  • Even if you're not Seal Team SWF, the ability to say "Killer is chasing me" is worth it's weight in gold.

If I know the killer is chasing survivor A, I can hammer the hell out of these gens and know I am completely safe. If Survivor A was working on a gen just about to pop, I know I'm safe to finish it. If I find their Undying Ruin, I know I'm safe to work it as the killer is occupied and therefore unlikely to notice me breaking their totem (and if they do, the chased can warm me).

It doesn't take a Seal Team SWF to give SWF a HUGE advantage and it's absolutely baffling how so many survivors just somehow don't understand that.

Ultimately the biggest issue becomes what to do about it. Get rid of SWF and the game dies. You could add comms but I have zero desire to listen to some kid screeching COME SAVE ME!!!!!! 2 seconds into their hooking. Could add basic communication things like "I'm being chased" or whatnot but that feels like it would drastically change the game for the worse (I like this game BECAUSE I think the lack of communication is what makes it great).

    So...IDK :D

  • I didn't buy the game (Game Pass) and I still play it

While the game has plenty of problems, it also offers a very unique experience you can't really get from anywhere else.

  • I imagine a killer would counter crows the same way a flock of Blendettes counters it; move slightly every few seconds so the game doesn't see you as AFK

  • Construct more Pylons!

Unfortunately for the most part, there's not a ton you can do against Seal Team SWF. Your biggest hope is that they're just not very good but much of it is just kind of out of your hands.

Can I have your stuff? I mean, if the chainsaws come down the wrong way. Or if someone greases the unicycle...

Everything but my golf clubs are fair game to whoever gets to them first. My clubs are being buried with me so I can golf in Hell.

pffft, amatuer, if you were a true juggler you'd light the chainsaws on fire

But I'm not a juggler! Hence why the network is so unstable!!!

...if I learn to juggle, maybe it'll fix the servers!

    BRB

  • They are currently off. I assume it is because the game is about as stable as me trying to ride a unicycle while juggling three chainsaws on a tightrope suspended 8000 feet in the air in the middle of a hurricane.

So... it'll probably be a while before the DC penalties come back

  • I have been using survivors with no real perks (I started prestiging people starting at the top; seemed like a good idea at the time!!!) so I absolutely feel your pain here.

That said, while I'd love to get killers who just kind of lay back play so I can do my thing, get bp, and go, I don't fault players who are just playing as normal. People going out of their way to ruin the event for people can take a long walk off a short plank but I can't really fault people for playing the game.

  • I suppose I can't know until I actually try the "buffed" version but it sounds like my assumption on his development remains the same...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqaCEPwWGtc

EDIT: To add a bit more of a discussion, I still just don't understand why his knives decay automatically period. Like...I'd get if the survivor could wipe them away with a "mending" type action but I can't think of a single killer where they can do some kind of damage to you and it just goes away on it's own without the survivor having to do something (go uninsane from Doc, Cleanse from Plague, Mend from Legion, etc).

  • Bubba made the cake using his own secret flavoring ingredient!

But he can't tell you what that is. It's an old family recipe.

  • *Sad URRRAHHHURRRAHHHURRRAHHHH noises*

  • I have been desperately repeating the names of survivors I have on their Death Hook like some kind of demented murdering Rain Man as I try to not Death Hook anyone when cakes are in play.

*Yes, xXx_DwelfMain69_xXx has been hooked twice. Definitely hooked twice. Twice xXx_DwelfMain69_xXx has been hooked. I've hooked xXx_DwelfMain69_xXx twice. Definitely, definitely twice.*

Alright, I took down xXx_DwelfMain69_xXx again!

    ...

Crap, is he on his Death Hook?

  • Personally, I've seen very little tunneling (but I also see very little tunneling in normal DBD times). I'm at Red Ranks, generally between 4 and 1 pending how good everything is going.

I don't know if it's my area, that I don't BM (so no killer has any reason to single me out ever), or if my definition of tunneling is VERY different from other people's (it's amazing how often I will be accused of tunneling as a Killer when I did no such thing so it might be that my definition for when a killer is tunneling is far stricter than others; a killer who happens to find you first again 30 seconds after you were unhooked the first time is not tunneling guys).

