Sure, but that was usually true. If you could not reach Red Ranks you probably didn't know what you were talking about. Rank 1 was trivial to get on both sides. If you could not get that....well why take their opinions on game balance seriously?

You would have people in here crying about Doctor and stuff, and knowing they were like rank 20 or something made it make a lot more sense.

Because, as some smart person once said: 'my butt has been a butt for a long time, but that doesn't mean I have to listen to anything it says'.

It's The Shape's Tombstone Piece with J.Myers Memorial. I've come to the conclusion that tombstone piece is the best add-on and playstyle in the game.

The best build i've found for it is : Play With Your Food, Corrupt Intervention, and then deadlock, nemesis or tinkerer.

If you're using nemesis you may also use Judith's Journal.

The strategy is to kill 2 survivors as fast as possible and then camp the 3rd survivor.

My only issue with this is that, while you can win pretty easily, you also get sod all BP or pips.

Plague: Pentimento, Thanatophobia, Plaything, Thrill of the Hunt

Myers: Vanity mirror + dead rabbit on an indoor map with Monitor, Devour Hope, and 2 perks of choice that I typically switch up. I usually pick Lery’s because totem spawns are actually good on that map. For regular myers, something like corrupt, PR, NWO, +1.

    Wraith: Pop, NWO, corrupt, BBQ.

Artist: BBQ, starstruck, agitation, PR. This also works pretty well on wraith too.

And a fun build for bubba even though it’s prob not the absolute strongest it’s still decent and fun to play: bamboozle, BBQ, corrupt, plaything

Huh. That's remarkably similar to my own Plague build (I generally run Discordance instead of ToTT for easier tracking).

There are no stats or visible MMR rank which you could compare to others ranking/stats, so I wonder what's the point.

Getting a high MMR is a byproduct of playing well. It's not a goal. It's just there to (ideally) ensure you aren't facing people substantially less/more experienced than you are.

Your 'goal' is to get better and facing proportionally better opponents.

    Hag: CI+PR+Monitor+Devour. Addons: Range, Speed.

Yes, dealing with their tech team does nothing as far as crashing until a possible new patch comes out and hopefully they fixed it.

Deliberately DC multiple times in a day? What? My game has been crashing twice normally in a day since this new patch, and IF it reset. I'd be okay. Wait 24 hours and if you DC again you go back down to 5 min, then 5 min for the second, 15 3rd, 4th 15, then 30, 30 5th, an hour etc. I could deal with that. That's WAY to many DC's for one day. I agree. But, I had in the period of two days, 4 crashes AKA DC's. So I waited 48 hours. What's "maybe speculated" is 24 hours for one let's say 'blemish'. I got the second 15 min and waited two days. Played one game, got a crash after and a 30 min ban. It's only increasing with no reset.

No other and if you have else to prove NO other even actual competitive game has bans like that. That increase with no time reset since DBD doesn't tell anyone how it works.

Again, how is it not fair? It's a game. So what if people DC? Let them be salty. Does it matter that much if someone does? I get you want a 4k as a killer but more often even if someone DC's typically your not in the group that is gonna 4k every game anyway. So more for you.

The thing is I'm not upset per say. But I'm annoyed over the fact I have out money into this game. Of my own volition, but I should still be able to play even due to their poor design. And if you think it is ruining your experience when someone has bad internet? Welcome to online gaming circa CSGO to now.

And again, a 3v1 puts allot of pressure. But it challenges them. If I see a DC, I will try to hold aggro and loop while others do gens. Not that I'm probzz by any means, but it gives me experience

    • What else do you expect? This is how it works. There's no magic 'patch wand'.
    • Other competitive game? League of Legends' Leaverbuster system would probably have permabanned you by now.
    • Why are you defending DCing? That is honestly a bit sus.
    • It's not so much me wanting a 4k and more me wanting a good game. I've never had a good 3v1.
    • Yes, it's absolutely ruining my experience, because this game is 4v1. 3v1, this game isn't fun.
    • Again, you seem to want to have your cake and eat it. That's not how things work. You either need to stop DCing or accept that you are going to get timed out. If DbD truly is the only game that's having connection issues (and it's not you rage DCing) then it shouldn't be hard to isolate the problem. Go chat with tech support.

I'm not a new player, and I personally have not experienced issues with SWFs, I'm simply stating what I know would be a vast improvement to a very dismal aspect of this game. And btw this isn't a standard pvp game, this is an asymmetric pvp, it's quite a bit different. And furthermore the way this game was designed it wasn't setup for playing with friends. Which is why you don't start out with 4 survivors from the same town or even the same horror story, they're designed to be loners with a common goal, not 4 friends trying to beat 1 enemy.

A better solution, to my mind, would be to do what...basically all other team games with an MMR matchmaking system does.

Essentially, you get a scaling multiplier to your MMR when grouped up. Say, 1.1x for a 2man, 1.3x for a 3man and 1.5x for a 4man to offset in the increased communication by giving you a stronger opponent.

