Yeah, this can be a huge advantage at loops, if you're demanifested and the surv can't see you over the wall.
But overall I think the positive and negative balance out here.
I'd say the negatives slightly outweigh the positives. At some loops, it feels like I have better vision of her as a survivor than she does of me, simply because she can't see over a lot of walls.

She isnt weak at all either.
No, she's astonishingly weak. Initially I put her at 'C' tier (below average), somewhere in the middle, just below Wraith.
After playing her a lot more and playing against her a bit, I've actually moved her down somewhat - she's like new Freddy or Pig in that your power is exactly as useful as survivors want it to be. The counterplay to her is amazingly simple and she lacks any real depth or pivot point. She's an M1 killer with janky stealth and a gimmicky teleport that can be negated by survivors or simple map RNG. Now I'd probably put her at D tier, about on par with Pig.
The only times she feels better than terrible is small indoor maps where she can condemn a lot of people at the same time, coincidently.

What does she have that other killers don't? Nothing, lol. She has a Freddy teleport on a longer, survivor controlled cooldown, stealth equal to that of Ghostface imho, and a bastardised version of Torment combined with RBTs. But what makes me better to me-again, not top tier, just better than the worst killer in the gane- is the combination of these things. Bringing together Freddy's teleport with some stealth, add in a tiny hint of game delay or a potential to insta kill with Condemned even if it could probably do with a slight buff and you get someone who excels at the 4v1 even if her 1v1 is awful. She's better than trash tier, because she has something that nobody else does and her kit is synoptic.
COH ruins her because it ruins the 4v1 and forces any and every killer to stick to the 1v1.
But, most importantly to me, she feels fresh. Pinhead, Nemesis, Artist, Slinger, Pyramid Head, Twins, Trickster- ever since Oni only one of these killers interested me. I've had no new content, essentially, for over a year and she feels like a well needed breath of fresh air. She may be weak (again, not trash though), but she's fun and she's new and exciting and that's why I love playing as and against her.
Mm.
I guess that's where we differ here.
She doesn't feel 'fresh' to me at all. Artist felt fresh. Cenobite felt fresh. Twins, while not being brilliantly designed, still felt fresh. All of these killers brought something no other killer did.
She feels like some admittedly good visual/audio design slapped over a badly designed killer that needed to spend another month in the oven (insert Gordon Ramsey clip).
Her teleports are cute, but that's all she really has - and it has a massive cooldown, plus the ability for survivors to simply disable it (generally they don't bother though unless it's late game and 3 people are slamming out one gen). Her stealth may as well not exist - without addons, by the time she's close enough to hear the gen I'm working on, I know she's there and can prepare to run.
Playing against her...I don't think I've ever been killed by her unless she was facecamping or I gave her a 'pity kill' at the end. She's so easy to evade. Her stealth is inferior to GF because of the lullaby - there's no real surprise to her approach.

Yes, there is a difference between replying to a long post with many different fallacies, assumptions. etc
and then someone who thinks Occam's razor can be applied like that.
I am sorry, that it disrupts your narrative, but I never said I was right, just applying critical thinking to the arguments made in the community.
I'm not sure you understand how this works.
I'm saying that Steamcharts are a representative sample size. You haven't even tried to demonstrate that it isn't.
Common sense and data theory both support me here. This is how statistical analysis works - you take a sample and survey them, drawing a statistically significant conclusion about the population at large.
Now, you could say 'well, Steamcharts are fake' or 'PC players are leaving for x reason and console players aren't'. But neither of these work, because you are inferring a counterargument that is intuitively less likely to be true than mine, and you aren't making any effort to prove them - you're just asserting and negating. This is where Ockham comes into play.
When there is a preponderance of evidence against your position, then the burden of proof shifts to you to prove it.

I dont disbute the possibility that numbers been going down, but you gotta realize most people blame specific game changes for these issues. They dont just say, 'oh no the numbers are down, but we dont know why' nono, they have reasons and they dont justify those.
Usually when I question them, the goal post shifts from mmr is the reason to the 'oh no the numbers are down, but we dont know why'
which is pretty telling of whats actually going on.
Yes. And there's nothing wrong with that.
At best, this is a form of a goalposts fallacy mixed with a little bit of sealioning. At worst, it's an AFF fallacy - you are attempting to shift the argument from 'numbers are down' (which players can safely assert based on data available to everyone via Steamcharts) to 'why are numbers down?'. That's something nobody can 'prove', probably not even the devs.
Let me put this another way.
If I say 'less people are riding the bus this month as shown by this sample', you saying 'well you can't prove *why* they aren't therefore your assertion isn't true' is a non-sequitur. You can't refute the antecedent by shifting the argument like that.
If you want to refute the antecedent, your response needs to be something along the lines of 'no, the same number of people are riding the bus because my dataset is more reliable than yours, and here it is'.

