I've been on the Corrupt/Deadlock "milk bottle" I guess you could say for too long. Because what happens when I don't have those perks? The gens fly. Survivors spawn on gens, they do them, and by that time I've got 1 down max. So I'm basically starting the game at 2 gens. "But don't nerf gen speed! Survivors can't handle that! This is definitely a real statement!" Try playing above ash grade. You'll see what I mean with the gen speed.

At this point, survivors don't even need meta perks. They could bring 1 or 2, the essentials like BT. But against 80% of killers, it's easy as pie from start to finish. They aren't at threat of dying in the slightest, save for them screwing up or going against very specific killers. If they can't loop the killer for more than 20 seconds, that's fine. The gens will get done as soon as the game begins anyway, so they can afford to get downed like there's no tomorrow. 80 seconds: That's all it takes to get 2-3 gens done.

And Corrupt wasn't even enough slowdown, I kid you not. Killers are still humoring gen defence as a viable strategy against top level, but it just doesn't mean anything. You use hexes, they go down. You use Scourge hooks, you waste time walking to specific ones. You use Pop or Surge, your regression is undone in literally 10 seconds. So we started using Deadlock, because it's like Corrupt but for midgame. Now No Way Out is popular to run alongside them, because with that perk we actually get rewarded for hooking everyone, and the game isn't instantly decided once all the gens are done.

There's zero point in defending gens or trying to end chases quickly, because the gens fly no matter what. All there is is what I've just described: gen delay. Not regression, not "defence". Delay. It's the only viable strategy for killers, and when it's gone we're gone.

    I don't use Corrupt myself.

I'd imagine most trolly SWFs would hide their friends lists to ensure they dont get dodged?

If youre referring to avoiding SWFs you've played before: Can survivors not be given the same option then - to not face a killer they've been against before?

I've had many games before where I play solo and a killer would use as many busted offerings as possible to just facecamp me because I didnt give them a BBQ stack before (not from DC just from not being downed and hooked).

TLDR: Whats fair for one is fair for all... Either all should know the player theyre facing or nobody should...

Anyone should be able to avoid playing against anyone they feel is a troll. Yes.

That's what I'm saying. You're applying your own, subjective experience of a very limited number of players to the entirety of SWF. Just because you've encountered a lot of trolls does not mean that the majority of SWF is out to troll.

You don't know how much I play. Limited? No. I play alot. All I have is my experience to go off of. I can't go off of yours or anyone elses. I call it like I see it most of the time. Not all SWF groups are trolls but just about all trolls are in a SWF group. If you want to continue telling me I'm wrong, please feel free. I see no further need to continue repeating myself.

Yes. As I just said, SWF IS an advantage. But that's not the reason people play SWF, people do it because they enjoy playing with their friends.

You must have a very cynical view of the world if you think that people playing SWF are specifically out to get you lol.

I go off experience. Does every SWF go into a match to troll? No. Have I ran into alot of SWF trolls? Yes. Many many more than Solo trolls. When you have a lack of fear because of the inherent advantage you have in an SWF, I've noticed survivors enjoy the trolling more often.

  • @OnryosTapeRentals said:

You thinking that players are out to troll and "piss you off" is not the same as players actually being out to troll and piss you off.

When they're flashlighting all the time and got the teabags going I know they're trying to piss me off. It's obvious. Thankfully, I'm too old to get that irritated.

  • @OnryosTapeRentals said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2700065#Comment_2700065

OBVIOUSLY playing SWF is an advantage over solo queue. No-one is arguing any different, but let's not pretend that most SWF aren't literally just playing the game with their friends. The narrative that all SWF are some evil group out to ruin the match for a killer is absurd.

Most SWF don't sit and scheme prior to the match thinking "Yeah let me play with my friends so we can have a big advantage and ruin the fun of ther opposing team...". Most literally just want to play with their friends and have a good time. The power imbalance is an unfortunate consequence of playing SWF but not the single reason people play it.

