To make Survivors happy. There's absolutely no logic behind it, so it has to be because the other side of the 4V1 equation yelled loud enough.

if that were actually the case they'd have done the same to bubba... and not the polar opposite.

  • It does make a lot of sense from a mechanical perspective, as others mentioned:

His traps stop the survivor, unlike Hag's or even Freddy's. The latter can be used to shorten a chase (teleporting to the survivor, respectively slowing them down etc), but they don't keep the survivor stationary.

As Trapper's traps do that it's just fair he can step into his own traps as otherwise they could be used to wall survivors in/create blockades in crucial spots. While it would be tactically interesting, it would not be fair. Imagine the uproar if trapper could just block every pallet/loop in the game without any worry that he can move around it just fine.

  • you know.... i really wonder where all the gen rushing survivors and camping/tunneling/slugging killers will end up once MMR goes active...

Just seeing her role in the game is enough to make out that she's not a new killer, she dies super early.Miranda would have better chances.

I'd argue that how quickly AND HOW she's beaten makes her a prime target for the Entity.

Miranda on the other hand... she's a plague who can shapeshift, I can rather see her as a special skin for plague

  • It's not a surprise.

There's a lot of spite and hate in the community. Some harsh words are justified, like when they say something that comes across as condescending or mocking towards the community.

but other times it's just obnoxious from the community's side. Just look how literally EVERY post they make on twitter (INCLUDING retweets of fanart) gets spammed with 'add this character NOW' 'remove/buff/nerf that character' etc. as if people have ZERO decency or reading comprehension.

I'd refrain from interacting with people as well when they are like this...

(And seriously: check the fanart/cosplay retweets how many responses are there unrelated to the pictures... like people! #########!)

    1. as if the entity hasn't meddled with killers sizes before. Look at the head proportions on some tall killers. Deathslinger for example was likely much smaller in life than the entity made him. So, the entity might adjust her ladyship to fit through the doorways.
    2. both re7 and 8 could actually build up on existing map pools: re7 on the swamp, re8 on the swamp and red forest.
  • On a more practical note: she and baker are the only out of the bunch who would work in dbd as they do have a bit more than... stalks and is really strong.

Mr X or Nemesis would just be... wraith without invisibility or trapper without traps.

No I'm telling you I'm not ######### stupid and 3 is better odds than 4.

Why would I purposely go for the stronger link in the chain? that's dumb

Why would I not kill someone ASAP?

because I trust in my skill to 'break the chain' even if i don't go for the weakest link. grow some actual confidence.

  • @Lord_Tony said:

It's not about skill it's about going against 3 survivors instead of 4.

Having 3 opponents creates an insane amount of pressure on survivors.

So again, why would I not go for the injured guy first?

so you admit you have no confidence in your skill to reduce the number from 4 to 3 without tunneling. duly noted.

  • Ask yourself the question:

Why do you trust so little in your skills with a killer that you go after a just unhooked injured survivor instead of the unhooker or anyone else?

  • If we remove bubba, spirit and freddy, sure.

  • midwich, like a lot of maps, is very much designed around the killer it came with. best approach is usually to stealth through the classrooms and know where the pathways aside from the stairs are. The only random things on the map are the totem spawnpoints and generators

It's the fact that he snickers whenever wounding survivors, and his speargun is such a cruel device (when he primarily used it to catch bounties, which were just part of a deal, not people who'd personally wronged him.) That said, going from that last bit of his lore, it's a little ambiguous whether he recognizes the survivors are just a bunch of random people or if he's been mindscrewed like Wraith, because there's an implication that he thinks he's punishing Bayshore/the warden/his bullies. If that's the case, then his sadism makes perfect sense.

I think given his eyes he does see survivors as those that wronged him.

As for the bit about bounties, in a roundabout way it is to get back at those that wronged him (bayshore) as the warden promised to have bayshore rot in prison if caleb makes him rich.

