Was going to post this earlier since you did the math for me once before, but wondered if you'd expect a solo player to have a better escape rate when paired with a duo or trio as opposed to an entire team of solos? I'd assume in the latter case a solo player would expect a lower escape rate? Or would it not really have an impact?

I would expect if skill levels are close (lol MMR) that the more solo's you have in a match would for sure decrease the overall escape rate.

People hate her because they don't understand her counterplay + they hate her because of her past.

You can avoid her drones in many ways and even in chase too, just stand for a second or crouch for like second when the beam is going for you and watch her drones rotation, because in some cases, you can have enough window to avoid the beam before getting hit from SM. Yes, you can't loop her well but that is how the power is designed and how many many killer powers work. Try looping Nemesis, Artist, Xeno, Slinger on some loops, Pyramid Head, etc...

Survivors play againts her mindlessly as well. When I play her, nobody tries to do anything and even when attemping to disable drones it is usualy not needed for them to disable it or they get scaned / injured in process or get injured for free with info on them just running around.

I think she is overhated. She is not the most fun to verse killer lets say or most skillfull, but she rly isn't that much different or horrible than your avarage M2 anti-loop killer. People just overreact and hate her from past and lack of effort from survivor side too.

This is all true however another reason for the hate, IMO, is that a lot of people play her because they know she is hated and also because of her crazy win rate which is partially due to people not knowing her counterplay but also the crazy high DC/quit rate against her. I have a very low opinion of Skull Merchant and anyone who plays her regularly.

He is playing Blight, who is obviously broken killer. Most of the killers are much weaker than Blight. And that win streak is made in pub while he is very good blight player and we all know DBD's mmr is screwed up. If survivors are not strong in high levels, why there are many limitations in tournaments for survivors while killers have almost none?

Blight, Nurse, any other high tier killer it doesn't matter. Hardly any survivors play like they are in a tournament, they will always take a 3 man out vs risking a save. 3 man out is a win in tournament. The majority of killers play like comp, regardless of skill level.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

I have better question: Can we just remove Skull Merchant?

Sorry, i just hate her so much.

That would be fantastic, unfortunately the devs won't admit that they were incompetent with her initial form or her rework. Changing her again so soon would just reaffirm the fact that the devs don't know what the hell they're doing, which most the player base already knows anyway lol.

I played 2 games of Survivor yesterday and both of them were killers who slugged me and the last guy for no reason. Crawled under a hook just to show her I couldnt wiggle and still, just let me bleedout

Also had a couple of them a week ago, but I aint gonna complain about 2 games in like 30/40+ games

Fair enough, I just had 3 out of 5 games of killers running knockout and slugging, 2 onryo and 1 singularity, all different players. Just wondering if anyone else is having more games like this.

  • @Haddix said:

    what are they playing?

if it's singularity, then that's based af

I would say playing anything super strong against solo q and not super effective vs swf pathetic af. But everyone is entitled to their opinions.

  • Just an MMR system that rewards individual skill. Not much to ask, I say make killers as strong as you want, just reward individual (solo q) survivors for playing well with MMR. I don't see the problem with this, it's a very small ask, please BHVR just do it.

  • I really doubt a rework as BHVR has made it clear how lazy/incompetent they are. The only hope is massive nerfs hopefully to the point were most people find her unplayable.

I did and do. They were p100, and they downed everyone else almost instantly. Not new. They were really solid. Why did you quote the word kiting? That's what I did.

You weren't there and don't know lol. I'm not saying I'm anything special but if you play nurse I find it's not that difficult to counter. Just play the killer, know them inside and out and you can counter them.

Despite me vomiting when playing killer, I did play her a lot and know how to dodge her. I've another friend who can do the same, he's great. It's not impossible.

I still feel nurse should be changed, but for now that's the best way to counter her imo. Play it, know it, dodge. Break LoS. Juke, be unpredictable.

Edit: Someone said balance around 1%? I would not suggest that as a business owner. Balance around your largest player base as they are the one's who spend the most money combined.

You wanna balance around 1%? Then make content just for them. It's done in FFXIV, I do it and it's called Ultimates. It's extremely hard and made for hardcore 1% people who have the patience for that. If FFXIV was balanced around us, everyone else would quit.

