  • Idec anymore. Playing solo is so awful, I can't fault anybody for deciding they don't want to deal with it anymore.

Like, honestly, why would anybody want to sit around so they can get camped or tunneled? You can't get any tasks done, and it's not rewarding or fun. If you don't own DS, you're SOL, and in a solo-q environment, other survivors aren't going to try to assist you. You may as well leave and try a different lobby and hope for a killer who isn't caveman killer thumping his chest like "Unhook bad, me god-tier killer, no unhook in my game"

  • People keyed out twice and you're crying about it on the forums? How is that even bullying?

Bullying is like the entire group chain blinding you, or tbagging, or body blocking. That, sure, I can see being upset over.

    Using a key, tho?

Seriously? You have to be kidding. Maybe if it was a four-man key out with a map and the works, sure, but cmon.

The sooner the Patch comes and makes the "Hungry Hill" extinct, the better. I can't address the specific Killer experience you had, but I've never seen anyone do that. It would be long and boring for the Killer too. It is also worth less points. The lost potential in chasing, hitting, downing, and hooking you multiple times is very cutting. So, I think you just had bad luck with a very rare exception of a bad player. We have to judge things by the Bell Curve, not the statistical outliers.

For my own part, I'm always torn when I come across the stuck person. If I notice them, and I'm ashamed to say I'm often so busy chasing other people that I have missed it before, I hit them and hook them and then leave the area so someone can pull them off. I consider this tax a fair exchange for the release. What I will not do is:

    1. Use a stuck Survivor to charge up my Stalk and go Tier-3 Myers for free. This would be unethical.
    2. Leave the Survivor there until everyone else is dead. This too is unethical.

I'm not going to drop a chase or important activity I've got going on the second I see them stuck (that would be prohibitive to me depending on what is going on) but I will get them out as soon as it is possible without handing over a different hook or generator in the process. All this being said, this is just what "I" do. I don't really think it is my place to tell other Killers how they should handle the situation. I had one Survivor mad that I didn't down them and drop them. I got grief for still putting them on the hook. I was like, look... I lost time and valuable chase/pressure getting you out of the hill. I didn't HAVE to do it. Some people are never happy.

I mean, that has happened to me before where I was stuck and the killer was otherwise occupied or maybe did not notice me, and that is completely understandable, imo. I think I'd likely do the same thing where it'd be easier to finish a chase, get that done with and get the stuck survivor off the hill after I'd hooked the one I'd been after.

It's the endgame scenario that has been bugging me. In general, I have been getting left to die to endgame WITHOUT being stuck in the hill just because, frankly, some console killers are spiteful and because they can't rage in chat they'll do things like that. I'm not one to DC because I like my BP so I'll just do something else while we both wait.

However, doing it to someone who is stuck in the hill seems like a reportable offense to me. Like, it's trolling or bug abuse, but I didn't want to go about dealing false reports so I figured I'd ask.

I don't know about two of the other cases, but in one case I know for sure that survivor was stuck in the hill from the start of the match, as we'd both spawned near a hill gen and I had watched him get stuck in there from the very beginning, so I can't really figure out what he was getting punished for by being left to die to endgame after the rest of us had died.

  • This sounds like a very "Mad cos bad" thread.

If you can't secure a kill without camping and then want to act like its the perks' fault, you really should just

    -play more and gain experience

-try to learn a little, maybe watch a YT video

Camping only means you're just never going to learn any strats and are going to be dunked on every match you actually try anyway, so you're just going to stew in your current state out of spite instead of even attempting to better yourself.

And sure, nobody can stop you from camping or tunneling, but nobody owes you any respect for it and there's no glory in being hated for playing like a cheapwad because you'd rather do that instead of gain any actual skill.

i dont know what to say other than get gud thats pretty much it sure it sucks but its a team you will get bad teammates

There is no get gud scenario here, dude. This is not about losing or winning or BP or rank or anything of the sort.

Like that you would even say that is tone deaf to the issue at hand, which is that this is now a reoccurring theme to the point where this game is forcing its players to SWF and run sweaty perks instead of even attempting to do something about it--when the entire point of this game was supposed to be a minimal comms (pointing, follow-gesture) horror survival game. Not the "Just do gens while killer stares at 1 person lol" game, and crossplay has made the issue worse than ever.

If this is not something you care about, I don't see why you're even pretending to address it.

dont go for the save then its not my fault you cant just hold m1

I don't go for the save, you are literally not reading a word.

What I am saying is that your average survivor goes for the save. I do not go for saves, BUT at least one in a solo-q setting WILL go for the save either because they don't know or they think they can make it, forcing myself and the last person to play the hatch waiting game.

