  • I'm trying my best! 😭

  • I Work from Home and rather than do my actual work, I'll take anything else to do

Although honestly lately, I've been posting here a lot less even with the desire to do anything but my actual job. Just...nobody ever seems to actually respond to you. Everyone here talks around each other and everything is either the worst thing that has ever happened in the history of everything and needs an immediate nerf or that issue isn't an actual issue you entitled X because I don't have that problem ever.

I'd like to think that my posts are pretty good but no one ever seems to want to respond to them. Everyone seems far more interested in out-shouting one another than to actually discuss things...

I've tried to post more silly stuff instead (lots of movie quotes and "Ha ha, X goes brrrrr" meme stuff but that gets kind of boring too.

  • I imagine they'll extend it like the last rift when they completely shattered their own game into a thousand tiny little pieces before glueing it all back together and hoping it would stick.

Although with their update making you get more rift things faster, I'm less than a page away from being done. But I have a Series X so I've been unaffected by the flustercuck their update has made the game into...

Unfortunately I don't have much choice right now. Ranks have been seemingly frozen the last 2 days so I'm always against baby survivors. And if the choice is between bullying new survivors and farming, I'd rather farm.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2281822#Comment_2281822

Not sure what killers you are farming with but it takes maybe 9 minutes total for me to farm with survivors. Its not that hard to do basic math to make sure everyone gets enough points.

Then to answer your previous hyperbole question, yes, I'd much rather play against a sweaty tryhard killer for nine minutes than to play against a farming game for nine minutes

  • *Sad Nose Honking Noises*

  • @BenihimeWrath said:

Okay, having read this, I've come to the conclusion that survivors just want a sweatmaster-5000 to play against instead of someone trying to be chill and have fun. Thanks for the feedback guys.

You're taking what everyone is saying and completely hyperboling it and blowing it out of proportion just because you're not getting the answer you want but you know what...

Yeah, if my options are to waste 20 minutes of my life with boring farming gameplay or play 10 minutes against a sweatlord tryhard killer doing all they can to win, I'd 1000% take the sweatlord tryhard over farming

There, now you have someone agreeing with you.

Because it is boring as hell

    This

I'm playing DBD because I want to play DBD, not Farming Simulator

I have a limited amount of free time in my life for video games. Spending a chunk of that time farming is not the way I wish to spend said time.

  • Right now Killer Queue spiked in wait time because Nemesis came out

Give it a few days, it'll go back to normal

Me who's still plays on the original xbox1 :(

that's a fair point tho hopefully they do this for all platforms to improve over all quality

I hope they do for your sake (I managed to get a Series X so these issues don't affect me personally) that BHVR is going to actually open their eyes to this stuff with Resident Evil in theory potentially injecting a LOT of new blood into the game. But all these new players are not going to stick around if they can't get the damn game to work.

I'm just not gonna hold my breath that BHVR is going to actually do anything. They talk the talk but never seem to actually walk the walk.

  • I don't know a nice way to say this to BHVR but...

How many times have we heard that same line? Again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again...

Presumably they will do what they always do; just enough to make the game at least quasi-playable (at least on newer consoles and higher end PCs, sucks to be you still last gen peeps) and then go back to figuring out how much more they can charge for a new skin.

I remember they had a survey asking about what you'd want in a newsletter, my response was newsletters are unnecessary. šŸ˜‚

Might be from people that signed up for BHVR acct, think they get newsletters now.

Ah, possible. I never filled out the surveys. BHVR doesn't seem to listen to any of their fans so I don't really see the point in filling out a survey but that might explain why I've never heard or seen this newsletter...

  • ... there's a DBD newsletter? :D

Am I the only one who was/is unaware of this?

I think you don't actually have to play Trapper to do that one. I could be wrong, since I just did it as an "Adept Trapper" + Corrupt Intervention. But the icon for it is just the generic killer one, so I think you can do it as Nurse or Spirit with Trapper's perks. That might help.

Can confirm; I did it with my boy Oni

OP: I just chose my best killer and played until I pulled it off. I actually got pretty lucky with a pretty bad survivor crew my first shot at it (Oni being one of my better killers helps too).

I can see it being a pain in the arse but it's one of those that you just bang your head into the wall until it falls over. Maybe you can manage in one like I did or you get stuck in some kind of awful Groundhog Day Time Loop but all you can do is choose someone you're good with and hammer away until you knock it out.

Personally I don't like the term because I think its used by inexperienced killers to deflect blame of a loss. "I played perfect, I made no mistakes, its unfair" etc.

It is completely possible for a good killer to get a team that is so good on a map that is so strong for survivor to not have a possible win, but I don't believe that's the case here.

