So YOU would recommend to tunnel? Interesting...

On a more serious note, that perk needs a complete removal. It singlehanded promotes the 2 things survivors hate the most: tunneling and camping.

It's acceptable if you are running DL/RM (which I've stated many times before BTW). You have a completely legit reason for it because it's one of your perks. If you do it all the time, whether you have these perks or not, or whether you are winning or not, then it's just toxic behavior.

While I agree with you about survivors hating it, it is the obsession. If it's a really good obsession they won't get caught and they will all escape. But, it's the only perk in the game you can really use to punish a bad obsession. I usually play that if I catch the obsession and they don't DS me, then I won't camp them and let the team save, but I will still tunnel them if I NEED to. That's the thing with this perk and camping/tunneling. If you are winning, you have reason to not camp/tunnel because you aren't pressured to lock the game at that point. It's only once the game gets to a certain point, when like 2 gens are left, that you want to really make sure the guy is dead. Obviously you want to catch him once either before Ruin goes down or before 2 gens get done. But if you catch him before that point you can choose to let the game play out and chase other survivors (which you want to to anyway, because if you just camp the guy right away they others will rush gens). As long as you bring a mori and get that first obsession's hook quickly, you shouldn't force survivors to rush the game.

I understand your logic. But this perk (and the corresponding play style) will only net you toxic comments. Doesn´t matter if you only tunnel and camp the obsession. Yes, it can get the job done, IF you have a bad obsession. But most good loopers equip DS anyway. So they know how to keep you busy.
So it´s either a easy match, where you can use DL to its full extend and the survivors will report you for it (not a problem on PC, but on Xbox). Or you get a hard match and the perk won´t do anything.

I would recommend this only to experienced killers which know the consequences. Never recommend this to a new player. Since it could result in really toxic responses.

But go ahead and use a software that isn't allowed and get that ban, I'm sure you'll feel so much better having to use that. Instead of doing the same as @Master and dodging on his own if he wants. It gets tiring after the 5th time of checking the profiles and then leaving. If i did not want to throw 40€ worth of content i would use MLGA. But not this new application. who knows what viruses and similar it has. You dont need to check profiles, I dont do that anymore. Just dodge the lobby if too many survivors join at the same time, sure it might hurt some solo guys if they are unlucky and join at the same time, but as long as devs refuse to highlight SWF players, thats not my fault

Why should they? They said they want the game centered around that type of play, I totally can’t wait for them to implement  punishments for lobby dodging good ping. Killers will sit here and complain about veteran survivor players going against noobs but will lobby dodge and cherry pick a lobby with no items, no prestige, and nobody at all joining together. It’s really a load of garbage that if I put on prestige clothing with a flashlight I might as well not even look for a game unless I last second switch and then they’re gonna dc anyways. Anyone who’s good at this game doesn’t need to dodge anyone and it’s laughable people still make excuses after the devs already stated this is the way they want it. So anyone who is good at being Ebullied will play with you? . Nice try but we are adults and we undestand the common social pressure tactics. So get dodged more. Its for the best.

So adults cry about playing with a group and dodge because they can’t beat who’s in front of them? Even when the developers want it played that way and said it on a live stream recently I guess to you that’s still a problem

Devs want the survivors to bully the killers?

That´s a bold statement to say the least.

No they want the game centered around SWF team style play and you know that’s what I meant and anyone who watches the streams know

The devs gave in to survivors lobby dodging, so they could play with their friends. Thus creating SWF.

They created a monster and don´t know how to balance it. SWF makes it incredible easy to coordinate around the killer and effectivly bully him.

Now over 70% of all matches contain SWF (probably way more, since they haven´t released any new data).

Devs struggle to balance the game around SWF. So they started to give all survivors more information. Like those icons that tell you that NOED is active. Or Huntress Lullaby. Those things were meant to give solo survivors the same information as SWF teams. But in doing so, they made the game way easier for survivors. Since you don´t need to pay attention anymore. You just look at what warning icons are active and play accordingly. This was a huge mistake.