The rest of the game is made for casuals and makes tons of money. You don't want to isolate and get the majority of your player base ticked off, burnt out and frustrated.

If 1% of them are, meh. Like I said, give them their own mode to play.

My BF and I have a big chocolate business. I'm not about to make a chocolate flavor that 1% of people will buy. I'm making what sells out in seconds and keeps us making a lot of money.

One instance of kiting one Nurse is not doing it consistently. I have never seen anyone run a good Nurse consistently after nearly 4k hours and watching far better players than me play. You must truly be a god at the game, good for you.

  • @ShinobuSK said:

Many times your teammates see a situation unwrapped before their eyes that they have seen 1000 times before and they are sure how the outcome of the match will play out so they move next.

Even if many times this prediction is true, there still should be some incentive for people to stay and play it out anyway. But alas theres nothing really

Well there used to be a ranking system that actually rewarded you for playing...Seriously out of every misstep, I feel like removing that incentive is the biggest thing that killed solo q.

  • @jamally093 said:

So I played a match against a Deathslinger he only went after me probably because SoloQ and my team just leaves me to slowly die on hook coming to rescue me here and there here's the kicker. No one bothered to heal me or even take a protection hit. Yet if I don't then they get mad at me because I wasn't helping or I'm a baby 0 IQ survivor even though as a SoloQ player I have to bring perks that only help me survive since my team always leaves me to die.

If your wondering what those perks are it's Self-care because I barely get healed by anyone even though I'm near them injured, Left Behind because usually I'm Left behind and/or I just want to have an escape in case MMR is coming at me with a spiked bat, Calm Spirit i mainly have it incase Doc,Clown and perks that cause you to scream and Despite measures while yes it gives a boost to healing and unhooking on others i just like having my perks being from different survivors.

So I'm guessing you're not that experienced with the game, not because I think you're bad but because you would already know the answer to this question. When you look at your matches and see DCs at the beginning of the match, people killing themself on first hook, no one working on generators, teammates going down in 5 seconds, and teammates leaving you to die at the beginning of the match I think you have your answer. Solo q is almost completely random and usually not in your favor.

Old mori's? You want to be able to get mori'ed after one hook? That was fun times being tunneled off first hook for the mori. OG Billy is the only thing you mentioned there that is worth having back and honestly its moot as we just got Billy back in great form.

Nobody embraced those broken things. People asked for years for them to be changed.

My point was the game was more random, and IMO more fun years ago even with all that broken #########. So yeah I'd like to enjoy the game again. I'd take old mori's over ever having to play against another Skull Merchant again, but that's just me I guess.

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

Do you want old DS, old insta heals and med kits, old BNPs, old dead hard, the old perk grinding system etc back again?

A lot of survivor specific things in that list. How about old mori's, OG Billy, OG Nurse, old ruin to name a few. My answer would be absolutely as the game used to fun years ago and dare I say less toxic. My guess is because the game had so many broken things people took it less seriously and actually embraced it.

  • @ratcoffee said:

Just add a forfeit option but only let people forfeit on either side if like 5 minutes have passed (Scott Jund came up with this idea)

The first thing I thought of was all the Nurse/Skull Mechant games were all the survivors hide for 5 minutes and forfeit. I think it would be worth it just to read the future posts complaining about it.

Same. Imagine if survivors could do that lol.

I can kite nurse all day and they usually rage quit on me, I still find their mechanics ridiculous.

Nurse is broken but your comment is ridiculous. You might be able to run bad/new Nurse player but you aren't "kiting" a Nurse that actually knows how to play on a regular basis.

No amount of game design can force bitter jerks to not be bitter jerks

Sure, but bad game design can lead to people who aren't usually "bitter jerks" to act like bitter jerks more often. Also bad design can attract toxic players as well, which in my opinion is apparent in this game.

  • @Cratter said:

You'll all be thrilled to hear that after about 36 games or so I finally got to a point where we had all 5 gens done and could escape!

Unfortunately, Prestige 57 Feng wasn't happy with the fact that I jumped in a locker when the killer came to the last gen, despite me being injured and hooked twice, so she blocked me in a corner until the killer found us and he killed me.

