Two things I would like to see:

    1. Individual killer ranks so when I'm trying someone new or playing a killer I haven't played in a while I'm not completely screwed by match making. You can learn better from a match that you lose but aren't curb stomped through and completely decimated.

    2. An early game objective or delay so killers have more time before those first gens pop. While it's to be expected that you'll lose a couple gens early it creates a lot of stress and pressure when you lose two gens before you even find a Survivor. Just something to take some of the pressure of playing killer off.

Another thing that would be nice but could be mildly unfair is limiting the number of the same perk Survivors can bring in since it's their 16 to a Killers 4 and it's not a 1v1 game its a 4v1.

1.Problem with individual killer ranks is that there are only very few killers that vastly differ feom their gameplay.

2.The devs already announced that they want to implement a new mechanic for the early game to make it more fun for both sides.

A tutorial for killer game sense would make it better. Cause thats what 90% of killers dont have.

You can't really make a tutorial for game sense. It's a skill that you develop through experience.

I was playing and it dawned on me out of nowhere that what can potentially make playing killer better is if they offer double bloodpoints compared to survivors. It would essentially decrease wait times and give a decent incentive.

    That's absolutely not necessary,honestly.

They just need to continue focusing on balance (maps, perks, killers etc.).

Then you've played against really really inexperienced freddys.

'Cruel Limits' is a killer perk belonging to The Demogorgon. Each time a Generator is repaired, all Windows and Vault Locations within a radius of 24 meters from the completed Generator are blocked for all Survivors for the next 20/25/30 seconds.

Cruel Limits is a unique concept in of itself, a perk which reacts to the Survivors completing their objectives rather than hindering their progress. Though the idea has been implemented in other perks, examples being Fire Up, Hex: No One Escapes Death, and Blood Warden, Cruel Limits offers its own response in blocking half of a Survivors defenses. A default Survivor stripped of perks and items is offered two means of defending themselves against the Killer, a Vault Location/Window and a Pallet to drop/vault over.

Unfortunately, Cruel Limits suffers from several flaws based on my experience.

    The numbers.

By itself, Cruel Limits sounds appealing when you leave out the numbers detailing its range and lasting effect. One can argue that 24 meters is a wide enough range, close to the terror radius of an average Killer, and should remain in that form. However, maps such as The Game, Rotten Fields, and the Yamaoka Estate are a few examples of realms that offer very low numbers of windows and vault locations, therefore Cruel Limits may rarely come into effect at all. On the other side, maps like Lampkin Lane and Léry's Memorial Institute offer a high number of windows and vault locations, so Cruel Limits will provide an outstanding effect on those maps as well, correct?

Well, in theory yes. That is when we come across the second flaw, it's usage.

Even if Cruel Limits were to block nearly a dozen windows/vault locations for 30 seconds, the Survivor(s) is still offered plenty of space to escape. A pallet if utilized correctly can postpone the Killer for close to or around 30 seconds, thus after the first attack the Survivor may use their increased speed effect from being damaged to escape the confined space and seek shelter elsewhere, where the perk has no effect. That is to say the Killer would be present at the completed Generator to savor the full 30 seconds of Cruel Limits, which again would only function in theory.

The awful truth I have learned from usage/experience from this perk is that Cruel Limits can only partially guarantee the promise of one hit attack to a Survivor, and that is strengthened when the perk is supported by Tinkerer so that you may utilize all 30 seconds of its blocking effect. Even then, the realm you have been given might not be in your favor, the selected Generator spawned in may not have windows/vault locations nearby, and the effect can only do so much to halfway promise you one hit on a Survivor or two.

In short, Cruel Limits does not offer much to promote its usage. So how do we fix this?

I have wondered if buffing its effects would be the correct solution to this, simply increasing the effect and range of the perk would not be enough in my opinion. A rework would be needed. A quick overview of The Demogorgon shows that it focuses on impacting both the environment and its inhabitants in unexpected ways, damaging nearby Generators through its attack in Surge and exhausting Survivors repairing Generators through Mindbreaker.

So, let's offer new ideas for Cruel Limits which affect either the environment or the Survivors.

    My idea would be this.