    @Tactrix said:

SWFs have no adjustment because there's no way to adjust them. I had a post where I went into this at some length when it came to MMR ratings and SWFs, but the issue is there's no real way to adjust for an outside factor, because you'd have to not only adjust for people playing together, but also the high probability of them playing on coms, which it's impossible to adjust to. Because if the players can speak to each other then most of your vision perks are unnecessary. It's skews the entire game. Which is why SWFs must be removed. There is no true compensator for them. The game chat has to be removed in that instance otherwise people would use it as a discord end around to the SWF removal, and the basement removal is a balance to the removal of SWF and chat.

    See above.

Get net average of the survivors in a SWF. Apply the corresponding multiplier to their MMR for the purposes of matchmaking.

It won't completely fix the issue, but it will definitely help.

Okay for one. Have you ever dealt with their tech team? Does nothing. And they are "ridiculously" light? You serious? R6S ngl I've rage quit comp games. I do get punished with rank and time. It is a rare occasion but I've been known to lose my temper. Their punishment is well known and gets reset. Yes it can happen again after some time. But more often it's enough time I learned my lesson and have calmed down and went in with a clear head. But my internet had for the most part never failed me. When it has. I can reconnect. Albeit again, lose the game sometimes. Oh well. Here, you get a few DC you are punished again and again. No it's not my internet or my hardware as again I have said ZERO other game has this issue. I've tested multiple multi-player games. It's only DBD. So how is my issue? And even if it was. I paid for this game. People act like this is their life. It's a game. So what if others DC? I don't like it but I stay in the game and make the best of it. If it's their pips? I've still pipped due to double DC's. So how does it ruin it? Because you don't escape but got up in a rank that doesn't even matter? Your MMR is invisible anyways. So why or how can it ruin it for everyone else? Use it as an experiment to loop, or hide and rush gens, how to best combat how a killer works, etc.

    • Yes, I have. I reported a bug, bug was eventually fixed. Have you tried posting logs and asking for help in tech support? It's not like you have anything to lose by trying, and maybe someone could help.
    • Yes, they are ridiculously light. You can deliberately DC multiple times in a day without much of a penalty other then 'let me go get another cup of coffee while I'm timed out'. Contrast this to other games, where you'll be put into a 'leaver' pool and have to win several games to get out of it, or can even have your account permanently banned.
    • This may sound harsh, but if you can't play without DCing - you probably shouldn't play until the problem is fixed. It's not fair to the other players in these games to constantly have to 3v1. I hate it on killer, as it also denies me rank and BP for something outside of my control.
    • If it's just DBD, chances are that it's either your VPN, your firewall or some problem point in your ISP's routing. Posting logs in tech support could help you to at the very least isolate the issue.
    • Now, I'm not trying to be mean but - if it's 'just a game', then why are you so upset? Personally, as someone that has limited time for his hobbies, I consider it quite a big deal when I can't enjoy my hobby because someone is attempting to play the game on a Thinkpad from the Arctic circle.
    • It's not just about rank. When I play, I want a good, close, thrilling game. A 3v1 is basically unwinnable for the survivors unless skill levels are grossly mismatched. These games aren't fun.

  • @wiccan said:

Just a heads up that this is a long "rant" lol. I created an account just to make this post, in hopes that maybe the devs will read it amongst the dozens of other threads. I am relatively newish to the game by many people's standards, but I do have a few hundred hours into the game in total and I play survivor mainly. My time playing recently has not been very fun unless I'm playing with friends (and even then sometimes it's not), and I'm going to explain why below. I will start with killer and then go to survivor.

    Killer:

-- Killer MMR is broken. My very first few games were fine, but after that I was thrown into lobbies with survivors that are much better than even I am on survivor. They do not reflect my skill level AT ALL.

-- Teabagging throughout the game and at exit gates just to be toxic in the after game chat has seriously made playing killer less fun. The bullying of killers turned me away from that side of the game and is why I mainly play survivor.

-- Perks. As much as I hate to admit it because I do love these perks on survivors, deadhard and CoH are a big problem. I mainly play m1 killers because Im on controller and do better with them, but if I slug or leave chase for more than 15 or so seconds they are healed. Deadhard extends chases so well that paired with boons killers essentially have to resort to "toxic" methods at least once throughout the game to win, or risk taking a loss most of the time.

    -- Double lockers. Enough said.

-- Maps are way too big and there way too many safe pallets on some of the maps. See RPD for reference.

-- The grind for BP (this applies to both sides obviously)

    Problems with survivor:

-- Certain killers (particularly the one hit down killers like bubba) are too rewarded with facecamping and/or hard tunneling someone out of the game. Something seriously needs to be done about it. It's not just the one person being affected. Everyone else either sits on a gen getting no action or tries to be altruistic just to be killed.

-- Despite this being a team driven game there's no way to communicate with teammates unless youre swfs. Because of this and MMR being horrible, I feel like I'm paired up with people that have just started playing the game that I cant help talk through the match, and because of this I consistently have to put it 3x the work if I want to escape.