They don't have to sit and scheme because the very nature of SWF with Discord already gives them huge advantages.

  • @SleepyWillo said:

Killers be dodging lobbies when survivors arent wearing default cosmetics.

Cosmetics and player names should be hidden in the lobby screen. It really only encourages dodging and altered playstyles...

Nothing wrong with killers avoiding SWF groups. Most of them I've encountered are nothing more than a group of trolls going out of their way to piss you off because they know they have a massive advantage.

Oh I'm not arguing what op is arguing and saying it's impossible entirely I'm arguing something completely different entirely

I'm arguing shack is a huge time waster vs good survivors and is a loop you should just leave

Ik you'll get the down eventually you and I both know that me and you aren't arguing I agree with your point entirely

I'm just saying as a killer playing vs someone as good as me it's really not in your best interest to play shack with me it's not worth the time wasted

The ironic part is I really don't play that much survivor but I watch a ton of good survivors play and I probably got about 3k to 5k hours on deathslinger so that's the only reason I'm a above average survivor

Should always try to avoid shack no matter who you're playing against. Shack is a massive time sink.

Punishing people for wanting to play the game with their friends is a horrible idea that will just turn away a large portion of players.

Instead, the developers need to buff solo survivor to the level of SWF and buff killers accordingly to compensate - which is what they said they were going to do a while ago now.

I'd guess it's more about playing with others they may or may not know well to gain an advantage over the killer and less about actually playing with friends. I get tired of seeing the "you wanna punish people for playing with their friends" excuse. Everyone knows when you're in a good SWF you have a big advantage.

Yes. Even the best player cannot play win against 4 well organized SWF that most of the perks don't work on them like plaything, histeria etc. I don't even comment on slow down perks, because they're useless too. The game was always meant to be 1 killer vs 4 strangers.

Agreed. Don't care how good you are at killer. You're not gonna win consistently against high tier SWF squads.

One other odd factor seems to be is you are a solo que or group.

When I solo que 15 to 20 mims when I am in a group of 2 or 3 people 3 to 5 mins. I am unsure why, as this is at the same time.

Seems to be based on MMR then. It's a known fact that SWF groups tend to have higher MMR ratings than solo seeing as how the game is easier in a group. Alot easier.

    Unlikely.

I'm a bad Survivor and my queues are still 5-10 minutes.

Then someone is lying or it's a location thing. The ques are either long or they aren't. They're long for me. Especially, after 5 pm Central time.

  • Me too. My ques take a long time as survivor. Instant survivor ques must be a low MMR thing.

Yeah, but licensed chapters also means limited content (Cosmetics, for example).

And yeah, I was excited when the Artist's chapter came out because she has an interesting power and concept, and her perks were good/ok. Didn't really care about Jonah or his perks, though. Plus we got a map out of it, which was desperately needed.

I don't think anyone cared about Jonah. I don't think anyone does now. Which is sad because he's not bad. The only licensed killers that have limited cosmetics are Freddy and Myers. That's because they always wore the same thing. They could do a New Nightmare costume for Freddy if they could get the license. Leatherface had alot of different costumes. So does Jason if we ever get him. Pinhead has the Cenobite skins.

  • @Aurelle said:

Not gonna lie, I'm getting really tired of licensed chapters. I don't even feel excited for this.

But crow lady from Chile, where there are no crows apparently, gets you excited? The Artist, to me, wasn't exciting ever. At any point. Licensed survivors and killers bring in more revenue and more players.

well.. why are you allowed to comment on my personal statement but it’s somehow rude when I merely say I don’t care about your opinion? Again, I never insulted you nor did I want to be rude. But your opinion will not change my take on this and I stated so. I posted it fully knowing many people disagree or don’t care about it. And may state so. And that’s okay for me.