If you can communicate that to your team, that's one thing, but playing solo 9/10 if you are being camped, or someone is being camped, one of the others is going to at least attempt to help.

Every time I have tried to buy my team time playing solo, at least one person ends up coming along, and they are then the next person camped.

Again, another reason why playing solo is just going to be worse. When I SWF, we all do gens and 3 survive if 1 doesn't get caught in endgame, when I go solo, at least two are camped and then the last two just try to wait each other out for hatch.

Solo survivors, for the most part, do not play this game like a team game, and it's going to be impossible to play solo now with a whole new platform of campers that are more malicious than ever because they can't troll in text too.

Solo Q is going to be dead and gone.

To respond to both of you, I'm just going to point out the obvious: Petty DC'ing has nothing to do with the game being "Unplayable" and everything to do with rigging the game in the players favor.

Enter a match on a map you don't like, or against players that are good at the game: DC

Enter a match on a map you like, or against players that are easy to oppose: Don't DC, and get an easy win.

There is nothing about that logic that takes into account the other players and their enjoyment, or even factors in a match that is "unplayable". To me, an unplayable match is one that has:

    1. A Game breaking bug rendering you incapable of playing a normal match.
    2. A Player(s) taking the game hostage/hacking/exploiting bugs or unintentional game mechanics/bullying or griefing you. (Record if possible, and Report them after leaving the match).

People who DC over these instances are very rare. Whereas Petty DC'ers do it simply because they don't like the map they are on, the fact that they got spotted by the killer first, they lost a hex totem in the first 20 seconds of the game, they don't like player(s) they are up against regardless of their skill level, the team brought in an item they hate, the killer is one they don't like or brought in an offering they don't approve of, etc... these players aren't DC'ing because the game is unplayable, they are doing it because they don't want to take up the challenge when they can simply keep DC'ing until they find a match in their favor against weaker opponents. This is why DC'ing reached epidemic levels, not because there was something wrong with the games design, because the game was unplayable or broken, or even because a mechanic made one side or the other OP... they do it to rig the game in their favor, and screw everyone else over in the process for petty, selfish, overentitled and unsportsmanlike reasons for their sole enjoyment.

Does any of that sound like its the devs fault? What could the devs possibly do to appease this kind of toxic and unsportsmanlike player base that were/are KILLING the game to make it "enjoyable" enough that players like this will refrain from DC'ing?

This is a Multiplayer game, which by its nature, entitles absolutely NO ONE to win every match, yet these players DC habitually in order to rig it so that they can. They don't give a damn about the rest of the players they screw over for their own enjoyment, they don't even have a shred of empathy or intent to be a good sport and take up a challenge, they don't care about the health of the game or what their petty actions are doing to its community, reputation or future... they just want an easy match, and if they don't get one, they DC for any and every petty reason as soon as the match drops out of their favor in order to find one where they are more guaranteed to win.

What's worse: by behaving like this, at one point the DC'ing gets so rampant, that they create a chain reaction wherein players DC in response to a player DC'ing because there is no point to keep playing if someone on the team isn't going to commit, Eventually this gets out of hand, and we reach "EPIDEMIC" levels of DC'ing that threatens to kill the game. It's not because the devs did something that made the game unplayable, its because the game became unplayable due to too many players setting off a domino effect of DC's... which is exactly why the game almost died last summer.

@Kellie , @CyanideBlaze , How do the devs put a stop to this that doesn't involve punishing that kind of toxic, bratty, overentitled, and unsportsmanlike behavior? If you have the answer... I'd love to hear it.

I am not in the habit of DCing myself, I think in the time I have played this game I have only intentionally DC'd once because a killer was being toxic, and while I normally tough it out for the team, I didn't want to put up with it that day.

However, while petty DCs do happen, the amount of DCs I normally see are pretty understandable to me--that being someone who was facecamped, someone who was tunneled and got downed immediately after unhook or as they were getting unhooked, or even killers who were getting bullied by the survivors in the game. (I watched one killer get looped for hours, tbagged, body blocked and then spam blinded and it damn near made ME wanna DC before he did.) There is also this current trend of killers just slugging all the survivors so it's harder than simply unhooking them and you have to wait for them to recover or heal them and risk yourself, or slugging or one of two remaining survivors so there isn't even the possibility of getting hatch and is just exhausting to the point where when people see That Killer (Legion, if it's not clear I'm talking about Legion.) nobody wants to play against them.

