  • I haven't had any issues. I just thought PC survivors would actually be good. Not trying to start a war, just saying.

I don’t think Voice meant it that way from his follow up post. In the end maybe I shouldn’t have used an Otz video or mentioned hours/ranks at all in my original post.

My point is if that chase is considered “skillful,” by thr first survivor then you are going to have some AWFUL players in high MMR games and their teammates are gonna pay for it. Solo survivor is about to get super difficult I think.

Mentioning hours/ranks is fair and fine. I firmly believe those two help determine skill. The thing with determining skill today is difficult due to the new rank reset that only lowers you down one color rank instead of two colors (which helped flush out those that don't play vs. those that play more and gain experience) , getting carried by SWF aka boosted, heavily relying on second chance perks, or getting lucky hatch.

MMR will never work, or doesn't exist. When BHVR opened matching making, red ranks would dodge green and gold ranks so BHVR removes seeing ranks in lobbies then say rank doesn't mean skill. Then this whole "MMR" thing comes out. They say play at least play 15 games on one killer to settle in that killer... I've played well over 30 Oni games and still get baby survivors. "If you've played killer already the killer will have a default MMR that matches the killer." Still not the case. The game was the most balanced when rank matching and old rank reset was still a thing.

Gen rush doesn't exist. He chased too long and never applied pressure to the others. Hell, they never even healed xD Not as great as everyone seems to make him out to be. He seems average. Second video, he gets 1 kill.

Just because it's the survivor objective to hold down a button, doesn't mean gen rush doesn't exist. Gen rush is something that exists whether you believe it to be or not. I'm not gonna go an throw out whether you play killer or not, but I can tell it's not often.

Also how is he supposed to apply pressure when he's chasing someone already? He has to down them, take them to a hook, and travel (legion doesn't have much traversal speed) to another survivor that's most likely sitting on a gen on the opposite side of the map. He can't be everywhere at once. If you say he's an average killer you're either trolling or you're the type to rely on second chance perks and call it "skill".

  • Well for 1. I’m not saying red rank = master level. But they experience compared to a yellow, brown, or green rank. Experience is something.

Also that’s why they should combine the old matchmaking with the old rank reset to keep weeding out those that don’t play won’t stay in purple ranks that make it easier for them to get to red rank. And those that continue playing and IMPROVING will get to red rank from green rank ect. shouldn’t have a problem.

Rank is utterly meaningless and is only really indicative of playtime.

A player might be highly skilled, but literally incapable of playing constantly. They'd end up being lower rank, limited by their own playtime simply because they cannot ever pip enough to get to red rank.

Another player (especially on Survivor side) might be low-skilled, but simply played enough lucky matches to pip, or finding skilled players to team with that effectively boosted their rank.

Even BHVR admits this. Skill is more indicated on killer side simply because you have nothing else to rely on. But it isn't a great metric to rely on, and on the survivor side? It's a complete crapshoot hence the "red rank survivor potato" meme.

The real question is this: Is MMR even a thing, and if so, does it function at all? We don't know the answer, because they're hiding any and all details from us. MMR could be vastly superior to ranked matchmaking, or it could be completely non-functional. We will never know unless they choose to introduce a metric that tells us as much.

Cause BHVR is reliable. Not really. They only say that to hide that they messed up match ranking and people were constantly dodging low ranks in lobbies, hence why they removed seeing ranks in lobbies. Rank is a sign of playtime, yes. Playtime also comes with experience. With experience you also have some sort of skill that expands.

Just to let you know, back when survivors could fast vault at any angle & no entity blocker, BHVR said that took skill.

The only reason they’re coming up with this BS is cause Red ranks would dodge lobbies when a Yellow or Brown was see in their lobby. Guess what BHVR did. They removed being able to see ranks in lobbies, and all of sudden “rank doesn’t mean skill.” Aren’t these the save developers that base their balance around low rank mentality?

Also Xbox has one of the smallest DBD player base, and the even now I’m still paired up with baby survivors no matter how much I escape.

I've felt like a paranoid conspiracy theorist for saying this, but...

I've been saying that unless there are actual MMR Ratings displayed, we would never know if BHVR actually "updates" the game with a functioning MMR system or not. Especially considering the fact that they're sticking by rank for some reason despite the fact that they've admitted it isn't indicative of skill level.