Cruel Limits: Any 3 Vault Location(s) used while in a chase will be blocked immediately after for 10/15/20 seconds. Cruel Limits will have a cooldown of 20 seconds for each Vault Location blocked, up to a maximum of 60 seconds. Auras of Blocked Vault Locations will be revealed to you in a Yellow Aura.

This would allow Cruel Limits to be much more reliable for chases and offer it better perk synergy, while in theory remaining true to the Demogorgon's focus on impacting the environment and the Survivors in unexpected ways. The idea is that this perk lives up to its name, limiting the Survivor(s) from using the same vault twice while in a chase, forcing them to be on the move or make better use of any pallets nearby. To keep Cruel Limits from being too much, the cooldown increases through every vault it blocks, so the more effective it is the longer it takes to use again. This way the perk would be balanced, at least in my opinion it would.

Do you agree or disagree with my proposed change for Cruel Limits? Support your thoughts and if you have other changes in mind, feel free to share your thoughts and share this idea in case the developers were to notice.

Your idea for cruel limits is absolutely amazing. It would make this perk finally useable without making it too strong.

Every now and then I go against Freddy in a trial and I'm already like "this isn't going to be bad trial"

I see a lot of people making their own tier list of the best killers and they are always putting Freddy at the top around S or high A and I don't understand. I've always been able to quickly get out of the dream phase he does and because I'm not running around the middle of the map, I go unnoticed the whole game.

I feel like he's not as impressive as the other killers cause he's easy to spot with that annoying strut he does that makes him look like he's about to T-pose. Plus, like the huntress, he has the music that follows him around making him easy to invade.

Are people just ranking him that high because of the generator control he has? because other than that he's not a hard killer to go against.

There are 3 big reasons as to why freddy is considered one of the strongest killers in the game.

1.His gen teleport gives him insane map mobility. He can cross the entire map in just a few seconds. Not even Hillbilly or nurse can travel the map that fast.

2.His snares is one of the best chasing power in the game.Just placing one snare correctly can shut down many loops.

3.But his strongest and most problematic part about freddys kit is the passive sleep timer.

The most important counterplay to freddys power is to stay awake as long as possible. In order to do so you need to find an awake teammate, fail a skill check or wake yourself up with a clock and that every 60 seconds.

This gives freddy an insane amount of slow down, map pressure and information (failed skill checks) without the freddy having to do anything for it.

Even if you managed to stay awake all the time before, you will still fall asleep in a chase without the freddy needing to hit you at all.

Using certain perks and addons make him even stronger

He definetely is much much better than you think.

I don't. It's just extremely frustrating on small maps, and playing with teammates who are overly altruistic.

That's more of a problem with your teammates than with the perk.Overly altruistic survivors will pretty much always lose.

  • That would be one of the coolest and most important features to implement honestly.

Would make it easier for the support team of this game and would really help to see what the killer/the survivor were doing and what mistakes you've done.

    It's 16. Yes, 16.

    11 medkits and 5 flashlights.

This is crazy. I have more than double the amount purple flashlights and medkits farmed during the time.

Bhvr these items aren't overpowered or something, it's the same like a basic medkit or flashlight but with special effects. You should give you us more of that. I'm sick of seeing Gateaus only, I want event items.

I got camped four games in a row and it's absolute trash. Three times by leatherfaces and a fourth time by hillbilly.

I don't even DO anything, like I don't t-bag, I don't point or gesture, I don't do a single toxic thing and I'm out here getting camped every game--and I know it's not something I'm doing because they go on to camp EVERY person they hook.

One of the times it was a rank 18 killer so I was like "Yeah, probably just new/don't know" but the other two times it was a rank 9, 8, and 13 and you KNOW they know what they were doing.

I really feel like this ought to be a bannable offense. It just sucks to de-pip every goddamn time because I get camped to death, or to be unable to save any survivors because THEY get camped and tunneled to death.

We all know that facecamping is frustrating, but the problem is that the devs stated that they won't do anything against camping unfortunately.

They tried some things to punish camping but those ideas were easily abuseable by survivors so the only punishment camping killer recieve is bad emblem scores, which is pretty much nothing.

