Killer mains: Nerf DS
Myself is a killer main too. I dont have anything wrong with DS though. Dont tunnel and i think you'll be fine
What am I supposed to do, LET them unhook their friend?
-
What held me back the most was the no camping or tunneling under any circumstance. I always felt bad if I did it, but, it is simply efficient to tunnel. Camping only works if the survivors are uber altrustic.
-
@bendermac said:
All stuns are too long. 5 seconds is overkill. I agree with a max of 3 seconds.
I'd be fine with it being 5 seconds if DS reset upon hooking another Survivor. That way, it only punishes real tunneling and doesn't allow the Survivor with it to make stupid plays, such as bum-rushing the hook since they know they have an instant escape.

So I actually think ghost face is quite balanced. The only thing i would take away is telling him where the survivor is that breaks him out of his ability.
He can loose his terror radius and I find my deaths to escapes vs him are balanced. He is so hard to mind game because of his height and hiding red stain. I play the same person multiple times and get mixed games wins vs losses.
The one thing I find an issues is I spot him first and can't break him out of it or I am immersed hiding and I look his way and break him out of his ability and now I am in chase because he wasn't as sneaky as me. That's quite cheap.
Most survivors are up in arms about how strong he is. I don't think he is that bad but it sucks that him skrewing up his ability puts me in danger.
The only Survivors that are up in arms, are the one's that haven't figured out they control his power. He is balanced at green ranks and weak in purple. Hilariously weak at red ranks. The time to knock him out needs to be increased slightly and hooked and downed Survivor's ability to break him out NEEDS to go. He also needs some sort of movement speed buff when in, or out, of his power.

Oh no I don't - I always know when a Myers or Pig is creeping nearby even working on a gen I can hear it. Very distinctive to me. I can even hear the Spirit with prayer beads if I listen close enough.
That's kinda the point. You have to train to listen. With GF, he sounds like a cyclone. Just, tune it down a bit.

I'm curious what system and region you all are playing on and in?
I am on PC and the US-west coast area and usually never have more than a 2-3 minute wait time as killer. Sometimes if I am on really late like 2AM+ it might increase to more than 3 minutes, but day/evening/night doesn't seem bad at all for me.
I'm on Xbox, USA East Coast. 15 minute que. Then another 10 to find people.

@darktrix said:
You'll notice all stealth killers are loud.
Wraith has heavy foot steps.
Pig and Myers have very loud breathing.
Ghost Face's cloak flaps loudly.
Some balance for the total lack of terror radius and red stain. Least you can stalk like Myers from a distance.
Except all the others killers sounds are subtle. You could mistake them for ambient noise or another survivor.

We shouldn’t make balance choices on the premise of “some people can’t counter X” balance choices have to be made while thinking about good players.
@OP I like the idea. :)
If only the game was balanced around good players.

Can anyone recommend any perk builds for Ghost Face?
I use Ruin, BBQ, PGTW and Spirit Fury. Ruin is obviously to slow the game down. BBQ is for info and BP. Pop Goes the Weasel is for when Ruin gets cleansed, the buff made it pretty good. Finally, Spirit Fury is for those pesky pallet loops. Even without Enduring it still gives you plenty of time to get a hit in.
-

Yes, old Mom was OP.
Ruin being a required perk is #########, it needs to be an in-game effect
After playing several Seal Team 6 survive with friends I've decided it's better just to leave the lobby as soon as I see an swf
I usually bring an Ebony and either force them to DC or get a 4k. Then the messages start rolling in about how toxic I am, as they sit there, all running Wake Up with BNP.

I'd rather just blatantly nerf it to the ground. It's far FAR more powerful than offerings are designed to be.
So are instant heals and some toolboxes.

He is awful in red ranks. His power is EASILY canceled. He gets gen rushed. He gets looped very easily. And he sounds like a windtunnel at 8 meters or less, oh and its directional in case you thought you could mindgame.

Been playing for 3 years, and I thought Michael was op in good hands, but still loved the challenge. GH makes Michael look like a baby killer. The stalk is too fast. 2 seconds and you are exposed. Not to mention I do look directly at him and I still get exposed. Another thing that's crap is you can be hiding unseen, and GH walks by, and if you look at him it breaks his shroud...but gives away your location...total BS. I have been found many times because of this and it don't make sense. He should not get a alert in who and where...I don't get one when he is stalking me...after being exposed, most gamers literally get a 8 second run in exposure unless it's a bad killer or a lucky random who had the right paths and moves to make to run longer to keep from getting down. I think only the person being stalked should be able to break it and it should take longer for exposure. Like Michael for instance, His bad azz will stalk you as you run. It's all about strategy not power. Being too op is boring. Everyone will play GH all the time. Obviously he is the best killer in the game as of now. Adjustment is needed desperately. Now bring cosmetics for license killers and survivors. Please baby Jesus do! Plus I tbh am excited about the Freddie buff. Ooo wee bring it on!
You might be even worse than me at this game.

