And at no time have I said that you are lying.
From the way you've gotten defensive, I'm beginning to think that in your case it's just poor aim.
My aim ain't the best, not denying that, but, naw, it's just getting frustrating. As said, the shot/vomit 'hits' the animation plays, the sound plays but the survivor just runs unaffacted. And as said, there have been survivors pointing it out in endgame chat. And, funny, how you say 'it's just bad aim' when other people are describing having the same thing happen. When SURVIVORS are saying they noticed that they got hit yet not

It has never happened to me to hit someone, it sounds like I have hit someone but not really.
And I play a lot with Deathslinger and the Huntress quite a bit.
Great that it isn't happening to you but as there are others who experienced the same, I don't think you're experience is the universal one

Although the hitboxes aren't the best thing about this game, I think that your connection is what matters the most.
connection is fine, ping is at 30ms max. AND I had people point it out in the postgame chat that they wondered about the hits not registering while the animation played. so. no. it's on the game's end.

If you get that many bloodpoints the killer still did alot of other stuff besides slugging. Do the math, you cant get that many bloodpoints just by slugging.
I don't know if you are familiar with grammar, but the phrasing of 'through slugging, tunneling AND camping' implies that, indeed, you need to do a bit 'more' but nothing that would be actual skill.
-
@CoalTower said:
Slugging is fine. If they got that many BPS everyone got a chance to play.
Nope.
I don't remember who tested it, but you CAN through slugging, tunneling and camping have a game end with less the 5000 for the survs and a near perfect game for the killer.
So, no.

it was hidden in some behindthescenes vid or dev stream iirc.
but blight is also the reason why some people muse that at some point we WILL get a chapter with (some of) the killers as survivors

Blight IS based off jekyll & hyde. By all means, blight running into things having the serum splatter is Talbot trying to take control again.

Given Tru3's borderline obession with 12-hooking and being right about the pip system, I don't really think it was him.
Really trying to remember who did it, though. Cause seriously, if you can get the game to 'think' you did perfectly by playing like that... either system, the ranks and the mmr one are pointless

Actually, you've almost hit the nail in the head there, because in actual fact the only real counterplay to slugging is perks. However, leaving one or two people on the ground in the middle of a snowball isn't what people are complaining about, it's the genuinely excessive stuff. Bleed-outs, solo-bullying perks, etc.
Didn't.... was it Tru3 or Pug?... once test out how many points/pips you can get as killer by slugging at the start, hooking and camping two, getting chase- and genkickpoints from the others (cause one of them will very likely have UB) then slugging one of them again, getting more chasepoints before hooking and camping both? and the result was merciless killer with almost a perfect match?

Why did you post this exactly if this is not a thing for the community to answer? There are places for things like this not that you'll get an answer you want but there is no point to having it here y'know its just a waste of space no offence.
in the sense of 'I don't want to know what the community thinks bout tunneling etc, I want to know if the devs have yet named an occasion'

As with tunneling and camping, some people take it to excess and that's what people complain about.
Yeah.
Alright, I should add that, yes, there is a lot of anger in the initial post. Because over the last two days alone I have run into so many <100 hour gameplay high ranks with no indicator that they played on console before, who ALL without any exception been tunneling and camping from the get go, and at least half (!) of them slugged before the first gen popped.
That's how they got to high ranks.
-
It's rare enough devs dare to touch any side's iWin buttons, so... no
-
Those people have their one (1) modus operandi and will throw a tantrum whenever a killer does something that meddles with it.
I'd not be surprised if you could easily find the people making these videos state elsewhere that bubba is 'fine and fun to go against', all because... surprise, he can be engaged in a chase.
It's those people that will demand to give Deathslinger the same wind-up as huntress, demo etc, completely ignoring that if you do THAT you'll have to enable his shots to injure/down directly, not only when the chain breaks, which would actually make him unfun.

