I still haven't played the map damn it 😭

I know there is a very vocal group who seem to hate it and let everyone know how much they hate it whenever it's brought up but I still want to play it

  • @Phasmamain said:

Honestly you get to a point where you don’t really care what happens in solo matches. watching my stupid teammates is half the fun

That's where I'm at (or have been at for a long time).

It's unfortunate but as a solo survivor, you're at the mercy of the ranking system to give you at least decent teammates to play with. Some might be doing challenges and are willing to throw the match for said challenges, some might just have different priorities than I do and therefore our playstyle clashes, or some might just be toddlers who somehow managed to get to Red Ranks as a survivor as they chew on the controller.

Whatever the reason, I've just kind of accepted that I'm probably going to die going in as a solo survivor and have made peace with that. Sometimes I get pleasantly surprised and have another survivor who knows what they're doing but I have stopped expecting competence from my teammates :D

Eh, actually you're pretty bad at killer then 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I'm trying my best! 😭😭😭😭

Although it's not being brought up in the thread (hence I'm not taking it seriously at all because these complains are so incredibly vague that they're borderline useless) but to take it at least a little seriously, I do my very best to make the game "sporting". I don't tunnel (unless someone GIVES me a reason to tunnel them like the BT Body Blocker), I don't camp (even at end game when I probably should be as I find it boring), and I do my very best to not kill people until everyone has been hooked at least one time.

If I were to adopt the less sporting (though far more effective) tactics like tunneling or even just going after the weakest links instead of spreading my kills out, I'd likely find myself 4King a lot more often. But I personally would rather have 4 survivors escape after a great match than to just slaughter 4 survivors in a snoozefest curb stomping...

  • Man...how bad am I at killer that I don't constantly get 4K since evidently it is basically impossible for me NOT to kill everyone it sounds like? 😭

Although silver lining; I do pretty well and survive a decent chunk of the time as a solo survivor. Which must make me the greatest survivor in the universe for pulling it off!!! ALL BOW DOWN TO SURVIVOR TIPPY!!!!

  • It does kind of sadden me that I get nothing as a killer :,(

Why won't the survivors include me?!?!? What did I ever do to them?!?!?!

  • They won't

There are more than enough counters in the game at this point to deal with NOED. Counter it with one of them or accept that you're always at the risk of having NOED bite you in the arse.

  • Dislike

While I can appreciate you might actually be trying to help, I've had it happen WAY too often that I will go to hit them, they T-Bag me and they leave before I can get my hit in

I guess unless I'm RIGHT there at the gate walking you out and you're waiting to let me get my hit in, please just go. Don't sit there at the gate waiting for me to wander over because I'm not going to and you're just wasting both our time sitting there wondering why I'm not coming over to get my couple hundred Brutality points...

  • This game has a terrible habit of you swinging to hit the person doing the unhooking but it goes LOL and has the hit register to the person getting unhooked. You can do your best to mitigate this by being directly behind the unhooker when you swing but it still every once in a while decides LOL anyway and has the hit register to the person on the hook instead because the game hates you and wants you to feel pain.

  • Potatoes gonna potato 🤷‍♂️

That is the one negative the extremely casual players who choose to not learn the game and do whatever they want. But, I've had matches with those good teammates and we were able to escape.

Those games are also part of the fun of Solo Q. I've had matches with complete strangers I couldn't talk to where if I were the killer facing us, I'd have never believed you if you said we weren't a SWF group.

There are just sometimes where you and your stranger buddy are just on the exact same sentence, let alone the same page. Those games are what make putting up with the Potato games so worth it.

  • Solo Q certainly isn't impossible (I play exclusively Solo Q cause I have no friends!!! :D... D:)

    However...

There are a lot of disadvantages Solo Q puts you under that are out of your control. Something as simple as knowing what your teammate is doing gives SWF a huge advantage over the Solo Q player. A game can easily be won or lost by two people rushing across the map to unhook someone because two players just burned 20 seconds instead of one of them finishing the gen because they know the other is going for the save.