    Suggestions:

If at all possible, decrease the map size on some of these maps, so it makes it easier for killers, especially those with poor mobility. Gens shouldn't be popping before I can even make it to the other side of the map. (I feel like this is also a spawning issue, where players are spawning directly next to gens). Add in game mic options (with an off switch in settings should people not want to play with mics). Fix the pallet situations on maps where its much too easy to loop killers for 5 gens. Scrap the current MMR system (wins and losses are not an accurate measure of skill. its too easy to inflate your MMR or purposefully get to a lower MMR should you want to). Add some type of cooldown to CoH or make it so totems snuffed out by the killer cannot be blessed again.

I know a few of things might have been mentioned before by the devs but these are consistent issues that are driving ppl away. Both sides have such fundamental issues that I feel need to be addressed asap, and will not be fixed with such slow updates and lack of real communication. Because of this I have a hard time seeing myself here much longer despite loving the game, because I get on and sometimes instantly want to get off.

I feel you, to some extent.

    • Killer MMR is very wonky at certain times of day, particularly prime time. This is often exacerbated by the system not handling lobby dodges correctly and massively overprioritizing queue speed. Apparently some of this is going to be fixed at an undetermined later date.
    • Unless you have an elephant hide, postgame chat needs to be turned off and stay off. Yes, survivors (and some killers) are toxic, but the devs have made it clear that they consider being nasty a crucial part of online gaming, and it's their game. Just avoid the exit gates as the killer.
    • Dead Hard is getting changed. Eventually. CoH is pretty busted, but you can somewhat play around it and even occasionally turn it to your advantage (nothing makes my job easier than a Jeff who insists on blessing the same totem 5 times in a match).
    • Double lockers need a fix, and all we can do is continue making the devs aware of it. Boil Over was changed for the same reason - it allows survivors to stall matches out forever with no way to prevent it.
    • RPD isn't that bad. It's a horrible map for both sides. Pallets can be bad, but it's always vaults that wind up being ridiculously gamebreaking.
    • To my mind, the problem maps are MD, Swamp, Badham and Eyrie.
    • The grind is apparently being fixed, soon.
    • Facecamping has been confirmed as an issue, and a mechanical change to discourage it is currently undergoing internal testing, the last we heard.
    • Solo Q will be getting a fancy set of status/action icons to help them coordinate better.

    As to your suggestions:

    • It's not so much the map size, as it is the density and ability to chain safe tiles together.
    • Survivors blasting out the first gen thanks to lucky spawns is annoying, but it's not something you can easily change. More often than not, I prefer survivors to spawn together as this usually gives me a powerful first chase (hint: always head to the furthest exit gates, survivors will generally be on the closest gen to that). It's the survivors that peel off and work on different gens from the get go that scare me.
    • Ingame mic...no. Please no. A robust set of emotes would be much better, all mics result in is me either not being able to communicate or have 2 14 teens from Brazil widdling in my ear for 20 minutes.
    • Yes to map balance overall.
    • MMR is fine, it just needs some tweaks.
    • Yes to boon snuffing. Buff Overcome and Dark Theory though.
  • @Kira15233 said:

I honestly love playing a new killer and GETTING DEMOLISHED EVERY SINGLE GAME, for legit 3 games in a row, this game honestly is the worst in terms of balancing, boons everywhere, hexes gone in 2.5 seconds, I'm done trying to do stuff...at this point, I might just load into a match and not move the entire game, geez

This isn't really a matter of MMR sucking - and more the fact that the SBMM system has some truly bizarre design decisions.

From what we know, a 'new' killer (which is defined as any killer you haven't played for 3 weeks or more) is assigned an MMR pegged just under your highest MMR killer. This is somewhat borne out in my experience.

Why? Now that's an interesting question.

What I'll do on a 'new' killer is just go into my first few games expecting to have a tough time and just focusing on getting the fundamental of that killer down.

  • @Tactrix said:

Get rid of SWFs, get rid of ingame chat both pre and post. And get rid of the basement.

I will explain my reasoning. First, SWFs, they were never suppose to be in this game. Look at the game itself, it's designed to be 4 solo Q survivors against 1 killer. And we know this because first 50% of the abilities are based around information where everyone is, and second notice how none of the survivors come with a headset, or a radio? Yea that's by design. SWF has a always been a really bad option in this game, because with SWF the survivors can literally tailor their builds around just telling each other where the killer is, and that's a huge advantage.

Next is chat, chat has never served in any positive light EVER. In pregame it's designed to once again circumvent the ability to play solo Q blindly, and in post game it's designed for trolling, because what else does anyone ever say? If you want people to be able to say GG endgame, just make it a clickable button and remove chat entirely.

And finally the basement. Killers exploit that way WAYYY too much, there are killers like trapper and hag that are designed around that place being inescapable. So yea, it needs to be removed heavily.

    Eh.

The issue isn't SWF. People...want to play with friends.

