Built in Kindred, Bond, Empathy, Object of Obsession+Sole Survivor, Alert, Small Game, Detective's Hunch, Windows of Opportunity, Wake Up, and Open Handed is a good start to getting Solo Survivors up to the same power level as SWF.

That seems a bit extreme, doesn't it? I agree with the first three, Kindred, Bond and Empathy, the rest are way too much.
Honestly Kindred is the main advantage swf survivors have, Knowing what other survivors are doing while someone is hooked is such a help.

It sounds extreme, but think about it. if a single survivor has the aura of the killer, then the whole team has the knowledge in a SWF. There is a reason why killers complain about it so much

I read about hatch camping wars and I am not bothered by it. Let me explain and just my own personal opinion. Have had a few killers now camp the hatch and one game, I was last survivor with 3 gens. Early on I knew what they were doing so I just went ahead and did gens. After each gen checked on killer. Not budging. Managed to do all gens  Open both gates and do all totems because killer obsessed with hatch. Got myself lots of BP. I will always choose to do gens and other objectives and if they do bother to finally move, there hatch camping has given away location of hatch. Long message I know but all I am saying is, the killers can have the hatch, I'll do objectives, escape through gate and go on to next game

Camping is never a good strategy. It only is so effective because survivors play as if they have no brain.
Good job for using your brain btw  (the killer was just afk on hatch probably because he couldnt find you within reasonable time, after a few minutes searchign I dont bother either)

It does not work,. Period. Ever since the halloween event started barring a few chilled out killers, I was either facecamped or tunneled around 95% of my games and tonight witnessed by 3 friends, it happend with 4 different killers. A myers, a doc and 2 dif wraiths.

All did same thing hook you stand there nodding at you and if anyone tries to save just hit em once so they go away to heal, rinse and repeat.

My suggestion is this (cue the killer main hatred) Instead of losing emblem points, put a counter onscreen showing their bloodpoints for the game and while they stay in camp range, show their bloodpoints draining away.

Lazy/bad killers will not give a damn about deranking or not ranking up if they can do this get crappy emblem results and stay where they are, but I am seeing it at rank 3!

Several of my friends have told me they have been in games like this too. it sucks all the fun out of the game when it is played like that. And b4 the killer mains have a go at me, I play killer too, I dont camp as I find that boring, I actually use BBQ and chilli for whats its intended, bonus points nad to go hunt other players, much more fun that way, for everyone.

I don't mind dying in game to a skilled killer, but a lazy swine should not be rewarded for facecamping. I have recorded some of it and asson as I get it to youtube (most likely tomorrow or saturday I will provide the link as proof it is happening.

Don't get me wrong, I love DBD its probably up there with 7 days to die and FO4 for sheer amount of playtime it gets on my PS4, but when damn near every killer I face plays like that, its not fun and I start looking to play something else and maybe eventually give up on DBD.

I have a rule with any game, if I no longer get any fun from playing it, its time for that game to go.

The penalty works very well. I tested it myself. If you camp all the game, then you will go out with zero chaser or maximal bronze chaser if you had to catch the last 2 guys by hand.

What BHVR doesnt understand is that noone wants to rank up as long as the game is such a mess at high ranks regarding unbalance and queue times. On top of that, there are ZERO rewards for ranking up.

Also I dont understand why you dont simply do the gens and leave the killer behind with <10k BP? It is so easy, you just have to hold M1. But nope, survivors - as stupid/entitled as they are - rush the hook even though I make no secret that im standing directly in front of it.
In the games where I tested the penalty, I easily 4ked AND even piped because the survivors refused to use their brains

Dude, that's bs. "As stupid/entitled as they are" that's such an overreaction. In 4 man swf teams that usually works, sure. But in a group of solo survivors, once the last one has realised that the killer is camping, it's probably to late for the last 3 survivors to rush gens effectively against the killer. Has nothing to do with survivors being entitled or stupid. I mean if you play solo survivor, and notice that nobody is unhooking someone who got hooked. Chances are you will think that the other survivors are also doing gens or what not and you will then go in for the save.
This is just the main strategy that can really hurt solo survivors, but not swf survivors. One of the biggest disadvantages solo survivors have.
Also, this game is supposed to be fun for both sides. Camping is no fun at all for survivors. I'd rather get gen rushed by the best 4 man swf team ever than get camped. Cause at least when getting gen rushed I can still play the game.

I play solo all the time and I always facepalm when my idiot mates throw themselves at the killer. No, you dont need voice comms for that, I can deduce that by using my brain too.

Fact is that killers ESPECIALLY camp because SWF are way more altruistic than solos.