  • To my knowledge, they are not as long as the game didn't actually load

If the game loaded and they DC'ed, then you still get stuck burning it as you're playing the game but they shouldn't burn if it did the "Player Disconnected while the game was loading" thingy

  • It is super random and finicky.

I will have Bloodwebs with 3 cakes in them and then get nothing for 4 Bloodwebs and then get 1 for 5 Bloodwebs in a row.

    I'm a glutton though. I want more!!!!

  • I feel like this is exactly what it was like last year since the Flashlights and Medkits and Toolboxes also spawn for survivors.

People complained and it seemed to then shift more to Cakes over the items but I feel like this exact thing went down last year with everyone also complaining about the poor drop rates and then it took like....a week before they tweaked the drop rates to make everyone stop yelling at them :D

  • You didn't do anything wrong in the sense that you can do what you want

I didn't watch your entire video but I caught enough that I think I see why they would be irked as you did a lot of hiding. Which in a vacuum is absolutely fine but when your team is all on Death Hooks, it's best if you can take pressure off of them by getting the killer to come at you instead of them. But that's your decision if you want to risk your life to take pressure off of the other survivors.

Ultimately though, you did nothing wrong. It is your character, you do you. But I'd guess that's why your team was salty at you.

  • Unfortunately some people see a fun event and decide "Yes, this is the time to be a complete tosser"

Like...if you don't want to be nice, I understand. It's still DBD, you still have things to do as a killer/survivor, if you want to just play normal and get your normal points and let the chips fall where they fall, I absolutely understand that

But there does seem to be people who specifically go out of their way to ruin events like this. Unfortunately that's just some people's nature to be complete dickweeds. Not a whole lot you can do about it except try not to let it get to you and not take it out on the next group of strangers you play with.

  • I'm missing the Nurses, Trickster, and Nemesis for killers (Nurse and Trickster because I am not good with them and they suck respectively and Nemesis just because I haven't tried yet) and Leon for survivors (like Nemesis, just haven't tried yet).

I honestly don't know if I'll ever get Nurse or Trickster in this game. Nurse is just stupid frustrating (especially at Red Rank since the game expects me to be really good at the game but with Nurse, I am the opposite of very good) and Trickster is just really bad that he's not even fun to try to adept. Some of the other killers were super hard to get adept for but they were at least fun to play as where Trickster is super hard to get adept for AND he's not fun to try to do it with...

But ultimately I'm not all that worried about it. There are a handful of achievements I am almost certainly never going to get anyway (like blinking 3 times and pulling someone off a gen since Nurse can't even blink 3 times without a special addon). I'll give them all some time to try again anyway but if I never get the adepts for Nurse/Trickster, whatevs.

I’ve been practicing something called “incognito farming”:

Step 1: Choose a killer you’re okay to good at.

Step 2: Run BBQ, Corrupt, Distressing, and ToTH with a blood point offering (preferably either a sacrificial cake or bps).

Step 3: Play partially normal, Chase and hook each survivor AT LEAST ONCE, prevent gens from popping, and other killer activities

Step 4: Either stop hooking once they’re on death hook and just slug until they complete the generators and escape or kill them with/without give the last one hatch (I prefer the slugging option, but you do you).

Step 5: Profit (At least 60,000-80,000 if done correctly and assuming no one else brought a bp offering).

It's what I've been doing and at least plan on the entire event

I'm not all that interested in "true" farming but I am totally on board with playing the game normally and then just not giving the finishing blow so they can get the 5,000 Survival Points.

it's really easy to give survivor hatch/not tunnel than "just don't do gens lol" imo

It's not just "don't do gens".

During this event as a survivor, I will wander around and do totems. I run Bond so if someone is injured, I will seek them out. I won't work on a gen alone as I'll seek out other survivors (cause again, running Bond) to get that sweet sexy coop objective BP for working on a gen with people (significantly slowing the game down since that's just one gen instead of two being popped). Hell, I'll seek out the killer if we're really flying through just to get some chase in.

