  • CoH should only have bonus healing for the people that have the perk. For everyone else it should only activate self-care.

the part he says that’s working as intended is how blight fits through doorways, you can pause and look down after a rush to fit in through doorways but if you looking down before a rush or after a rush to avoid collision that part is a bug

Yeah he says that, but if manipulating your camera hitbox to control your collision is intended, that means by extension the hug tech is intended because thats all that is happening. So even what he says doesn't make any sense. "Its working as intended, therefore bug" Thats not how that works.

  • Okay, but you know you are wrong right? Her power is hard countered by lockers because jumping into one immediately disperses crows. Secondly her crows are like hag traps that you can disarm in chase with a flashlight incredibly easily.

  • He literally says its working as intended based on the hitbox being tied to the camera, and then immediately turns around and says its a bug. Thats not how that works. It can't be 'working as intended' and also be a bug. So considering he said its working as intended first, I'm gonna go with that.

  • I think its because both perks should be FOOS, first order optimal strategies. They are perks that give a lot of power for very little skill in. These are necessary for newer players to even the playing field out against players with more experience. However they should never be the strongest strategies to exist, which is the problem. There should be more complex perks with higher skill ceilings that are more powerful, like devour hope for example. However these perks are usually just not worth the skill in for power out, which is a balancing issue.

  • The irony is that they keep killers down with "but soloq, but new players" completely neglecting the fact that the game is going on 6 years old and the average skill of the community is rising. They also like to pretend that soloq is basically playing a helpless baby thats unable to do anything but march onto a hook and die. Nearly all my hours playing survivor are soloQ and I can easily escape, even 3-4E easily most games.

  • His knife count was already nerfed. You are welcome.

  • Don't forget, killers are balanced with their addons in mind. BHVR must think Freddy's power is unbound destruction with his garbage addons.

  • Most survivor skill is expressed in chase only. Which is why when survivors play long enough they only care about chasing. The primary skill expressed is the ability to chain structures together to extend chase for as long as possible. The secondary skills expressed are more mechanical, such as knowing how best to snap into a window to get a fast vault every time, knowing how much time you have exactly to still get the pallet stun without getting hit through it, etc.

  • If stretched res was preventing kills, then those survivors should have died if they weren't exploiting to begin with. Not any different from hackers to be honest.

  • In fairness, it is pretty weird. When hexes were introduced you got the 3 from Hag, there was doctor, and then huntress lullaby (which I don't even think was a hex on release), and then you wouldn't get another hex perk for killers until Spirit with Haunted Grounds (4 killer span) and then, not again until Deathslinger with Retribution (5 killer span).

Oh boohoo, at least you can't be face camped to death on your first hook as killer and basically not get to play a match.

I don't think thats fun or fair either, I don't like to play that way and it would be nice if survivors gave me a chance to not play that way. I don't go into every game assuming I'm gonna be facing gen assassins that I'll have to comp camp every match, but survivors DO treat me like I'm gonna do that.

yea that ember is nice, it shows you survivors you wouldnt have spotted otherwise. Plaything and Retribution sounds like a nice combo, i will try that out, i was focussing on gen regression (corrupt, pop, deadlock OR corrupt, pop, pain resonance + x) because i had 3 games in a row were gen speed was just insane, but sometimes its just because of some toolboxes or so. When survivors split up around a bigger map i feel very helpless but that could just be a general dbd thing.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2809344#Comment_2809344

yea i try that on pallets and windows very often but they often have enough time to react because if you dont play with double speed or speed and duration youre just not fast enough to backtrack (the exception being very unsave filler pallets)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2809341#Comment_2809341

i've seen some insane comp spirits even after her nerf but i feel that the Stridor nerf also hurt her a lot, i had games with 4 iron will's were you basically just phase around and hope for the best. If you miss a phase, survivors can just hold W to the next pallet because you're 110%, that's so annoying and punishing (against good players who can loop). You will down them eventually when your power comes back, but that costs so much time and compared to other chase killers she feels much more punishing now.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2809331#Comment_2809331

i tried that and 8 stacks is nice for sure, but not being able to chase the obsession is annoying and when i'm out of power it doesn't make that much of a difference with 110%. But the same goes for brutal strength which is mostly just a "quality of life" perk. I will try it again.