There are certain mechanics that just don't make for a great gaming experience and while everyone wants to scream from the rafters "GIT GUUUUUUUUD!" there are players who either don't have the time or the patience to try and work around said mechanics, and those are what I personally see happening most often and I can't say I fault the players for it. Obviously, nobody expects to win 100% of the time, but when just accomplishing basic tasks in the game like getting a few hooks or getting enough points to just safe-pip is a chore or far more difficult than anybody signed up for, there are issues there than someone saying "this match is waste of time."--because that match IS a waste of time. You're not getting rewarded for that match one way or another.

Nobody wanna deal with a facecamping Bubba, being mori'd after first hook, being unhooked just to be immediately hooked again, that ONE claud that hides with key all game or a 4-man SWF with anniversary flashlights equipped last second (Heck, just a 4-man in general).

The only thing I can really recommend is making at least some of these things bannable offenses or removing certain things like Moris and keys entirely, and nerfing things like flashlights. Like make t-bagging or face camping something that can be reportable, implementing things like other games do where certain behavior results in XP/BP penalties for X amount of games, or, for PC users, being muted in post-game chat. Personally, I think the most detrimental thing to killers in this game IS the post-game chat. I see them get flamed whether they won or they lost, and I'll report it when I see it but the facts are that this has proven itself to be a community that can't police itself, thus needing things to be baby-proofed by Devs and that has players who take issue with the game playing out of addiction or stubbornness or a want to ruin the game for the other team more than anything else. Options are fix mechanics that people hate and weed out players who only log on with the intent of angering either their teammates or their opponents.

Oh I read it just fine, but I can't agree with you at all because of this:

"However, without the disconnect penalty and I have a survivor disconnect against me, I can simply leave the match and queue for another game."

Your argument is that because the DC penalty is gone, you are free to DC whenever you want in response to another player DC'ing, So, In your words, you are responding to a petty DC'er... by committing the same offense over equally petty reasoning. 2 wrongs don't make a right, and like I said in my previous comment:

"Disconnecting is currently being punished for a good reason: Too many DC's from too many players results in leaving the community as a whole with a sour experience, and could eventually kill the game we love."

You were around in March-July 2019 when the "DC epidemic" hit its peak where 9 out of every 10 games had one or more people DC over petty reasons, and the player base started to plummet over it since no one could even play a full match most of the time, so I feel you have no excuse for making this post in favor of letting DC's go unpunished again. Honestly if it weren't for the publicity and new players brought in by Ghost Face and Demogorgon, as well as the return of a DC ban wave from the devs in mid July 2019 to get the epidemic under control, this game would have flat out died. I'm still dumbfounded that the devs didn't incorporate the automatic DC ban system sooner than December of last year, and ever since they did (until recently anyway), the game has been far more enjoyable for it, because we have been able to play full matches without the threat of "Petty DC's" ruining all of our experiences.

Sure, there have been a few victims of it who did nothing wrong and got a DC ban over crappy internet connections, game crashes, and hacker attacks, but compared to how often people DC'd during the epidemics peak, those situations have been few and far between. The entire design of the DC ban system is to put a stop to "Petty" and "Habitual" DC'ers who ruin the game for everyone, and when it went down during the anniversary event, the DC epidemic started to rear its ugly head again, but fortunately DC Penalties came back, stamping out the problem before it could truly reach epidemic levels again. But now here we are again, without that safety net to keep toxic and unsportsmanlike players at least a little "honest", and yet you are arguing the merits of letting it all slide because its "Convenient" for you.

    Let me ask you something:

If you DC every time a survivor DC's, and this game gets back to epidemic DC levels because we no longer have a ban system in place... At what point does anyone actually get to play the damn game?

Your careless attitude and opinions about one of the largest problems this game and community has ever had to suffer through, is neither helpful or welcome. In my eyes, you are being a blatant and unapologetic contributor to the problem, and I don't care for people of whom, through appalling arrogance or ignorance, make posts like this one, because when all is said and you've made your point... it doesn't change the fact that you are arguing in favor of killing a game I love.

Honestly, though, is it really the players fault at that point? If a game almost dies because that many of the matches are getting thrown by people who hate certain mechanics, that's not on the playerbase so much as game mechanics making the game unplayable for a large enough number of the players to put the game itself jeopardy.

If it gets to the point where everybody is DCing for this or that reason and the game begins to die, to me the issue is the thing making everybody DC and it's something the Devs should look into.

Like, if everyone is finding aspects of the game that make certain matches unplayable to the point where 9/10 games have a DC at that point it sounds to me like maybe it's just a bad game and needs fixing, and if it starts happening again, well... 🤷‍♀️

DC penalty or no, sometimes this game is unplayable. It's alright right now, but during events? Horrible. The worst games I've ever had in my life. When new stuff gets released, be it events, killers, new rift thingy, it goes straight to the dogs and you have to ditch it for at least a few days because there's nothing in place to stop some players from abusing certain mechanics.

