I've been stuck 3x as Oni now and 2x as Wraith. All while trying to help a survivor. Meanwhile, gens keep popping.
Yeah, sorry, but for the next few days until the fix on Tuesday, survivors are on their own with that damned hill.
I haven't been stuck anywhere else on any map, though. Sorry.

At some point they're gonna have to ease up a little if they want the lifespan of this game to last longer
I don't know what they want. Originally, they expected the game to last five years, per Matt Cote on a stream he did back then. Then they had plans for two years beyond that, which was seven years total. Now it's: Into the future.
At this point, I think their general plan is: as long as the base game keeps being bought on the sale-after-sale that we always run, and people buy DLCs, we'll keep chugging out Rifts, Cosmetics, and DLCs.
I often times wonder if they have real, long-term plans. Maybe it was for Deathgarden to be their next big thing, but that failed twice.

Actually, I just did legit tag him. If the OP is going to forum police like this, let's have the Devs step in with their opinion on it. After all, the tags left and right affect them, and even I've tagged them in stuff here and there. If it's an issue, we should be told.

Well, because the PTB was absolutely useless with an outdated build of the killer, I won't be buying him on Tuesday regardless. I played that PTB version. It was a wreck.
Now, I'll have to see him in actual, retail-version play and then decide.

I wouldn't buff anything, people need to stop being selfish and start playing as a team, that's it
Good luck with that. Even in Overwatch, a blatant team vs team game where team composition, synergy, and working together is vital, people play like it's CoD and rarely as a team. Hell, you can't get even a mere three random people to work together as a squad in Apex.

This ^
Thank you.
I’m tired of “nErF nOeD!!” threads when currently even if the killer deliberately or inadvertently gives the survivors all the time they need to find and cleanse totems, they still don’t anyway.
A couple weeks ago, just to try it out, I played Insidious Basement Chest Bubba with NOED for four hours straight. This was boring as hell by the way. I wanted to see how NOED performed (I don't usually run it) after a thread complaining about an AFK Wraith that suddenly 4k'ed all of them with NOED at the end.
NOED activated 100% of the time. I stayed in the basement with Bitter Murmur, Insidious, NOED, and Iron Grasp until four gens popped. Timed when the last gen should get about done and left the basement right before. Smacked them with NOED.
Most games were a 3k, with a majority being 2k. A minority were 1k or 4k. Zero were 0k.
Played Hawkins as Survivor yesterday against a Billy. He proxy camped each hook and let the gens fly. I could tell my teammates just thought him a camper or inexperienced, but I had my suspicions. He has one on hook as the last gen pops, and there goes NOED's activation.
I had no clue where the totem was, and saw my other two randoms trying to get to the hook from different directions. In a Hawkins hallway.
Have fun with that. I got out the gates. Spectated the last few seconds, and they handed him a 3k.

Somehow I thought it was disabled on the 13th but then was re-enabled days later as I did encounter a lot more noob survivors(noob in terms of behavior, not rank) in my killer gameplays whenever I switched to a killer I've rarely played before (except this time with Bubba)....I was delutional...
Yeah, that was just luck of the draw with the matchmaker, honestly.

Went against BOTH a Bubba & Billy on separate games running...
- BBQ.
- Infectious Fright.
- Iron Maiden.
- Distressing.
So because me and other survivors didn’t have Calm Spirit it meant that...
- couldn’t hide in a locker to avoid detection upon a down.
- couldn’t stay within the 40m range to avoid detection.
Some survivors will just never be amazing at chases. I’m not. Builds like this, it’s no wonder survivors suicide first hook. It’s what I did upon the 2nd game of this. It’s pointless to continue if only a few seconds of repair can get done before the killer is on your tail and downing you again.
Ugh...
You'd hate one of my Doc builds. BBQ, Distressing, Infectious Fright, and Overcharge. Add-ons: Enhanced distance on shock and larger terror radius when Static Blast is fully charged. Offering: either Survivor Pudding or 75% or 100% BP for Deviousness.
Then I get people to Tier 3 as much as possible.
It seems not as many people run Calm Spirit as I would have assumed.

That makes no sense
But it does, at least for me.
I love playing as Michael Myers and getting the jump scares. I love playing as silent bell Wraith and doing the same. I love being Doc and getting people to madness tier 3. I love the feeling of being Leatherface.
But at the same time, the game is not good. I get my power bugged as Oni and can't use it. There are odd matches where Ghostface and Myers still have the stalking bug. Hits and grabs are still a mess, especially between platforms. The ######### hill bug is still happening in too many matches, and has been for a month, and the fix is still a week away. If, that is, the fix actually works. Matchmaking is a complete wreck because rank means little except time-played. And never mind that de-ranking is so damned easy that rank doesn't necessarily indicate time-played, either.
Just because some of us love the game and can find fun in it, doesn't mean we also feel it is necessarily a "good game." It's too bug-ridden with new bugs added before they even get a grip on previous bugs. And some killers like Oni or Nurse still haven't been fixed.
New DLC and big patch on Tuesday of next week. How many new bugs with that one? I'm a bit afraid to know the answer.
And yes, every game has bugs. But some games have a bit more than others, and when a Dev team is so slow with fixes, it makes some of us feel that, even though we enjoy the game, it is held back from being a good game.

