The point isn't 50 million, we knew they'd hit that, but 2 million active logins a day that completely shuts down all the game is dying posts. If true of course.

There's something...a bit sus about that article, looking a bit deeper.

None of the bigger gaming sites are reporting on it, and the handful that are, are all obscure clickbait/tagfarm sites and most have the exact same article copy+pasted verbatim, or very slight variations on it.

What is interesting is that some sites parse this as 'up to 2 million', which implies that this was the absolute peak not an every day occurrence.

Without seeing the alleged email, there's no way to tell what's going on here.

I've been seeing a ton of posts about nurse recently and most of the comments are saying how the god tier nurse players are unbeatable.

For starters I believe that basic kit nurse is balanced. So nurse without add-ons. Now I will explain the counter play.

You do not loop nurse like a normal killer. You use line of sight blockers and unpredictable movement.

LOS blockers requires the nurse to make a guess which if they guess wrong they will lose distance on the survivor.

Unpredictable movement is simply not being predictable with your movement. Like pretending to double back then later on actually doubling back. Strange movement will throw off nurse players since they will be trying to predict you.

Now I know someone is going to comment but that doesn't work on a god tier nurse. If you watch gameplay of the best nurse players there are times when they have to abandon a chase with a survivor.

    Nurse is an odd killer.

    *In theory*, she's nearly unbeatable.

In reality, unless she's bringing her craziest addons, she's...streaky.

Just laid down in bed and read this article. Seems legit.

I...hate to tell you this, but that number isn't really indicative of the health of the game.

All that '50 million' means is that, at some point in time, 50 million (and that number sounds...prima facie absurd, but let's assume it's correct) people gave the game a try.

It doesn't speak to how many stuck around.

I agree with everything you said with the exception of:

When the stars align and TVs spawn in useful spots, they are an okay chase/traversal tool.

When they work, which is usually, TV's are some of the best map traversal tools in the game. They're the whole reason I wouldn't say she is weak, combined with my few experiences with and without CoH.

CoH might seem like it hurts her a lot, but in my experience, her TV's allow her to teleport right next to the Boon, wasting almost no time snuffing it.

I do, however, agree with giving her a few buffs, like the ones I posted a while ago:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/313585/a-few-buffs-the-onryo-could-receive-to-feel-more-threatening

It would be a decent traversal tool - but I disagree on 'usually'. The spawn RNG on these things can be silly.

    My last 3 games:

RPD. Several useless TVs in the very corners of the map, the gen they correspond to was inaccessible from their location. Most of the TVs were clustered around one side.

Mother's Dwelling. 4 TVs clustered around the tall wooden structure, 3 basically naked and one right on top. Survivors could clearly see me emerging and I was miles from gens.

Grim Pantry. A mess. TVs in the corner of the map or in amongst clutter, facing into walls. Almost no TVs in the places I would need them.

  • @Sakurra said:

Because killers in precious matches camp standing there because they want a grab instead of hit. Because they tunnel to death. Because they swing before hitting DS hoping you will miss DS. Do you want more reasons?

Back when I was newer, I did those things a lot.

I haven't camped or tunneled anyone in ages.

I haven't noticed survivors being any more gracious.

  • @Lawlichan said:

maybe it's there to stop you from farming afk players? probably that's the reason why but what it ends up doing is making weird situations where I sacrificed 1 survivor and the other 3 are fully stalked and I can't get my tier 3

It's a very old and honestly outdated mechanic. That said, as others have pointed out:

    @Crowman said:

Well the cap kind of needs to exist, because of addons like Tuft the Fur and Tomestone Piece.

Right now Judith's + Tuft is balanced around the fact you need to fully stalk 3 survivors and Tomestone Piece at least requires you to stalk 2 different survivors to pop T3 to get the instant kill.

Myers is just a mess. His basekit is terribly outdated, but he has a handful of addons that are among the most busted in the game and infinite stalk juice would make them even worse.

Ah yes, I suppose I am a snowflake for literally throwing up at the sight of a spider. How dare I not wish to projectile vomit whenever I face this killer. What a snowflake.

