  • It's the weird spot for DH because people who are using it wrong (using to to dodge a single hit) get mad about how weak it is but survivors who use it right (to get to a window or pallet they wouldn't have otherwise) makes it an almost Game breaking good perk for survivors.

You're using it to try to dodge a single swing, which is a bad use of the perk in the best of times and an even worse use now with how janky the servers are. So of course you think it's a bad perk that needs a boost.

Definitely not in the wrong especially if it was necessary to capitalize on but I would've personally slugged the Felix and punished the farmer. Hate people who do that.

This. As others have stated, it's not really Felix's fault that his teammates are jerks but it is 1000% up to you how to punish the survivors in that situation. If you give them the full punishment and hook Felix, awesome, you do you. If you slug Felix and let him get punished with time rather than a hook, awesome, you do you too.

Unless the game is going very badly for me or I'm in a particularly pissy mood, I generally will slug the Felix since he had no control over the situation but you did nothing wrong if you choose to punish the survivor team for making a stupid play.

  • I've had that happen too. I'm not sure if they're just looking to farm and me being the buzzkill puts an end to that once I start the stabbin or if it's just dummies doing dummy things but it is always a little strange to run into.

  • The same reason so many survivors hate going against Bubba; their powers encourage a unfun way to play (namely camping).

You personally may not be doing any camping but survivors will still hold it against you for some reason.

  • @TragicSolitude nails it with their first line

"I expect a game to be fun, but DbD has a lot of problems making killer fun."

I have found more and more there are two types of games for a killer at Red Rank; they curb stomp potatoes or they get curb stomped

There are the occasional "win or lose by the Skin of your teeth" games but those are not nearly as common for me at least as they used to be. I know this might sound crazy considering some of the threads on this forum but to me at least, mashing a group of potatoes isn't very much fun either.

I used to play this game a LOT more often than I do now. While at least right now I still play relatively often, I'm usually only a few games in before I throw in the towel.

Throw in how many of those "killer gets curb stomped" games are filled with jerk survivors going out of their way to make the game miserable for the killer and it's not all that shocking that the game is bleeding killers like a Quentin Tarantino movie...

As far as I understand it, the lock was kept in place to avoid needing a client update when they want to test mmr again and also to allow players to get used to it.

Also true. When MMR is eventually put back in, they don't have to worry about disabling it again.

Assuming the next MMR attempt isn't also a dumpster fire of a failure and immediately cancelled :D

  • It was removed when they did the MMR matchmaking system (basically giving each killer their own "individual" rank for you so your main might be Rank 1 but someone you've never played as might be Ranked 20; they didn't want you to load into a lobby with your Rank 20 killer and then switch to a Rank 1 killer once the lobby was filled with noob survivors).

When MMR was an absolute colossal failure, they disabled MMR without disabling being able to switch your killer out

If you are slugging the guy that was just unhooked you are not being nice, you are just trying not to get DSed, I am killer main and I know that its not just get the guy downed and rehook him, there is the DS at the middle that makes everything more spicy.

I guess that might be what the survivor thinks I'm doing but that's not what I'm doing. I'm slugging them because I'm trying to be a nice killer who is letting them get another chance at life rather than just rehooking them and ending their game right away.

Maybe they think I'm being a jerk who is cheesing their way around DS but I know why I'm doing what I'm doing.

  • I like to think I'm a nice killer. I will avoid tunneling as much as possible and do not face camp (even in EGC). If someone was just taken off the hook and I find them immediately, I will often slug them rather than rehook them just because I feel bad and want to let them survive a bit longer without just straight up letting them go. Unless I have another target in my sights, I won't ever slug (though in large part because I think this is boring for me as a killer rather than an altruistic thing).

People who do this last second switch are the exceptions. I still will not directly tunnel them but if I have two options, Mr Key by default now takes priority. I will go out of my way to keep everyone alive as long as possible (not because I'm being nice though, I'm trying to keep the hatch out of play so if you're on your death hook, you're getting the boring slug rather than just killed). If we get to EGC, I will make it my priority to get them on the hook and bust out the graham crackers and chocolate.

There are not a lot of things that turn me into the scummy jerk tactics killer; this is one of them. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes survivor...

  • I don't know if something has changed but I would agree. I'm stomping survivors lately using killers who generally are not survivor stompers (namely The Plague as I try to do that stupid Corrupt Purge Archive Challenge).

They're not great at getting chased, they hide like scared bunnies, they do a bad job of teamwork; basically I feel like I've been getting (at least) one potato per match. It's been in the last two weeks or so. I don't know if it's a string of good(?) luck for me or if something has happened to ranking behind the scenes or what might be going on. Tis very strange indeed...

  • The game is killer sided until the survivors really learn how to game the system and play optimally. Once survivors learn how to REALLY play right, the game becomes insanely survivor sided.

So yeah, in a way, we are playing a different game. Newer/less skilled survivors think it's killer sided because they're too inexperienced and/or not good enough to take advantage of all their advantages where killers playing against experienced/skilled survivors think it's survivor sided because the game gives the survivors so many tools to extend chases an insanely long time and survivors who know what they're doing know how to take advantage...

