"It's so boring". OMG, I'm so sick of this statement.

I find getting carted in Monster Hunter boring, so I get better at it

I find getting sniped in a FPS boring, so I avoid his kill zone and go around

I find losing all my HP to torpedos in World of Warships boring, so I learned to randomize my headings.

I find getting camped boring, so I punish the behavior by doing gens for 5 minutes.

    Welcome to ######### video games.

    To translate this:

'I dunno how to actually effectively play my character in dbd so I resort to camping'

Camping, tunneling and slugging are a clear sign of lack of skill and unwillingness to accept a loss, and unwillingness to learn how a killer works.

And that you get a minus on points is not punishment enough. By all means, the game CAN tell when someone's camping or actually doing other things around the hook (tested it). It can tell if you are looking for a survivor, if you kick a nearby gen or palett etc. it can tell if you proxy camp of if you are searching the area.

So the game could e.g. stop the hookprogression if you're camping, and even move the survivor to the exitgate if you're still camping after the last gen's done. It should do that. If you feel the need to e.g. do basement bubba, tough luck. no kill for you.

The game would be a lot nicer if all those that would throw a tantrum over such mechanic would bugger off.

  • Silent Hill

    Claudette, Claudette/Felix

    Plague, Deathslinger/Plague

  • I had something similar when i bought a perk from the shrine that then somehow popped up on tier 3 in my available perks. but i assume you checked the available perks already?

  • No it's fine.

Heck, as killer I sometimes let people leave cause I see they brought an event item that's not available anymore

  • Look, why would you want a scooby doo chapter... if we don't get a new map with teleport-door-hallways?

Imagine thinking this is bait. This is an important thing that Ubisoft needs to address.

    -3/10 then

  • Also, Iri coin:

it's already a pain how many people thing they git skill using the coin in combo with M&A, it doesn't need an addon to increase the range.

Nah alot of the allure that brings new comers into the game is the licensed characters. As someone said it's the smash bros of horror game

with the difference that Nintendo can absolutely afford these things.

  • Remove the licensed characters, would be a start.

    Hear me out:

Licenses consistently have to be renewed, and especially konami and now capcom are absolutely vile when it comes to that. so a lot of money now goes into the licenses

Let the license run out and replace the licensed characters with proxies, respectively remove those that already have (better) proxies altogether.

I know lotsa people would hate it, but it'd allow for cheaper cosmetics and general better stuff.

  • the thing is:

How does one define 'good content'

Cause if you look at here, twitter, etc the most vocal voices define 'good content' as anything that gives them an iWin button. Just look how survivors were wailing over the DS change, and killers over the BT change. All because the changes took away a way for them to feel superior without having any actual skill.

Look at whenever someone suggests how something can be done against tunneling, slugging and camping, and the same loud people come out of the woodwork to rage and rave and rant about how 'some killers are dependant on it' 'it's a legit tactic' 'the devs allow it' etc, despite knowing very well the frustration it brings does drive players away, thus causing the long Q times and all-over-the-place matchmaking.

Look at some people's utter unwillingness to learn new mechanics that aren't obvious, aka killer powers. instead survivors measure on whether or not a killer can be semi-successfully be looped and juked, if yes, the killer is 'fun' to go against, if not they're 'boring and should be removed'. Just look how some people say trickster is more fun to go against than deathslinger... And killers measure it solely in how easily can the powers be exploited to tunnel/camp/slug.

There's still an onslaught of utterly unrealistic demands, not wishes, for licensed chapters, completely ignoring the costs and pressure that would bring. We already got konami and soon capcom on the game's shoulders, do you REALLY want disney to plant it's nasty rear on the game just so you can have ALIEN? Trust me, you don't, people.

Also the general aversion against any new mechanics and modes. Because if you can easily win by looping/juking respectively tunneling/slugging/camping it's not a good thing.

And on the topic of cosmetics: one way to handle chapters from ch20 on for a while would be to have massive cosmetic packs for all original characters, but people hate that idea. they, somehow, WANT new killers, survivors and perks, yet they don't.

