  • Personally the taller killers always feel “off” to me. I play hag, Freddy, and piggy quite a lot so I got use to their POV. Personally I hate the tall POV because it’s harder to see survivors at your feet while spinning.

To get more killers the devs need to give more incentive to play that role. If they cannot buff the killer to better deal with SWF because it destroys solo survivors, then they are left with awarding bonus Bloodpoints to whichever role is currently short of players (hence the survey from months back asking what is the minimum reasonable amount you would accept to play a role you wouldn't normally or do not enjoy.

After about 2000 hours in this game (probably around 12-1500 on killer) there is no reasonable amount of bp that they could bribe me with to play more than 1 or 2 games a day. the game has kind of run it’s course as far as killer is concerned for me.

Probably wiser to wait. If you come right out the gate slugging and the survivors manage to all get up it’s going to turn bad all around. They are going to start being toxic, etc to the killer. It will just turn into a miserable match for everyone. Not to mention if you just slug everyone in the beginning you as the Killer won’t get a lot of BP. No multiple chases, etc.

Gaining bp is an entirely different discussion.

waiting until gens are powered is absolutely not wise. The survivors could be spread out, positioning could be bad, hook placement, gate placement etc....

either side has to make moves to win when they are presented.

    just my opinion

  • @Dragonshensi said:

Slugging when most gens are done and you need to start killing off survivors is fine. Slugging everyone right out the gate with no gens done is another story.

Do you think it’s wiser to wait until it’s likely too late to play effectively or do it right from the start?

  • What do a lot ok killers complain about now? Fast organized (swf) games. What do survivors complain about? Tunneling, camping.

with that said, let’s imagine that bhvr announces a “casual” mode where players can go for “casual” games. The people described above move to the casual mode. How do you intend to keep folks from wanting to win and if wanting to win is allowed, how much desire to win is ok and how much isn’t?

assuming that killers leave “ranked” mode in large numbers to go to the casual mode, this will cause ranked mode survivor Q times to sky rocket. The survivors in ranked mode then are forced to play in casual in order to actually play the game.

we wind up with exactly the same thing we have currently. We will need a casual mode for the casual mode.

    I just didn't realize.

Personal attacks are not an effective argument. There is a problem you are overlooking. I've pointed it out several times. Everyone defines a casual game differently. If you do your games with "random" people, they are unlikely to agree with your version of how it should be played. How exactly is this other Que to be defined? Who gets to decide? What if you create one, and there are people who still feel it is too competitive?

For the record, I never pretended to be anything but a competitive person. I would not be playing in the Que you are describing, or care what you do there. I want a hard game, a challenge. However, I do know that a lot of people don't want a challenge, but they like to WIN. Your casual game would just be a slaughterhouse where people, who preferring winning over effort, would slip in and proceed to play like a Tryhard. Do you see where I'm going with this? How would you keep them out? We already have people who sandbag themselves to go down and play newbies, and people who create new accounts to do the same. Do you really think they are going to have a problem with lying about being casual? :)

You have asked this question 10 times 10 different ways and still have yet to get it answered. I fear it likely won’t be answered since the answer is ultimately having the same exact Q we currently have except it will be labeled as casual.

  • You can hear when demo is readying his shred. Use that and knowledge of knowing demo is going to likely use shred when you are seemingly committing to a vault, pallet, narrow passage, door, etc and change direction.

id really suggest playing as demo for a few games so you can actually see the counter play in real time.

I mean...Is it REALLY that big of an issue if one escapes..? Is it the end of the world..? You already got a person getting a DC penalty and 0 points. That's a bigger win then a 4k. Not to mention you get extra BP for a quitter bonus

That’s not addressing the issue, it’s trying in vain to justify it.

What they could do is make is harder for survivors to de pip that way when I do 3 damn gens and loop the killer only to get face camped when I go down I don’t de pip because the game think I played poorly for some reason.

