  • The game needs to be aligned from 1 survivor < killer < swf to survivors < killer. Killers have too many literal and figurative obstacles while it’s easy breezy beautiful cover girl for swf. And that needs to change, and it cannot be fixed with new perks especially when the killer only has 4 slots to counter the many more problems they face in a game.

A good starting point is ONLY making items available in a trial (keys and maps should be ultra rare offerings) and toolboxes being reworked so either only one can work at a time or they only work on hooks. Killers should also get 6-8 perks. And survivors who daudle when the gates are open need to be Exposed and suffer the consequences.

  • Yes, the emblems need fixing and yes, Legion is in need of going back to the drawing board.

    But you know what?

It has not been mentioned that maybe one of the reasons there’s a drop in players is because the game is currently balanced like 1 survivor < the killer < swf. Hard pill to swallow but survivors, especially swfs, are too strong right now and the killer is too weak. And it can’t be fixed with new perks.

The killer should be the role you go to to relax and take it easy - you’re the killer, you’re in control - but in reality it’s the exact opposite. Survivors have 4 perks that all help them survive while the killer has 4 perks that they must choose that still leaves them open to a multitude of weaknesses (ie. If you have an aura build you can’t do anything about items and stuns etc.) Survivors also only lose items upon consumption or death, and they have really strong items (ahem multiple toolboxes) that makes the game halfway over before the killer can get across the map or get someone.

That’s not even going into how the hatch screws over solo survivors and killers alike.

There’s way too many obstacles for killers, which encourages new and pressured killers alike to camp and tunnel to ensure they get something out of the game. And survivors, especially in a group, have too much power and freedom that ultimately makes games for them to lose and killers gain traction only through their mistakes.

  • I’m going to prestige Jane because I have never prestiged anyone and need to do those trophies and I really like Jane. She fits me.

To all the people complaining about the KYF perks:

You don't even know who the damn killer is or what perks they have to this chapter it could be something equally as powerful maybe even another nurse tier killer and you're already hollering nerf without seeing what it's being released with, not only that but if it was a mistake then they probably aren't even a final product.....my point being we shouldn't judge something that isn't even confirmed to go live yet without seeing it's counterpart it could be alot stronger than we imagine

I am not fond of anything that sounds like it’s necessary to either a) stand a chance or b) all but guarantee an escape and gain a near permanent place in load outs.

You obviously don’t play both sides in this game. That or you’re better at survivor then you are killer, and aren’t as skilled as you wished. Playing Killer is not terrible. It’s still fun, and it really feels like you want it to be easier for you. Honestly, you might just not be good as a killer. Sometimes people* like games that they aren’t all that good at. Try survivor more, you might enjoy yourself better, or realize it’s not “easy easy”

I play both sides. I am not amazing at either, but I know that survivors have it easier than they should and that killers have it harder especially against swf.

It really feels like you don’t want surviving to be harder for you :)

I know. As I said though, I save my shards for cosmetics and I only use cells for cosmetics too.

  • Cosmetics usually release on Wednesday mornings est.

@pemberley I'll give it a go tonight. I would switch-out Urban Evasion for it, but I just know I'll do that and end up in a Hag match. So looks like Self-Care has to go. 😂

Don’t need to heal yourself if you don’t get caught. ;)

  • @TheLastGreatStar said:

@pemberley Is Lightweight worth trying out then? I was using Iron Will, Self-Care, Urban Evasion and Quick & Quiet on my Meg last night and I was tempted to switch out Self-Care for Lightweight, but wasn't sure how useful it was...

I have been using it for a while now on my Dwight and Nea, and I know it’s rather impossible to tell how well it’s working for you, but I have not only survived but managed to lose killers in a chase several times since equipping it. Your footsteps fade really fast and either the killer has to keep a watchful eye on the ground or have you in their sights to get you. Playing killer, I also know that some maps also make it hard to see tracks like in Coldwind.

I love Urban evasion but tbh after lightweight, I have to say lightweight seems to be better for stealth ironically. You go fast and you go quiet. I use both on Nea though. It makes for handy dandy evasion.

  • Survivor: Stake Out and Lightweight. I only have SO on Tapp but oh boy I love getting great skill checks and getting gens done without a toolbox or ruin. Lightweight because I like having invisible footsteps.

Killer: Bbq. Hands down. I love getting bp and the aura reading is nice too. I would not have reached 1 mil bp this chapter without bbq on Freddy.

  • I have 1 million bp, 10k shards, and 20 dollars ready for the chapter. I hope it’s released within the hour! PlayStation updates the store at 11 est.

  • As a solo survivor I agree. Nothing is worse than some cocky arrogant swf who couldn’t handle getting downed leaving me and any other solos holding the bag. Especially at 5 when it’s pretty much doomed unless the killer deliberately takes it easy.