I felt absolutely powerless. Granted, I was on The Game, because that map has such a reputation for being balanced. All it was was holding forward and breaking pallets. My first chase, the survivor instantly dropped the first pallet they saw and I couldn't catch up to them as they looped around it even with Bloodlust (but sure, let's remove that mechanic). And I'm sure I'd have a similar experience on any other map.
The survivors seemed completely unfazed by my demanifested mode, and started running long before I came close to them. Any time I used my teleport, they were out of range or I was facing straight into a wall upon spawning, and my speed boost gave me little catch-up. And maybe it would hit them, but they never got fully condemned even though I was spamming it at times. I don't think they ever even needed a tape.
Despite it becoming a 3v1 rather quickly, I still felt powerless. Soon all of my TVs that I could use were away from the gens, and even though that's where the survivors were holding forward to, away from the gens and towards my TVs, I caught them in that way except maybe once. And soon enough, all the gens were done, with 3 people escaping. I tried desperately to tp around trying to fully condemn them so I could get a mori, rather than chasing the not-deadhook injured guy, because that would've ended with a BT/Dead Hard hook trade and they all get out regardless.
And this wasn't one of those unbeatable teams I get accused of exaggerating all the time. These were normal. I was constantly on the survivors. I tunneled the first guy out because he had no DS, and didn't use any of the strong pallets they had, and the team even came to block for them and give free hits, yet the gens still flew. I even got 1 or 2 Freddy hits, because they underestimated my reach. At times, one cocky Claudette even stood around waiting for me to chase them. My ability to phase through people only got me 2 hits despite them body blocking the first guy. No boons either btw.
Granted, my build was Call Of Brine, Gearhead, Whisperers, Dead Man's Switch, each of which I've been told are good perks, all of which I disagree with and have just proved with this match. I regressed the gens faster but they still got done, seeing survivors' auras on them didn't do anything because they just got off and held forward when I came, I was hearing Whispers all the time because of the map layout, and Dead Man's Switch probably garnered me 60 total seconds of blockage the whole match. I was also using Old Newspaper and Mother's Mirror, which are browns, but if the killer's as good as people claim, she doesn't need her best add-ons, let alone any add-ons, to win.
So don't be fooled. This is not the new Nurse. She's map/perk/add-on/survivor dependent, just like 90% of the killers in this game. People saying she's easy to win with and stuff like that need to get off the solo Q fruit punch.
I've played maybe 40 games with her since release and...she's a bad killer. Low 'C' tier, if not lower - survivors seem to have adapted to her and it feels like I'm playing pre-rework Wraith, but with worse stealth. Or a neutered version of Demogorgon with no Shred.
It's sad that Myers running Mirror has better stealth than an actual 'stealth' killer. And yes, far too much of her kit is in her addons (yay for mandatory browns and yellows again).
Right now I'm banging my head against the wall trying to make her work. The best build I've come up with for her is BBQ + Pain Resonance + DMS + Bamboozle.
@GoodBoyKaru said:
I will say I think for once I'm agreeing with you. Or, at least, with part of the post.
Sadako absolutely is not easy to win with. COH is the bane of my existence and if you can't find it the game is essentially over before it's even begun. Add-ons no but she is definitely perk dependent and is no where near the best killer in the game. I think she's a lot better than people make her out to be, but she's absolutely not the new Nurse or whatever.
Also tbh those perks are decent by themselves, they only really become good when paired with something else usually (ie Call Of Brine + PGTW, DMS + PR). Gearhead is still trash 🏃🏻
COH can be a nightmare on multi-floor maps or any place where it can be put somewhere that's a huge time commitment for the killer to snuff and covers a huge chunk of the map (RPD, Eyrie, Game etc.).
That said - I disagree that Onryo is even close to a good killer. What does she bring that other killers don't bring better? Her stealth feels almost entirely pointless. Her teleport is about all she has going for her, and - in ideal conditions, where TV spawn logic is perfect - it's about as good as Demogorgon's portals.
She's the only killer in the game that lacks anything to consistently shorten chases (aside from maybe Pig, but even Pig has a dash). She doesn't have an initiate, an instadown or an anti-loop tool. She doesn't even have real stealth (why oh why does she need a lullaby?).
@GuyFawx said:
Sadako is more of a new Hag due to her teleport she needs some adjustment still as they havent really balanced her yet since release. If the survivors have one person going around shutting off tvs and collecting tapes that limits your mobility and they should always become your priority. Dont just stay on one person trying to get a down if gens are popping and you see your tvs turning off.
She...is nothing like Hag. The most analogous killers to her would probably be Wraith running Beast (his meme addon) or Demogorgon if he couldn't shred.

Wow, I don't think that Nr 4 could make a better Solution against DC. Even I doing this if my killers is another tunneling bud, like why I need to break myself mentaly if my killer are brain dead?? Why I should be banned from game where I sent a lot of money for all that DLC 's and skins??? Just tell me, if your game will be crushing itself cuz of bad game optimisation you will be happy to get perma ban from game??? U serious??? Or u just laughing???
You may not like hearing this but:
- Why would you DC against a tunneling killer? Either outplay them or you'll be dead soon anyway. The only time DCing is acceptable is if someone is holding the match hostage. This is like saying 'I DC as killer if a survivor keeps looping me'.
- An occasional crash or DC is fine. 1-2 every day is not. Fix your connection, you shouldn't be able to annoy 4 other players consistently by DCing. The fact that I expect people to DC on a pretty consistent basis demonstrates that people DC in this game too much.

These are things that people always complained about and they dont consider fun.
Add replay option or spectate a game, like dota 2 has, practice mode with bots for all kilers,on any map.
I think this will never happen,I lost all hope in BHVR and i'm just waiting for new games of the genre to be released.
Facecamping? Absolutely.
Proxying and tunneling...no. Just because nobody seems to be able to agree what these things are.
Last night, for instance - I was playing Artist on Asylum and managed to down a Feng really early. Said Feng decided that she didn't want to play anymore and ran directly to me off hook, getting in my way - so I obliged and hooked her again. Two people DC'd and complained at me for 'tunneling' Feng in postgame.

Personally, if they would revert deathslinger's nerfs I could see myself returning, the fact he got nerfed so hard took away a big big part of the enjoyement I had in this game, of course there's many other issues that would make me return, but deathslinger nerfs were what truly started to make me lose interest into the game after 3.7K hours and playing since 1.0.0.
600 hours in myself, and I'm...still having fun, despite being disappointed at the Onryo release.
For me though:
- Facecamping fix. While I am a killer main, I have been trying to play survivor more and facecamping happens in maybe a 1/4 of my games. Win or lose, it's shockingly unfun to play against.
- DC penalty increased. Maybe a third of my games have someone pulling the cord.
- SBMM improved. I actually think that SBMM has been good for the game overall, but it just...doesn't work properly, far too much of the time. It needs to find a good quality match, wait times be damned.
- Struggling killers buffed. Some, like Freddy and PH desperately need an addon pass. Onryo, Wraith, Trickster, Billy, Bubba, Pig, GF and Legion all need their kits improved.

See: I think people have an overly rose-tinted memory of ranks. I started under ranks, maybe 2 years ago and...honestly, it was pretty miserable.
The thing about ranks were that they made games less sweaty for the veterans, as they routinely got paired with much less skilled people. It was awesome watching Otz and co. do 100 win streaks without addons on pre-rework Plague, but it was probably a lot less fun for the survivors in those matches.
I know that, as a complete newbie, about half my matches were against either people at purple/red ranks, or 2000 hour monsters who were smurfing at lower ranks. Smurfing was such a problem them that even some Fog Whisperers openly admitted to it 'to find easier matches'. Sure, you can smurf under SBMM, but it's a lot more difficult.
The issue isn't that SBMM was a bad idea - the issue is that it doesn't work half the time because lobby dodges futz with it and it prioritizes queue speed too heavily.