Harder to depip? WHAT?!??!!?! A major problem the game has at the moment is boosted players in ranks they don’t belong. New rank reset has caused a lot of issues.... making it even more difficult to depip will only increase the problem. Let’s just have every player at rank 1 and then we delete ranks because it’s 100% useless then.

They were ignoring the survivor I unhooked also. They would hook them and I would start to unhook the survivor and the killer would just ignore me and the one I was unhooking and go look for another survivor.

At the end of the match I took a protection hit to protect the other remaining survivor so they could escape through the exit gates and the killer ran off after the survivor escaped leaving me in the match still alive and standing right in the exit. Was kind of strange actually. I'm thinking that they did it on purpose because somehow they knew I was trying to get hooked.

Well if the killer was ignoring everyone I totally misunderstood. In that case I have no idea what was happening. Don’t worry about it then. 😄

  • Well many times the killer is going to intentionally ignore you to get another quick hook state off the person you farmed. Survivors have a very valuable resource in the amount of time they can simply hang on a hook. Rushing another hook state is super advantageous to the killer.

  • I wasn’t willing to take it there and risk moderator jail lol. But yes hahahaha

It doesn't take skill when all you have to do is walk towards someone to see them run off then smack another off of a gen on the way through to get 2 gens regressing for free. They lose all the progress of their gens because what? You had a perk and you were in the area? Ruin punished Survivors for not being good at their OBJECTIVE. New Ruin rewards you for just staring at people. The longer a survivor loops you, the more reward YOU get. What is the reward they get? Their hard work being regressed in 30 seconds from 99% to 0% because they were not in a SWFs and they didn't immediately search for Ruin. That's my issue with new Ruin. If you know its Ruin, you're always better off looking for it. Staying on a gen and getting it close to 90% and then the killer just walking up to you, forcing you off or take a hit/down. You go loop for 20-30 seconds and come back to 0% on your gen. Yep, he/she sure worked for that progress regression by just participating in a chase. New Ruin is just a bad replacement. There you go. That's my reasoning.

Either way, I hope the devs continue to tinker with things and try them out either in ptb or trial runs in the game. Was a fun debate.

Doesn't seem like it's that long when I'm playing Survivor and I loop a killer with 90% and come back to it be 0% just because randoms like to twiddle their thumbs. Maybe a Placebo effect since I'm use to being screwed over.

The devs word it awkwardly to say the least. It’s says 200% for ruin and that simply means it turns it from .25 charge/second to .50 charge/second. It’s highly misleading

In my haste I forgot to point this out.... it takes 320 seconds to fully regress a gen from 99.99999 to 0 with tier 3 ruin. Not 30 seconds. Huge difference. Facts matter

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2054967#Comment_2054967

I agree. It was a band-aid fix for a larger problem. Map size, pallet amount, hook amount and other factors should have been looked at to fix some of the issues but instead, we got a more annoying Ruin that rewards you for staring at a survivor and if its not regressing, you know someone is on it. It has multiple problems. I rather have old Ruin back but make the punishment for doing a good skill check better to compensate. This new Ruin is too easy to get a reward when you're facing a Spirit, Nurse, Billy, Ghost Face, Pig and a ton of others who can just stare at you, sneak up on you and it creates a bigger problem. Why do gens if you know someone can make you go away if you approach then lose ALL of your progress while you wait for the killer to walk away? It's really annoying.