Oh come on people are complaining about ghostface being not Op enough like ######### he is way over OP as it is right now and I think it is a good change to ghostface that they did already but saying that they're getting took out of nightshroud to quickly apparently no they're not they changed it I don't know why they're still complaining about it we have to literally get really close to get them out of nightshroud what more do they want maybe get better at using the killer. thats what we did with the legion people complained about how fast and hard he was but look it takes time to get use to the killer and learn to deal with them and win like all killers have the upper hand like what else do you want done have him were he cant get blinded by a flash light or have the pallets not effect him like come on cry me a river why wont you.
If you think he's OP, then I have some bad news, you aren't very good at the game.

Oh yes, survivors have so much fun when the killers bring their moris and ultra rares in the match, they LOVE when they start repairing a gen and the first skillcheck turns out to be ruin, rank 1 players get euphoric when hearing the sounds of billys chainsaw and the nurses screech because they LOVE going against them every single match, the devs sadly only focus on their fun because poor killer mains really dont matter to them, same reason why they are reworking freddy and the preeschool.
Poor killers will never be able to enjoy a game, oh, poor little things :,(
Perhaps if the devs listened to those "poor killers" Red ranks wouldn't have to deal with Nurse and Billy EVERY game. Ruin is a joke at red ranks. Survivors' perks outclass Killer's perks in every way. To offer a rebuttal, killers love it when Survivors bring toolboxes with BNP. They love it when they bring instant heals and t-bag at pallet loops. They love that by the time they get a down Ruin is gone and two gens are done. They love being endlessly run around loops. Poor poor Survivors, how could they have ever gotten away with only 5 second chance perks. How could they survive without Mettle of Man and Decisive Strike? What were the devs thinking? Poor poor Survivors, Haddonfield's rework is next...

Its funny that you call out inexperienced players wanting changes to make it more playable for them but they first things you listed as good changes were survivor perks you clearly couldn't play around.
I don't have an issue with any previous killer as they are, it is what it is but I'm sorry, the Ghostface stalk needs a little longer to charge, it's pretty much instant and the best example of it being broken is the fact that out of the last say 25 games i've had 24 Ghostface's.
Legion as a killer is just boring as hell to play against.
You didn't have an option to play around old DS or MoM.

Look, we all know it's a problem. It DOES exist. Gens are pretty easy to do and they go by too fast. There needs to be some inhibitor. That being said, this isn't it. But, it's a start, we've ruled out something it cannot be.

@MrsPiggyIsSoSneaky A lot of game companies will disable bugged items. Blizzard has done it, Hi-Rez has done it, SOE (aka Daybreak nowadays) has done it, and so forth.
Behavior not doing it leads me to suspect that the way they've coded their game and database might not have been the best method in hindsight. I remember when SOE assumed control over Matrix Online back around 2005 from the original developer as part of the deal with Warner Bros that gave them the DC Universe MMO license. There were issues with several bugged items in MxO, and SOE was unable to disable them due to how everything was hard-coded into the database by the original studio. Matter of fact, that hard-coding gave them no end of headaches, because fixing bugs often times bugged other sections. The SOE devs were quite vocal about that situation back then.
I believe the term is "spaghetti code." Where everything overlaps and affects other things.

they didn't ban people for using the Pinky Finger add-on on Clown, which they took weeks to fix after it was made widely known the bug existed, so let's stop with this 'the devs are all heavily survivor sided and never think about the killers' BS, please.
It's an issue; it will be addressed and resolved, just as PWYF will be. Perhaps it could be faster, but for all we know they still haven't even found the source of the problem; programming is incredibly complicated.
They banned for Legion blades. This Wake Up exploit is ruining games. PWYF, maybe not. The only reason your code can be SO complicated that you cannot disable a killer or perk or add on is if it is "spaghetti code."

I do not believe that getting downed intentionally is a smart play. I think they are onto something. I'd be okay with DS being an extra second longer stun if it meant that it reset on hooks.

to prevent the tunneling that people like to do with moris, i think requiring the killer to hook every survivor at least once before they can mori anyone would be nice.
I'd settle for making them more rare. Harder to get on the bloodweb. Same with insta heals.

Thanks to the streamers and Fog Whisperers that brought attention to it, almost every Survivor I've played against has been exploiting it. I really do hope they do an announcement like the infinite mend Legion because right now, it REALLY sucks.