@ChrissKenobi57 said:
I like her a lot. She's a more viable Scratched Mirror Myers, to me. I won't deny she's not strong with antiloop, but honestly, I think the over reliance on antiloop as a mechanic has kind of hindered the game. Looping seems to have become the central mechanic of the game and this might make killer players relearn how to loop. What bothers me more is map layout. Looping in most maps is basically the same because of the same structures - 4 walls, jungle gyms, L and T walls, Z walls... It kind of stifles creativity within BHVR if the community expects that same map design all the time. But back to Sadako - precisely because of this, she's strong at Midwich, RPD, The Game more or less and ESPECIALLY Lery's. Indoor maps make us have to loop in new and more creative ways. Instead of the same old L and T walls, 4 walls, Jungle Gym formula. And that is also healthier for the game. She goes a bit back to DBD's roots when there was a lot less antiloop.
Yeah, I disagree completely.
A few things.
- I'd say she is about as viable as Mirror Myers, probably slightly weaker. Her stealth is less effective than his and she lacks the crazy aura reading, in exchange she gets passive phasing and a mostly irrelevant secondary objective.
- The issue isn't that killers don't know how to counter-loop. It's that survivors have become pretty savvy as to how to run things, and some maps just have too many strong loops linked together (Swamp, Badham, Eyrie, Game etc). You can go and watch Otz's Nemesis streak as an example - someone ran him for almost 2 minutes...on Nemesis. And that's a defacto pro-player.
- Because of this, killers need an anti-loop. And this doesn't always have to be a tentacle or a birb. It can be an instadown (GF, Myers), a strong initiate (Wraith) or a gap closer (Demogorgon). Actually, killers have had anti-loop tools since the inception of the game. Which is why Sadako feels so terribly undercooked.
- Midwich is a strong map for almost all killers. RPD is miserable for everyone (I hate it on Sadako because TVs can spawn in completely useless spots, like the floor above/below a gen). Lery's is a great map for almost any non-ranged/chainsaw killer. This is neither here nor there.
- What? There was never 'less antiloop', unless you are talking about the game's launch (which will never be a metric for good balance). The only killers I can think of offhand that didn't have anti-loop were pre-rework Wraith and Trapper (and even he's debatable). Instadowns, teleports, snares etc. are all a form of anti-loop. A killer's viability is determined by their ability to end chases quickly - and their toolkits should reflect that.

- Old Trickster, before the last changes he got, for some reason I feel like I was way better with trickster before they changed him, now he feels slower and different and I hate it compared to how he felt before.
- Deahtslinger, they killed him, simple as that.
- No SBMM, rank wasn't perfect in any way but freaking hell there wasn't meta over meta over meta every single ######### game and we could relax for 2-3 games before having 1 hard one which was making the game fun and relaxing and at times challenging, now it's just pure stress and annoyance.
- Making weekly streams answering questions from the community, I loved those things, we could get some information about subjects we were curious about or worried about and asking if changes are on their way, we had some answers or expectations weekly and it made it so much better, I miss those weekly streams.
- Maps layout before their rework, before their rework the maps were OKAY at the very best but now they are the most survivor sided things ever, the game, coldwind farms, these maps are so survivor sided I nearly want to DC each time I am into coldwind farm now, they are so bad, idk how the devs designed those maps but and idk how they got approved, they are bad.
Things they acutally never do
- Quality of life changes
- Answering questions we ask instead of simply saying soon
- Doing changes we cry about for so long or if they do they do it after 3 years
- Buffing killers that are having a hard time
- Reworking tiles/maps that are broken.
I am tired of this team of devs, I am sure they love what they do and love their game, but for ######### sake, PROVE IT AND WORK FASTER AND DO MORE, stop doing 4 dlc every year, do 3 dlc and work more on game features and content isntead of totally focusing on new one and leaving main issues untouched, it's not giving extra bloodpoints for playing a specific role that will fix the issues, stop giving the game band-aids and do ######### surgeries to fix it!
- Never enjoyed Trickster, so I don't really have an opinion here.
- Yes to Deathslinger. He doesn't suck, but he feels like he sucks. And that's almost as bad.
- I disagree. The issue isn't SBMM - SBMM was a good idea and has definitely improved my match quality overall. The issues are that a. SBMM poops the bed maybe 1 game in 5, and b. the meta of this game is a touch stale. High MMR matches always tend to be 'meta' in any game. The difference was, under ranks, you'd frequently be paired with opponents way worse than you. That was fun for the more experienced player(s), but not so much for the others.
- More communication would be a great idea. There was a period where the devs were very chatty on the forums too, but that seems to have stopped.
- Eh...Coldwind is better than it used to be, by a mile. Ditto Ormond (remember the frigging god-vault into the main structure?). The only map that feels unambiguously worse is The Game - aka Pallet Hell.
As to things they never do:
- They do add these, just way, way too slowly. It feels like taking a step back from crowbarring more DLC in and doing a huge QOL patch would be a good idea, but that's just not the industry anymore.
- Yeah.
- Yes...but who exactly do they listen to? That's the thing.
- YES. Onryo, Pig, Billy, Bubba, Clown, Trapper, Wraith, Legion, Ghostface, Freddy and Pyramid Head need at the very least a serious addon pass or tweaks to their kit.
- Yes, no argument here. Swamp and Badham immediately come to mind.

Yeah, in this case the 'Short' camera might need to be tweaked. It just...doesn't work, especially on a 115 killer.

Blight had a similar issue on release, and they fixed it.
Onryo isn't just small - her camera feels lower than Hag. Low camera angles also tend to make people motion sick (which was a core complaint about Blight) so we will see what the devs do.
That said - she needs help in a lot of areas...like actually giving her an impactful power and not just a bunch of superfluous fluff bolted to the carcass of an M1 killer.

Camping in and of itself doesn't need a reason. Some people do it cuz it's necessary, others do it to ######### around. You shouldn't cover people's eyes and tell them that it only happens in a specific situation just to create an alibi for them.
The act of camping is literally holding the game hostage of a player who does not have any other means to alleviate the situation, except to wait and die out or hold out for a fellow player to come get them.
FYI: holding a game hostage doesn't point to a specific premise. If a game halts for someone by another person's influence in a negative way, that's LITERALLY holding the game hostage for that person.
This is a pointless exchange, because BHVR do not classify 'holding the game hostage' in the same way as you, and they get to set the rules for their game.
They've expressly said that facecamping, while something they want to eliminate, is not against the rules. But holding the game hostage is. Thus, the two have a different definition - as others in this thread have explained to you.

More or less, yes. We don't have infinite decisive and loops, actual facecamping was removed years ago. People don't come to this forum Happy. They generally come here after having a few bad games, so it tilts the entire environment here. The biggest real issue with the game, imo is that the matchmaking prioritizes queue times instead of even matches, fix that and it's all good
There are still defacto infinites against certain killers.
How was 'actual' facecamping removed, exactly?