There's a difference between hook patrolling, and camping. I start patrolling hooks when I believe that other survivors are near the hooked survivor.
However camping is just standing in front of the hooked person no matter what. And that needs to be nerfed. I already explained why solo survivors have a harder time dealing with killers that camp, but you seemingly just ignored that part. However, I can promise you that if the devs don't do something against camping, and instead nerf gen rush, killers will have the pleasure to wait in lobbies for more than 30 minutes until they finally get survivors they can play against. But I personally would rather not have that, since I main killer.

Yes solo survivors have it harder to identify campers, but it is perfectly possible since I do it as solo survivor too, yyou just need some map awareness and pay attention

Yes, there is a huge gap between solo and SWF, but if you act like SWF isnt a thing, then the game will never be balanced. Looking at the steps BHVR has taken recently, I think they will ignore the SWF/solo difference, I accepted that and derank to play casually now, just a pitty imo, but whatever

I'm definitely not acting like swf isn't a thing. Definitely not, I acknowledge the gap between solo survivors and swf survivors, while I don't think it's quite as bad as some people say, it's still pretty big in my opinion.
But personally, I'm absolutely sure that this game can not be balanced around swf without buffing solo survivors to the level of swf survivors. Otherwise solo survivor players will just quit this game entirely.

Other games consider the fact that you can choose your premades such a big advantage that they have separate reanked queues for premade teams EVEN THOUGH they have ingame voice comms.

In DBD we dont even have ingame voice comms and in DBD its a lot more important than in other games where you have a minimap and all sorts of UI stuff

My personal opinion is that the only solution to this problem is the introduction of ingame voice comms

And I’m not even going to talk about the hitboxes because we all know that they are the size of the maps in this “Perfect” game

Lately i've noticed that the doctors shock treatment isn't quite as reliable as it used to be.

It seems like if the survivor starts the animation before the shock hits, they get to continue it.

ie: Shocked as they are vaulting, and they continue to vault ( Vid here, it happens at a pallet but it happens with windows ect) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhaXnG3rtzU

Or when they go for an unhook. If you hit them before they start the animation, it prevents it, but if they start it, they get to finish.

    Was this intended?

I have noticed this too. A few months ago you were able to shock the survivor during the vault animation and he was basically teleported back to the side where he started from. If you do the same now, the survivor will finish the animation.

just another one of these shadow nerfs that were never mentioned in the patch notes

SO i'm not crazy! Thank you for confirming!

I wish they wouldn't shadow nerf. if it was a bug, just tell us.

    @Aerys said:
Even if they did change it the change makes sense, and unless you read every single patch note to make sure they didn't fix it as a bug I wouldn't say it was a "shadow nerf" or anything. Even if it was a "shadow bug fix" it'd be fine, but transparency is always good I agree.

Sure it makes sense, but that doesnt change the fact that is a nerf to an already weak killer

So it's been quite some time since the hefty emblem system that...did nothing. What is the point in a ranking system when all the good players derank to bully the noobs?

Some extra bloodpoints at least would be nice and encourage people to rank up.

    My solution, bloodpoint multiplier:

    Rank 10: x1.1
    Rank 9: x1.2
    Rank 8: x1.3
    Rank 7: x1.4
    Rank 6: x1.5
Rank 5: x1.6 and 10% Bonus shards during level up
Rank 4: x1.7 and 20% Bonus shards during level up
Rank 3: x1.8 and 30% Bonus shards during level up
Rank 2: x1.9 and 40% Bonus shards during level up
Rank 1: x2 and 50% Bonus shards during level up

Let's say that you will level up to rank 75 on your next game at rank 1 and will get 40,000 bloodpoints on that game.

    Results:

80,000 Bloodpoints instead of 40,000 Bloodpoints
450 Shards instead of 300 Shards

Rank 15 should be x1.0 and then it should gradually improve.
But I think x2 is a bit too much, not sure

  • Introduce ingame voice comm for everyone.
Balance the game around voice comms.

Even then SWF sitll has a really high advantage that they can choose their premades, other games consider this advantage so big that they even have separate ranked queues for solo / premade players.

Anyone tell me what in all the world is this? Generator algorithm?

Not true, in a recent q and a they debunked the myth of SWF being an afterthought. They just didnt have time to flesh out that AND kill your friends at release. Theyve always had teamplay in mind.

The game simply has been built for solo, they have been saying this for 2 years and if you look at the game, you should realize that it is indeed the case.

  • When you cant finish the mori animation, then it doesnt coutn as mori. The moment you get the sacrifice BP from moring is when you also get the mori progress towards your daily.