    HOWEVER

Swf would definitely abuse this. I have no doubt the very jerks who hurt solos would dc in a heartbeat to make sure someone in their little group got something before teabagging at the hatch.

Report them once the trial ends. The devs do have a plan to change the end game, but we don't know what it is yet.

I did, although I don’t think ps4 does much. I also tried to take video but my phone was still on the photo setting and by the time I fixed it, he THEN jumped down with Balanced Landing and teabagged and left the exit.

  • I love the idea of Ghostface using lockers.

A good power idea, besides the lockers, could be that when Ghostface hits Survivors, Survivors see other survivors as duplicates of Ghostface. In this scenario, Ghostface can crouch walk like a survivor as a passive.

Not to be that person but survivors are supposed to survive, it’s just an early match just like a mori.

Survivors surviving is not a given. That’s part of the appeal of horror movies - you watch the killer rampage and you’re not sure if your favorite character or anyone at all will make it out...but you do know that the killer has and will kill.

Moris are fine but if you want to “nerf” them, the only acceptable “nerf” is making moris part of the base gameplay but you can only do so on a would be 3rd or final hook. That’s more than fair.

If you don’t want to deal with dying in a horror game that has Michael Myers and Freddy in it...you’re either extremely entitled or you don’t know or care about horror. Moris are fun for everyone! I love doing and getting moried. But hey, I might just be old fashioned where I think horror is supposed to mean something for the survivors.

You could remove the aura effect and replace it with something less oppressive. For example: "After you look at the killer for 5/4/3 seconds, they are stunned for 3/4/5 seconds".

Well that’s not oppressive at all and totally not the exact reason ds got nerfed.

Here is how you fix ooo:

Only the obsession can make use of it. When you look at the killer, the killer’s LOCATION is revealed for 3 seconds on a 30/25/20 second cool down. When the killer looks in your direction, they can see you and you gain a 25% bonus to action speed and 200% bp to all categories (killer gains 100% more when you’re in their sights.) You immediately go into the struggle phase on hook.

  • @Kagrenac said:

If keys get nerfed moris have to as well. They're both overpowered crutches.

Call me old fashioned but a killer is supposed to KILL, moris are fine. Keys are a cop out.

That being said, I would be fine if moris became base game on the condition survivors can die on a 3rd hook.

  • I read that thread, felt no love in that Chili’s, and felt so attacked right then.

"Dead by Daylight's new chapter "Demise of the Faithful" will be delivered from March 20! What is the power and perk of the new killer "The Plague" and the survivor "Jane Romero"?

You have to account for time zones. That means the US is probably getting it on the 19th.

What would be the explanation for the Entity bringing a Xenomorph into its realm, though? All the Killers are humans/former humans that have somehow been warped into killers. Bringing in a Xenomorph would be like bringing in a bear.

It sounds to me like the Entity cares very little for the well being of its captives and just wants to be entertained. Bringing in a Xenomorph would be highly entertaining. And Xenomorphs are presumably a lot more smarter than bears, I would even go so far to say they can outmatch humans.

  • Things I’m waiting for:

    1. Freddy buffs, specifically the buff where survivors cease actions and can only run and vault in the transition.
    2. Console optimization
    3. A Haunted Manor/Murder House map
    4. Updated moris for Trapper and Wraith
    5. A fix to gen rushing
    6. Swf no longer getting a free pass
  • I need the 4 man hatch escape

Also ps4 does track. Hit the ps button, go to dbd, scroll to trophies, and all to be completed trophies are on top.

  • @Mc_Harty said:

@Edilibs I would not be running Nurses on Freddy. His base aura reading alone is strong enough of a tracking tool. I would swap it out for Sloppy Butcher.

Nurses is actually pretty helpful because tier 3 is 4 m bigger than default lullaby radius and it really helps to catch survivors off guard.

  • You know what would be a cool collection?

A collection based on the classic (and awesome) game Clue/Cluedo.

It could even have a 20s-50s vibe to it.

    Adam = Professor Plum

    Jake = Mr. Green

    Claudette = Mrs. White

    Jane = Miss Scarlet

    Feng = Dr. Orchid

Dwight or David = Colonel Mustard

    Meg = Mrs. Peacock

    1. Badass Grandma Laurie
    2. A 30s/40s Noir collection
    3. Killers get special skins for 1,000 sacrifices. Could overlay with prestige to make it extra special.
    4. Zombie Apocalypse Survivor Jane Romero
  • It would be nice if devotion granted more shards.

  • @darktrix said:

Hm, so survivor is looking at getting tunneled all game for dying light. No idea why they would disconnect, besides that automatically gives the killer dying light credit anyway if they disconnect. Pretty sure I have seen it activate when the obsession disconnected.