Not to mention that when the basics are known, it is pretty balanced but how many of us Solo Q'ers have played with survivors who were toddlers who somehow managed to boot up the game? Part of the roulette wheel of being a Solo Q'er is I can get competent teammates, I can get awesome teammates, I can get three barely sentient potatoes; it's a wheel of luck that seems to land on the sad side way more often than the happy side!

  • The game can be great but there are a LOT of growing pains to playing it

Assuming you keep playing, you'll figure out the tricks you need to know as a killer (and as a survivor) to kill and/or survive. Unfortunately it just takes a lot of time and effort to get to that point as the game is not noob friendly at all.

  • I have found that unless BHVR specifically announces a bug as reportable, they generally will not punish someone for using a bug since it can be easy to accidentally do it

You certainly can report them and see what happens but I'm guessing that this would not be something they'd bop people for

  • They do seem weirdly finnicky sometimes where there'll just be....empty spots. Usually at places where they can turn (which really sucks since you don't know which way they went now).

I've never paid close enough attention to it since I always figured they may have just done something cheeky like crouched once they hit the corner or something. But it might just be Dead by Daylight doing Dead by Daylight things and not working properly 😂

  • Just a FYI, Naming & Shaming (even when it is CRYSTAL CLEAR they were naughty) is against the forum rules

For #2, for this kind of abuse, just submitting a report in-game is enough to my knowledge (if it were gameplay, you'd have to submit a ticket to give them video evidence but it is my understanding that the text is kept on BHVRs records so they can see it)

EDIT: If you did not submit the report in game, I don't know if reporting them would work but...

  • It's been very strange. I just got back from a week vacation (so no DBD) and with how many threads I saw on this topic, I thought for sure it would be a painful mess of a time but at least out of the six games I've played today, one person DC'ed (and I barely count that as they DC'ed on the hook after the party let them hit 2nd stage).

I'm not sure if I'm just lucky or what it is. I have avoided playing Nemesis as it sounds like it's still a huge mess for people so maybe that's part of it?

And the strongest killers in the game don’t care about pallets for the most part. Nurse, Spirit, Phead, etc can get away with not kicking like 80% of the pallets in the game. Even clown barely has to kick anything but god pallets if he has good addons.

Im not a god tier gamer by any means but I still win like 95% of my killer games I want to say. Though to be fair I have over 4K hours so a lot of it is from map knowledge and decision making more than mechanical skills.

Most of the maps are pretty nerfed. It’s not like you will see 4x jungle gyms in a row on coldwind anymore. And then as survivor all it takes is 1 guy playing poorly and the other 3 die by default without really any input.

I'd like to think in my 1503 hours (since earlier that seems to be the metric of choice :D) that I'm at least quasi-decent at killer but it's certainly not impossible that I'm just not good at it :D

I can only speak to my personal experiences though, which is if you were to put 4 survivors who were of equal skill to the killer at Red Ranks, the survivors would run circles around the killer 9 times out of 10.

Fortunately I don't deal with 4 survivors of my equal level all that often as for whatever reason, there ALWAYS seems to be at least one useless teammate in the group (or if I'm playing Solo Survivor, all three other survivors are useless :D)...

  • @SilentPill said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2312495#Comment_2312495

Yeah but the killer powers these days are very strong and a lot of the maps are just barren. It doesn’t really matter how good the survivor is in a lot of cases. Sure you can load into Haddo or the game or something but then you can also load into like Azarovs resting place and have a 4 gen with 2 unsafe pallets to work with on one side of the map.

Oh yeah, the RNG God can taketh away quickly

But the RNG God can also giveth just as quickly as you can make that same exact argument for the survivor side as I've had matches as the killer where it was a barren wasteland and therefore a slaughter and I've had matches where I'm pretty sure every single square contained those damn Double Ls and approx 5,000,0000,000 pallets...

  • @SilentPill said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2312476#Comment_2312476

I don’t think so. Once you hit a certain level as killer only SWFs will really beat you if you are playing with strong builds. When I play meta pyramid head, meta Bubba, even meta clown the games are usually a slaughter. I’m not even using Nurse or Spirit.

