With camping, I think the Devs could pause the hook timer if the Killer is within 32 meters of the hook and another survivor isn't. If another survivor is within 32 meters, then the hook timer continues.
However, I think there are many other options to fix issue. With those 2 changes, the Devs can get rid of Decisive Strike and Borrowed Time.
Pausing the timer has already been tried. It was abused by survivors looping the hook. It was promptly discarded.

Go create a new steam account and family share it, then use your rank 20 survivor bully those new killers away, make them refund. Don't do gens or else u will pip, just be as toxic as u can and make those new killers refund the game. If we all do this and nobody will by this game, then they might will think about buffing those clowns (most killers are clowns for rhey are just bad)
What is the point of this post exactly? Are you advocating the destruction of this game and griefing other people, by manipulating family share? Great idea, instead of figuring out why your smoke detector doesn’t work, burn your damn house down to show those damn dirty manufacturers you got them.
very childish. Hope they ban you from these forums

What is going on with Killers and being so sweaty with tunneling and camping? It's not fun, infact I've had 4 games in a row where the killer got a 4k just because they wanted to play cheap. It's not even close to rank reset, there's no reason to do an immediate tunnel out game. No one gets points, no one has fun and it's not worth it.
So please explain why you're wasting your time just for an immediate win?
There 10-15 posts in the past couple of days regarding this exact topic. 15-20 posts about gen speeds. 15-20 posts about second chance perks..... (see where I’m going with this)
it’s a pvp game. If gen simulator is what you prefer, simply play the tutorial over and over again.

Wait a minute. Are you really asking, why you get instant survivor matches in the morning, during a work day?
And also (at least here in the states) the kiddos are in school.

Do you know why? Dev just listen noob survivors opinion and dev also don't know how to play game well. So MOST OF KILLER USERS HAS LEFT THIS GAME.
(I was shocked when I saw dev's perk as killer.)
Dev need to listen killer side. Not this survivor sided noob community. You have to watch Top players stream and consider error of statistics. I recommend Top1 killer player Sal_gu in twitch. If you want to translation of his opinion, I can help you.
Now as survivor, how much time do I have to wait more?
Unfortunately just take a look at the forums and see how many “nerf x killer”, “x killer op Pls nerf”, “x killer perk op” there are on any given day, and know that this is apparently how the devs balance.
after 4 years on this game I just take it for what it is. When the day comes that I don’t, I’ll simply uninstall

I could care less about that person. I'm not a "White Knight" as you put it; I'm not even a nice person. What I do care about, in this medium, is accuracy. This is a forum and debates are about points. While I do not care about that person, I do care about the point he/she made. You failed to refute it. You engaged in a rhetorical fallacy instead. That tells me you KNOW you couldn't refute it. That is why the behavior reflects badly on you. Instead of debating it, or conceding the point, you chose to try and undermine that person's point in an inappropriate way. To put it in a computer games term, you tried to hack (cheat). So while I don't care about the person you responded to, I do care about that. It makes me care about you; do you really want to make yourself the object of my rhetorical obsession?
So, let's get back to the statements made and the debate itself. Can you refute that person's point or not? As a reminder, that poster pointed out that the Killer's job is to prevent Survivors from escaping, i.e. kill them. He pointed out it is not the job of the Killer to help the Survivor's achieve their goals. Please answer this point or concede it.

Every new nurse just has to watch a guide and spend 10 hours into her to become really good. Don't say she requires skill, her blinks are really easy to get used to and there's no baby nurses around at rank 1 anyway.
Yeah,that's not true at all.
If she would really be that easy then we would see a LOT more Nurses, which is simply not the case.
She's not impossibly hard to learn yeah, but definetely NOT as easy as you make it seem
Not to mention that bad frame rate, capped horizontal turn rate on console makes her even more difficult on them. Not to say there aren’t good console nurses, but even the few good ones have limits due to those issues.

I'm utterly frustrated with this game, players, wait times, match-ups, and last but not least the lack of people working as a team when playing as a survivor.
When I bought this game I fell in love with it and the game play and really enjoyed my time playing. That time has come to an end. Killers are super OP and leave no room for survivors to even get gens done let alone have the chance of making it out of the match.
Match after match I'm constantly pulling teammates off the hooks for them NOT to do the same in return. I can't tell you how many times I've sat on the hook to second stage or even death because teammates don't want to participate!!!!!!!!!!
I've tried so many times to give this game one more shot but I'm done. Way to go devs!!!!
In your post you talk about your teammates doing nothing, not rescuing you from hooks, generally just not participating in the match. Then you state killers are op. If you are going to come here and whine, at least be logical.
if your teammates are as bad as you claim, then a blind monkey with one hand could play killer a win. How exactly is the killer supposed to help your brain dead teammates?
just so we are all clear here..... if your teammates and yourself play bad and lose, killer OP?

