  • I just hook them and if the fourth finds the hatch, so be it.

It's not worth the time to me to slug #3 and get into a game of hide & go seek with survivor #4 (especially if they circle around and pick up their partner cause now I'm back to hide & go seek without a built in slug timer).

I'm just gonna kill them and let the chips fall where they fall.

  • Honestly, I just want a DC to count as one hook for my BBQ.

Everything else I could take it or leave it. Just let me have my BBQ token if some jerk is gonna DC

You make the game worse by not continuously being part of the solution.

I'm a Killer Main, no matter what my previous games have been like I don't start toxic to the Survivors, even if they had been toxic to me in a previous game. Every game is a fresh start. And I especially don't start toxic to people I've never played against before. But if someone is toxic to me then I'll tunnel and slug them for a bit and not feel too bad about it.

When I play Survivor I'm not toxic to the Killer, even if they are a face camper or tunneler. I don't clicky-clicky or t-bag or vault point or any of that. I don't show toxic behavior, even if they are themselves being toxic.

Being toxic to Killers because Survivors were toxic to you as Killer only keeps the cycle of toxicity going. You have to be better than it.

Being toxic to Survivors because Killers were toxic to you as Survivor only keeps the cycle of toxicity going. You have to be better than it.

You have to be the better person.

    All of this

I think of myself as a nice killer (won't facecamp/tunnel/proxy camp).

If a group of survivors are being a holes, my nice killer instinct will go away (I'll still play smart and not FC or tunnel or whatnot unless it's to my advantage but I will use any trick in my killer bag if strategically advantageous) but for THAT game alone.

There is nothing to be gained for anyone to punish the players in the next game as they didn't do anything...

  • I didn't watch the video (I'm just assuming the survivors were world class awful based on your comments) but to me, this isn't really a point in the games favor either.

I primarily play killer at red rank so I'm well aware that sometimes you get Seal team SWF and sometimes you get a team of toddlers who somehow managed to turn on and start a video game. NEITHER of these games are fun and the game is suffering greatly for it.

Getting used as a virtual punching bag by ST SWF sucks. Being able to sleep walk through a team of sentient potatoes isn't fun. Unfortunately the game is almost exclusively one or the other nowadays.

THAT to me is the bigger problem and a major reason I think the killer population is plummeting at high ranks. When we win, there's no satisfaction as we basically just crushed ants but when we lose, those survivors commonly go out of their way to make it as unfun as humanly possible as winning isn't enough for them, they need to embarrass the killer...

  • A lot of killers have become sick and tired of being treated like a punching bag by red ranks

I've talked about it before that this is almost an impossible thing for the game to fix unfortunately. At lower ranks, survivors need the speed of gens and other things to stay where they're at or they're going to get absolutely curb stomped and destroyed.

However, at high ranks where survivors know all the little tricks and ways to really game the system, a killer is going to lose against four equally skilled survivors. Add in that a lot of these red ranks (or at least enough of them) know this and do everything they can to make sure that they win AND they maliciously go out of their way to make the game as miserable as possible for the killer.

For some strange reason, this has disheartened a lot of killers and caused them to stop playing...

  • I'm super excited. I haven't ever paid full price for DLC but it might change this time. The new AI Zeds feel like they could be a nice shakeup to gameplay this game really needs...

I am a little worried about the new map though. The RPD station is huge in the game and at least from the stream, everywhere on the first and second floor seemed to be present. That's gonna be a huge pain for killers if it's truly as big as the RPD station in RE2...

  • and The Racoon City Police Department as a new map

  • What do you mean? It's an even split between Killer Challenges and Survivor Challenges every time (or at least near it if it's not an exact split, I haven't sat and counted it).

It takes so much effort to report someone it's ridiculous.

I was reporting a killer for body blocking another survivor in a corner for the match. My ps4 for some reason didn't record the whole match, instead the recording started just as I was about to run away from where the dude was trapped with crows. Sent screen shot showing there were gens left with dude blocked from second it showed him at start of match then video from spectating EGC when the killer kept him trapped until timer ran out.