Dont ask me why this is the case, but I guess BHVR didnt imagine that survivors would DC left and right

Just now my friends were in a 30 minute lasting game where the killer kept them sandbagged inside the basement. Pretty sure this falls under gameplay sabotage and I wanted to report this with evidence so that maybe something can be considered to do about this? Cause things like this sadly happen regularly. I'm aware the basement is a trick spot for survivors and that's totally cool but this just ruins the gameplay.

    >
Sandbagging is when you use another survivor to lose the killer.

I assume what happened to you is that the killer bodyblocked you in the basement for 30 mintues? If it really was that long, then this is called "holding the game hostage" and this is a bannable offense indeed. Just record it for 10 minutes or sth and send it to the devs via email, but dont forget to also report ingame.

Regularly? In 2 years of playing DBD this happened exactly 2 times to me^^

And if you don't care about the perks then move on. The only real punishment is for swf groups telling each other what the killer is using.

Jendenise deranks by DCing regularly and she hasnt been banned so far.

We dont know actual numbers, but I think the rate is higher than 25%

You have an odd fascination with what others do in video games.

She also probably plays hundreds more matches than most people so the threshold is higher, I've seen Peanits mention it a couple of times but you have a hard time understanding that.

We are talking about a DC rate here, not about a number.

The rate of DCs you need to derank regularly doesnt change, no matter how much you play

Here, I copied the section from her Q&A for you:
    Q: Why do you derank?
I've been in the red ranks very often, and use to stay at rank 1. But I would go against the same 1-2 killers many times in a row and it would become very boring for the stream. I would also have the same teammates every game. I like to stay in the purple/green ranks for more variety. I don't like to derank to the yellow ranks because I do think the yellow and brown ranks should be the new player's haven. I found that players tend to get worse the higher I get in ranks. Every day, I start at around rank 11 and stop my streams at around rank 4-6.

    They absolutely change.

Lets make the numbers simple so you can understand why they have to change.

Take Jim, he plays 20 games a day, and maybe disconnects from 1 or 2 a day. This means in a week, out of 140 games, Jim disconnects from 7 - 14 matches, does he deserve a ban? no.

Now lets take Jon, he plays 5 matches a day and disconnects from 1 - 2 a day, this means out of 35 matches he disconnects from 7 - 14 of those matches. Jon has a much higher chance ( a deserving chance) of being banned as he DCs from a higher percentage of matches than Jim.

And this is why the numbers change depending on your amount of matches, because banning someone for dcing from 5% at the same rate as someone who dcs from 40+% of their matches is silly.

Seems like you dont understand what deranking means. When you want to hover at certain ranks, then you need to DC for every game you play in order to keep at your desired rank.

Lets take jenenise for example. For simiplicity, let her play 50 games per stream before she deranks again.
Lets say she will pip almost every game, sometimes even double pip. Lets simply assume that she gets 60 pips in total for this. This means that she has to DC 30 games after the stream to come back to the rank where she started. i.e. the DC rate is 37,5%.

This rate doesnt change if she only plays 10 games on a day or if she plays 100 per day because for every game you play, you will have to lose pips again.

Sure, if some pleb employs the same strategy, he might not do as well as she does and doesnt pip/double pip as much and will have a slightly lower DC rate, but that doesnt depend on the games played either

Can I see the data you have on Jendenise' Ranking & Derankings, you talk like you know about every match she pips and depips in. I'm just curious as to if you will share this data so we can all have a look at it.

Also, you talk about deranking a lot because you do it yourself, is it implausible that she just suicides in matches, which is the same equivalent as you not playing as killer?

You have such a targeted hate for one individual yet you both derank, you're just a hypocrite tbh.

Edit - Also love your numbers, she plays 50 games and ends up with 60 pips, so you're just going to say she pip in every single game even if she is tunnelled and morid? Your results are already biased towards yourself assuming she pips every match she plays, LOL.

    Did you actually read?

It was just an exmaple with assumption #########. If you dont understand what a rate is, then never mind, I wont bother anymore

So, I had a match as killer last night where I left the obsession until last (not by choice... it was a Camo-dette). After everybody else was downed, I saw them on BBQ & Chili and easily hunted them down, with them eventually eating dirt perhaps 10 yards or so from a hook. "Dr. Dribbles in the house," I thought. Well, the very moment I got them up on my shoulder... WHAM! Decisive Strike. Oooohkay then...? Bit odd, but let's roll with it.

