Starting to?
I kid, I kid!!!!...(kind of)
Everything has always been the worst thing that has ever happened and everyone is quitting the game in protest every week. The DBD Forum in a nutshell (hell, I've been guilty myself of an angry post or 10 about wanting to quit forever after a bunch of awful games).
The bugs are super annoying and I do think BHVR needs to get on top of those or eventually, the "quitting forever" threats might actually happen. Right now survivors could sit in the bus and there's nothing a killer could do about it because their path literally broke them for killers...
-
Same thing on the Xbox Series X
-
You can adjust the UI now in the settings of the game ("In-Game HUD Scale")
Try that and see if that helps
-
They turned on UI scaling finally so it's actually now the normal sized icons re-setup for 4K resolution
You can change it back if you wish in the settings (There is a "In-Game HUD Scale" option now)
-
The only time I will "slug for 4K" is when I know where that fourth survivor is.
Otherwise I'd rather risk letting them get away then to waste a bunch of time slugging one survivor and playing a game of Hide & Go Seek with the fourth survivor.
-
If it makes you feel better, I'm not all that happy with them either as the killer.
Now I get a match where I feel like a try hard ######### for taking out a hamstrung group of survivors or I get a game that'll take a year and a half as three people just kind of hide and not try because they're already doomed.
-
I'm perfectly fine with it. I like the pictures being added (in the old UI, it was hard to remember which user name was which person. Normally that's not a big deal but if a survivor does something especially heroic to save my ass and they're on the Xbox as well, I like to send them a message after the game but I couldn't always do that because I wouldn't know who was who).
Really the only thing I don't like right now with the UI is Deep Wound. If someone else is wounded (or if I'm wounded), the tiny little bar really sucks to see. It's not the biggest deal in the world but the Deep Wound indicator in the old UI was much better to use to keep track of when Legion was running around with their frenzy stabbiness.
-
It's so nice
Although now funny enough, I've gotten so used to the small skill check circle and nailing Greats on there that I'm having trouble re-adjusting back to the "normal" sized skill check :D
I'm sure I'll get it back within a week or so but it's funny how much the tiny skill check circles sucked until I got used to it and now I have to do it again
-
I don't see why it would have changed
They didn't change the "autoaim" or "aim dressing" or whatever they want to call it. Nothing in this update to my knowledge would have addressed how dumb the killer lock-on swings can get...
-
I'm not really sure how that would fix camping
If it's more likely I'll get myself unhooked while the killer is starring into my eyes while I hang on the hook, they're just going to smack me right back down. If it doesn't help me once the killer leaves, they're not camping me and there's nothing needing to be fixed.
-
I think some of the things are looking better but man, the animations are not one of them and I'm a little surprised they're being praised. The survivors are all super floaty and slow, like everything they're doing is happening under water. It just all looks....off.
Especially running while injured. They look like they're about half a step from crapping their pants and are desperately trying to waddle run to get to the bathroom before the floodgates open and they create a big mess...
I actually do kind of like the new HUD (especially being able to see which character is which user; something I think the old HUD really needed as if a survivor does something extraordinary, I like to be able to message them a thanks or congrats but I often wouldn't know who was who). I think it's going to be one of those things that people will hate initially because people never like change but in a few weeks, no one will talk about again as they get used to it.
-
I actually don't mind the new HUD. I think people are vastly overblowing how bad it is because they just don't like change. Give it a few weeks for everyone to get used to and I'm guessing no one will care all that much anymore.
So far, the "new" maps look pretty nice. I just played The Game and it is 10000000% times easier to see in the damn basement now, which is super.
I also appreciate that now all the UI stuff doesn't look so freaking tiny. Going from the Xbox One to the Series X (and therefore going from 1080 to 4K), everything in the UI and menu and skill checks were tiny. It's nice that they're bigger now.
The animations of the survivors on the other hand look kind of iffy. They feel very floaty, like everyone is doing things through water. It looks very unnatural. Especially running while injured. I swear when you're running while injured, it looks like they've got a Turtle Head poppin out of them and they're desperately trying to run to find a toilet while simultaneously not letting the turd drop out of their pants...
EDIT: I have not tried the "new" killers. I will probably try them out later tonight but based on at least what I read, I think I'll be happy with their changes.
-
Is defending the thing you're supposed to be defending holding the game hostage?
Sounds like a pretty dumb thing to say, does it not?
-
I gravitate to the one shot killers (Oni, Meyers, Ghost face, Leatherface) as I feel like the one shot guys have the higher skill cap (and they always give me a chance to turn things around if you get one clean shot in).
I'll play as anyone though and switch it up constantly. The only three I generally avoid are Billy (I can't for the life of me figure out his chainsaw run), Nurse (console so...enough said), and Hag (nothing personal, just think she's boring). But even then, I'll play as them if I get a daily or if I'm super bored and want to just mess around with something new.
Lately it's been a lot of Plague (new console makes her soooooo much better to play as) and Gunslinger (see Plague). I generally don't expect to win with them as they're both pretty limited for different reasons but they're both super fun to play as so I'll take that over constant 4K any day.
-
I've had it happen on both sides. It's why I'll never give up the game until it is actually over.
It's amazing how some opponents get so cocky when everything goes well but have no idea how to handle it when they get punched in the mouth.