The Doctor is far from broken. Your inability to loop him and dodge his shocks are broken.

Idk why this site keeps deleting my posts, but what I'm tryna say is,

He has a crummy skillset to play against, I don't like playing against him, and I don't care to sit around and get hyper focused by a killer who has far too much range, you can't even really hide from in some cases, and I will take a penalty over having to sit around and endure playing against him.

Idc if I can become a God Player that can Learn to Loop every Doc and I'm Just Bad, like I'm not playing this game to sweat and suffer.

Also, like I said, this is the first time I decided not to suffer through a game against him, so screw me I guess for hating a killer.

The Doctor is far from broken. Your inability to loop him and dodge his shocks are broken.

He can shock you through things and he really only has to look at gens and shock in that direction to then figure out where 1-2 survivors are. Or he can do like that radius thing where he doesn't even have to be looking at you. Like idk what to tell you, it's not fun to play against and if you're looping him, he need only keep shocking you, and that's it. He doesn't even have to be particularly close, and then to top it off, every doctor you play against ends up tunneling you so you get chased right off the hook and immediately hooked again. I'm not here for it. Call me bad or whatever, but I think his skillset sucks and I'll take a penalty if it means I don't have to play against him.

  • @SloppyKnockout said:

You see, people like you are a perfect reason the DC penalty exists. There's plenty of legitimate reasons to DC. "I don't like this killer" isn't one of them.

I mean, I was ready and willing to take that penalty, and personally?

Not being in the mood to play against broken mechanics every game is a valid enough reason in my book. You think I want to spend 10-15 minutes being shocked, chased, shocked, chased, shocked, hit, hooked, unhooked, shocked, shocked, hit, hooked, unhooked, shock, shock, killed?

I don't care for it and I don't care if you think it's valid or not.

  • I mean, if I am being completely honest.......

I was asking because I really hate playing against the doctor. Normally I suffer through it and try my best for the team, but today I was already having a bad day and I really just hated being spam shocked and I DC'd intentionally for the first time since installing this game.

I really hate playing against him, and today I just couldn't do it anymore, so I DC'd and got off the game.

  • Idk, survivors will just sort of Be Like That sometimes.

I played against a Pigface n finished three gens, got off multiple unhooks, healed teammates, etc, and still when I got downed at the gate my teammates tbagged me and called me names in endgame chat even though I had more points than them after being sacrificed than they got even after surviving.

Sometimes it helps to understand that other survivors can so far up their own asses they literally cannot comprehend what another person is doing in the game even if it's their best.

Problem is both sides have things that have no counter play, so if we take one of those from one side the other side now has a huge advantage, and yes u have no counter play u can do yourself but considering it's 1v4 and 4 perks against 16 I'd say it's actually kinda fair how it is, killers are punished in a way when they camp as others in this post have said, survivors can finish pretty much every gen b4 that person dies so its really a bad idea unless that survivor kills themself on hook and in that case it would be the survivor messing the team over.

There is a very big difference between broken perks and being camped. Killers and survivors both have things that are pretty broken, sure, but even if you are up against survivors running sweat builds, usually if they are not a SWF they aren't coordinated enough that there is absolutely nothing you can do against them. As a killer, you can at the very least make an attempt against them and get one or two. You are still, be you a survivor or a killer up against broken perks, able to play the game to an extent and make an effort.

Being camped, however, means that player in unable to play the game, get any points and it is an automatic gg go next for the person on the hook.

Like the two situations are not the same. One person is up against an OP thing utilized by people who wanna win no matter the cost, the other person is pressing spacebar and dying after 2 minutes because a killer decided it's more important for them to ruin the match for at least 1-2 people.

Now it's like the opposite where I'm grateful if even one game doesn't involve me getting camped or just hyper focused all match. It's literally stressful being chased, hooked, unhooked, chased some more, hooked, unhooked, chased and then killed.

This is very true, I have had tons of very logical arguments made on these forums, like

    "Git gud"

    "Just run DS"

    "Don't get hooked. uwu"

"Broken matchmaking forces u to LEArN"

    "Just mori them."

    "Camping is a STRAT uwu"

  • I played a lot of Overwatch before DBD.

Now no amount of toxicity, no amount of struggle in OW compares. I am straight up chilling in that game. I used to SWEAT in that game. Now I'm like nice to have a game where you can't be camped every match, where you can play off-meta stuff outside of competitive and still win. Where most of the time nobody says anything unless you're in comp and while yeah, sometimes things get toxic, for the most part comms are silent.

