I don't get the nerf either. it was a good perk that encouraged good play instead of tunneling and camping aka go for every survivor not target one. But o well guess people will go back to pain res.
-
@CyberRoninX looking at old records it comes from a Q&A back in Oct 2021. The original q&a I can't find but there are many people who go over it and complain about it. Otz being one of them.
https://youtu.be/0fsHR0siSY8I have seen no metion of them changing this. For steam users most stat websites like https://dbd-stats.net/ show how many hatch escapes so they are clearly counted differently. so no hatch doesn't count

Lame hackers are lame. Not much more to say.

I seriously doubt queue times would be anywhere near that long at the time, and server, I play. There's barely a 5 second wait as it is to find a lobby right now as survivor. It isn't going to jump to 45 minutes to find 3 others who aren't brand new to the game.
few things:
1. How long did they wait for?
2. Two or three man swf are very common and are more common the 4 man swf. this is where you can see differnt levels as well.
some regions or if you play at ungodly hours you can low survivor ques and higher killer ques but then the issue would filp.
AKA a baby to pro killer going up vs random people.

@TheGrimQueefer said:
I'll happily wait for appropriately skilled survivors to be matched with.
Solo queue is hell & matchmaking is making it unbearable.
they tried that before and in extreme cases the que times were over 45mins. As things stand with people saying so many survivors are leaving with the upcoming patch it might funnily enough get better for solo que players due to less bad matchmaking. If survivor player do quit plaing that is.
-
@TheGrimQueefer said:
For the love of god. Fix it.
You're putting baby survivors up against very skilled & experienced killers. Why do we have to babysit them?
been said many times before. Due to que times if they wait to long they will just be thrown into a match. During peak hours its not unheard of to have 70 to 90 survivors for each killer player..
-
from what it seems maybe 10 to 20% will leave. Killers won't really notice as during peak time for every killer player their is 80 to 90 survivors so even if half leave it won't be a real issue.
-
great advice from both @Remediast and @geni
I find a lot of new trickster players struggle when to pull out their blades and when not to pull out their blades as the slow down can really mess you up. As for tactics, for me, it is really map-dependent. For example, if I am playing on "The game" I often let the bottom gens go and work on defending the top gen more as the downstairs area for the most part is really painful for trickster whereas if I am playing in backwater swamp I can be more aggressive and try to get them out of the buildings as they are perfect for the blades.

Should have made BT and DS basekit (with the latter removing the skill check and making it activate twice, still deactivating in endgame, conspicuous actions and when fully healed) so that tunneling someone out is far more of a time waster than a gain. But I guess the devs still want easy mode for killers since it's supposed to be the power role and maps, perks and items are busted.
I think he is talking about camping, not tunneling.
To me, the issue with camping is sometimes it is called for other times it is abused. Bubba camping basement with 5 gens up? Fairly un sportsmen like you can easily call that trolling and should be punished. on the other hand, if you are in a close match, gates open, one dead, one on hook and two are alive. Then you should camp the hook. You would be silly not to and would be throwing the game. there are of cause many many scenarios in between tolling/abuse and fair/acceptable camping. Trying to come up with a system that won't completely break the game one way or another is harder than it looks.