Ahhhhh thanks for this post. It’s EXACTLY what I said. New ruin is not the issue, excusing poor looping is. No matter how you try to convolute it, the killer can only chase one survivor at a time. The other 3 are free to progress gens. If survivors as a whole can only last 15-20 seconds in a chase, whose fault is that exactly. It’s not ruin, it’s not undying, it’s not DH, it’s not ds, it’s that particular survivors skill.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2054965#Comment_2054965

I'm talking from experience as a Killer. I can use most killers and if my Ruin stays up, I 4k. I don't got to do much. Just chase the guy away and chase another person on the way there. That's usually enough to regress a gen fully and what did I do? I just didn't commit. That teaches a new killer nothing but to depend on a perk. Old Ruin was meant to go against survivors. Not babysit them. If you think I'm coming with this opinion as a Survivor, you mistake me heavily. I play both sides and have a ton of videos of my Rank 1 gameplay as a Killer who plays all killers. I also play a good amount of survivor. Old Ruin taught survivors how to become better, not worse. Getting hit off of a gen and seeing your progress disappear all the way in less than 30 seconds from almost 100% is trash just because a killer came up to you? Why use POP? It's an inferior perk. You're forced to look for Ruin if you want a fair chance at Rank 1. I liked the old Ruin and I was heavily against the change of it.

Survivor main, killer main, equal main, makes no difference to me. I simply went off of what was written. I addressed what you said nearly point for point. You addressed nothing I said.

  • @AVoiceOfReason said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2054920#Comment_2054920

The problem with that is, scaring a new player away from a gen is much easier and the consequences for them much worse. Old Ruin taught them to hit Greats as best as they could. This new Ruin just feeds most killers free kills because they don't have to do much but chase someone off of a gen. You take away Ruin and I bet the kill rate drops dramatically at high rank.

Just to understand this fully..... old ruin rewarded the killer pressuring multiple gens absolutely nothing, new ruin rewards exactly that (just pressure gens 4head. Sound familiar), yet it’s somehow a free kill? Perhaps learning to loop would be a better choice. Really what you are saying here is that you want exactly zero consequences for lasting 20 seconds in a chase, or winding up in a pug with 4 survivors on the floor.

I liked old ruin as I thought it allowed early game “slow down”, but trying to equate current ruin with free kills is taking all the onus off of survivors skill at looping, and instead being lazy and saying “feeds most killers free kills”. As someone stated earlier, the current rank reset (combined with the horrific matchmaking) is largely to blame

  • @AVoiceOfReason said:

I want old Ruin back. Didn't punish people who could hit great skill checks and if you could, it didn't affect you. Now you just have to scare someone off of a gen to get great regression for little effort. I just don't understand why they were that worried about new players.

So this is likely tinfoil hat territory, but I believe that the OG ruin nerf was still at the time when bhvr didn’t own DBD. Increasing player count (survivors to be exact) would have been a priority, even if it diluted skill, to gain funds.

im not saying anything is wrong with it, just a thought

  • many things would be fun, but unfortunately these devs nearly break the game with bugs releasing current type killers. I wish we could have new an refreshing things, but I just don’t feel bhvr has the skill.

It should get a middleground where it can do its job but not be abused so much. Like people have suggested make it automatic and for 16 seconds the survivor loses collision unless they work on a gen unhook or anything else. (To remove bt into bt) the middleground approach worked with ds kinda. It'd be nice for bt to actually do its job against campers but not be abused as a weapon.

I’m all for the devs testing things out for the betterment of the game. Hopefully they do more trial runs like they did with blood lust

  • @SeannyD115 said:

I miss the old ruin it put the skill back into skill checks. I also felt like I could rely more on my teammates at red ranks. Now I'm lucky if they even attempt to touch a gen or not go down instantly.

I liked old ruin, but I don’t think it would fit in the current game. Killers adapted when old ruin was nerfed and started slugging a lot more. It would be near impossible for survivors in pug groups to accomplish anything with old ruin in the current meta of slug/gen rush

  • @Orion said:

No. I don't want unsafe unhooks to be incentivized even more, that just rewards campers and hook vultures. If you know the killer is camping, all the more reason not to unhook in their face.

I absolutely agree with this. There are few things that irritate me in this game, but when I’m basically finishing my hook animation and turn to leave only to hear an unhook.... let’s just say I get quite incentivized to go after the person even if they have Bt/ds. BT teaches very bad habits in this game when it comes to unhooks. One of the most valuable assets survivors have is the sheer amount of time they can be on a hook. Careless, rushed rescues just make a killers job easier in most cases.