Don't get me wrong strong, unfairly so, SWF teams exist, but "Bully sqauds" stopped being a thing imo after instablinds were removed.

THOSE were bully squads. 0.3 second blinds that made hooking impossible, blinds at every pallet constantly or even mid chase, etc.

While I do agree there is a difference between a really good team and an actual bully squad, there are still teams who specifically go out of their way to make the game Hell for the killer (my example I gave is absolutely a bully squad; a group of survivors who goes out of their way to make the killer experience as miserable as humanly possible).

They might not be as effective as they used to be but that doesn't mean they no longer exist.

  • Trust me, I 1000% get it and it saddens me to see people defending bully squad actions.

Unfortunately there isn't a lot you can do about it except take it on the chin and try to adapt. Yesterday I had a bully squad like that (three people with head-on forcing chases to each other and flashbangs so the times I did catch them, they would make me drop them). Bully squads are just a unfortunate reality (then these same clowns come to the forum wondering why their queue times are so bad) in this game.

The only reason I even won was I've experienced these people before (so I've gotten good at baiting the head-on even though this stupid game is wonky about it at times) and they were more interested in making my life hell rather than doing gens.

Keep your head up and try not to let it get to you (and as the broken keyboards of mine can attest, that's far easier said than done). Take breaks and try your best not to let it eat at you.

Good luck OP. Hopefully you can break past this. The game absolutely can be a blast but it can be really tough to dig through the garbage to get to the diamonds.

  • Besides that unfortunate incident, what did you think of the play Mrs. Lincoln? :D

So far I've only played one Nemesis (evidently no one is playing him or I'm just unlucky) and honestly did not care for it. I'm hoping to run into him a bit more to get a better feeling but as of now I really hate the Zeds. They feel super boring and don't add anything but boringness as I try to do a gen and they keep wandering over to see what I'm doing.

Didn't consider that. However, isn't that just referred to as bleeding people out?

Well that's why I asked the clarification question and gave my response pending your clarification

  • I'm not sure why you'd "take a hit for this one" as I imagine more people than not agree with you

Presumably Warner Brothers was the one who made the call for which Freddy DBD Freddy got to be based on because I can't imagine anyone anywhere ever at any point in history would have chosen the remake version over Robert Englund...

  • I'm assuming when you say "Slugging for 4K", you mean the killer has downed everyone and is just letting them bleed out instead of hooking everyone

If so, I agree. It's a waste of everyone's time and let's just get this going so we can move into the next match

If you're saying it's the equivalent of T-Bagging when there are still survivors running around up, then I 100% disagree as there is an actual reason for what you're doing. I personally would rather just hook the third guy and if the fourth person gets away, so be it (unless I see the fourth person, in which case, I'm going after Survivor #4) but as a survivor, I do not fault a killer who leaves me on the ground if there are still survivors running around. I suppose I get mildly irked because I'm dead here and would rather just move on but I understand why they're doing what they're doing.

  • He's trying his best!

  • I don't think it has anything to do with pride

I think they may have meant it two years ago that they wanted to do it but either took too long (and at this point is now content to just run out the clock instead of sinking money into "last gen" consoles and hardware) or they meant it two years ago but it turned out to be WAY more difficult than they expected with how F'ed up their code is.

Or maybe it was a lie the entire time :D

  • Sigh

Please stop chasing after the Leon Skin shouting at them about your sister and the Redfield Bloodline. That's not the actual Leon, that's just a sk...and he's gone sprinting after Leon again.

To be honest, an alternate game mode where all forms of conventional tracking and auras are gone, could be very interesting. No TR, No scratch marks, no auras of any kind. It would probably get old very fast but would be an interesting experiment if it was a timed alt game mode or something.

Oh God, imagine trying to track down a Blendette

Now THAT'S a true horror game...

  • KillersCantCatchame says killers easily 4K everyone but how can this be if the killers can't catch you?

  • I have only played one game so maybe it'll change but I feel like I'm going to HATE the Zeds.

In that one match, I kept not being able to finish the last gen cause the zed kept wandering over to it. There doesn't seem to be anything you can do about them except wait for them to get bored and wander away unless your gen happens to be next to a pallet that hasn't been thrown...

Although I don't recall really any complaints about them when the PBT thing was happening so maybe I just got an A-hole Zed who was dead set against me doing that one gen.

  • Insert *Shocked Pikachu Face* here

(Yes I'm reusing my joke, that first thread died instantly)

  • I've only played the one game but I have a feeling I'm REALLY going to hate the zeds

Not because they're actually threatening or anything but already three times in this game I've gotten into a situation where I had to leave a gen because some stupid zed wandered over to yell at me.