Victor can still down injured survivors, attach to healthy survivors, trap survivors in lockers... His utility remains strong regardless. The Twins are not an M1 killer. Charlotte is, the Twins are not.
That is exactly what I said lol
-
Anything that weakens victor or the ability to play as victor leaves the killer player using Charlotte who simply has m1 at that point.
the killer is realistically “stuck” because of how she was designed. The devs have cool imaginations when the conceive a killer, but they lack understanding of how killers actually play in the game.

I've seen people less fired up about politics than this game, and it completely #########' boggles me.
I believe Saul Alinsky (sp) wrote in Rules for Radicals something to the effect of “the greatest trick the devil ever played was convincing humanity he doesn’t exist”..... I say this because the game is in such a state (performance, balance, matchmaking.... the devs making) that it’s inevitable that opposing sides look opposite and lay blame. All the while, the devs are let off the hook. (They don’t exist.)
Until the Comunity holds them accountable, this is what we have. I mean all dramatics aside, we all know this is a pvp game and in any pvp game there will be a pissed off side. As much as I enjoyed your post and agree 100%, it’s kind of a moot point.

Against: Ghostface
Mostly the unreliable reveal mechanic. The fact that you can be revealing him and he walks past a blade of grass for half a second which cancels it entirely but reveals your position. The fact that theres no warning and no penalty to his stealth, he just walks around a blind corner and smack.
As an aside, you can easily hear GF apparel flapping around when he’s in stealth. Btw, GF is my least fav killer to go against also. I simply dislike having to look at ever “leaning” spot constantly while I’m daydreaming on a gen

I may be completely wrong, but I think that the survivor rulebook has created a balancing nightmare for the devs. If you have just 30% of all killers going whole heartedly by the survivor rulebook (never tunnel or camp), and the rest of killers killing as efficiently as possible, it creates a situation where the devs cannot trust their own stats. There is no way to know if a 4k or 4 escapes were due to "nice" killers or normal ruthless killers.
This is mostly true but leaves out the blame. The devs themselves have created the time crunch that forces “ruthless” killers and “gen rush” survivors. There just isn’t enough leeway for either side to breath.
Match pacing and the $&/“@& matchmaking has caused 99.999% of the problems players have issues with. Just mho

It does matter how often it happens and the fact that you say "You don't care about this 1 example" just shows your ignorance. The fact of the matter is, most killers aren't as good as they think they are and refuse to put the practice in. Killer isn't something you can just pick up and master with 100 hours.
You clearly didn’t read my entire message. I never said something akin to “buff killer survivor op”. I made the case that neither side has time. Thanks for your input to the topic though. Very enlightening

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2047271#Comment_2047271
You can win games as Killer without going for 4 man slugs. You can also win games as Survivor without "genrush" (which I consider as letting people die on Hooks to push out Gens, no matter what).
3-4 minute games are very rare, if that is happening frequently, the Killer player is pretty bad. Even in my worst games I remember, I did not have games like this, and I had games which are in my mind where I got 4 Hooks in the end or where I overcommitted so hard, because I was stubborn. And those games did not end that fast.
I do agree on the Snowball aspect tho, most results are probably 4Ks or 4 man escapes, since either the Killer is not able to apply enough pressure or the Survivors get stomped, and once they reach the point of 4 gens done, nobody dead (and no 3-gen) or 1 Survivor dead before enough Gens are done, the game is basically over, as long as there is no huge skill gap between the two sides.
how do I know if it’s the op fault or not? I don’t care about this 1 example. It doesn’t matter if this 1 example is the op, matchmaking, the survivors he faced, or divine intervention.
this is not an isolated incident. Thais happens frequently. Like I said, the pacing of the game with how it is currently designed coupled with the $&@/!? matchmaking is the underlying problem.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Does it happen often to you that you get Games which are done in 3-4 minutes?
What percentage of games where it’s over in say 7-8 minutes is acceptable to you? 10%, 25%, 50%?
your reply to OP didn’t really address anything he said. Instead, you framed it around asking how often it happens to him. It’s not just him as we have countless posts about that very topic. So we can easily chalk it up to “op just played bad” or that person “just didn’t pressure gens” I guess. Nah, that’s lazy.
there is a fundamental issue with time in this game. It’s the reason so many matches wind up with 4K or 3-4 escape in under 10 minutes. There’s not a lot of middle ground for either side. The pacing of the game is simply too fast. Rush gens or 4slug are the options players have atm. Trying to do something else results in a rapid loss of momentum and a quick end to the match.