My game also jumps around a lot and lags all over the place. I checked my wifi connection and it says I have full bars. My other games (like Minecraft where I play with other people) do not do that. Is that the same issue (I.e. frame rate)?
Yup, almost certainly frame rate. With all the updates the game has gotten, the last Gen consoles just can't handle the game anymore.
BHVR has claimed they're working on it but it's been over a year without a word. At this point, I'm confident to say BHVRs plan seems to be to just run out the clock now. Focus on the new Gen and just let the old Gen die out as people upgrade rather than attempt to fix any of it...
-
Hey, you have a buddy!

No matter how fast I press A to struggle, I die after only 2-3 seconds. Anyone else having this problem? This has gone on for several days.
Maybe there is more to this than just the craptastic framerate on the last gen systems getting people killed...

I am on XBOX One! Is there a way I can fix that?
If it's Framerate, there is nothing you can do about it.
You can wait to see if others are having this issue too but at least on my Series X, I've had nothing like this. You can always do a Bug Report just in case as I'm just assuming Framerate right now.
-
I have not been
Are you on the Xbox One or Series X?
The Xbox One has been having some serious problems with framerates so you might be getting framerate screwed because the game doesn't register what you're doing when the framerate dies like that...

All it takes is to add Leon and Claire or any of the STARS members as survivors and the bioweapons would have no other choice but to kill the other survivors as well since they'd be potential witnesses.
I guess that works too if you need a reason for why Mr X or Nemesis is running around murdering people but I like my idea of making Dwight a STARS member way more :D

Please take this seriously, I'm trying to help people understand why they shouldn't get their hopes up for things that will never come.
I am taking this seriously because I for one would like BHVR to have a bigger pool of potential killers than "Some human dude/dudette with a knife".
There's no reason why your logic of strengthening or debuffing current killers can't apply to any character we'd want to add to the game. Just because you either lack the creativity or refuse to use it to figure out how to make anyone work in this game doesn't mean BHVR can't do it. There is zero reason why any killer from any medium couldn't potentially be added to the game as long as you, how did you put it, think critically and analyze it.

That's the thing, survivors don't fall asleep. It's microsleep, like they're hallucinating or having a manic episode. He can't outright kill survivors because they can run and fight back. Pennywise is on the same level as the Entity itself, how would a parasitic space god feed off another parasitic space god? Mr X and Nemesis are towering bioweapons that walk through walls, use anti tank weapons and eat grenades and bullets for diner. Even if the Entity got them in the realm, they wouldn't listen because they're programmed to attack specific people. There are rules, limits and logic in the structure and story of the game that limits who and what can be added to the roster even if you don't want to admit it. I'm simply asking you to think about this critically, analyze what makes the game work in a logical way and boil it down to the basics. All survivors are too stupid to escape, all killers are weak to allow survivors a fighting chance.
The Entity debuffs their strength so that they can get stunned by a pallet and reprograms them to either just kill anyone running around or make it so that Dwight has turned into a STAAAAAAAARRRRRRRSSSSSSSsssssssssss member. Dwight's elite locker hiding skills make for an excellent addition to the STARS program and we look forward to him serving with this elite group of cops.
Critically thought and analyzed complete. Mr X and Nemesis are now good to go and can be added to the game at BHVRs leisure.