I like these tips.
- If I understand correctly, basically you are saying to not equip perks with the goal of trying and cover up weaknesses of the killer, but rather to equip perks that enhance your killers kit. If thats the case, I agree with you. I read on here some like to use Spirit Fury/Enduring on Hillbilly but unless it's "The Game" realm I find it largely not as effective for my play style at least. I might try Discordance though, that seems to fit my method.
- I have noticed this myself, with the exception of the exit gate as a marker. It sounds like it is good advice. Sometimes survivors spawn very close and the action starts immediately, but this is rare unfortunately.
- I like this tip. It is smart to bring the pressure away from the totem to put pressure via the hooked survivor by forcing them to my area, away from the totem if I am understanding you.
- Haha I have noticed this! Ill try to remember to try and take advantage of popular totem lit or snuffed.
- It can be very strong and difficult to deal with boons on those maps for sure. Sometimes when I hear the faint sound on RPD I sigh slightly knowing I have to navigate around the corridors, to the stairs, and back to the area above/below to find it.
- This advise I believe I am having trouble understanding, but maybe not. By attrition, do you mean slowly hurting like basic attack instead of instantly downing them? This would make sense to me but I might be wrong so please correct me if I'm wrong. Finally, I defenitely do not take advantage of slugging enough I feel. It would make sense though because I could slug, go chase with info from infectious fright, and that would force another survivor to go get the downed survivor. Hopefully I could down the other person I started chasing before the other get's healed up. I like this actually.. it seems like a good delay for the game by having 3 survivors busy. A slight delay most likely, but still better than the alternative of just hooking and looking for another survivor.
Yeah. Attrition killers are ones with a lot of mobility, but a lack of sustained pressure on one person (they instead focus on damaging a lot of people) - generally getting one hit easily and struggling for the second. Wraith, Legion and Hag are the easiest examples. They struggle the most against CoH. On them, I find that I have to slug a bit in order to try for a snowball, because CoH allows them all to heal up so easily. Infectious is a great slugging tool on killers like Oni, Myers and Plague - slug one, chase the second and you've taken 2-3 people off gens. If you down person two, head back, pick up the first - and sometimes you'll find a third to chase healing them.

Intro
New to the forums--hello everyone! Sort of new to the game as well, approaching 1k hour mark as a 90:10 killer:survivor player. I play on PC. English isn't the best so apologies from here on out.
I've played all the killers except spirit, and ultimately landed on Hillbilly as my go-to killer. I haven't indulged in much content posted online. However, after looking at the game's website and sifting through some content (old & new) I feel this is the best place to discuss the game as it seems there are quite a few highly educated members--including the game's developers, that contribute information regarding this awesome & puzzling game. I feel this is the best place to go to for questions and answers as a result. I also have most perks unlocked for killers.
Question
I'm just getting 0k-1k more often lately. I'm used to being shocked at a 2k as it wasn't good enough, but I'll gladly take that now . To be truthful, I love playing against good survivors. It's very engaging and difficult which I prefer. It makes for very busy game play. I can tell the difference between good and bad survivors so I don't really count the games anymore if they're easy.
I'm curious what strategies some of you use as killers against competitive teams that play at a high level. I understand how maps affect strategies depending on the killer's power as well. I'm also aware that the survivor's plans can change my approach, like if they're aggressive, safe, & efficient. How do you all handle yourselves? What is your favorite killer, build, and strategy?
For me:
Hillbilly:Chainsaw hits are very satisfying,. Indoor maps are pretty tough for me if the survivors are decent in their understanding of the layout. I'm also now getting survivors who bring map offerings frequently. Maps are usually: "The Game", "Mount Ormond Resort", "Bedlam Pre-Schools", & "Raccoon City Police Department" which increases the difficulty I feel. "Lery's Mental Institute" can be tough but no one really brings offerings for it so that's nice.Perks:I currently use: Infectious Fright, Barbecue and Chille/Enduring, Tinkerer, & Shadowborn. I'm debating Tinkerer recently because the survivors will already be moving away from generators. It does work sometimes in the middle of a chase however as I am undetectable so they make small mistakes. Barbecue is for bloodpoints mainly.Addons:I like Tuned Carburetor and Mother's Helpers because the reduced charge time is nice. The other addons I use are the overheating ones. I haven't messed with the others too much.Strategy:I enjoy roaming the map and finding survivors caught out. I like to start and finish chases. Especially with my power (chainsaw in my case) if possible to help shorten the chase & ignore "Dead Hard". However if I notice they run to areas that I sense are very safe like buildings, I'll break it off for another chase because it might take too much time. Sometimes if a chase has gone on for too longer I will stop as well since the generators do not take long to finish.Side Note
I typically get a lot of hooks regardless of 0k-1k. It's just that I'm not able to maintain pressure on generator completion or the hooks don't mean much. I don't typically camp, although I will proxy camp if I sense survivors around. I don't focus a survivor in particular either--unless I just keep running into them. I've seen on here that a killer like Hillbilly is lower tier. Maybe this has something to do with it.
The potential of the perk "Dead Hard" has become very pronounced too. I'm starting to understand the frustration of it. As your long chase comes to a close it gets longer. Another perk that's apparent, "Circle of Healing", is noticeable in its application & may have something to do with the trouble I'm experiencing. Both of these perks appear to be a big deal for others from what I've noticed here recently.
Maybe my favorite killer is simply not viable for the game at this point idk but any input will be interesting to hear.
Thank you for reading
A few general tips that work on most/all killers:
- Use perks that enhance the strengths of your killer, don't try to shore up weaknesses. Use aura reading+instadown on Nurse, for example, or Discordance on Nemesis.
- At the start of the game, immediately head for gen closest to the gate furthest away from you while keeping your eyes open. 9/10 times, someone spawned there and you'll get an early chase, often on multiple people.
- Against CoH, you may need to engage in a bit of proxy camping to focus the game into a different area of the map. On M1/attrition killers, run instadown perks, Plaything etc. It's a dumb, overpowered perk.
- However, booners are creatures of habit. They'll almost always try to relight the same totem. Use this against them.
- Some maps have stupid, broken boon spots (RPD library, Eyrie second floor etc.) where they can cover half the map and be a huge time-sink to snuff. Anticipate boons in these places and snuff them whenever you pass by...that's about the best you can do.
- Attrition based killers struggle against COH - you'll probably have to slug a bit.