Now they want to give all survivors inbuild Kindred. This will be a huge thing. Since solo survivors will not only be as coordinated as SWF, but SWF will also have a better control about who is closest to unhook. It will result it gen rushs. Since survivors won´t leave the gen to check the hook.

SWF has been OP since forever. Now giving all survivors the power of SWF won´t exactly make the life of killers easier. Only the life of survivors. Which hasn´t been exactly hard to begin with.

This game is tagged as a HORROR game, but it has more in common with the NASCAR simulator than with a Horror game or movie.

I agree with most of what you said, my point is that the devs have now geared towards THIS direction and that’s what they’ve announced live to everyone, I’m just saying if or when they do get dedicated servers I can’t wait for them to implement time bans on lobby dodgers, people on here are condoning it and  it happens to me high ranked solo playing all the time because they assume swf and don’t know for sure so I end up waiting forever for a match at times only to start right over , if this is part of the game and the direction they are going in , then lobby dodging a good ping shouldn’t be an option and I’ve played solo majority of my time anyway it feels more real like it’s intended in my personal preference , my problem is I feel like I do worse in swf because I’m overly altruistic in situations I should go away in, like camping for example, if you get a good killer who decides to hard camp because bbq didn’t light up if you were for some reason just already in the area when the hook happens , the best option is to do gens , but if I’m with my friends I’m having fun and I run borrowed time and we’ll make it together anyway so I’ll go for it and laugh if I go down, I’m not gonna  let it ruin my day because I made a bad choice, I’m here to have fun win or lose.

You missed the irony that SWF only exists because survivors lobby dodged until they got into the same lobby as their friends and now they want killers to be temp banned, because they lobby dodge to prevent exactly that from happening.

Killers wouldn´t be able to lobby dodge, because they risk a temp ban. They also wouldn´t be able to leave the match when survivors take the game hostage, because they also risk a temp ban. This would result in a terrible spot for killers.

Yeah, that might work vs rank 18 survivors. But Dying Light is useless on high ranks. By the time you killed the obsession, 4 gens are done. DS users on high ranks usually know how to loop.

Also the slowdown is to small. Even IF you manage to kill the obsession early.

If you combo it with Ruin you can get your obsession before gens are done. I think it comes down to how hard you tunnel. If you chase them REALLY hard and never relent then the others just rush gens. If you chase them until you get a hit at least, then break the chase if it goes on too long and go for someone else you can do it, baits the obsession to move away from loops. As long as Ruin doesn't go down instantly, you have time to catch the obsession. You want to proc DL at something like 2 gens anyway, because now even if they split the map you can still win. If they don't, it's pretty much GG for them. Your goal shouldn't be to catch the guy at 5 gens, because it gives it away you have DL.

And adding 26 seconds to a get or 6 seconds to a heal is not small. You force them to team up on gens, so now they are easier to find because they will all be together. As long as you kick gens, and watch any that are like >50% for a little bit until they go down, you can keep the game going as long as you like.

So YOU would recommend to tunnel? Interesting...

Typical survivor behavior once 2 gens are done and 2 survivors are dead: search the hatch and hope the other guy gets found first.

Applying your logic, the survivors would only lose out on some points if the hatch was removed.

No, removing the hatch would mean there would be literally no reason for the last 2 survivors to continue playing the match if there are 2 or more gens left. All removing the hatch would do is increase DCs.

The rest of your comment isn't worth responding to.

Why is the rest of my comment not worth responding to? I can´t even count how often i got this exact message after a survivor escaped through. Or even more insulting ones. Since the hatch requires so much skill.

There is no mechanic that punishes the last survivor on the map by closing all exits. Why is that so? If the killer is bad, all escape and they drool about how easy it was. If the killer is good, 1 is given a free undeserved escape and he drools about how easy it was.

I´ve been playing survivor only for over a month. No SWF, just solo. But people still call me out, because i want a balanced game. Not this braindead easy gameplay we have right now as survivors.

  • Repairing gens is boring af. Increasing the time will not solve the gen rush problem, but would create a new problem: survivors using specific builds to run the killer around the map. Since repairing is boring and unrewarding.
What we need are additional objectives like gas cans, parts to repair, additional locks on the gates, etc.

