  • People will flame you for any reason they can come up with in this game. Granted, your playstyle doesn't sound like the best, but eh.

I got flamed for doing totems for the rift even though I finished two gens on my own before going on to totem-hunt for my task and had both the survivors AND the killer flame me at the end saying I was "useless" like I'm sorry 3 other people couldn't finish a single gen, I should have done all five myself. Even the end screen showed I did more points-wise, but people really be dumb in this game.

and by doing exactly that, you literally gift them the 4k.

if you wanna do that, go for it. but then dont come here and complain about campers (not saying you would, but there are a LOT of anti camping threats out there).

and dont expect your team (you know, the guys you abandoned and doomed with your decision) to be kind and understanding. you would probaply be the one they come here on the forum to complain about then.

for me, players that do exactly that are the reason why playing solo survivor is a pain in the ace.

i have lost so many games, because someone couldnt afford to just sit on the hook for TWO MINUTES, i have come to the point where i literally report players for immediately suiciding on a hook, cause its that unfun to have and it gives you such an unfair disadvantage from the getgo - it has ruined too many of my games at this point.

there is a reason why DC penalities were introduced - and honestly, i feel like hook suicide penalities should become a thing aswell.

Nobody wants to wait the sometimes 10-15 min to be facecamped, though, and it's more unreasonable to expect survivors to sit around and do nothing or get a penalty for not just tap-tap-taping their keyboard than it is to want for the killers to get a harsher penalty for camping. One person in this situation can play the game and the other can't.

You can't fault someone who wants to do the same objectives that YOU want to do in a game for not wanting to stay in a lobby where they not only are not going to be able to do any of those things, but will also de-pip for it, lose their items and add-ons, etc. Nobody is forcing the killer to camp, but the killer is forcing the survivor to be camped. Reporting them for that just seems like you're punishing the wrong person and also abusing the report system.

  • Thing is, even if you do gens,

    Camping still sucks.

I went five in a row being camped. How am I supposed to communicate with other survivors, as a solo player, NOT to come to me and just do gens???

Like everyone goes "JUst do gens hurr durr" n you know that, and I know that, but the bulk of the playerbase does NOT know that, and it ######### up this game for the lot of us that killers just camp you and get rewarded for it.

Literally saw a rank 1 billy the other day who just hooks then stands just far enough to ######### up kindred and then charges the first person to unhook.

Trying to buy your teammates time seems to just get them killed, and killing yourself off the bat just means another person gets camped after you. One way or another, the camper has ######### the game for anywhere from 1-4 other people.

I just feel like there has to be a harsher penalty for this behavior.

  • Honestly, survivors are kind of the worst.

I say this as a survivor main, myself, and I won't touch killer because of them. I at least try to be a nice one, personally. I know the rep red-ranks have and I push back against being a "toxic red rank", yknow? At the end of the day, all you can be is the change you wanna see in the world. I also try n call out other survivors if I feel like they bein mean.

  • @rha said:

Next tome and rift will come with the mid-chapter patch later this month, maybe a day or two after the patch.

The PTB for the mid-chapter patch opened last Tuesday, and the devs usually aim to push the patch live three weeks later, so most of the community will expect the patch to be released on the 28th. If there are still release-critical bugs that need to be ironed out then it may take a few days longer and in this case the next tome/rift would start later as well.

    Thank you so much!

  • I don't like t-bagging, but am I raging? No, not really. I just think "Oh, they're a jerk." and personally I don't do that sort of thing as a survivor because I find it distasteful and unsportsmanlike. I think it is better to be a gracious winner.

In general, I will wait by the gates only if I feel another survivor may need assistance, but if we're all present in the gate? I'm not staying for teammates to try and tilt another player.

That's a human being who is just trying to play this game for fun like you are.

I find the "Come on" gestures very cute from survivors, though. I think those are sweet.

  • I can't say I've ever been upset I've been left while camped. At least, not at my teammates. I'll try n buy em some time, draw out the whole struggle.

I think I only ever get irritated if they lemme go into struggle while I'm not being camped bc none of em can be bothered to assist. Like, if you're right there, and the killer is chasing someone else, and I'm on the hook and their gen isn't even close to being done but they'll lemme go into struggle bc they wanna finish the entirety of it all by themselves instead of just unhooking me so we can finish it faster together? That is annoying.

Still not upset or mad, though, just a little irked.

Oh gosh, I think I did

    What.... I am scared to ask... I don't see it ;w;

  • Idk, I will camp someone for spam flashlight blinding me and t-bagging.

I think beyond that, I don't do it unless someone is being toxic someway somehow.

Which being toxic does not equal "trying to win the game". Personally, body-blocking, especially if it's for someone on second/last hook, while annoying at times doesn't seem like a toxic thing to me unless they tbag or do something AFTER having body-blocked.

