So what you're saying is that new DS can promote useless team mates, yes, I agree with that. Like there aren't enough of those in solo Q already.

Are you oblivious to the irony in what you just said?

  • There is a large misconception about having the timer tick down on ds therefore you got no value from the perk. Just because you didn’t stun the killer doesn’t mean the perk didn’t/doesn’t have potential value.

something to the effect of “if I’m standing around injured, ds hasn’t done anything for me” has been said. The implication being that if only you could sit on a gen for 60 seconds, or rescue a survivor, you then had value.

the ds timer ticking while you stand around injured has provided the same protection, just not in the way you want it. You are still absolutely free to make progress on a gen or rescue a survivor. The difference being you now know there can be consequences of touching that gen or rushing that hook for points.

standing around watching that timer because you refuse to bring some form of healing is hurting your entire team. That’s 60 seconds of a gen that didn’t get done. Even worse is if you get slugged because you won’t heal, and force one of your teammates off of their gen to come pick you up.

4 pages of people talking about something that has nothing to do with the main topic

The very well thought out and written response above that you condensed down to “wall of text” said it all. You ignored it, you ignored the previous 3 pages also.

we ALL understand the challenges of the solo Q. We all willingly play this game. If after all of these suggestions you still don’t get that you are trying to get other people to play the way YOU want. You are trying to take away THEIR choices while at the same time trying to play the way YOU want to play and relying on them to make up the difference.

just gotta call a spade a spade.... HYPOCRITE

play how you wanna play. If you think other don’t play your way, get 3 friends and all your troubles are over.

Doesnt mean things cant be done to make solo q more enjoyable.

If you are playing siege or csgo and get paired with teammates that can’t aim, should the devs institute auto aim to make it enjoyable for bad players? That is as similarly laughable as the 4 pages folks have tried to explain to you that in a pvp things are not always fair or fun.

I have an issue with that though.

What if I'm on the hook and have DS, team mate hook bombs without BT, killer downs me, then downs my team mate and hooks them. I have no DS anymore because someone farmed me from the hook.

You still have ds for 60 seconds. The killer may slug you as that is the killers choice. Nothing happened to ds though

All this text just to say screw old DS. Again, I dont like old DS, I'm not defending old DS.

If that is truly all you took from that “wall of text” you will forever be expecting the devs to make up for your play. It literally cannot be explained any better than the “wall of text” did.

I really don’t feel that pvp games are suitable for you.

  • At a certain point everyone has to take responsibility for their own gameplay. Survivors and killers.

I admittedly play more killer than I do survivor, but do you know what I do when I play survivor? I sit my ass on a gen at any point I can. Why? Because it speeds up my ability to win. When the killers terror radius is nearby, do I run to a bush? Nope I sit my ass on a gen until the last second then sprint burst away. When I’m being camped do I immediately try to unhook myself then suicide? Nope because my teammates are then in a 3 v 1 without having time to sit their asses on gens.

when I’m on killer, and gens are flying, do I complain about this? Nope. I’ll slug, I’ll down a survivor that I have recently hooked, depending on the setup I’ll already know which 3 gens I’ll retreat to as a last resort. When I freshly hook someone and immediately hear the unhook I’ll absolutely slug them right back on the ground.

each side is in a battle of time. Survivors want it, killers want it. Each side is in a battle of resources. The longer a match goes the more in favor it goes to the killer and likewise the shorter it goes the more it tends to favor survivor. (It’s a generalization.)

instead of understanding the ebb and flow of games, most folks just want to rely on the devs to make up for lack of skill by limiting choice. Once all choice is taken away, you might as well just play the tutorial over and over again.

*I forgot to add this into the flow so I’ll just add it here* the devs ineptitude when it comes to matchmaking only magnifies the issues. Start holding them accountable for this and a lot of things will be more tolerable.

Damn, killer are so good they can "tunnel and camp" A WHOLE team in 2 minutes.

Talk about survivor lack of contact with reality.

The translation would be “the killer absolutely destroyed our team and then didn’t let us have a full reset. He is a tunneling, camping, gen patrolling cheater”

    sound about right?

  • @PanicSquid said:

Honestly, a basekit info/mobility perk that activates on hooking a survivor could give incentive for a killer to go away from a hook, especially in low ranks where the killer might not know where to go next.

This would encourage leaving the hook, indirectly discouraging camping, while also discouraging tunneling off hook, by directing the killer somewhere else, so a safe unhook and heal can happen.