    It's a bloody mess

  • you just want people to say 'nea'

An auto UB could be stupid though, and would be game changing. This would just be QOL changes.

This would only really help if you slugged 3-4 people in the endgame to stop them going UB and opening the gates and leaving.

An auto UB (you also didn't specify if it had 1 use so ima assume it has unlimited) with unlimited uses is stupid. It would remove slugging as a tactic, one of the most dependable killer strategies that's necessary quite a lot of the time.

I'm all for not having deerstalker basekit (I think people should be able to get away and if they have UB get up in a safe position when slugged). But having it would be nice.

The solution shouldn't be to continue allowing slugging as a tactic, but punish slugging while making it unnecessary in the first place without giving anyone an iwin button.

Also, when exactly is slugging 'needed'. it's a game for crying out loud, you won't get your vital organs irl removed if you don't get a kill in.

  • Deerstalker and Bloodhound should be combined and be made basekit.

There is no reason in lore why the entity should NOT enable the killers to see bloodtrails better and spot downed survivors.

maybe not have it if a survivor is on the ground for two min (haven't you bleed out by then?) but maybe have it similar to Premonition that you get an audiocue if you look in their general direction or something? or have the aura pop up just briefly and then have a cooldown? and the popup gets longer the more time passes?

This could be combined with an auto-unbreakable for survivors, like, if the killer slugs and ignore survivors for a certain time (including picking them up and dropping them to mock them and to potentially trick such timer) the entity picks the survivor up and places them at the exit gate furthest from the killer.

  • Best guesses:

    MacMillan:

They don't really know what exactly to do with macmillan?

Like, look at Trapper's tome entry, that's something hinting at him being from the early 20th century. Yet we got all these computers, fancy cars etc.

The whole design of the estate strikes me as stemming from a time when Trapper seemed meant to stem from the 1970 to 1990, instead of what his tome entry later on turned him into.

Trapper and his map need to be redone (designwise) from the ground up (he got a graphical update, but he's still not fitting with his tome entry self) to fit with the 1920s theme of the tome entry.

    Azarov's:

Same issue. Sure, the graphical rework added bodyparts in the walls, but it still doesn't really feel right with what we DO know from Wraith's lore.

The best thing to do with Azarovs would be making it a pseud-indoor map. A labyrinth of stacked wrecks with little gaps the move through, barrels and debris to push out of the way (like special breakable walls) etc.

  • Twins have a unique playstyle that meddles with the usual 'have ruin protect the gens and slug and facecamp people'.

Sure, a lot of people do use them for camping, but it's a kind of camping that is for once challenging for both sides:

With regular camping you can run in and unhook, maybe get hit, maybe fail at the unhook, as the killer has their whole attention on just one character. With the twins the killer and survivors need to pay so much more attention and make different decisions than with regular camping that... with the twins camping is actually okay. because there is a fairer aspect to it with them

And a lot of people don't want that it'd seem

    EDIT: To elaborate:

You can hook someone and park either victor or charlotte by the hook, but then you got to pay twice the attention to the game and have more decisions to make:

Do you see a chase through and get a survivor injured, or do you switch back and stop an unhook?

You have to divide your attention between two characters, with one of them being 'killable' by survivors.

And survivors also have more decisions to make:

If you parked victor by the hook, do they go for the kick or the unhook? Do they wait for someone else to come and help? if they go for the kick or the unhook, where they too close and victor will jump in their face if they get near?

  • @BrokenSouI said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/244037/so-the-game-can-already-tell-camping-from-doing-other-things-around-the-hook

Because camping shouldnt be punished. Sometimes it's a neccesary thing.. So why should the killer be punished ?

    when is it necessary?

Because nothing but your ego gets mildly damaged if you don't win a match. (same goes for survivors)

    @BrokenSouI said:

Unskilled twats....? Let's be real here. Survivors are the unskilled twats for really only needing to hold m1 and on occasion W to win..A killer has to process the where people are. We have to fake you out at loops to even get a hit. ..You tell me who's unskilled. As far as hook camping. There's PLENTY of valid reasons and scenarios to do so

name one (1). Name one that doesn't boil down to 'I can't stand the idea of not winning my matches and mocking the other players'. One.