    Botany Knowledge

    Dark sense
    Left behind
    This is not happening
    Streetwise
    Wake up
    Deja vu

    Killers
    Beast of prey
    Overwhelming presence
    Thanatophobia
    Iron grasp
    Monstrous shrine
    Unrelenting
    Fire up
    Hangman's trick
    Surveillance

Botany Knowledge, Streetwise, and Wake up are good perks!

    You wrote weak wrong.

All support perks are weak af. They need to give at least a speed bonus of 50%. For example if someone wants to use Botany Knowledge and Prove Thyself to boost his SC healing speed to medkit lvl, then i´m totally ok with that.
Support perks need to be strong.

Pretty sure they don't want you to body block that's why there's a ways to report body blocking because it's abusive to mechanics of the game play look in the report option you'll see it

The official position is that survivors bodyblocking a killer while they are carrying someone to the hook or chasing another survivor is fine, because the killer can hit you to make you move.

Whether you are playing killer or survivor, bodyblocking a survivor into a position they cannot escape and holding them there without recourse is reportable. Since they have no way of forcing you to move, you are holding them hostage.

A killer can bodyblock a survivor for a short time, say long enough for BT to run out or to charge a chainsaw. However, trapping a survivor in the basement and refusing to kill them is reportable. The problemer with this is as the nightmare you cannot hit them when they're blocking you from hooking people that's what I'm talking about

The Nightmare doesn´t need to hit survivors which are body blocking the hook. When they are awake, he can run past them. When they are asleep, he can hit them.

  • You said it yourself. Game just became free on PS plus. Game manual recommends to camp.
Things you can do to avoid getting caught and camped:
    - don't rush to the first gen. Hide and wait 30 to 60 seconds before even touching a gen.
    - don't run all the time. Running leaves scratch marks behind.
    - if the killer camps, go do gens. He won't leave the hook, so you can do your favorite thing.
    - don't call killers campers when they camp after the gates have been powered. There's nothing else to do for him. If you insult him, he might say ######### it. I'll camp from now on. Since I'll get called out anyway.
    - play killer yourself and play exactly as you want other killers to play. Enjoy the fair match and the chat afterwards.

Which might not even be in the game.

But sure lets clutch our pearls before the PTB goes live.

    You are totally right!
Even IF it gets into the PTB, there is no guarantee that it gets implemented.
Like the hatch rework. Which worked well, but survivors didn´t seem to like the idea to finish a gen in order to reopen the hatch.
I have no doubt tho, that the overwhelming majority of the playerbase will like inbuild Kindred. Just 1/5th of the playerbase won´t like it.

New hatch mechanic was garbage tbh. Might as well just remove the hatch and kill the last remaining survivor instantly.

Killers also complained about new hatch mechanic because the last survivor was just sitting in the map while doing nothing. You can't repair a generator while a killer patrols the generators. It is almost impossible.

We need more reasonable solution for both sides.

Bullshit. Of course a solo survivor can repair gens while the killer patrols. Having Left Behind makes it easier. But it´s not impossible.
But i agree on the complete hatch removal. Since it rewards the losing side with a free escape. And even hurts the team once 2 survivors are left. Because both search for the hatch instead of doing gens.

Bullshit? 70-90 seconds for fixing a generator while killer has nothing to do but search for the last survivor is reasonable? Come on you are better than this.

I did 3 gens solo and got caught on the fourth. I had Left Behind equipped. Was THE most intense match i ever had.

    Something more reasonable huh?
How about the gen regress stops once there is only 1 survivor left. Kicking would do nothing. Survivor can repair the gen for some seconds, then hide again. This would give Left Behind a huge boost and allow for a different meta. Stealth would be more viable. Instead of loop builds.

But the hatch we have right now? Punishes the killer for doing well.
While there is no such mechanic where the survivors get punished for doing well.