The only tip i can give you is that you need to improve your chasing skills to discourage killers from chasing you or giving your team as much time to repair gens as possible.Using Kindred could help too but as it seems not always.

  • Optimization is just straight up horrible.

Ever since dedicated servers the Huntress is so busted. Her hatchet hitbox is so large that, in combination with server lag, she can hit you from a mile away and still get you injured. It's so annoying.

I think the devs should consider reducing her hatchet's hitbox again because she just gets an unfair advantage with dedicated servers. On p2p connection it was fine but now it isn't. Until those problems are fixed adjust the hitboxes from this:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/C7FMNU7IVHNH/image.png

    to that:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/IUYKW62CF53T/image.png

This would make things a lot fairer if you ask me.

Here's an explanation from Peanits about huntress hatchet hitboxes:

That second one was definitely in range. The window does not make you safe.

Regarding hatchet hitboxes: They were changed to not be spherical a while back, but the change needed to be reverted (as others have mentioned in the thread). I'll have to bust out my amazing drawing skills. This is what the hitboxes look like:

    Hitboxes.png

The survivor has a "capsule" shaped box around them. This determines where they can run and whether or not the killer can hit them. This hitbox does not change, the only exception is that it's a little shorter when you crouch. If it did change, it would cause all sorts of issues in a chase. You would be bumping into stuff constantly.

The hatchets, on the right, have a spherical hitbox.

    Why?

    Hitboxes2.png

When a survivor is injured, they're slouched over as they run. In the example above, you can see what that's important. The hitbox of the hatchet overlaps with the hitbox of the survivor, so the hatchet hits.

Now if you were to make it more closely match the size of the hatchet, you'd end up with this:

    Hitboxes3.png

In spite of the hatchet going right through the survivor (visually), it does not touch the survivor's hitbox, and so the hatchet would miss. We have tried this change and the past, but it was reverted because it caused a lot of issues like this.

To go back to the first hit, this is the scenario that played out:

    Hitboxes4.png

This is what the killer sees. It looks a little weird because of the survivor's animation, but the hitboxes overlapped. But then you need to factor in latency:

    Hitboxes6.png

This is what the survivor sees (with what the killer sees faded out). Latency sucks, you can't really get rid of it. It's a fact of life with online games. There's always going to be a slight discrepancy in online games. Since the hit is currently handled on the killer's end, even 100 ping can make a difference. (Survivor running at 4m/s x 0.1 = 40cm difference between what the killer sees and what the survivor sees.)

The ultra short version: Hatchet hitboxes can't change unless the survivor hitboxes are completely reworked, but latency is also in play.

    of course i am prestigied

Not really, no. If it were obvious, I wouldn't have asked.

Prestige increases the likelihood of items with higher rarity to spawn on your bloodweb. Event items have low rarity to make them easier to find on the bloodweb. So you're getting screwed by your prestige.

I leveled one of my characters that was not prestiged (2 million blood points) and still got barely any event items.

Not up to ewhat a red rank/top standard should be? A lot of them sure, I completely agree with you.

Bad? Not at all. You still have to play on a regular enough basis to retain a high rank and that will make you a better player over time. If it was true that red ranks are mostly bad survivors we shouldn't have an issue with red ranks being matched with yellow and grey ranks who are also supposed to be 'bad', but we know this IS an issue because current problems with matchmaking are highlighting it.

It's more that a lot of red ranks don't meet the skill level they should to be in that bracket but that does not make them in any way 'bad' survivors and definitely should not take away from a killer performing well consistently and just have it put down to bad opponents.

In that case there's no real way to distinguish between good killers and bad killers because they're all going up against bad survivors apparently so it can never prove anything?

The amount of critical mistakes i see survivors doing, especially when playing killer is absolutely staggering.

We are talking about survivors that are running in a straight line, wasting pallets when i'm not even near them, survivors that avoid pallets and windows like the plague, survivors that try to hide in plain sight. The list goes on.

And since the change the devs made to rank reset,it's even easier to stay at high rank.

Also play time doesn't always equal better skill. You could play a game for hundreds of hours but still be bad at the game.

What do you consider a "bad" player?

And well it is harder to tell if a killer is bad or good when the other players are bad because in that situation the killer isn't really able to apply his skill.