@Dragonshensi said:
Ah yes. You’ve gotten a fine taste of the matchmaking. Due to low rank killers constantly going up against red rank SWF sweaties a lot of killers have stopped playing. And thus, less killers means more low rank killers going against red ranks. It’s a self-defeating cycle of more and more killers leaving. I want to play killer but I’m filled with a constant sense of dread if I’m going to get more red ranks, since I’m around your level killer-wise. Most of the time killer is rage-inducing and just a panicked race around the map. It’s not enjoyable for me, especially in my area where past 8 at night the game is basically unplayable for me as Killer. All I get are red ranks.
The ever popular forum topic “why are survivor Queues so long” make me laugh every time I see them pop up. This person’s experience is exactly why newer killers, and to some extent older killers who are tired of the constant sweat, are leaving or simply playing survivor and adding to the queue times.
Eventually survivors will be going against bots and wondering why the games are very boring and scripted. Just amazes me that the devs cater to the 4 as opposed to the role that is on the endangered species list.
-
@Dragonshensi said:
From both the Killer and Survivor side. Everyone plays so aggressive and tryhard right from the start. It’s just not a fun experience. Especially if said red rank is twitch killer. Which it seems I get a lot. And if they are survivor then they are just toxic to the killer for da viewers . I’m rank 10 as survivor and rank 14 as Killer and I’m constantly getting red ranks. I’m sure a lot of you red ranks are cool and chill dudes but the ones I’ve encountered are all overly sweaty and it’s just not a fun match, just kinda miserable honestly. Plus, past 8 or 9 at night where I’m from the game is basically unplayable cause that’s all the players I seem to get.
The current speed of the game really doesn’t allow either side to play “lax” at the beginning of matches. Once momentum is lost it can be difficult to get back. You can try and blame the players, but the devs design the way the game is played. Just like anything else in life, it’s pretty foolish to do things inefficiently.
the devs have to adjust the speed of the game. Simple as that.

I just don't get why every killer has to offer the same experience.
Hell, even if it were a problem in the game, I'm not really seeing what warrants attention above a hundred more pressing concerns about core DBD issues that deserve a look. People aren't exactly lining up around to the block to play killer these days anyhow, even strong ones with low skill floors.
Because if those two killers are brought down to the level of the rest of the cast, implementing MMR isn’t going to change a single thing in the life of survivor mains.
the game has been exposed for what it is during MMR testing. Many of us knew this would happen. Now it’s there for everyone to see. Gotta get ahead of the curve ya know. Lmao

I sincerely hope the game devolves into exactly that. It won’t be fun for a bit, but the devs ineptitude regarding matchmaking and balance around low level play will be on full display. The stats they throw around are meaningless in the current matchmaking

You seem to be trying to set a narrative where the game is full of tryhard 8000 hour metabuild Spirits vs average swf so that you can claim Spirit is OP.
1) That's not true at all. There are plenty of swf groups with thousands of hours, and plenty of potato or inexperienced Spirits
2) Even if that was true, wouldn't we be expecting an 8000 hour tryhard with a meta build to beat a casual group of friends having a chill game together?
Or are you saying that a casual swf should have the ability to beat an 8000 hour tryhard who plays DBD religiously? because it seems that's how people like yourself want the game balanced. (and to a degree it already is)
It’s almost as if someone like sonicfox who is basically regarded as the best mortal kombat player in the world shouldn’t be rewarded for the time and effort he puts in. Maybe because he is super skilled , MK devs should make it so that me as a casual who doesn’t play that much should have a “fair” and “fun” game if I play against him. Terrible logic
MMR will start putting casual survivors against casual killers and it will all wash itself out. People out far too much focus on individual killers as opposed to the real problem: dbd devs absolute inability to match players appropriately.