The issue is that SWFs do not get any sort of matchmaking adjustment, which is sort of the industry standard - leading to some very lopsided games.

FYI, you can disable postgame and pregame chat with a single click. I generally have it turned off, and only enable it if I want to say something.

The basement is fine. It's designed to be a death trap. If it feels like you're going to go down, don't let it happen near the basement.

I've truly now let this game go. I have ZERO problems with any other games. DayZ runs better then this. And because servers in DBD punish you for it, I'm done. Before I hear crys of "Get better internet...update harddrive....ect ect". My games work fine. I do not DC, IDC if others do. More often you have some funny matches after 2 DC's. But the fact I can't play a game that I ####### paid for? Due to them increasing penaltys, mind you, due to their terrible design team ,means we suffer? No other game crahes like this. And believe me, there are minecraft mods more intensive then this. Its become a poor cash grab with a design team of subpar coders. I could deal with crashes. But this isnt even an eSports game, reason for it. So why do so many get to suffer not playing a game they paid for due to your negligence? I've lost hope in this company, I now see why all my friends left it. Match making bans like an eSports game, but with more bugs then bethesda, and servers worse then bohemia.

It's unfortunate, but this sounds like a problem on your end.

I'd suggest posting logs to tech support and seeing if someone can help you.

How does BT or DS play into anything?

Again, it feels like I'm trying to dig holes in water here - because you keep changing your story.

No, bubba IS the killer used by people who want to facecamp, not the other way around.

If you match bubba, you will be camped, doesn't matter what you do.

Facecamping Bubba is the current meme, but a lot of people underestimate the facecamping Myers, Trickster or Ghostface.

What opposite way? They don't know if your TV is behind them or to one of their sides, the sound isn't directional unless you are within 16 meters. For all they know you went across the map, you have to come from different angles. Also approach demanifested so you aren't caught out early

From what I'm seeing, they generally assume that you are teleporting somewhere ahead of them, because if you were teleporting behind them you'd be looking a different way.

If you teleport behind them and they don't correctly anticipate that...yeah, that might work - but it's a blind coinflip even if the TV is in the perfect position, and not facing the wrong way, into a wall.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2858605#Comment_2858605

then you do admit bm'ing wins games. facecamping is equal to forfeiting chases to killers right? then why facecamp?

I'm saying that your story keeps changing.

First it was 'I act like a toxic little gremlin then lead the killer on a chase for 5 gens, winning the game for my team - which is how I got out of low MMR'.

Now it's 'Well, it makes them facecamp me'.

You need to pick one and stick with it, perhaps? Because this is getting silly.

Killers generally facecamp for two reasons.

    • They aren't confident of winning the game playing standard.
    • A survivor irritated them and it always feels good to take a bully down a peg.

Wait, I thought they were going to chase you for 5 gens?

All you've proven is that, yes, teabagging and strobing people makes them more likely to engage in the same behavior that you not only complain about, but use as justification for teabagging and strobing people.

then clearly you haven't played dota, Spamming Loud obnoxious callouts wins games like "Lakad Matatag", distracting people get their attention off of things, screaming at a bear and acting obnoxiously lends their attention to me, away from things the I deem vulnerable unlike killers hitting people on hook, survivors don't get distracted by getting hate it only makes them gen rush faster. It's not the same.

I played DOTA for some years, and that's...not a community I think should be any sort of icon. The OG DOTA community was one of the most notoriously poisonous communities ever.

killer hitting you on hook is a good sign for survivors less time for you to start chases, and do you think that survivors like getting tunneled and camped? It's a valid strategy of course, but it doesn't mean its playing fair, no one think its fun to get tunneled and camped, but everyone thinks its a good strategy,

so is bm'ing the more time killers chases you the less time they're chasing weaker survivors who would absolutely die in the first minute. it lets them extend the game by distracting killers.

It's how i get out of low mmr, looping killers for 5 gens, and do you think I'm happy getting chased all the time? No, but it saves my teammates, it wins me games, so don't tell me its not the same.

Firstly, those terms are so incredibly nebulous that they are essentially meaningless.

I know I get told off for 'tunneling' because some chumbawumba unhooked in front of my face, mid chase. I get accused of 'camping' if I so much as chase someone past a hook.

Secondly, facecamping is something the devs have confirmed is not intended to be as effective as it is. Their mechanical fix was at the internal testing phase, last we heard.

There is a world of difference between using an ingame mechanic to gain an ingame advantage, and trying to rattle people IRL in the hopes that it makes them play worse.

It's like...back in the day, I used to do a fair amount of Kendo. If I knew my opponent had a weak left eye, I'd attempt to stick to his left. That's a legitimate strategy. Calling him a racial slur and making comments about his kids before the match to try and distract him isn't.

It's so odd that I have to explain this.

sportsmanship is dead in this game, this game have and will always have toxic sweaty players even if you say otherwise, and FYI hitting a survivor on hook gives survivors more time to do gens and hurts the killer even more. If tunneling and camping is a viable strategy then so is tbagging. do you often see killers letting go of survivors after they get hooked in high mmr?