Meanwhile its a direct buff to killers, so both sides benefit from this arrangement.

I think the great misconception here is that most killers that will go after a recently hooked survivor do it with some sort of animosity. It’s because it is the most effective way of slowing a game down. Unless there is a mechanism that incentivized leaving a hook that also slows the game down at a similar pace, it’s just going to wind up the same

  • And to be fair, the ruin undying would have been better served with adjusting tinkerer. Just my 2 cents

  • Undying. And while I do believe it was too strong as originally constructed, the way they went about changing it made it not worth running now.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2067893#Comment_2067893

I wouldn't change it at all.

If people actually want to discourage Killers from tunneling, they need to incentivize not tunneling. As it stands, tunneling one Survivor out ASAP is the best strategy for Killer.

Give the Killers some perks that encourage spreading out damage. I doubt that will help tho, as it would have to be a monstrously powerful perk to compete with the pressure put on Survivors in a 3v1

killers had a perk that STRONGLY encourage moving away from hooks. The perk simply didn’t work if a killer stayed at a hook. It was nerfed within 2 months.

  • It’s the nature of pvp games. The sooner people on both sides remember that, the less complicated it will be.

  • @Marigoria said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2067850#Comment_2067850

Yes, kindred and bond are second chance perks.

Read the disclaimer on my post, I said intelligent discussion not "hurr durr second change perk hurr durr" discussion.

tell Me how what I said isn’t correct. You made a direct issue of unhooking a survivor that wouldn’t heal you because they would lose ds..... I answered that you could always equip a heal perk or bring a med kit.

99% of the nonsense the comments regarding ds having the abusable parts of it removed sound exactly like what you say.

  • @Marigoria said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2067824#Comment_2067824

So what you're saying with that whole text is "it is what it is".

Want to any anything that actually goes against anything of what I just said or how to make it better for solo Q?

Equip a healing perk or bring a med kit. Then you don’t have worry about the situation you described. Might have to take one of the other 3 second chance perks off now too. 😮

  • Believe it or not, way back in an ancient civilization of dbd gamers, killers could also clearly hear survivors pain sounds over the obnoxious chase music. That was slowly over time lessened and lessened until it’s become something akin to a fable passed down generation to generation.

eventually scratch marks will join functional sounds in the dbd sarcophagus of dev ineptitude. There is no use fighting it, just give in.

  • Poor sluzzy can’t even stay on the front page anymore 😭😭😭😭

  • @Sluzzy i forgot to add something. You are losing your touch. There are so many vying for your title of King Troll. You really have to step your game up. Being the 521st person to post the exact same topic as the contenders to your throne did just seems lazy.

we have come to expect far more from you. There was no originality. Please save us from this onslaught of pretenders as it’s clogging up the forums with nonsense posts. put on some Rocky music and really show these pretenders how it’s done.

These updates are getting worse and worse. At this point it's time for the President of the company to come and have a good talk with the community, things really need to change over at Behaviour.

If at the end of the year their balance sheets show good profit on a game that is 6ish years old, the president of the company has fulfilled his/her job to investors. Until the Comunity stops buying skins and dlc, there is no motivation to change the status quo

  • I strongly disagree, but at least you had the decency to be straight about it. Most of the nonsense ds posts try to make the argument it doesn’t protect tunneling the exact same way it use to.

  • @Mugombo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2063305#Comment_2063305

Okay why don’t you play as survivor and bring the perk every game for 50 games. Out of those 50 games how many times would you actually get to use DS? My guess would be about 5 of those matches. Why would anyone bring a perk that is only used in 5/50 matches when you can bring perks that work every game.

So in 10% of your games you are getting tunneled. Seems as though it’s not nearly the problem people try to make it out to be. 😂

  • @BastardKing said:

What it says in the title. There are a lot of things in the game that have limited to no counter, and it leads to what causes the game to become so toxic. It is basically an example of Paul Piff's Monopoly experiment; when you give one side a distinct advantage over another one in Monopoly, the side with the advantage progressively becomes more arrogant. If you ask the sides why they won/lost, the side who was at a disadvantage will blame the disadvantage, while the side winning due to advantage will say they won because of skill.

BHVR was done better at addressing general issues, but the biggest issues remain things that have absolutely no counterplay. And no, BHVR, a perk is not counterplay. A single killer ability is not counterplay.

