If you wanted to cater to low-skill survivors, you'd have to remove the killer completely. And they'd still find reasons to ragequit.

Nah, just go back a year or so ago when the game was actually playable for solo q and casual survivors. There were hardly any killers lol. People will only play killer if they have a huge advantage and any time 3 gens are done without a down it's a pretty certain DC for the killer. Sad that the steamroll only happens on the killer side in solo q and casual most of the time but I guess that's how it has to be to get people to play killer.

  • @Crowman said:

Nah, survivors will continue to find new excuses why they need to rage quit. We shouldn't be catering to people looking to not play the game.

Well maybe if the game was catered around low skill survivors instead of low skill killers that might be true.

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

isn’t the general consensus still that noob mmr is killer sided and high mmr is survivor sided

The problem is a lot of killers that should never be at high MMR are because of how killer sided "noob" MMR is. There is no inbetween, you play sweaty with little skill you're going to hit high MMR and come here and complain how the game is now survivor sided. Actually good killers don't have a problem at high MMR.

  • It's been about 6 months, although it should have been over 2 years with how ######### the game has gotten. Game is dead for me.

  • @MagicDragon said:

…do you think games against strong survivor players should be easy?

    Yes most killers think this.

  • @KerJuice said:

Survivors in general are not the problem- it’s 3 or4 man SWF’s who make balancing this game miserable for Killers and solo que survivors.

It's for sure solo survivors. A good killer can deal with SWFs, sorry if that isn't you.

  • @Yippiekiyah said:

Extremely survivor sided at high mmr and nothing is gonna change my mind.

    lol

  • Well killers are overly rewarded for playing mediocre most of the time. All you have to do is tunnel and run gen defense and you just skip over low MMR. So it's a combination of solo q survivors ecstatic over how bad you are and I'm sure SWFs who, like killers, love rubbing in their amazing skills of playing efficiently and destroying casual players.

  • @Ryuhi said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3686356#Comment_3686356

Or... maybe they don't tunnel you? you get away and they lose you and are forced to go after someone else? Maybe you loop the killer long enough for the gens to get done since they're not spreading any pressure to the other survivors?

Defeatism creates self fulfilling prophecies. If you know you're going to get tunneled a lot, use it as practice to get better at wasting the killer's time. You could be the difference between a 4K and a 3E, and wouldn't you rather see the killer get punished for tunneling rather than rewarded?

Or...maybe you're talking about a game that makes sense...Sounds like you're talking about playing with players that have a common goal and/or players that are playing the objective. If I ran the killer for the entire match, which has happened, but don't escape I lost. The killer gets some sense of accomplishment were they should have none and I get nothing. It makes no difference to me if 3 randoms escape or the killer gets a 4k. You can't punish a killer for tunneling most of the time, unless skill levels have a massive gap it will be effective. I would like to have your positive attitude however after 4k hours I can say there is no point to solo q. I don't expect anything from my team mates nor do I care. Complaining about solo q is just complaining about horrible game balance and matchmaking, which is on the devs. Anything a solo q player does, not work the objective, kill themself, etc is the devs fault. They could punish players for killing themself but they don't, they could punish players for not working the objective but they don't.

  • Nah, if you're first hooked in solo q the game teaches you you'll be tunneled out, and it doesn't matter how much you waste the killers time, you won't be rewarded for it unless you can run the killer most the game and escape, which happens but is unlikely. Solo q matches don't matter by design, why care what happens in them.

  • From a solo survivors perspective I feel like I could run no perks and my win rate would not significantly change. This game is Mario Party for solo players, nothing really matters most of the time. Great game design.

  • @BlueMoonBRUHMOMENT said:

If you bring an offer that makes basement, go into shack. You use shack pallet, then run into the basement to get your first hook in basement, I'm just not going to hook you. It's an incredibly weird play style (on both sides admittedly).

If I'm running agitation ofc I'll hook you outside of basement, but don't expect the otherside to let you use your perks effectively. Just like how I'll try to play around hubris, flashlights, FTP, etc...