    ...

    Huh?

Tunneling and camping aren't BM. You aren't trying to shake someone up IRL to make them tilt. You're just being cheesy.

Facecamping at high MMR generally means you're okay with getting 1, maybe 2 kills max. At high MMR, camping is usually less rigid.

Tunneling is just...how this game works. Trying to 2 hook everyone before you kill them and not chasing someone because you haven't 2 hooked someone else yet is basically going to lose you the game.

Strobing and BMing the killer is the equivalent of the killer hitting you on hook, or deliberately bleeding you out. It's just being nasty.

if tunneling and camping is your way of showing hate then survivors aren't unjustified if they tbag you at the gate. killers shouldn't be excused either from receiving hate. everyone gets hate in this game no exceptions.

    I'm not 'showing hate'.

If you want to teabag and strobe your flashlight, I'm going to assume that you want to play a no-holds barred game and adjust accordingly.

There is a difference between 'you showed me disrespect, so I'm going to return the favor' and 'all killers should be punished and made miserable for playing killer because another killer did something I didn't like three months ago'. We got past the idea of collective punishments in the 19th century.

If anything, we need less 'hate' in this game.

    Why are you promoting hate?

I've been having a great time with her, new main for sure. Don't know why a lot of people have been struggling with her, most of my games have been consistent 2-3ks.

You got a stream, or maybe some VODs?

Because she was mediocre at first, and now that I've played a lot of matches with her and pushed her a bit higher MMR wise - she's about on par with Pig. She's pretty good at shattering less coordinated groups, but when you run into people who send you to Badham or Eyrie and know how to make you work for every hit, she's pretty bad.

The major issue is that she does...basically nothing that another killer can't do better.

    @PeaceNGrease said:

Tbh it's kind of hard to tell right now, and I don't blame people for considering her weak because she is kind of strange.... But I think she is absolutely a good killer, not amazing, but she has some spice. I've been mixing things up with demanifesting and it really is a good tool to ######### people over big time.

I can almost always force a bad reaction out of a survivor in situations that would otherwise never happen, like at L T walls, she can get consistent hits that other killers have to pray their mindgame will work at.

Her TV's are pretty RNG, and thus can make you gun shy in using them, but in my opinion it is never a bad idea to use them in chase, especially at loops, as even if you don't get the exact angle you hope for on them, you have to remember, they do not know where your tv is in relation to them without being in 16 meters of it. They can't possibly know what angle you will approach from, and I have litterally trapped people into my body by predicting their long range pathing (with the use of BBQ and other notifications). It is honestly nuts what I pull of some games with her, she is definitely not that weak.

    I don't know.

TVs can be...okay, or can be completely useless. They are incredibly RNG, and smart survivors are learning to anticipate her teleports and just 180. And if you do succeed - you still probably need a second hit, and now that TV is disabled for a huge chunk of time.

Her phasing...I know that when I play against her, it's not hard to tell where she is or where she's going, even if people are savvy about timing her phases to mindgame. Watching some high MMR people play her - I'm seeing about the same reaction (or rather, lack of reaction) from survivors.

I'm not saying she can't do well. People have done 50 win streaks on pre-rework Trapper.

I am saying that she just doesn't really work with the way this game is played in 2022.

I am sorry, what? How did we end up talking about hacks and bug exploits from t-bag/emoting?

You said 'it's about winning by any means necessary'.

There are plenty of restrictions on what you can and can't do to win in this game.

As you said I don't waste my time walking up to killer t-bag to get their attention. I only tbag if the killer happens to chase me and I pallet stun the killer or killer misses hit while I'm vaulting a window. Some killers end up losing it and chasing me for 5 gens XD

I think you vastly overestimate how much this works on people.

For me, all it does is irritate me, and I'll go from my usual chill 'yeah these were fun survivors, I'll probably give the last one or two hatch or gate' to 'okay, you all die now'.

I'll wait till I catch you in a better spot, whittling down your team in the meanwhile. Then I'll down you, hook you, probably proxy and then tunnel you out of the game. If I can, I'll probably bleed you out too.

And best of all, I'll remember you - so the next time I see you, you're getting the strongest addons and offerings I have.

Then you'll make a post on the forums complaining about being tunneled and camped and using it as a weaselly justification for continuing to be obnoxious ingame. Much as you did in this thread.

Nah. Even after the nerfs he still has the highest kill rate. Likely due to the fact that the box is slowdown and can be very oppressive when chain hunts keep happening.

These numbers are completely thrown off by newer players, much as Nurse has a sub 50% kill rate on the 'official' stats.

    @luvcraft said:

Update: I think I just had the wrong loadout. After remembering that all his nerfs were specifically because he was OP with Franklin's and Hoarder, I switched to a loadout with Hoarder (but no Franklins) and am now doing much better.