Why did you nerf Ghost Face? He already wasn't better than Myers, now there isn't a reason to buy him since his perks are terrible.
-
So I just played a game where I was the last survivor and the killer knew where the hatch was.
I believe they said they are already looking into door spawns and making it more fair. Though, if you got to the Endgame, you shouldn't be favored to win, it should be stacked against you.

Do keep in mind that ghost face doesn't have a red stain when in night shroud, he only produces 8m of noise to warn of his presence.
At the lowest possible terror radius for T2 Myers, by that point, survivors will see Myer's red stain... Unless you like walking backwards, I guess.
Ghost Face can also turn into a pure M1 Killer for 30 seconds if a Survivor sees him. He also sounds like a jet turbine in those 8 meters. Myers is simply the better version.

When playing the game is getting to me, I start memeing and screwing around. Not taking it seriously helps keep it all in perspective. My friend had a great time pretending to work on gens, chasing survivors while crouched as Pig, spamming her roar.
Yeah, I never get nice messages, it'd be cool though. A guy called me a racial slur a few weeks ago and obviously I reported that, he got banned for two weeks. Funnily enough, he came back yesterday and said, "hey, same slur, I'm back. Yeah, not really that cool.

When I was a noob, I kept winning my games against other noobs until I ran into a good group at rank 15. I was Wraith because I thought he was op and they rekt me so hard.. I legit went into a corner and afk mid match. I came back and they were still trying to flashlight me. I sat there wondering if i should dc and unistall.. I didn't, I got better at the game and invested over 2k hours in time. I got super good to where I stayed at rank 1 but once I learned being good didn't matter in this game, I dropped back to rank 15-20. This was before they forced you to stay at rank 15. Once you get the right perk, add-on, and become decent, you can destory those toxic pieces of #########. Don't give up yet don't waste your time or happiness on those POS. Rekt them and leave. If you can't rekt them then remember that this game doesn't reward you for being good.. Just have fun and don't worry about winning, you can still get massive amounts of points even if you lose.
Yeah, I kinda get what your saying. I definitely have a problem with the taunting in game but it's really when they go the extra mile to message me afterwards that gets me. Like, if I get a 4K, I'm not gonna message you and taunt you. And it's not like I've not dealt with this before, it just seems to be so much worse during this event, I've heard from my buddy that people are usually extra "tryhard" during Double BP.

You should have the option to turn of messages from anyone not on your friends list, it was the one condition i made myself enforce when i decided to come back to the game in order to save my sanity. I don't know how it works on xbox but there probably is an option in your privacy settings.
As for this weekend, i feel your pain...from both sides. I'm certainly not saying everyone should farm, but it seems everyone wants to give the biggest "F**k you, you get nothing" to each other. There is a huge difference in game play from both sides so it isn't the normal "Well killers/survivors have to kill/survive" I have been tunnelled/camped/BM'd, Gen rushed, flash lighted and tea bagged more this weekend than in all the time I've played. It's sad, but unfortunately we cannot dictate others behaviour.
The most we can do is put the controller down for a day or so and hope sanity returns when the event is over.
Yeah, I've decided to just take a break until this event is over, then evaluate from there. I think Xbox has something like that, I'll have to look into it.

Not much you can do except move on to the next match and hope it's better. I play mostly as killer. I just play casually and don't mind if I lose a match. Just be nice to em, even if they're being incredibly toxic. In my experience, that's the best way to combat toxicity cause they want to upset you. When you are nice, they failed they're toxic agenda. Hope your next few matches are wholesome. Have a good day. : )
I usually try to ignore them, or respond nicely. Sometimes, I'm afraid, I do let my anger get the better of me. When I ignore them, I usually get spammed with messages or party invites, as I play on Xbox. I wish you all the best in your next matches as well!

@Rivyn said:
Don't read endgame chat. Leave immediately. Let them stew in their own toxicity. It's all you can do. Toxic attitudes are always bred in competitive games, some more than others. More, in this case, as it's usually four survivors. Some figure that if they're toxic, the others will jump on. Strength in numbers and all. Just leave the lobby after match.
I'm terribly sorry, I did forget to mention that I play on Xbox, not on PC. Endgame chat isn't really a thing and Xbox generally only takes notice if profanity or racial slurs are used.

all killers have counterplay except spirit, and nurse (to a degree). nurse has more counterplay than spirit but is much stronger overall
also, who's upset? i didn't realize pointing out a flaw in a killer's design had some sort of emotional backbone to it. maybe i just want the game to be better balanced?
Oh yes, you've clearly want the game to be easier. You realize that the only killer without counter play is Nurse, right? Oh, and here's a tip, this community is pretty divided on EVERYTHING. So, perhaps when 95% of people say, "Yeah, that killer is fine." Maybe, just maybe, you might be wrong. This entire thread and your responses have just been you flaunting your arrogance, refusing to see any other sides than your own. Now, try to tone it down, good day.