  • ...wha?

Just because another survivor can hook trade (or get both of you killed if the unhooker isn't running BT) doesn't mean facecamping doesn't exist.

That is a very strange definition of facecamping you have there...

  • How does one "Hit and Run" while also tunneling? Aren't those two tactics exact opposites of one another?

  • I imagine it's a coincidence but it is interesting that if I see one rare killer, I'll usually see them a few games in a row. I played four games last weekend and hit three Pigs. It was very strange.

  • Part of the reason I run Bond is to try to not accidentally lead the killer to teammates.

Sure, sometimes I have no choice so they're gonna have to suck it up but I do my best to make the killer go away from my team.

Unless you're a hiding Blendette who hasn't done jack all game. Then you bet your sweet ass I'm going to "accidentally" run into your hiding spot. Oopsy! My bad :D

  • NOED usually only gets extra kills because survivors get too altruistic with it. I will look for the totem so I can try to save them but once NOED is in play, it is time for Selfish Tippy to come out. The second I hear that heartbeat with NOED in play is my cue to leave.

Having the team die because you were the unlucky bastard who got caught first sucks but I'm not throwing my life away on a suicide mission...

  • Do what I do; type LOL to everything. They'll either not say anything or open the salt mines. Then LOL them (or LMAO or ROFL if you're feelin extra frisky) until they give up.

People will call you a camper. If you don't let them get unhooked safely. Get in your face to body block with BT AND not follow them after. Even though they cost you time and a hit on someone else.

I had a group call me a camper the other day. And to their credit I did at certain points. But I also went away from the hook for a full minute before I ventured back. In one of the scenarios they were calling me a camper for.

    https://youtu.be/yQ9PqbrzJc8

It was this match. And most hooks I went away from. But I camped them all according to the survivors 😂

Oh most certainly. I've played plenty long enough to be called everything under the sun when it comes to "breaking survivor rules", whether I did it or not..

I just respond with LOL to everyone now whether I'm guilty or not. People either don't respond or fly off the handle. Either way, LOL :D

  • Haha...chainsaw go brrrrrrrr

Anyway, like others have said, there's really not much I can think of at least that wouldn't either be abused by survivors or punish innocent Bubba's like myself (I do not camp but it's damn amazing how many teams just love to swarm the hook and unhook in my damn face when I play Bubba and then call me a camper for it :D. If y'all would let me take five damn steps before flying to the hook like they were a breath away from dying, I could actually go somewhere else).

It honestly does suck when you get a facecamping anything but I've yet to see a suggestion that couldn't be abused by survivors.

  • If they're being a butthole to you, feel free to be a butthole back. You reap what you sow survivor...

For myself, I generally won't do that just because there's always the slim chance it backfires on me and I don't want to waste my time doing it (rather just kill them and move along) but you do you. If they're gonna be a jerk, maybe a four minute timeout will make them think about what they've done.

  • Holding the game hostage is doing something that unreasonably stops the game from being played.

So slugging is not as worst case scenario, they sit there for four minutes until they bleed out.

Blocking someone in the corner and not allowing them to leave is taking the game hostage however as the person stuck can never escape.

    That makes sense the difference?

Its more about someone remembering specific player, and trying to destroy their gaming experience everytime they play against them. It doesn't have to be in a row. But yes its probably hard to prove unless you saving clips from those games

Fair I suppose. I just feel like unless they're dumb and come out and say "I'm going to harass you every game I play you in my ha ha haaaa" it'd be damn near impossible to prove but I suppose BHVR has it in there to cover the base.

  • @ShinobuSK said:

Only if you doing it to the same player over multiple matches

    This

Although I'm not sure how someone could follow you game to game (and then how do you prove it) but tunneling in an individual game is not what that line is referring to.

  • Not a whole lot you can do until BHVR does something about it

I suppose you could let them use your account to figure out what perks they like and then they can focus on getting those but playing the game is really their only option...

The closest thing to advice I suppose is get Bubba for BBQ and get WGLF for survivors to help ease the issue.

  • Would be nice but I doubt it.

Though I'm not even sure if it's a hit box thing or something else because I've clearly seen the survivor react to getting hit (their grunt scream and throwing their hands up) only for them to not get sick by it...

Did The Entity start giving out vaccines?

  • Ideally this is when your team at least tries to step in. I know it's tricky in solo but I know for myself at least, if I notice someone getting tunneled (or if I'm on 0 hooks while others are on Death Hooks), I'll actively try to find the killer and body block and generally get in the way to get them to go after me instead.

Unfortunately if the killer wants you dead, you gonna be dead. There's really no way that you can remove tunneling from the game without actively harming innocent killers.

  • Bye! Hopefully you find a game you enjoy more and if you ever change your mind, The Fog will be here waiting to give you a loving embrace...