This really seems like a huge oversight that they didn't think of how his power would synergize with perks when they designed him, and I think it was a bad idea to nerf him in ways that would hurt people who didn't use those synergies more than people who did.

Honestly, don't bother with Hoarder. Unless you're on a tiny map, it won't buy you enough time to pressure the box unless you're already able to predict it's spawn location - in which case you don't really need Hoarder.

You'd be much better off with info (Discordance is never a bad perk), lethality (Devour is great on him, plus his mori is one of the best in the game) or regression (PR+DMS is amazing on him).

    No, no it isn't.

    You can't hack.

    You can't use stretched res.

    You can't DDOS.

    You can't use exploits.

Hell, even if you want to keep it based on language, you can't make threats or use slurs to rattle another player.

BHVR limits what you can do in the game for the good of the game, because the internet has evolved considerably since the 90s.

If there was one phrase that I wish the current generation would delete from their lexicon, it would be 'by any means necessary'. Anyone using that phrase isn't someone to be given the benefit of the doubt.

Oh, are killers moving onto the "Survivors are deliberately trying to kill people irl" as for the reason survivors flashlight click? lmao

It's on the person with epilepsy to avoid things that can cause seizures, should the game have a warning? Absolutely, are you going to guilt trip me into not using fire crackers and flashlights because people are playing something their doctor would likely recommend against playing? Not at all.

    See: here's the thing.

A single bright flash doesn't set off seizures. It's a strobing effect, which is augmented by noxious stimuli - ie. the clicking.

I have mild photosensitivity issues stemming from a concussion some years back. I can handle all manner of games without issue (alongside this, only 2 games have given me any trouble since the accident), but flashlight macros genuinely do mess with me.

I've had survivors in postgame say that they genuinely hope they can give someone an actual seizure someday.

There's a difference between using something ingame as intended, and going out of your way to abuse it with the sole purpose of hurting someone.

  • @BlackRabies said:

Why is deliberately trying to provoke a seizure or mess with photosensitive players any sort of valid strategy?

I'm still learning but I have to say that I have a lot of fun playing her. I started practicing with her and I'm already getting 4K after 4K with her. I'm still using the Plaid Flannel Addon because I'm still learning, but out of 30 games i had 3 games without a 4K. I played against some really good survivors and had some really close games. I'm still not great when going against her but I feel like I'm already getting a lot better since I play her myself.

I really want to play without the Plaid Flannel addon but I feel like I'm not ready to do that yet. That's why I have a question: Do I need to stop using this addon or should I keep using it until I feel like I'm ready to play without?

I'm affraid if i keep using it I can't ever play without it anymore. Does anyone have tips how to do this? Please let me know what I should do! Thank you!🤗

    In essence:

    • Don't try to lead survivors. Your first blink takes you to where you last saw them (if they are out of LOS) or just past them (if you can see them). Adjust with your second blink.
    • Don't panic if you whiff, reorient yourself to the survivor, charge both while moving in that direction and go in again.

Some Survivor mains are only upset about survivor perks because they never had to play as one of the Killers, which all play differently compared to Survivor, and are overall harder to learn.

Thats why they get upset so easily over Survivor perks being balanced, which is what Boiled Over is finally after the insane, abusable buff it had. Before that, it was worthless. Now I'm seeing it used in some builds, including ones I use when playing survivor.

I use BO quite a bit and I definitely get value out of it. If you keep hook locations in mind and ensure you go down as far as possible from them (in a structure if you can), you'll get plenty of escapes.

Before the change, it was such a horror show that I ended up playing survivor for a week.

That said - it is easy to underestimate how difficult it can be to learn survivor too. I'd say that for new players, killers have the upper hand. At intermediate MMRs, survivors tend to have it easier. At the top of the ladder, things seem fairly even.

  • @luvcraft said:

Now that everyone's gotten used to Pinhead I feel like he's dropped to the bottom of the killer tier, especially against SWF. After taking a break from DBD for a while I just had three games as Pinhead with zero kills, and wondering if I was losing my touch I played three games as Doc with no add-ons and got 4k on all of them.

I hope they at least go back to his pre-nerfed add-ons. Those won't help much against SWFs who are keeping an eye on the box, but they'll help a little.

The biggest issue is that survivors have figured out how useless his chains are, so they aren't afraid of them anymore, and they've gotten much better at keeping up with the box.

    Eh.

Cenobite is...fine. I'll admit that I overreacted to his addon nerfs (they were a bit much, but didn't destroy him). He's not crazy powerful, but he's a comfortable mid 'B' tier.

Chains are far from useless. They are a bit crap on indoor maps, but you can do all sorts of cool tricks with them - snare someone as they drop a pallet and you can often trick/force them to slowvault it back towards you. Aim at their feet with the initial portal and even if you miss, you incur almost no penalty as the chain will hit the ground very quickly.

The trick with the box is to anticipate it's spawn location and either check, or predict when survivors will go and solve it - and use this to ambush them (a single down + cube pickup can win the game right there).