Can't imagine how many people get away with cheating, working with killer, body blocking, etc. because the person reporting didn't record the game or the recording didn't take. I get they want proof but something should be done on their end to record matches.

    All of this

It takes longer to submit a damn report than it does to play a match. It's absolutely bonkers how awful the report system in this game is.

Hell, I would be willing to be my life savings that the majority of players don't realize you have to submit an actual report on the computer like this was 1999 rather than just being able to hit the "Report" button in-game...

  • All you can do is laugh

Yeah survivor, I slaughtered three of you with two gens still undone and you got away cause you found the gen first but sure, GG EZ :D

Kinda sad that i'm more excited to hear about news on optimization than about the Resident Evil chapter 🤣

To be fair, BHVR could release Jason with Candyman with Nemesis with The Flying Spaghetti Monster with Slenderman with FNAF with Pinhead with Chucky with My Little Pony with "Insert your personal wet dream killer" and it wouldn't matter all that much if the game is running so badly that you can't play it...

  • Unfortunately I think BHVR is perfectly content to just run out the clock.

Maybe at some point they had planned on making good on their promise to optimize consoles or maybe it was always BS but it's clear they have no intention of fixing the Xbox One/PS4 issues and are hoping the complaints will just fade away as people upgrade to the Series X/PS5 instead.

  • 972d8ca3b7ce9354d6541fe02f6cca09.jpg

It would be nice if there was a better answer but that's all it is. People are selfish jerks who don't care that they ruin a game for four people as long as THEY get what they want.

  • It's true...

I like to think that I'm a "nice" killer (if I get a unsafe unhook, I'll generally slug the poor bastard instead of hooking them again to at least give them a punishment for the bad play without screwing over the unhooked) and do my best not to tunnel or camp but it's amazing how often these actions get me met with a GG EZ.

I can absolutely understand why someone who started as a nice killer would start leaning more into a Sweaty Tryhard which the survivors then complain about. Some of you survivors need to look a long hard look in the mirror when you wonder where all the "nice" killers went...

Oooh I love unexpected synergy. I was doing the Yui breakout challenge and the person on the killers shoulders had flip flop power struggle.

It was absolutely unexpected. We were both solos and both happened to be on Xbox so we bonded over our shared "Holy #########, did that seriously just happen?!?!" moment.

While this game can be incredibly frustrating at times, these kind of organic moments that you get every so often are why we keep playing :D

  • I had a killer who just got insanely unlucky as I had exactly what was needed for the situation. My fellow survivor is on the ground near the exit gate (probably ten feet away so close enough it's there but not close enough to realistically escape). I am injured and trying to pick her up and I happen to have that needle addon thing on me, which I use on myself before starting to pick her up.

The killer for whatever reason waits for me to pick up the lady instead of just hitting me. She gets up but she happens to have Soul Guard so the killer hits her for wound and she bolts out the door. The killer then swings at me but my needle has kicked in now so I go from injured to full health as they hit me, now allowing me to escape too.

So many things lined up for that play to work but The Entity smiled upon us that game...

Just ignore it and stop taking it so seriously.

I had someone call me a camper yesterday so you know what I did? I said “ok” and proceeded to my next match. People are always gonna whine about something because gamers are extremely whiny. Trying to fight against it is like willing the sun to rise in the west. It ain’t gonna happen.

I've started to just respond with LOL. Either the survivor stops messaging me or they go on a huge whiny rant about whatever "toxic tryhard loser ez" killer action I did. Either way is a win!

But yeah OP, whiners are gonna whine. I'd recommend not responding (or reading it if that's an option!) or responding OK or LOL or LOL OK LOL because then it's funny.

  • Last night I was just curb stomping survivors.

Like...I wasn't even playing all that well (I was competent but I wasn't anywhere near my A Game) but it was like playing when I first started and getting nothing but survivors who hid like scared rabbits anytime my radius came anywhere near them. I would chase their competent survivor for a minute and change, look up, and realize they're still sitting at 5 gens.