I am sorry, I expressed myself poorly. What I am trying to say is revert the damn Realm Beyond, something which destroyed everything we loved without addressing actual issues.
Am I correct in assuming that you never had a problem with the map's old version?
Ahh.
And no, the old map was fine. And like, structurewise the new one is decent, but it's really that solar-eclipse like lighting that makes it a pain
-
Mate, I dunno what you are trying to say, if you are snarky or anything, but I and everyone I know who plays on low and medium can literally NOT play on those maps because you might as well turn off your screen

Hwat they play doesn't matter. The most entitled side is the onslaught of players that throw a tantrum whenever an element is added/changed that takes away their perceived iWin button and forces them to... y'know actually think when playing

kindred.
while no surefire way, it has saved my teammates (if they knew how to use it and didn't just run in to get back to genrushing) often enough.
know where hag is, crouch into the basement crouch out. also a lot of people don't know you can crouch directly after getting unhooked.
-
What people said: There might be brief use of it cause of the novelty, but... there are so many perks out there that are genuinely helpful, whether you are in a swf or solo, and still people don't use them becaise they are so dead-set on their second-chance perks.
-
Also, Billy is a Leatherface proxy. And with the money-making iWin button that is Bubba, why care for Billy? The devs truly are Billy's parents here...
-
The mechanics to have the game not just counter tunneling, camping and slugging are ALL there. But by all means, it'd would piss off paying customers, especially some big name streamers if they were implemented, so we get statements like 'its a fair and legit tactic', 'it's sometimes necessary' or 'we tested and it didn't work' instead...
(so far NO ONE has been able to name a situation in which any of that would be 'necessary' that isn't someone whining about their incapability to take a loss, left alone having any willingness to learn how to play well)
-
Proof?
Cause hell knows I have seen people lied 'bout they were tunneled cause of the charm to get the devs to remove it and any other lgbtq+ stuff
-
@Orion said:
No, it's not bannable, and it's not holding the game hostage.
Holding the game hostage means the game cannot end. Slugging has a time limit of 4 minutes. Nearly every instance of actually holding the game hostage can only be done by survivors.
if that is your view kindly explain why such utter ######### behavior should be (and IS) rewarded.

I'm not really familiar with Konami, what's so bad about them?
they have the reputation to really have their thumb on stuff they license and be very insistent on contract being met by the letter, with hefty fees if the license taker can't deliver. they might have gotten better, but yeah, that's the gist of it.

Flash Bang would activate instantly upon pressing the active ability button, and Inner Strength, you would need to wait out the timer to heal.
so, it'd be perfectly possible to cleanse a totem, do a gen, get in a locker to heal, get a flashbang, head on the killer and then blind them with the flashbang?

I think it's a bit of a reach to say theres nothing new to implement at this point. Where's a fire killer? Wheres a killer who enchants/charms/seduces survivors, like a siren? Wheres the killer that can disguise themselves with the environment/as another survivor? Or create a whole new mechanic like they did with stalking.
Theres a hundred ideas they can go with rather than [mid ranged range attack], but that's all we seem to get. Demo, Twins, PH, Deathslinger, Trickster, Nemesis essentially share the same power, just with different playstyles.
Except for the fire one I agree (and heck, those two would make for great powers for killer!dwight or killer!kate if we ever get roleswaps).
Personally I sometimes get the feeling the devs don't dare (don't wanna call it ignorance, cowardice or similar) to try something decently new, not even radically.
The mechanics that already are ingame would allow for a lot, but nothing of that seems to be put in. or at least there seems to be no plans to do so.