Hackers and Bug abusers need to be dealt with more harshly, and more anti-cheating methods need to be in place. A streamer I watch literally had a cheater in the game who said, "I don't care, I can just rebuy the game." It is way too easy to hack, and there is too little done about it. While a more frequently abused issue, and even less done about it, but less disruptive in its play, there are also a lot of people who learn about bugs and abuse them. However, in all my years playing DbD, the only people who were ever actually punished for bug abuse were Legion players who exploited the old dual knives add ons. There needs to be a harder crack down on those who use exploits of any kind. This is a multiplayer game, so it is a zero sum situation. Their exploits take away from someone else.

At every junction, perk, and map design, the question needs to be 'does this allow or stop gameplay?' 2-3 God PALLETS are okay, but the way that there are God Loops involving vaults is not, especially ones that cause you to lose line of sight and chase, because there is no way to stop that, besides Bamboozle. Requiring a perk to have any level of counterplay should never be a thing, because it creates meta perks and demands singular ways to play to hotfix the issues that are being left in the game.

The existence of God loops affects toxicity in the game. Toxic Survivors are way more likely to do things like t-bag or flashlight click in locations they know you can't get them at. You don't see it if the tile has gameplay available, or against killers like Nurse or Spirit who could just appear on top of them. Toxic Survivors only do this stuff when they know they are invincible. But there should not BE enough times that someone is invincible that they are frequent enough to be a cultural group within a community.

A similar thing happens when survivors are have a key, and know where hatch is, or when they are at the exit gates. There is literally nothing a killer can do to stop them. They don't even have to bring in a key. They can find an item that, after a certain point in the game, can render them literally invincible. And once they reach that point, there is a massive amount of toxicity.

This is most apparent with SWFs, who can utilize hard to use perks and items with insane coordination that the game was not balanced around due to massive amounts of information. Last I went through the list, SWF is the equivalent of 12 different perks, bolsters the strength of 8 of them, removes the potency of 11 killer perks, and gives abilities that don't even exist in the game. There is so much power in SWF, that it is not uncommon to have 2-3 people harassing the killer at the same time, with only one person doing gens. So what do you do? Slug, Tunnel, and Camp. You will only get one, but because they have so many benefits, there is nothing you can do but try for one. Again, the killer is hotfixing it. And when you do, the SWFs get angry that anyone dies, because at their level of free power, they believe they are entitled for four man escapes every game. So, they get toxic.

At no point should there be completely uncounterable gameplay that makes you know you are invincible. The existence of this causes hot fixes into the game by the players cause as much of a problem. Decisive strike exists? Let's slug and leave survivors on the floor for minutes. A completely thrilling experience. Gens moving to fast? You know what slows down gameplay? Slugging. Not possible to get regression on gens because killer regression occurs at 1/4th the rate survivor progression does, and there are four survivors for a 1200-1600% difference? Tunneling does a great job of reducing the impact of that. Absolutely no counter play to escaping once the doors are open? Well, gonna camp the last hook to death, because there isn't anything else you can actually do. But because these are all things to balance things in the game that naturally are benefiting the privileged side, the community is toxic against these behaviors.

BHVR has been addressing this by giving general buffs to killers, but that isn't the right way to do it, because that also just causes some of the most powerful killers to become too oppressive. The focus needs to be on doing everything possible to remove elements that have no gameplay and no counterplay, rather than just general strength buffs to leave those things in but make it so you have things with no counterplay too, so everyone can just be ######### to each other.

Every time you leave something in, add something, or support something that is uncounterable, you are making your community more toxic.

It’s quite well said, but after playing this for four years I just don’t think the devs give a $#!& anymore. I mean the game is what, near 6 years old on pc? It’s life cycle isn’t likely to be 10-12 years. It already looks dated and plays worse. I wish things like you say would happen, I just really really don’t see it outside of a dbd 2

  • Just as an aside..... in many previous topics, they were shut down near immediately when devs were name dropped. If I were any of you, I’d really keep it non specific like “the devs” “a dev” etc... not telling anyone what to write, I just understand how these forums are policed and I’m quite hard on the devs

  • @WeenieDog said:

Then how are we supposed to play the trickster?

what the poster is saying is that no killer is going to willingly play a 110 as an m1 with a very non-lethal power. The power is a detriment in most cases and killers are left basically having to play him as machete man with no traps that doesn’t move at 115.