That's why they need to add basekit unbreakable. The devs give players too much freedom to punish other players.

  • @C3Tooth said:

I know stream snipping is breaking the rule.

But a comp team, stacking full meta and strongest item/addon, PLUS stream snipping to make the match tie (at 2K) against comp Blight. Shows there is something wrong with balance.

A lot of players will argue that for some reason killers who win hundreds or thousands of matches in a row should not be talked about as far as balancing. For some reason the "best" killers incredible win streaks doesn't mean that the game is so ridiculously killer sided. Balance only matters if the game is balanced around your particular skill level, which in most cases is average at best. Most killers want the game so ridiculously easy that any game were they try to win they will. Momo actually was salty about losing (getting a draw) against a crack team that used certain perks. Lol, can you believe that someone that plays like that complain about anything? Momo is the embodiment of the DBD player base, and that's so incredibly pathetic.

  • Yeah killers with counterplay not that great....

  • @The_Krapper said:

You've absolutely destroyed solo q with this update, it was playable before but now half these "geniuses" think it's smart to sit in the basement half the trial to activate a perk....the fact you would allow that perk to go through just shows what your intentions are with the game in general

    Lol, it wasn't playable before.

    Hello there,

In the past weeks or even months, many here claimed, that DC's are out of hand right now, even talking it is worse then it was back at the old Legion time.

Usually, many complains on this forum may be at least (in my opinion ofc) in some way valid. We may or may not always agree, but often times, it is a feeling of individual persons. How every individual perceives the game is of course highly subjective - but thats the nature of so many things.

There is one exception tho, and this is when feelings meets facts. So i started to investigate the fact or not that DC's are a major problem right now.

So since Thursday, i played every single killer (even SM and Knight) at least one game. The games i did not 4K (Freddy, Trapper and Dredge) i replayed. I ran the best possible perks and one if not the best addons, and most games went really bad for survivors.

    My conclusion from this:

Hook suicides: 0 (besides a handful of "try to find the hatch buddy" attempts")

    DC: 0

I am aware that roughly 40 games is not a large number, but it matches exactly on how i feel about DC's. I play on EU server, MMR is probably all over the place since i dont play much Alien, Knight or SM so MMR is not that high, but i do have a few killers with longer winstreaks against good survivors.

What is your factcheck? Is it just me being lucky or is it really only a feeling and not a fact that DC's are not that commen as many here claim? Or is the actually the Killer who is giving up in your games so often?

    Kind regards

I'm sure it varies by your role. I think if you're solo q survivor the DC/suicide on first hook problem is for sure common. As a killer you could be playing against a lot of SWFs and DCing/suicide on hook would be far less common.

  • It blows as solo q, you have no incentive to play well. You can play the best match of your life and still get destroyed if you get a bad team. Solo q doesn't need to be as strong as SWF but they need to reward people for playing well with better team mates. Old ranking system please, the game was way more fun and I believe more popular before the laughable MMR system they put in place.

  • @LeGranEmi said:

BHVR I don't listen to the comments about the trickster, it's horrible launch speed without memento blades please rework memento blades but put it as a base I don't want to have to always use an addons so it feels good to use the killer also they didn't hear about their addons which are garbage punctually soda, autograph and compilation of agony (iridescent) the first 2 are literally useless and the other is rubbish having a purple one that does the same thing but better

You don't need addons if you tunnel like you do, stop complaining. My god this entire game is balanced so killers like you can actually win matches lol.

  • @Dreamnomad said:

I think they did a good job with the Billy rework. He feels good. I also think there are a number of killers out there that could use similar treatment. With that said, I don't think the goal should even be to make it so all killers are "equal". For one thing, it is an impossible goal. For another, there is a large difference on certain characters between their skill ceiling and floor. Nurse is a perfect example of this. If you were going by overall kill rate, she would be considered underpowered. But anyone who knows this game, knows that at her skill ceiling she overperforms. How do you balance that?

I'm sure having an insta-down M2 with almost no penalty for missing feels great. How to fix Nurse? Complete rework.