Removing the limited stalking is the only thing I'd really like to see removed
There's not another killer in this game where his/her power just goes away (the closest is Pig since they have a limited amount of Bear Traps but she can still go into stealth mode and goose survivors not paying attention). There seems to be no real reason for this limitation so I don't understand why it exists.
The closest thing to a good argument I've heard is then a survivor and killer can work together to kill everyone by just giving him T3 all the time but once you have a survivor specifically working with the killer, the game is essentially thrown anyway.

Actually freddy's power was tampered by the entity. Any killers can work but devs just gotta be creative with their powers.
All of this
There are plenty of things in this game that don't make sense even if you don't want to do the "real world" part. Once people are asleep, Freddy could just appear next to them and murder them as his leisure. His powers are basically unlimited once someone has fallen asleep but Freddy somehow works just fine in the game anyway.
Honestly, I could likely do this same thing for any killer (fixing their overpowers or strengthening their obvious weaknesses) but the OPs arguments are all just going to ultimately be "Nu Uh" because for some reason killers being strengthened and/or weakened by The Entity can apply to them if they are currently in the game but for some reason The Entity is unable to strengthen or weaken Pennywise or Mr X or Nemesis to make them work
-
So you're telling me big boy Nemesis or Mr X getting hit by a pallet thrown down by a 120 pound soaking wet lady makes sense but a giant like Oni or really any killer not fully human getting stunned does?
It also makes sense that David, a man who gets into regular bar fights for funsy is somehow unable to overpower Amanda, a 5'3" killer (or at least that's how tall her actress is) who just lifts him up over her shoulders while he kicks and screams like he's a rowdy toddler?
Spoiler Alert; a lot of things in this game don't work if you decide to apply "real world" logic to it.

It's "abusing" if it is an unintended and unfair use of something. Usually when there is little to no effort or risk for an insanely high reward. For example, going for saves with DS/UB. No risk, massive reward.
A lot of people have the mindset of "if I can do it then it's fair." I don't understand it. It just seems like an excuse to play extremely dirty and take zero responsibility.
This
The most obvious example is "offensive" BT. The unhooker grabs someone off the hook and the unhooked charges and body blocks the killer.
There's no way you'll ever convince me that this is not an abuse of a perk as this goes completely against the spirit of what the perk is supposed to do.
"Luckily" I'm experienced enough at the game to understand what they're doing and how to counter it but that doesn't excuse what they know they're trying to pull.
-
Because sometimes the just decides "######### you" and does that :D
It sucks. I've had games where I was dominating only to have the game decide LOL and boot me out. Hell, I even get all my points and whatnot so it's not like the game doesn't know I didn't disconnect but still, I get booted out of my game and I get a DC Penalty :(

If you have time to tap a gen to stop the regression mid-chase, then you can still be tunneled.
I'm sorry that you won't get to take advantage of a dumb mechanic because it'll make your DS go away
-
As others have said many times on the many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many threads about this...
If you have the time to start working on gens or healing people, you were not being tunneled

As a killer, I've found that I can basically just ignore OOO
One of two things happens...
- They play as normal because there's really not much else they can do. I do my best to not look in their direction in case they have some SWF connection so they can't even snitch on my position. You can never completely eliminate it just because you'll accidentally look in their direction at times chasing/looking for others but either way, you can minimize it greatly if you know what you're doing
- They do everything they can to keep getting my attention (T-Bag, clickity clicks, window jumping, lockers, etc). This takes one person away from doing useful things, allowing me to whittle down the rest of their team as they are basically playing down a person since the OOO person is so desperate for attention that they won't settle for just doing their normal survivor job
If they do option 1, it's no different than a normal game. If they do option 2, I'm FAR happier. Anecdotally, I've found it's about a 50/50 coin flip to see which reaction from the OOO I get.