Yeah we can finish the generator so that the killer can basically close the hatch within 2 seconds. Another minute to go only to see the killer closing the hatch once again. It is just like saying that the killer should leave the looper and go and find another survivor just so that he can get looped again. It was broken and I wouldn't close the hatch even if it was implemented. What if the survivor just goes and hides? Spending 30 minutes searching for the last survivor?

    My proposal removes the hatch.
Gen regress stops once there is only 1 survivor left. Kicking would do nothing.
Timer appears for the survivor. Timer has 5 minutes. Timer stops when survivor is being chased, in the terror radius or when he repairs a gen.
After the time runs out, the killer gets a notification every 60 seconds which is similar to the doctors scream. Calm Spirit reduces the distance of the scream.

This gives both sides the oportunity to still win, but doesnt hand out free wins for the losing side.

I am not sure about both sides having the opportunity to still win. If the killer is really bad to not find and catch the last survivor for a gen or 2, he could just go and patrol his 3 gen setup. No way to win for the survivor

Hatch is a good mechanic for both sides. It is just not good where it is now. Killers and survivors should have the option to win. We should not favor one side over the other side and find a reasonable solution. Yours doesn't seem to be one.

    This is getting off topic.

We can continue this somewhere else. With all the pros and cons.

    Back to topic.
Are there no Japanese DbD players around? Someone who knows about Japanese horror stories?
I remember a Japanese ghost in a classroom in cabin in the woods.

Freddy WAS nerfed 1 week after release.

Not exactly relevant though seeing as multiple times the Devs have said that what they did was a mistake and we have also had 2 Killers since Freddy and neither got drastically nerfed. In fact the Clown was buFFed a little before his release. So I think it's clear they aren't dumb enough to make such a stupid move like that again.

Sure, usually are in equal numbers, but this game was designed to be a 1v4 for obvious reasons.

Also, what do you want me to do? I play both solo and swf, and when i do swf is usually with 1 more friend, 4 is quite uncommon. But if i see a friend online i'm not gonna reject their invitation because you feel offended, just grow up.

Game was never designed to be played with your friends.

SWF was only introduced because survivors lobby dodged until they got into the same lobby as their friends.

Well, admit is a bit weird to not be able to play with friends while being in the same team. Pretty sure the company got more money by changing this feature

Of course they got more money and the game got more popular because of it.

BUT it was never designed to play with your friends. Because it was never designed around this, the devs didn´t balance around this. Which explains why SWF are so much more powerful than solo survivors. Now the devs struggle to balance this mess around a game mode that was patchworked into the game, because no one thought it would be a good idea to play with your friends.

Last I checked, it is no longer whitelisted. That doesn't mean that it's banned, but it's now use at your own risk. When it was whitelisted, you were safe to use it, but now it's fallen back into shady territory. I use italics to put emphasis on stuff.

So basically we won't actively hunt you down and ban you for using MLGA. But if EAC starts to detect it and bans you for it, we won't be able to help you.

    @Lowbei said:

Is using a 3rd party app that affects the way the game is played, against the rules?

Only if they can detect it.

    Ha, if.

if they could detect a 3rd party app that affects gameplay, it makes no sense that it wouldnt be blacklisted like all other hacks aka 3rd party apps that affect gameplay. so the logical explanation is that they know they cant detect it, and thus ignore it.

It's detectable. The issue isn't detection. The whole reason why it was originally whitelisted was because it added features that people wanted, and it wasn't too intrusive. At some point more features were added that got into shady territory (stuff developers wouldn't want to actively support), so it was removed from the whitelist. It's still not cheating, it's just not something that would get a seal of approval.

ok so from your post i got the following statements:

    bhvr can detect mlga.

it was whitelisted because it added the ping checker in the lobby, despite bhvr currently working on a ping checker of their own. a baffling decision.

mlga then added something considered “shady”, but instead of blacklisting this 3rd party “shady” app that affects gameplay, we simply moved it into the grey area.

“its still not cheating” despite the fact that any other “shady” 3rd party app that affects gameplay is considered cheating, and EAC is set up to catch them.

Its pretty obvious that EAC cannot detect MLGA, and its current grey area is due to there being nothing they can do about it.
Couldn't have said it any better.
Any news on the devs position on that new program that detects SWF?
  • I don't check profiles or use MLGA or anything like that.