- "Twins tend to lose a gen or two early. They aren't really an attrition killer - they rely on turning a down into a snowball of slugs. This pressure point tends to come in the mid-late game. Just focus on doing what you can early, even if it's just protecting a 4gen for later."
- - yea ik that and in my mind the first 2 gens that pop are basically free on almost every killer
- "With Twins, I'd move away from Ruin/Pop, this feels like a bit of an outdated meta. Pop works well on high mobility killers that can get to and kick the gen without wasting too much time. Ruin...honestly it's too fragile. I never use it anymore."
- - i can give that a shot sure!
- "BBQ is a fine choice. If you wanted to drop it, I'd slot in the new killer's Scourged Hook perk."
- - im planning on switching out BBQ i only really use it for the bloodpoints and then you have auras as a bonus, im also only level 30 on onryo but i will get it very soon
- "Corrupt is a fine choice, but I'm finding more and more groups that just hide and stall it out. If you wanted to drop it, I'd slot Agitation (to get you to the scourged hooks easier) or Discordance (I find that this is as good as Corrupt early - you'll always get a super fast chase on multiple people)."
- - I know that some people hide and wait it out but i havent had that in my matches yet and victor is 150% so its usually pretty easy to find someone anyways, since you know pretty much where they spawn and worst case scenario i can go and look from a hill
Yeah, trust me on the Pain Resonance + Dead Man's Switch combo. On any killer with mapwide disruption tools, it beats the pants off Ruin/Pop.
BBQ is a solid perk on Twins - you either know where to go next after hooking, or know that there are people nearby.
My issue with Corrupt is that it's an early-game perk. It's useful on killers that need to set up (Hag, Trapper) but on everyone else, I find it a bit overrated. I'd rather double down on a killer's strength (a lot of killers peak in the mid-game) with a perk that is consistently good through the entire game. Too often people either hide, or drop pallets like mad while the pthers pop a gen or two - meaning that Corrupt didn't do much.

If you don't want people to camp, then why can every killer instant down survivors when they attempt to unhook?
Because, while BHVR have said that facecamping is too strong a strategy (and they want to change that, but it's a difficult thing to do without breaking the game), this doesn't mean that you should be able to safely unhook in the killer's face.
@Voodoo_Thirsty said:
It's an abuse of power in which killers can hold a game hostage and not let one player actually play the game for the entirety of the match.
Back when the game was more fair, they were criticized of this behavior. After SBMM and with killer mains crying that the only real way to "win" (don't even know what that means anymore lol) is to camp and tunnel, these guys are now creating their own alibis to justify themselves too.
Grabbing players is fine, but it's the people who abuse them that's the problem. Sadly in 2022, you can't tell them to piss off without enraging all the killer mains.
That's...not taking the game hostage. This refers to situations where players trap people in a position where they can't end the match without DCing within a reasonable time.
Camping is just a cheesy way to win. I remember back when I first started - I camped a lot. I wasn't aware that this went against the etiquette of the game at the time. Not every camper knows that they are annoying people; it's an attractive, effective strategy.

i dont know what is going on today i main twins and 99.5% of my matches are 3 - 4ks but today i havent gotten more than 2 kills i feel really frustrated about it since i think i play pretty flawless but i just dont get it gens pop really fast my build is (corrupt, ruin, pop, bbq) so it isnt the best but it isnt the worst either...
the thing is they all HAVE CIRCLE OF HEALING!!?! and i just CANT COUNTER IT there is nothing i can do i basically get 10 9 hooks and i just cant get any more they are ALWAYS healed i even got 3 4 hooks before corrupt ended (0 gens done) I wasted pretty much 0 time didnt miss any pounces (i missed 2 but didnt get kicked)
Any good builds on twins and tf am i suppose to do against gen rusher when they have CoH i usually got for split pressure and injure them but when i down someone they are all healed so im basically forced to just chase down one then hook then chase down one and hook which isnt effective at all....
quick notes
the survivors werent bad they all ran DS, UB, DH, BT and one had CoH i had played against them 2 times in a row before they borught a map offering and they are friends on steam so i did know i had the odds against me but still...
i didnt run undying ruin because the 2 games before they got cleansed within the first 30 sec (both of em) so i changed out undying
A few things:
- Twins tend to lose a gen or two early. They aren't really an attrition killer - they rely on turning a down into a snowball of slugs. This pressure point tends to come in the mid-late game. Just focus on doing what you can early, even if it's just protecting a 4gen for later.
- This is true for a lot of killers.
- With Twins, I'd move away from Ruin/Pop, this feels like a bit of an outdated meta. Pop works well on high mobility killers that can get to and kick the gen without wasting too much time. Ruin...honestly it's too fragile. I never use it anymore.
- Instead, I'd replace Ruin with Pain Resonance and Pop with Dead Man's Switch. PR will save you a lot of time and give you info for your next chase (combined with BBQ, this can provide a very clear picture). DMS drives survivors insane and Victor is great for scaring people off gens.
- BBQ is a fine choice. If you wanted to drop it, I'd slot in the new killer's Scourged Hook perk.
- Corrupt is a fine choice, but I'm finding more and more groups that just hide and stall it out. If you wanted to drop it, I'd slot Agitation (to get you to the scourged hooks easier) or Discordance (I find that this is as good as Corrupt early - you'll always get a super fast chase on multiple people).

What is it that actualy is so fun, that Toxic swf groups actually exists? im not talking about how easy the win and the bloodpoints is or how much fun it makes to play a game with friends, im talking about all the things apart from this that are actualy toxic, like tbagging, exitgate disko and so on.
i would in perticualy like to know how a completle bullying match with tons of overly stupid exploits that are just there to ruin the game for another person is fun.
again please dont make this philosophical. if you do, are allways concentraaiting on subjectiv matters and forgetting the objective effects it has on players and game.
It's the age old formula. Normal person + Anonymity + Audience = Turd-Flinging Bonobo Chimp
Now multiply this by a bunch of people playing together and creating a feedback loop in their group, and you've got the DbD bully squads.
Honestly, teabagging and flicking are mild. I've had groups essentially trap me in the game as killer by being unhookable.