It's making me realize that probably DBD just isn't fun and most of the people who play it at a length are really just addicted--as I was at a time with other games like CSGO.

  • Eh, I don't even care about mori's, I mean some are annoying like the Myers one where u could just be running past him, not hurt, never hooked n now u ded, but like........

It's the camping. I am so sick of the camping, dude, like I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sick of the camping, like I get tunneled and camped pretty much every game, and everyone goes like "Just use DS and this perk and that perk uwu" like but then u use em n everyone is like "Why YoU sWeAtINg" but then every time I don't use em I'm camped and I'm out here getting carpal tunnel pressing spacebar.

  • Looool what is it about cakes?

Gosh, even all my friends in this game are cake crazy. SHe seekin em out like hell in the bloodweb, askin everybody in the chat like "Cakes? Cakes? U put a cake, I'll put a cake"

Why is everyone so pressed about em? Like BP are nice but tbh it's not THAT hard to come by that not having 5 cakes in a game will be a huge loss.

That said, I really don't think I HAVE seen a killer put down a cake in most of my matches. I can only recall once because my friend screamed in my ear "FIVE CAKES!!!"

  • Fam it is no fun for the survivors, either.

Just let it go, tbh, and if you get to hatch before the other guy, so be it. Literally that entire chunk of text just sounds like you are too friggin stressed, fam, and you either need a break or to care less about that last kill. The important thing is that you have fun in a match, and if slugging for a 4k ain't doin it for you, then don't do it.

Lmao yeah, I hear you. I can't imagine this is fun for either side. Can't wait for the new matchmaking to go live (assuming it ever does *sigh*)

All the new matchmaking will do is hide ranks so people stop complaining that it doesn't work properly.

Wait, where are y'all getting news about matchmaking changes? I think I missed it

    The game is already fun

My point is that using "fun" as a reason to change a killer's mechanics is a subjective and dangerous way to balance the game, as a lot of the time these are salt posts. Clearly, the guy playing that killer is having "fun" with them, so how are you even going to weigh such input?

I think it might be like a majority rules at that point.

Like a one person on the train tracks vs four situation.

But alsoooooo..... Eh, both killers and survivors are extremely toxic and for some having "fun" really means bullying the other and if we wanna look at ingame bully potential, some killers kinda have more than others. Like, there's a reason people associate Leatherface, Doc n Gunslinger with bad times all around. Meanwhile Survivors will tbag, clicky clicky, try to compose a whole toxic SWF team, find your social media, and then leave mean comments on your deviant art page.

  • My friend was playing Quentin, I was playing Jake.

My friend was downed in the basement, I was downed on the steps leading to the basement. The killer walked towards my friend and turned to see me shaking my entire body "No" at the top of the steps.

He spared me and my friend that match and he said, in the match chat,

"God, I looked at your stupid face, Quentin, and then I looked up and I saw that stupid Jake shaking his stupid body no...

Thank your lucky stars, Quentin, and Jake, ur cute."

  • Don't use "fun" as a metric for a game?

    Competitive shouldn't = Not fun

Games in general are for the enjoyment of players.

Personally, I don't have an issue with specific killers, I just hate being camped. That's my only issue with the game, if I'm being completely honest, and Idrc how i lose otherwise. My big issues are Campers and broken matchmaking. That's it.

But still, just in general it doesn't sound sensible for any game to be like

"Lets throw the concept of fun out the window! We need to base this game on Competitive Gamers™ and not give a rats ass about the bulk of the player base! You know, the ones playing for fun. Who needs those?"

Survivors, in that situation, get little to no choice in what is going to take place in the game, while the killer is afforded the option.

Yes, that's what the role was made for, to be put in a situation where you have to overcome a stronger opponent who has more agency than you. I don't understand why so many survivors seem surprised by this.

I am not talking about normal gameplay, like YEAH, clearly survivors shouldn't be OP and able to overcome ANY situation. I am talking about tunneling and camping specifically. How are you supposed to "outplay" that without loading up on every single evasion/exhaustion perk in the game? Which only really gets you so far in the first place. Nobody is playing this game so they can be chased around the map, unable to do gens, totems, or anything other than get hooked and released, hooked and released, then hooked a final time while all their teammates are ignored until they've died at which point its someone else's turn.

Which, nobody is surprised by this, but somehow killers seem surprised when survivors hate them for it.

Why do people always bring up this, "Ruining the game for others by trying to win" nonsense?

Should they not try to win? Do survivors hold back and not try to win?

Why is it the responsibility of the killer to worry about how survivors feel about their strategies? Do survivors really stay up at night worrying about what the killer thought of their actions?