There are plenty of things I can do as a survivor to slow the game down and give us all wonderful BP. If it's clear the killer is just sweat fest kill time, I'll go back to normal play and just try my best to escape as if it were a normal game.

  • It's been about a 50/50 mix in my experience. Funny enough, I've had way better luck with nice killers letting survivors survive than I have with survivors not gen rushing me.

I don't know if that's just blind luck (or unluck when I'm the killer) or what for me. As a killer, I have yet to put someone on their Death Hook so I'm at least trying to do my part to have everyone get lots of BP (though this might be why survivors are flying through so quickly in that I'm not trying very hard so not a ton of pressure is being put on gens). It would be nice if others did it too but I do not expect going in for others to change what they're doing for the event.

  • @Seraphor said:

In my experience, survivor mains don't have a clue what tunnelling looks like.

So many examples from killer sides where they didn't tunnel but get accused of it anyway. Cases where survivors accuse killers of tunnelling multiple survivors at once...

Just because you got hooked, doesn't mean you were tunnelled, you were probably just the closest/most obvious target.

I've always wondered how every solo survivor on this forum has nothing but camping and tunneling games when I don't seem to get them all that often and I wonder if your post is why.

I play both sides mostly equally (probably a 60/40 split killer favored) and it's amazing how many survivors froth at the mouth in rage at me for tunneling/camping when I did no such thing. The survivor in question has such a tunnel vision that they didn't see all the stuff I did as killer before I ran into them again and therefore the only thing I clearly did was tunnel them after I walked to all the other gens, kicked two of them, couldn't find anyone so I go back to the hooked area where the injured survivor is currently working on the nearest gen and so I smack them...

Tunneling and camping absolutely do exist in this game but to loop it all the way back, I wonder if people saying they get it every single game just have such a crazy loose definition of both that a killer just playing the killer role is by default a tunneler/camper. But I suppose short of having everyone record everything, there's no way to tell if somehow I'm just insanely lucky dodging all these unsporting killers or if survivors are just kind of ignorant on everything a killer does and just assumed they're tunneling because they were found first the second/third time.

  • ONE OF US GOOBLE GOBBLE ONE OF US WE ACCEPT YOU!

But yes, it is incredibly dumb. If you didn't want attention survivor, why did you beg for it?

  • It's basically just normal Dead by Daylight

If that's worth playing to you, then go nutter butters cause you'll get a lot of extra BP with the cakes. If it is not, the event isn't anything to write home about...

You cant play nice without regression perks though... 4 cakes and gen rushing means they earn back almost what they put into the game plus fun bully the killer points🙄

I did realize part of the issue though is that I'm playing with killers I don't really like as I'm going down the list to get the crowns. So started with Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, and Nurse (Wraith being the only one I quasi-like) so a lot of perks aren't there and these are killers I generally don't use so I don't really need to pretend to take my foot off the gas with these peeps :D

Once I collect the crowns for everyone and I can go back to my regular baddies, that might help

  • As others have stated, you don't HAVE to do anything. Hell, if you want to be a toxic sweat squad of a face camping Bubba, you do you

But I'm personally going to try to be nice (or at least not a jerk). I've been on the wrong side against jerks in these kind of events too many times so hopefully I can at least be a shiny happy rainbow in the ######### storm that can be this game...

  • It has been kind of disappointing, especially as I feel like I make it pretty clear I have my foot off the gas in these games (letting people hit me with the pallet, breaking off the chase if I see the crown thingy near them so they can grab it, not sacrificing anyone). Maybe until I at least get my four BBQ stacks I need to keep my foot down and once I at least have that I can try to pump the breaks and let everyone get some delicious cake...

But like the other thread about killers trying super hard, I can only control myself. I'll do my best to be a nice survivor and spread out what I'm doing and let the killer hook me if they have no hooks on me at the end of the game (I suppose I'm running the risk of just getting outright killed but so be it I suppose).

EDIT: I guess I need text to make the youtube thumbnail show up so here's some text

  • Yeah, I've never understood camping...well...ever but ESPECIALLY now. I suppose there are some killers who end up getting a ton of points for it as survivors are probably overly altruistic right now for those sexy sexy stacks (and altruism points) but still.