    What a marvellous community!!

Sorry you don't enjoy DBDs new player experience. This game has been expertly crafted and tweaked for almost 8 years so your experience must be intended by the developers, the only other option would be that they are incompetent which can't be true. My best advice would to continue to play solo q as that role really shines once you get some experience with the game.

  • Oh sorry, didn't catch that (been drinking.) However my second dualsense had bad stick drift out of the box. I would use a pc if available and at least check the analog sticks.

  • You have stick drift most likely. Time for a new controller.

  • @ShowNoMercy said:

No, I don't play killer before you yell "KILLER MAIN COMPLAINING ABOUT A WEAK PERK". I'm tired to see my teammates going from pallet to pallet and when the match goes on there is no pallet left for us to use. They keep wasting it for absolutely nothing and it only kills us at the end and what for? This perk is extremely unhealthy. I hate to say it but I think this perk has got to go. Survivors need to learn the game and not just drop every pallet they see on their screen.

Do gens? I mean they use everything and still go down fast? If the killer is in chase long enough for those pesky survivors to use everything on the map and the others can't finish 5 gens it sounds like a different kind of problem other than windows of opportunity.

  • @daffyd said:

If communications in DBD were balanced... why isn't it offered to solo survivors in game?

Does anyone know the answer to this?

I should point out the wording here...

'Offered' is to offer, e.g. the survivors need not accept

'in game' is in the game, not some forum/other form of communication method

They balance the game off being unbalanced if that makes any sense. Just how they do MMR, if you average out the extremes it seems kind of balanced but hardly ever is match to match. In short the devs suck.

  • @HugTechLover said:

I’m on the road to low mmr. The games are MUCH more fun down there, and solo skill expression carries a whole lot more weight. Much more enjoyable experience. (Speaking on the survivor side)

How so? In the rare occurrence that the killer will focus you the entire match so your inefficient team actually does generators (maybe.) 99% of the time if I can run the killer well they'll just leave me an insta-down the next survivor, like they can't even hold w.

  • @GeneralV said:

But people aren't doing anything wrong. You shouldn't be punished just because you wanna play with your friends.

Solo q players aren't doing anything wrong (they probably are lol.) Solo q players shouldn't be punished for playing solo. Although I don't agree with OPs post I do think they need to change MMR to reflect survivor performance during the match and not outcome. When I regularly have multiple games in a row with someone going down fast and killing themself on hook, not even accounting for players that just refuse to play the objective. The game really has no meaning anymore from my solo q perspective.

  • "As a solo survivor, use kindred, aftercare, boon healing or yoichi's perk to let other survivors see your aura. You can use bond to see others. You can use the key add-ons to see survivors. You can use maps to create a giant pillar that acts like the screaming sun from Rick and Marty. There are ways to play, adapt, overcome."

I literally lol'd at this. You could run 0 perks and you'd still probably have a similar escape rate over 100s of matches. Solo q is just gambling with matchmaking at this point. So few games are decided on how you play or what perks you have compared to actually getting a good team.

  • It's funny I get bleed out a lot when someone kills themself on hook lol. I mean my game was ruined and there is almost no chance of winning at that point and somehow the killer BMs more in those cases. It just shows the kind of losers BHVR has attracted to their game with their incompetent balancing and/or their lack of giving a ######### about solo players. Like if you ######### on hook immediately that should be a DC penalty, common sense really. I know coding simple ######### must be hard for the dev team.

Wasting perk slot ofcourse. It's aura perk after all, if you know maps by your own, you can use better perk instead of it.

It's only a waste for swfs that can call out what has been used.

  • @H2H said:

Let’s just keep nerfing her until she’s immobile, blind, and can’t attack. Maybe then survivors will be happy 🙂

Well it is funny how much she has been nerfed and still she's the strongest killer by far. I imagine the same people who have said she's "fine" all these years are still defending her game breaking mechanics.

  • @timetodohottakes said:

that's very true, but it makes Blight more broken when without it he's actually balanced.

Incoming that Blight would somehow be stronger without hug tech lol. This game is kind of a joke at this point.