  • Yeah I don't think they proved it.

  • As a console gamer it does feel bad knowing the countless "GGs" I have missed out on.

Skull merchant players don't ruin the game, the survivors ruin the game for themselves by refusing to learn how to play against her, giving up, and riding the old SM hate bandwagon. Nobody to blame but themselves.

Though I do enjoy the easy bloodpoints.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah sure, however you want to look at it. I just enjoy brain dead gameplay and, as you said, easy BP.

As a pallet cleanser, I offer you my humble Pyramid Head stacks. I am just 35, because I feel obliged to get every character I own to P6, so I don't just pump every single blood point into him, but its slow, honest work and I enjoy it.

As a true Pyramid Head main I am never changing my add-ons and use just two, so the rest is collecting dust.

I love everything about her, from her lore, design, to her gameplay. So I'm probably never dropping her.

Really good reasons, I just like her because I know it ruins the game for so many people and because I barely have to think when playing her.

  • Maybe play another killer, I think everyone would appreciate that.

  • In the past I just purchased cosmetics as I was all for supporting the developer and paying cash for DLCs. However the last few years I feel the devs have made some awful changes and made the game a pretty horrible experience for me personally. I hope I just stop playing all together but if I did spend shards it would be for original chapters and licensed perks.

  • By that logic my real escape rate is also 70 to 80 percent, I like the way you think bro.

This is called moving the goal posts. Killers can DC too.

It's far less common, but include that also. If they're not including DC/bot matches they're not representing what players actually experience.

  • I don't think they'll ever do it, at least not for every killer. I would think it would be too much work to code A.I. for every killer, it takes them forever just to do a rework.

  • @Pulsar said:

    Who could've seen this coming.....

ALSO, LMAO, 39% ER is still accurate.

SWF only matters at high MMR, even Solo in high MMR is bad and the ER for 4-mans is still sub-50. The horrible awful so OP high mmr swf's aren't even escaping HALF the time

Also shows that SWF really doesn't matter unless it's all four.

Well time to delete Nurse and Blight since they are no longer needed, oh wait I meant Skull Merchant and Onryo, too op.

  • @saym said:

So wouldn't it be better to separate the queues?

    Solo only → Ranked mode

Solo & SWF → Casual mode

Wait, you're saying survivors should be solo in ranked?

  • Find the weak link, proxy, tunnel, just like the devs intended. I let the last 2 bleed out usually so they can have extra time to reflect on my skill.

  • The mode sounded bad from the get go but it is so much worse than I thought. One match is enough, never touching it again.

  • It's kinda funny you'd base your opinion on solo q feeling fine on one day of playing. I too have had rare occurrences of good days were I'm actually matched with survivors with basic game sense and escape more than not. However this is just a glitch in the matrix of ######### MMR and matchmaking.

  • Damn dude I can think of a couple killers that need to be deleted first.

  • @I_Cant_Loop said:

I play about 50/50 survivor/killer and killer seems much easier after the last update and solo queue seems much more miserable, definitely the worst it's been since the status indicators were introduced to the game (it was certainly worse before that when you had no idea what teammates were doing). Seems like just about every one of my survivors matches is against Billy or another top-tier killer bringing the newest meta build and maybe 1-2 gens get done before one or more teammates give up.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Yeah that's pretty much it, must be intended. I guess the devs want solo q players to play killer, SWF, or quit.

  • Did they nerf anything other than her condemned playstyle? I don't feel like reading patch notes...

Ohtofu legit plays against people who would surprise me if they had more than 100 h in the game, they are clueless. As for skermz I do not know them, so I cannot give an opinion.

Yeah I don't know what that is. I mean he wins most of the time so I would assume his MMR is high. Maybe it's a combination of him playing so late and the fact that players with that much experience can make ok survivors look like potatoes.

  • @Deathstroke said:

Players with bad internet should not get advantage because of it. Very least lobby should show who has bad internet because no-one should have to play agains't player with unfair advantage if they don't want. But best would be if game would kick player out with too bad connection. Many players even use bad internet to get competive advantage.