  • @BubbaDredge said:

Because camping isn't against the rules, it's SPECIFICALLY ALLOWED in the rules.

Bit odd seeing you lose points for it.

Let's be real for a moment: The devs allow camping, tunneling etc because that is what keeps unskilled twats playing. imagine the game would require they show some actual skill... Just look around the forum and people complaining about the new BT because it will make stealth-camping impossible/harder.

  • A lot of these perks are only valuable if the killer plays unfair. If you don't slug, there's no value in UB, if you don't tunnel there's no value to DS.

Adrenaline can be made lose its value through Thana (not in all cases).

Still, the entire perk pool needs a severe overhaul.

  • No. because then you would know not to cheat. you'd challenge yourself to your best abilities, take the wins, take the losses, and don't go act as if your sheer existence demands you get to win.

huh... where have i heard this mentality of 'we exist therefore it is unthinkable we'd ever lose' before....

    @Rivyn said:

It's Trickster, the weakest killer in game. Even weaker than old Clown. How else are you supposed to play with him? He's literally punished for using his power.

How about... not play him at all? Thus show the devs that 'nope, back to the drawing board'

What is it with you people trying to make excuses for this kind of despicable mentality...

This argument is faulty to me because it implies that players should not be trying to win by any means necessary (barring any actual breaking of the rules), lest they be looked down upon for doing so.

    counterquestion:

What does it say about you as a person if you are that obsessed with a win in a game that you act like this?

You know, that kind of thinking actually IS a sign of an addiction.

oh yeah, right. and before predatory battlepass system.

    It's sadly connected:

Konami is absolutely notorious for how they handle licenses. Like, it's very likely that bhvr would have to pay them a hefty fee if the game does not make a certain amount of money per quarter.

  • @Profezia said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2122530#Comment_2122530

Then I remember how they even bothered to make an announcement in game where they promised to ban anyone who took blade addons on Legion.

this was before they made a deal with the devil and licensed something from konami, wasn't it?

  • It's sad how basically all statements about the game from the devs and community managers boil down to 'go ######### yourself'

Be it this, the 'we could change the UI but it would mean undoing months of work'-guilt-tripping attempt, the list of exploits etc that are NOT bannable but don't get fixed, the statement that camping, tunneling and slugging are 'sometimes necessary', trickster, the lack of worthwhile events, mindboggling decisions in terms of perk and map changes, the general ignorance towards community feedback....

  • The stuff that is 'not bannable' really show a severe desperation for players, if you ask me

  • @Mineguy said:

  • @WiiFitTrainer said:

Trickster is so weak the "scummy" ones are probably desperately trying to secure atleast one kill per match.

He's basically the hard mode if killers (along with nurse)

'trying to secure on kill'... we are not talking about 4 gens popping before the first survivors down, scenarios.

we are talking 'hook survivors one by one after slugging' or 'go directly for the slug and let people bleed out, only patroling in case someone has unbreakable'

The latter I have seen in 5 matches against trickster already. Five.

I haven't seen this 5 times with bubba even.

This isn't 'trying to get at least one kill'

  • @MrDardon said:

In my opinion, he is fine. I'd probably change some annoying stuff like spamming M2.

    Deathslinger:

    - Instant ADS like before (no change)

    - Redeemer Wind Down Time is now 1.5 seconds instead of being instant (similar to the Executioner)

    - The Deathslinger now moves at 4.6 m/s when the Redeemer is not reloaded, also increasing his Terror Radius to 32 metres when the Redeemer is not reloaded.

The thing with M2 is a two-edged sword, though:

Sure, you have a lot of people that don't know how to play him who abuse it. But those that actually can play won't 'spam' it, but only lower the gun again because they can't get a good shot in. punishing them for the incompetence of others isn't fair. Cause it's not really comparable to PH.

