Let me translate this: "the way to counter this is to find the locker the survivor is in by spamming your power, which takes time to recharge, in hopes of triggering killer instinct, then stand still, hoping the survivor won't leave the locker for the next 60 seconds, so that they will get a stillness crow. In the mean time, while I'm hopefully in the process of countering Head On, which is not a given at all in this scenario, I'm not doing anything, while the three other survivors are free to repair gens."
This is the most ridiculous counter I've read in a long time. Do you even think this stuff through before you suggest it or do you just hope no one looks up the numbers here?
Lol, instead of insulting the suggestion I gave on how to counter head on, you could have just said that this isn't a viable counter to win a game, which I know it isn't. I was just giving them a counter to specifically getting one person from a locker if they are that annoyed and just want 1 kill. A lot of people don't realize that idle crows cancel the ability to use head on, so I was just giving them that information because it isn't really stated anywhere unless someone tells you.
It's not a counter to win a game, but it does work if you want to just yoink someone from a locker and have 1 less person using head on. Also, I never said to spam your power. You translated that which is wrong. If you're chasing someone on top of saloon, you place one bird down so it traverses in front of you so if you get killer instinct as it passes the lockers that the survivor is running by, you stop and bait head on. 1 bird has a cool down of like 5 seconds and 2 birds have a cooldown of like 9-10 seconds, doesn't take long to regain your power.
I literally was just trying to tell OP that as artist, you have stuff built into your basekit that allows you to quickly check lockers mid chase so you can bait head on and not just keep getting hit by it. It seems like OP is relatively newer or just newer to artist so I was trying to help them by giving them information on her. A lot of people play here and don't really understand how she works. No need to degrade others because you misunderstood them.

I totally understand this all now, I've been seeing that's survivors are pretty screwed on this event so I can see the general idea of what going on now. Thinking about it now it all kinda all makes sense, I just wish the devs made it better for the survivors to enjoy this event like the killers can
Yeah, overall the killer has more power in controlling the pacing of the game (usually). I'm playing killer when my friend isn't on and I'm getting twice as much bp on average in one game playing as killer than survivor. I'm getting 150k to over 200k per game while in survivor, I'm usually just getting 90k-150k at best because I don't want to waste time maxing out points while my teammates slowly die one by one (don't want to be that guy).
-
Probably never, this isn't really up to BHVR but more up to the license holders sadly.
-
If people are saying slurs or derogatory messages relating to having an individual harm themself, then this is bannable material if its properly reported. Pretty sure that BHVR takes these things pretty seriously, you just won't be informed of the disciplinary action taken because that's not how their system works.

I don't know the difference as I'm not an English speaker. Could you explain me? (I mean, I'm really curious.)
I know Maurice. I'm playing the game for long enough for that, but I was wondering what the screenshot was about as I didn't see the tweet at this moment.
Along with what the other person said, "bruh" can also just mean "Really?" or is used to respond to someone when they say something shocking or surprising (something unexpected). It's used in a neutral way a lot of the time as just a small reaction type response.

Aw man Sorry that you were getting tunnel I don't personally ever play survivor, so I don't know the ratio of killers tunneling to survivers gen rushing but I'm sorry that that happened for you and your team. Yeah, that's a great way to see it, though I was just wondering because I've been seeing people talk about it on other discussions, trying to say that it was all because of the event and I was a little confused
I think the event definitely exacerbates it because survivors really want to get the gates open for the mask rewards and killers feel the pressure to get control of the game so they don't get stomped with no bp. I honestly think that in general, most players aren't doing it maliciously, everyone just gets stuck in a loop where they had a sweaty game and now feel like they have to play sweaty or they'll get stomped.
I think also people expect that since there is an event going on, then both sides should be playing "nicer" and not as sweaty, but the problem with that is that some players don't really care if there's an event going on. I personally try to maximize bp on both sides when I'm playing. I try to 2 hook all survivors (if I can) and as survivor I'll do chests, totems, sabos until I get my points high enough in each category (if I have time). I've had games where I try to be nice and not kill a survivor if I haven't hooked someone, but usually I lose because I can't find the survivor I need. Same thing with survivor, I'm not going to cleanse dull totems if I see my teammate in trouble.
Most of my games survivors will be getting at least 20k points, but if I keep running into the same person, I can't just keep giving them a freebie after the first 2 times. If there's 5 flans though, I'll definitely be going hard to get my initial 2 hooks on everyone, but once I reach that point, I'll ease up. I had a game last night where I had 3 survivors on hook at 5 gens because they just misplayed very badly and Claudette was sitting on a gen when this was happening. She blew the gen and I rushed over to here and just swung at the air in hopes she would save her team. I then let them do a full reset and eased up so they could get some bp (it was a 5 flan game).