I've had a lot of luck with these builds:

    • Plaything + Pentimento/Retribution + Pain Resonance + Dead Man's Switch. Overwhelm them with secondary objectives while blocking gens. DMS is nutty on him, as you can interrupt people at gens with chains. Throw in the box iri, and this one is nasty.
    • Ruin+Undying+Devour Hope+Haunted Ground. Similar principle. 2-3 separate chances for instadowns, minimum.

And then don't use their ability. They just stand there.

Why didn't you just play the high lethality ones?

Can someone explain this to me. Thank you.

I'll answer this with an anecdote.

When I first started out, I camped on basically everyone. I didn't realize that it was considered cheesy - it just struck me as an effective tactic. Which it is.

A lot of the time, killers get frustrated at being looped to pieces and so they resort to camping.

  • @MonsterInMyMind said:

Okay, so let's get right into it let's face it, the variety of Killers in this game is actually the communities fault allow me to explain.

Freddy my good ole Freddy he got his rework in which sure they took what made Old Freddy fun away but he was viable he had the ability to compete against Survivors and sure his addons were somewhat broken and were nerfed but his Dream Pallet addon was fine but guess what nerfed oh lets not forget the dream snare addons nerfed but wait lets not forget the nerf to his actual basekit snares guys the slow was too much meanwhile clown spamming bottles with one addon slows twice the speed at which Freddy's snares do.

Hillbilly, good ole Billy, my first ever main boy, did they just spit on your whole kit. Okay, so what made old Hillbilly so "OP" was his insta saw addons which were an issue, they were nerfed, but here came Behavior listening to a "bright" idea from reddit to add an "overheat" mechanic, or as I like to call it a mistake this is just another example of a completely fine killer ruined because of the community not wanting competition.

Lets go to yet another example, Wraith, which was heavily complained about but seems that's died out since Nurse and Blight became the new complaint.

Huntress is also another heavily complained about Killer "wah her hitboxes don't make sense" when it's been explained thousands of times ping is always gonna make it look jank but your hitbox as a survivor is an entire rectangle, so it does make sense as well as the lag on your hitbox moving when you go behind something.

Notice the trend is also now aimed at Nurse and Blight because they're deemed to be the only Killers who can somewhat avoid game mechanics and get fast downs in chases meaning they can compete against gen speed. Notice how they want these Killers nerfed because "no variety" while not taking into account the fact anytime Behavior buffs a Killer to be good it's instantly whined about and nerfed, the trend has gotta stop, you want more variety, here's an idea stop crying about every Killer that's buffed that's why there's only 3 Killers played. I'm not saying they don't have problems. I'm simply pointing out why they're played.

This isn't a us vs them it's a community we need to stop crying about every single somewhat good Killer that comes out or we'll just continue down this road of Nurse and Blight which let's be honest Behavior isn't ever gonna nerf Nurse more then they have nothing will ever make Nurse not the best Killer in the game she's a literal cheat code. Blight sure they'll take away the Hug Tech and Blight mains will cry for a day and realize it does nothing to the Killer what so ever, and he'll still be just as good as before, and just as complained about.

I'm gonna end this one off with Behavior you claimed you'd never do Freddy dirty again, and that you learned so if you learned how in the world is his power still completely trash his blood pools are awful better off playing Clown to get consistent slowing effect Dream pallets are meh against people on comms you did exactly what you said you'd never do nerf him back into oblivion he's playable but an overrated M1 killer with a teleport big whoop I can say that I played the Killer since long before his rework and still do.

    Yeah, it's tricky.

I have no idea why Nurse and Blight have only really seen buffs.

I also have no idea why Pig, Clown, Legion and co. have been allowed to be this crap for so long.

Huntress is fine. She's about where she should be.

Let me change what I said…

If you are good with Nurse you plain out just win if you have her busted range add-ons (especially now because she’s bugged). Same goes with Blight and Spirit’s busted add-ons.

Nurse players who are really good win 95% of their matches with no fear of losing and that’s what turns me off about Nurse. I like playing DBD and Nurse plays her own game.

And hasn’t Otz said that he wasn’t the greatest with Nurse? He’s a very good killer don’t get me wrong, but he never claimed to be great with Nurse.

    95%?

I...sort of doubt that, unless they are running those addons *every game*.

Yes, Otz isn't the best Nurse player in the world. But he's still better than the vast, vast majority of Nurses in the game.

But yes, I find Nurse very tedious, despite her power. She's a one trick pony with a suitcase nuke.

  • @CashelP14 said:

I genuinely think the new killer is underrated. I wouldn't put her lower than B tier.

    Why, out of interest?

I've played just over 100 games with her, and am pretty confident in saying that nearly everything she can do, other killers can do better and more consistently.

Now that people know what to expect, she has the Wraith issue of being able to find chases fast, but taking a very long time to close them out.

Alright I see your point. Most Spirits I see make me think she's B Tier but I feel like in your hands she could be A tier. She definitely still has a lot of potential and high skill ceiling.