And that caleb used a harpoongun... This may sound absurd, but it's part of why i think he's autistic coded... like why go the easy way when you can get complicated and absurd? (And yes, minus the disembowlments etc i'm speaking from experience, i.e. why make this prob from cardboard or foam if I can just weld together solid brass :D (it was for a yugioh cosplay and damn it was a bad idea. but it looked amazing))

@Laluzi I wouldn't be too certain he gets satisfaction from causing pain per se, but from getting revenge on those who wronged him. That's how I read it.

  • Why can we see her naughties when she turns?

  • I think The 'Blood Moon' charm (like the new moon charm) is a reference to a discontinued offering that would affect the lighting on the maps (like making it brighter or darker)

edit: though it could be. Looking through other charms in the 'mementos of prominence' collection now

edit 2: okay, the only other charm in that collection so far is the 'exit gate' charm earlier on the rift, so probably it is more of a shoutout to stuff gone by (i think the mobile game has 'blood moon/blood hunt' events on a regular basis, maybe it's that

  • Can confirm now, it is INDEED Corrupt Purge, not Vile. Devs, please

  • Not a rework, I'd say, but dynamic map generation.

So that every killer can play up their strengths while survivors get better means for individual counterplay.

E.g. Killers with low mobility/pressure would get smaller and more condensed maps, with more hiding spots for survivors

Can't they word their challenges clearer? :(

  • trickster needs a complete rework from the ground up. right now his (ranged) power is only valid-ish on melee ....

  • Answer is simple:

    To feel seen.

Headcanons are fine and dandy, but they are just that.

Having canonically queer characters is a way of saying 'yep, you exists and kudos for that'

Like, people don't want a character that is a walking cliché or JUST queer. Look at what we got in terms of heterosexual character in the lore: David had a girlfriend mentioned in text, Felix's girlfriend is pregnant. And people don't ask for more than something like that.

For example declaring deathslinger bi by having a line like 'As vicious and merciless as he's with his enemies, as kind he was with his friends, and as compassionate with the men and women he found himself in bed with, whether or not the latter two overlapped'

    or something like that.

Just an... acknowledgement that one's valid.

  • We can just mark SWFs in the lobby. InGame Voicechat would just backfire.

No I didn't, it doesn't make sense to give a whole group of killers a Perk that destroys one of there main powers.

No, it doesn't. SpineChill does not e.g. expose ghostface or stop michael's stalking. All it does is 'hey, the killer is looking in your direction, so you'll get nervous and work faster but less concentrated'

It doesn't tell you WHERE a killer is, how close or anything. People still need to look around. and can STILL miss a stealth killer... heck, I've seen people with spinechill miss a 7' tall cowboy looming down on them

why do i think you don't play survivor on a regular basis

  • and an option to turn off which killer you get dailies for. like... yes, i did buy this killer, bhvr, FOR THE PERKS!

Dead Dawg Saloon have 1 quarter of the map where the killer will take more than 1min to chase and down 1 survivor (main building) + hang man gen who is also easy for survivor to do. Even completely open the main building is still strong. Other side of the street, like in front of killer shack/hang man, is also a decent place to run the killer. Being able to utilize all loop to their full potential and mind game the killer is key in this map. Oh and all exhaustion perk can be used in this map.

Dead Dawg is one of the maps that really shows it's made for its killer (and it's a shame so few people playing deathslinger make use of it on that map). Swamp is another example

  • Can we cut her hitbox in half and give one half to deathslinger?

You are just bad at reading probably. This whole thing reads "why did you over react and made it useless instead of actually putting some thought into it and coming up with a more sensible change if a change was needed?"

taken into account how many people (on surv side) rejoiced at the originally proposed change because it'd make them invisible for the duration, i think i read that fairly well

  • Alright, hold up.

why does this whole thing read like

'it's so bad that you altered a change that would have given survivors an unfair advantage just because people said it'd give survivors an unfair advantage'

y'know, I'd actually go much further and bar lucky break from being used together with iron will entirely

    • Make it so keys ONLY appear in chests and only after a certain requirement. Like, how the hatch only spawns when there's a certain survivor/gen ratio or something, have ti that keys onyl appear in unopened chests once so and so many gens are done. if no chests are left, no keys this round

That is exactly what happened to Freddy merely a week after his release, because people with less than 10 hours of gameplay were spamming negative reviews. Those players, who clearly shouldn't review a game which they've barely played, are to blame for his initial nerf, along with the devs obviously.