  • @SweetbutaPsycho said:

I've seen so much stuff on here about how toxic survivors act and how hard it is to play killer etc.

Now the killer side gets a really strong killer with chucky and out of 10 matches against him so far I had:

    • 9 4ks
    • 5 chuckys spamming EZ without anyone else even saying something after the match in endgame chat
    • 4 chuckys just letting the entire team bleed out
    • 9 matches 5 gen tunneling one guy out
    • 4 matches proxy camping the first surv on hook
    • 3 guys telling my team how bad we are and to unalive ourselves (not swf but solo queue)
    • 5 chuckys just running around the last survivor on the ground refusing to hook him

Why can apparently nothing good or strong happen in this game without people immidiately abusing it for toxic puposes be it killer or survivors.

Chucky isn't strong, he's just not weak and easy to play which = total destruction vs most of solo q and below average swfs.

  • @luvcraft said:

I hate getting tunneled when I play as survivor, and I'm sure everyone else does too, which is why I always try to be nice as killer and go out of my way to NOT tunnel. And I appreciate other killers who do that too. But it occurs to me that by being nice we're being counterproductive; if tunneling isn't constantly happening, then survivors aren't running into it and complaining about it as much, so the devs aren't pressured to fix it. Whereas if EVERY killer was constantly tunneling, the survivor players would all be up in arms about it and something would get done.

Lol I'm sure most killers already have this down.

  • @BenSanderson55 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3586545#Comment_3586545

Gen rush? what does that mean to you? Thisis thrown around alot, killers saying it usually means I'm a bad but instead of admitting that I'll cry gen rush. To me a genrush is every survivor has commodious toolbox old brand new part all on separate gens. Sorry to say I can't remember a time i've seen this in soloq.

So predropping pallets (which I already addressed in My OP because I knew this would be brought up with be on seperate gens omitted) doesn't work in soloq because even if you're lucky and everyone is on seperate gens theres no way to coordinate to not get a 3gen because survivors don't necessarily know where everybody spawned and what gens they are on.

Gen rush, to me, is just playing the game. Doing gens is the survivors main objective.

Your post should be more about the pain of solo q and matchmaking. Solo q survivors can use "comp" strats, they just won't do anything if no one else on your team is playing that way. Most of us solo q players have come to terms with the fact that we will forever be the weakest role in the game. I would find a SWF, quit, or just stop caring about match outcome.

Just to be clear I kind of agree with where you're coming from but I wouldn't know how to fix it other than nerfing killer into the ground and that would just make good survivor teams unbeatable.

  • @BenSanderson55 said:

While baby survivors cannot. Don't see baby survivors looping for multiple gens or survivors all on separate gens while person being chased predrops. But I have seen on my many occasions trash killers getting 3 or 4k just from camping, tunneling, slugging. SOLOQ SOLOQ not thousand of hours team on comms I REPEAT SOLOQ

PS anticamp mechanic does nothing. I and many others tried to say (as earlier as the roadmap) it'll just teach killers how to camp better (proxy camp) and that's exactly what it did.

"Baby" survivors can rush gens, drop every pallet, and hold w. In most cases that will be enough to get at least a 3 man out against most killers across most skill levels in this game. Why there are so many survivors that struggle with the above is beyond my understanding however is evident whenever I play solo q.

  • Because BHVR can give you an unoptimized POS and you will still pay for it? They make more money from PC and next gen consoles, they don't care about switch and last gen, they'll still take your money though.

  • I believe one of the arguments for Nurse being "fine" is because of "sweaty" premades. So maybe play Nurse? Although you won't really have an excuse for losing anymore.

  • @Caiman said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3572698#Comment_3572698

Wanting a hook before 3 gens is considered a free win, now?

Sorry I was just making a point that killers quit when they feel the game is unwinnable probably quit at a similar rate as survivors while also being extremely intoxicated when I posted.

  • That's what killers do when they get their ######### pushed in, they quit. 3 gens pop without a down and just freeze and wait for the DC. While solo surivivor DCs are more commone you can always see a killer DC coming. Most killers just refuse to play when they aren't handed a free win.

