It's probably the projectile speed. His harpoon moves at the same velocity as a fully wound hatchet, so ingrained quickscoping skills aren't that helpful unless you can relearn the timing.
Maybe it IS a good thing I don't play Siege any more...
Yeah. Unfortunately, I have as many hours in Overwatch as many Vets do here in DbD, so my muscle memory makes playing Huntress and Deathslinger a damned chore.

@MadLordJack said:
There is a glaring issue that you have neglected to mention - You absolutely can deny Oni that initial hit, and is in fact how many of my Oni matches go.
All the survivors need to do, as with any other m1 killer, is drop pallets. In the majority of maps, even if they don't get the stun, they can make it to another pallet in the time it takes you to cirlce around and chase. No matter what, the Oni will get that first hit... But how much time will it cost?
I also want to say that who you find fun is just preference. I prefer Deathslinger to all of the other killers you mentioned, and I don't even play shooters.
I'm just the opposite. I do play something of a shooter, Overwatch. But my damage mains over there are hitscan (Soldier 76, McCree, and Ashe).
For the life of me, I cannot quick scope and hit crap in this game with Deathslinger (or Huntress). I don't know if it's the fact that he's akin to projectile, or what. In Overwatch, I have a hard time with projectile heroes like Hanzo, Genji, and Pharah, too. And have since the day it launched in 2016.
(Though do main Zenyatta and do beast with him for some odd reason.)

Exactly buddy, I know you see my points very clearly.
When we started playing killer, I think that everybody did that mistake. Chasing cocky survivors, and letting others do gens.
But if you chase the ones that are bad at looping it's so huge because you are getting them nervous, making more mistakes...etc.
There are some people who just know how to be sneaky and click M1. If you get them, they are usually free downs.
Yes. And that keeps your pressure on as they inevitably go for the saves and heals. And they're going to heal, because that non-looper sure as hell doesn't want to remain one hit away from another hook.

This is what is absurd with this game.
Pretty much the way I unlock teachables as survivor is to play Clown with BBQ & Distressing, not worry about whether I win or lose.
Players should be able to adequately progress as survivor by playing, duh, survivor!
It shouldn’t be more optimal to just grind as killer.
@MadLordJack said:
Yeah, I get that it's potentially 4× the BP getting used to buy powerful items and add-ons, but at the same time SWF already get more BP just because they can farm in a co-ordinated fashion.
Edit: Bloodpoints, not peanut butter.
And it's actually been a primary turn off of me playing Survivor as much as Killer. It just takes way too many games to get the BP unless you're part of a skilled, coordinated SWF. Meanwhile, that BP I'm using my Killer to earn and dumping into my Survivors also means I am not replenishing add-ons for the Killer. Or, I'm not using add-ons in the first place which can sometimes be boring.
Fortunately, I don't need add-ons for Doc, so he's good for me to Survivor BP farm. Legion is another good one for BP, but I'd be damned before I run him without add-ons.

Actually, it's the other way around.
As killer, if you focus too much on survivors who are a threat, you are just going to lose. You'll waste time looping, and you'll lose gen pressure. That just depicts that the killer doesn't know when you drop a chase.
I always try to chase the weaker survivors first, because they will go down easily, and I'll gain more pressure.
Also, usually if I ignore cocky survivors who are gods at looping, they'll try to get my attention even more, hence, losing gen time. Which is only good for me.
Exactly what I do.
I remember when I was starting as Killer and learning those mind games as I ranked up the first time. I would go after the t-bagging or clicky-clicky survivor every time. And I would be looped to hell and back as their buddies popped the gens.
I learned to let 'em stew. Go after the ones they don't want you going after, there's a reason for it. And almost like clockwork, as you're chasing that weaker link, there they are trying to body-block or flashlight you or whatever to get your attention so you don't down that other one.
That's two not working on gens. I am pleased.
-
@TheClownIsKing said:
You know what I’m sick of?
1000 to 3000bp games because 2 survivors DC at the beginning, and the killer STILL camps the hook of whomever is left at 5 gens still left!!!
An afternoon of a dozen games, and HOORAY, and a grand total of roughly 20,000bp!
Not even enough to clear 1 friggin bloodweb.
FIX THE DAMN GRIND IN THUS GAME PLEASE
I completely agree with you. It's to the point that I just play Survivor to play Survivor and get whatever pitiful BP I can out of it, but run my BP farming Killers like Doc with BBQ + Survivor Pudding or Anniversary Cake to get real BP to dump into my Survivors.
And it shouldn't be like that.

It’s not the fact that I’m mad over a loss. I wasn’t the one who Dc’d. I’m more mad at behavior for making a killer with a stupid mechanic (no offense).
And this brings me back around to what I posted above. Although I've been an author for close to 30 years, I also spent 14 years in the gaming industry in game design. I completely understand why some people at the forums question if the people designing things for this game actually play, never mind understand, the game.
Even if all of the issues with PH's design weren't noticed on paper, there is no excuse for it being missed during the various testing phases. It's obvious how his powers can be used for camping. And to be honest, in particular situations the killer would be stupid to not use the kit for that.
Yet, they missed it. How? I've no clue. But they missed it to the point that they had to make changes after it went live because players camped with it precisely as anyone on the team in that department with an understanding of DbD and the players should have seen long before retail release.
I don't know if it's a lack of understanding of the game, or that corners are being cut in the testing and design phases, but something isn't working as it should be.
(I have the same issue with Overwatch and how some hero designs, such as original Brigette or original Sigma, made it into live.)