"Pop's nerf is so slight that it barely matter"
Ah yes a nerf which severance is directly proportional to the progress done on a gen is so slight it doesn't matter?
Old pop gives you 20sec no matter what (except the gens done less than 20%).
New pop gives you, on a 99% gen:
Progress: 90sec*0,99 = 89,1sec
Regress: 89,1sec*0,2 = 17,1sec
Plus built-in "pop"
90*0,025 = 2,25 sec
At BEST it gives you 19,35sec worth of regress.
Now let's see the "worst" case, a gen with for example 10% progress.
Old: Flat 8sec.
New:
Progress: 90sec*0,1 = 9sec
Regress:. 9sec*0,2 = 1,8sec
Plus kick: 4,05sec.
50% value and even that only thanks to the flat kick bonus.
On any gen between 20 and 80% (5,85sec-16,65sec regress) pop got nerfed by up to 72% depending on the stat of the gen.
And sorry but if i have to walk twice or thrice the time it takes of the gen to even find the damn thing then i would say the perk is rightfully dead.
(Someone may gladly correct me if my calculations or the logic of them have some error in them.)
your math is good. petty much matches mine.
I guess from my point of view there are times when I hook a survivor near a gen kick and move on. Sure It's not as good as before but Pop did have a 35% pick rate for a reason. It was too strong, I don't think the perk will be useless, or it's doomsday for this perk (look at ruin for a dead perk). But that's just my option I believe if any perk is seeing at a 40% play rate, survivor or killer it should be looked at for a nerf or rework.
-
As others have said, the risk for mind gaming rather then brute forcing is high. Due to this as killer, you should only mind game rarely so you catch people off guard.

Are u saying pop got buffed lol?
No the claim from OP was "Pop goes the Wessel has been nerfed so badly its no longer pays off for the killer to leave the hook, you probably waste more time going to that gen than you gain on the actual regression"
-
for those wondering what the difference would be. As the Devs said themselves "This change will make Pop Goes the Weasel very effective against generators that are nearly done, but weaker against those with a small amount of progress."
-
An interesting view. but some things to note which you may have missed:
1.pop nerf combine with the base mini pop you have now is not that much of an extreme difference.
2. pain res was OP and very much an over picked perk. You could aurge it was over done but to say it was fine was a bit much.
3. over change was way too strong I think it was over tune and should be 300% but thats me.
4. dms and corrput will rarely if ever get played. corrput got nerfed to the ground and is really only good on a few killers and dms was really only played with pain res...

I think the data is bad. Hackers are very prevalent.
Because 4 man SWF are the only ones at higher MMR is skewing the data as well. The devs have a lot of bad data and throwing darts at survivors.
expect they don't. old graphs released show solo que survival rates vs SWF they don't just look at high mmr. As demon baby had metion, the kill rate was at a lower level then the devs wanted (what level they wanted they have not said or I can't find any info for).
Que times wise as they have started before seems to be really region specific in my area even if I play at ungodly hours or new killer release it has never gone above a min wait time for killer. So for my area even after the patch I doubt it will make a difference.
-
one other small note in my play region (Aus) I only really see Blight and Huntess players. Rarely do I see anyone else, and I would love to vs other killers on a more regular bases.
-
man, so many angry people in here.
I would do a slight nerf to her range add on so you don't get a speed boast from it. Also make her blink attack count as a special attack but thats it.
one carzy thought for the high mmr players. If the kill rate for killers is low at all levels at the moment and you are often only seeing the same two killers, blight and nurse. Do you think small nerfs will to either of them will change the meta and you will start seeing more M1 killers? Nurse does need small nerfs but it need to happen with buffing other killers or I hope you have fun waiting 20+ mins for a match.
-
2 points of views
1. From a killer side it heavily depends on the killer, as decent aiming and flicking skills are needed on quite a few killers
2. From Survivor side camera control becomes the main downside vs MnK not inculding people running stretched screens "fliter" changes
-
I don't mind vsing any killer. From what I have seen when I play killer Pinhead cause more DC then any of my other killers and it can completely F the other often solo que players.(SWF really dc at the start of a match).
personally I rather if people could block certian maps (Survivor and killer) not certian killers.