Why is this event being used as an excuse for gen rushing? survivors have been gen rushing just much as killers have been tunneling and camping games since I've played it? I don't know why this event is being used as an excuse for it?
The way I see it is that if the killer is hard set going to tunnel someone off your team, you have to sit on gens and hope to finish them as quickly as possible to potentially get that survivor out alive.
I had some really rough games yesterday as survivor where I was hard tunnelled in the game and I was just telling my friend (in duos) to sit on gens and please get them finished in hopes that my adrenaline will pop and give them enough time to open exit gates for us all to escape. If a killer is set on camping and tunnelling one survivor to try and win, then yes the gens will fly because that's all the team can do.
Same from killer side, I know if I proxy camp the survivor too hard at 2 gens left, there's going to be a high chance that the survivors will just sit on the gens and save after they finish them. It's to be expected.

As you should. Punish face campers and super Tunneling as much as possible. I actually wrote this post after a match where I let someone go because their team wouldn’t get them up.
I mainly wrote this as a to see how other killers would comment. I usually disregard Survivor comments because a lot of them feel entitled to win every single match.
I personally am fine with 2Ks so I don’t fully go try hard more of the year, but around extra blood point time? I do it so I can help out my M1 killers who BHVR has left to suffer.
Yeah I understand that. Sometimes you just do what you have to do when you're playing either side. Last night when I was playing killer, I tunnelled a guy out because he wouldn't stop flashlight spamming me and tbagging after dropping every pallet. The dude just wanted my attention real bad, (I tried to go for unhooker but they protected the unhooker). I tunnel the guy out and because he wouldn't just hide and heal, I ended up getting a 4k because of his weird need to get tunnelled. I definitely should have only gotten a 1k maybe 2k at best if he didn't troll and throw for his team. (He was running DS)

1: There's an anniversary event going on for the game where you can unlock cosmetics for certain characters. When you grab the invitation (which looks like a scroll on a black pedestal of skulls) and the end game collapse timer starts you unlock 1/12 of the cosmetics.
2: The obsession is a role in the game that can be influenced by some of the survivor and killer perks. If you look at the HUD and see the little claw things around a character portrait, that indicates the obsession. There will always be an obsession in the game (got changed at some point) and when the obsession is in chase, the claws will wiggle. Obsession gives you extra blood points when you die or escape.
3: That's Oni's special power. You drop little orbs of blood that he can pick up to charge his blood fury. You drop them when you are injured and he is out of blood fury. Once he is in blood fury, no one drops orbs so this is usually a good time to heal.
-
The mask that gets unlocked is random.

I don't know about it, but I feel Pharmacy will be changed to look more like Residual Manifest, which is kinda the same perk but for beamer. I could see Pharmacy being like, you have to rumage to find the med-kit and you got a speed boost to heal or something.
Yeah... I'm just scared because Pharmacy is actually pretty good to use in treasure hunter builds. Also, if they make Pharmacy like Residual Manifest, I can see some weird perk interactions happening if you equip both. I still haven't tried equipping Residual Manifest and Appraisal yet to see if it consumes RM token before Appraisal tokens. That would also be a nerf to Pharmacy which I feel like it doesn't deserve. If they are trying to nerf "healing" perks than I guess that would count, but I feel like the point of Pharmacy is getting a quick one time use heal when you need it.
-
From the trends of what you post, it seems like you struggle to play killer. Maybe look up a guide or consider playing stronger killers if the M1 killers aren't working at all. Killers will get more BP than survivors usually, so it seems like user error at this point.
-
I'm kind of nervous because they're touching both Lucky Break and Pharmacy, and I already run those perks sometimes and enjoy how they function... I really don't want them to rework those perks and I'm hoping it's just a number change. I'm excited though to see what they do with them all. There's some perks on there that caught me by surprise (tenacity, lucky break, botany, eruption, jolt, overcharge)/

