Hold W, heal fast, crank out gens, lock lockers (lock dual lockers 1 at a time).

He's basically an M1 killer. He kinda sucks. People learned him quick.

"learned". There's not much to learn you just need to get the hang of the controls. He's a M1 Killer with Teleport, Map Pressure, Anti Loop so basically like a nurse without the exact teleportion. Little to no counterplay too but he's far too easy to learn in comparison to nurse. I really like playing him because it's so easy to 4k but facing him is a literal nightmare

  • @Jaxton2000 said:

Dredge has recently become a killer that has finally stumped me. I know people hate playing against nurse, but for some reason I can dodge nurse like a literal god and have no issues ever facing nurse... naturally gifted with specifically nurse I guess.

DREDGE though... He is the first killer I have truly every felt giving up on. He has incredible control over basically every area of the map, and under a chase he has incredible ability to basically stop you from looping him.

He is such, such a hard killer for me to go against, whenever I see someone playing as dredge I just instantly give up and play the game like a thumb.

Same. I can run a nurse for straight up 5 gens but the dredge just isn't outplayable (for me at least). I still think people bragging more about how they loop him than they actually did. The chases really don't last that long

  • @INoLuv said:

Predrop pallets, hold w, camp pallets, the same as usual with must killers, at the end dredge is just as overrated as the artist

Both are as annoying to face as the other

  • Cakes, Blood rush and the upcoming overhauled prestige system will just lessen by a really smol amount the grind this game has. It seems like a huge amount but if you think about how 1m BP doesn't even bring 1 Character from Level 1 to Level 50 it's just awful und demotivating. So those people who hoard those kind of offerings just want the illusion they lessened the grind. Don't hate the player hate the game.

  • Minecraft update: This looks interesting..

Dead By Daylight Update: Is it worth it?

It's funny how the community reflects the way of thinking from the devs

  • I'm surprised that Iron will is about to get rework too. I just hope they add in the breathing noises, it's really the only thing that's bothering me with this perk. I'm curious on how they want to approach the other meta perks. I don't get what the Summer 22 Update is meant to be. I thought this upcoming update for today was meant to be a summer update because it's technically summer

  • They should never do that. In fact i think if you're good with nurse you deserve to play her. Everytime i play Nurse it's because i'm tired of those bad manners that survivors have. Something just snaps. And i don't think i'm alone with this mindset.

they alrdy doing that and have been for awhile, Spirit bots are like 2 years old

Great. BHVR really needs to fix a bunch of things. At least they're on to a good start with some QoL Features and an overhaul of the grind. They really should get some cheats themselfes or something similar in order to patch them faster. It's funny how TF2 had a problem with bots since two years too.

  • @pseudechis said:

They announced custom game bots. I’m hanging out for that.

Sounds like something coders won't ignore. Wouldn't surprise me when this gets out of hands and coders steal this AI just to make it an "Auto Win" feature

I'm just saying if you want to survive then you gotta run meta perks. They are meta and popular for very good reasons. The perk pool is not balanced in the slightest. There are no off-meta perks that are secretly viable. Devs appear to agree with this.

You'll be continually disappointed if you don't run meta but also expect to win regularly. That's just the truth with this game.

So if you still don't want to run meta then i would stop caring the result of the match. Maybe do some archive challenges. Or just do what i do and play each role once per day for the daily exp bonus (which you get regardless of the result of the match), so i can get shards for new characters and cosmetics.

The Devs sure as hell don't play the game.

It's bothering me that i either win every match (when using meta) or lose every match (when not). Like there's not in between. At least nothing that i knew of.

At least i'm playing both roles a day. Seems like that's the only way to play this game now, playing 1 match a day for each role just for shards. I think we're doing a pretty good job so far

Well, it is pretty cool. But it's really not very helpful if you're trying to escape. If you don't wanna run meta then expect to lose a lot before you get to an MMR where you don't need meta.

So in order to have fun in this game i have to lose. This is not very helpful. I doubt the fact that the MMR is working btw.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Why are you playing without meta perks?

Pebble is more fun than any of the meta perks combined. Just to state an example

  • This sounds very demoralizing for a stealth build on legion. While I could imagine that most rounds the obsession wouldn't understand what's going on and you would benefit from it, the actual function of the meme build is pretty bad. Too bad.

  • I call someone sweaty when there're 5 gens left and the killer starts slugging. I get it, you're skilled but this isn't even fun. There's not even a reward for it, in fact you get less bloodpoints because the round was so short.