    Things I'd change would be

    • Bar him from M&A

Everything else can be solved with dynamic map generation, which would make the game fairer for everyone in general, and which the game should be capable of

  • @Zarathos said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2122124#Comment_2122124

Continuous defeat invokes a negative reaction in players and builds a general irritable mood in the player. So when they win after a large dose of loss after loss they (wrongfully) take out there resentment on others and act like sore winners. I'm not arguing its acceptable I'm explaining its existence because often understanding where someone's crappy attitude is coming from is often the best way of inspiring others to do better. Make no mistake this is the capital G gaming attitude.

    Still faulty:

People know Trickster is not a well designed killer. Everything about him screams makeshift for the sake of getting kpop fans to buy the game to presetn good sales numbers for the quarter.

He is a killer that should not exist, hands down. Everything about this chapter could have been done with a themed perk&cosmetic pack, without bringing in new characters.

So, people know they are playing with broken equipment and cheat to get a win in and then claim it's fair because... the equipment is broken? Like, again, if its only the aesthetics that appeal to someone, they might be better off playing something else... Persona or Yakuza maybe. (yes, i know those are japanese while trickster is korean. But the aethetics are similar, and if people only care for that....)

  • remove it.

just like DS or OoO a lot of these perks and addons are relics. They fit the frnachises lore, sure, but they don't work for the game.

  • @Zarathos said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2122102#Comment_2122102

Point still stands the trickster still does so poorly no wonder the killer resorts to cheap tactic's thanks for the heads up. Look at the history of weak killer's and ask how many were known as camping tunneling killers a large majority of them tended to be weaker killers because and it needs to be stressed the more lost the game seems the more likely a killer will camp or tunnel. Because no matter what you might say about what's fair a killer will generally take whatever path is needed to win. Because they want to win the game. Now if you want to talk about changing up the hook system to limit this stuff and promote hooking multiple survivor's, I'm all ears but as of now killers rely on these strategies as a last resort should the game be going poorly.

    The argument is massively faulty:

It's a game. You are not going to lose any vital organs or loved ones if you don't win (even though that's exactly the ridiculous mentality so many streamers and fogwhisperers push. People oughta to some severe soulsearching).

So playing like that is a choice because people have to pamper their egos, nothing else. And with trickster I see it so commonly that the matches are full of the cheapest tactics. And the less said about the chat the better. Gods, these people are obnoxious. Really, again, with bubba and freddy you get your people that play fair and challenging and have an honest gg and sometimes helpful hints. trickster? mockery and even obviously false claims that they are on the devs team/related to a dev and that they'll ban us if we complain... AS IF ANYONE WOULD BELIEVE THAT.

that means playing the game without giving survivors win.

you oughta know me better, mate.

It means consistently mocking survivors. Slugging and letting people bleed out (even bubba at least hooks people), playing even more sweaty when someone DCs etc. basically stuff you'd expect on LoL or fortnite

  • I think the issue is they need to present quarterly results to their investors. Especially konami and capcom are notirious about this when they license something, so the SH and RE chapters might have been a turn for the worse.

  • The barbs on the spear double as crosshairs, whatever horizontal surface the level with you will shoot over.

Forget the advice about M&A, that's what people who don't know how to play him use. His music starts off very low and is often drowned out by other sounds, giving you the same advantage a lot of people think only M&A can give. Once you got a feeling for it M&A can go straight into the trashbin, as can STBFL. There's better obsessionperks to use with him, like dark devotion.

Not running stbfl is at bottom line even advantageous, as it lures survivors into a false safety making them (going by experience) easier to hit.

Never knew the killer was losing when Survivors rush the hook when doing rescues. Or that they deserved to lose because they got genrushed by a 200 hours team on several gens at once and now have nowhere to go during EGC.

Do you think slugging to deal with genrush is fair btw?

slugging is nonsense in general, and gen rush is a testament to the overly simple design the game has right now. both need to be addresses and improved

I always found it hilarious how community tourneys have to balance the game themselves by not letting people use like half the perks addons and items let alone making sure its on a balanced map. I love community tourneys but I think this goes to show how ######### the balance in this game is

    ^^ this

And like, many have pointed this out before: The mechanics are there:

The mechancis to adjust the map to the killer and the addons & perks brought, barring certain killers from perks, perk/addon combos, likewise for survivors, or to just punish camping, tunneling and slugging fairly.