Also pretty sure there is probably more to it than just being obsession. Like packing a mori on top of it or a killer they did not like such as legion, who is adept at tunneling.

It’s not okay to dc. If you don’t like the killer, suck it up buttercup and deal with it. With that kind of attitude, it’s seriously no wonder why survivors want easy games.

The only thing to understand about someone DC'ing is that they are a spoiled brat that can't take an L. Doesn't matter what survivors did throughout the game, if you can't take an L you shouldn't be playing an online multiplayer game. They should go play My Little Pony Island Adventure 3 where they won't get their precious feelings hurt.

A question: does this also apply to salty survivors who would rather dc than take a hook? Doesn’t matter what a killer did, if you can’t take an L go play Barbies, right?

My point stands: treat others as how you would like to be treated. There’s no glory in being toxic little poop stains. And there is a significant difference between taking an L and having to suffer sore winners and they’re incredibly unsportsmanlike behavior. In the end, it’s still 4 people vs 1 person.

  • If no rework (and hopefully rework = significant buffs, not “brand new killer! Screw you Freddy mains!” like a certain weather storm company did to Symmetra) happens, seriously all bhvr needs to do is one simple thing:

Transitioning survivors cease all actions and can only run or vault until they’re fully in the dream world. The survivor animation even supports this notion.

This is what hurts Freddy the most - it does not feel good when you sleep a group on a gen and they just...ignore you. No one would ever do such a thing against any other killer.

@pemberley As an added bonus, I could've sworn that if you DC n console as a killer there's a small chance that you could actually destroy the survivors's consoles somehow.

I understand full-well that some entitled brats will abuse this out of spite "I didn't get my 4k so I don't want anyone to win! Weh!" However I can only hope that someday a toxic survivor's console will get corrupted so that console will be a little bit better.

I haven’t heard this. I personally hope that’s not true (even if some would rightly deserve that) because I have limited funds and can’t afford to fix or get another console (especially with ps5 around the corner.)

I do think that there is a small chance you can steal survivors’ items, that’s happened to me before when a killer dced and I tragically lost my flashlight or broken key (usually the items I bring because one sucks and I can’t use a flashlight to save my life - I am also hoarding keys, kits, and toolboxes for “when I need them” and for that dang trap door trophy.)

  • @GrootDude said:

@pemberley the killer is just closing the application/ejecting disc not just hitting leave game. Regardless of if you lose you shouldn’t deny blood points/shards to others.

In my experience (on ps4,) the killer dcs because other survivors (I personally try not to be toxic) are purposely denying the killer points and being mean to boot. Yeah sure some killer dcs are rage quits, but I think most are people at their breaking point, the match was so miserable for them that ultimately sticking it to those nasty survivors is worth more than losing a meager sum of blood points.

I don’t condone dcs, but I am much more sympathetic to killers doing it because as a killer and someone who solos, I can tell you survivors are more nasty than the actual killer (and some definitely deserve a comeuppance.)

    Bring Franklin's

The problem with Franklin’s is that you equip it upon seeing 2+ items, and yet it feels like a waste because you knock it out of their hands and either their friends or themselves just pick it up later. Franklin’s no Franklin’s, I honestly see no difference with item matches except a brief feeling of “ha screw you.”

  • I don’t condone dcing. But I understand why a killer would. Have you met some of the a-holes in the fog? Especially swf. It’s one thing to want to survive, it’s another when they go out of their way to make you miserable.

For the record, that’s still a person playing a killer. Treat others as you would want to be treated.

In Overwatch you can't buy skins unlike dbd where you have to buy each one you want. And this is a huge difference that Overwatch has with dbd and is the reason why I like more the system of Overwatch than dbd one: You can get every skin you want for free if you work hard. If you played long enough and have most of the items in the game when you open a lootbox you earn credits all the time for duplicated items, and plus you can get credits by itself without the duplication thing. In dbd you get far less iridescent shards when you level up than what you would get if you would open a lootbox in OW, and besides the skins are far cheaper than dbd. I never buyed one lootbox in OW and I got all the skins that I want for the characters I want without speding a single dollar, in dbd they are starting to force you to buy recent skins if you want them instead of being a choice and that sucks.

In Overwatch, new skins are on a time limit and to get them for free you need to have spent a HUGE amount of time playing to rack up enough coins; it’s pretty much impossible to get more than 1 event legendary. In dbd, the skins will always be there.

Also Actiblizzard literally preyed on people’s good will to purchase a charity skin as a blueprint for selling limited time legendaries. Then there’s the owl. They made so much money from loot boxes and yet seemingly only a fraction goes into the actual game, and apparently that wasn’t enough to save 700 jobs (but it was, however, magically okay to pay heinously rich guys an obscene amount of money at the top.)

bhvr definitely has the more honest model for cosmetics, even if it’s not perfect.