The game is far more than just a slasher flick. It covers a wide variety of genres. There's already plenty of swimsuits and other summer themed outfits representing the slasher 'aspect' of the game.
I'd prefer more creative outfit collections in the future.
I want a Survivor in full medieval knight armour, which makes stupidly loud clanging noises every time they move. Impractical, sure, but it would be fun.
Kinda sounds like Dwelf. I was coming up from the basement in Myer's house on Haddonfield and I heard a faint jingle of bells above me. Long story short, all 4 survivors ended up dying in that basement.

If I notice that some players aren’t doing well I do back off and focus on other things. Usually breaking doors or finding the VIP pass, but I won’t go Easy on them or throw a match. I do let survivors leave however. Usually opening the gate myself to let the last one leave. I don’t enjoy 5 minute long matches. So I will try and extend them by actively leaving areas I hooked people in.
It really just depends on what I see in the pregame lobby. Characters and Customization do tell you alot about the Survivor, plus you can see what they are holding.
Thats why I titled this “Match the Salt. Grind the Meat”, because I can just not be Try Harding it against a group if they don’t start being salty. 2Ks are fine by me in a good match, but if you notice that in the beginning that the survivors are actively trying to troll or bully you? No mercy should be shown, because they wouldn’t show any to you.
You sure didn't come off that way in your OP. You kind of just complained about one bad game and then listed out some commentary of how you solved your problem with Pyramid Head by playing ruthlessly. I get your sentiment of wanting to give advice on how to solve these "problems" but it definitely didn't come off that way in how you originally said it.
You also mentioned that you're doing this out of spite, which isn't a great thing to promote as your intention to "sweat." I can understand sweating because you want to get BP and if you don't have some control of the game as killer, there's no guarantee that the survivors will let you get your bbq stacks. You shouldn't ever do things just out of spite, not a healthy mentality.
To each their own though, I'm trying to not "sweat" this anniversary, but I can't really help if a killer can't catch me in chase or throws the game chasing one person. When I'm in my matches, I'll usually cleanse at least 2 totems or open chests to try and max my bp, but if the killer is camping or tunnelling people, I don't have any other option than to try and rush gens to hope that the survivor might have a chance to escape.

I wouldn't say the challenges are that terrible so far. I've almost completed the solo tome part and I'll be moving onto the community challenge in hopes to try and get us all closer. The vaulting a window/pallet and going from healthy to injured is annoying. It kind of encourages messing up your chase and it feels wrong sometimes to purposefully throw the start of a chase just so you can complete the tome, but that's not new.

You don't need to escape? I've never got any mask if I didn't escape but I also don't remember about the gates being opened before I died or the hatch being closed...
This is what Peanits said in a different post:
"For a Killer, you just need to grab an invitation and finish the match. For Survivors, you need to grab an invitation and stay alive until an exit is opened (either hatch or gate)."

I dont really do killer anymore, it's not balanced and I dont get chill people like others seem to it's just stacked meta, toxicity, stupid items. And last time I played I was getting hackers daily.
But as survivor I'm chased over the whole map, I'm great at chases but I never see or hear one and since they spawn in totem spots and I know most of them it's just the fact everyone else is getting them or I dont have time without just throwing every game till it's done which isnt very team friendly
Yep, this sounds about right. I'll equip it as survivor because I'll play survivor for 70% of my games, but I'll just cave and do that challenge as killer because it's just easier. Good luck getting this one. For some reason it feels harder than the cleanse totems challenge for some reason. It could be your killer snagging them before your fellow survivors get the chance as well.

Answer to question 1:
Come one, come all to the Twisted Masquerade. Dead by Daylight’s 6th Anniversary Event is here, featuring a new offering, event-themed hooks and generators, and lavish cosmetic rewards to earn for Killers and Survivors. Seek your invitation and experience a celebration for the ages – provided you live to remember it.Answer to question 2:
You have to interact with one of the podiums to get the sparkles and then have either the exit gates opened or hatch closed.