If they just run off, I really don't see the issue.

At least for me, personally, I don't consider it justified.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

LOL newest survivor gripe: NO MORE SKILLCHECKS AFTER A HOOK

  • Tbh this whole "If U cAn'T HanDlE pEOpLe TrEaTiNg YoU lIkE CRAp AlL THe TiiIiiiIiIME U ShoUlD nEVER PlAy WITh PEoplE" mentality is what makes gaming spheres so toxic--

Because you have a-hole A being an a-hole and then a-hole B shrugging like "I just take abuse or give it back. :^)" and then A thrives and B thinks it's the norm when it really shouldn't be.

If any of the all-time toxic games had anything in place to stop this kind of behavior then

    1. The overall experience of games would be better
    2. You wouldn't have so many of these already struggling young gamers ending up more depressed than ever because their options are being ######### on or isolation
    3. You'd have an actual community formed around the game instead of, frankly, forums that consist mainly of posts about how awful this game is to play
    4. Oh, and people would actually think gaming or games in general weren't exclusively for kids or adults that are mainly losers or somehow have made gaming into a job.

Because, whatever broken mechanics there are, be it keys, maps, mori's, certain perks, certain killers, nobody REALLY cares until you get stomped and then after have to endure either four people shitting on you or one person who abused a mechanic being snotty about it.

  • @gibblywibblywoo said:

Because pyramid head going straight to the cage that was unaffected by surv perks had less counterplay than camping aleady has amd makes for boring gameplay. If you play this way you might aswell just watch paint dry for all the entertainemnt people are getting out of it

Was that happening so frequently, though?

Idk, I play PH and I can't say I even get near the cages. The whole point of em is to ship a survivor off n focus on your current area instead.

  • @NullEXE said:

It's true, the biggest problem in DBD right now is the excessive amount of toxicity from entitled survivors that look at this game as a Bully Simulator instead of a Horror game.

Honestly? This. Especially with newer killers being put against red-rank survivors.

I am rank 16 as killer, and I keep getting red-ranks in the game and they are literally the worst. They see themselves having red-rank as being an indicator of them being a God-like survivor when the reality is, it's pitifully easy to get red-rank as a survivor. I literally only lose red-rank when I play with friends, and I have only been playing for a few months. That whole "I'm the GOD of survivors, I DUNK on these KILLErS I Am sO GoOD AT ThjiS GamE" mentality that seems to come with red ranks also seems to fuel their wanting to shamelessly bully killers.

Anytime I have more than 1 person spam blinding me in a match, I know it's a red rank and their friends, and without fail it always is.

I literally had one that was a girl on Twitch laughing about how she "feels bad for killers" her and her group bully after her and her stack spent all game blinding me and tbagging even when I gave up and stood still--3 red ranks who, btw, were q'd with a rank 19 literally TRYING to get high-rank killers to bully. The Twitch chat was all "UwU Red ranked QUEEN, you ######### them KILLerS UP! BAaBe" like she didn't get red rank by abusing matchmaking.

  • @TheOhioHutcH said:

I wouldn't take it so seriously just got to learn and get better that's all

It's not as simple as that, though. Everybody is trying to learn and get better, but being placed in unbalanced matches where I am going up against people with literally (and I looked) 600+ more hours than I do in the game just so I can get stomped by them doesn't create a space that enables learning.

Typically when you are new to a game/class in a game, you start out with people in the same level group as yourself BECAUSE you still don't have a grasp on mechanics and strategy and you're all learning together. If you're tossed immediately into games with people who have been playing since release, know all the best strats and mechanics, and broken spots like the one with the tractor where they all just loooove to stand and tbag, you're not getting as much out of that match.

It's like tossing a man who has no experience in any form of martial arts into the ring with a top MMA fighter and saying "You'll grow from this. Just go in wanting to learn. :)" when he should have just been in a class first.

You probably don't get swat SWFs as much as you think.

It's called confirmation bias, look it up.

Idk if they are SWFs, but I am def getting at least 1 or 2 red ranks in my matches most games. Idk who is and isn't SWFs unless it's a situation like this chick streaming and I can literally see with my own two eyes her entire group--which was as in my original post.

And having red-ranks in at least every other game as a newbie killer just ain't right, and there's no conformation bias to be had when I can literally see their ranks after matches.

If no one was having fun, no one would be playing the game.

Killers still play because the matches where survivors aren't SWAT troll groups are not every match; Killers play the game because of the games where it doesn't feel like the survivors are out to troll them, but out to play the game and survive. This can be said vise-versa, where SWAT teams are replaced with extremely toxic killer mains that do nothing every match except mori and camp.