  • Nice to hear about people getting used to other perks aswell, every lobby i'm in has like at least 3 meta perks on everyone

at least nobody is expecting the pebble i guess

  • Really depends on the player itself. On weekends when things start to get really sweaty i really hate her. Midweek not so much.

  • As VaJaybles mentioned it in my thread the game is in a vicious cycle when it comes to specific perks.

  • @VaJaybles said:

It's that vicious cycle. "Could've escaped/killed had I had xyz perk" next match run meta. It's difficult to get out of that mindset and be okay with losing (whatever that term means to you)

All my survivors run different builds that break the meta (except meg, she's my 2nd chance build)

    Examples

    Power struggle build

    Healing build (I love autodidact)

Foot fetish build (perk icon has picture of feet)

And I just cycle through my survivors as I play

Most people just want to escape or kill no matter what. Depending on which side is played, it counts as a win or a lose. True to the motto: I do as the MMR says

I'm also preparing a few more outside meta builds right now, there's really a lot of options if you want them to. Interesting idea with the foot fetish build, just put something together using the icons.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Yeah it's my main issue with the game, perk variety holds it back quite a bit in my opinion. However they are actually focusing on it they are just a bit slow. For example The Death slinger used to have some of the worst teachable but now all of them are actually quiite good, dead mans switch going from probably one of the worst perks in the game to one of the best.

While it's nice to see the nearly despised perks getting some attention, changing the meta isn't really a solution. there will always be a meta, and it will always be boring and rigid. The problem is not that there is a meta, in my opinion, the problem is that there is hardly anything else.

  • I'm actually happy that they're basic perks. I can trade my shards for bloodpoints

  • Killers should have a perk named "Die Hard": you can insta-mori everyone (like tombstone myers) who's having dead hard or CoH equipped.

  • I see more and more facecamping bubbas lately, that's why i bring kindred. Set yourself another goal than just escaping tho, you can't win every trial. I'll mostly see how much flashbangs i can make or how many pebbles i can throw in a single trial.

  • You guys have friends?

  • @SilentShepherd said:

I have said this over and over. The devs don't seem to understand that they need to value FUN FACTOR when designing -anything- in DBD.

It needs to be fun for both sides.

The Nurse is a toxic anti-fun killer. She breaks one of the core basic tenets of the game - which in my opinion is THE most fun thing about this game - the chase. Nurse just goes through walls, pallets, it's just dumb.

The Doctor is another toxic anti-fun killer. He breaks another core tenet of the game - the patrol portion. No point in hiding, Doctor just AOE and boom finds you.

I agree with the Fun Factor thing. But no killer is toxic on it's own, it's always the player who plays it. I find the chases with her are really somewhat different. She's jukeable like no other killer imo. Once you realise that you as a survivor are having a hitbox where she can't teleport into things start to be quite fun. The most unsafe loops become really safe.

The doctor is quite fun to juke too tbf. You can hear when he's about to blast (no pun intended) and when you're inside a locker as soon as he blasts the most time he will not look into the lockers and just assume noones there. A doctor will never check the lockers except it's only 1 survivor left for example and he knows the survivor must be nearby, he starts to get sus.

You guys really need to play some more killer or at least watch some videos about their weaknesses, dear lord.

ignoring high mmr exists? if u are at high mmr the amoubnt of times youll face nurses is unreal, and they are there with the full gen regress + addons and they are all good, 90% of times u lose if u play solo and maybe u will get a chance to win if u play on a good 4 man all meta and a good map for u, unless all survivors are idk insane and she makes some mistakes and get nervous but other than that... u will lose most times, she is the anti fun in this game, rather go against 5 twins in a row than a nurse who actually knows how to play her to the max wich happens a lot in high mmr, them having many thousand hours in the game consistently and oftenly the same people over and over again u go agaisnt so the killer repeats a lot. of 5 matches yesterday 3 were nurses... i got disgusted and left the game after 1h or so

Oh yes, the mmr.. everybody knows about it, doesn't know where they at in the mmr but apparently everyone is in the top 1% of the MMR.

And then there are 4 survivors with a total of 16 perks. As it should be in an asymmetric multiplayer game.

Should I also share how as a Nurse I got 3 CoH, 4 Dh, 4 DS & 4 BT abuser & 1 with iron will face in a single round, multiple times in a row? And how are the rounds? How much casual play is there left?

I would also rather run meme builds than the meta but then I might as well just stand in the corner and do nothing. Sure it's just a game but nobody plays games to lose. If Survivor went on a locker build I would equip Iron Maiden. I just adapt to my environment.

Problem is simply that the meta is too reliable and inexhaustible. But that's another topic.