  • @Hensen2100 said:

Do you think it is now, or back in the days of BT/DS/Dead Hard? I want to say any given match half or more than half of the survivor team usually has made for this, resilience, and windows and it's pretty much the autopilot looping build

BHVR: We don't want there to be a meta

*introduces most meta perk in the last 5 years*

    Nevermind...

  • @timetodohottakes said:

I had 2 surivivors doing this to me when I got my second kill with 4 gens left, they did nothing at all but hiding for at least 25 minutes until I found and closed the hatch 5+ minutes later (wanted payback), I know the game will end after a hour or so and bla bla bla, but they aren' t playing, they are simply wasting my time without cheating, can it still be considered keeping me hostage?

Edit: The game lasted a total of 36 minutes or so, the 25 minutes is the time they did nothing after my second kill, it was in the swamp map so it's extremely hard to find survivors that only wants to hide.

Game was unwinnable at that point, blame the devs for giving them no other options. Personally I'll just work on a gen because I have no patience for that kind of gameplay.

  • @MrsGhostface said:

Casual does not exist on either side anymore (Assuming you’re at a higher MMR)

BHVR has acknowledged that the MMR system is lacking in that regard and that they're working on making escaping less important. That said, why do people feel so beholden to what an invisible system considers a win or loss? You don't see your MMR go up or down, and the MMR parameters are a joke for matchmaking purposes so it doesn't even better if it goes up or down after a game.

Like, do you actually consider it a loss if you do 3 gens, save a couple of people, get a clutch flashlight save, take the killer on a game losing chase for the last 2 gens and then die in basement cause the killer had NOED and your teammates all left instead of risking it? Are you not capable of making a win/loss judgement for yourself without considering what BHVR's piss poor system thinks of your performance? Lol.

The idea is if you play well you should get teammates that are of similar skill as you. So if you know the game will only reward you with MMR if you escape it might matter to some people. I know MMR is a joke but it does do something. I do see a difference from my wifes account and mine when playing survivor and the difference is huge.

  • @daddyo said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3565101#Comment_3565101

And survivors can work on improving to make the skill gap in their favor

Obviously, however if MMR worked that gap shouldn't exist. Also "I think the major issue is that a lot of survivors only see themself escaping as a win." If you want to take dying for your team a personal win that's great however the devs put a system in place that counts dying as losing no matter what you did in the match.

  • @DemonDaddy said:

Survivor has to fail multiple times before being hooked; failed to hide, failed to escape chase before injury, and failed to escape chase before being downed.

Fail? Most those things are inevitable if skill levels are similar. That's just like saying when a gen pops it's a failure for the killer, it's inevitable in a balanced match.

  • @ProfessorDunwich said:

For tunneling to be successful you must take at least one or sometimes 2 hits after the unhook. Where are the calls for Survivors to improve their map and knowledge, situational awareness, looping ability, and stealth skills?

For tunneling not to be successful there has to be a massive skill gap between the survivor and killer.

    Don't give up🌞

Good for you dude, sadly it's the only way to play survivor.

  • Has anyone faced a Wesker without Ultimate weapon and pain resonance? But seriously it's fine, it's just a "basic #########" perk for "basic #########" killers, it helps them stomp solo q quicker.

7≈ years was enough. I understand the devs want to develop something else rather than having to focus on this game all the time. I would be bored too to listen to the community and meeting deadlines. Bugs after bugs with no end to sight, releasing patches but to no avail. Losing creativity and ingenuity to perks and chapters. I guess this is it then.

    It was a fun ride.

I wouldn't say it was all that fun.

  • I watch a few killer mains on twitch simply for how salty they are, they will literally play Nurse/Blight with the strongest build possible and will 4k 95-99% of the time but the second the survivors play well or get value from a "unbalanced perk" they say how boring they are.

  • I have been having server issues today. Lag in matches as well as what appeared to be a full match crashing however I still got the 5-10 seconds penalty.

  • If you're a killer and complaining about survivor perks you're just really bad at the game. I mean there's a guy that got a 300 win streak on myers. I'm sick of reading the "I suck but it because of this perk" post. You're bad at the game, it just that simple. Keep losing.