  • @Zaytex said:

Not going to lie I played Huntress straight after a Trickster game where I didn't even get a single hook because HES that bad and I suddenly got a 4k.

He's so bad it's undescribeable. I'd even say he's E tier, D is too good for him.

So the really scary part is that whoever tested this the the secret bhvr volcano lair, thought his power was so absurdly strong that he should be 110. It’s the mere fact that these devs would put him 110 that has me dumbfounded (don’t get me wrong here... I don’t think 115 would make him appreciably stronger) it’s just that they actually thought his power deserved a 110.

    I hope that makes sense

  • (This is just for laughs survivors) well if you can’t actually tunnel, camp hooks, or slug effectively...... there will be no complaints from survivors 🤔

Main Event is the worst design decision BHVR has made in a long time. You lose time if you don't down someone almost immediately with it. The start-up, stun, and cooldown are unbelievable. If you don't down anyone with it you're basically throwing. AND you have no real control over when to activate it because the bar resets after a certain amount of time of not activating it. It's insane.

Just imagine Oni with similar conditions on his “omega power”. At least when it triggered and you didn’t necessarily want it you could still zoom around the map with a super lethal power. And he’s still 115 without it. These devs really make no sense

Oh, a fellow Old Freddy player, I see. Well, I cannot deny that nostalgia does affect my opinion towards my old main, but sometimes I feel like people don't give him enough credit. Yes, he was not the best killer in the game and situations like the ones you've described happened way too often. There is a reason why I always had block add-ons with me.

However, that doesn't mean he was as bad as most people say he was. He had his strengths, and honestly all he required were a few buffs and QoL adjustments, not a full rework. I also want him back, and no matter how many times people tell me he won't return I refuse to give up hope.

And if we stick to the actual topic of this thread, I believe we all agree that Trickster is WAY worse than Old Freddy.

Agree. 💪 to old Freddy players. (Oh and just another fond memory.... class photo and paint thinner. We had wall hacks too 😂)

  • @blackfoxx_x said:

To me, it seems like the devs have gotten lazier and lazier. Assuming we get a new map next chapter for the anniversary, we will have gone 12 entire months without a new map. The map reworks shouldn't really count. Refactoring an existing map shouldn't be as time consuming as creating a new map from scratch. It shouldn't have taken 6 months to fix Blight's camera pov (this should've been fixed in the first week or so).

The quality of the last 2 killers makes me believe they didn't set aside enough time for testing. I think they are barely testing the killers before the PTB, and the PTB is basically a formality. Most of the bugs/flaws found in the PTB should've been caught in their own testing before the PTB was released. They use the PTB as a substitute for their own testing, then don't have enough time between the PTB and the live version to fix these things. Hence we get crappy killers out of the gate that take months for them to get around to fixing.

They readily admitted that blights ptb wasn’t the build they were going to release to the public, so testing was never the reason for the ptb to begin with. It’s absolutely free publicity via twitch/YouTube/Facebook/(insert whatever media you want). It’s really as simple as that

  • When you have devs take 10 minutes on stream to snap out of tier 3 madness due to lullaby and then nerf it........ let’s be serious about wondering why this type of killer gets released.

  • Yeah I find the victor pounce to be quite responsive on a controller. The others I agree with.

As an Old Freddy main, I guarantee you would. Old Freddy was a very underrated killer, and quite deadly once you managed to master his unique playstyle.

Trickster has nothing, other than a very weak power and "Main Event", which isn't even threatening.

Let’s not have revisionist history here about old Frederick. He was my first p3 and I enjoyed playing him, but let’s not confuse nostalgia with lethality. How many times were you in endgame with a player on the hook helplessly watching an unhook waiting for transition because you didn’t have U/Z block equipped this game. Same scenario with last gen on like 97% and you can’t stop the repair.

don’t get me wrong, running remember me, getting your stacks, killing the obsession, getting everyone in dream, and grabbing a 6 pack of beer while it too 3 days to open the door was hella satisfying.

i wish he was still in the game as he was my favorite killer of all time, but some of the comments regarding him make me 4head at times.

What makes it bad is that it is random. This budget jokers spray pattern and recoil have no rhyme or reason. I can’t even see a mouse making all that much better.

I kinda see it, a hook related timed activation, destroys progress the other side made. The key difference is DS is a reward for bad survivors and PGTW is a reward for good killers.