So I chased them back down fairly easily. Figuring DS was now out of the way, I heaved them up and... WHAM! Second Decisive Strike. Ummm, WTH? I stood there flabbergasted for a moment, then began chasing them again. Knowing something was awry, I quickly caught up and laid them cold. In my book, this moment calls for letting the offender bleed out. So I walked with them as they crawled, still trying to process what happened. Did they update DS while I was at work and didn't know it or something? Time ticked away, a step forward to match the crawl. Blood. Corn. Claudette moaning (ugh, Claudette moaning...). Torture. Then, in the faint distance, I began to hear it... the sound of the hatch.

Oh, BS, c'mon now! So, hoping those multiple insta-DSs were just some sort of a glitch and, knowing this person would definitely make the hatch with bleed-out time to spare, I picked them up again and instantly tried to drop them with the ol' dribble. Nope... WHAM! Instant third Decisive Strike!

Well, somehow, some way, this goober ends up running off in the other direction of the hatch and up the tractor/plow where I whacked them down yet again before they could get over the ledge and jump on the cheater bail. They ended up bleeding out wandering aimlessly in a circle at my feet up there. Un-friggin-believable. Pretty stoked that I still got a 4K, but I almost feel sorry for how awful they were; you could definitely tell they needed hacks to be where they were.

So, afterwards in chat, I confronted them about the multiple insta-DSs. Below I'll attach the chat exchange. They knew they cheated, aren't even remotely scared of the devs about it as they mocked onwards with a "whacha' gonna' do about it?" attitude, and the worst part is after I took the screenshots of the chat and went to report it in-game... the client crashed. Well, I looked up the offender, found their SteamID64 as necessary and gathered information, went through the tedious DBD Support Center ticket, and now I get to sit and wonder if anything will ever come of it. Mostly because I know that without that in-game report, the ticket is basically null and void for hacking/cheating offenses (as I later found out by looking at the Game Rules & Report System post... ugh. Meh.). The cheaters in this game and pretty brazen at the moment, and from what I can gather -- unless they're chronic D/C'ers -- pretty much bulletproof, even on PC.

I've had some bad DS experiences in the past, but this one certainly took the cake (and smeared it all over its body and said, "Oooh, what a lovely tea party!").

Has anybody else faced a set of multiple instant DS occurrences before?

First and foremost on the subject of tiers people/players should not refrain from changing they're tier lists. As games develop further and adjustments and balance changes take place tiers change but also "players" should be open to the idea that changing they're tier list chart or rating is not something to be looked down at all.
"What may be true today may not be true tomorrow" and with that said this is my "Killer" Tier List (Rank 1)

    SS: Nurse, Hillbilly
    S: The Spirit, Hag
A+ The Shape, Huntress, Clown, Pig
    A: Doctor, Wraith
    B+ Trapper, Cannibal
    B: Freddy

I base this off of the technical aspects (they're ability map presence etc) but also base it off of a 10 game set. The more survivors a killer can down within ten games ( full games with 40 survivors in total) the better they are to the rest.
Every killer has to the potential to kill at least one survivor although all survivors escaping at times is not uncommon. This is what i feel the tier list is right and i'll explain why another time but what are killer mains tiers currently?

    Thats my tier list:

    S+: Nurse
    S: Hillbilly
    A Myers, The Spirit, Hag
    B: Doctor, Wraith, Clown, Huntress
    C Trapper, Cannibal, Pig
    LUL: Freddy

Hard to rate spirit because noone plays her anymore. I think the new changes made her a lot better and put her above clown/huntress, but hard to tell without actually playing vs her in the game, but no way that she competes on the same lvl of billy/nurse as so many others claim.

I mained Spirit to rank 1 and she's really good once you get to know ehre and a lot of rank 1-2 killers play her to great effect. The qol changes she got made a huge difference and the pallet changes as well and I'm even seeing a lot of good Myers there as well.

Some good Pigs and Doctors and Trappers a well due to the pallet changes really helping them, but certain maps/killers do better of course. Ahem Doctor/Gideons anyone?

You can play exclusively fredddy to rank 1 too, thats how much rank 1 means at the moment.

No doubt, spirit is above average, but she is nowhere close to nurse or billy.

  • Imagine this:
The looper of the SWF got caught for the third time and knows he is going to die, he concedes, keeps his BP and his teammates even get a reward of 9k BP. Do you see the problem?
Also, assuming that rank will actually mean sth at this point, one member of the SWF can concede to prevent the others from depiping when they have a bad game.

15+ minutes in EU for R1 Killer queues.

It is too easy to rank up on either side.  The event this past month also boosted people to ranks they don’t belong.  The queues for red rank killer have been bad, for quite a while.

Wait till rank reset.  You can for now queue instantly as Survivor, any rank.  Played 12 hours today and waited about 10 seconds to join each lobby.