But bring any of that up and you'll have a very very loud minority in the community cry bloody murder because 'sometimes camping is totally necessary and slugging is a legit tactic'... no, darlings, it just means you don't know how to play well and can't accept that in a game you sometimes lose. do some soulsearching.

  • E-sports.

by all means, they seem eager to make the game 'esports ready' even though as meager as the mechanics and objectives are atm it won't pan out

  • Well, we did have a tome challenge to earn 1 point in altruism or something along those lines

  • @sulaiman said:

wait what? Hooks dont repair themself after breakdown?

Yeah, thats a bug i would expect them to fix as fast as possible '*slotting breakdown into my survivorbuild*

It appeared with the same patch as the pallettstun bug where the KILLER would SOMETIMES not get stunned.

Guess what they fixed of the two

  • @Judgement said:

It is bannable. But not everyone views the forums or even any DBD media outside of the game itself. Some people might not recognise that Breakdown is bugged. It’s not like a Survivor is going to stand at the hook for three minutes to thing ‘oh it didn’t fix itself’, and even if they did they aren’t automatically gonna think ‘must be broken’.

oh, some people have asked if it is reportable and were told 'no'

  • @Aztreonam78 said:

Probably not, he might be stronger than Pig, but still.

The most recent patch didn't address his core issues. He is incapable of pressuring multiple survivors at once, he still can be dodged around loops with walls with unacceptable easiness, his main event is the most useless power up thing in the game in comparison with Blood Fury, Corrupt Purge, even tier 3 Myers, etc.

    Let's pick the complains apart:

'pressure multiple survivors at once' He has a very fast attack. If he could easily target multiple survivors at once (like bubba) especially since he's a ranged killer... that'd be a problem

'can be dodged around loops': remember how people complain how deathslinger can't be dodged at loops (which btw is not correct?) imagine if there'd be no save spot from a killer with a much bigger and much faster attack, especially now that the spread has been reduced.

There is no way of 'fixing' him without making him absurdly OP. Trickster is a killer that should not have happened, hands down.

  • Food for thought:

If it's Baker they could bring a RE map with the Swamp update, I think

  • @Dragonshensi said:

Love how I get crapped on for using NOED and sometimes camping or tunneling but when survivors use Adrenline, Soul Guard, Unbreakable, Borrowed Time, Dead Hard, etc that’s just part of the game and I need to git gud. How many times have Killers been denied kills by these perks but survivors get salty when the killer manages to kill maybe one of them with NOED. How dare that killer! Literally one of my matches ended with downing a Kate, one second later all gens pop, she gets Adrenline and bolts while I’m still on my “cleaning my weapon?” Animation. Which is so stupid btw. So I got denied that kill. Then another with Soul Guard. But heaven forbid a player uses NOED.

    Let's see:

Adrenaline is only really worthwhile if you slugged, as is Unbreakable. Dead Hard is too unreliable, DS requires tunneling now, BT requires tunneling to be worthwhile...

Are these perks annyoing to killers? yep

Should survivors learn the common totem spawnspots and cleanse bones? yes

Are you still cheap for using noed, camp, tunnel and likely slug noed? yeeeeep

  • No.

Sure, there might be people who would but... I'd rather see more of the Original Content.

Mainly cause 1. this is still dbd. if you want to play RE, play RE. 2. every bit of licensed content comes with a contract that has to be renewed. people already complain how there's no good events anymore and its only purchasable cosmetics, and it'd only get worse the more licensed stuff comes in.

  • I'd say in this case it is reportable as it hinders regular gameplay.

  • Like, it was clear that they'd do something big in terms of new killer/surv for the 5th anniversary AND the 20th chapter.

But I hope afterwards the chapters will be all-character (original at least) cosmetic packs and perks while they concentrate on gamehealth etc

  • Probably not Mr X or Nemesis, because while iconic they... don't have a power that really fits DbD. It will likely rather be someone who has more than 'withstanding bulletts and breaking through walls' (because... technically that is ALL killers in the entity's realm)

    Maybe it's the vampire lady