That's understandable and I figured that might be the case. My matchmaking has been really awful today so I only got one invitation and in my last match (Springwood) no invitations spawned.
Yeah that's a shame, from what I've heard so far, it's been difficult finding the podium for a lot of people. I could imagine a map with that many buildings it being difficult to navigate the whole map without throwing the game. Good luck with your future matches. I'm sure you'll get them all before the event ends!
-
Why would you be salty that someone is hoarding cakes to the point where you want to disable the use of them for everyone? It also can be that you get a bunch of cakes on certain killers you don't play often, so it's not like you're hoarding cakes, you just only play that killer every once in awhile. There's no malicious intent between offering a cake or hoarding a cake. I don't see the point of going out of your way to disable just a bp offering.
-
Unnerving Presence also increases the likelihood of a skill check occurring.
On survivor side, Spine chill also increases the chance a skill check happens when it's active.
-
Are you sure you didn't miss it? The event reward it gives can be on either the killer or survivor side.
-
It's flantastic!
I'm sorry...

I think some people misunderstood my original comment... I am genuinely curious and not trying to be negative. And I stand by my comment about Haddie getting a Rogue costume (X-Men). I was just expecting a bit more for other characters aside from masks due to the nature of the event.
You do realize that they can't just make a cosmetic inspired by a different franchise without getting that franchise's permission?
I think the reason why they didn't do more full set cosmetics inspired by the event is because they already have release schedules for other cosmetics. They probably just don't have enough time to make more cosmetics for characters because all of this stuff is planned way ahead of time. It would have been cool to have some more full sets available for purchase in the store, but considering how much work it prob took them to make the content they're giving us, makes sense why there isn't "more."
-
@xBlitzAce1989x said:
Relevance was my point. A masquerade is supposed to be mysterious and fun. Did you read my comment about Mikaela and the Grove event? A more interesting costume would have been if they gave Haddie a Rogue (X-Men) costume. And who cares if the stuff is free?
I mean, they did give both the Dredge and Haddie full costumes that are masquerade themed. If you are underwhelmed by them, then that is a fair opinion for you to have, but considering they're free cosmetics that allow everyone to get it (independent if people have the money for it) I think they look pretty cool.
After reading the link that Mandy posted, I'm actually even more impressed by the sheer amount of things they have for this event. A lot of free log in bonuses, lots of cosmetics altogether, and a lot of small visual details making things festive.
-
They announced it in the anniversary stream. There will be 3 new anniversary charms, 1 full cosmetic for Haddie, and 1 cosmetic for Dredge in the event tome. On top of that, we're getting 12 personalized masquerade masks for killers/survivors. I'm not sure what else you want, but to me that seems like a lot of work and free stuff they're giving out.
-
You must be trying to get green glyphs as survivor. That was your first mistake. If you play killer, the green glyph challenge isn't too bad. It's probably why you can't find them as survivor. It's both easier to find the glyphs as killer and it takes a fraction of the time to close them.

This works if you have an indoor map offering on David :')

But we already have a newbie perk with technician. Why do we need more? And it doesn't take that long to learn skillchecks anyway (I'm assuming)
You see... the problem with having your newbie friend run technician is that they probably don't have it since it is a feng teachable. So, you just have your friend blowing the gen every other skill check because they were scratching their nose or drinking water.
Even if they have technician, that perk is so punishing that seeing your friend miss the skill check and seeing all that progress leave the gen is just too much to handle sometimes. They're accidentally griefing you without meaning to.
Corrective action is just a better version of bring a friend because you ensure that they don't mess it all up when you're directly cooperating with them. Did we need this perk? No. Would I be opposed to them changing it? No. I just prefer running this instead of having someone run technician.
My one friend will play like once every few months... so yeah.
-
Hmmm, I think there are elements of this that can be used to buff the perk, but it's the type of situation where you have to choose between the two options. Either make it global and have it not turn good skill checks to great skill checks or Keep it with cooperative actions only and have goods turn to greats.
The problem I see with having both of these changes is that this perk synergies really well with stake out. You pretty much can get a guaranteed infinite amount of tokens where everyone on the map is both protected from failing a skill check and guaranteed the bonus for hitting a good skill check. Although this isn't a significant bonus, for healing, hitting the great on the skill check can actually add up to a lot of time saved and pressure on the killer.
You also have a weird situation going on when multiple people are running it in a lobby.
I want corrective action to work when someone else is healing you. I've had times where the person healing me misses the skill check and I wish that corrective action would work in that scenario.
It's a training wheels perk for your newbie friends, so I don't really see a need to buff it if the only purpose of this perk is that. It's a better version of technician really.

and blast mine works as well.
There's a couple of them that state stun with pallet, and these make my head want to explode. I literally will get a demo who wants to shred from across the map or a newer bubba who loves taking a pallet to the face, but as soon as I equip stun killer 3 times with pallet, I'll get every range killer in the game.