Maybe, but in the end the devs could nerf every single gen perk to utter trash tier and do we know what would happen? The exact two things most survivors hate: more slugging and more tunnel/camp.

I could care less what the devs nerf/buff. I either adapt or choose another game. 99.99% of my posts are around folks being entitled and expecting the devs to solve any and every issue. It’s a pvp game. They aren’t fair and no one is guaranteed a ribbon.

dude just say you love it when there no obsession in match so you can hard tunnel every survivor with no worry.

I play both side so I know what it like when there no obsession

I mean ds not useless it got the nerf it needed but when survivors think it useless run it less there be less obsession match and hell a lot more tunneling with that more threads about tunnel why I feel there should be obsession in match no matter if anyone use a obsession.

I know sometime having a obsession in match some killers will still tunnel because they don't care about getting dsed but some just tunnel because there is no obsession meaning they know they wont get ds

I mean you understand what I'm saying? geeze

I’ll repeat it again..... equip on of the several perks available to you to create an obsession. I’m sure the devs will look into the obsession issue at some point. Crying here about everyone but yourself having to cause the obsession just seems lazy.

no not talking about that I don't even use ds I saying is if there is no obsession in the game killers will tunnel to get one survivor out making it an easy game for them I play both side sometime when there no obsession killers will tunnel but if there is obsession well they will slug or go for someone else.

why I said there should be obsession in the game no matter if there a obsession perk in play or no because when there obsession in game killer have to think more other then blindly tunnel.

Equip one of the several perks available to you that causes an obsession. Why is this everyone else’s problem including the killer, but not yours?

  • I can’t sit on a gen anymore 2 seconds after coming off the hook and be protected by ds anymore............

OMG Killers are now tunneling and this perk is garbage.

it pains my brain to read these posts. The perk still works the exact same when you come off the hook.

  • Tricksters power seems like it’s one of those that if they buff it even slightly too much he will be overbearing. I just see it being very difficult to do much with how he is designed.

after 4 years, this will be the first killer that i have no interest in playing. (Well I did only play twins once so I guess it will be the second)

  • @SilentHillOnDvD said:

I feel so weak with this killer. Playing him just makes my head hurt and annoys me. 3 months for this piece of trash? How do you do so good on blight but flop with 2 killers after him?

I’m beginning to think there is no one in bhvr that has the juice to say “you know what? This idea is pretty bad” I mean look at twins, the HUD rework, this cheap joker knock off...

just seems that whatever they are working on, after it reaches a certain point of completion, it goes out no matter what.

  • So many people have tried to point out during and after the ptb that he’s essentially a 110% m1 killer. They were all told to “just wait and see how he is on launch”. He’s still a killer whose power is not terribly lethal and moves at 110%

  • Let’s just be 💯 about this debate. While a good debate, it’s already getting bogged down in the details. This addon bad, that addon good. This tactic bad, that tactic good. This is trying too hard while that is acceptable.

all of this is taking the decision making of individual players out of their hands. Once those “unacceptable” things are removed do you know what happens? People adapt and make newer “unacceptable” things.

a mode already exists for like minded players to battle with whatever rules are deemed appropriate: KYF. It would be impossible to get however many people play this game daily to agree to what is deemed “casual”. If it were implemented, it would be impossible to prevent players from continuing to try to play to win in the most efficient way possible.

What’s truly terrifying is the SWF I played against were chill and just having fun. They weren’t even going hard at me but they never made a mistake or missed a beat dealing out commands and updates on locations and such. If they took it real sweaty and serious it would have been ten times worse for me. I honestly can’t see how even a top tier killer like Otz or True can go up against SWF who are this coordinated on comms

This is the exact reason some of these content creators don’t want MMR. The devs balancing the game around people who haven’t put time in to get better really creates a problem when they do. The game succeeds BECAUSE of potatos that join solo Q. Most killers can quickly identify that teammate that has spent zero time learning to loop and get them out of the game ASAP. Even if the other 3 are very good, the odds then favor the killer or in a worst case scenario bring it closer to even.

MMR is going to magnify the ugly warts of balancing for the lower end. The devs have straddled the fence for a loooooong time concerning the solo Q/ killer/ swf balancing issues.

  • Just stop trying to greed pallets v. Reworked Bubba. Also. Stop standing there staring at Bubba walking towards you like an idiot so you can activate SB..... he can catch up with the saw.

stop trying to play the exact same cookie cutter way against every single killer.