I think this new program is risky. Yeah it's giving survivors something of their own medicine back. But it can horribly backfire. We don't need a app to prove that the devs are survivor sided. That has already been proven several times.
But when survivors start to have problems finding a lobby, because 70% of all matches contain SWF, then the devs will be forced to do something. This could result in something drastic as the long called temp ban for dodging. Which would possibly cause a lot of players to leave.

    I'm split on this one.
Survivor mains have a really short memory. They got their SWF mode by lobby dodging. But call now for a temp ban for every killer who dodges them. Survivors dodging is ok tho...

"Just break the pallet" is a meme.

Yeah, the game is terribly balanced towards survivors. They are the majority of the player base. So they get the most attention. Killers get a bone from now and then.

Best you can do is to break the chase, ignore the problematic survivors and try to go for the weak link. Don't show mercy. If they bully you, return the favor by playing as dirty as you can.

High rank survivors like to bully noob killers.

This game is extremely addicting. Most veterans have spent over thousand hours.
But it can also be extremely frustrating.
There are situations which you can't win. No matter how experienced or good you are. Looping is one of those situations. Just break the chase if you can't down a survivor in the first 2 minutes and ignore that survivor for the best part of what's left of that match.
Don't take teabagging and insults personal.

If you play both killer and survivor you'll learn a lot from both roles to use it to escape as survivor and to kill more efficient.

    I wish you good luck.
Have fun with this unique game.

I agree with most of what you said with a few exceptions. The lower you go the more toxic and better are the players but the experience is worth as much as the perks. If you learn what loops you can't break, or when to break off chase, manage your time, and learn to anticipate where the survivor is going so you can cutoff and intercept that experience is highly valuable and will make you more efficient. In the low ranks you don't see as much of that.

Situations you can't "win". Depends on how you define that. If you face 4swf, 4ds and two with Alex's toolbox clearing a whole area as a safe hook zone, if you kill 2 that to me is a win.

I'm talking about motivation. If he ranks up to fast and encounters SWF deathsquads, he'll probably abandon the game for good. And who could blame him? Those situations are not fun at all. He needs to stay on low ranks and get some perks. Build up experience. If you throw him into the shark tank, it's gonna get ugly.

I ranked up to fast and regretted it.
    But to each his own.

Most of the survivors (including myself) haven´t noticed the nerf. Since it only affects a really tiny part of the survivor community.

I'd say it affects more than a really tiny part of the Survivor community, considering what the next patch is supposed to contain.

I disagree with most of what is suggested here. If I could pick one and only one buff for Freddy, it would be enhancing his vision. He's practically unable to see beyond 15-20 meters, and if survs got the funny idea to thicken the Mist, he is pretty much completely effin blind.
He's never gonna be a top tier killer nor do I think he should be, but he offers a very unique game style, much different from other killers. I relish the diversity of DbD; it would be nice to make him at least somewhat viable.

EDIT: I just found a suggestion which would be sweet too: INCREASE skill check success zones greatly (an effect possibly modifiable with addons). That would be a necessary but not unbalancing change - survivors would still have a chance to wake up on their own, but not "for free".

What would increased skill check success zones change? Survivors spam space in order to wake up.

Yeah, I know, but I can still hope they may see the thread and consider it. Not only is averaging out the levels like that not fair to newbies, but it's also not fair to higher ranks, too. A rank 1 shouldn't get into a match with a lower rank because their friends with a lower rank. A survivor shouldn't be able to get an easy path to rank 1 because they're playing with newbie friends and getting a killer that is easier for them to face.

I think it would be fair to have the killer's rank match the highest rank if someone is within a swf.

SWF is unbalanced in every regard. Devs try to balance it by making solo survivors as powerful as SWF teams.
You can hope that they eventually change the matchmaking parameters. But i wouldn´t be to optimistic about it.

Because on rank 1, there's a high possibility that every survivor in a match knows how to loop you. You break chase, find someone else and reboot the loop with someone else.