    I sympathize.

However, a lot of people have phobias. Of all sorts of things.

This does not mean that media needs to conform to account for every possible phobia, hell - even every common phobia. Because that would be absurd - especially considering that hemophobia is more common than the spider spookies. And yes, I realize that I'm behind the 8-ball here because we've already started down this very silly road.

As an aside: have you considered seeing someone about it? There are some very effective therapies for people with phobias that severe (the only person I've ever encountered with arachnophobia to the point where they would literally vomit when encountering a spider was essentially unable to conduct their life properly, as any spaces they couldn't see would be a maddening source of fear for them and anything that even looked like a spider had them scrambling into a different room).

Since Monday I've only seen 2 and that was 1 each day I haven't seen any today yet. She's fun to playbas and against so I thought she would still be around.

As everyone has already made the obvious joke - she's just a bad killer, and as the novelty wears off people have just gone back to better killers.

If she gets the pretty hefty buff she needs, then I predict you'll see more of her.

If not, then she's going to be another Twins. Just a 'why did you make this killer this way, did you honestly not want people playing her?' killer.

  • @FlameGNG said:

I know how to play against plague but if my teammates cleanse how am i suppose to play currently I NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER AND I MEAN NEVER CLEANSE against a plague unless its like end game and i cleanse cross map from the exit gates... If my teammates cleanse i cleanse but like how do i loop a killer that can 1 shot i can try ducking but i cant loop for longer than like 20 seconds against a half decent plague with her power (depends on the map aswell)

like honestly i feel like just leaving some matches we get no ingame chat feature or any way to communicate like what do they want me to do? use the "come" emote on my teammate go to a pool of devotion and shake my head??

Plague is a strong killer. I'd reckon her stronger than Artist, topping A tier and almost pushing into S.

If you cleanse constantly, she's going to mow through people. If you don't cleanse and she is halfway decent, she's going to OHK you (she's basically a perma T3 Myers at that point).

The trick is to cleanse cleverly, and to try to avoid getting sick for as long as possible. If you cleanse, make sure to use a pool as far from the current gens and other survivors as possible. Never give her a pool near a hooked person.

Sufficiently tight loops and structures can make it difficult for her to land a puke, and she has a pretty weak early game - try to get a gen done as fast as possible.

    If she snowballs, you're done.

    @indieeden7 said:

Don't cleanse, there is literally 0 reason to ever do so ever since her latest buff. If you do, you're just going to be broken again within the next 30 seconds.

I build specifically in the hopes that people never cleanse. Plaything, Retribution, Pentimento, BBQ (for BP) or Discordance (if I'm leery of the group of survivors I'm facing).

Far too many people do this, and it's almost an easier game than if they had cleansed constantly.

A killer that can move across the map in an instant can't be the worst killer in the game come on now

Unless I missed the patch that let Legion and Trapper teleport to generators

The issue isn't so much getting there, it's what you can do once you get there.

The TV speed boost is...pitiful, and that's assuming the TV spawned next to a gen, not behind a wall, a floor above the gen, facing a duck's backside.

I find the teleport is decent for scouting and every now and then you'll be able to come from a weird angle and get a free hit - but Wraith and Legion get free hits easier.

The core issue is that you have to work for even that hit, and the second hit can be nigh impossible against survivors on a good map. Even Pig has tools to at least attempt to mindgame/force someone off a loop. Sadako has janky phasing that really isn't hard to see through and an equally janky teleport.

I've also had literally one person condemned since her release - people are working out how to handle her now.

  • ...How?

This would be putting her above Pyramid Head, Nemesis, Demo, Cenobite, Bubba, Billy and probably a few others.

I'd reckon that, objectively speaking, she's worse than Wraith.

  • Sadako?

Great visuals, great audio, okay perks, needs a higher camera and some buffs to every aspect of her toolkit.