If the game is balanced around what you class as 'high play' which is 4 man SWF who have OoO, ds and unbreakable, a solo survivor like me who just wants his WGLF stacks and some fun chases is gonna have a miserable time all the time. do you honestly think that's gonna work with even more of those kinds of killers?
Do you know what would happen to the killers that killed you in this scenario? They move up in MMR to play against higher MMR survivors who aren’t just looking for wglf stacks. That’s the beauty of a functional, accurate MMR
-
*This comment isn’t about the fun factor of stridor spirit*
What should killers do? Play unviable killers and get dumpstered? This is the culmination of years of balancing the game around players that aren’t good. When the game goes to a state where good players go against good players (MMR), that balance rears its ugly head and people play with what works.
Hopefully the devs will start using stats off of good matchmaking to make their decisions, stats are pointless when there is no real win condition and matchmaking is a complete disaster.
-
Max out your horizontal sensitivity asap so you get use to it. You will need a super fast turn rate. Also practice making sure your center of screen is just above center when you blink so you can get max range. (As an aside you will learn to manipulate your center during charge to combat double backing survivors)
main thing is get use to high sensitivity and understand that fps on console isn’t the greatest.
best of luck

He also slugged which he doesn't like doing.
I noticed that Tru3 wasn't having fun at high MMR vs good survivors, bad maps, and your regular killers.
Then he switches to slugging Nurse, and you can tell the survivors didn't have fun.
I think that's how it's going to be. Fun for one side only depending on the killer.
Liking to play that way or not liking to play that was is a personal choice. THIS is the game the devs have given all of us that play killer. When I first started playing on PS4 release I didn’t even know what a slug is..... We had old ruin, we had brand new ps4 survivors that weren’t optimal so we could just play the game.
things have changed over the years on both sides and killers were backed into a corner and told to “get gud” when gen times were brought up. As a direct result the best slowdown a killer has is to slug. It’s unfortunate and not terribly fun, but the devs design the game perks/balance etc.
I say all this to emphasize that if slugging isn’t appealing to “you” then don’t do it, but understand that versus better players it’s just not advantageous to go for 10-12 hooks with how the devs have made the game atm.
we all know this so anyone that choses to play for hooks can’t really complain too much because it’s not the most efficient way atm. Not taking shots, just pointing it out.
-
I’m no fan of tru3, but when he hopped on nurse, everything was fine. The game just needs a roster with more killers that can play at the upper levels. If tru3 played nurse every match he’d be just fine, but who wants to play the same killer over and over

Lol I was watching his stream for about 40 minutes during that queue. Did he actually lose the game when he finally got one? That's actually quite funny as it must have been his first loss on Twins.
I guess the MMR kind of worked there, despite the ridiculous 2 hour queue...
I agree it put too killer versus top survivors, but it more so just highlights the problem with having MMR but two “viable” killers for the folks to use that play at that level.
mid be bored as hell if I HAD to choose one of two to play every single match.
-
Just watch Dowsey’s vod on twitch where he had to sit in Q for 2 hours on twins due to his absurd 800+ kills with 1 escape MMR rating to then get promptly dumpstered by comp players.
Even the top 1% players in the game can’t win with non-nurse/spirit games verses that.
buffing all killers will even out because people who are good with any killer will always go up in MMR so the rest of us mediocre players will be left with mediocre competition. That’s how MMR works. If bhvr goes through with the MMR, they have got to bring more killers up to par

Frederick was top tier due to the tinkerer/ruin/undying combo. Now that that is nerfed, he’s not nearly as strong. A simple bot that did nothing but glue themselves to a gen would be a scary thought. Like it or not, potato survivors that are scared of gens keep this game reasonably balanced.
-
The matchmaking right now becomes less restrictive the longer people wait in Q...... even if their new MMR works perfectly, nothing is going to change because bhvr is not going to change to a very strict matchmaking that dramatically increases Q times. Everything will be the same except the players MMR will be hidden so that they cannot take screen shots to show nothing changed and post it here.
there will have to be an influx of killers that rank up to even the ratio out. It’s 4:1 now and will be 4:1 then. Nothing is going to change.

its a hypothetical question. Assuming the law of supply and demand were to hold true in this scenario, there would be more killers in that Q than survivors. With that being said, the Q times would necessarily go up. (Sound familiar with the current state of the Q from a survivor POV?)
It would be a completely pointless question to ask if killers could choose a mode with no swf and there were no matchmaking time difference. You already know this but felt the need to ask a very dumb@$$ question.

Until running to unhook a teammate is less valuable in terms of quick points, sitting on a gen will always be secondary to a lot of boosted survivors. Just how it is

The devs have made it pretty clear that they do not want longer Q times (evidenced by the expanding ranks allowed into a match the longer players wait) so even if they get MMR completely right and it ranks people appropriately, it’s not going to matter at all unless we get more killer sin the game. The matchmaking is still going to loosen the longer a player waits and we have exactly what we have now. The only exception is the devs are going to take your ability to see that they have fixed exactly nothing by hiding MMR lol.
nothing is going to change if killer/survivor ratio stays the same and the devs don’t have very strict matchmaking.
-
I should have added an option about 3+ swf but I don’t so much care about getting some scientific poll, just a kind of basic yes/no thing.