This will be gone once MMR sets in, but it was nice knowing everyone

Ok but where are those matches for killer tho? Like literally I have way more of this type of interaction than I do actual, balanced games. There's always at the very least one or two red ranks in my games trolling me all goddamn game and it's ruining it.

Literally I ain't even mad when I have toxic killers as a survivor anymore is how bad this has been. I am out here with my girlfriend like "Yeah, no, babe, I know you're upset he smacked you on the hook but yknow? It's tough."

    It's so ######### #########.

  • I'm just bumping this because I feel like it needs to be said again, but matchmaking is ######### AWFUL in this game.

    unknown.png

A ######### just wants to ######### play, and I am waiting 20 minutes to get dunked on by SFW red ranks and their 1 high rank Q crutch.

  • I think it's more of a human condition thing, fam.

People, as a whole, tend to remain silent about things they like because saying "I like that" isn't something that is commonly instilled in them as opposed to being told to speak up when something is bothering you.

It's not personal, it's not this game that does it, it's societal thing.

  • Yeah, I saw a teleporting bubba last night, too.

Me n the others just reported him. That's all you can do.

  • @luvcraft said:

I suspect it's a vicious circle; there aren't enough high-rank killers to match with high-rank survivors, so low-rank and medium-rank killers get matched with high-rank survivors and get steamrolled and depip, and then the average rank of killers is even lower, making the disparity even worse.

I honestly think that the root cause is SWF. Even when I was a low-rank killer playing against high-rank survivors, if they weren't SWF I could usually do well, and sometimes even 4k. But a good SWF team is unbeatable regardless of their rank.

I used to think that the problem was just with the matchmaking, but the more I play and the more I do well against non-SWF high-rank teams and terrible against SWF teams regardless of rank, the more I realize that SWF with voice chat is the real problem, because the game balance is designed around the survivors having limited information about what each other are doing, and if the survivors have perfect knowledge of what each other are doing and can coordinate their efforts, the balance completely breaks.

Idk, I def feel like matchmaking is the main issue, though. I literally only play Killer to do rift tasks and it's pure misery.

All I get are red ranks, and I'm rank 16 (which took absolute hell to get to). I had two rank 1's, a rank 4 and a rank 6 in a match, and that seems to be all I get. Two red ranks at the very least every game. That just shouldn't be a thing that happens in general if matchmaking had any kind of control at all.

  • Oh is it because of the connection issues they've temporarily turned off DC penalties?

Trust me, after 4 years you get used to it. Plus, it's not nearly as bad as it used to be. Don't know if you were around at the time, but the killer used to be able to literally block the action for unhooking. Good times.

But no, please add more complaints about, surely it will change everything in another 4 years.

See, here's the thing, though. That change likely happened due to feedback.

I HAVE only been playing a few months, so yknow, I am def not well-versed in how bad it used to be, but I have heard the tales from friends who admit they stopped playing the game because of the way it was, and have been considering reinstalling only because I have started playing it and Pyramid Head is now present.

But again, if I want to add complaints, this is a forum, and I am free to do so, and if you have an issue with complaints, why even read or bump such threads up with your replies?

ALSO, I would not be complaining if it hadn't happened consistently throughout a gaming session. If it were once or twice, whatever, but four times? Yeah, I'm complaining. That's ten minutes to get into those games so forty minutes wasted.

  • @Swiftblade131 said:

Well then there's your problem. You can't be boosted then complain about being stomped. Git gud, THEN you can complain.

Sir being stomped requires being able to play the game and lose, not being hooked once and then staring deeply into the killer's eyes while you die.

I lose games, sure, and that's fine.

But camping isn't a strat, it doesn't require skill, and even most 20-17 rank killers won't knowingly stoop that low. So, no, I didn't get "Stomped" and that's not why I'm complaining.

Idk why it is giving me trouble when I try to post replies but third time is the charm

I have not been playing for much longer than three months on and off and

    A. I am extremely boosted, somehow. Idk how it happened, but it's the case.

    B. I haven't seen it done before today, and I hadn't seen that perk used by anybody other than Myers before today.

These killer stereotypes aren't something you kick off just knowing.

What the Devs should do is make it so gens repair speed is increased while a killer is within 5 to 10 feet of the survivor and increase blood points by 2 times while repair gens. This would stop face camping.

This also fixes the complaint of Killers, who are camping because of overly altruistic teammates sitting in view of the hooked survivor and killer trying to make unsafe saves.

I don't get what it is with the second part.

Not that I do it or anything, and I didn't notice it being done when I was camped, but why is it an issue if survivors are in view and making unsafe saves? Doesn't that make it easier on the killer to get them? I am just asking because I saw a thread the other day complaining about that, and I don't understand it. At least, it never bothered me when I played killer.

And SWFs bullying killers ruins the experience for the killer. Get off your high horse and just fkin deal with it.