Why is your "game ruined" because you lost? Why should your opponent concern themselves with this? Do survivors ever change their gameplay based on this idea? Do you stop running a loop that it's clear the killer doesn't know how to handle because you're concerned you're making their game not fun enough?

I don't know why there's this pervasive idea that it's the job of the killer to constantly think about the feelings of their opponents and change their gameplay accordingly, but it's the biggest pile of nonsense I've ever seen in any gaming community.

It's literally not all that dramatic, though.

If I run perks as a survivor to give me every possible advantage, if I get into a whole SWF group and we load up on flashlights with the singular goal being to bully a killer, that's toxic.

Nobody gets upset about losing, people get upset about whether or not they were able to play the game before losing.

Losing because you keep getting caught? That's fine. Because hatch was closed in your face? Also fine. Because you tried a stupid play and it didn't work? Fine.

But going out of your way to tunnel or camp effectively is choosing to make one player unable to play the game and it's inconsiderate, the same way SWF groups will load into a lobby without the intention of doing gens, totems or any kind of daily objective and will actively aim to make a killer chase em around til they DC.

Survivors, in that situation, get little to no choice in what is going to take place in the game, while the killer is afforded the option. To tunnel or camp or not to tunnel or camp? To play the game with no skill or effort or to actually try? Why even play this game if you don't want to patrol gens, outsmart or hook different people? If you want to chase down the same person over and over and secure kills that way, you may as well play any sort of FPS out there.

There's a difference between doing your job as a killer and being toxic.

Being toxic is intentionally going out of your way to ruin the game experience for the other side just for your own satisfaction.

Doing what you're supposed to do as killer, isn't being toxic.

    Honestly? This.

If you're playing this game because you want to have fun, complete objectives, or just keep in practice for the next set of rift objectives, then yeah. You're not gonna read as toxic.

But when you say stuff like this

I agree. People in this game are nothing more than ai to me.

That suggests to me that you really just thrive off of trying to ruin the game for others. You don't like being called toxic? When you admit to actively trying to make the game less fun for others because you want to win above all else, like how are you surprised nobody ingame likes playing with you?

Like, closing the hatch doesn't sound toxic to me, that ######### is funny af tbh, but tunneling isn't even fun killer-side either. It's the most boring way to play killer. Idk what you're expecting from this thread, really. Validation? You wanna play in a way that makes people dislike you and you don't care about people AT ALL, yaaaay? Other players are AI you don't care about? YaaYyY!

  • @SupaSlay3r20 said:

What do you think the devs could implement to deter people from camping?

I saw someone suggest something that I thought was pretty good before, which was the Devs make it so gens repair speed is increased while a killer is within 5 to 10 feet of the hooked survivor and/or give the survivors double BP for as long as the killer is facecamping.

  • @LordRegal said:

If the concern is that they can rank up "anyway" by not camping in other games...then I fail to see what the problem is here...you punish them in the games they camp, this forces them to play without camping in more games to retain their rank, which means they play fewer games where they camp. Keep that going long enough and they may just get tired of losing every game they camp. Positive reinforcement from playing normally and negative reinforcement from camping both contribute to this change in mentality.

What I am saying is that it's not about rank, though. They can get to whatever rank they want, and then camp when they feel like it because it's really a troll move. The first killer is rank 2 camping and he can camp like, what? 15 more games and still stay a red rank at the end of the day. That's 15 potential games ruined for people he gets matched with.

That's assuming he depips every match, too.

Not that I think they care at all about it, I think red-ranks who camp do so because they like to camp red-rank survivors specifically.

  • I'm tryna go for both, but tbh....

playing killer is like 1000 times harder than survivor and survivors tend to be more mean so I'm now debating just fully going survivor main.

  • @thrawn3054 said:

I don't know what to tell you. The counter to camping is finish the gens and gtfo. Does it make for a boring ass game? Yes. And likely everyone will either depip or safety at best. But your only alternative is feeding the camper.

Y'all acting like this does anything to help, though, and it doesn't.

I'm sayin something has to be implemented to deter camping. Feeding or not feeding the camper doesn't matter at this point because one or the other doesn't stop them.

ill try to keep it short:

    1) yes, its not your responibility to "play jesus on the cross". then again, as i previously stated, all you do by immediately quitting is encouraging them to keep doing it, aswell as keeping them in the ranks where you are going to meet them again. dont complain about campers / ask for "camping penalities" (which, little fun fact: are there, yet they wont be applied when you just insta quit) in that case though. YOU are the reason they are doing it after all, if you want them to change, you gotta change your own behavior first.