Assume anything not mentioned is an agreement.
Nemesis is indeed pretty fun - unless you get sent to Swamp against people who know how to run it (objects here still futz with his power). Down 1 tier.
Sadako...I'm holding out for a small buff. I love her visuals/audio, but her camera is so low that grass is like corn, and corn is like being trolled. Why does she need a lullaby? Down 3 tiers.
Legion - eh. Not my favorite. Down two tiers.
Demo - absolutely. Alongside Plague as 'best designed killers'. Up to top.
Nurse - I find her a bit one-dimensional. Down two tiers. Ditto Huntress.
Myers - I actually play a lot of him right now, preferably with the mirror+rabbit 'spoopy Myers' style (which I'm sustaining via black wards at present. It's incredibly fun and great for practicing chases. Up a tier.
Oni - I still don't understand this killer. Ditto Billy. Down two tiers.
Bubba - I cannot stand his sound design and people DC the second I down them due to an expectation of getting camped. Down to very bottom.
Plague - Among the 'perfect' killers. I never get bored of playing her - but weirdly, she's almost never my first choice. Up two tiers.
Trapper - Can be fun, but so janky at times. Ditto Ghosty. Down a tier.
Doctor - I really enjoy him. Well rounded. A bit too much of his power depends on addons though and latency issues make his shocks inconsistent. Up a tier.
Hag - She's probably the most divisive killer in the game. People either love her or hate her. I'm in the former camp, and she was the killer that made me enjoy this game. Up to top.
Artist - Weirdly similarly to Hag in that people love her or hate her. I enjoy playing birb momma quite a bit - but there are still issues with her bird strikes not counting towards medals. Up 3 tiers.

anybody using this offering knows full and well that it is to annoy other players for the entirety of the trial. This map is by far the most hated map of all time.
Most hated? It...depends.
If I'm playing Wraith, Hag, Trapper or spoopy Myers, I don't mind RPD. It stinks on other killers though.
I loathe this map on survivor.
That said, there are a lot of other terrible maps. Swamp immediately springs to mind.
May I ask why?
On survivor, this map's layout is so counterintuitive that I still get turned around, gens are annoying to find and a lot of players get lost and people lose hook states.
On killer, this map basically negates any ranged killer and has some very annoying loops.
It's just a bad map.

Show me how you know this for sure. if you cant show it, you really should not advocating such assumptions.
I certainly dont hope you are saying its accurate because you cant see why it would not be true too. cause that would be a second fallacy.
I don't need to - because Ockham's Razor.
Common sense.
There is nothing about PC gamers versus console gamers that would mean a huge delta between console dropoff and PC dropoff, therefore we can safely assume that if PC players are going elsewhere, so are console players.
Why would they be different?

I'm challenging the validity of using only Steams average/peak concurrent player count to reach a rational statement about the state of the game.
Its pretty obvious to me all the people using these numbers have an issue with the game, which they want to say caused the players to drop, but that is no reason to accept sloppy argument from poor research. MMR, Balance, Dead Hard, Cheaters. I've seen it all many times.
All you gotta do to show how useless those numbers are asking, 'How do you know your reason is at fault and not many other reasons/factors?'
They cant say why. Its that bad,
It seems to be a relatively representative sample size - we don't know the numbers for console players, but it does seem reasonable to assume that if PC players are leaving the game or just not sticking around, then console players aren't either. I see no reason why this wouldn't be true.

When will it finally be time for BHVR to acknowledge the fact chapters will only increase the playerbase for a short period of time, but now not even that because of the glaring issues the game suffers from.
These are the main reasons I think its driving people away, old or new:
SBMMR is not working at all.
Encountering cheaters daily.
New games of the genre coming out soon.
The fact 90% of your games as survivor are againts campers and tunnelers, because its a strategy that just works in the current meta of rushing gens then dip.
Playing killer is not fun because playing the game normally without camping or tunneling is tedious and feels unrewarding.
Insane grind that's very unfriendly especially to new players.
Game has become too stale because BHVR never took a risk until now, since they didn't need to.
Game is missing basic quality of life features that other games of the genre have.
Mm.
To my mind:
- Grind.
- Incredibly unfriendly ingame community, with devs that all but endorse 'smack talk'.
- Steep learning curve.
- SBMM pooping the bed in too many matches.
All contribute to a game that has a dedicated core of veterans and streamers, but with problems attracting and retaining newer players. This contributes to the SBMM issues, as there simply aren't enough new players to put up against other new players.
I'm...not sure if there's an easy fix here.

I just played a match vs 3 man bully squad(I'm pretty sure)..They threw in 3 petrified oaks to spread the hooks and each had a toolbox. Map was random, Macmillan. Now I don't condone my behavior as a normal strategy, it's really a um stick move but in my head my choice was try and play normal or make the game boring for them.
I didn't want to encourage this type of behavior so I slugged one, watched the teammate immediately run to the only hook in the area and disable it then I just stood over the downed survivor and waited, and waited, and waited...When a couple others came over I picked up the downed survivor and dropped her(starstruck). This bought some space for 30 seconds while I waited some more. They did manage to get her up 2 or 3 times but I simply put her down again and eventually she bled out.(I've used this before on a toxic 4 man flashlight squad. All 4 got out by finishing gens before one bled out and bodyblocking really well on the pickup. I gave them all kudo's at the end because they really did a good job. There were no hard feelings from anyone.)
At this point i had another down and the third discoed. I hooked the second, she died on hook and let the last survivor have hatch, I don't think he was part of their group. In the end game chat he asked what was up with that and I pointed out the tool boxes and oaks, he said oh yeah I forgot about that..gg i guess.
I'm sure it's been said many times before but my thinking on handling this type of bully squad or even camping killers is not buy into their narrative. Make it boring or just unfun for them. Killer wants to camp? Finish the gens and leave, that's how you change the behavior. Not by altering code and putting in some twisted mechanic that is probably going to be exploited anyway.
I'm interested to hear others thoughts on this or what you do when you face this on either side of the game.
Bully squads are tough. Not so much the 'lets just get easy wins' - I'm talking about MMR smurfed TTV squads looking to make your life hell for as long as possible.
I've had a 4man that basically just stalled the game out forever with sabos, bodyblocks, flashlights+dual lockers, Breakout and prenerf Boil Over at 1 gen remaining. If it's a squad just looking for an easy win, try to hook them once and just let them get out. You can beat them (sometimes...) by preying on their pride - they want the 4o so they'll be insanely altruistic and will often be so focused on flashlight strobing and teabagging that they'll make mistakes. These aren't the squads to be scared of - at worst, you lose.
If it's a stall squad, you're going to have to AFK until they get bored. A lot of these groups are trying to make you DC (and will happily say so in postgame). I try not to give them that satisfaction.
Camping killers - at least it'll be over quick. If someone is getting camped, slam gens. You'll just have to sacrifice them, especially if it's a Myers, Ghostface, Bubba etc.

