I don't recall us having a particularly good track record of pointing this out.
then we're on different areas of the fandom, cause damn, i've seen so many people point out what could go wrong and guess what, it did go wrong.

I don't want to be a Negative Nancy or anything, but I'm kind of disappointed we didn't get any representation from the modern games. No killer, no survivor, no map, it's all from RE2 and 3.
they should have used the anniversary AND 20th chapter to give us a double pack. Like, heck, just give us jack baker along with the swamp update...
in fact, heck, seeing nemesis' ingame ability this would have worked fine for baker. scrap the zombies and instead have it that if he misses he leaves some sticky mold on the floor that'd slow down survivors

LMAO it didn't even lauched yet stop complaining
this is the info we got from the shown gameplay.
And if there is one good thing about this community then it's how good we are at pointing out the things that WILL go wrong with a chapter (see Ruin/Undying)
-
zombies to make you waste pallets....
Plus a huge map with already few safe loops etc and.... wow... no...
Oh, and a super-special ability for a bonus flashlight that will waste a perk slot.
-
So, the power is a mix between slinger and plague?
-
Either I missed it or no one yet suggested the catacombs of paris for the twins
-
What baffles me in addition is how people are getting at your throat for even suggesting there might as well be two new killers. It's the 5th anniversary AND the 20th chapter, so why not?
And yeah, some of the reasoning why it can't be a certain character but MUST be another are ridiculous. Especially with Lady D, when people say 'she's not iconic enough' (and I look at the cater-to-k-pop-fans chapter that is All Kill which had for all we know a shorter development time than the collab for RE) or 'she's too big' (as if the entity hasn't messed with physical shapes before) Not to mention... about height...
in the Game map, we have a passage was that say 1.98 m max... yet there's at least three heads space for Deathslinger and Plague... are you telling me these two are smaller than 1.98?
-
As this is a major chapter (5th anniversary AND 20th chapter) i'd not be surprised if we'd get various things:
racoon city, baker's swamp and the village
after all, the latter two could be build up on the basis of swamp and red forest, which already are due for an update
-
i think there's a certain chance the mappools will be overhauled once the graphic updates are through.
Like, the aforementioned badham could be reduced down to a single map with better tiles, while swamp (now decently playable) or glenvale could get more.

I do, but I don't have anyone to do a kyf with sooo yeah. Gonna have to learn that by myself.
someone's ought to help you out with it. (not me, i don't have the patience)
-
On the note on the sliding off:
Does anyone have the patience to go through every map and tile thereon to check where blight slides off?

I'm lost what are the different powers? I mean also keep in mind dbd has also been sticking the the generic slasher horror movie vibe and theme. Ofc you'd never see a wheel man in dbd.
tying someone to the wheel method of torture/execution anyone?
i think the dev's bigger issue is all the loud brats in the community here that would not stop spamming everywhere if we'd get killers that can't be looped and juked 'easily' (i mean... you can make a drinking game out of it: check a social media post and count the responses until the first 'nerf/remove this killer' (usually deathslinger, twins or spirit)

Are you sure you're not just remembering one or two Slinger matches you got on Lery's today? There's no way you got the same map 26 times in a row unless you've played other killers in-between. If it is a bug that's one of the most bizarre bugs that I've heard of in this game.
I played some survivor matches inbetween (on other maps) but each time I switched back to deathslinger, bang, lery's
edit: I FINALLY ended up on Ormond. Which isn't better, but it's not lery's

@Jivetalkin13 said:
Did they use any offerings? If not I calculated a 0.007% chance of that happening. Not impossible given the amount of people play and how much each individual play, but very unusual. Although, my math could be off.
not a single map offering used in all those matches. a few hatch offerings iirc, but no maps.
-
Simple Explanation:
Both sides have their objectives in a match.
When people go and declare tunneling, slugging and camping 'fair and valid tactics' because they help the killer with their objective (sacrifing survivors) and can't therefore be 'unfair' they are overlooking one factor:
In a fair match each party should have an equal chance of fulfilling their objectives.
If you slug, tunnel or camp, you take away the survivors chance to get any of their objectives done, compared to whenyou play fair. Likewise when survivors genrush or hide the whole match through (even if just to wait out the others dying) they hinder the killer doing their objectives
-
you should go back to playing fair and nice. Cause trust me, there's nothing more satisfying than some entitled survivors throwing a tantrum over how they didn't get any value out of their second chance builds cause you played fair
-
Counterpoint:
How do survivors handle going against nurse. (or generally any killer)
Because you can see it commonly that high ranke skilled nurses go up against survivors, swf or not, that try NOTHING to counter nurses repertoire, but rely entirely on their looping and juking 'skills'.
It's the same people who will pop gens with 2-4 people having a rtb on, who will run away in a straight line from deathslinger or who will run into a basement against a nearby hag. All because finishing the match asap is the only valid approach to them, and when they lose due to that they'll declare the killerplayer as hacker or the killer as OP, unfun and boring and in need of a massive nerf.

