gen games.

I certainly could be wrong and I'm not going to pretend like I have all the answers here. But there is an objective difference in power between the two machines and you're gambling on being left behind if you go with the Series S. Maybe the OP will determine they're fine with that, maybe not (and I did specifically state in my post that this was a "in general" response, not specific to DBD. DBD itself may work perfectly fine on both consoles) but I wanted to give them the information to make an informed decision.

They might be perfectly happy with the Series S and be fine with the risk that it will become obsolete (which would likely be at least a few years from now anyway so maybe once The Series S becomes a bit more long in the tooth, A Xbox Series X 1.5 upgrade kind of thing will appear like how we got the PS4 Pro and whatnot this generation and at that point, maybe OP will have more money and be in a better position to pay for the higher level version).

  • Surge is a nice perk but as long as it has the Basic Attack requirement, it's going to be too hamstrung to really be useful in a large chuck of the roster (though it works on Clown and Doc well since they have no powers attack).

I've found myself using Oppression a lot as it's really nice if you can keep pressure on survivors. A lot of survivors have trouble hitting the skill check so it tells you when they're working on a gen or if no one is on it, you might fully regress it before anyone notices.

I personally think they're both fun to play as so I don't think you can go wrong based on what you've said with either.