For example being able to perform mindgames shows that you're good killer but if they survivors are just running forwards without a second thought then you are not able to apply that skill in this situation.

Nurse is a tough one. On paper her power is far and away the best, a tier all to itself. In practice however, there is just a small percentage of players who can play her to her full potential with the plethora of bugs. I fully understand why folks put her lower on the list. It’s very unfair to compare the 99% of players to the 1% who play this game as a career. If nurse can’t effectively be played by the vast majority of killers, then she deserves to be lower on tier lists. Just my honest opinion.

But tier lists always assume that the pkayer is able to use the character to their fullest potential, don't they?

I actually cannot believe that when he does consistently well at all you'd rather say that the majority of every single person in red rank, hundreds of people, are bad at the game rather than that the killer could possibly be decent with enough time and understand

Thing is,most survivors in red ranks ARE bad.

I won't comment on his skill or level of knowledge but I can comment on him as a person after watching his streams and youtube.

He has an extremely fragile ego and created an echo chamber around him that's absolutely toxic. You cannot make a joke in his stream without instantly getting banned or perma'd even for the most innocent things.

He frames his streams as being helpful and aimed at teaching people but whenever I saw someone ask any questions, most of the time he would just jump over without ever replying and focus on things that soothed his ego or proved his point. Speaking of Bubba, he was playing Bubba trying to do this thing where he proved Bubba was good (against somewhat bad survivors) and he constantly tried to up the skill level of the survivors in an attempt to prove his point.

At a stage in the game he said something like "it's very hard to juke Bubba when he is revved up like this behind a survivor" and 3 seconds later, the survivor actually juked him and someone in his chat said "it's very hard to juke Bubba he says KEKW" as a joke with comedic timing, considering what he just said came true in reverse - to which he appeared to be very salty and gave a reply to the effect of "I know better because I'm a god and you're trash" and then his ENTIRE community (and by community I mean several subscribers and mods) immediately pilled on the guy, started making fun of him and calling him names and he got banned. That's the very definition of toxicity.

At that point, I un-followed because combined with the way he is as a person and the toxic echo chamber he built around his stream - there is nothing I can gain by watching him and I don't want to inflate his viewership, even by a factor of one.

  • I'm having a Deja vu.Wasn't there a thread like this posted here some weeks ago?

Can people just stop getting triggered that easily?

  • Kate Densons don't have any stereotypes. They could be anything honestly.

There are only a few characters that "earned" their stereotype.

Context: Map was Suffocation Pit, killer was PH, and I was in solo's, rank 2.

So I used to face high lvl teams a lot as Spirit, and then took a break. After returning, I've never found a team even close to the calibre I used to face.

I was playing survivor against a poor PH. My team was pressuring gens pretty well, he had his downs but they were doing well. I was expecting a 14 minute game, where at some point he might snowball. I was wrong, very wrong.

The PH initiated a chase with me, where I did surprisingly well. I got distance and he chased me to main building where I semi looped it, left to another pallet loop and dropped it, ready to mindgame his attack. Now, this is where the crazy ######### started.

So the chase felt like it was about 1 minute in total, not TOO long, and they were across the map. I see them pop 2 gens in rapid succession, 2 gens left, I thought they split the map wrong, and we were 3 genned. I get caged, and a gen on the side I was on got popped. I was like wth, that's pretty quick.

Then I proceeded to pressure a gen on the other side which I was completely baffled to find out that they even left a gen there, half complete. I knew there was one about 60% on the other side, since that's where the PH found me.

Long story short, they popped the last gen, someone got caught and they left. This poor Pyramid Head went from 4 gens left to 1 because the team was THAT ridiculously efficient. One died, rest got out easily.

Now, this PH and I were completely baffled as to how tf they did all that so fast. Our chase didn't seem game losing for him, and even when I thought we got 3 genned, I was shocked to find out they split it perfectly.

Does anyone else find/face solo teams like this anymore? I thought teams of this calibre of skill in solo's was long gone since I haven't faced that kind of team since returning as killer (aside from swf), and have clearly been used to a much lower level of survivors.

TL;DR, saw a team genrush a poor PH in about 1 minute of chasing. Was a solo team, insanely optimal. Anyone else face/meet these teams?