‚many‘ is of course subjective in this case. But the absence of some active forum members is notable. And it doesn’t even matter how many left or didn’t. It’s still a scandal for me.

and I ask you to reread all my comments and your comments towards me with a calm voice. You will notice that you are using terms like ‚why the hell‘ and ‚lol please‘ while I am not/only in direct response.

    Fair enough.

how am I exaggerating when I just said i want it clarified before I pay for something again?? I wasn’t telling others to follow me or boycott DbD or anything. And I can very much state that I don’t care about your opinion on this when it’s only involving me. If anyone here was rude it was you with your first answer. You can disagree with my assessment. And I don’t have to care about your disagreement.

and just because the damage was already done doesn’t mean I have to sit by and watch it being done again and again. Just because many people don’t care doesn’t mean it’s not a problem or a scandal from my point of view.

also regarding the forum members, I never said all of them were banned? Most of them left the forums/the game without breaking any rules…

If it's only involving you then why the hell are you posting it on the forums? Once it's posted I have the right to say my opinion whether you want to hear it or not. You we're rude about it. Period. I don't tell people that I don't care about their opinion on here. I never have. Also, you said many people quit the game over NFTs and I said I doubt that. I think you're exaggerating. When people are mad they tend to exaggerate. You can't do anything about the NFTs anyways. Personally, I'm sick of hearing people complain about it but others have a right to disagree with me. I don't have the right to be rude to them. Once you post your opinion on the Internet it no longer only involves you.

You reveal that Spirit’s inspiration is coming to DBD and probably will pull a Billy with Spirit soon to make everyone buy the ring girl with money over saving shards for an original. Spirit will always be better so don’t do anything to her BHVR or I’m probably quitting the game. I almost quit when NFTs happened but Spirit was the only thing keeping me from leaving.

Also, it’s been only two weeks since Artist came out and let’s just forget all about her like that and reveal the next chapter that probably won’t come out for another 3 months. How about you instead give Artist some love with cosmetics because she only has 3?

Rin and Carmina don’t deserve any of this!

She just came out. How many cosmetics do you expect? She's been out for what? Two weeks? Also, why would you waste all the money I assume you've spent on this game and even consider leaving this game over NFT stuff? I'm not gonna waste the hundreds I've spent over that.

i just said i don’t care what you think about it. I didn’t insult you or made any ‚lol please‘ comments which surely are rude.

also there are quite a few known forum members that left because of it and others that got banned because they have spoken out against it (and broken forum rules doing so).

of course many casual player haven’t even heard of BHVRs involvement with NFTs, but that doesn’t make it any better and doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be clarification

I'm aware of what NFT means. All I'm saying is I think you're exaggerating. I doubt that many people left the game. If they were causing problems on the forums they should've been banned anyways. You were rude. The first person that disagrees with your assessment and you tell them you don't care what they have to say. I've seen so many posts with people saying they don't give a ######### about NFTs. Personally, I'm with you regarding the NFTs but I also recognize that the damage is done now and I sure as hell won't leave the game or get banned over it.

DbD just announce the next DLC in March is Ringu, so presumably the killer is evil ghost girl Samara (sweet!) Definitely a killer with a great potential look to her, and a fun story.

What I’m wondering about though is what her actual abilities in game will be? Total speculation right now obviously, but curious what you guys think she’ll actually be able to do?

Couple of possibilities I can think of that fit the theme

    • Samara’s schtick is cursing people who watch her video so they eventually die. It could be interesting to have a curse mechanism where Samara can mark survivors and after a while something bad happens to them.
    • Or along those lines of cursing people who watch her, another fun way to do it would be if a survivor looks at Samara for too long something bad happens, like they get Hindered or Exposed. (I had an idea for a Medusa killer that could do this, but I could see it working for Samara too.) Basically she’d be a killer that survivors are actually afraid to look at during a chase or when doing gens, etc.
    • They also could have televisions or “wells”, etc, scattered around the map that she could teleport between.
    • And maybe a hallucination type ability ala Doctor could fit, since cursed victims tend to have weird visions.