Note: I have a Xbox Series X, not a Series S so this is more of a general recommendation than DBD specifically
I would highly recommend people not settle for the Series S over the X. Developers are already complaining about the limitations that the S gives them (as it has less memory and less processing power so it's not just that it can't play things at 4K like the X can, the system itself is limited).
If developers are already poo pooing the device as limiting and trashing it, it's only a matter of time before it goes the way of the Kinect where it is completely necessary and needed and supported by Microsoft...until it's not.
https://wccftech.com/remedy-developer-expresses-concern-over-xbox-series-s-calls-it-trouble/
Whether the S would help with this specific game, I can't tell you for sure. The game is damn near a brand new game on my Series X (a LOT of the problems I've had with DBD have been fixed with the console upgrade). I don't know if the S would give you that same upgrade since it wouldn't be running in 4K and would likely lose some of the performance upgrades I have with the X but the baby upgrade you'd get with the S would probably be enough to make the game better.

They actually stated that there are a lot less killers at those times on stream, not just more survivors.
oh
Well there goes my theory :D
-
Maybe I'm misinterpreting him here but my understanding isn't that we lose killers when the sun goes down, we GAIN a ton of survivors
So it's not so much "How do we get more killer mains to play at night" so much as "How do we get all these survivors who swarm the game at night to play Killer instead"
I know for myself, I play almost exclusively killer at night because I can get into a game basically the moment I hit the "Join" button but I also don't have anyone I know who plays the game so I'm flying solo no matter which side I'm on.
-
As others have stated, there are too many players who exclusively play only one side (or they play the other side only when forced to kicking and screaming like for Rifts/Daily Challenges).
I've learned so much in terms of strategy and plays because that have helped me be a better killer playing as a survivor (and vice versa). I'd like to think this makes my thoughts on changes a lot less bias but it's amazing how often I'll say X and be called an entitled X main when I'm Red Rank in both Survivor and Killer (though I do play more killer than survivor since as a solo, trying to get a game in the evening as a survivor takes a year and a half give or take).
-
I do my best not to tunnel and whatnot. This information would just help me with that where someone who doesn't care is going to hook them.
It would especially be nice when BPS are in play. I've made it a bit of a personal rule that if multiple survivors use BPS, I do my very best NOT to sacrifice someone as my own little thank you. But I've accidentally done it anyway as I either lost track or mixed up survivors. Something like a counter would be a God send. I get that it's probably a rare thing since this is just kind of my own made up rule but still...
-
100% agree
I do my best not to tunnel and whatnot. This information would just help me with that where someone who doesn't care is going to hook them regardless.

Honestly, while there are a lot of perks that are better and would be more useful, I run Blood Warden on any one shot killer specifically because when it does work against the bully squads, it makes everything so worth it.
Especially the times when the only reason they got BW was because they decided to stick around and mock me. All four were sitting at the gate and could have left at any point but nope, one of you got a little too cute, slid around on a pallet and got yourself caught. "No biggy" you think to yourself, "My bully squad buddies have BT! I got caught but it's not like it's that big of a deal since my buddies will just grab me and We can all lea...wait....why won't the game let me leave?"
It's my favorite when I know they're trying to get me to hit them to slow down the clock. All they get out of me is a NOPE NOD until The Entity comes down to claim what is rightfully theirs...
-
Maybe?
I imagine the biggest issue is so many killers left period. So whether this is enough to get people who have abandoned the game to come back or not remains to be seen. If I ever became smart enough to abandon ship, I'd likely not even pay any attention to the game anymore and would never realize this change happened.
I suppose your best chance is that yes, it will eventually as less new killers quit out of frustration.
-
As others have said, it severely limits the BP I get but primarily, it's just as much unfun to just curb stomp a group of survivors as it is to get a SWF Bully Squad on you. While it's certainly not impossible for three survivors if they're good enough to still pull it off, if someone DCs with 5 hooks left, the other three survivors are severely hamstrung.
It's not fun for those three survivors who are left and it's a big waste of my time as the killer.
-
Lately it has been unfortunately
If it makes you feel better, as a Red Rank Killer it sucks just as much getting the rainbows. Curb stomping the hell out of noob survivors isn't all that much fun...
-
Xbox Game Pass
Looked neat so I grabbed it. I learned how to play by playing.