It shouldn't and you should be able to play a match if you have a bad connection. But hey it's DBD and BHVR you should'nt expect anything less.

  • @Reinami said:

I'm looking for some matches where killers play against GOOD survivor teams, like really good top tier high MMR teams. Comp matches are fine, but the match specifically can't have any restrictions or rules like: "no same perks" on the survivor, or use any special scoring systems that tournaments often do.

In these matches i am looking for games where the killer specifically does not tunnel/camp/proxy camp in a way that seems unfair, and for matches where the killer wins. I would also like matches where the killer is not running 4 slowdown perks, 2 max.

Matches where the killer is not playing nurse or blight (or tomestone myers) is preferred as well.

Hoping to get these matches because i am genuinely convinced that it is not possible for killers to win consistently without camping/tunneling etc against top tier teams that are really good. I have been attempting to do an experiment where i "play nice" today, and after 10 matches i haven't won a single one.

So, while this is my belief that this is true, i WANT to be proven wrong. I want to see some matches to see if maybe i'm doing something wrong, and can improve on my personal play.

I have looked around and the only thing i can ever find are comp matches where they have special rules in place, or are doing some kind of challenge. Or content creators.

Just watch Ohtofu or Skermz plays killer a lot at the start of his stream.

  • @Pulsar said:

I don't really want to lose a hundred games in a row to learn Billy.

I haven't gone back to learn any of the old Killers I didn't play because of MMR and the lack of a decent learning environment.

It really sucks because Billy seems fun but I literally can't learn ######### in 5 minute matches.

Just seems like BHVR's matchmaker encourages you to never diversify your character roster.

I really don't think you'll lose hundreds of games. At first you will lose a lot but eventually you'll be getting new(er) players.

Because contrary to how people pretend it is online, the game is not only Nurse against SWF.

If we're looking at how balanced the game is, it's disingenuous to judge the killer role by 1 of 34 possible killers. Even with 2 or 3 being very strong, there's a wide cast, most of which see significant amounts of players, that are far more balanced.

Yeah we're talking about overall balance. MMR is garbage, solo q exists, far more survivors don't work the objective compared to killers, there are other strong killers other than Nurse and Blight. Playing a weak killer and saying the game is survivor sided is like running no mither in solo q and saying the game is killer sided.

  • @anarchy753 said:

DBD is survivor sided. There are some very strong, oppressive killers, but the majority of the cast is manageable.

People who just blindly quote "muh kill rates" severely miss the subtlety of the statistics.

    Think about it logically.

It is very likely that you go from a game with 0 kills to a game with 1 kill. You can suck all game, but you down one person endgame and you either camp them to death, or people keep trading until one dies. It takes little skill or effort to get a single kill.

Likewise, it is far easier to get the fourth kill than it is to get the 2nd or 3rd kill. The survivors are still competitive with several alive, they can still outplay you to buy time. When you down survivor 3, any killer can choose to slug them and track down survivor 4. Worst case, they don't find them and hatch is a 50/50 at best for the survivor. Again, the killer didn't play any better or worse, but because of being asymmetrical, a fourth kill is much easier.

We have 2 factors at both the low and high end that push kill numbers up, whether the game was a survivor stomp or a killer stomp. There is no real overarching factor that makes kills less likely in the same way.

Therefore, in a balanced game, we should still expect that kills are higher than 50%.

How is it survivor sided when kill rates are higher and when you take the strongest killer vs the strongest swf and the killer wins? You can play make believe all you want, it's not an opinion that killer is stronger it's a fact.

Additionally, BHVR has said in the past that splitting the matching mode could split people up and slow down matching, and that they have no plans to split the matching mode into two: casual mode and ranked mode. However, now that the number of active users of DBD is decreasing, why do we divide the mode into two? If this is possible, it would be better to create an unranked mode and a ranked mode for a limited time, and give titles to the top players in the ranked mode, which would increase motivation.

They did it because it was the easiest to implement, or because it was the most popular choice on the surveys (doubtful.) It was a mode I was not interested in at all of course.