She doesn’t strike me as being mechanically like Spirit or Nurse so it’ll be interesting to see how they handle her in game!

Her name probably won't be Samara. I'm sure she will get teabagged, FL induced seizures, and nerfs.

I don’t care what you think about it.

many people are still upset about it and many people left the game because of it. They made 2 statements that are kinda contradicting eachother and never clarified this. I at least want to be sure they don’t make the same mistake twice so won’t buy licensed chapter rightaway.

I doubt many people left the game over it. lol please. No need to be so rude.

  • @Mooks said:

I guess we should stop predicting if next chapter is gonna be licensed/original based on patterns or what devs said about how many licenses they do etc.

makes it more unpredictable so I am fine with that.

that said. I am still kinda waiting on them clarifying this whole NFT scandal (and the cheater epidemic) and am not willing to directly pay money on anything in DbD..

Definitely wouldn't call the NFT thing a scandal. I'd wager not that many people care.

Overcharge. A meagre benefit for going out of your way to kick a generator, which is not something you want to be doing without a perk to make it worthwhile, which Overcharge does not. Maybe if you pair it with another on-kick perk like Pop or Oppression, but at that point, you're two perks in for regression and there are way better combos to use.

You should always kick a gen regardless if you're using gen regression perks or not. It only takes a second and sometimes the survivors don't come back to it for a while.

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

Eventually yeah you'll die if the killer has a hard-on for you. And while it's a strategy, many would agree that it's a dirty one and honestly, having Decisive Strike available twice will push killers away from tunnelling because of the time wasted, making them an overall better player, no? Those who tunnel often only get 1k by the time gates are open, which means that it's not a great strategy, despite some members here thinking otherwise.

Sometimes the unhooked survivor is the only survivor a killer can find. Or when their teammates unhook them in front of the killer. What's the killer suppose to do? Let the unhooked survivor go because nice manners? I understand wanting to punish tunneling but the OP suggestion is going to punish every killer at some point.

  • @dallasmedicbag said:

I really think with the current state DS is in right now, it is the most balanced it could ever be. Therefore, I don't think having DS usable twice would really hurt killers, as the simplest solution is... don't tunnel. Always go for the unhooker instead.

Why I'm in favor for this change is because once you used up DS, the killer will have no fear of tunnelling you anymore and will go out of their way to make sure you are out of the game ASAP - which makes for stale gameplay for the survivor.

Please don't bring up buffing killer perks, this thread is purely discussing how to make DS better while not making it unfair.

Tunneling may be a noob tactic but it's not illegal or against the rules. DS is fine where it is. If the killer wants you dead bad enough you're gonna die. Unfortunate side effect of playing DbD. Can't keep buffing DS and other perks because some low MMR killers like to tunnel.

I can run the killer pretty well in 8/10 of my games to the point they leave me and chase someone else. I do gens and I feel I make decent decisions but I'm constantly losing. I'm usually the last survivor with the most points, sometimes I get hatch sometimes not. I don't know if it's the time I play 8pm est and later? Anyway here's an example of the match I had when typing this. 2 survivors going down within 10 seconds of a chase and then trying to unhook each other in front of the killer as the 3rd survivor kept blessing totems. Game was over in under 5 with me killing myself on hook while the last survivor hid in a locker after the first 2 survivors died. Granted this game was not typical as my matches usually aren't this bad. I just feel like most the killers I play against aren't great so it get's incredibly frustrating playing this game just to lose all the time. I would like to point out that I have had good teammates in probably 10% of my matches lately and I do understand how killers can get ######### on but like ######### is going on?

    Perceived?

They flag Mori's and keys as issues, then nerf Mori's, fine, but take a year to nerf keys.

Add boon's to the game and make CoH practically impossible to deal with when there is multiple versions of this boon.