Good riddance and don't abuse em and you wouldn't of lost them.Every match every survivor and untill true and monti started saying stuff. They were forced to get rid of them

I wasn’t defending old mori I was answering the op question. Judging from other posts, you have quite the problem with reading what folks write.

  • @Tillablerhino44 said:

No all three are correct if you tunnel your a skilless scrub said that from day one. You can abuse take advantage wich is abusing again cheating . And if you tunnel survivor that you can catch instead of chasing the harder one to catch it is skilless. Stop breaking chase's

It’s hopeless. Enjoy being and staying as a potato in this game. The devs cannot hold every clueless persons hand and relying on them to do that will forever make you a victim in your own mind. This is a pvp game.

  • @Tillablerhino44 said:

I never said in the greatest or the worst I just think people that tunnel honestly believe there good and there trash.

So your thoughts on tunnel/camp went from “abusing” to “cheating”, and now it’s progressed to “no skill”. I’m assuming you gave up the first two lines of thought since it was shown that neither are correct.

socwe are left with a subjective “no skill”. Ok now that is an opinion and you are entitled to it. I disagree but I can’t deny you your own opinion. Though I do believe the lack of skill lies elsewhere.

  • Let’s just look at ultra rare mori.... costs 6000 bp to buy and now can’t be used to shorten killer objective in a meaningful way. Much better to burn a bp offering. That’s from a numbers perspective

  • Unfortunately the devs have backed themselves into a corner trying to ride the fence as it pertains to swf v. Solo. At the moment (what I’m about to say is a generalization) killer is a bit over tuned versus a pug group and under tuned versus an swf. They are trying to have their cake and eat it to in this regard. Unfortunately it’s driving away a lot of killers who have zero fun against some swf and at the same time driving away solo Q who get stomped.

they have to make a decision on how they want this game balanced. Just my 2 cents.

  • @UnentitledBunnyMan said:

sweaty SWF on discord = 4 cheaters using CE to show killer aura + survivors aura all the time

While I play killer quite a bit more than survivor, calling voice communication cheating is highly disingenuous. Does it give an advantage? Yes. Cheating? Absolutely not. Cheating by definition is using a mechanism that is not intended to gain an unfair advantage. The devs intend to allow voice comms. It’s THEIR game, they make the rules. Just like camping, tunneling, and slugging is often mistakenly referred to as “cheating” when it’s not.

  • It’s funny watching folks ignore or try and twist moonshrouds words. He quite logical and puts his arguments together quite well. I think similar to him but lack his ability to put it to word.

It’s starting to become clearer. You are one of those people that saves immediately, directly in front of the killer. The purpose of your nonsense is you want to protect your east bp and pips. You don’t like to have the unsafe unhook.

LOL. Just say that then. All this other BS is just an excuse to be a very bad, selfish survivor. The absolute worst kind of teammate

    It is down right cheating.

I’ll try again since you decided not to answer the first time...... this time insert “cheating” for “abusing” though.

Can you please explain to us how killers are “abusing” the mechanics of the game that the devs themselves have stated is perfectly ok? Removing agency in the game results in nothing more than a bot.

  • I personally think a lot has to do with how awful the ground looks on reworked maps. Having it so barren allows the blood to be more noticeable.

  • I personally see hag, blight and nurse putting in some work with this. Hag is a bit more “rng” as survivors will need to step on traps, but nurse and blight can actively hunt.

A coop killer would be hella fun 💪

  • @Tsulan said:

Yes, they need a strong buff to give them some alternatives to standing around.

I said this in another twins post.... unless Charlotte is buffed in some way that makes her more than just an m1 killer, anything they do to victor in terms of a nerf will really hurt this killer. The underlying design of this killer really limits what can be changed.