This has nothing to do with a free escape, it has something to do with balance. But it looks like you don't know what this word means, look it up and educate yourself.
A killer shouldn't be able to carry a survivor across half of the map to the basement. Right now wiggling is completely useless.
As it very well should be, it is not meant to be a free escape. It is a niche ability.
-
As the title states, the gens in my games have been popping at a ridiculous rate in my games since the rank reset.
Rank reset has been weird, some people got knocked down a lot and some not so much. Double Blood Points means that people will intentionally drop rank to get more BP. Also, since its Double BP, people go full tryhard and brings toolboxes and such.
-
@miaasma said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/527043#Comment_527043
running a perk is not counterplay
people should not have to run a perk in order to outplay a killer
if a killer has no in-game counterplay, there's an issue, and that perfectly describes spirit
unfortunately, spirit mains are just about as bad as nurse mains in that they've convinced themselves their killer is fair no matter what you tell them, so these topics never go anywhere
So I assume you have a huge problem with Myers, Wraith, Billy, Bubba, Clown, Freddy, Pig, Hag and the rest of the killers, besides Ghost Face, Trapper and Plague. Honestly, none of those killers have built in counter-play, so, I guess maybe you should get a new game if your so upset.

It isn't necessarily about camping, it's about anything that happens while someone is on the hook. If survivors rush to unhook like they usually do, you aren't allowed to punish them for it on GF, differently to EVERY OTHER KILLER who can still use their power around a hooked person.
You chase someone, and they go near the hook? Well you can't use your stealth to mindgame a jungle gym, because that dude over there is hooked. You down someone, and know an ally is on a gen nearby. Can you make a play by going for them in shroud? Nope, that guy you downed gets to permanently disable your power at 0 cost.
That's exactly what I was thinking, you put it way better than I could! I suppose that means the safest place to run from Ghost Face is your hooked teammate, which is pretty dumb. Ghost Face is from Scream and Scream is a movie about how characters can make all the right moves and know all the horror movie tropes and still die, it's about how a killer will always win, but this Ghost Face? Apparently, he always loses.

I actually don't agree with this.
I think he's pretty strong and when someone practices their strategy and gains perks to help that strategy he's going to be very strong.
The only thing I think they'll end up nerfing will be his ability to stalk during a chase.
I have found that he is, while absolutely better than he was, still lacking. I would say that they do need to extend the stalk timer during chase, but I think it's fine outside of chase. Additionally, the ability for downed and hooked Survivors to take him out of Night Shroud needs to go. There is no way to make that balanced. They are balancing around a 1%. Most killers realize camping isn't going to do very well, certainly not at higher ranks. If they cannot, or will not, take that away then I would ask that they make Night Shroud immune to detection perks and make it completely silent.

He's not exactly quiet when camping. Shape's camping is exactly like Bubba or Billy. They practically announce it without Insidious.
I'm guessing he didn't mention it because it's self explanatory.
That's somewhat fair, however, he can still camp with Evil Within and insta-down anyone who comes near the hook. Essentially, no killer, except Bubba, relies on camping exclusively. GF has a crutch to counter 1% of games. Honestly, all noise when he's in Night Shroud needs to go and they need to remove hooked and downed survivors' ability to spot him.

Hello
We believe it would be simply too easy for the killer and feel unfair on the survivors side. You would be looking at the incoming survivors simply to down them instantly. This is all based on what we have see from our playtest and on the PTB.
Pig crouch, you move slower. Wraith you cannot attack. Bubba (thats something we will be looking into on his review, and you are adding a Perk). Hag is limited by Survivor actions and your number of traps. Huntress is limited by the number of hatchets. Ghost face has no limitation, except his skill of staying Stealth. It makes him very different than our other killers. Or else his Power would have been time based, which is more pressure on the Killer, and not as fun. You can still camp by staying away from the view of the hooked survivor, we have seen it done. Just dont stay right next to the hook, use strategy and you will be fine.
Btw I will report post that i feel are just insulting and not contributing to the discussion. Even thugh you dont agree, please stay polite.
Thank you!
I noticed you left out The Shape, any reason why? He is the most similar to GF.

He is not top tier. He is in the same tier as Freddy and Doctor, terrible without add-ons. The whole Survivors can remove you from stealth HAS to go. At the very least hooked or downed survivors shouldn't be able to knock you out of it.