I was never a gamer until DBD was introduced to me by a family member. Ever since then I have been playing DBD every single day without fail. I love this game. However after playing for countless hours and matches, I am getting real frustrated at the fact the Killers run way faster than Survivors. It's bugging me to the point where I just give up and get sacrificed. I would love it if this issue improves in the future for Survivors because the slim chances of escaping or trying to escape the Killer is downright frustrating! I would hate to leave or reduce my playing time and hours with this game.

I understand - when you first start out, killers seem unbeatable. Once you get a feel for looping, and running away while watching them - you'll realize that survivors have umpteen ways to elude the killer for ages.

  • @CrimsonMothKing said:

I have been playing him since release. I don't think he needs a buff, his playstyle atm is relatively ok, once you get used to the gameplay loop. However, these are changes I would like to see purely because.. it's Nemesis. He is missing some key parts of his character.

    New Ability - Charge;

Let out a roar and begin sprinting.

    • - Roar can be used to call Zombies to location. Roar lasts 2 seconds before charging.
    • - Cannot attack during sprint.
    • - Breaks Undetectable.
    • - Colliding with Breakable Walls and Pallets won't break them.

    Tier I - No Changes

Tier II - Increase Tentacle Strike range by +1 metre.

Tier III - Increase Tentacle Strike Range by +2 metres (Total 8m range). Charge movement speed increased from 150% (6m/s) to 175% (7m/s).

    Eh.

Nemmy is mostly fine. He just needs 2 changes.

    • Some maps (Swamp is the biggie) have inconsistent rules on 'can I hit over this?' objects. This needs to be fixed.
    • Zombies getting stuck against things and freaking out. Zombies should reset if they get stuck without me having to go over and kill them.

I legitimately need help. How do you counter chain hunt?

you can’t do Gens or heal or run and you keep getting interrupted trying to solve the cube to stop it… am I suppose to just put down my controller and walk away? I can’t do anything and I can’t end it… I’ve heard that if you dodge 3 or break 3 chains or something it’s suppose to stop hunting you but it’s never worked for me.

This is the stupidest mechanic in the game

It's actually pretty simple to do, but it's not exactly intuitive.

    • Chains spawn in volleys. The number of chains in each volley is equal to the number of survivors alive and upright (not hooked or slugged) - 1. So if all 4 survivors are alive and up, 3 chains will spawn in each volley.
    • Wait for chains to spawn. Dodge them, keeping that number in mind. Once that number of chains has fired, you've got enough time to solve the box.
    • While dodging the first volley of chains, use this time to put yourself in a safe position on the nearest, best tile you can find.
  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

Imo it must be Trapper. The only killer that can have 0 power all game if you play againts SWF or good Survivors. He also has the most counterplay probably out of any killers. He needs to waste his time to set up traps that might do nothing all game or disarmed easy, they can dead hard it, hug wall even sometimes, etc. Without his strong expensive addons he is easy to bully and even with them he is weak.

    Mechanically? Trapper or Legion.

    'Feel'? Twins or Clown.

  • @Triforcer said:

I think she is weak overall, but she is the first and only killer in the game where you can run all 3 of her base perks and feel reasonably powerful. Barely any other killer has even two non-useless perks, and nobody’s set synergizes like hers.

Artist and Hag immediately come to mind :). Cenobite is pretty solid on his base perks too.

  • @leviivel said:

I’ve seen it countless of times, people despise facing him for some reason.

he’s strong sure, and he’s got that disgusting fang add-on (damage with chains). But what really makes him so hated?

is it the box? Is it cuz he has anti chase? Or is it just the add-ons?

It's like Hag, Plague, Artist, Huntress etc.

There are a lot of survivor players that don't enjoy having to play differently, and Cenobite requires a secondary objective to be completed.

Like I said I expect obvious answers but I want to know if theres anything else as to why people use it. Do they find it fun or just want to win

    In this game?

Winning is fun. Losing is not fun, especially as a killer - and a big part of this comes from the behavior/attitudes of survivors when they win.

Honestly, if survivors would just get out of the damn gates and not stick around to gloat, killers would probably be a lot less sweaty.

  • @Arbmos1998 said:

Yikes can this overly forced overdone meme take a break? Surely I can't be the only one who finds this meme to just be straight up cringe worthy.