Seems i am stuck on silver killer grade. No matter what killer i am using (Tier A ) . I will facing a sweat SWF.
On the other hand the killer I am using is the only way to reach the better grade.
On survivor side is so easy to get to iridescent grade.
Dont say git gud slang, because it is so boring and you cant elaborate what git gud means
It's not super hard, it's just tedious and requires you to sort of 'unplay' the game.
- You need to hit people a lot. Not necessarily down them, just lots of hit events. This means that killers who inflict a lot of strikes do well here (Hag, Nemesis, Cenobite) while instadown killers are much more difficult. Artist is also a little crap, because for some reason bird strikes do not count as 'hit events', or didn't last time I checked.
- Similarly, you need a lot of chases - preferably ending in a hit as fast as possible, gen damage and pallet hit events.
- You need a good amount of hook events - I think the most you need is 9 (you can maybe squeak a Ruthless with less, but it's rare on most killers). Meaning that you'll want to have sacrificed 2 survivors and have both others on death hook if you can manage it.
- Ash-Gold 1 is very easy, the rest can be a bit of a slog.
Now, if you are regularly 3-4king, it's a little more lenient. The major downside is people suiciding or DCing.
Wraith and Legion are great 'rankers' - their speed allows them to get rapid hit events with short chases. Myers, Billy, Bubba, Ghosty and Artist I've found to be really bad rankers.

I don't think DbD is dying, but I do think that it's beginning to stagnate - and the release of such an iconic killer in such a...well, at best incredibly mediocre state isn't going to help matters.

I wanted to see other ppl opnions on this topic because as a killer main who already got P3 and all perks on every killer then followed Mathieu's advice (play something else) i can't really recommend this killer to others...
She is not really fun to play as she has nothing special other than being able to walk through survivors and teleporting feels really clunky because you can't really tell exactly where the TV is nor the side its facing and on top of that u cant even move your camera during the animation...
In the end she is just a M1 killer with no chase potential, no insta down and a long cooldown teleport that can be prevented by survivors, instantly removing any form of potential map pressure she might have.
I must say that im just playing her because she is new and i wanna P3 her and find the best build possible, however she is boring as clown, Freddy and Wraith are more interesting to play (even tho they are extremely bland too), and once i get there, i'll probably stay away from DbD until next chapter.
She's...ugh. Frustrating.
I love:
- Her visual and audio design. Stellar work.
- Her power is interesting in theory.
- Uh...one of her perks isn't terrible.
However:
- Both aspects of her toolkit feel mediocre at best and entirely superfluous at worst.
- She has about 4 addons that feel mandatory for her power to be even somewhat impactful.
- TV spawn logic can render her power useless.
- Her small size creates visibility issues in tall grass and corn.
- A lack of any chasing tool makes her frustrating to play on a lot of maps/survivors. Even Pig can use her dash to mindgame at loops...and that's Pig.

when a survivor trolls you can still play the game, if a killer doesnt you've just wasted about 20 minutes of your life. this behavior needs to be punished.
I'm a 'nice' killer - in that I don't tunnel, don't camp and generally let the last survivor, sometimes the last two survivors go on death hook.
That said, this post illustrates just why the killer role can feel so thankless at times.

i mean, you're free to have whatever opinion on MMR you want, but the fact that ever since they released the MMR system DbD has seen nothing but red numbers (in terms of playerbase) does say otherwise.
its definitely not just MMR (its a combination of multiple things), but the fact that the ever lasting decline of this playerbase started exactly when they introduced MMR and has not recovered yet does suggest it plays a rather big role in it.
i can tell you one thing for sure:
the reason i quit this game is the MMR system. and the following patches and problems have made very sure that i stayed away from it.
and i will not be returning, unless they either admit defeat and permanently disable the MMR system again, or at the very least give me the option to opt out of it (e.g. a Casual / Competetive mode).
Who knows?
Always remember the golden rule - correlation does not equal causation.
I do think that SBMM might have something to do with it, but I think that it's more SBMM not working properly than SBMM as a whole.
That said, this also coincided with the end of the anniversary event, which is where the enormous spike happened. Some falloff was anticipated.

So as a Killer main, what would make you give up a guaranteed down to pursue a healthy survivor who could end up looping you hard all game? This may sound like a rare occurrence but for me it's a majority of my games. Killer chasing injured survivor, injured survivor is out in the open and not close to any loops, killer sees me, breaks chase, goes after me despite me being healthy, and proceeds to get looped for all 5 gens and then rages in end game chat. I kept having people try to tell me that maybe they just want to practice loops but I doubt every killer does that and the raging in the chat begs to differ anyway. So real talk. What makes people give up easy downs?
For me?
- I generally try to 2 hook everyone before killing them, unless we are at 1 gen or something unless you are the only person around. If I see someone else, I'll likely peel off to chase them.
- I may not notice the down and instead see you getting close to Shack or another ultra safe tile, and decide that it's more productive to spread pressure.
- I may be on the greasy end of a losing game and just want my last BBQ stack so it's not a complete waste.

- Bodyblocking is a good technique but it isn’t a “mindgame”. Neither is ambushing someone from the other side of a wall pre-chase. (And again, I’ve watched a lot of Tru3 play Wraith, I do know what you’re referring to. It’s how I play Wraith too.)
- Shorter Height is objectively an advantage in terms of stealth. It’s not a “wash” with anything, being shorter makes it harder for people to see you. You wouldn’t say “Wraith has trouble seeing the person on the other side of the wall while he Decloaks so it’s a wash” for example.
- Wraith’s slowdown is so slow that his lunge doesn’t make up the distance if the person runs away while he Decloaks. Bodyblocking works when survivors get confused and don’t run away, but when they aren’t confused and do run Wraith is about 8 meters away from them by the time he finishes uncloaking and only catches up maybe 3 meters of that during the initial burst of speed he gets after which he needs to catch up 5 meters at 0.6 m/s. In comparison Sadako loses no distance while Manifesting and then continues catching up at 0.6 m/s after Manifested, so she stays much closer to the survivor even when they run away. (And running through her doesn’t gain distance on her, it just maybe confuses the killer momentarily like a juke would.)
- TV spawns aren’t so random that RNG is a major factor. I haven’t yet had a match where I couldn’t teleport roughly where I wanted.
- To me, that's what a mindgame is. Predicting what a survivor will do, or foxing them into doing something and capitalizing. Isn't it?
- Yes, but Wraith can see people on the other side of the wall XD. What I'm referring to though is maps with a lot of grass/corn, where it can be difficult to see anything on Onryo.
- I'm not sure if that's true, numerically speaking.
- Wait till you get RPD, Lery's or Swamp. These are the three I've had with really wonky TV spawns.

