It really doesn't matter. SWF are good when each player is good/efficient. What makes solo q so awful is the ######### matchmaking/MMR. Just bring back rank based MMR so solo survivors can still progress even if they have a ######### team. It's obvious BHVR is incapable of making an MMR system that works.

You have almost 5k posts in under 2 years. Nothing wrong with that but it certainly is not casual as most people would understand it.
Casual player, comp forum poster.

"I know that this will be fully ignored which is. Frustrating. But please don't make this game a budget fortnite. Y'all are better than this."
What would lead you to believe that BHVR is better than that?

SoloQ is awful 99 times out of 100. But you know what keeps me coming back? Those rare matches where complete strangers go against a ruthless killer and win.
Ever have those matches where everyone has been hooked twice, two people are injured, NOED activates and yet the team pulls off a team escape? I ❤️ those matches. Gets my heart racing every time.
Yeah I also enjoy playing 100 matches just to have fun in one of them.
-
You have to play in a SWF. The devs will never be able to implement an MMR system that works.

Simple lesson that no other killers can be viable in dbd. Everyone else is meant to be a plaything for survivor mains
God forbid they add some counterplay. You'll always have solo q and match making to make you feel viable.
-
I think it comes down to the community. Look at the recent "ask me anything" on reddit. The top post was about adding charms to the store, lol. This community is as garbage as the dev team. They really deserve each other.
-
I meant not working the main objective at all for the entire match. Also I don't feel like doing your main objective should be considered comp, it should just be considered normal play.
I think the main issues is MMR and match making, just give solo q the rank based system back. Reward players for what they do in the match and give them a reason to play matches out when you get a ######### team.

Players can play how they want. If the totem is more important than the escape, let it be so.
In dbd, the most sweaty player wins most matches. Whether that's a comp blight/ nurse or a 4man swf.
Solo has it harder, that's how it is and how it has always been.
Eh if you're not working the main objective for the entire match you're working with the killer IMO. No one is talking about a sweaty Nurse/Blight vs a 4 man. Solo q has always been harder but 2 years ago it wasn't pointless to play.

TLDR and no.

Do you know that SWF doesnt need turrets to rush you to oblivion.Even with quick downs? They just putted 2 turrets in whole game and only at endgame
By SWF do you mean a group of survivors that are way better than you playing together or....?

No, the devs CANT balance around SoloQ. The result would be that SWFs would even more turn into God-Mode. The devs want (and need) to make improvements which close the gap.
For me, ingame Commandos ("Ill go for the rescue", "Im in chase", "Ill stick on gen", "Player X can you go") in text-form would help A LOT (without making SWF stronger).
You don't have to balance around solo q, you just have to have better match making and MMR system. Rank based MMR was so much more rewarding for for solo survivors and actually encouraged people to play matches out.
-
@KaTo1337 said:
This is just wrong.
We have the same fast vaults just like years before the broken "new" ones came in, so I dont complain about this.
And this one thing leads you to the conclusion, the devs wouldnt care about a part of the playerbase? A bit overreacting for me.
The player base is split between casual solo q and everyone else. The devs choose everyone else.
-
Shhh the game requires at least half your team to be inefficient to be "balanced" in most matches.

And I mean by just giving Bloodpoints as a reward?
I just feel like this isn't enough incentive to do them. I've had the same dailies since Chapter 13 now as I just feel like there's no point in doing them. I would probably play Killer a bit more too if I got something better
Like maybe Rift fragments, or Shards. I prefer doing the Rift Challenges because at least we get Lore and Rift Fragments for doing them. But Dailies just seem outdated
Look at Fortnite, giving you Battle Stars for doing their dailies which progress in the Battle Pass
Maybe this game needs something similar
Yeah shards/fragments would be better, also redo the dailies so they could be completed by either survivor or killer. I asked Mclean on twitch about how there has to be an algorithm that gives you dailies for the role you play the least. He said it's random, I don't believe him.

Every match there are 4 survivors using WoO. If you check nightlight, you will see that the using rate of this perk is MORE than an exhaust perk!
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/XCTHZPLTE37T/image.png
You take away their looping crutch perk and watch how they all crumble down.
Spoken like someone who's afraid of going against survivors that won't go down in 5 seconds lol.
-
How about you share solo survivor escape rates when all 4 survivors are solo? That would be a good laugh.
-
It's scary when they break things on console because you never know if they'll fix it. Just look at last gen consoles, what a joke.

"I refuse to play David King because he is gay" is a sentiment held exclusively by bigots and 2 year olds because that's the only character trait that differenciates him from the rest of the roster. And the person I was responding to said they stopped playing him because they could no longer relate (the only thing that changed is he was revealed to be gay) despite playing all of the roster.
But I guess they can relate to Yoichi, Claudette, Dwight, Felix, and Feng Min simultaniously?
I guess with that reasoning you could say the same about the people that choose to play David after he was changed. I wouldn't say that personally but to each their own I suppose.

Then they can all grow up too 😭
Well they changed David so more people could be represented in the game. It doesn't make someone a bigot if they no longer identify with a character and choose not to play them. I think maybe you have some growing up to do.