A lot of survivors derank now to avoid sweaty killers at rank 1. They saw their favourite idol streamers do that with sucess and without getting banned, so they do the same

  • @Mister_xD said:

idk why so many ppl seem to have problems with their queue times, but it seems a little bugged if you ask me...

Waiting 10 minutes for a 5 min genrush game, you see the problem?

Then you can imagine how killers feel when survivors dc and you lose bbq stacks, offerings and addons

Except that isn't how it happens. I play killer more and you do not lose nearly as much than as a survivor and in this case even more so. I guess I can claim WGLF stacks since you're claiming BBQ and like survivors don't use offerings.....

A SWF DCs because you play nurse/doc => 2,5k compensation and you lose everything

  • @Mediva said:
Ok.....so we have camping and we have hook rushers. BBQ was meant as an incentive to go away from hook, and to chase someone that you could see further away. The reality is, that if they dont see 3 other people, they will just stay at the hook.

As a survivor this is annoying. But so are people who farm the people on the hook and do unsave rescues just because they can for points.

So why not change BBQ in that it actually highlights the persons within 10 metres of the hook or so instead of the people far away? If the killer doesnt see anyone highlighted, he knows no one is near and he will have to leave. If he does see someone, i as a survivor dont mind see this person being punished for trying to hook farm the person on the hook.

To me it seems like a fair partly solution to two problems in the game. Off course there will always be campers that would still stand with the hook although no one is there at the moment of the hooking. But at least it would be more incentive to go gen patrolling again. And it would also punish people who hookrush more.

    10 meters is litrally nothing.

Also if you dont see the aura far away from the hook, are you supposed to just leave the hook and serach randomly?

Implement your suggestion and you will see more campers than in the current state

  • Why not make them M4 at all time?
Thats how I do it too

  • @KingB said:
@Master do you even play this game? Perks do cost bloodpoints what are you even saying? Is your argument basically we shouldn't buff WGLF because we will see more items?

Perks cost BP ONCE, the continous BP drain is only cause dby items and addons.

  • @KingB said:
@Master they can spend BP for items regardless of this perk. It just makes the grind easier and I would rather face 4 flashlights than 4 DS's. FD exists, light born exists, looking at a wall while picking someone up exists, making sure no one is around before picking someone up exists.

Perks are somethign you can break into every game, they dont cost any BP.
But what will happen is that you will see more items like flashlights ADDITIONAL to the perks they already use

About Camping. I am all for helping killers experience more fun play styles, but this blood point and emblem drain is NOT the way to do it. When BBQ was added to the game, it was a reason not to camp. A bonus for hooking unique survivors. That was a good thing for everyone. That was the carrot.

When this new killer emblem change came, it punishes killers who are within a certain radius of a hooked survivor. This will certainly lead to survivors abusing this mechanic (as they often do (pallet looping, BT after exits are powered, unreachable areas)). That was the stick.

I don't feel like it is good for a game to use The Stick to prohibit gameplay that one group finds toxic. And do nothing to cater to the views of the other group.
(Killers get punished for prolonged exposure to hooked survivors, but survivors do not receive any penalty for purposefully kiting and pallet looping the killer, which is just as, if not, more toxic than camping!?)

Use The Stick to punish cheaters, exploiters, and harassers.

Use the  Carrot to encourage stimulating gameplay.

Nobody should have to tell you this, BHVR.

ALso, BHVR still hasnt understood that ranking up is actually a punishment. The emblem point punishment is actually a reward for camping.
This game and its weird logic.... sometimes its just pathetic

Most people who camp don't really pay attention to rank. Also can we stop calling it rank? It's MMR. Even if they claim it's rank. It's MMR.

You do realize what MMR stands for?

There are those type of guys that dont care about rank and then there are those that want to derank which is possible by camping now.
I doubt that anyone tries to rank up after he has done his first time rank 1 achievment

  • @Terrortot said:
Problem is crouch is an important function for survivor play.

Devs already stated teabagging is not bannable, which means it stays.

Just ignore them. Dont go to gates and go break some pallets you may have missed, or go afk and do something for a bit.

This is a horror themed, competitive game.  Its about doing x to get x points.  The toxic players arent playing the game, they are playing you. Dont get so tilted over an animation.

Repeatedly crouching is not an important function of gameplay.

Pig cant tbagg properly too for example.

I've done a 4 man gen build before. Everyone runs Leader, Prove Thyself, Resilience, No Mither, then for the item you run an Engineer's toolbox with Socket Swivels and Clean Rag. You can knock out a gen in less than 14 seconds.