You're right about the first part, i was maining her in my early dbd times, then dropped her because i was annoyed of people ragequitting or onsulting me for playing her, i mained Wraith then but it gets boring after a while and now i decided to main her again because downing someone feels more rewarding now, like i actually earned it.

Theres not really much you can do against a good tool box + a large map. Thats just a general problem DBD has for any killer so I wouldn't beat yourself up too badly on those losses. Personally I think the strongest form of gen pressure is by chasing and downing survivors, theres really nothing that slows the game down more than that. Which is why I pick Pain Resonance since it gives you some gen regression, yes but more importantly it gives you macro information of where survivors are concentrating their effort.

Unfortunately in my experience the game doesn't even really start until theres already only 2-3 gens left anyway, maybe thats just me but you are basically giving up at least 1 gen for 1 hook in the early game unless you get lucky. If you are finding yourself having trouble building pressure you can also swap BBQ out for Lethal Pursuer. I just personally prefer the sustained bursts of aura reading from BBQ (also BP).

  • I think originally it was because hackers were giving themselves like a bajillion BP and using it to get old prestige. And then later just made up the BS about wanting it to be fair.

  • The important thing is to lean into her speed. No matter how good a survivor is, it doesn't matter because you are bloodlust 15. It may also be good to play against spirit so you understand more accurately how your movements affect the distribution of sound for survivors. Ultimately, knowing that the survivors know gives you another avenue with which to mind game. Its still a fairly new mechanic, so even playing with spirit for 500 hours its fine if you still need to practice.

Furthermore, I've found that sight is actually more valuable than some make it out to be for spirit. As, when you come out of your phase, survivors are actually brought into your vision with red/orange embers which makes them very easy to track.

Personally my favorite build with spirit is BBQ, Pain Resonance, Retribution, and Plaything. Pain resonance can be replaced with Pentimento if you would prefer more aura reading from Retribution. There is so much aura reading and tracking in this build that it allows you to keep an eye on the macro game while still focusing on what Spirit is good at, the chase.

  • Using these perks causes both possible basements to spawn in the map, also enables scourge perks on basement hooks.

  • Honestly there are so many killer powers that don't work in close proximity to the hooked survivor, I'm not quite sure why hag still gets the privilege other than BHVR just doesn't care to deal with it.

You know whats more frustrating than having 4 enemies? having 5, playing solo queue is the epitome of depression

Honestly I've played a lot of solo que survivors (most of my hours playing survivor in fact) and I find most of the time its better for me to make friends with the killer than it is to rely on my team.

I think other killers do have just as strong add-ons. Nurse has blink recharge, Clown and Huntress have faster projectile speed, Hag has teleport distance, Pig and Pinhead have hidden auras for the side objectives their killer powers spawn, and that's all through add-ons. So are those OP too?

Are those addons as strong as alchemist ring + blighted crow? Maybe nurse recharge blink addons? But I would say none of the other addons are anywhere near as strong as that combination. Most killer addons are massively pathetic and nigh on worthless. And the ones that are even mildly okay get gutted.

At this point I literally want to know who is the blight main on the dev team so maybe they can advocate for any other killer.

  • @fulltonon said:

You unironically need 6m bp to do that.

I think its closer to 7 or 8m with poor RNG

  • Its either going to be insanely common because of how miserable it is to play killer, or its going to be about 1/4th as common as subtle survivor hacking.

  • Because in order to face the top tier survivors at the tippy top of skill you have to match them EXACTLY for meta scumminess, or you will lose. Period. There is no ifs ands or buts. Anything less and you will lose. If you don't play a killer with strong addons and strong perks you will lose. And badly.

I played trapper last night just trying to do my daily and I had corrupt intervention + dead lock. Survivors STILL blasted through 3 gens before I could even finish setting up. The only reason I got it is because I eventually just quit and stood by the door waiting for the survivors to finish and the survivors TOOK PITY on me and stood in my traps.