  • @Iceman said:

Simply wait until a cosmetics that you like is purchasable with shards. Otherwise I think the devs are doing a fine job with keeping things auric cells only. There’s enough cosmetics to earn with shards. Also every now and then they make certain collection available for shards. However, it’s limited.

Once again cosmetics are a want not a necessity.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/244/M5HF40B71W5W.png

Once upon a time I thought similarly with Overwatch.

But let’s be honest: “cosmetics are a want not a necessity” is a conceit consumers tell ourselves when the game industry as a whole has abused our trust and wallets. Especially in games like Overwatch and dbd where there is very little way to differentiate and prove oneself, cosmetics eventually become status symbols.

The crappy capitalist corporatist behavior at Actiblizzard opened my eyes to this myth.

I think bhvr are more or less doing fine in this department (at least we have solid proof they care about this game and they’re continuously working on it) but I do think it would be wise if they lowered prices (I know I might be inclined to splurge more) and allowed more shard options, as well as making free base cosmetics such as giving Spirit some dang clothes and including Susie and Joey in the Legion.

    It will though

I don't see any reason to play Ace or quentin for my builds right now. I would rather play with Meg to get her adrenaline or Dwight for his bond.

Some characters would die since they have no useful perks (for the most part)

Not necessarily. Those “useless” perks wouldn’t be as useless since theoretically they are not taking up a slot. Suddenly Ace’s aura perk can easily pair with kindred without taking up space.

  • I’ve been wondering that too. I kind of hope it will be this Tuesday just because I really want to play the new characters and Jane is going to be my main (yay! An older plus size woman with super cute cosmetics!) I’m also at 820k and I don’t want to keep capping.

  • They should seriously consider making the Entity reveal the daudler and give them their own personal blood warden. You won, you should have left when you had the chance; now the killer can do as they please with you.

  • I imagine Discordance would be a handy dandy perk. If her purge affects Franklin’s, that would be mercilessly hilarious.

  • @LegitAdventurer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/51016/should-there-be-more-exposed-survivor-perks

This perk would be unbelievably op. No Mither, Resiliance, This Cant Be happening, new dying light.

Do gens 34% with larger great skill checks. You want to talk about gen rush? Lol i don't even need a toolkit

In my description of my hypothetical 1 health state survivor perk, I specifically don’t mention gens; only altruistic actions.

It's how the game's designed 😐️ I Love playing Killer but I have to agree, It's pretty stressful sometimes especially if your not playing the top 3 Killers. Killer's just have so much to manage and you have to stay pretty focused.

I usually have to take brakes from the game because It stops being fun at a certain point or I get Burnt out, but I still always come back.

If killer was easier I think It might ruin the fun for survivors, Just Look at legion. Part of me wants to buy Legion and just play him constantly since he doesn't require so much effort but he does kind of ruin the game in terms of fun for the other side.

See, I have Legion but I can’t really play them because their power disorients me and I lose survivors in the process.

I just think survivors have way too many options to just rush into the endgame, especially swf. Everything works in their favor, from items to teamwork to the fact that 4 perk slots are more than enough for them to survive since every survivor perk works toward that goal. Killers have just 4 perks to try to cover a whole laundry list of hurdles and objectives.

  • I honestly prefer survivor challenges even if some are quite tedious to the point you try to signal to the killer you’ll stay if they just let you open the gate.

The problem with killer challenges is that unlike survivors, killers are unique and therefore you will likely be much stronger on one killer and much weaker on another. You’re essentially playing roulette with killer challenges and if you get a killer you’re weak at, chances are it will be a rather miserable grind because few survivors either catch on or let you do your challenge in good faith.

As for survivor challenges, I just feel like since you HAVE to do them you notice how much you’re dying trying to do them. When I don’t have a gate challenge, I open them frequently. When I don’t need a new item and survive, I escape with items.

The only survivor challenge that needs fixing is indeed the gate one, not because making it to the endgame is hard, but because I’m 90% sure opening gates are not cumulative. There have been so many times I open a gate, get to 80%, and the killer sees me and boom noed. You either need to do it in one sitting or you gotta hope the killer caught the survivor who got the exit gate practically open and swoop in and complete it. Not fair. Especially when everything else is cumulative.

  • I got the game as a ps plus title, and I think overall I spent about 45-50 bucks max on characters and cosmetics together over the months. Everything else I did with shards or events.

I do think though that bhvr would actually make more money off cosmetics (especially those purple tier ones) if they were 3-5 bucks an outfit. 10 dollars for 1 auric cell outfit basically means I would need to really like it for me to drop some money on it (like hit the books Spirit, because she looked like a Ravenclaw instead of a half naked woman or woman in a bathrobe.)