Granted, I am assuming the survivors I am up against in Red Rank are of equal skill as mine with the above post

Red Rank is just also filled with a LOT of survivors who probably don't really belong in Red Ranks. Maybe that's BHVRs way of balancing Red Ranks to make it viable for killers? 😅

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again (and probably five thousand more times after that)

This game is killer dominant until you get to a certain point, then that bar swings so fast the other way you'll likely get a concussion from it

When you're a baby survivor, you are learning all the little tricks and trades of being a survivor. As you play more and more, you learn and figure out how to really take advantage of all these little tricks and trades. Eventually, once you've gotten a pretty good grasp of it, you start being able to make even the biggest baddest mother trucker killer out there look like a drunken toddler who had one too many juice boxes.

But all of those little tricks and trades can't really be removed because otherwise baby survivors would have no chance at all. I have no idea how you'd even begin to fix it unfortunately

Do you know of other console games that allow you to do that? Genuinely asking, I don't know because I haven't bought a console since the PS3.

I've been a console gamer forever so I can help field this one a bit at least

I never saw a game on the prior gen that allowed you to do that but the new gen games sometimes give you the option (like CONTROL specifically gives you a "Graphics" versus "Performance" option; I know at least a few games I've played on the Series X give you that option but Control is the one I specifically remember off the top of my head).

Consoles are glorified PCs so while the option hasn't really existed before on last gen consoles, I see no reason why the PS4/Xbox One couldn't have a graphics option. Granted, I am not a Video Game Scientist so I can't confirm that with 100% certainty...

  • @gendoss said:

Almost everybody I play with in DbD are console players. The game is far from unplayable. I lose all the time to console players.

So what, are all those videos people sharing on here just...not real? All the complaints about how using the Nemesis Power makes the game a laggy mess that causes it all to crash and burn? My own personal experiences (pre-getting my Xbox Series X) where the game would just stutter step every so often because the game pooped itself all just in my head?

Or are you telling me that constantly losing survivors as a killer because the game can't handle someone using Dead Hard isn't actually unplayable and we just should expect PS4/Xbox One users to....git gud somehow over the game stutter stepping every chase?

  • @gendoss said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2311962#Comment_2311962

So they just shouldn't sell any video game on the Nintendo Switch that can't reach 60 FPS? Well that's like every game ever.

There is a HUGE difference between "Can't reach 60 FPS" and "This is literally unplayable garbage"

If you're going to come in with such ridiculous hyperboles like this already, this thread is going to be a useless discussion

  • Then stop selling it and the DLC for the last gen systems

If the hardware can't handle it and BHVR is unable or unwilling to do anything about it, then they shouldn't be selling a broken product

  • I don't know if I should be happy someone finally made the joke or disappointed it took so long when I lobbed a meatball down home plate.

  • Edit: Eh, that joke didn't land as well as I thought it would in my head and rereading it is kinda cringe fam as you kids would say so I changed my mind...

Edit 2: for the record, I don't see myself as an either side main as I play both sides relatively equally. Maybe a 60/40 in favor of the killer side

  • That'll...show them?

  • @TWiXT said:

    1. You select Trickster.
    2. You Lvl him up.
    3. You play him for a few rounds to get used to his mechanic.
    4. You decide Huntress is better and never pick Trickster again.

    /s

This but without the /s :D

I've tried. I've tried multiple times. The only time he seems even remotely good is against just awful potatoes and if I'm playing against awful potatoes, I could have used any other killer to kill them all but it would have been faster.

Someone here swears that Trickster isn't actually got garbage but I have never seen anything but hot garbage out of him (either as him or against him).

  • Oh. Neato! I don't pay as much attention to add ons as I probably should...

  • I feel like I'm going to regret getting involved but I have to ask...

Wall hack? Dafuq you Talkin bout?

  • I doubt it as there's no real reason this stuff can't be done at home

But for funsy, let's say it is. BHVR is still actively choosing to release these latest chapters in such an awful state. While it might not be fair that they might lose some money by holding off a chapter to deal with health of the game, life isn't fair. Covid has kicked everyone in the teeth, BHVR isn't special in this case...

Did i miss something? These cakes were always stackable right?