Like...if I had a way to actually deal with them this wouldn't be so bad but unless there is a pallet nearby or I'm an idiot who is unaware of the "Stab the Zed in the face" button, there doesn't seem to be anything you can do but hope it gets bored and wander away. Sitting there waiting for the slowest creature in the world (besides maybe a Blendette leaving a bush) to go away is not very exciting...

  • I like that they released a brand new map and then immediately had to pull it because it was a dumpster fire mess with crashes and glitches :D

  • Insert *Shocked Pikachu Face* here

  • As others have stated, their silence to me speaks volumes

They're not gonna do it. They've decided to run out the clock and let the last gen game die out as people upgrade to new consoles. There's literally no other reason to not say something about it at this point except that they're hoping people will just...get bored and wander away as their customers buy Series Xs/PS5s

  • @FIEND8LOODED said:

Remember, NEVER help your teammates. If you see somebody on a hook do NOT try to save them, lest you get labelled as a LOW RANK SURVIVOR.

It's time for that Dwight to learn some independence! He keeps begging people to help but if I let him off the hook now, he'll never learn to get HIMSELF off the hook later.

  • I didn't run DS when it was "OP" and I have no intention of running DS now. I'm of the mind (then and now) that if a killer wants you tunneled out of a game, you WILL be tunneled out of the game. DS might give you a few more seconds of time but if the killer wants me out, he's just going to come right back after me once his few second Time Out expires...

  • You tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson here is Never Try

  • It's incredibly inconsistent (both as a survivor revealing him and as playing him)

As GF, I've been five thousand yards behind a house and a survivor spots me (OK...not literally...mostly but you get my point). I've had survivors be able to see the white of my eyes they were so close to me and I just stand there winning the staring contest.

All the tips and tricks I've heard (namely the "middle of the screen" thing) is inconsistent at best. I've had times where I've actively tried NOT to reveal GF cause I was hiding and it would start revealing him when he's in the far corner of the screen as I try to keep an eye on him while not revealing him.

It does kind of feel like GF needs a complete rework because clearly his powers just don't work well enough in the games code.

  • I'd like to see only one second chance perk per survivor but that's probably not happening either...

Although as a killer, I'm not sure why I'd have multiple aura reading perks. I guess it depends on your definition of aura reading (BBQ & Chili being an obvious one but would you count Thrilling Tremors or Surveillance or Nurse's Calling as an Aura Reading perk cause if you include the indirect ones like that, then I guess I run a bunch of aura reading perks).

  • It would never work because if you pit top killers versus top survivors, the survivors will win nine times out of ten.

It's always been an issue with this game and it's something I doubt will ever be fixed. There are a LOT of little tricks and strategies that survivors can use that make them incredibly difficult to take down. You can't really tone those tricks and strategies down though because newer survivors need them to survive but seasoned survivors who know all the exploits can make even the best of killers look like a fool.

It would likely work really well at the low levels and even mid levels but once you get to the top levels, killers would bleed from the game (even more than they currently do) as it would be nothing but frustration and sadness for them.

  • Nope

We have no real idea what this so-called "Auto Ban" system is (unless y'all know more than I do but so far the only thing we know about it is that they called it an Auto Ban system :P).

I don't really ever change any of my tactics based on outside stuff. I can't imagine it'll be the worst case scenario everyone seems to be assuming it is (four survivors report you and you're gone forever) but hey, maybe getting banned from this game might be the best thing for me at this point :D

  • It can get incredibly frustrating in this game, especially since the game is so clearly not balanced around survivors having constant communication with each other. Even if it's not Seal Team SWF, there is a very big and clear advantage to survivors being able to talk to each other and unfortunately there is not a whole lot a killer can do about it until BHVR decides to do something about it.

It sucks and I imagine it's a large part of why the game bleeds killer player base from Red Ranks but BHVR seems content with it so shrug.

EDIT: And can we stop with this absolute cop-out argument of "How dare people play with friends!?!?" BS? Like...yes, there is a difference between Seal Team SWF and Four Friends wanting to play with each other but four people who are even remotely competent at this game being able to communicate with each other is damn near impossible for a killer to take on unless they are REALLY bad at...everything. Something as simple as "Hey, the killer is chasing me" gives all the other survivors the greenlight to start working on gens and not have to worry about the killer showing up to stab them in the butt. That is a HUGE ######### advantage that the SWF crew has and that's the very most basic form of communication between four people. Once they start actively coordinating with one another, there is very little a killer can do about it. The game is not balanced around survivors being able to share communication like this and to pretend like this isn't a HUGE advantage to survivors is absolutely ludacris...