And if they refuse to display MMR ratings, and keep ranks, nothing will change on the "player happiness" front. Players will still point to ranks as a meaningful metric, and will scapegoat it in vindication for the losses, etc.

OP's post is somewhat proof that I'm right on that. It's already starting.

I’ve only lost 1/5 games shown on my post. My MMR score should’ve gone up no? Those aren’t all the games I’ve played, I’ve played more, but it’s still rainbow matchmaking. Rank means skill. Even if it’s to an extent.

Keep in mind you only posted 5 games. For all we know you haven't played anything more than the 5. You might need to play 5 more. And your rank will constantly change past that.

All 20 survivors you went against also may not have played their 10 matches either, or might be playing with friends of a higher rank. Or maybe the system just sucks, who knows. But it's still too early to tell. Even if you'd play 10 matches in a day, someone else might play 10 matches in a couple weeks, because that's all the time they have for this game. So their MMR is going to be wonky for the first few weeks because the system hasn't averaged out their "skill" yet.

I played well over 30 games since MMR activated. Same results.

  • @Peanits How is this okay? If MMR is activated, those low ranks shouldn't be getting paired up with OP. Sure DCing is lame, but at the same time I don't blame them for DCing for getting paired with a killer that is far above their skill cap. It's also evenly unfair for high tier survivors to get paired with low tier survivors, cause it's not my job to hold their hands. I'll leave them on the hook and they can earn their "high MMR" on their own. I've been getting survivors that immediately throw shack pallet when they see a killer coming their direction 16 meters away. So how is that fair to me when I get in a chase and all the pallets are gone? This MMR is all over the place with low tier survivors paired with high tier killers or high tier survivors paired with low tier killers.

  • Why would devs nerf their biggest source of income?

  • As long as your playing killer you're always going to get the short end of the stick. Also if you expect anything good from BHVR good luck. Nothing nice lasts in this game... unless you play survivor.. sometimes.

  • @Peanits dont you think this is a problem? Not OoO but the map layout per se? I don’t think this is fun for either survivor nor killer

You also gotta take into consideration if they're VPN'ing.

I highly doubt all the huntress’ I played against are all on a VPN. I also play huntress and I use an Ethernet cord with 60 ping more or less and my hatchets hit/down survivors which visibly don’t even hit them

  • i doubt its “latency” which is a sorry excuse the devs made up for everything. As I said, I play huntress and my hatchets explode when they hit nothing when the survivors perfectly “dodge” my hatchets.

  • To anyone that says “to her you were probably there” that’s absolutely false. Not saying it doesn’t happen, but if anyone has played huntress... even on your screen it won’t show the hatchet connect unless you hit the survivor running in a straight line. On my screen... I’ve hit survivors even though they “dodged” the hatchet, the hatchet will explode and show blood even though it didn’t connect. The whole “latency” as an answer to most things, if not everything, is just a weak and lazy counter argument.

Player numbers on Steam are still stable last time I checked.

There are no real alternatives seeing as how bad F13 and Last Year turned out to be.

And Resident Evil... I wouldn't put smoke up a game's arse that is not even released yet.

Also the game keeps improving steadily for years now. Yes the matchmaking is ######### at the moment. But they are working on it.

The only thing for me is to protect the few gens next to the basement. This alone often guaranteed me at least a 2k in late game if not more. Also there is no toxic playstyle. Anything that helps you win is OK. If survivors flame you, just ignore them and move on. Too many killer players play too passive and nice but then complain they can't win.

The game gets better in some things, but whenever they “improve” something, something else breaks. They don’t know how to fix things without breaking something else. No game is perfect, but I’ve never played a game that is so infested with bugs. They talk about balance, but seems to me they don’t even know themselves how to balance.

  • I feel you dude. I end chases in 16 seconds and gens still pop yet these devs want you to “pReSsUrE GeNs” I doubt MOST of them play their own game. And when they do it’s not high ranks. They don’t understand that gen speeds even by themselves are too quick even without toolboxes. Thankfully the new resident evil coming in a month is releasing their own 4v1 asymmetrical, and I can see a lot of this fan base leaving to their or other games (which has already happened)