"Superior stealth"
No. Absolutely not. The hulking monstrosity that clomp clomps louder than Oni and gives constant map-wide notifications on everything he's doing whenever he's doing it does not have better stealth than the killer so small it's hard to see her in most tiles and who does not go CLOMP CLOMP CLOMP ROAR
I used to think that Demo had this problem, because they are crazy loud from his POV.
After playing against him a few times, it's actually not that observable from the survivor side - let alone 24m away - particularly when you site the portal behind a wall (occlusion really helps). Add in one of his addons to increase undetectable+make portal emergence silent and either aura reading or gen reading and I still get at least one straight up gen grab a game.

After several years without a viable gaming computer, I got one. With that, the desire to play something. After research, I decided to play DBD (I'm 40 with a toddler, so yeah, one game), I love horror movies and this was my opportunity to not make the "mistakes" killers make on movies.
After analysing the Killer pool, I noticed I would enjoy playing Deathslinger, but I wouldnt start DBD with a ranged killer. So I began to accumulate bloodpoints with Wraith, grinded til I was Silver III with it, than I changed to Legion and got Gold I, switched to Deathslinger and got Iridescet II and finaly got Iridescet I on Trickester today. In beetwen I played some games with Clown as well.
I'm having great frun with the game, even so that I bought every chapter today with the sale promotion, but getting to the highest grade so fast is kinda weird. I havent even learned all the maps yet, I dont even have a single killer at 50. It feels wrong. At the very least, incomplete. There has to be something else to measure, and display, the actual "godness" of a player, and Im far from being top tier, but I would like to actually know how good I'm compared to others, like chess ELO.
Thats it, 2c worth of opinion.
'Grade' is weird.
As a killer, it's not hard to get Iri 1, particularly if you 'manage' your MMR. However, some killers don't grade nearly as well as others (Myers or Billy for instance are awful at grading, while Wraith and Demogorgon tend to do it easily).
It's substantially harder to do it on survivor I find, at least past Gold 1.
That said - grading really is more a reflection of time spent than skill.

I disagree with the statement of flashlight clicking or a message. A message you can say kyf or as a flashlight it just gives an annoying clicking sound. Yes it makes the game less pleasant but these two can not be compared in that sense
Noxious stimuli+strobing gives me an intense migraine and occasionally nausea. This stems from a concussive injury I suffered some years back - and my photosensitivity issues are very mild. Only one other recent game has actually given me issues, and it was ridiculously flashy.
I can only imagine how this would work on someone with more serious issues - and I've had survivors say in postgame that they hope they can give someone an actual seizure one day.
On the other hand, I can turn postgame off and private my Steam profile. One form of toxicity I can negate, one I can't.

Nice, nice. I have a few people from forums that regularly come over. So that's cool. I go live at 4pm EST most days. It's TTV/coty_baker. I'll be playing her a few different times today for sure.
I find with demo...The shorter portals arnt a problem of course. But at that point. If it's that close...Why even port when you can walk there. The biggest issue to me. Is when he has to travel great lengths that sadako is far superior. Say cross map to cross map because you see them on gens.
Wraith is only superior in stealth IMO because of the lullaby. But the uncloaking is a wash IMO. Wrath losses distance first. While sadakos movement while manifesting isn't terrible at all. And again yes I mean when I say 15-20 seconds to walk somewhere. I mean if you see someone on bbq and decide you want to protect that gen on the other side of the map. Sadako can be there instantly. Wraith cannot.
Hmm. When I play Demo, I'll set down portals preemptively on larger maps, generally on my initial routing or when I've hooked someone. It's seldom an issue for me to get to one side of the map from the other (which is why I've called Sadako a bad version of Demo). He can also get gen tracking, automatic KI or even aura tracking via addons - allowing him to use them very effectively.
Wraith doesn't exactly lose distance - he slows, then gets a burst of speed (if I'm correct, it ends up being roughly the same distance wise) but that's only a factor in 'holding W' situations. Where it shines is at loops, because you can use that burst of speed to overwhelm or confuse the other player.
Wraith indeed can't be there instantly, but he can be there reliably. You see someone with BBQ on the other side of RPD. With Wraith, I know I can probably get there in time, and will almost always be able to get a hit before they can respond. With Sadako, maybe I can teleport there - but oh no, this time the closest TV is on the floor below, meaning that it's actually going to take me longer to get there than if I sprinted over with Wraith. And it goes on cooldown.

I think more than a few of us have called this "Toxic" right? Well I kinda disagree but also... agree. I don't know. I don't really find this toxic as I have played a fair amount of both sides. Usually from what I've seen when a survivor does either of the two things the killer will probably get frustrated allowing the survivor in the head causing killer to play worse. I've seen this before where a calm collective killer started getting angry making them make mistakes they usually wouldn't have other wise. Now my thoughts to Bming. Honestly I just find this funny. It usually leads to being tunneled which im actually fine with sense the killer is just wasting more time on you rather than protecting gens. What I find toxic, actually toxic is post game chat or dms to a player on console because they did or experienced the things motioned above. Really clicking or t-bagging makes you lose distance and bming on hook waste precious seconds. I know there's more things that I could have motioned as toxic but these are the things I hear about most. Tell me your thoughts and if you agree with what ive said.
Sigh.
Okay, let's dig in here. Going point by point.
- 'Toxic' is a subjective definition. I'd say that it refers to people doing things in the game with the only purpose being to upset or annoy other players.
- Yes, it can be effective as a tool, disrupting the mindset of the opposing side with the goal of making them miserable IRL so they play worse - but is this something we really want to support? Shouldn't we be looking at ways to make both sides have more fun, not less?
- Personally, it doesn't make me play worse. But it does annoy me, and make me enjoy the game less.
- Having a community of this nature stifles growth. I know that it makes it a harder sell to prospective new players in my circle of friends. League of Legends, on the other hand, was one of the pioneers of improving community behavior and it did brilliantly. I'm not saying that the slow (and at times backwards) growth of DbD can be attributed entirely to it's obnoxious community, but it definitely doesn't help.
- There isn't much difference between spamming your flashlight to upset the killer or sending them a nasty message after the game to upset the killer. In both situations your goal is to make life unpleasant for another player.
Obviously, some people can be oversensitive. But I come from a sports/martial arts background and I can tell you - if you refuse to shake hands with your opponent before the game (or even after), you generally are looking at fines, possibly even disqualification.
There is a reason for this. Sports should be about skill. Not your ability to upset or irritate your opponent on a personal level. I don't see why competitive gaming should be any different.