Outside of that one week they were bugged

There was a leak that said they weren't stackable and instead of people saying "Well it's just a leak, we'll see what happens", the forum did what the forum does and pooped itself in a righteous and furious anger about it.

  • Pretty much. I used to focus a lot of my gaming free time on DBD (so usually at least a hour or two at night with a good chunk of the weekend devoted to the game).

Now I usually hop on for a game or two (let the Daily decide what I want to do) and just that.

Now part of this is my own real life issues (chronic headaches that make it hard to stay focused anymore) but part of that is what I've said on multiple threads; I curb stomp potatoes who seem to barely understand the game even though they are also red ranked or Gods Among Survivors who would make even the best of the best of the best look silly. I know it might shock some Survivor Mains but just curb stomping the hell out of toddlers who somehow all managed to boot up the game isn't all that much fun either (I suppose it's better than the bully squads but not by much).

I don't know if this is just the natural progression of a game like this or a Me problem or what it is but regardless, my desire to play has plummeted. I bought the RE Chapter right away hoping that might be a spark but that's been it's own flustercuck of a release so...

  • C Tier. She can be ungodly powerful against survivors who are not very good but against anyone who knows what they're doing, she's pretty pathetic. But killing potatoes isn't exactly impressive...

I'd consider putting her in the B Tier if her powers were consistent at least. If I had a nickel for every time I hit someone (they screamed and everything so it's not like I missed and didn't realize it), I'd have like...five kajillion nickels. One of the most frustrating parts of playing her, ESPECIALLY when you are against really good survivors who know how to tightly loop and therefore it's one of the few times you actually had the chance to get a shot in...

She's damn fun to play as (one of my favorites) but I never go into a match expecting to win with her at red ranks.

  • Same. You can't throw yourself at me begging for attention and then get mad at me when I give you attention.

Well you can I guess but I'm not gonna care :D

  • I've had games where I and my fellow survivors just gelled like SWF (maybe they were SWF and I was the only solo or all were solo). If I were killer, I'd assume we were SWF (like the time myself and another survivor sabo'ed two hooks around the killer, forcing them to dump the downed man; you'd never convince me if I were the killer that that happened by pure chance :D)

Unfortunately that isn't something that happens often as you need other solos who REALLY know what they're doing and are also willing to do things for the team, even if it's to their detriment. It's just not something you run into very often as a solo player.

Except unlike Sluzzy, he challenged you to a 1v1 and then chickened out when you accepted.

1v1 me snipers only Shipment noob!!!

    Ah to be young again...

(...oh God, will anyone even recognize that reference!???!!!)

  • The event isn't happening right now, right?

Not that I don't believe people but where is everyone getting the info about the event? I don't see things here or their Twitter so is this just leaked stuff people believe is legit or is there another place "official" announcements are made?

  • My general rule is to go easy and let the survivors essentially go (once I hook them twice, I just stop trying to hook them again as I'll "lose track of the survivor" if I wound them and they'll be killed if I drop them). But that is my personal rule (just like I won't tunnel or camp unless absolutely necessary), not a game rule.

HOWEVER, if survivors want to sit here and spout off about killers not having empathy, this is another "look in the damn mirror" moment as I've STILL gotten GGEZ messages from survivors after doing this. Like...it should have been painfully obvious that I wasn't attempting to kill you and you still have the audacity to mock me because you won? Like the "I used to be a nice killer but survivors were such jerks about it that I stopped" threads we see every so often, I absolutely understand why a killer might just say F it and put a bullet in the game ASAP. It sucks for me as a survivor but I get it.

  • Bubba has the same issues as a lot of killers do only magnified. Against poor survivors, he is incredibly OP because he can cut through them like a chainsaw through a Dwight but against survivors who are good enough at chases to plan their routes, Bubba is turned into a crappy M1 killer who can't do much (or worst case, they can really make a Bubba look foolish if they're good at looping and keep forcing him to bump into things since the game can have some...questionable collision at times).

Granted, sometimes a good survivor can still get the short end of the stick with RNG tile placement against Bubba but that same exact argument can be flipped right around and say there are times when Bubba gets the short end of the stick with RNG too...