Playing a little devil's advocate here but at 25 killers in there's not much in terms of original ideas that can be well implemented. Look at how buggy and jank the twins released and still are or how mechanically difficult Blight is or how bugged the Nurse still is. In my opinion this chapter is more for the Survivors and the newcomers. @PixelBush put out a great video about it and I agree 100% with his sentiments. I think I'll have a little bit of fun with Nemesis, kinda like how I have a little fun with Pyramid Head, they're not gonna be mains for me ever but I'll enjoy playing them occasionally.
that video is exactly what ultimately prompted this thread (don't wanna use the 'camel's back' saying, as that doesn't really fit), and I'd like to highlight one statement from it:
That the chapter is great for new players.
And, honestly, this is why I hope that we WILL get more RE stuff (as the license might be expandable to other entries?) for more experienced players, that encourages doing 'more advanced' gameplay elements.
Coming back to using Lady D as example:
She could have a perk that builds up on mindgaming in chases, like having a fake image appear in a designated spot to trick survivors into running into her arms.
On survivors side we could get a perk that makes looping/dodgelooping easier (it's mechanically possible) or the potential chapter could introduce a new control that makes it easier
-
@Jarol said:
I was looking around and discovered that they want to continue with the implementation of AI in killers, if so, would you like to have it? What is your idea for an AI implementation in future killers or maybe survivors if it happens?
map elements like sharks if we get a sunken ship map, or generally summonable npcs for killers (inlcuding older ones)
-
Basically it's how people got to rank one because hell knows the ranking system and all is broken AF and one can only hope that the skill based matchmaking recognises camping, tunneling and slugging as lack of skill, because otherwise NOTHING will change... (except for maybe better killers on low ranks?)
-
@jakesotto said:
I'm not a fan of the recycled killers powers either. It seems like most killers released since demo has just been some version of plague/demo/huntress but "different" (not really). I want a killer that shakes up gameplay, like when they released Oni, people spent a while figuring out how to change their play styles against him. Recently killers are just static and lacking interactivity/decision making on both sides
The weird bit is 'recycling' powers is not bad in and on itself, if it's done interestingly.
An example. Imagine we WOULD have gotten Lady D and her daughters as killers.
She could have been a mixture of hag, plague and in some way freddy or demo like this:
Each daughter can be used to trap areas, gens, totems, vaults, etc, with each of them having a unique power: One vault significantly slow a survivor down (whether running or progression), one would hold survivors down and would have to be shaken off, and the last would directly injure healthy survivors (giving some short buff as balance). All three could double a teleportation points, that could be activated when a survivor triggers the trap.
So you'd have the choice between teleporting to whereever and dealing with the survivor yourself, or letting the daughter in question handle it.
There'd be more interactivity and tactic going into things on both sides, as survivors would now be faced with the question on not just if there's a trap, but which.
YMMV but that would have been one way to recycle powers while still making them interesting I'd say.
-
I'd say it's two-fold:
- the weird rank-reset hiccup
- people in general 'getting better' as actually more people drop their 'do gens and loop' approach and start doing more stealth when needed etc.
-
An explanation would be that they at some point manage to escape the Fog, returning to where they came from only fractions of a second after they were taken.
Cause if we know anything 'bout the Fog then it's that it doesn't follow the same rules of time and space as the real world. Sometimes people go missing for weeks, sure (see Jake or Claudette), but it doesn't mean returning a microsecond after being taken is impossible.

Sometimes they can work, such as camping the best survivor against overly altruistic survivors. Ofc, the strategy only works against stupid survivors. Tunneling? Do gens since the killer isn't going to chase you anyway. Camping? Do gens since the killer isn't going to chase you anyway. These strats only work against **stupid** survivors. Which is a lot of games when playing solo/duo queue.
They are legitimate strategies but they almost never work against an experienced team. Unfortunately, that's a lot of people.
They are only strategies if you don't trust in your characters abilities.
Cause, lbr: there is something to be admired about players that can get their 3-4k without being sweaty and without using meta perks against experienced/ equal skill players. The fact these people exist shows that... it can work
-
blast mine seems to be something that should rather be used when the killer is coming your way and you'll know there'll be a chase.

Ok so to be a devils advocate here, I'm a red rank killer. I never really purposely camp early or just to ruin a game. I'm probably the fairest killer there is and NEVER go after rhe unhooked survivor no matter what unless there are 2 left of course. However, there have been times I've been able to force a 3 gen or survivors have messed up and made a 3 gen for themselves. So I down one and there's a nice hook dead center in the middle of these. Please tell me why would I go running across the map to chase anyone when my goals are right in this area. I'm not just standing still either. I'm I guess you would call I proxy camping. But again, why would expect a killer to go elsewhere? If I get hit with bt then fine, I'm not mad. I don't even end game camp. I try and guard the door if I can. These are the times the devs are saying are legit stats. And I admit any killer who camps and tunnels just to take a survivor out early and mess up their game us trash. But sometimes, as a killer we do have to stay around. Don't be that entitled survivor like 90% of killer are whiny cry babies.
The thing is, that is not camping, unless you purposefully forced exactly that 3gen in order to camp.
It's like with the difference between murder and manslaughter.
-
As pointed out: it's the totem furthest away that lights up, so it's better as a synergy perk WITH small game.

Just because you don't like it, does not mean they are bad, toxic, or the player is 'skilless'. That's just whining from Survivors who lost to it.
there isn't a single occasion where they'd be valid. or are you going to lose a vital organ if you don't win every match?

Camping and Tunneling should not be a 'thing to get used to'. they are never necessary, they are just ego-wanking from skillless braggarts and are only still there because it's fiddly to get the game mechanics to punish them directly.

Yeah, Jack would have made for a much better killer than Nemesis in my opinion, but it really would have been ideal if we got both of them.
the ideal thing would have been the trifecta of nemesis, baker and lady d. Nemesis is iconic, baker would have been a surprise and lady D is iconic in her own right. it would have worked, and each of them could have gotten their own map.