Even when you aren't high MMR you find good survivors. Literally the only way to have an 'easy' game as a killer is to try and maintain an MMR of 1100~ so you are most likely to go against babies. Anything more or less than that and you will find good survivors. The only difference is how much they care about escaping, but they'll still happily smash gens and loop you for 1,000 years because of 900 second chance perks.

They are not afraid of buffing killers, they just dont buff killers because they know that this game is already killer sided. Buffing killers would result in survivor mains leaving the game.. cant you see that? Besides, killers already have enough good addons like Alchemist Ring, Iridescent Head and Pinky Finger.

Survivors are going to leave the game faster if all they see is bubba face camping at 5 gens for an EZ 4k. Don't you understand that you have to allow killers to be powerful so survivors can have fun? Otherwise its no fun for literally anyone. Also Pinky finger was gutted even though its trash, and iri head is now worse than having no addons. Of those the only decent example of a good addon is alchemist ring, and I think every killer should have an addon thats just as strong.

    1. They already nerfed loops with map reworks
    2. Gen speed isnt fast, if anything its slow due to gen defence perks killers have.

    1. They returned god loops with map reworks and breakable walls.

    2. The only reason the gens aren't the fastest they've ever been is because old BNP used to finish whole generators.

Killers are also balanced with their addons in mind. Survivors are not balanced with their tools in mind. (If they were, those 8 second heals with medkits + CoH wouldn't be a thing.) I feel they are only OP because no other killer has anything of the sort.

Why? So killers can get ez 4ks every match? Lmao. Do you want survivors to leave the game? Because it looks like you killer mains wont be satisfied until survivors start the trial on hooks.. Just accept that some killers deserve nerfs. Killer role os not as weak as you think.

Killers can already EZ 4K every match by face camping at 5gens, of course its not that hard. But thats going to drive survivors away faster than being able to face strong, interactive killers. Its hard to interact with bubba's chainsaw on the hook. People complain about blight all day every day, but I bet if the only killer survivors saw at high MMR was bubba and face camping then the game would die.

Killer's not for everyone. I like it. But it definitely takes patience.

It would be nice if they made it appeal to 20% of DBD players somehow.

Just too afraid to buff killers until they all have nice things like alchemist ring, blighted crow, and adrenaline vial

  • No, I want BHVR to give power to other killers and their addons instead of nerfing stuff.

  • I made a thread awhile ago that BHVR has to decide if dead hard is for distance or for invulnerability. Got no response.

  • Honestly, the bonus healing should only affect the person with CoH inside their own boon and it should only enable self care for other survivors. This would actually make it worth running the perk yourself instead of just hoping someone else brings it because its so broken.

  • I wish survivors would chill out and at least give a killer a chance to see how they play instead of just assuming we all camp and tunnel. I don't play every game assuming there is some survivor hit squad thats going to boil over me to death.

  • Okay, then survivors must earn their DS, they can't just be hooked and get it for free anymore.

  • Honestly it seems like every game I play as killer feels like there is at least 1 speed hacker in it.

  • Most good killer perks are spread more thinly than any survivor perks. I think a survivor can reasonably level 2 survivors to 40 and have a strong build. (Meg, David for Dead Hard/Sprint Burst, Adrenaline, WGLF, and spine chill)

I think the best 2 killer combination of perks you can get is Hag, Clown for Ruin, Devour Hope, Pop, Bamboozle

  • Its because the devs are genuinely incompetent at their jobs and understand little to absolutely nothing about their own game. They don't realize that if they intend on balancing killers with their addons in mind that each killer must have their own Alchemist ring + blighted crow.

Which not only do most killers not have a combo that strong, the ones that DO have said addons have had them gutted (iri head, pinky finger).

And then the killer powers themselves are so weak that they are worthless. 99% of the time I don't even use legion's power for its intended purpose, instead I use it to get around the map because the unintended use is the SUPERIOR way to use it.

Lets not even get into the fact that killers are more often punished for their success instead of being rewarded, which makes killers feel awful to play. (Looking at the Victor pounce nerf.)