He's not OP but like most things in this game, he can seem OP to new survivors. But you can't make a bunch of adjustments to him to help new survivors take him on because then he'll become worthless once you get to higher level survivors who know how to game the system.

  • I have the Series X so this isn't an issue that affects me (Well I guess the Grind does but I'm not bothered by that).

If I still had my last gen console, I wouldn't spend a damn dime on DLC in this game. This has been such an absolute clown show of a launch that I don't know if I would ever be willing to trust BHVR again until I upgraded to the new consoles (and even now with my Series X, I cringe at every update expecting this one to start causing the game to poop itself like it had been before I upgraded...).

  • It works until they lose a bunch of those new people because the game turned into a broken mess of garbage and then you also lose more veteran players because...well...broken mess of garbage

Unfortunately BHVR seems to be fine with the short term gains at the expense of their game's life...

  • *Sad Chainsaw Noises*

As others have stated, it's pretty obvious; it's really easy to Face Camp with Bubba due to the nature of his powers. It's likely that the person that is camping you as Bubba would camp you with any character, it's just really effective with Bubba so they gravitate to him.

I do find it silly as I play Bubba constantly and he's incredibly powerful but so many people just settle for one kill sitting there rather than going after others. But I can only control my Bubba, not theirs.

  • Probably but we're never going to see something like that.

Bloodpoints literally cost BHVR nothing but they're stingy as hell with those when it comes to "We done F'ed up (again). Sorry!". If they're gonna be stingy with their $0 Sorry, they're gonna be super stingy on anything that might cost them a little bit of money...

  • At this point, there's no use getting mad. It is clear BHVR is more interested in pumping content out than making sure said content works. It's unfortunate as I'm sure most players would agree this game DESPERATELY needs a content break so they can fix all the stuff that is broken but I'm not going to hold my breath for it.

BHVR is what they are. Like the scorpion on the frog's back, it's in their nature to do this, even if it'll make them drown their own game eventually...

  • I would also consider myself a Team Player

If it's EGC, I will do everything I can to save them unless it is hopeless (camping Bubba in the basement for example). As solo, I can't see everything but if I am on 0 hooks and someone else is on 2 hooks, I'll generally hop off the gens to try to get the killer to come at me bro instead. I run Bond and Kindred specifically so I can keep an eye on my fellow survivors to hopefully help them out as much as possible.

I am not stealthy unless the killer hasn't spotted me when they're on their way to me but as soon as they wander away, I'm right back on the gens. I feel like I am at least an average looper so I'm not looking to get into chases but I will not do everything I can to avoid it either.

  • I have no idea (which is also why I said that maybe you're being lied to by someone claiming to be from Behavior) because it is demonstrably not against the rules. It is so not against the rules that it is SPECIFICALLY called out in the rules that being camped is not against the rules and any reports against it will be disregarded.

I suppose it's not impossible that Behavior is changing their mind and for some reason have determined that you get to be the first one to find out but the devs have specifically stated it is not against the rules.

  • #1. Either you're lying or the person who is claiming to be Behavior is lying because there is not anything against the rules on Face Camping. The closest thing to punishment is you get dinged in an emblem for proximity to the hook. The developers have specifically and repeatedly said that it is not against the rules and is a valid, if kind of a dumb, strategy

#2. As stated above, that would be Naming & Shaming and therefore against the rules of the forum

    Permanent bans : APPEALS

    Send a Ticket to support.deadbydaylight.com
If the ban is an automated EAC ban, please contact EAC directly. https://www.easy.ac/en-us/support/game/contact/appeal/

    Console bans

The rules are the same as the PC bans

    Crossplatform ban evasion

Players who have violated our rules multiple times leading to permanent bans could get their access revoked on any accounts they make if the player is seen committing bannable offenses after the very first permanent ban. The structure and severity of these bans are followed throughout any platform.

    Abuse of Support Services

This includes making false support tickets and lying to support agents. Our agents are always here to help the community. However, those making false tickets just to get a step ahead of everyone else and take advantage hinders our ability to better help everyone. Penalties include suspension of your support services, up to a permanent ban of your in-game account.

You will notice that camping is specifically called out as NOT against the rules here