Everyone hates the Artist and that makes me sad. As an artist main, I am in the minority of people who actually enjoy playing her and get satisfaction out of bird sniping. I really liked the Artist and found her power fun to use and a strong killer.
Sadako was a flop in regard to her strength. She was cool in design and animations, but her actual gameplay has disappointed a lot of people to the point where no one is scared of her when they go against one (if you ever go against one).
Cenobite is fun. Very annoying to go against and I heard has a bigger learning curve than he lets on with not much reward. I still see a decent amount of Cenobites in the fog.
Nemesis is a pretty good killer as well. I think he also fell below people's expectations, but he isn't a terrible killer. Has a pretty decent power (when it works) and you can get some crazy games with him. His zombies aren't the best at times, but they aren't completely worthless 100% of the time.

Agreed!
I had a sad, pitiful laugh (I was on the hook so I saw what happened) and then turned the game off after it was over lol
Yeah, this feeling really hits home. I play soloq survivor mostly and I can tell when I have good teammates, but when I witness the smallest mistake (a mistake that I totally understand happening) cost the game it just feels bad, and not even in a rage/angry way. It literally just feels like watching a balloon deflate and fly around the room.
The other night I was playing a game against a trapper and I witnessed him set up a trap at the exit gate, so I was going to disarm it and open the gate when he was occupied in chase, but nope. I got vacuumed into the trap because instead of holding m1 to disarm, i hit m1 to open gate... I died because of that. Just a moment where it's like, feels bad man.
It happens to me as killer sometimes too, auto aim focusses on the hooked survivor instead of the unhooker or i get grabbed cancelled with neither the grab nor the hit. Literally have had this happen where they finished the gen because of that or got the unhook and escape. Big sad.
-
Yeah, sadly that happens a lot. I've made mistakes that have literally cost the game and I've had teammates who made one small misjudgment that cost the game. I at least try to learn from my mistakes when a blunder is made, but sometimes mistakes are out of your control as well (i.e. rubberbanding).
Best to take a breather and not feel too bad and move on hoping for the better in the future. Rage quit is also an option for some. Salt in the endgame chat is frowned upon:)

There's not many ways to counter a good nurse, but the first step would first be analyzing how they play. You first need to determine if this is a nurse main, a casual nurse player, or someone doing their dailies.
A nurse main, you kind of are screwed on most maps. There's not much you can do to have an extended chase, 20 seconds and you're doing pretty good. On maps that have a lot of LOS blockers, you want to play unpredictable and don't wait at the corners in some scenarios because a good nurse will predict this from a good survivor.
A casual nurse player, you need to see how they play. Do they always predict a double back? Do they always come a little short on the second blink because they aren't as keen to the timing? Where do they blink/When do they blink? This can help you determine whether you should stay at a tile and play the tile or hold W and keep running to get to a building or a better structure. Using double backs are usually more viable against this type of nurse and can greatly extend the chase if you can get out of a dead zone by doing this.
A dailies nurse will usually mess up blinks and not know the timings as much, so this is when you can play more relaxed. Usually getting distance is better than double backs because sometimes the double back will cause you to get hit. You can pull more shenanigans with tricking to get them to blink into basement or blink to the wrong floor if you are on a map with multiple floors or building structures with multiple floors. You can also try to force them to blink in place because they tried to blink on top of you (at pallets for example).
Ultimately, if the nurse is really good. Any time you can buy is great. If she has her recharge or range add-ons, well, at least you can hop in the queue for next game quickly. Very hard to play against nurse, but it isn't impossible.