Yeah you’re not wrong at all. Being too altruistic can end up getting the killer more kills because It’s happened to me before in killer matches and survivor matches but in THAT MOMENT we wanted to get him out as safe as we could but that method of camping has no counterplay. Had it been another killer definitely could of made a play.
I don't disagree with you. Unfortunately, Pyramid Head's design seems very poorly thought out in terms of players camping with him. I mean hell, they already had to adjust the cages because somehow they failed to see how they would be camped in the first place. And then again with that power.
The game is not new. Camping is not some new thing. How that type of oversight can happen in design and testing boggles my mind.

How do you know it was Killer entitlement and not bait? I had to learn the hard way that sometimes it's not the Killer that outplays you, but the team's altruism. It's nice when you can make it out as a team, but that mentality can very quickly turn a 1K into a 4K.
And it has, too, especially against the purples and some reds I have faced. They had it won, all they had to do was leave. But, they just couldn't stand to leave that one friend behind. And many times, it turned the tables in the EGC. Every time? Of course not. But that has saved my matches from a blowout enough times.

Tell me about it. Not only does Myers need a buff, but the matchmaking ensures that you can be completely outmatched. This was my last match as Myers, and I mean that both literally and figuratively. Usually I don't care how matches turn out, but it doesn't pay to be a new or a casual player of DBD. Until the MMR gets turned back on, I think I'm done playing killer for awhile.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/BVR8HZEW1AE6/img-20200829-232345.jpg
Yep, rank 15-13 was when I started getting that crap, too. Then I got a long string of green and yellow ranks. Enough that I ranked to green, where I got a lot of purples. Finally, I hit purples and started getting greens and yellows again. Damned near ranked into reds with high purple rank, and started getting a ton of 4-reds on teams.
Nope. To hell with that. Put my rank back down. I'll be the first to admit I'm out of my weight class.
Before crossplay, I was high yellow or low green, as I don't play every night and it isn't my main game. Since crossplay, I've shot up the ranks. I could never do it before crossplay, and I left the game for months and didn't return until the day crossplay went live. I am not suddenly purple ranks after five months or so away when I could never do it vs straight PC survivors before that.
We definitely need a functioning MMR system.
-
I don't think it's that great. Let's be honest, unless you're in the low ranks with fairly inexperienced people, a majority of survivors aren't worried about Windows and vault locations when they complete a gen. They're heading down the map to the next gen.
The only way I've had that perk do anything is the rare times when I come right up on a gen just as it completes and they absolutely need to put something between the two of us. But that requires the gen to be close enough to a vault that it matters. And that is extremely rare that such a gen happens to be the one to pop in my face, when they pop in my face at all.
My opinion? Save the shards for something better down the line.
-
I'm like that in a certain way. If I went after them right after the unhook (which is usually greed) and they DS me . . . okay, I asked for it.
But when I see them on a gen, do my job, and still get hit with DS? Okay, time for you to leave. I don't care that it's how BHVR designed it. Take your lack of a pip up with them.
For what is likely an asinine reason, that pisses me off.

For me if you piss me off I'll throw the game then literally walk into the hook and just look at you. Piss me off I'm making sure you don't pip
Oh yes, the hook camp and their de-pip comes immediately after the tunneling. I just wish I could make my head tilt like Myers did after he stuck Bob to the wall. 😁
And since I don't care if I rank up or down, I'm willing to bet any de-pip or safety pip bothers them more than me.

I need to get Corrupt on him. I'm trying, but the Entity is being a real ######### about it. I usually run BBQ right now for the BP since I am trying to blow through these level 50 bloodwebs to get Corrupt to appear. Let me know how Thrilling works out. I haven't run it much since Peanits explained a while back that gen progression is paused while Thrilling is blocking a gen.

I have endgame chat closed and my Steam profile public, so I can't get that type of stuff. My only rule during a game is: I'll play nice until you start acting like a rear-end. Then I'll show you what Laurie felt like in every sequel she was in and tunnel your ass as Myers.

At least bHVR don't have that to worry about.
I agree. I know that game left, right, up, and down, and have hours in that game comparable to many of you Vets here in DbD, and it is abysmal to watch.
DbD's main issue, as far as I'm concerned, is that it desperately needs a larger balance team. There are way too many perks in the game now, with an average of 24 new perks every year. Since this is a perk driven system, far too many perks have been left to rot when they need to be tweaked to be more viable. We should not be stuck with the same Perk Meta for so long.
-
@PigMainClaudette said:

Sadly this is true.
I don't think that DbD is anywhere near the point of Overwatch yet, but it can get there very quickly.
Overwatch also has a different sword over its head: the Overwatch League. You have investors paying 20 million to 60 million a slot, and the League not generating even the low-end return they were sold on. Plus, it's the brainchild of Robert Kotich, the CEO of Activision-Blizzard, and he was personally involved in recruiting investors like Robert Kraft in the beginning. So, Kaplan and team very likely also have to make sure Overwatch is fun to watch for the viewers.
Notice that the DPS nerfs on the most recent Experimental Card didn't happen until the season was over? Wanna bet they get buffs in time for the 2021 season? DPS equals flashy, entertaining plays for viewers.