    2) if quitting the game early wasnt a problem, the DC penality system in itself wouldnt be needed. and no, hook suicides dont only occur on camping games, they occur whenever survivor X has found reason Y as to why they dont want to play this trial anymore. that may be killer, map, teammates, performance, etc (the same reasons people tended to use to DC, which apparently is bannable). and even if we were to apply them to a camping game, you are right! i am complaining about them not waiting out these 120 seconds, as now i am the one hooked eventually. you actively denied me the ability to participate in a normal game, aswell as everyone else on your team. thats the reason people get banned for DCs, i dont at all see why it shouldnt be the reason for early game hook suicides aswell.

    3) i am not "abusing the reporting system" at all. by quitting a game early you ruin it for everyone else after all, its actually comparable to trolling or sandbagging me, which both are listed as reportable offenses (cause, you know, they ruin others experiences). camping itself is not reportable for two reasons: 1) due to it being a legitimate strategy that WOULD have counterplay to it, would you just wait out these 120 seconds on the hook and 2) due to the lack of a definition to the term "camping". when is a killer actually camping? when are they defending the hook? when are they just trespassing, when are they doing normal killer interactins with the environment around the hook, when are they setting up traps, etc.

    4) the time it takes you to find a match has nothing to do with the time you waste to a camper - the two minutes shouldnt matter at all when you wait for 10 to 15 minutes anyway. actually, this ties in very nicely with my previous argument, stating that by encouraging these players and allowing them to keep their rank, you waste a LOT more time in the long run, as you basically ensure you will meet them again and again.

okay, looking back at the wall of text i have provided you with keeping it short didnt really work out that well, so ill try to sum it up:

you are basically defending early game DCs here.

those have always ruined the game for everyone else and there is a very good reason why the Devs have started banning people for it.

stop being so selfish any start thinking about the others you play this game with.

    1) You are going to run into campers in ALL ranks because they exist in ALL ranks and will do so whenever they please even if they otherwise play normal because, like I said, some killers wanna troll and they will rank up when they want or derank when they want and they will troll when they want. The idea that it ties in with rank at all and that you can somehow avoid them in certain ranks or keep them from certain ranks is false. It is a troll strat, and extending that troll game is really only benefiting the camper who is doing it for personal satisfaction and nothing else. The way a camper sees it, that one person already being ######### over is enough. Whatever happens after that is irrelevant and no amount of 2 or 3 survivors making it changes that. If that strat ever worked, we would not have Killers as high as rank 1 doing that. There are literally YT videos with killers who laugh as they facecamp and don't give a damn about gens. (Off the top of my head, TUR Jay, and I think Jaee does it too sometimes.)

2.) One person is already being denied being able to play the game normally, and reporting them for choosing not to be camped IS an abuse. Sometimes people consider that to be the right choice in a situation and are not trying to sandbag or ruin your experience, they have already had their experience ruined by the camper. It is in no way like an early DC or suiciding bc you just hate the killer/map/perks. That player would have not otherwise done that had the killer not made them feel like it forced their hand. Some of us don't have time to waste. Also, the survivor is not the issue, the camper is, so again, if you want to report people why not report the camper? You're just blaming someone for not taking an L for you when camping is so rampant these days, I really don't see how you all think "Aww make em derank!!" is even a strat for dealing with them at this point.

3.) Personally, I am talking about face camping and very clear-cut denial of people trying to get another survivor off the hook, even at the sacrifice of the rest of the survivors escaping.

4.) It is everything to do with it, I don't want to sit around and wait for a match so I can just get tilted because I'm being camped and have to do a full minute of spacebar mashing when I already have carpal tunnel and joint issues from my line of work (it's one thing if I only have to do it for the time it takes to get rescued, another if every match I'm camped--which is every other match these days and I am rank three playing ranks 5 to 1 killers-- I have to do it for a full minute. Which, god bless Pyramid Head's skillcheck cages, if second hooks could be skillchecks life would be joy.) when, in the time I would have spent mashing spacebar until it became painful and I died I could just Q for my next game, give my hands a rest and watch a YT video.

    TLDR:

Early DC's because of pettiness =/= not wanting to indulge in a killer being satisfied they facecamped you to the end, and the dev's have put "penalties" for camping, too, so clearly it is not an intended strat for the game. It's boring an irritating, and expecting people to put up with it, when, frankly, drawing the camping out doesn't make a difference and has not lead any campers to stop camping, suggests more to me that it's a better policy to either DC as a group and not give them the time they want to camp you for or to line up for him and again, get it over with as fast as possible.