Survivors already complain over next to pretty much everything in this game at the very least can you not lecture me when I don't follow your stupid rules some content creator preaches you should do whenever you go against Pig?

Unfortunately these content creators who make this sort of childish "meme" creates a self entitled mentality that once one person does it creates a mob mentality that therefore everyone should and if you don't you are a horrible person ruining the game 👺to then be lectured in end game chats to then be raided with -rep -rep -rep on steam profiles.

I want to play the game as intended not stand still simulator allowing the opposing side to do as they please and treat me like a 5 year old. I've never ever played any other online game before where sides make demands on how the other should play and that they must follow their rules.

    Sigh.

    Yup.

This meme wore out it's welcome a year ago. Far too often I'm playing Pig, some survivor tries to meme when I catch them, I down them and hook them and they throw a tantrum in postgame.

Usually, I'll meme with people if I've already won. I'm not giving you a free win because you crouched and pointed. Go ahead and call me a stupid sweatlord.

I know what your thinking. Your going to tell me, "To keep up with the gens speeds" or "So I can fix my mistakes with the press of a button." Fair answer but I have another question. Does it ever get boring? To me it does. Don't get me wrong I can understand it but doesn't ever get bland? To be honest I think I would've stopped using ds if it wasn't for the occasional tunnel. Would've stopped using corrupt if it weren't for the fact three gens can be popped right off the bat. I think the increase in meta was due to sbmm forcing a completive mindset. Cant blame it all on it though. Meta was a thing even before sbmm. As of recently I've started using more perks for fun with the sprinkle of meta. Been enjoying the game more. The build I've been using is balanced landing because at least one exhaustion perk would be nice, any means necessary because I find it funny to reset a pallet just to stun the killer again, pebble because pebble, and borrowed time because well I don't need to explain. The goal of this discussion is to understand what everyone's reason is for using meta. I'm expecting a few obvious answers but I'm hoping there is more to it then just that. I personally don't have a problem with it but it can't be very fun to use the same thing over and over again... right? I've used my fair share of meta as I'm sure you have as well. This post is starting to drag on so ill let you comment as you well. That is all thank you.

    You answered your own question.

    But I'll elaborate:

    • The killer meta is more flexible than it has been in ages. PR, DMS, CoB all helped a lot to open up new ways to play while still being effective.
    • Survivors tend to be pretty nasty when they win, so I'd prefer to win. I'd love it if I had more room to play with funny perks, but as it stands - it's better to be complained at for playing meta than gloated at.
    • At a certain MMR point, basically everyone is playing to the meta on both sides. For killers, that means regression, blocking and info perks generally. For survivors, that means DH (occasionally SB, but usually DH) and some mix of BT, IW, PTS, CoH, DS etc. The higher up you go on the MMR ladder, the more rigid this meta becomes.
    • This is because all 'meta' means is 'the optimal way to play the game by our current understanding of the game'.
    • I do sometimes experiment with weirdo builds. They tend to be fun...until they aren't.
  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2852756#Comment_2852756

Right. And if you’re abusive in chat you can get a temporary ban in this game too. They’re not going to ban people for t-bagging in the game or whatever. It’s annoying but not worth the effort to try and kick people out of the game over it.

Teabagging - whatever. It's a taunt or a gloat. If you do it to me, I'm going to chase you, down you, hook you and probably ensure that you die. Postgame...well, chances are I'll see you again eventually - and I'll remember you.

My point is more that people seem to be able to give it - but then complain bitterly when it results in them having to take it.

Flashlight macros do honestly need a look though, as they can be actively harmful to people.

Because mmr totally still doesn't do that, It's not uncommon at all for me to see survivors with around 100 hours despite having over 2k

It's certainly less common than it was under ranks.

It was so easy to smurf that even some Fog Whisperers did it openly 'to get easier matches'.

Pretty much half my games were against people with hundreds if not thousands of hours, a lot of them smurfing or playing with smurfs. It was miserable.