As for his rework, well... That is the actual disaster.

aye. and it's something that goes for other killers too. look how people DEMAND deathslinger gets the same windup as huntress, demo or PH, ignoring that those three have something that balance out missing, while deathslinger has nothing to make up for a missed shot with limited range.

Personally I think freddy would be more intersting to play and play against if they'd bring back the dream world restrictions, but give him something like plague's ability to get people to wall asleep. like, that you can trap gens etc and people would 'get tired' similar to plagues infection. plus give people an exhaustion thing in his matches to get them to fall asleep so people would have to manage what they are doing. running, concentrating etc would all drain it, more rapidly if you are 'drained'.

    something like that.

Would it make the matches longer? yeah, but more interesting too.

  • @GeneralV said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2160858#Comment_2160858

What was the point? Well, there wasn't one.

Old Freddy never required a full rework to begin with. It doesn't take much to understand that he only needed a few buffs and QoL improvements, yet the devs completely ruined his identity by giving him a generic power.

I still maintain that a lot of blame is at how the community gives feedback paired with how devs look at stats.

Like, a lot of loud parts of the community seem dreadfully focused on winning quickly with the bare minimum (on both sides), so of course the feedback there is... near useless. They are also the same people that will smack down better feedback if said suggestions would require doing a iota more than the bare minimum.

Pair that with how devs seem so focused on easily manipulated stats, and wow that's a recipe for disaster.

  • I think the best would be an in-between old and new.

A big issue with him in general is that a lot of survivors (at least those that do complain the loudest) are unwilling to change their playstyle to account for unique mechanics (see 'popping gens against pig' for more details).

New freddy has the issue that a lot of his counterplay is rather disadvantageous to survivors withou much to balance it, and the mixture of that and the above give him the high killrate.

  • @TheBus4K said:

The addon is still just as stupid for me. A good Huntress will continue to use this addon and will hit with just one hatchet. What they should have done is, like the Deathslinger's Addon Iri, they should add that you have to hit survivors at a certain distance in order to oneshot them.

Hope the OP can keep playing Huntress without this addon xd.

yeah, the issue with iri head isn't that you can have 3, the issue is that it can be used melee range. how did the devs miss that?

  • If you only use the voice commands or similar to do what mouse/keyboard or controller are doing, there shouldn't be much an issue.

  • By playing normally and fair (aka, no tunneling, camping or slugging). There's a lot of swfs that are just chaotic and marginally better organized than a group of randoms, if at all. And interestingly a lot of swfs that swf to win expect scummy behavior so playing fair even takes them offguard.

  • Some people have put down this kind of discussion before by saying 'but it will only get abused'. Which... by that logic we need to remove the current gestures AND crouching...

but as for what might help the game:

pointing gestures for killers (i thnk atm only deathslinger can 'point')

    stop gesture for survivors

unique headshakes for both sides (compared to the shaking your whole body)

Firstly you didn't read even half of my post .I telled there that i am not using this tactic or if i using it i do it rarely on killers that for example taunt you on the hook only becuse you looped him for few gens without doing anything that is consider "toxic" on this forum i wanna to let them taste their own medicine.Again by your logic if good killer is using tactic for example camping ,tunneling on not the best survivors they do not have skill .And no i dont tell anybody how they should play just type them ggwp and then leave unless the killer is shi talking so i can make fun of them .And firstly if you are blaming anyone for the lack of the balance maybe its time to look on yourself and then evaluate others. And if you want to ask no i aint survivor main i mostly play killer but i play survivors only in the days i want to chill off becuse i get so much stressed after playing the killer.

didn't i just today make a thread/post about how camping tunneling and slugging are not tactics but rather the equivalent of survivors dcing if they get hit before the first gen pops?

Alright, how about we all take a deep breath.