Nah, I play stealth Killers and the way to make them work is to approach gens (or wathever you want to approach) from behind LoS blockers like high walls or rocks, Spine Chill wont activate in those scenarios.
If you approach from a point where you can see the Survivor and he can see you back (when Spine Chill will activate) odds are he is going to see you and run away, Spine or no Spine, the only use you have for open areas while approaching Survivors is to test how bad they are, if you manage to get super close without them leaving the gen it means they are awful.
I play a lot of killer aswell and most survivors don't notice my wriath or ghost face until I look at them (how I use to check for spine chill).
I would say its going to become super map dependent aswell which will kill it. so maps like the game it will become usless
-
it will be more niche and less all round good. It will still be great vs stealth killers.
-
it has been said many many times before, your MMR is not link to rank.
To make matters worse their is also no mmr decry so you could be gone for a year come back and your MMR will remain the same.
-
Guess a couple of things from a killer side.
in most maps, it is really unlikely you had enough hooks to reach everyone. You also said "nobody had ds active" but how would the killer know that unless he ate one or two beforehand and then guessed that you were all running it. Thus he went for the 100% win sweaty win at all cost.
To me, this is very boring and often and I rather eat a DS unless it's right at the gate or the gate has been opened then I will wait for the gate timer.

This can be fixed with just one option in the game settings. Something like a long queue, but with accurate matchmaking, or fast, but less accurate. Everyone will be happy. I can wait a long time, others can't. Everyone would have made their checkbox.
while this is a good idea I don't think it will fix the long queues or slove the issue. This is a I can't play with my friends core issue peak time to I can't find four other players to vs off peak time.

That's why I say. I'm ready to wait 10 minutes, but the match is interesting, not dead in every match, with a chance to get into the gate.
so you can find the info here:https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/319692 But when they did bidirectional matchmaking (aka more of what you are after) queue times in their words was " Longer queue times were an understatement; some players were experiencing exceptionally long queue times (15 minutes+)." I don't think they have ever turned it on again.
-
@zumer said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2991783#Comment_2991783
I always find matches almost instantly. The queue is always less than a minute.
That is really odd then unless you play insanely off-peak or something. If someone is qued for an ungodly amount of time they will get matched regardless of MMR but it is often the other way around with killers having an instant queue and Survivors waiting for ages to find a match.
-
Sorry to hear that but can I ask how long were you qued for?
-
@M4dBoOmr said:
wait, was the different mmr for each killer removed again?
No, But as Comsmic Paragon was saying if people que too long they get a match regardless of MMR.
-
Sadly as others have said this is a population issue that is affecting MMR. I find if you avoid prime time the MMR works quite well even with new killers. Surprising no one, people want to play with their friends during weekends and you can't play killer with friends unless you make your own lobby with 5 people.
To make matter worse looks like this will be an issue going forward, the 6TH-anniversary steam said players will receive a blood point bonus for queueing as a certain role(aka killer most of the time). This doesn't really solve any issue at all-cause most players are not really having any issue with blood points.
-
lots of killers are back and offten it is newbie killer who run it for muilple reason but the main ones are.
1. They may not have other perks unlocked.
2. when running with the new killer they may have rushed to level it but got bad perks in the bloodweb
3.Sadly due to bad mmr baby killers have been going up vs full SWF and getting crushed so NOED becomes a clutch to maybe get one kill.
hell I only got like 300-400 hours and got match up vs one 7.5k two 3k and one 1.5k swf team and got uttly destroyed.
I think NOED will be used a lot for the next two weeks then either:
1. the killer gets better perks to replace what he has.
2. the killer stops playing killer and joins survivor or quits entirely.

Oh, that one I got once, too! I downed a pesky survivor, and then standing before the hook the prompt to hook wouldnt proceed. I could cancel it if I wanted, but not hook that person. So I did the right thing and just stood there for about a minute motionless, with the other survivors puzzled why I didn't hook their mate, and why they didn't wriggle off. Everyone could see what was going on. Eventually I guess they got bored and let me hook them.
Another time I had a downed player teleporting over the ground to different placed, until they finally settled somewhere and I had problems picking them up.
With TPing, I can understand it was maybe lag. Often use escape key and see their ping and it is sometimes 900+ for that person and give them the benefit of the doubt, but you can't lag through an exit gate......

