I think Beast of Prey should permanently remove the red stain.
That would make this useless perk finally useful. -

I know people abuse the system and that sucks, they ruin it for everybody. However I'm just gonna sum up my opinion and call it quits after I post my opinion.
My Opinion:
If you DC intentionally then you should absolutely 100% be punished, no doubts about that. However if you DC unintentionally, the punishment should be less severe than the punishment for intentionally DC'ing. If BHVR can program a system that can differentiate a unintentional DC from a intentional DC, that would be great.
Keep in mind that I almost never DC (well maybe once but I was playing killer and survivors were making me upset, just needed a break from DbD).
There is no way to identify an intentional DC. I can just pull the plug of my internet cable. The game will think my lights went out. Or something like that.
An occasional DC shouldn´t be a problem. But having a long list of DCs? -

Face camping does not exist anymore. Face camping was the killer standing in front of the survivor and blocking the "press m1 to unhook" prompt. This has been removed with the introduction of swivel hooks.
You can now unhook from any angle.
Is it wise to unhook in front of a Leatherface who has his chainsaw reffed? Nope, but you are free to do so, if you wish to.Yes, and even if you are trying to grab that survivor from any angle that is rescuing, you are still vulnerable to body blocks. So what are the survivors so pissed about if they got opportunities that can outplay the killer. Many survivors are so spoiled, according to complain about the least necessary things that occur within the game.
I can understand the frustration a survivor feels, when he´s hooked and no one comes to rescue him, because the killer stands in front of the hook. But this is how the game was designed from the beginning. Best thing the survivor can do is either struggle as long as possible to give his team the time to finish the gens or die as quickly as possible to find a new match, when the team doesn´t do gens.

@Eveline said:
What if im still new to the game and have trouble locating even generators not to mention a hatch.
I bet its frustrating and I too as a survivor feel bad for it but I never prolong the game intentionally. I am just trying to be stealthy and escape. I don't want to be found if I'm the last survivor alive because chances are higher for me to die.

I've had games where I had no clue where the exit gates were, so I just wandered aimlessly. And others where I did know, but I was moving so carefully so I wouldn't be found.Just saying, like Eveline said, they may not be doing it intentionally. Sure, there are trolls who would do that, but sometimes they may just be lost.
It´s not about taking 3-4 minutes to find the gates, but to actively hide from the killer for 20, 30 or even 60 minutes. You are save, there is no problem with you taking a little longer.

No, you do things that don't allow them to use the flashlights. You pick up facing away from them or face a wall. You bait pick ups. You slug, et al.
well yeah with the new update since all the killers whined about flashlight saves being op they made it to where you have to start blinding at 1 sec instead of 2 so you have to be right next to the killer when he pick up to flashlight save
It was easy to counter flashlights before the updated pick up animation. People just thought it was easier to moan instead of getting better and doing something different.

Thats the survivors way of life. Why git gud when you can instead complain, project power, review bomb and get what you want anyway without any practising
I'm saying it was easy for killers to avoid flashlights before the new animation, now you have to be utterly brain dead, new, or have made a severe mistake to get blinded and drop a survivor. It was easy to avoid, now it's easier.
It wasn´t exactly easy before the new animation. Depending on the perks the killer used, a survivor could even blind a killer who would face the wall.
Now it´s harder for survivors to blind the killer during the pickup, but its not impossible. I´ve done it several times without problems. -

In fact everybody can actually DC on purpose, so it doesnt help to only punish the Esc-way of leaving
The thing is that it's not my problem tho, it's BHVR's problem and they need to fix it. Who knows how long BHVR will take to fix that glitch anyways, days, months, or even years! The glitch is random and there's literally NOTHING in my power that I can do to stop the glitch, trust me if I could stop it, I would. One time there was 4 party streamers on the offering wall and guess what, it glitches me out, I was so upset but what could I have done different to stop that? Frrl tho, Overwatch didn't punish me for leaving because it couldn't load my competitive game and decided kicked me out. That only happens once every six months for me but should I stop playing Overwatch because of that, absolutely not, a game is gonna have glitches regardless.
Any punishment system shouldn't punish people for something that they absolutely couldn't help. I know you can't tell the difference between a intentional DC and a accidental DC but the game should be able to tell if it crashed, thus not punishing the player. Period. You can punish me for anything else but not if it's the games fault for the DC or at least give me a free pass!
I know you only have good intentions. But people abuse the system whenever they can. There needs to be a punishment. Because you hare hurting your team (or the other team) every time you dc. Even if it´s unintentional.

It depends. If the other survivor is a troll who unhooks others in front of the killer without BT, then i let him die, even if it´s his first hook.
But if it´s a teamplayer who saved others with a flashlight or pallet? I´m gonna die trying to save him. -