In fact the Nurse is what was to come, were she to be nerfed she would still probably be godlike in the right hands, again as any other killer in the right hands. However, the old Nurse would then be replaced, with other killers who can rule mostly every game. And we all know, no matter who it will be, that this killer should be nerfed again. Every perk and every killer has a weakness, why pretend it's impossible to fight it? Challenges are what make the game so special, everything else would be boring.

If you really want to have the feeling of something disgusting then I hope you soon find instead of a nurse a facecamping Basement Bubba with Insidious who sets you as the first target multiple times in a row. You soon wish there was a nurse.

  • Aren't we getting to a point where nerfing the nurse will just end up making her played by those & only those who are already pros at her? So What? What'll change? Suiciding on hook everytime you'll face a nurse because there're no bad ones are around anymore because she's too hard to play? She already has the highest skill ceiling, the most nerfs besides the memes (pig, twins ect.) and prolly the most gimmicky yet expensive add ons in the game (anxious gasp f.e. green rarity, only a gimmick for bloodpoints). Looping wasn't intented to be a game mechanic so don't be mad about not to be able to loop her. I can't even blame people for wanting to learn her. Getting into a match the first time as a killer is extremly stressful. Hearing 2 Boons light up, 1 clicky clicky and at the end they end up spamming notifications by fast vaulting. If survivors use meta they should never expect the killer not to be meta too.

"God Nurse" - as if you encounter one so often that it messes up the whole game for you. Just like the killers say they only play against toxic bully depip squads.

Btw a god nurse can still be outplayed. Of course in soloQ it's harder than in a swf but that goes for every killer.

What exactly do you want them to do?

Facecamping sucks, but 'fixing it' is very complicated.

If you want to prevent killers from chasing/killing people unless they've got 2 hooks on everyone, you'd need to buff every single killer to a ridiculous level to compensate.

What exactly do I want them to do? I don't want to see these people getting PointsInProgress; be rewarded at the end of the season for their toxic behavior and it makes me take longer to collect PointsInProgress because such players take these points from me. One of the Bubbas even had Thana in it, meaning I couldn't even finish the gens, even with my teammates.

There may be a variety of reasons why these players play like this: boons, toxic swfs, insults - the list is endless. I'm not saying that these aren't problems, but these are really problems that are difficult to tackle & solve because people are very reactive.

However, that doesn't change the fact that these players are rewarded for doing this.

  • I had 2 Camping Bubbas in a row now. Behold bubba is getting meta now. Literally need to take a break, the killers before were hard tunneling. Thanks bhvr for encouraging this

  • You forgot boons.

Last trial i had 3 boons across the map.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Because it's boring and unrewarding. The matches you spend camping are not memorable. The matches where for instance, you get 5 stacks of devour and mori everyone are certainly memorable.

Hex get cleansed in the current meta. But you can't use your Boon on Hook. Unrewarding? Not in the slightest! My BBQ Stacks are maxed out

  • @ChurchofPig said:

On other platforms it's even worse. On Switch (my main platform) the game will flat out freeze for at least 5 seconds every round at some point without fail. Seriously, the optimization of this game is beyond horrific.

I've seen trials from around 2016, when the graphics were really low but extremly vibey. How did they fudge it up so badly that the vibe is gone in addition to my frames?! Anyway. What can i do about the frame skips?

  • @cordonrouge said:

seriously. why should i get stressed being looped for hours and applying non existant pressure because of healing when i can just sit on a hook and then grab another survivor to slug. it's literally so easy and it's a guaranteed 2k at the very least, if not more.

This dude just broke the survivor meta. You can't heal if you're already dead.

  • Noed. But only on Sadako. Imagine insta-downs & more movement speed on a killer which is already at 4.6 who can teleport anyway.

  • I catch the 3rd, down him & wait for the other to heal him. As soon as he gets up again i know where to look out for both. I don't recommend doing this because it's kind of unnecessary stress. I just do it to get even better landing my blinks with nurse.

  • I tried Omegablink Nurse maybe 2-4 times it's really strong tbh. As much as i love my Sally she isn't in need of anything like Omegablink. I mostly use the Anxious Gasp Add on and the Dark Cincture which is nice & fun. But kill switching the Nurse again because of Omegablink sounds a bit salty if you ask me. Those Add Ons are quite Rare in the bloodweb & on top of that cost quite a bit so it's not like you could do 1 trial and get those add ons back from the Bloodpoints you earn. Even with BBQ it can become really expensive.

  • @Breadn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2847910#Comment_2847910

So you're saying that it should be moved to a different rarity? That I agree with.