Oh trust me the frames greatly drop for the survivor as well when they use dead hard, its not just killer.
I use it and sometimes it completely works against me. I dead hard and my frames drop completely and I don't gain any distance and I go down a lot because. I literally lose distance because of it and its not fair. I'm on console too so I feel your pain.
It happens with basically any exhaustion perk. I remember using Lithe and just hoping that this time, the frame rate doesn't crap out and I Lithe my way into a brick wall and just keep running straight into it like those old videos of dumb AI characters...
-
...
It's basically the only killer rift item I have left. I think I might literally have snapped the disc in two (figuratively cause it's a digital download) if after all this time of trying to get that challenge done, I'd have found out it was bugged and it didn't count...
-
With all the updates BHVR has done, the Xbox One/PS4 just can't handle the game all that well anymore unfortunately
And at this point, I'm convinced BHVR is just going to run out the clock and ignore it, figuring people will just start upgrading in the next year or two and then they can just not worry about fixing the "old" game.

They lose points (literally for emblems and indirectly for all the bloodpoints they leave on the table going after three other survivors).
They've tried doing direct punishments like having the clock stop if the killer was within a certain range but all survivors did was abuse it looping their hooked comrades. So face camping has just kind of been accepted because survivors abused the mechanic when a direct punishment was added.
It does suck to be the camped. I do wish there was at least a reward or something for the camped since they are helping the team by keeping the killer rooted...

It's not your fault, this game, like most others is designed to be addictive. You aren't stupid and you most definitely are not the only one who feels/felt this way. I was in a similar situation to what you're in now. I would highly recommend that you take at the very least a break, or better yet, quit the game forever. I loved this game and I still feel some attachment to it, which is why I'm on the forums lol. Anyhow, I stopped playing a few weeks ago and I feel less tense and less uptight. The game had genuinely become an unhealthy addiction for me and it was causing me completely unnecessary stress and anger. Eventually I became so bored and burnt-out that I stopped playing. I reflected on myself and the game and realised that this game is fundamentally flawed. The main objective for survivors is extremely boring, Killer is stressful against competent teams and so many perks are either completely useless, or so good that you're handicapping yourself by not using them. Balance changes are incredibly slow and rarely release any meaningful changes which might massively shake up the gameplay. We're four years into the game's life cycle and we still only have one game mode (or two if you want to count Killer and survivor as being different game modes). That is genuinely laughable. Especially since other games can easily maintain multiple game modes and have at least an adequate level of balance. Meanwhile, DBD is just barely balanced. I understand that due to it's nature as an asymmetrical game, it is inherently harder to balance. In my opinion, that shouldn't be an excuse to just not bother. Behaviour is a multi-million dollar company. They can afford to make more frequent changes and add new game-modes but they just don't do it. At this point it's abundantly clear that the majority of the developers are simply doing the absolute bear minimum. They know they have a monopoly on this type of game, so why try am I right? People will still throw money at them either way. Anyhow this turned into a bit of a rant which I do apologize for. Nonetheless, I hope this inspired you to at least take a break to clear your head. Perhaps then you could come back to the game with a fresh outlook, or better yet, you could just quit the game.
First off, Thank you for the kind words
Weirdly enough though, a LOT of my problems with this game were fixed now that my Series X showed up
So many of my issues with this game are flat out gone. I'm starting to think the Last Gen consoles just couldn't handle all the updates this game has had and I never noticed until I got the upgrade. Things like the frame rate drops, missing survivors with my swing, losing track of survivors cause they just vanished; all issues that are fixed now.
Sure, some issues will never be fixed like SWAT Team SWF groups but even then, it's so much easier to deal with now that I have the proper equipment...