Master said:Yes thats the case for any other competitive game too. Take any moba, dota, lol or whatever or take a shooter like counterstrike or rainbow six or a "casual" competitive game like rocket leauge.
If your game crashes or sth like that you will have to wait the 5 minutes to queue again. The punishments only become a problem if you DC frequently, but in this case you shouldnt be playing a competitive mulitplayer game anyway.
And no, pulling the plug has to be punished the same of course.
Something makes me think that you just wanna keep your "exit strategy" because waiting 5 minutes after a crash shouldnt be a big deal at all. You even need a few minutes before you get into the game again, then maybe spend 2 minutes on the forum and create a thread "this trash game crashes all the time"
The fact that in a COMPETITIVE RANKED multiplayer game, you can simply esc-leave or pull the plub without ANY punishment is just ridiculous. Of course it will be abused and we see the result currently ingame. And im not gonna lie, I started DCing too because why not? A non-obsession DS in a SWF? Nah,, im not gonna bother, why should I? Just DC like everyone else..... another nurse? nah cant loop...: DC
thrid time swamp in a row? Nah thanks......
thats what the game has become. Sometimes you spend more time in queue than actually playing the game
Actually I disagree with how aggressive your DC punishment is, no offense because if the game keeps DC'ing me due a DC glitch eventually my DC punishment will around an hour. Again, would you like to get blamed for something that you didn't do @Master? Not even Overwatch's system is that aggressive, yes one time Overwatch glitched on me (Infinite loading screen bug) and it didn't punish me during competitive because it's system knows that it wasn't my fault at all. It's okay tho, we won't always agree and that's completely fine!
I agree with @Master
There needs to be a severe punishment for disconnecters. One thing is a problem with the internet or the lights go off. In both cases, those 5 minutes won´t harm you, since you wont be able to play anyway. There also needs to be a escalation when people continue to disconnect.
Just had a match as Freddy. After my first 2 hooks, i downed 1 in the cornfield. 1 with a purple flashlight was ready to ambush me to blind me. But i hunt him down instead. When i was about to hook him, he and his 2 friends disconnected. Leaving 1 survivor behind who didn´t know what happend. That´s really something that needs a punishment. Escalate the punishment automatically if the whole SWF team disconnects.

Yeah, I'm sure these brand new Survivors THAT HAVE NEVER PLAYED THE GAME BEFORE at Rank 20 are running Killers in circles.
Camping at that Rank is a surefire way to turn off new players.
Well as a rank 18 killer you can easily verse a SWF consisting of 3 rank 1s and a single rank 20. Now try to argue taht you wont be looped in that game

I wonder how a "baby killer" will react after such a game. He will be like "#########, I need to get better" proceeds to google and finds out that the only way how to get better is by playing nurse or tunnel/camp.
I remember a free weekend were tons of rank 1 swf groups tried to bully noob killers.

Not sure whether that is really the case, but it seems to reset the timer if you try again before the countdown was over. For me this means that I am unable to use the forum anymore, Im not gonna bother waiting for several mins just to post a comment.
Maybe thats better though, DBD forums tend to end in ranting anyway. Even if there are solid suggestions, they will be ignored anyway

Not really. I had no moderating experience prior to getting hired. I was just a normal player that's been playing since beta, and was active in the community, both on Twitch and on the Steam forums.
All the mods that were chosen were people who just loved the game and wanted to help out in the community. Having experience is definitely a huge plus though.
This is true and most places actually get people who're involved in the community to be volunteer mods. The ones they hire like @not_Queen are given much more power and responsibility.

Wow, I created this thread because I was surprised to see Sony encouraging a strategy that breeds toxicity (not patrolling a hook, litterally camping it). I'm aware that the strategy is "legit" and the devs condone it, but it doesn't make it any less unsportsmanlike, and survivors witnessing this behavior time and time again are sure to employ equally toxic strategies in an attempt to counter this. Furthermore it's a boring strategy for both the killer and the hooked survivor. New players reading the blog post will end up thinking that this is how the game should always be played, and will end up walking away from the borefest that is staring at a hook with a struggling survivor.Once again, I'm a killer main, and I pretty much never play survivor. I'm not above admitting that I've used the strategy from time to time, but I much prefer running perks that reward moving away from the hook, as it's a lot more fun, and in my experience a much more effective way of winning games. I don't buy into the "it's not my job to ensure my opponent has fun" attitude many people in this thread seem to share. The way I see it, it's in all of our best interest to ensure that some fun is had on both sides, otherwise we'll end up with a toxic mess of the game, that will be so far from enjoyable, it'll die out.
I doubt that it will die out because of some camping low rank killers. The toxic problem comes more from the videos of Ochido and Noob3.
We already have a toxic mess of a game. But surprisingly it hasn´t hurt the game. So i really don´t see the problem with Sony. Camping has been announced as a feature from the beginning. It´s a design choice. Killers get encouraged to leave the hook by perks like BBQ and MYC. But survivor don´t like those perks for whatever unlogic reason. Devs can only give players the tools. But it´s their choice if they want to play one way or another. The borefest takes maximum 2 minutes (even less if the camped survivor gives up) and then he can search a new game.
And let´s be honest. Killers get called out for camping all the time. Even if they don´t camp. -
Running in circles.

They'd better fix their game not to allow that much toxicity, and put actual anti-bot system on their forums rather than putting bandaids like they do, and relying on "mods" to clean the mess everyday. There is a bot. Bots aren't perfect though. It's a balance between making it too picky and flagging loads of legitimate posts as spam, and not picky enough and letting too many through. You'd be surprised how much the bot catches.
It's mostly just timezones/schedules. We got it covered just fine, I just wake up in the morning and find that I've been pinged a dozen times while I was asleep.

You mean like running in circles?AshleyWB said:Camping is a valid strategy BUT some killers use it as an excuse to play cheaply and dirty to exploit how the game works. It's easy to say it's part of the game and a lot harder to address it as an issue. -
Please tell me you are not one of those people with a "free hugs" cardboard while wearing a facehugger t-shirt.