  • 1 The only time I'll ever slug that early is if you did a last second key switch (so I'm trying to keep the hatch out of play but again, only for a last second switch. You gonna play those games with me, this is your prize). If they either had a key in the lobby the whole time or no key, I'm just gonna hook and let the chips fall where they fall whether it's 3 minutes in or 10 minutes in

2 Roll my eyes and wait for the sweet release of Death. Not a whole lot else I can do...

  • The game I just had is exactly why I use Blood Warden. It almost certainly costs me more games than helps since it's common it never kicks on but there is no better Justice than this...

You'd think a Twitch Streamer would know better than to mock a killer when the gates are open as I'm hooking someone but this Streamer did not get the memo I guess.

But hey, jump through that window a bunch to try to mock the killer. It just let's me know exactly where you're at as the black spikes of doom seal you in...

    I completely agree..

..unless you're Dweet. I'm sorry but he's just a precious little bean.

    ...that is fair

  • I show mercy to players, not to characters. There is no character you could play that would make me more or less likely to show mercy on but how the player acts towards me.

  • Ha ha...chainsaw go brrrrrrrrrrr

For me, it would be having characters like David bulging in all the right places. But yeah the blood hunt is also nice.

Why would you want him to get a bulging disc?! That can be incredibly painful for someone :'(

  • I don't have one either

I guess the closest thing is for killer if all the survivors are at the gate, in which case I'll go find things to break or find the hatch for points

As survivor, if it's only two of us left and my partner is being a coward, I'll just sit on a gen working it until the killer finds me. I don't want to waste my time playing hide and go seek so I'll work the gen and get what points I can until the killer finds me or I finish the gen.

You mean the Pulcinella skin? I've always wanted to play against a Clown wearing that, cause it really creeeps me out somehow

Yup! I added a pic so you can see him in his True Glory

  • I mix and match the rift cosmetics but I have no desire to pay money for special cosmetics to make my killer look different.

I do feel like I'm the only one who uses the wooden puppet face on the clown. I always thought that was way creepy so I use the Mr Puddles Body with the Puppet Face since it clashes in such a creepy way...

  • It's unfortunately always going to be a problem in this game. Once survivors have the experience and really know how to game the system, very few killers have a chance to win (and the ones that do, you have to play damn near perfect as every mistake is magnified against top skilled survivors).

But you can't take away the things that make this possible (like gen times, looping, DH for distance, etc) without downright crippling lower ranks.

  • It's been weeks since I've seen a Trickster period. I'm not sure I've ever seen a good one.

Trickster is just not a very good killer. Everything he does, another killer does it far better. He has a lot of trades but he's a master of none of them.

If I ever run into one of these Bigfoot Creatures that is a good trickster, I imagine it'll just be a killer who is really good in spite of using Trickster, not because they use Trickster...

  • Depends on how much Michael Jackson is playing at the time

  • At this point, it's meaningless dribble not to be taken seriously.

I don't camp or tunnel but I am constantly accused of it. I suppose it's not absolutely impossible that someone felt camped or tunneled as they don't see what I do (so if I went to one area, found no one, and came back, they may assume I never left) but except in very specific situations, I won't ever purposefully camp or tunnel. But I know I'm going to get yelled at for it anyway so *shrug*

  • We're not always logical when we're angry :(

  • @TragicSolitude said:

I used to get salty messages from teammates on PS4. It's one of the reasons I turned off messages. Sorry I didn't attempt that basement save during the EGC when the killer had NOED and was camping your ass, I didn't think my Jeff with his three original perks would be much help. Crying out loud.

    I've gotten those messages too.

You got caught by a camping Bubba in the basement. You were dead the minute Bubba caught you down there, you just didn't realize it and I'm not killing myself to rescue your corpse :D

  • Unfortunately it's very unlikely to happen. BHVR seems perfectly content to run out the clock at this point and let the problem solve itself as people begin to upgrade to Series X or PS5.

  • I also have not noticed any uptick but I might be getting lucky (or you're getting unlucky).

I also haven't played as much as usual since I am doggo sitting so maybe I just got lucky my few games.

  • It's a Catch 22; people don't want jerks who get caught right away to just kill themselves and cripple their team BUT there are circumstances where suicide on hook is the right play.

Personally I'm happier with the current system than the old system even with that drawback but that's just me.

The 4k is a victory if 1 survivor escape its a loss i dont understand why people say a 3k is a win 1 survivor escape that mean you did a bad job in killing him because he is alive

I can't speak for everyone but I don't think getting a 4K is the only way to win in this game. Maybe you feel it's 4K or you have lost but I don't feel that way at all.

But even if I were to agree to that condition, I'd rather lose a game letting 1 person get away rather than win but needing to spend (at least) 4 more minutes in a game that is effectively over. I value my time a lot more than some arbitrary win condition.

Sure there is as the players will see how higher ranks will treat killers...they get good or say to heck with this game and play something else...lobby simulator evenings persist even more. The game only has a rank mode for the sweats thats on them...a casual mode fixes that issue = positivity for most.

I mean... I guess killing the game itself because too many people get frustrated and quit for the game to survive is one strange way to see yourself as getting a win here but you do you.
