I'm actually using it at rank 1.

    So far so good.

There is no way. What is your build?

    No Mither
    Resilience
    This Isn't Happening
    Sprint Burst

With this build you are very efficient at repairing gens. You can completely bypass Ruin with bigger great skill checks.

Sprint Burst is your emergency escape.

All in all, just remember to be careful. If you can stay hidden, then you can really pump out those gens. Just don't be surprised if the killer camps you for it xD.

  • I'm actually using it at rank 1.

    So far so good.

  • Huntress and Myers are the worst campers in the game.

Clown is quite bad too but at least you don't see him that much.

  • Feel free to advocate for survivor nerfs so that killers don't have a reason to camp.

Also, Borrowed Time is your friend.

  • Huntress doesn't need any buffs.

  • I seemed to have found a pretty cool perk build involving No Mither. You'll need Sprint Burst tho. That said, Dead Hard can be a place holder in the mean time.

    The Build:
    No Mither
    Resilience
    This Isn't Happening
    Sprint Burst (Or Dead Hard)

With this setup, you'll be very efficient at repairing gens. Just remember to play carefully so you don't die easily.

The kindred buff will be a huge thing.
Solo survivors will be almost as coordinated as SWF teams. Gen rushes will be more common and SWF will be even more powerful.

Devs probably do this to balance the game and nerf survivors hard after that patch.
But they need to be quick. Otherwise there won't be much left of a killer community.

    That's my biggest concern.

Imagine how miserable killer will be waiting for the devs to balance out the kindred change.

  • I'm not sure, some of these these ideas seem a bit extreme.

  • You have to be able to stealth.

I know it's hard because survivors are conditioned to loop but it's the only way.

Every once in a blue moon, I'll come across a survivor that can stealth. Said survivor is usually pretty hard to catch.

That said, devs are going to have to add more stealth and juke mechanics (not just for nurse but killers in general).

  • If it's a licensed killer, then probably trash.

Devs don't have a great track record with licensed killers.

  • This is somewhat how I see it:

0 kills - You got totally stomped

1 kill - You performed poorly

    2 kills - Tie

3 kills - You did well, a clear victory

4 kills - You completely demolished those survivors.

I'm still unsure, but I think the sweet spot should be between 2 and 3 kills.

  • Honestly, I usually forget the people who have crossed me.

If I remember them, then yeah, I'll probably dodge. They just aren't worth playing with.

  • I think the biggest thing is learning the maps and knowing the correct time to throw bottles.

You need to predict where survivors are trying to flee and cut off that escape route.

Do that, and survivors will be forced in a unfavorable situation.

  • I don't think having a little stress is a bad thing.

If you really need something to help you relax, guard the basement with Leatherface (using insidious).
You'll most likely lose but at least you'll get some funny memes out of it.

  • Honestly, this game is a mess on console.

Do you have any plans to start using perks that are actually useful?

And, is that console or are you just using a controller?

I play the game on Xbox. And my build is very useful. Case and point > http://xboxclips.com/thesuicidefox/46d027be-a193-4259-9c26-b43c4d8c5744

That was the 4th time I did this to this killer, it should have been 3 but he left me slugged one time and I got up. He was camping hooks super hard, so I did this to him. He got me, but I play to die so what (still pipped), but because of this everyone else got out. I was tapping gens around the map and 2 popped about 40 seconds after I died here and then they escaped. I can make those saves that are impossible and force the killer to take my hook because he can't slug me like a normal survivor. He has to hook me, and when I don't struggle he takes me far away for BBQ/event hook, my team finishes gens and leaves.

Dude, I didn't know you played on Xbox.

PC is an entirely different beast. I should know, I have 1000 hours on console.

And I'm telling you, things are different. This build of yours won't hold up on PC. The killers are much better.

Not trying to be mean or anything, that's just my observation. No Mither is not a very good perk on PC.

  • He's not the greatest, no.

My biggest gripe with him is how easy it is to disarm traps. All it takes is one survivor to come behind you and disarm everything you put down. Really sucks.

Maybe if Trapper didn't waste so much time setting up everything, he wouldn't be so bad.

  • Do you have any plans to start using perks that are actually useful?

And, is that console or are you just using a controller?

  • I always get skill checks when I don't want them xD

For me, it's worse getting a skill check right as you're trying to leave the gen.

  • You need to be careful.

I believe this counts as name shaming. Something that is usually prohibited on forums.

Well I am glad someone is willing to endure the increased coordination. As a person who periodically plays every killer except Nurse this coordination combined with tougher pallets makes me less than inclined to play killer.

    I main Nurse.

Even I am a little worried over this change. All killers can be gen rushed.

I've said it once and I'll say it again.

Start tacking on a -75% blood point penalty on all future games. Meaning, every time you finish a match you'll only get 25% of what you would have earned.