You've got some good points, and I'd like to point out that I was a consistent red rank killer before SBMM and I just haven't played as much of it lately. The problem is that in solo que, teammates DON'T run interference, and you have no way of coordinating. If I try to rescue someone who is getting proxy camped (which BHVR has said is OK - further proving my point) and the killer just won't hit me so I can unhook/trade, or they get into a 2 second chase with me before going back to the hook, then what's the point? You may as well just let the survivor die on the hook while you go pump gens to try to punish the killer.

Going...back to the hook? That's not proxy camping.

Proxy camping is just patrolling out from a hooked survivor and watching choke points. If you are within spitting distance of the hook and not leaving it, you are facecamping. Proxy camping isn't cheesy or unfair, there is counterplay.

This game is, and has to be at least somewhat balanced around SWF - because killers need to be able to win too. BHVR have the new status icons for solo survivors coming soon (I'm guessing anniversary update) and that should help substantially with coordination.

I had 2 Camping Bubbas in a row now. Behold bubba is getting meta now. Literally need to take a break, the killers before were hard tunneling. Thanks bhvr for encouraging this

What exactly do you want them to do?

Facecamping sucks, but 'fixing it' is very complicated.

If you want to prevent killers from chasing/killing people unless they've got 2 hooks on everyone, you'd need to buff every single killer to a ridiculous level to compensate.

    For several reasons:

    • Her teachables are so good and have amazing synergy with each other. I've been running her three teachables alongside Pop and can pressure gens really well. Brine, Merciless, and Pop all work so well together and I think I prefer it to Pain of Resonance/Dead Man's Switch combo. Gen gets blocked at 90% if they miss a skill check, which gives you time to teleport over and hit it with the Pop/Call of Brine combo. A nearly completed gen can be absolutely destroyed within seconds.
    • Her map mobility is really strong and feels a lot smoother/faster than other killers with this power (Demo/Freddy). If you're good at predicting survivor movement, you can catch them off guard by teleporting. Also, I've surprised so many by using Floods of Rage and teleporting to their location.
    • If you're smart with her power and manifest around corners/out of survivor's field of vision, it's so easy to get free hits/gen grabs with her undetectable status when she's manifesting.
    • She's really good at 'hit and run' which applies a lot of map pressure and survivors will waste time healing. Her only real bane is CoH but I think that applies to most killers.

I think she's pretty awesome from a design perspective, and I love how her three perks really complement and work in synergy with her power. Not only is she super creepy and fun to play as/against, but it's so refreshing to have a killer whose power is something other than anti-loop (😴).

    No. I'll disagree here.

    Let's go point by point:

    • That's good, but perks do not make a killer. That's like saying Legion is a good killer because Discordance, or Clown with Pop.
    • As someone who plays a crapton of Demo, I totally disagree. About the only situation where she beats him is before he gets his network of portals down. Once they are, Demo has far superior mobility - plus he has reliable stealth via addons and an excellent gap closer. He's on a totally different level. I also find that TVs are very prone to RNG uselessness, where they can spawn behind a wall, facing another wall or on a different floor to the corresponding gen.
    • If survivors are giving you free gen grabs and hits, that's on them. She has a very distinctive lullaby and her phasing is...bad and unreliable.
    • The core issue - she brings literally nothing to the table that other killers don't have better. Even Myers has better stealth with Vanity+M&A.

Let's not get it twisted - I'm not going to rant about "killer etiquette" or whatever else. I'm just tired of every other game being against a killer that either tunnels a survivor out of the game to quickly make it a 1v3, or ones that camp the hooks to "force a save/grab" that brings multiple survivors in to try and help the poor guy on the hook.

BHVR seems to be actively encouraging this with perks like pain resonance, jolt, etc that allow you to slow down gens without interacting with them, killer powers like Sadako's, Hag's, Twins', and Freddy's that let you teleport almost next to a hooked survivor, and with their "skill based" matchmaking that encourages 4ks no matter how many bloodpoints you earn.