She's a weird killer in that you never really feel powerful. Spirit for me tends to feel like a bloody battle of attrition - until I realize that there's one survivor left with 3 gens remaining.

Her ability to turn a hit into a down is amazing, and she can cover a lot of distance really fast.

    @[Deleted User] said:

Twins, Spirit, and Hag should be higher. CoH is annoying, but it's almost a non-factor for Hag and Twins if you run Forced Penance.

And Spirit is the 3rd best killer in the game still. Third in SS tier or first in S. Like CoH, Iron Will is annoying. I don't even think it should be a perk. But it doesn't break Spirit if you adapt for it.

    Not sure about Twins.

Twins can get hard countered by DH and they're just so damn clunky.

They feel like a good counter-SWF killer because they feed on altruism. A team that is comfortable letting one person stay slugged for a bit and uses DH well makes Twins feel awful.

  • @deKlaw_04 said:

People say this guy is weak but he’s just way to overpowered. He exposes the survivors so fast and can down them with ease. His movement speed too. there is also no counter play when he 99s his tier 3 and uses it on you. And let’s not forget his two busted addons. He needs a heavy nerf or reinstate haddonfield

    Not sure if serious lol.

That said - addons, yes. Tuft and Piece are ridiculous.

Aside from them, his gimmick addons (mirrors) should be yellow at best. His stalking speed ones are mostly useless. His purple T3 extension addon and his green T3 extension addon need to trade places (the green is better than the purple).

He struggles on maps with corn, or anything that has open approaches and strong pallets.

Pinhead I could definitely give a shot at trying.

I am on console but I’ve seen good console Nurse players and I really don’t think it would be as hard as people think to play her on console. Just sinking in many hours playing her seems so tedious and not to mention that once you are good with her there is just no competition. You just….win. No fear of anything. It seems so boring.

She's not quite as bonkers as people make her out to be - the issue is that some of her addons are straight busted on top of a very strong kit (Blight has the same issue).

Nurse isn't a killer you 2k on. You either 4k or 0k, as above a certain MMR every survivor has played against a dozen nurses better than you are. She's...streaky.

Watch Otz's Nurse streak if you want to see what I mean. He had an easier time with Doctor.

The major reason I don't play much Nurse is that her mechanics don't translate well to other killers, and after a few days on Nurse I'll find that I'm much worse on anyone that isn't Nurse.

Pinhead is definitely worth a try. He's hard to play and not the most powerful killer in the game, but he's fun. Landing a god-tier chain is an amazing feeling (my absolute finest moment was curving a chain through shack door, out shack window and interrupting a survivor solving the cube outside).

Honestly, I respect that. I knew the Artist was good but I haven't seen a lot of people master her yet. I gave Trickster A tier because of the fact he's less bothered by Circle of Healing than most Killers and has a camping prowess that rivals Bubba. But yeah when Trickster is bad he's BAD. Demo is tough because he is less and less picked so its hard to get a good gauge of him as the game progresses past his retirement.

Freddy, Legion and Ghost Face are all pretty weak they're in C-Tier for not having a strong chase power and being more weakened by Circle of Healing than average. All of them used to thrive with hit and run tactics

Camping Trickster is still the same as camping Bubba. He'll get 1k, maybe 2 and that's it. If it's high MMR play, people will just slam out gens and get out.

CoH is obnoxious, but I find that it's only truly painful on attrition based killers.

Artist - Otz managed a 30 streak on her, and under SBMM - that's quite an achievement. And he doesn't fully abuse DMS or run BBQ/MS on her (which turn her into a force of nature).

Legion I'd say 'D' tier. He was bad before and sucks worse now, CoH destroys him.

Ghostface has some issues, but his ability to instadown and a very strong camp makes him pretty decent into CoH. He used to struggle at higher MMRs as so many people ran stretched res, but they don't now. I play a decent GF and CoH doesn't scare me. Corn scares me.

Freddy I'd almost want to send to 'D' tier, simply because he's so one dimensional and predictable.

There is always some kind of mistake and punishment for messing up your power.

Blight has to wait for his rushes to come back.

    Bubba has charges.

    Artist has a cooldown.

Huntress has to refill her hatchets at lockers as well as Trickster refilling blades.

Nurse has charges and a fatigue.

Oni and Plague sometimes might not even get any value out of their power due to stealth.

Yes Spirit has a 15 second cooldown but most decent Spirit players don’t use their entire power gauge. Most do short phasing bursts. Plus even if she is a 110% at loops, her passive phasing can throw survivors off.

And survivors DO have more information on her like directional phasing but she is moving way too fast for them to react picture perfect all of the time.

I agree - but Plague right now plays best with a lot of info perks. Retribution+Plaything+Pentimento is gorgeous on her.

    Passive phasing...nah, not really.

I'd put Spirit as a solid 'A' tier killer, probably in the middle of the pack. She isn't as oppressive as Artist can be and doesn't have Plague's snowball, but she's still a great killer.