Release a fun Christmas event, that gives Survs a free health state.

Yeah it's defiantly all in the minds of Killer players.

The general concenus is there are more Survivor main's than killers and from a business point of view you need to make dollars marketing to them, but it's a fine line between business and balance, and it appears that the game in it's current form is rubbish for Killers.

There is like 4 killer's that are viable at high ranks, so combine that with perks, maps, swfs and this event i'd rather play something else, and it seems alot of Killer mains feel that way as well.

Preaching to the choir mate. I'm with you. I play both sides half and half but I agree the devs ######### all over killer players. The only ones they seem to care about are the people buying pajama and Dwelf cosmetics. Then they come out with this stupid event that just serves the survivors with potential extra health states and extended loops and ruins Ghostface marking. Also, I don't believe ANY killer is viable against an experienced SWF squad. They are gonna stomp all over you no matter if you're Nurse or Clown. I wouldn't believe anyone coming on here saying their survivor ques are fast at night. My nightly experience says otherwise and there's no reason to believe they have some sort of VIP access. The only way their que would be faster is if they are bottom of the barrel MMR.

You believe him that (whoever that guy is) he got to 24h for game crashes? Yea, sure.

Maybe he should get better wifi or a better PC then.

    Or just stop ragequitting.

EDIT: I guess ,,ai" is just a typo and you meant ,,i" for yourself.

People like this are all rage quitters. They come on here trying to fool everyone. No one believes your Internet service crashes that much. You've earned your ban.

Yet all of his perks are way too useless and situational for solo players.

Ash vs Evil Dead is is basically the worst DLC in the entire game.

Literally BHVR should consider reworking his perks and make them useful only for solo player as the true lonely wolf.

I almost forgot by this time that he's in the game. Please rework him.

I agree and he's my favorite survivor. It really does suck. Every one of his perks are useless besides MoM and that's too situational and hard to pull off.

Maybe I'm alone here I don't know but I can't have fun anymore when I play as a killer.

Either I have to sweat extremely hard to kill them with the same perks over and over which is no fun and just work or I try new thinks (like the new killer) and get bullied and genrushed in 5 minutes with a teabagging group at the exit gate as a bonus.

How are other people seeing this? Please tell me a way to have fun without having to play blight with ruin and thinkerer.

Try not to care as much about winning or losing. I get pissed off myself but rarely. Usually when I deal with Dead Hard all match from multiple survivors. I'll admit I quit a match yesterday after dealing with DH from all 4 survivors but I usually don't get that annoyed. You don't have to run meta perks. You're making yourself do that.

Yeah I don't really get all the doom and gloom around killer right now. Unless you main Trapper, Myers or Legion. Then you have my condolences.

We just got a good killer released with 2 good perks (+1 usable but underwhelming perk). The overall power level of the recent killers has been quite good. We FINALLY got another outdoor map. DS finally got nerfed. Infinite windows are basically gone.

My only real balance complaint is that Boon perks are way too good on The Game and Midwitch because of how hard it is to move between floors... and the Police Station just being trash in general.

I wouldn't call Artist a good killer. She's average. Also, condolences to Twins mains as well. I've been doing decent with Myers. Trapper is hit or miss. Mostly miss on the new map.

I am not particularly triggered by any of it, but I was thinking which of the big three typically complained about behaviors (in game) are the most childish, and what opinions were. So which one seems the dumbest to you:

    1. Teabagging
    2. Flashlight clicking
    3. Smacking a hooked survivor

I would actually vote for smacking a survivor while on hook is the most childish. Unlike the other two, which are definitely childish as well but may tilt/bait/lure the killer, smacking a hooked survivor has no potential benefit. You going nothing from it, just makes you look like baby.

As a survivor, it's pretty validating, it usually means you got all the way under their skin, and now they are wasting their time.

I agree. The whole hitting a hooked survivor is noobish to me. All that does is rub it in and it's bad sportsmanship.
