The hatch is all about perspective

If the killer kills 3 survivors and the 4th one manages to escape via the hatch after 2 or 3 gens are done, that's still a killer win overall. The survivor team as a whole lost. The escaping survivor still lost, IMO, they just got a consolation prize. Completing 2 or 3 gens is not an accomplishment. That's a poorly played survivor game and managing to snag the hatch doesn't change that.

If the killer gets 3 survivors and the 4th one escapes via the hatch after 4 or 5 gens are completed that's still a killer win. It's an overall survivor team loss but the survivor who escaped can consider it a personal win if they played well. If they didn't contribute much and just got lucky then it's a loss.

What's my point? Complaining about the hatch is dumb. Other than needing a 4k for trophies, all you're missing out on is a handful of BP. You still won the match. If you're upset then you need a perspective change.

On the flip side, if you're the 1 survivor who escaped via the hatch and you think you're a bad ass because you did, then you need to get over yourself. Consider being more humble. It's a much more attractive quality.

  • Typical survivor comment after escaping through the hatch: "gg eeeeezzzz"
Typical survivor behavior once 2 gens are done and 2 survivors are dead: search the hatch and hope the other guy gets found first.

Applying your logic, the survivors would only lose out on some points if the hatch was removed.

  • Why doesn't your logic work in reverse? Why doesn't the killer get a free kill the second 3 survivors escape? The killer would still technically lose and the survivor's win and fair is fair, right?

That doesn't even make sense. The 4 survivors are 4 seperate people, first of all. So taking an escape away from one survivor is not the same as a killer missing out on one kill. Second, the hatch escape is not free. Easy? Sure, it can be. But there are things the killer can do to prevent one. Like slugging. Please explain to me how your reverse scenario would even work.

Man you guys are so thirsty. You two literally sit on this board waiting to pounce at anything that can be even remotely construed as pro survivor.

No, removing the hatch would mean there would be literally no reason for the last 2 survivors to continue playing the match if there are 2 or more gens left. All removing the hatch would do is increase DCs.

The rest of your comment isn't worth responding to.

  • I think a fair change to the hatch would be once it spawns in the killer gets to mori the survivor micheal Myers tombstone style. Would put an end to hatch standoff’s pretty quick XD. (This is a joke btw)

What a shock, you are saying absolutely nothing of substance because you can't construct a legitimate argument.

Why is the rest of my comment not worth responding to? I can´t even count how often i got this exact message after a survivor escaped through. Or even more insulting ones. Since the hatch requires so much skill.

There is no mechanic that punishes the last survivor on the map by closing all exits. Why is that so? If the killer is bad, all escape and they drool about how easy it was. If the killer is good, 1 is given a free undeserved escape and he drools about how easy it was.

I´ve been playing survivor only for over a month. No SWF, just solo. But people still call me out, because i want a balanced game. Not this braindead easy gameplay we have right now as survivors.

  • It's not worth responding to because it's just bait. I even said in my original post that survivors who think they're good because they escape via the hatch need to get over themselves. But that doesn't really have anything to do with your second point. Only against a god awful killer would 2 survivors be able to complete 3 gens and escape. Waiting for the hatch in that scenario is as legitimate a strategy as slugging or camping.

  • If part of this game is stealth, aka "you can't get camped or tunneled if you don't get caught," then you can't fault survivors for playing hide and seek when working on a gen is only going to get you found because the killer has nothing to do now but patrol gens.
  • The solution to the hatch standoff is to remove the ability to grab, but let the killer close it, forcing survivors to do a 5 second interuptable animation to open it again. Starting to open it could give the killer a notification, or not.

This makes it a race to find it first, the one that finds it first wins.