The game is almost 7 years old. At some point I would think the game gets sundowned.
I’d love to see a new and improved DBD 2 with better graphics, details, etc m.
Do you think it’ll ever happen or will we always have this version until it just dies?
I would love to see a game like DBD but better be made by a competent DEV team.
-
Yeah I dunno, why is Skull Merchant a thing? There's a lot of bullshit in this game.
-
"people without a good connection can't enjoy your game" Yep and that's how it should be, sorry if you connection is poor, don't play online games. Sorry but the reality is that if you don't have a decent connection you ruin the game for other people. Please just don't play. BHVR is far to liberal with ping as it is.
-
I mean is that normal? Because if it is there's no excuse for it. Either fix the performance issues on last gen consoles or stop supporting those platforms and give refunds.
-
It's shocking to think that after nerfing the most popular exhaustion perk into the ground that players would use a different exhaustion perk.
-
Yeah dude it was like an accident.
-
Most killers are super sensitive. They don't have anyone else to blame for their failures on other than game balance. Regardless they like to treat a 1k as a personal victory since they can't acknowledge they're bad at the game.

I have been playing non stop survivor by myself, honestly it hasn’t been so bad.
yes I get trash teammates sometimes but there’s nothing you can really do about that. I just focus on myself, even if I get sacrificed, I still end up pipping up.
im not sure what changes could make solo Q survivors any better without boosting SWF but if anyone has ideas this is a good time to voice it.
I think solo Q is a lost cause as far as balancing. I think they should incentivize playing well as a solo survivor with more than just BP. The old ranking system did that, IMO. Honestly to know you're losing MMR in matches you can't control a lot of the time with people quitting or in some way making the match nearly unwinnable (inexperienced survivors, memes, challenges, etc) is kind of infuriating to be honest.
-
It's actually pretty easy once you learn how to pressure. Once you do you'll win most your matches but once in a while you'll be matched with an actual good team and get destroyed, then you can make a post on how DH is OP and survivors need to be nerfed.
-
This plus probably 1% of people that say they're high MMR actually are.
-
Funny I consider killer ez mode, but I don't play in a SWF so...
-
"There's only us vs them from players who think they've hit the skill cap at 400 hours in a 7 year old game."

I feel they should of added the HUD when they buffed killers in 6.1.

For what it's worth, the overwhelming majority of matches have hardly any different in ratings. It is not common for the matchmaker to expand to the maximum range- most people will have a match long before that can happen. It'll be a little more common if you're at an unusually high or low rating or if you're playing in off-peak hours for your region, but at that point there's only so much the matchmaker can do. No matter how long you wait, it can't find you a better match without players of your skill level playing at that time in your region.
I think most people that are complaining about matchmaking is due to the end result. Really I doubt matchmaking is the issue, the issue is how you calculate MMR. You can run a sole survivor build and escape without being productive or engaging with the killer, you can not escape and be the most productive survivor in the match. You lose MMR in matches were someone DC's or quits right away, not saying it's not possible to win a 3v1 but really if the killer is close to your "skill" level that shouldn't happen. I'm sure MMR works at the extremes of the "skill" spectrum but I'm pretty sure everything in between is just a nonsensical ######### show.
-
Actually it was kind of asked for but people should of realized it was BHVR that was going to design it, big mistake.

And most of it is with Wraith and Hillbilly. So when I play survivor why tf am I getting lobbies where players have anything between 2-12k hours of the game played? With survivors having +100% bps bonus too meaning that there isn't exactly an issue with too many survivors playing the game out there. Also I suck at the game and can't run a single circle to loop a killer once without getting hit let alone run somewhere that isn't in the middle of nowhere where I just die afterwards. It makes absolutely no sense and at this point I'm about to give up on the game just because of it
"The matchmaker starts off very specific and gradually broadens its range the longer you wait for a match. The overwhelming majority of the time you'll be paired against people within a few points of your own rating." (Unnamed DBD DEV 2023)
See everything is fine, you're just naturally good at the game. It's not like SBMM doesn't work at all or is based solely on escapes/kills and not how you actually played during your matches.

Yep, happens all the time. Most likely a moderator didn't like your comment or the entire thread was removed.

This is probably the least fun I"ve had playing the game. Just imagine playing a 3 gen zoning killer with at least 3 gen regression perks that will never leave their 3/4 gen area or commit to chase. Now imagine that is what the game will be for a week or two. I just hope she goes the way of the Twins because wow, what a crappy, boring game this is right now.

Why can we not see our MMR? I've heard people say it's because it would lead to toxicity. People are already toxic and everyone is already convinced that they are in high MMR anyway. It would be nice to actually know where you stand.
I think it would do more harm than good. I know you specifically would like to know but I think a lot of people would actually be upset if they knew their MMR. Also showing MMR will just promote more sweaty, comp like games. I don't know if you ever played or watched competitive DBD but that's not a game I would like to play.

I mean they're never going to show stats if something is broken unless they are planning on fixing it soon, they'll just hide it from the player base.

On console you can't hide your own name from other players, even though console players cannot change their names and are likely to get targeted by other players because of it.
You can change your name on PSN, only the first time is free though, but I get what you're saying.