A nice ego boost getting a bunch of 4Ks every game but the games were just boring as every team had (at least) one scared bunny potato on their team. I don't even know if I hit EGC in the half dozen games I played.

Twas strange but maybe something is up in the background if others are seeing it...

  • Yes, you should use BPS. I see no reason why you wouldn't. Maybe your eleven minute video gives me a good one but I'm not going to kill eleven minutes of my life watching it.

  • It's like 10,000 spoons when all you need is a key

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

Nope, cause I'm smart enough to stop playing if something is frustrating me.

    I'm not! :D

OP: One of these days one of those nights is going to absolutely break me. I took a break in January after a particularly awful night. For whatever reason, my desire to keep playing this game has been slowly whittling away since then (it wasn't uncommon for me to sink a solid two hours every night after work in this game and now I essentially hop on to do my Dailies and then walk away again) so I imagine it might be one more awful night filled with Seal Team SWF or killers who let you bleed out instead of just hooking you to finish the damn match or whatever griefing jerk coming in to ruin my night to maybe knock me over the edge of uninstalling and not coming back.

It's a fun game but the amount of people who seem deadset on not only winning but actively making your match as absolutely miserable as humanly possible is chipping away at my desire to keep playing...

  • Most of my challenges are complete except for one for the killer and basically a half dozen for the survivor (but they're all the same challenge)

For the killer, it's the "Sacrifice four in the basement" one. I've gotten very close but I'm not a big fan of basement builds or whatnot because I just find it so boring so I try to "naturally" get that one. However, that's almost certainly never going to happen as naturally getting four survivors sacrificed down there through luck/circumstance feels damn near impossible. At some point I might just have to do a basement build, get the challenge, and then not worry about it again.

For the survivors, it's the "Get X number of pallet stuns in one match". At Red Rank, killers just respect the stun too much so it's incredibly difficult to get one stun against many players, let alone 3 or 4 in one match. A lot has to go my way for it to happen.

Out of all the tombs left, there's less than a dozen challenges I haven't gotten so I'm not particularly worried about getting any of the remaining ones done. It would be nice just for the "completionist" in me but honestly it's not a big deal either way.

  • I use Blood Warden specifically for jerk teams

Sure, sometimes some poor innocent bastard gets caught by it to but for the most part, it's almost exclusively used to punish jerk teams. It doesn't come into play very often (to the point where playing it is almost certainly a detriment to me as I'm basically playing with 3 perks for 80% of my games) but the utter F'ing SMUG SATISFACTION I get when I play some jerk Seal Team SWF squad that get themselves caught with under a minute left makes it so very very very very very very very very worth it...

  • I hang in there because I want to give my team the option

If they choose to leave, I 100% support their decision

If they choose to go for the save, I 100% support their decision

I know for me as a survivor, I'm much more likely to go for the cool heroic save that gets us all killed rather than just cut my loss and leave like a smart person because the cool heroic save is interesting where walking away is boring.

  • We can start counting!

    I do so that's one! :D

  • If I have the time, I will do the same exact thing

Not a lot of things irk me enough in this game to go after someone specific out of spite but players who just hide to waste my time hoping the other person gets found first is high on that list. If I'm not looking to just leave the match, I will do the exact same thing and let the person who is hopelessly working on the gens go so I can go murder the person playing Hide & Go Seek...

1 Claude, 1 Cheryl, 2 Bunny Fengs and the Claude and Cheryl were P3

    Sound familiar?

Oh it was a long while ago, I just specifically remember them calling me a tryhard for daring to use a killer I paid for in a game with killers trying to kill people :D

  • I wonder if you played against the SWF I played cause they said the same thing. They can't believe I picked such a meta killer as Oni because playing as Oni is tryhard I guess...?

I also found it funny they called me a sweaty killer as they were a 4 Man SWF with a key and meta survivor perks...

Although they weren't racist so maybe that was a different SWF team in my game :D

  • Jokes on you survivors when I pick up the gun and shoot you in the knee!