    Here's the thing:

If you play, regardless which side, and you think any unfair tactic is 'justified' because the game doesn't actively punish it, do some soulsearching, people. ask yourself why winning at all costs is so important to you, and why you deem humiliating 'wins' to be the best out of all.

In detriment of that people mindstate and motivation etc its a strategy because he expose and underscore that his is bad and make him just "make mistakes".

You know that's how colonial powers justified fighting people who had spears and arrows with rifles and cannons... aka it's a #########, selfish mindset and not a 'strategy' unless you are scum

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2158283#Comment_2158283

What can i do thats how tactic works ,but every tactic has a counter the counter to this tactic is staying calm and not panicking and no i dont want to anyone to feel bad only becuse they were taunted in the video game i rarely even do that becuse as any tactic it has downsides .and how did you compare tactic to being good ,and yes if i teabagged a killer and then i win it is a skill it .By your logic if for example really good killer like i dunno Otzdarva or someone even better than him uses hook tunneling tactic or camping they aren't skilled ?

is trying to make someone with higher skill than you make a mistake a tactic? there actually yes.

is it one when you know the person is weaker. no.

    this isn't rocketscience.

but you know, this mindset is in part to blame for the lack of balance.

But alright: Do tell me something: How often do you use that 'tactic' against weaker players and afterwards tell them how to do better (if you can use the chat)

  • @Polishnope said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/247006/clickers-and-toxicity-of-swfs-read-before-complain

How is teabagging or flashlight clicking toxic, the only thing that is toxic is taking a fictional game based on horror to the real world and talking shi to the others, the teabagging and flashlight clicking is imo really good strategy becuse you can in the easy way piss of not experienced killer so they can make more mistakes.I saw a lot of SWF groups that respect me when i win the game against them most of the toxicity come from the bad players that have ego higher than the mount Everest

    You answered your own question:

teabagging and flashlight clicking is imo really good strategy becuse you can in the easy way piss of not experienced killer so they can make more mistakes.

AKA you want someone you know is less experienced than you feel bad so that you can 'win' and pretend you won through skill.

  • The weirdest thing is:

given what we already see the game mechanics do it'd be very easy to introduce an aggravation meter to turn toxicity into moris... like, you mess around too much, killers get their of version of michael's tombstone. it could work AND still be balanced.

likewise the game mechanics would allow to actively punish camping etc.

    why don'T they?

  • Pray.

Seriously, best you can do is hope you get a genuinely good killer, aka one who can recognize survivor's skills and takes it easy. Also: check around for bloodpoint codes to get some perks in

  • Naturally, the feeling of devs prefer X is subjective.

And if you dig deeper, the reasons become a bit weird.

Let's take the recent pallet stun and breakdown bugs:

The stun bug was acknowledged as hindering and was supposedly fixed (it was sorta fixed but not entirely and there's other palett bugs in addition), while the breakdown bug was acknowledged as existing, but we were told that it's not reportable.

Why? why is something that is objectively hindering (breakdown) deemed less hindering than something subjectively hindering (sometimes matches go by in which no pallet's thrown at all despite long chases).

I think it is simply the old lack of communication and unwillingness to admit to mistakes. best guess is that the stun bug was quickly located, while the breakdown bug wasn't, and no one dared admitting it.

Another reason people are very wary is the outward randomness with which game elements are greeted by the devs:

Tunneling, slugging and camping are annoying and, no, they are not a valid tactic. they simply mean you can't deal with not winning. it's a pain in the back to a lot of survivor players, yet despite these approaches being nothing more than a poor show of the killer player, devs shrug it off. either cause they don't want to admit they don't know how to tackle it, or they know but don't want to out of fear for losing those players.

Same vice versa when you look at certain builds and items. Keys are a mess. moris for killers got nerfed, but right now there's an unaddressed key-bug that isn't tackled. also there's no definite plan on what to do with keys in general (best way would be either to remove them entirely or have it that they can ONLY be found in chests after a certain point). multiple flashlights, usually a sign a squad's out to annoy the killer? shrugged off by the devs.

In short: it does come down to the lack of communication and the resulting sense of the devs mocking the entire palyerbase, killers and survivors alike.