Unfortunately i very rarely get actually good teammates. Most of the time they play pretty bad :(

So I've been playing for a while and I usually don't get spun anymore unless the survivor is god tier. But I still have no idea why I sometimes miss a hit on a survivor who does this little "wiggle" or whatever you want to call it. It cuts my lunge short and forces me to miss even though I try to follow their movement. I still don't understand what exactly it is. Maybe I'm just bad? But I swear I've lost hits that I've absolutely should've gotten from this. Also I play on console if that matters.

This game has a mechanic which is called "aim dressing".It makes sure that the animation matches up when you hit a survivor.Problem with this mechanic is that it can take hits from you that should have it.

  • @SewerSwans said:

They're exploiting autoaim and how the game is supposed to automatically cut a lunge short when you'll hit. This motion makes the game think you'll hit and cut your lunge in such a way that you don't.

Thing is,there is no auto aim in this game only aim dressing. The main difference between both is basically auto aim can give you hits you shouldn't get while aim dressing is able to take hits from you that should have not.

I have a ######### ton of those, but I just can't bring myself to regularly play RPGs where grinding is part of the core game design and necessary if you want to win.

Well, there's your answer. You simply dislike grinding whereas others like it.

Long days and pleasant nights people of the fog! I am here to present a debate for you, this is all my opinion and I just want to start a discussion. I am currently an Oni main in red ranks, I play him almost exclusively now, he is extremely rewarding to play and he requires a lot of skill, meaning if I am better than the survivors, their crutch perks can't help them. I used to main Billy as well, he is very strong, but I kind of grew out of him and found him very boring to play. I think Oni is a better killer than the Hillbilly. Let's start with the basics. Oni can mindgame much better than the Hillbilly because of his control, meaning he can run almost every tile besides long walls. What I'm trying to say is that he counters looping most of the time, unless you are at long walls or jungle gyms. Hillbilly on the other hand, is punished for running in to walls, meaning he can't mindgame or run loops as well as the Oni, and Billy also has less control over his weapon. Build up: Something I always hear brought up in the Oni vs Billy conversation, is that Oni has to build up his power, whilst Billy can't. When playing Oni right, you can get your power all game, besides the start, making the build up futile after the start of the game, because you will have so much people injured, that you can keep blood fury all game, and as I said before, blood fury is better than the chainsaw. Mobility: Billy kind of wins in this category because of how much faster his chainsaw is compared to demon dash. Snowball potential: Oni wins by a landslide on this category. Unlike Oni, billy's chainsaw is very easy to dodge, because of his limited turning speed. Infectious fright is good on both, and both are amazing snowball killers, but Oni has better snowball potential overall than Billy. Finally, add-ons: This category was the hardest for me, because both have great add-ons, but Billy wins. The carburator tuning guide, primer bulb, thompsons moonshine are all amazing add-ons, Oni has great albums like the scalped topknot and the lion fang, but Billy wins in this category. All in all, I personally find Oni to be better and more fun than Billy, whilst both being top tier killers. Thoughts? These are only my opinions, so please don't say I'm wrong. Who do you think is better?

    Mindgaming:

I wouldn't really say that Oni is strictly better at mindgaming than Billy.Billy can either fake his chainsaw or curve around short and medium loops.Oni however can't really use his power at long walls, jungle gym AND short loops.

    Early game:

Compared to Billy,Onis early game is very weak and depending on how safe the survivors play it will take valuable time to get your power.

    Mobility:

That depends. In terms of speed billy will win,but if there are multiple obstacles in the way then Oni has the upper hand.

    Snowball potential:

    Nothing to add here.

    Addons:

As you said Billy kind of wins here. We've got drift king billy, insta saw,and speed billy

Using the scalped topknot addon would be comparable with speed billy power level wise because both help countering even more loops.

At the end i would say that Billys strength is consistency.Whereas Oni is more like a glass canon.Very strong power, but not being able to chain your downs will hurt you very hard

Are you sure? I swear I saw a mod or developer say it was intentional on another post.

    Just for convenience @Peanits @Almo

    Why should it be intentional?

It would make reporting players and such only harder