This is the only acknowledgment I've seen from them. Almost makes me think it's not limited but more like the Silent Hill charm, just instead of code you find it during EGC. Would hope if it was limited they'd say something just because it would suck if people missed out if it was only a week due to not knowing it existed.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/WWMZPNHVBFH6/20210514-130103-jpg.jpg

Play as killer, open door yourself to start egc, look for gnome while survivors teabag in the exit. I've seen gnome mostly by trees, boxes, rocks, or the smaller stuff to loop around in the open. I personally haven't seen it in buildings or jungle gyms.

Yeah, I'm probably just going to burn a killer attempt at some point to just hunt it down during EGC. Play as Mr Ding Dong Man so I can zip around the map like an invisible road runner and track that little gnome down.

  • I don't get why they haven't said anything about it

I'd have had no idea about it had I not been here. I kept hearing weird chimes at EGC and I had zero idea what the hell was going on. I've yet to see the little bugger (though I only played one game yesterday and a handful of games the day before and it sounds like it started Wed?).

I'm more wondering how long this event is going to be. Is this something I need to dedicate a game or two to make sure I get or is this event a week or so and I can just wait until I organically stumble into it myself?

  • @ShamelessPigMain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2185113#Comment_2185113

So what I'm hearing is slug everybody, I guess that works too.

I suppose you can do that too if you wish

I'd rather just let the one or two or three people escape rather than waste my time desperately trying to keep the key out of play but ultimately it is your call how you want to handle the key being in play.

  • Is it a character you haven't used in a long time or whatnot?

I know I still have some survivors with those on the board just because I haven't gone into their bloodweb since the event ended

    Otherwise IDK :D

  • You're certainly free to do it but I find it isn't all that useful

You're going to do one of two things; eliminate the person with the key but that will make the Hatch spawn faster (so if they were playing with a team or if the solo just pays attention to where that person died, the key is still in play except now you might have made the Hatch spawn) or you're going to focus all your energy on tunneling one person while everyone else hammers the gens and walks away

For myself, I actually play to keep all the survivors alive as long as I can as I don't want the Hatch to spawn until either the end game or as late as possible in the match when everyone is ready to be hung up for their Death Hook.

  • When you say "your favorite killer" do you mean it only works if you play as the killer BHVR chooses, whatever killer you choose most often, or just playing killer period?

I like the idea but honestly it likely needs to be more often. There is a huge gap between survivor pool and killer pool right now and giving killers extra bp for playing literally cost BHVR nothing (they don't need to adjust balance or adjust anything to make killer a little more attractive for people to try and BP isn't worth any kind of real money they'd lose if they gave it away).

Obviously I don't see the numbers they see so maybe it's somehow not as simple as too many survivors, not enough killers but something needs to be done about these queue times before people start to get frustrated with it and leaving...

  • I don't ignore good loopers JUST because they're good loopers but it's amazing how many of them get pissy when they are clearly trying to bait you to chase them to a Double L window or Killer Shack.

I have no issues going after good players but I'm not stupid survivor...

  • More than one place can be a toxic cesspool

Other places arguably being more toxic than DBD doesn't make DBDs community not toxic. I've never had a game like this where I get so many pissy and/or mocking messages thrown my way (and yes before it is asked, I'm 35 so I grew up in CoD and Halo lobbies so it's not that I've never seen "true" toxic gaming groups; we didn't have Xbox Live Parties to shield us back then! You dealt with the screeching 10 year olds or you didn't use a mic).

I imagine that part of this is due to the one on one nature of DBD. Some 10 year old spouting off about banging my mom in a CoD lobby is a kid just talking out loud to anyone listening but DBD has people sending messages directly to me.

I run BW cause it's super fun the 5% of time it comes into play and having keys being able to just skip it is sad to me

Proxy camping and punishing unhookers is about the only thing he's decent at unfortunately, a bit like old bubba.

If you play him normally you're gonna have a bad time.

Maybe that's my problem with him. I find even proxy camping painfully boring, let alone if I tried to do true camping.

Maybe I just need to camp with him and hope for an overly altruistic team. Maybe that's the key to turning The Trickster from stinky and slimy week old garbage into...slightly less stinky and slimy a few days old garbage.