  • I think it depends on if you want their perks or not. Play with your food, and Save the best for last can be quite strong in certain builds. Remember me and Blood Warden have become pretty popular lately in full end game builds. Surveillance can be a great information perk coupled with Ruin, and Make your choice adds nice lethality to any killer that might need it to snowball.

  • @Laluzi said:

Flashlights are powerful, but in most situations they're easily countered by being cautious before picking someone up. If someone has a flashlight and they're not accounted for, do a quick circuit of the area to make sure you're in the clear. Listen for footsteps. Maybe fake the pickup and see if anyone comes running out. Sometimes you'll still get surprised, but you can prevent a lot of blinds this way.

And Lightborn's always a fix for the 4-beamer squads who swarm downs like their lives depend on it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2793567#Comment_2793567

Really? I always considered flashbangs to be way harder to use against anyone who is a.) competent and b.) not Wraith; easier to see coming and avoid, harder to get the timing right, can't correct if you mess something up, have to get much closer to the killer in order to use them in an animation lock than you would for a flashlight blind.

Yeah but I also said the 'average' players hands. Unfortunately most consoles don't have the pinpoint accuracy to use flashlights well, so the fact they are long range means less. Its far easier, once understanding the timing, to use a flash bang because its effect is also AOE, so you can use it proactively in a way that intuits what the killer is going to do.

  • If the player is solo queue then I don't see any harm in showing them the killer's perks before the match ends. Like what are they reasonably going to do once that information is revealed? Somehow message the other players mid game to tell them this information? That sounds ridiculous.

  • Honestly in the average players hands, Flashbang type items are probably way more OP. Yes they are single use, however because of their different rules of flashlight saving they are generally easier to pick up/use effectively.

  • I actually posted a thread about this a few months ago asking why killers were punished more for not being able to complete their objective (Hooks/kills) compared to survivors who could still easily 2 pip even if they died, failing their objective entirely. Even though the emblems/pips basically mean nothing more than who plays the most.

  • They technically stack. When a hook occurs both perks activate, the pain resonance causing survivors to scream which in turn causes them to let go of the gen and activates dead man's switch to block the gen.

But while a generator is blocked it cannot be regressed, so that means if a generator is blocked then it'll stop regressing. e.g. you have to go damage the generator after the block to cause it to start regressing if you are using only pain resonance.

While a generator is blocked Ruin will also not start regression.

  • I mostly enjoy tunneling because I only want 2 hooks on everyone and usually there is 1 guy that I have to hook last back to back.

  • Oh wow, a game delay perk that actually delays the game! gasp shock horror

  • @agonizing said:

You cannot. The top 0.0001% of killers with the most competitive builds WILL lose 99.9999% of the time to the top 0.0001% of survivors with the most competitor builds.

It’s the reason multiple DH, Unbreakables, etc. are banned in top tournaments.

This is literally just not true, Swish had a tournament where nothing was banned at all and on average the matches got 2 kills, 2 escapes like 7-8 hooks a game. But killers were also bringing massively broken ######### like alchemist ring + crow and so on which not every killer has access to a version of.

  • Honestly in my experience playing survivor, other survivors kill me more often than the killer does.

  • I feel like the actual fix that needs to happen here is reducing the height that counts for the bonus... I've been using boil over and have gained progress just from the killer walking down some stairs too fast. That seems massively broken.

  • @PigMainBigBrain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2785589#Comment_2785589

Power creep isn't always the answer. I mean...it is if you dunno what to do. But 9 times out of 10 things can be toned back rather than buffed to extreme measures. Unless the thing you're working on is just a trash skill....in which case, it gets buffed to the moon.

I'm unsure what power creep you are describing here. I'm almost positive that outside of a specific niche purpose, the new boil over will never be used over currently used meta perks.

Does toning things back make for a fun game though? The less impactful you make a perk, the less enjoyable it is to use. I'm a big believer in a circular imbalance type system, especially for a game like this. And for that sort of balance everything must be strong.

So I would prefer they buffed things up to be meta. I just wish they would do it sooner and faster than they do it now. I feel like thats the real problem, BHVR roll changes out so slowly and tentatively that nothing has the chance to shake loose and be changed.