  • There is a penalty; killers lose blood points (indirectly by not doing anything but stand there) and lose rank (directly as they lose points for being next to the hook and indirectly by not doing anything else)

  • Bloodline.jpg

These memes are so incredibly stupid

    ...and I love it

  • Because none of this stuff is taught

I had no idea you could crouch through a hags trap (or use a flashlight on them) until months into being Red Rank. I found out because of a random thing in the forum and I expect the vast majority of players don't go anywhere near the forums...

If you don't own Ghostface or Myers, you may not realize how their powers work. I had no idea how The Plague got their powers for a long while because I didn't have her. All the killers have their own quirks that a player is never taught about.

I suppose the first time you play a killer it gives you these tips but otherwise the loading screen is just generic tips about the heartbeat means the killer is near.

  • I've found it's best to ignore them. You're going to likely get smoked as you're at an obvious huge disadvantage but let's be honest, if someone is hacking/cheating like that, you're going to be getting smoked anyway. But it is funny to watch them Sonic the Hedgehog their way everywhere trying to get you to pay attention to them while you just wander around kicking things and stabbing normal survivors.

It's not fair to judge MMR on a single match. Play 5 matches with the cannibal and show us a screenshot of the end game results.

That's a fair point but it's been like this all night. I didn't bother doing screenshots as this was the funniest example of MMR being wonky but look in any of these threads and this screenshot/experience seems to be the norm.

It's especially funny to me. I don't main any particular killer as I constantly change who I'm playing as but if I had to choose who I played the most as, it would be Bubba or Oni (I like the high risk high reward one shot killers). I'd think MMR would put me with God Mode survivors constantly as Bubba rather than clearly brand new players.

I get that this MMR is a test so there's bound to be kinks in it but so far in my experience at least, it seems to be one giant kink rather than a few weird issues cropping up randomly...

  • I'm having the same issues with new MMR as I do with old MMR

I curb stomp the hell out of four toddlers who somehow managed to turn on a game of Dead by Daylight or I get curb stomped by Seal Team SWF

    Potatoes.jpg

Like...I know rank isn't everything but these guys very CLEARLY do not belong against me and contrary to popular belief on the forum, getting to mash absolutely awful potatoes isn't all that much fun either.

I didn't even use the stupid Mori (I generally don't use Moris ever but I was trying to get that "You Yes You" archive challenge done so I had Furtive Chase on, what to me felt like a useless perk except for switching the obsession so I burned an offering I didn't care about as I expected to basically throw this match; though on the plus side I did get my challenge done so now I can take Furtive Chase off)

  • Side and I guess so far at least I'm the weird one :D

If I'm looking to the side, I can see out of the "Corner of my eye" where I'm going. So I can be sure I'm not about to run into an obstacle or pallet or something on my way to the hook if I turn my head to the side while still avoiding the blindness.

  • Unfortunately it sucks for everyone and it's kind of your call as the killer what to do

I've allowed the survivors to just do gens and leave in that situation but if it happens really early (like...five gens still early), I may decide to just put them down just to end the damn game. A lot of it just comes down to how I'm feeling. Generally I will let the survivors just do the gens and go but sometimes I just want to call it and move on.

I don't think there is a right or wrong answer here. It sucks because you're going to lose no matter what as the killer and as the survivors in this situation but at least as killer, you have a little bit of choice here. You do you and if the survivors complain, all you can do is shrug and move on.

  • I'm bummed that I will almost certainly never get that "3 blink grab" nurse achievement. Grabs are buggy as hell as it is and now to 3 blink, you need an add on that doesn't let you go through walls.

Short of just farming it with someone, I'm not sure it's possible to get organically playing the game...

  • They're (allegedly at least) working on it

I do feel for them here though cause how do you determine "skill" in this game in an easy, quantifiable way? Was it how often a player survives cause your team generally matters more to that than your own skill. How long you can loop? The killer generally matters more to that. Is an emersion player higher skilled than a good chaser? Are they higher skilled than someone with great situational awareness like how to lead a killer away from gens? Is that useless potato a survivor God because they always survive as they've perfected the art of The Blendette and leaving everyone to die?

Every indicator of survivor skill in this game usually comes down to factors that don't involve the player. If I individually watch or play against a survivor I could tell you how good or bad they may be but that's not a terribly realistic way to build a matchmaking system from and all the stats in the world in a "Party" style game like DBD will always make automating skill levels really really difficult.

My favorite threads were the "Go ahead and ban me Mods to PROVE how corrupt and awful you are!!!!!!"

I always stopped, paused to think about what I was doing, chuckled softly to myself, and banned them for being dum :D

I suppose everyone is different and some people might be more sensitive than others when it comes to these kind of threads but in general, Mods don't really care about your weird little crusade against "injustice" or whatever thing is the flavor of the week for people to whine about.