  • @Trickstaaaaa said:

That happens to me haha. I get happy thinking I get a 4k with the trickster, and I'm thinking it's a bunch of upper red ranks. Only to see in endgame it's a bunch purple ranks. Not to say purple ranks players are bad, but most of the time when I play killer vs purple ranks I usually end up getting 3 to 4k.

That's the closest I ever got with him for a 4K (granted, I've basically only been using his powers as I try to get the Adept Achievement before I move along to using the killer proper so had I been using Trickster like a normal killer, I probably would have gotten the 4K since I'd have had some useful perks on instead of his garbage perks).

I ended up getting 8 hooks (got everyone to their Death Hook) but they ended up being a rainbow group of survivors rather than Red Ranks with me.

Haha thanks for the video, should be a trailer for this killer. In so many situations, a no power 115% seems better to play than this joke.

it's like the devs just want to do a k-pop killer, his power was just a pretext..

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2180838#Comment_2180838

Getting good at spamming your power ? Because this is how he is designed, 60 knifes and 16 to down a healthy survivor. Otherwise i would play Huntress or Slinger.

If you liked the video, the movie is very similar and I would highly recommend it. It's incredibly dumb but the fun kind of dumb :D

Maybey you just need to get good. Bad workman blames his tool

I retract my being nice with my request for video

Video or it didn't happen. Show us your incredible skill and how everyone else is just super bad at the game and/or you're just a God at the game with Trickster. Show us that everyone else is just awful and you're not a liar.

If you can't and/or won't do it, I have no reason to believe a thing you have said. Video proof (full matches so we can see if these are competent survivors and you're not just curb stomping a bunch of noobs with highlights). Don't bother responding to me again (or go ahead I suppose, this is America but I'm not going to respond to you) until you have this video.

  • He's an awful killer who somehow has the weakness of multiple killers but none of their strengths. They took the worst part of range killers and the worst part of M1 killers and for funsy just some general awfulness and threw it together. The Trickster name was used because BHVR somehow tricked everyone into buying the worst killer in the game.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqaCEPwWGtc

^ Actual footage of The BHVR Team when creating Trickster

Like...I hate doing this because it's such a cliche but when it comes to Trickster, video or it didn't happen because I don't see how anyone could possibly do anything decent with him against even just competent survivors. I would love for you to prove me wrong but after multiple games of using him, I just don't see it...

  • She's just a normal human girl who enjoys normal human things and is definitely not The Entity in disguise

  • The stats get insanely skewed as bad survivors get absolutely curb stomped by good and bad killers but good survivors absolutely curb stomp good killers.

The game is incredibly survivor sided for survivors who know how to game the system to their advantage. It's just that a lot of survivors don't (either because they're new so they don't know how to really optimize their play or because they're just not very good).

  • While the game absolutely could use a better tutorial, it's not THAT complicated of a game.

I didn't get any outside help at all, I just played the game and figured ish out as I went along. I'm sure some of the more tech strategy I'd have learned about faster had I Googled it but I learned everything I know from this game playing it (and funny enough, I learned a lot more survivor strategy playing as killer than I did playing survivor).

  • 58 Days, 2 Hours, and 56 minutes

    ...but who's counting? :D

  • To me, there's only two changes that need to be made

Give the option to take yourself out of Tier 1 (or make it considerably easier to get out of T1). Tier 1 is downright useless unless you are using a build specifically to use it. While it's not a big deal on some maps, some maps have so much crap in the way that all it takes is four survivors with Spine Chill and you might literally never get out of T1 because you can't stalk long enough...

The second is one that I'm baffled by was even put in to begin with; his powers should never ever run out. There are no killers where your power can just not exist anymore because you used them too much. There is nothing more frustrating than having a survivor dead to rights (especially at the end game) but you can't go into T3 because you stalked them earlier in the game so now you're out of...stalking juice? I wasn't playing this game when he was introduced so maybe it made sense at the time but now it's such an archaic QoL issue for him that it is the primary reason I don't bother using him.

1 … 70 71 72 73 74 … 97