The best remedy to camping is to not care about camping, because if combatting camping as you suggest were working in the slightest, you wouldn't have them in red ranks doing the same old thing.

excuse me please, but where exactly do you take these numbers from?

as far as i am concerned, a single hookstage takes 60 seconds to go through, two of which you will have to endure, totalling to a maximum of 120 seconds (2 minutes) of being facecamped.

asking someone to wait out these 120 seconds shouldnt be asked too much - and by doing so you A: buy your team an actual chance against the killer, aswell as B: punishing the killer for their bahavior.

if you dont do that, the killer gets what they want - they get to kill majority of the players in the trial AND to rank up, so you literally give them no incentive to ever play any different.

if you dont want to wait out these 120 seconds, you passively encourage killers to continue this behavior, therefore you basically ensure you will meet more killers that camp, so less games you can play normally.

I was talking about the time it takes to get into the match, and they are from my own experience. I go to work and I go to classes, so I have to play either late at night, which Q times are pretty good for me then, or early in the morning, when Q times are awful for me. That is to say, I am not gonna wait 10-15 minutes to get into a match so I can be facecamped and, honestly?

It is not my responsibility to be Jesus on the cross for every other survivor NOR is it my responsibility to punish killers for anything they may do. That's on the Devs.

Clearly community policing and social shaming isn't doing anything to stop them, and nobody who camps actually cares about ranking up or anything to do with the game. They just care about ruining the game for 1 player at the least.

Actually, it's a lot more reasonable for ALL the survivors to either DC or die on the hook immediately and simply not talk to them at all. Short games for everyone involved and the killer doesn't get to have the satisfaction of people even trying against them--which is what they like. They like irritating people, or they wouldn't be camping. Rank has nothing to do with it, kills have nothing to do with it, they are trolls. Gunrushing, only letting them get one kill doesn't matter because at the end they still got their objective--to troll at least one survivor.

And again, reporting survivors because they didn't buy YOU time and would rather just gg go next rather than miserably stare a camper in the face is not only an abuse of the report system, they didn't do anything against the rules for you to report them, but it's also selfish. "Boo hoo I didn't get my extra 60 seconds to do this gen and now I'M the one getting camped. The campers have WON. U get reporded. Wah, I'm struggling on this hook, they should have too then I might not be here. :'<"

If you want to abuse the report system so bad and report people for not doing as you wish, you might as well report the killers for camping in the first place instead of blaming people for simply choosing to not put up with bullshit.

"Killers tunneling you right out of the game/generally looking for ways to just ruin your game"

here's your problem - you're convinced that's what they're doing but really they're just playing the game. It's their job to kill you and they're going to do it in any number of ways they can. 3v1 is a lot better than 4v1.

If you're mad at bad teammates - find the good teammates and talk to them after the game, and MAKE FRIENDS. Suddenly you'll have a great team every time

If you're mad at toxic comments - that's harder but just say GG and leave the game after you're done. You can't stop people from being ######### to each other, but you can block the communication by making your profile private on steam. I'm not familiar with the other platforms tbh.

Tbh, about the second, "make friends!" bit, I don't recommend it at all.

I've never added a "good" survivor and had them be anything other than a POS with an awful personality. I'ma say it, y'all can be mad but DBD is not the make-friends-ingame kinda game. You either have friends who play it or you don't. If you meet someone down the line who plays it or you bring a friend into the game, that is cool, but meeting friends ingame? Nah, sir.

Literally tried that and I got ######### weirdos. One dude who just snapped if I said anything, another guy who made jokes about me dying IRL so many times I got uncomfortable and worried, another guy who Talked. Like. This. That's. How. He. Talked. Four. Hours. For. One. Line. Or they have just been your run of the mill, toxic survivor main who is gonna try n puppet you, make you run meta perks and not have fun at all.

Idk it's just bad in this game. OP is right, like the social sphere of this game has gone to the ######### dogs.

  • #########, it's not back yet?

God, I could have DC'd from like three games today....

  • I think the fact that it can be undone makes it less of an issue. Like, I search for totems every game bc Bloodpoints, and most times I feel like I find it... Or I find Haunted Ground and cry myself to sleep that night.

  • Honestly? It depends on the lobby.

Some killers I just don't want to play against. I didn't go into a lobby so I can be camped by a Billy or Leatherface, or hooked and then watch a Ghost Face t-bag like gettin me first is the highlight of his life and now he tryna get friction burn on his balls.

I'll also yeet if I'm against a doc who just spam-shocks over and over and over again. I'm not here for that game. I don't wanna do it, I don't wanna watch it be done, and I don't care who is upset by it.

Heck sometimes I'll be on the hook and I'll see two survivors hiding and one missing bc they in a closet and know we're not getting gens done in this game and see myself out.