See also survivors who gen rush and sprint out like if they die in the game, they'll die in real life

But I can't control how others play so whatchagonnado? Some men (and women probably) just want to watch the world burn.

  • The only time I'll even attempt it is if I have no other choice (it's just the two of us so I'm just hoping to get that sweet WGLF Stack, they're about to go to 2nd stage, the killer is camping so we just gotta risk it, etc).

That being said, if I do that as someone without BT equipped, I will also do everything I can to get the killer to come at me instead of you (if for any other reason, another sweet WGLF stack for the protective hit :D). Sometimes it works and the killer either then hooks me or chases me if I wasn't injured already, sometimes it don't but I will avoid farming my teammates (even with that sexy temptress WGLF :P) if I can help it.

But yes, as both a survivor who gets farmed every so often and hell, even as the killer chasing after survivors, it is amazing how many survivors just leave their own team hanging in the wind and farm them for rescue points...

  • I'm going to but I don't expect my opponents to

It would be super if they did but I'm not expecting my opponents to pull their punches. I'm still not interested in farming at all but I have no issue with slugging the survivor on their Death Hook and keeping them in the game or giving the killer a hook if we're almost done and I haven't been hooked yet.

...unless you T-Bag me or do other BM stuff of course. Then the nice gloves come off and you get to play against Normal Tippy2k2

  • Ah, I misunderstood

So they are different in the sense that they show up as "Year 5" crowns in your inventory but not different in the sense that they would be in any way distinguishable from the Year 4 crowns

Which is also good to know. I may go after them with characters who already have it but I'll save them for later then in case I can't get EVERYONE done in the two weeks or so. I don't even use the stupid crowns on anyone but it might be a fun little goal to get everyone a crown anyway.

    Thanks!

  • @Astrian said:

No, you actually got the crowns last year

OK, so if I have them on certain characters from last year, there is no need to go after them again.

Simple really, Deathslinger but you must go for Sharpshooter shots as much as humanly possible, with the objective being at least one down with the addon that lets you instadown with sharpshooter shots

So if they're 14 meters away (meaning you failed the add-on bonus of 15m) but you hit them, do you have to let them go or do you still smack them because you still made a long shot?

  • Ooooh....Deathsniper sounds cool. Tell me more.

  • I feel like killers who are already tunneling are not the killers who really care all that much about their rank or how much BP they get. They just want their 4K, otherwise they wouldn't be tunneling...

  • It's why I always try to get the middle gen first

Sure, you can still get 3 gen'ed but I feel like it's at least less likely if a middle gen is dealt with ASAP

  • I can't necessarily tell if you are on a PS4/Xbox One (I'm on the Series X so I'm not having any issues) but when I've ran into people who I suspect were last gen users, they're teleporting around like Nightcrawler. I just kind of have to...guess at where they're gonna be at and smack them there :D

Generally they don't get very far though as they run into stuff a lot in the process

Personally I have tried to stay away from the resource heavy killers (Nemesis, Freddy, Doc) with the hopes that it might help with the stuttering for the last gen peeps so I haven't seen TOO much of this kind of thing.

  • I'm not smort enough to do that unfortunately. This game just scratches an itch that really can't be scratched by much of anything else. I am kind of hoping that once Back 4 Blood comes out, that might be the Asymmetric Multiplayer game that scratches just as good as DBD and I can also abandon ship. I loved Left 4 Dead so I am really hoping it's gonna be good...

Have fun out there! Whether you come back or not, enjoy whatever you find to play.

  • We don't need no water let the Mother [Naughty Word Censored for Innocent Eyes] burn!

  • At least in Red Ranks, killers are too good at the stutter step to make Smash Hit really all that useful as you rarely get to actually stun them.

Not to mention a few killers like Nurse or even Bubba who basically eliminates pallets completely unless something very strange happens...

I suppose when it works, it's probably one of the most effective exhaust perks for just plain getting away but in my experience, it just doesn't come into play very often.