I had a game vs the Huntress, were I was on a gen with another survivor, and every time we were nearly finished, suddenly the completion bar jumped back like 10%. It happened about 4 times, before we finally could finish the gen. This Huntress also sported the Hex: Lulaby, but there were no skill checks involved on my part, and no explosions, screams or any indication that the Feng on the gen had failed some herself, nor any Scourge Hooks. After the game the Huntress player was a rather yolly and nice chap, so I felt a bit bad, but I send a report. I know, on its own and without video evidence it wont do anything, so I don't actually feel bad, but maaaaybe if like 20 people report this person because of anomalies something is done? But I have no frigging clue how BHVRs internal review system works.
Ouch, The two bad ones I just had in the 20 were if I down someone I could not pick them up and was stuck for about a min doing nothing. The other insanely blatant one was a TPer who got through the exit gates while the doors were shut.

Good news guys by now I've finally reached the 40 wins without killing anyone in this game even though I used sweaty builds and tried my hardest. Before my break I was Iri 1 btw but apparently now I'm just a dumb noob that doesnt get the game anymore. Thanks DBD it was fun for the 2 weeks that u lasted on my hard drive. See u in 2023
Besides what others have said. I play almost every killer except trapper and Freddy. I find if I go a killer that I am not that good with I often get newer survivors compared to my mains who I now often get high-rank players (some fall through the cracks and a new but much rarer compared to my main killers). Maybe have a few games with a different killer or as others would say play as survivors instead, yes the que times suck but it's a good lesson.

Killers tend to hack more than survivors.
As I said I mainly play killer (only play survivor with friends.) So no idea how common it is for killers to do it.
@Flawless_ said:
So I play this game a lot. In fact I've played it almost exclusively for a couple of years now. I would say 90% of all the hackers I've encountered have been within the last 4 months or so. It almost feels like knowing nothing meaningful has been done about it so far emboldens people to try cheating, cause they know they're not gonna get caught, and if they do they just get an alt account and keep going. It's pretty pathetic being so bad at the game that you have to give yourself advantages like that.
Well, that's disheartening news.

No, only if you're close to two servers. This will likely only effect people in North America and Europe where they're close enough to two servers that they can extend their search parameters without mucking things up. At least that's what I took away from their announcement on the situation.
Ping wise Aus to US west is around 150 to 200. US east to Europe is 100 to 120 so that would make sense
-
@gilgamer said:
Ironically I think they just made it so you would consistently get worse ping with the whole multiple region queuing thing.
Wait, is that a thing? So even though I am an Aussie player I might end up vsing people playing from USA? (that would roughly be their pings)
-
As an example. When I am in the lobby around 24 ping.
-
I have had this happen to me quite a few times. Check your opponents ping , I find they often have high ping or jumpy internet (seem some people go from 35 to 450 up and down constantly). Sadly there is no way to check pre trial what their ping is.

Seems to be based on MMR then. It's a known fact that SWF groups tend to have higher MMR ratings than solo seeing as how the game is easier in a group. Alot easier.
Wouldn't I still have a low or high MMR? Or are you saying their is a separate MMR for SWF? For example their is team MMR and player mmr in most moba games.

Then someone is lying or it's a location thing. The ques are either long or they aren't. They're long for me. Especially, after 5 pm Central time.
One other odd factor seems to be if you are a in a solo que or group.
When I solo que it is a 15 to 20 mins wait time. When I am in a group of 2 or 3 people 3 to 5 mins. I am unsure why, as this is at the same time.
-
In my area(Aus),
I find in my area it's 15 to 20 mins to solo que if I am in a 3 or 2 man 5 min queue. Killer is petty much instant queues (5 to 15 secs) at all times of the day. I would say in my country there is a lack of killers based on the queue times at least.
-
honestly depends on a lot of factors.
Doing that on the first hook is 95% chance of being bad though and you will lose badly odds are 0K or 1K. The only time I have ever done that is when I was playing Oni vs a team who pick RPD running four flashlights. They kept trying to bait near the library and just being toxic so I wanted the game over ASAP. Funnily enough, got 4K only due to them being silly.