Lol, isn't rarity also what makes it more common in the bloodweb? But nice to see that you agree with me, gimmick addons should never cost 5000 BP

  • @Breadn said:

It should appear just as often as other add-ons, like it already does. This is a ridiculous question.

How ridiculous? Judging by your answer, this add-on has a relatively high value. I just don't think the add on should be green but rather yellow/brown.

  • Iri Grades are easier to get but it's much more stressful to play as killer imho

  • @malloymk said:

Funny you should say this. I ran soul guard for the first time in ages for a few games yesterday. Played against a huntress who had noed. She slugged the first guy, so as I went to look for the totem she downed me as well and immediately picked me up. Doh!

Oh well. Not hating noed or saying you're wrong about soul guard. Just thought it was funny.

I've faced the same problem once or twice haha, but when i started using "Tenacity" it seems to calm down the killers that I'm crawling instead of recovering. Of course, it doesn't work for all killers, but it increases the chances.

  • Stop complaining about NOED and start using Soul Guard, the most NOED-Killers are greedy and start slugging most of the time so you should be fine with it

  • @danielmaster87 said:

What recent development HASN'T been a bad sign for the future of the game?

Fixing Stretch Res. Not everything the devs do is bad but they're not listening to the community or else stretch res would have been fixed sooner.

  • I first encountered a hacker when I was playing Killer. It was annoying. When I found a survivor, the hacker always hooked himself in front of me or (once he found me) locked me in a corner (again with a fake hook) for the whole trial.

When I was playing Survivor (just now) the killer seemed to play normally at first but when he couldn't hook anyone & the gens we're about to get finished he teleported to everyone and of course won. It was, of course, a non-Steam player. Without proper server-side player validation, this game may soon suffer the same fate as GTA Online: a hacker in every lobby just waiting for another hacker to make the first move to say "I'm only hacking to defend myself "

It was totally irresponsible of BHVR to make this game available for free for a week.

I know there is an option to switch off cross-play, but then the waiting times (at least in the EU) are too long for me to actually be able to play the game more than i spend time waiting for lobbys.

  • "Game is grindy indeed"

"We hand out bonus bloodpoints (codes) which ignore the cap, we might aswell higher the cap"

"Perk tiers will not be removed, no reason to it"

A casual game shouldn't be that grindy if it wants to keep their playerbase. Playing hundreds upon hundreds of hours and not getting a character with all perks T3 is more than just frustrating. I wish the devs would play their game on a regular base at least, just to see what's going on. They wouldn't have to ignore the community anymore because they'd finally see what we see.

Lowered my MMR to get matched with non-hacking players is a meta bigbrain-gamer-move in this game.

    BUT

"I think we're doing a pretty good job so far"

I shouldn't talk so much about the flaws or else i'm getting my cosmetics removed too.

  • Idk what i would change but i know that No Mither def. needs a change

  • I P3 1 Survivor because i play with her (Cheryl) the most, the second one will be Ace because i really love a outfit i got for him. As soon as a Survivor is at P3 you don't have to worry about it anymore. At some day there will be the moment where you got some bloodpoints left and you can only spend them on a character P1 with all Perks at Tier 3. You'll just regret the grind doing all the work for making the Perks Tier 3 after you realise you have to do it again.

So choose wisely at first but sooner or later you'll P3 them all.

  • Tbf none of them are really op. But Artist can get frustrating to play against sometimes. Encourages the aggressive playstyle some 4 man swf play because you can't really hide. Pyramid Head is still hard to handle while using his powers even tho he's strong that's what's balancing him out imho. Pinhead is just straight up fun to play & to play against, except when in solo q survivor - then he raises hell upon all survivor because of the "I fix thix gen the other ones do the cube" mentality

  • Hell no. It's the only counter we have against spirit. As soon as Iron Will gets a nerf we can just guess what's going on.

  • Interesting formulation of the answers. Sounds a bit biased.

Anyway, dead hard is fine the way it is. There should still be a QOL feature to turn aim lock on/off, I'm often disoriented when a survivor uses dead hard.

  • @Aurelle said:

I think it's fine. It's supposed to be a high risk, high reward perk.

What is the high reward? The nonexistent pools of blood are useless without a complete reduction in grunts of pain and being able to recover (faster) from the dying state is also useless due to Unbreakable & Soul Guard. What high reward does one get from being downed in one-hit? I don't quite see it yet.

  • @JonahsTablet said:

They should nerf current Dead Hard but make the current version part of No-Mither, us David players exist and we have needs.

No Mither is truly that one perk that needs a rework. When everyone is using second chance perks what about those using 0 chance perks?