If I'm playing killer and want to increase SBMM, why wouldn't I just proxy camp a hook for easy hits? Why not tunnel a survivor and eject them from the game to make it easy for myself? The only perks survivors have to combat it are BT (which killers just wait out anyways), DS (which killers just wait out anyways) and maybe like, Kinship? But that's useless. Why should I have to take BT and DS every game just to solo q against these killers? Give us something like hook progress slows if the killer is nearby, something to help out. The loss of BP isn't enough, they just see the 4k as the win and don't care.

    From a killer's perspective:

    • Camping, as in facecamping is something that BHVR have openly stated that they don't like and want to do away with. However, this is difficult to do without completely breaking the game, and survivors aren't guaranteed a safe unhook (if I'm chasing you and you run over and unhook someone in my face, that's your fault not mine).
    • Tunneling directly off hook is just facecamping.
    • Tunneling outside of this is how killers are supposed to play. If you get down to 1 gen left and have everyone alive and not on death hook, you're going to get teabagged all the way to the exit gates.
    • Personally, I don't tunnel enough and lose a lot of games because of it - and I still get whinged at in postgame because people love to run directly into me after an unhook, or play flicky flicky teabag and wonder why I'm giving them so much attention (literally just played a game where a Jake with a legacy skin was spamming a flashlight macro on Eyrie. He got hooked, spammed it again as soon as he saw me, got hooked, spammed it again and I finished him off. He then cussed me out in postgame for tunneling him. I asked him why he was spamming his flashlight at me if he didn't want me to chase. His response 'be a man, grow up and learn to take a joke'. Sigh.)
    • You have a team for a reason. They should be running interference and you should be playing very carefully.
    • Survivors tend to be very nasty to killers when they win. If survivors are tired of killers playing sweaty, they need to stop hanging around in the exit gates to gloat. Most people would prefer salt to gloating.
    • Camping outside of facecamping is totally fine, and this has been confirmed by the devs multiple times. Be careful where you go down and don't lead the killer to the basement.

As I always say to survivors who complain about the methods killers use to win - play a few weeks of killer. Walk a few miles in those shoes - then get back to me.

My list. Please don’t make me play Billy again, I think I hurt everyone’s feelings after that last game I played as him 😭

Gah, the missus really wants me to try streaming (I play...so much DbD) but I'm a bit nervy playing against someone else that's streaming, let alone doing it myself.

It sounds like it’s another one of those things that can be brutal for solos but do nothing against a SWF, so that’s why I’m not a fan of it.

It's more one of those things that's decent against SWF (you can capitalize on the delay pretty effectively) and really nasty against solos.

That said, it is nice that we finally have multiple viable killer metas.

    PR+DMS is good.

    Pop+CoB is good.

    Undying+Ruin is still good.

    Plaything+Pentimentio is...actually not terrible.

I really like Pop+CoB on Wraith, Spirit and other high mobility killers, Plaything+Penti on Demogorgon, Pig and Cenobite (all the side objectives!) and PR+DMS on most other killers.

I've never been a fan of hexes aside from Plaything and DH, and am glad to finally drop Ruin once and for all.

Luckily I haven’t played against an Artist that did that but I still fear the day I do.

It's not as bad as people make it out to be. Anticipate the PR from the hook, eat the first bird then let go. The only thing that grinds my gears is getting an unlucky skill check right as I let go.

The trick to beating DMS is to know where multiple gens are, and to rotate if one gets shut down. This will result in it taking longer to do gens, but if you play right you'll be able to pop multiple gens very close to each other thanks to the 'dam' effect.

Keep in mind that she cannot launch birds from a close proximity to the hook, meaning that there is usually an avenue of approach to free people.

A facecamping Bubba or Myers is way more scary.

Like I genuinely do not see a pattern in their changes if they're willing to nerf stale biscuit but none of blights add ons.

It's not even killer/survivor sided anymore, it's just random what they decide to change.

It's mostly a 'history' thing, and a matter of the speed at which things are nerfed for killer (even when they aren't really destroying the game) compared to survivor.

That said, I also sympathize with things from the survivor side - as there are some killers that are unreasonably difficult to do well against, one specific map that is brutal for survivors and baffling buffs to crazily powerful killers while weak killers are left to moulder, or even nerfed.