Nobody is saying KIllers never have had anything bad happen to them ever, and YEAH, SWFs being bullies sucks. I have played killer and have had SWF groups flashlight spam and tbag and get in the way of hooks and it sucks.

That doesn't mean people in solo-q are supposed to just eat ######### and not complain about a broken mechanic bc toxic SFW groups exist.

Sounds like you just combined two killers into one here. (Billy can't hit two people, and Bubba can't fly across the map!)

That aside...yup, get 3 people out. If people keep doing that, then campers won't have a reason to keep doing it. As it is, people reward campers like crazy by just handing them the game, so of course they keep doing it and just laughing their heads off.

You right, I did. I am irked, is what it is.

Idk, I don't like watching another survivor being camped because I don't like when I'm the one being camped and I guess I should stop trying, but it irritates me to see and I feel like it's an abuse of system mechanics and a waste of everybody involved's time.

  • @Bovinity said:

Like I said, you can complain all you want, and call the killer whatever names you want.

Doesn't change the fact that the only people with a responsibility to deal with that strategy is you and your team. If none of you do, then that's on you.

How is it supposed to be countered? He revs chainsaw and you AND the person you're trying to help are one-hit-downed. AND one was running insidious so I couldn't even see him camping.

I don't see where the counterplay is. One way or another it's going to be 3-2 survivors escaping while the rest were camped. You can't do anything once you're hooked so you're forced to suicide or watch until you die. That's not a whole lot of counterplay afforded when all the killer has to do is hook you after yeeting across the map with chainsaw and chasing you down and then stand in place staring at you.

What am I just supposed to never get hooked ever? How is that realistic?

  • @Bovinity said:

That's the price of getting caught first, then.

You can complain until the cows come home that you didn't like your opponents strategy, or that it wasn't fun, or that you don't approve of it. However, it's not incumbent on your opponent to heed any of those complaints, nor is it the responsibility of the developers to police player strategies.

The only people with a responsibility to deal with the opposing strategy is you and your team.

I wasn't even caught first in two of the matches. They camped EVERY person they caught.

Call it "strategy", but it's scummy to not let anybody enjoy the game because it doesn't punish people ranking up in that method, and solo-q means that if you're camped nobody comes for you or really cares at all.

  • @hahadrillgobrrr said:

I lost today to a 4man SWF swat team and I depipped. I want SWF to be bannable offense.

  • @Bovinity said:

Yeah. Ok. I can see that.

I would also like my opponents in StarCraft last night banned for cannon rushing me.

I don't care about losing, I care about being able to play the game.

If I get camped first hook until I die, I spend that entire duration unable to do anything at all.

It's literally from first hook through struggle time wasted after waiting to get into a match. It's not fun, it's not simply "Awww, I lost sadface" it's a waste of the time spent waiting for that match AND the time spent going through to struggle then death.

Not saying I agree with this mentality, because I certainly try to go for a 4k every time I play killer but yknow I've not played much killer BUT

I think it has to do with greed, which is seen as like a childish trait? Like somehow when you let one go as opposed to a 4k, it reads as "That dude's a nice one." but then if you get em all, it's like "OH, you JUST GoOOOoOT to have em, eh?? It wouldn't have killed you to spare one!" n people get mad.

    That's just my theory, though.

  • See, I don't feel like this turn is the norm in most gaming spheres, and it's a crying shame.

I dunno, I feel like I see the opposite happen where people who were never toxic and never seemed to care turn toxic over time.

I'm glad you're getting a better outlook, though, and I hope it sticks! <3

  • Def would be grabbing a person off the door when they'd been using the spot on the hay bale near the tractor to tbag and taunt me bc they know killers can't hit them there, n then watching them raaaaaage in match chat after and being able to rub it in their face. AND they had the crown sparklies so yknow, you gonna be toxic? No crown for you. This is a Miss Congeniality crown in MY games. πŸ’… ο»ΏπŸ’…πŸ’…

  • Idk, I have def had some very toxic killers, but tbh I found more nice killers playing survivor than I found nice survivors playing killer.

Like, in the short timespan I played killer for the sole purpose of getting crowns, as a survivor main, I had the worst possible experience with the survivors and ngl? I ain't even mad at killers anymore. Honestly? I let people with the crown sparkles go IF they didn't t-bag and spam blind me for hooking one of them. (Literally had a SFW group just surround me with flashlights once and tbag and flash at me the whole time.) I have six killers total, I only need the crown for huntress left, and of the 8 games I played cycling through them (I just can't seem to find the pedestal as huntress) survivors made it so miserable, I made a rant thread about matchmaking in feedback. I ended up only letting two go in 8 games because they were, for the most part, awful, and they'd rage in chat after.

ESPECIALLY low-rank survivors. They are SUCH toxic trash.