The "smart" cheaters are much more subtle and don't do it in your face like that. Couple weeks ago I was playing killer chasing a meg. I injured her first, and there's literally no pause and no time for her to heal. At one point she jumped off the temple and dived into the basement, i was like, "Really?" as I went after her she rushed out, fully healed - it didn't register in my head at first until after I struck her on her way back up the stairs.
No white glow (not MOM), no one suddenly became broken (not For the People). I was confused and pressed on the chase and eventually downed her.
I figured it was Anti-Haemorrhagic Syringe just not sure when she used it (she was in the basement less than 16 seconds) but during post game, it showed she only brought a green med-kit with additional charge add-ons.
My only conclusion was that she must've hacked the game, but subtle and not egregious enough that one can't be sure if its reportable.
I'm a PC killer and I'd actually had that happen in three different matches last week. Each time with a PC survivors.
In my cases they were injured in a chase, used the speed burst to get to and drop a pallet, moved out of my sight, and by the time I broke the pallet they were fully healed. Only thing on them were brown or green medkits on the post game screen.
I looked at the screen like #########?

its not as bad as wraith or trapper but it is pretty bad especially with most/half of his addons being hot garbage
At least with Wraith you aren't both add-on dependent and your power availability being in the hands of the survivors if they're good.
For me, so far, GF seems like he has both the downsides of Wraith (and Trapper) with the add-ons, and Plague if the survivors don't heal and are decent at running injured.
Outside of crouch-to-mindgame, I'm not seeing a huge benefit with him over Myers so far. Now granted, I am not a super-skilled Killer. I'm average at best despite getting into purple ranks post crossplay (I should not be in Purple ranks, btw). So, take what I say with a grain or two of salt.

gf has one of the weakest addon sets in the game increasing night shroud recovery helps so chewed pen and night-vision monocular is pretty good depending on your playstyle
Yeah. And one of my main issues with GF is that he is absolutely Night Shroud recovery time add-on dependent. I loathe killers like that. To me, it's a bad design.

I don't care how casual the game is, if I toss a god-damned Holy Hand Grenade into a cluster of worms I expect it to blow up a few worms, not make a bang sound and sit there grinning like an idiot.

They want to make tank "more appealing" but are also like f*ck barriers! That said though, as Orisa I could hold off an entire team with my Mercy main playing healer next to me.
But yeah, you know how Mercy got treated? Kinda relatable as a Pig main. Not quite that bad, but getting there.
Kaplan also said that with OW2 he wants to take Overwatch less "moba" and more "FPS."
The issue I have is that the "Moba" elements sold the game for a lot of folks. The market is flooded with FPS with powers. I could go play Apex Legends or Valorant or Hyper Scape or Rogue Company, or even several other options.
The core issue is, he stated that he considers Hog to be the benchmark for where he would like tanks to go. So . . . DPS with inflated HP pools?
What is the development vision for Overwatch anymore? Ironically, it's the same question we're now asking of DbD, too.

I have triple-digit hours on Junkrat and Lucio.
But right now my mains are . . .
Damage: Soldier 76, Ashe
Support: Zenyatta, Lucio (Moira is my back-up)
Tank: Zarya, Winston (Rein is my back-up)
I did main D.Va. Got screwed. Mained Orisa, got screwed. Mained Sigma, got screwed. Mained Soldier 76 (still do, but he's been left behind there like my Myers has here). Mained Mercy (Blizzard can kindly F* off, now).
Although I could flex to any role, I preferred Support and Tank. You know, the two roles Blizzard bends over and pelvic thrusts the most. Billy and Nurse mains got nothing on the screw jobs Tanks and Supports take over there. 🤣

Seriously though the only strat I found the thing that worked was running pop and endfury, but at that point I'm getting carried by the fun and interactive perks and not really using Myers' power because it's so underwhelming, and it's also a build I guarantee would be even better on GhostFace. I used to main Myers but Jesus it's been so long since he's had something interesting added to him that he's become so stale to me.
I get it, trust me. The disconnect so far with me and GF is playstyle. He's more of a take your time and stalk type of killer. And hope you don't get pulled out of it and go on cooldown. Whereas Myers can stalk and be aggressive at the same time.
Myers just fits my aggressive playstyle much better. I find myself struggling way too much to get the lean angles to stalk efficiently with GF.
If I could get into the GF playstyle, I'd play him more.

So far ts been David and Kate. No survivor unlocks yet, haven't invested the blood points.
Yeah, looping is a skill I've yet to develop. 🤣