Except in the case of lowering MMR, they are giving their opponents easier trials as well by essentially nerfing themselves in order to not increase their score.
I wonder what it would actually be like if the system worked properly and the Devs were transparent...
Well, i mean we can tell from the emblem system and certain perks what the game can tell apart in terms of match-events.
In the best case we'd have people that camp and tunnel (which the game can tell) only ever having to get up against people that excel in looping and juking until they change for the better.
-
No idea on survivors, but jack baker or lady D for killer
-
deathslinger (especially something that retcons the bloody baldness), jeff and something nice for dwight.
dwight has been turned into such a massive buttmonkey character that it's getting... dull...
-
@bubbabrotha said:
The killers look awesome now! Especially doctor!
they are steadily updating the character models
-
Let's emphasis the obvious again:
Unless you've been tunneling (and potentially camping) BT should be NO concern to you.
-
More info: No video (no way to record on this comp, but looking into it) but something that might be related:
I observed a similar issue with Plague: her purge (either) connects, the hit animation and sound plays, but no infection/hit is registered. I can't test with huntress or trickster, so could someone else try if their hits are as broken?
-
I stopped reading when you said you are 'bored of getting 4ks'.
You know, people like you are the problem in the game. The kind of people who can't take it easy, as if their life depends on it. As if someone would come into your home and kill your loved ones if you don't sweat for the red rank.
Just relax, for crying out loud. Take it easy, try out new builds, try out new killers.
-
Though a little tricky to implement:
the ability to jump into ongoing matches if someone dcs.
-
I'd say in reality it's only a handful of people but they are LOUD and they won't shut up until the convinced people that their way of playing is the only legit one, and that all perks and killer abilities that work against their playstyle must be removed
-
For everyone saying that it's 'good' that it happens during egc because that way players continue to play 'normal'...
What exactly will happen if you lose a pip? I'm really curious, because so many ideas for being less toxic etc are getting smacked down with arguments that boil down to 'i don't wanna lose a pip, losing pip = bad', and I wonder why you are so mortally scared of that.

You are aware that I never said anything like that, right? this is what we call a straw-man argument.
My point in calling out certain behaviors is to highlight the simple fact that this is behavior I only see up in high ranks, especially when dealing with well organized teams. I did not make any statements regarding the legitimacy or illegitimacy of any play style. hate to say it but you sound like a typical survivor main of any rank.
wow, amazing, you are wrong on literally ALL accounts.
-
Because just like you think that tunneling, camping and slugging are legit tactics because getting a 4k at all costs is the way the game must be played, these guys think that genrushing etc are the way the game must be played.
congratz, you are complaining about your image in the mirror
-
Really, I'm always baffled at how sweaty and malicious people get after rank reset just to get 'back' to red ranks, and how they only ever seem to mock new/casual players.
Like, honest question to everyone upset at the rank hiccup: are you going to lose a vital organ if you take things easy from time to time?
-
@Guest1567432 said:
I would also like to point out that this event promotes a slugging play style because if someone is slugged the egc timer is slowed. So get to egc, NOED everyone and search for the Gnome while the survivors bleed out. Good call devs Good call. Im a killer main and I don't like to slug even for a 4K and I sure as ######### don't want to slug for a charm.
and in general it is frustrating cause you are so at the mercy of 'the other side'.
Play as killer and you have to pray the survivors don't just run out the gates and give you the time to search the maps (especially 'fun' with slower killers) (so yeah, this really encourages slugging, wth)
Play as survivor and you gotta hope the killer lets you live AND search for the gnome AND let you out
-
it depends on the survivors behaviour beforehand. toxic brats get no mercy, but when I see someone trying, giving up etc, i usually spare them.

Idk cause I'm watching this Anti-Spirit guide and it was made Mar 8, 2020 which is a little over a year old. In the video i can hear her footsteps.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGXx8dhp3sM&t=1s
However in more recent videos I cannot hear her footsteps. Still tryin to see if I can find patch notes on it.
Yeah but this is the thing:
Ayrun seems to claim the devs had a patch TO have the footsteps hearable, when it's more likely that it was a bug that didn't call for setting the footsteps' sound being set to off when she's phasing.
This kinda bug is hard to spot (especially in spaghetti code), cause even if it's just an *if function, the culprit for it not calling the operation can be anywhere.
-
@CantDeadHarder said:

welll GrimReaperJr1232 here said that survivors hearing her footsteps was a bug, but I'll see what I can find.
well, a bug not disabling her footsteps sounds is def NOT the same as a path enabling her footstep sounds.
If ayrun claimed they know there was such patch when there wasn't...
-
@CantDeadHarder said:
So Ayrun basically said that the devs had removed the ability for survivors to hear her footsteps while she's phasing. He said that patch was around a year ago
Why would they do that? I tested it out with a friend in a custom game, and I could not hear the footsteps at all. Also I had them move through tall grass to see if she could atleast interacting with the environment, and she didn't move the grass at all.
How is this fair exactly? I shouldn't need to run Lucky Break + Iron Will to bring her down to a manageable level. This means that Spirit currently is just pure guesswork, I've even tried looking at her shards ranging from low - Ultra graphics, no difference.
well, did ayrun provide any proof for that claim? cause, y'know, judging by how they are on twitter they are quite bigmouthed and spiteful...
-
Additional pro:
Fanciest hooks in the game
-
Again:
Her height aside. What exactly would the powers of Nemesis or X BE?
sure, one of them we see turn civilians into zombies, but that's not going to work as power. Not even as mori.
-
How does the mobile version handle it? afaik they don't have the bloodweb
-
i really hope it's lady d... we could get legendary related skins for plague, twins, legion, deathslinger and blight.

I don't think getting licensed content included in DBD is going to change core things like the bloodweb or introduce scummy practices from those companies
think with the above companies is this:
the want to see money. Think it's only cause there's more players (thus a need for servers) that we get so much payed content since the SH chapter? naw.
@JimboMason said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2182603#Comment_2182603
Ok I'm pretty sure getting a shareholding license would not cause a company to take over the game, but I get why you worry
it's not about 'taking over the game' (though that can be in the contract too, in the form of dictating prices for stuff), but demanding the profit to surpass a certain margin.
-
@JimboMason said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2182106#Comment_2182106
Exactly, the 3heads at that company destroyed dead space and buried the series in the ground, luckily the guys who made the original dead space are making a spiritual successor called the callisto protocol
like, there are at least 3 big NOs of companies you don't wanna make contracts with in videogames:
EA
Di$ney
Konami.
We are already unlucky bhvr got the last one on their back now (regardless of the chapter's quality etc), any of the other two would kill the game.
Do you really want p2p? lootboxes instead of the bloodweb? stuff like that?
-
@BraveClem said:
they asked about Dead Space in their survey so it's possible,but isn't Dead Space owned by EA? um,seems kinda difficult...
dunno if it is, but EA is one of the companies you DO NOT WANT to make contracts with.
-
the entity can manifest sunlight since glenvale...
-
Are LoL or CoD hypertoxic? sure. but here's the thing:
DbD has a smaller community, so you gotta look at ratios, and there these communities are... pretty equal, and toxic people are LOUD.
-
@Seraphor said:
Why not? Most of Franklins pressure comes from getting rid of medkits and toolboxes.
@Mat_Sella said:
if you care enough that you want to keep your medkit/toolbox, that's the whole reason why Franklin's gets rid of everything in the first place.
then franklin's countdown ought to stop when there's camping.
-
A lot of people see how Twins players often camp, and overlook that for twins camping is NOT the same as with (insidious) bubba:
Twins might be the only killer in the roster where a specific way of camping, namely parking either of them at a hook/etc is legit as you have to split your attention between victor and charlotte, and make decisions on what to do if a survivor comes near the other.
so, they take quite a bit of skill and organization talent
-
It's not that the clocks are 'annoying to get'. they are interupting the 'genrush and loop' tactic so many seem to deem the only valid way of playing survivor.
it's like with pig and people dying to the RBTs because they'd rather pop gens and activate their traps than to get the traps off and then doing gens.
Or people who think deathslinger is 'unfun' because his one strength are chases, but are fine with trickster and bubba, because they can be looped
-
@Squirrel_Thicc said:
I don't because farming takes forever and it's extremely boring. I always feel bad about killing them after it, but I'm not spending another 30 minutes in that trial.
then just... stand to the side and let them do their thing.
-
FD is a workaround to a problem that could have been solved much more easily.
As it is now, it's often used to be obnoxious, not to actually even the odds. And the better solution would have been a rework to keys (like only have them spawn in chests instead of being brought in) and to items in general.
I maintain the opinion that a lot of stuff in the game could be fixed with dynamic map generation

Eh I feel like if a Trapper is able to set all of that up a survivor should be at fault and I'd feel totally fine allowing Trapper to do that since it would take forever to do. I think it would definetly make him better but I don't think it would make him good enough to be OP.
remember this is a community that measure how 'fun' a killer is by how well he can be looped and nothing else