This penalty will persist until the player shows they can stay for an entire game. Usually by completing a certain number of matches without leaving.

For someone who has unlocked everything he needs already, a BP punishment is completely pointles.
Take me for example. I have all perks unlocked and a survivor P3, I play without items usually, so I dont need to spend a penny when playing survivor.

Your kind of DC penatly wouldnt hurt me at all when I paly survivor. In fact such a penatly could be easily exploited by starting a few games and instantly suiciding to get rid of the BP penatly (if you care about BP)

There is a reason why every game uses a queue time penatly for DCing, it literally is the best and easiest way to tackle this problem

You mean you don't spend blood points anymore?

Because I would think blood points are always useful.

That said, you have a point. People with thousands of hours could probably rely on their reserves to keep them going while the penalty is in effect.

Perhaps adding a time penalty in addition to the blood point penalty is the best course.

A time penalty by itself could work too. Just not sure how you would implement it. I can't recall playing any games that used time penalties (at least that I can remember).

I only spend BP for killers. If I were a survivor main player, exclusivly playing survivor. I wouldnt need any BP at all. But on the other hand, if I would only play survivor I would probably want those juicy insta heals etc^^

Just to name a few popular games using time penatlies for DCing:
    leauge of legends, dota
CSGO, rainbow six or rocket leauge

Yep, haven't played those games xD

Well, I played a little CS GO.

The blood point penalty idea came from Overwatch. I got the penalty one time and I remember what an impact it had on me.

  • I can accept the change.

That said, the devs need to address other problems first. Namely, put an end to these strong loops survivors have.

If the devs just push this Kindred change through, killer will be in a difficult position. Because survivors will have the coordination they need to steam roll a lot of the killers.

  • Wow.

Yeah, I would think BHVR has this guy blacklisted.

After all, he's a known menace.

  • Just get rid of the perk all together and come up with something sensible.

  • The poor game balance is to blame.

Although, this Doc is probably having a bad day or is just bad.

  • I hope you're joking.

  • Getting banned from the Steam forums means you can't upload screenshots.... really?

    Hmmm.

  • The devs need to nerf looping before they give survivors their big buff.

  • Nah, Huntress is better.

Huntress is quite scary when played properly.

Besides, you can actually snipe people if you're good enough.

  • Flashlights are hella annoying tho.

One of the reasons I punish flashlight users so hard with my Nurse.

I really don't like what flashlights have turned into (a bully instrument).

  • Laurie is the best survivor.

  • Body blocking is fine. It's one of the few times I'm okay with a survivor escaping.

  • Survivors are generally upset over their own failure.

  • Very strange that you would sell your PC and move to console. Not a wise decision in my view.

That said, your critique of the console version is absolutely correct. DBD is positively abhorrent on console. And I should know, I have 1000 hours on console. I later moved to PC.

I don't want to be rude, but the devs really should be ashamed of themselves considering how bad the game is on console.

  • I'm a dirty Nurse main.

I immediately start having regrets whenever I play a killer that isn't Nurse.

On a serious note though, your discussion is very well written. Yes, Freddy has some balance issues.

But to be frank, killers as a whole have balance issues. If this game had less looping and more juking, things would be much better off.

  • No thanks. I don't like that perk. I don't think survivors like it either.

But as Tsulan said, it's not very good verse competent survivors. They'll just get the gens done.

Sure, if the survivors are meatballs, then it can be impactful. Otherwise, it's just an obnoxious perk.

  • What did you expect from a bully simulator?

  • Survivors still run the show unfortunately.

But yeah, the devs are slowly shifting the balance to where it should be.

As for the killers you like (Pig and Myers), they're mid tier killers. Meaning, you can be successful with them, but you will struggle against competent survivors.

Typically, if you want consistent success, you'll need to learn one of the top tier killers. Namely: Nurse, Billy, Hag, and Huntress.

    Those killers get results.

If rank doesn't matter to you, then just play whoever you want.

  • Blame the poor game balance.

Most of the serious players already know this.

Survivors are still in a overly powerful position.

There's currently a big debate among people who want the game to be more competitive, verse people who want the game to remain casual.

A game can be competitive and still appeal to casuals. See: CS: Go or Overwatch.

You think the devs are smart or willing enough for that?

    That's quite the stretch.

All I know is this game still has a long way to go.

  • It has been ages since my console days.

But yeah, I would say Billy and Hag are at the top.

Controller is just unsuited to play Nurse and Huntress effectively.

  • Not only that, but his traps need to hold survivors for a minimum duration.

I swear survivors get out of their traps so fast.

  • It's a step in the right direction.

Some people have suggested hiding a key on the map.

Honestly, the hatch is a really complicated issue. It seems unclear how to balance it properly.

  • Devs are already thinking of making Kindred default for all survivors.