would that make a difference though?? I give up on this MMR system
Although I may have some games that just feel impossible because of how my teammates are playing, generally, my games are much better than what they were a year ago. Although, there were many changes that happened between the change of rank to mmr system, generally I feel less frustration with my teammates than I did when I would get stuck in purple/green rank hell. I would get banished to suffer in mid-purple rank where my teammates would be either purple or greens with killers anywhere between green to red. It was much more painful than where I sit now with mmr. Most of my games last night were relatively chill, but again after a year of playing I have also became much better at looping and running tiles. It might not help a lot, but at least in my experience I'm not getting potato survivors every game, so that's why I think it could be just what mmr is matching you with.
-
Haha... good to know about this vault location. I can definitely see myself pressing space too early during chase and getting sucked into the locker. I've already done this before on Groaning Storehouse and the Game. The Game one was super painful because that chase would have gone on for a long time if I didn't make that mistake.
-
In this situation, it would make sense to defend the two hooks. Even if two more gens pop, if he guarantees the 2k, then it would probably result in a 4k or at least a 3k. It's not the easiest thing to defend gens on RPD, giving two free unhooks wouldn't make sense if they didn't know how far the other 2 survivors were.
In general, the only time camping doesn't make sense to me is when its the first down at 5 gens. Unless they want the 1k, with possible 2k with NOED, or the maybe snowball with survivors storming the hook, it's just not a viable strat to get better at the game. Securing the second stage though is a different story, if survivors don't rescue right away and I can see that I can return to the hook and punish that, then I will.
-
I don't think Dredge will fall into the abyss, but I can see how this could be a buff for it and make it a little smoother to play as it. Not sure if it's necessary because at double lockers you can just destroy both and the lockers are fine for the rest of the match, but it would make teleports smoother and save some m1. It would depend on how strong the Dredge is, and I think at this point, they are sitting in a good spot.
-
Find a swf to raise your mmr a bit. If you keep having potato teammates, then it seems like you just need a small boost in the mmr bracket to get somewhat competent teams. I usually play soloq and some games I might get questionable teammates, but most of my games seem okay.

I'm already doing that, my rank is still at Ash and I'm still losing terribly every single match if you check out the match results.
Without further gameplay and knowing how you are using the killer, there really isn't much advise anyone can give to help you with the adept. Once I stopped getting the garden of Joy map as the Dredge, I got merciless killer and then was robbed from adept from the bug. Tried a second time and got it the game after. I did this on the day the Dredge came out so I was still in IRI ranks. The dredge isn't a weak killer, so it's probably something to do with how you are playing.

So, based on how many perks you unlocked on a character, they will then be auto adjusted to an equivalent prestige level (in theory). The only thing you would be missing would be the reward for P3 characters that will come with the prestige update. The reward isn't cosmetic in nature so if the reward isn't important to you, I would just say continue getting all the perks on everyone because the new system will let you keep everything when prestiging.
My advice is to stock up on flan with everyone (especially your favorite characters).

Hate to break it to you but brand new part doesn't even work 😬
Lol, I was just going to tell them that although the gens may seem like they flew from the bnp, they're actually bugged and do nothing. It seems more a time management problem and maybe they also got unlucky with where people spawned.

As killer, you can press A and D while carrying a survivor so you don't wiggle back and forth as much. You kind of counteract the side by side by hitting the A and D while holding W. Do you do this when you carry survivors? If you don't, this is probably what's happening.

Either the killer is so good that we never had a chance or no-one does gens, hook rescues or knows how to run the killer for more than 20 seconds.
Hmmm, seems like you are just in an mmr hell of not ever getting good enough teammates to raise your mmr. I would really recommend finding a SWF to just trying and raise your mmr a bit so that you can get decent enough soloq. Even finding one other person to play with who has decent skill could help your success in escaping.
Btw, I have almost 1400 hrs in the game so in theory we should get similar matches. That's why I was wondering your playtime. It seems like you are either stuck in getting bad matches because of the mmr rut or it could be your region/time you are queueing. Most likely just mmr things.

1.1k hours out of which most id solo q. I usually run Adrenaline, Wake up, BT and IW but I switch things up on a regular basis.
Hmmmm, strange. With that many hours I would think you would have competent enough teammates that you would escape more often then you do. I would say my games generally are pretty 50/50 in my escape or death, maybe a little more death because I enjoy playing altruistically (could have escaped if I wanted to). What's usually the downfall in your games?