Oh ! it's disabled...again?
MMR was disabled around the time crossplay went live, so since August 12th or 13th. We've been back to the original, also broken, rank-as-matchmaker since then.
No word on when MMR will return. It was disabled because it wasn't working as they intended and needed serious adjustments.

Have you seen those totem spawns that i posted? Only blind person wouldn't see it.
Well, to be fair, I did have a Ruin spawn in the open that a few nights ago on GF (Ruin/Surveillance combo). A rank 10 Claudette found it and I had to get her out of the match quickly before she cleansed it.
Thankfully, they weren't SWF on comms, because the other three never found it, and there was even a generator in the general area. Post game, I saw that they were ranks 15, 13, 13.
So, @shalo has a point. 🤣

Actually they did on the new and reworked maps. They need to rework the old ones or just make graphic update and change totem spots.
Yes, it takes an entire map rework. We know that, but their speed at reworking maps is sloooooow, thus my lack of hope.
-
Unfortunately, they've tried it several times and each time it hasn't worked. I've given up on hoping.

I'm a huge Trapper fan... yeah, I know he's basically Claudette in a mask as far as being an effective killer on some maps, but I enjoy his playstyle. And nothing quite beats the feeling of a survivor falling into one of your cleverly placed traps. It isn't always about getting a 3-4 kill.
Exactly. Kills and pips simply don't matter to me. I like to play scratched mirror Myers just for the jump-scares it lets me do. Same with silent bell Wraith. Heck, as Leatherface if I could 4k I sometimes let the last one escape and force a tantrum or spin around as the chainsaw swings, just because that's typically how his films end.
-
@Jyn_Mojito said:
I love the random jump scares the most- the first time I finished a gen and turned around, only to have a Myers inches away and staring at me silently- I had to change my pants.
Also the Lore, I love slowly unraveling bits and pieces of backstory.
I played jump-scare Myers for multiple matches in a row the other night. I'm fairly certain a few survivors had to change pants afterward. The funniest one was when a survivor rounded a wall, I was standing right there thanks to seeing their aura with scratched mirror, and they immediately started making a ton of janky moves like I scared the hell out of the player as they saw me and "The Chase" music hit 😂
It is sooooo satisfying when that happens with my Myers. Makes me feel like Myers. I don't even care about hooks or kills with scratched mirror. I just want the jump-scares.
It's like when I play Leatherface. I never 4k. I always let the final one escape and then force a tantrum or spin in place at the gates with the chainsaw swinging. That's what happens to him in the films. 😁
That's the kind of stuff that brings me fun in the game. I don't worry too much about how many escaped or pips.

Based on Devotion level, and since we don't know where they've put the BP over their play time, this does not mean a hack. It is 100% doable if they dump regular BP into Hag.

It's just as bad when your teammates first-hook suicide the first two minutes into the game. Had that happen yesterday. Luckily the Clown was nice enough to farm with us. He'd hit us, we'd heal. He'd hook us, we'd unhook. Then he led us to gens, and we'd let them kick them. I've done that as killer before. Caught this Meg in a locker. Cheryl tried to sabo the hook. I hit her. She didn't run away. I hit her again. I hooked Meg, then hooked Cheryl. They both killed themselves on the hook. I felt bad for the other two, so I growled to let them know I was down to farm. They understood I wasn't going to try to kill them, and wound up with a safety pip instead of depipping.
I didn't play last night, but the night before I had survivors DC four matches in a row. Each time because they were so damned easy to find and down before the first Gen was done.
I ended up making them farming matches (the survivors went along with it) for the BP and the remainders thanked me at the exit gates.
When DC penalties were in place, it would just be a first hook suicide. So, nothing really changed except I got the sacrifice points. It still blew that match for everyone.

Yeah, I took it as a joke. But . . .🤪 . . . yeah.
It's not that I do poorly with Plague, it's that she absolutely sucks at BP generation. I wasn't playing much during the event because it was pre-crossplay and my PC killer queues were still lobby simulators. But next time an offering like that comes around, I'm only playing Doc to get them and banking them on him. Now that's a BP flow.

I'm honestly curious what's gonna happen if they decide to rework prestige to afftect all clothing. It's obviously possible since Plague's sickness effect does basically the same thing in green. Gonna be a fair amount of salty people complaining that they chose not to prestige but they still want the reward from it now, especially if it's like what was in the PTB with blood appearing only during the game, so you don't get lobby dodged for it.
"I don't like grinding" - Person playing one of the grindiest games there is, 2020.
Very true, and I hate the grind. But then again, when I fire-up DbD it's just to run around as Myers or one of the other icons. Nothing big. I don't play it to hit Rank 1 or any of that sort of PvP competitiveness. Heck, I have Overwatch for that.
Way I see it, if they all escape from my Myers, 'tis fine. He got his ass handed to him in Halloween 2018, too. 🤣

Did you see how people typed in chat before crossplay? A majority of them couldn't write to begin with. 😂

I like the grinding fixed like selling add on item offering back
for the most part don't mind p3 of characters give me something to do but it needs something like I said above.
I see people say a lot at these forums that the grind gives them something to do, gives them a reason to keep playing, etc.
I see that as a major design problem with DbD as a PvP game. A PvP game should not have to rely on a grind to keep people engaged and playing.
I've been in Overwatch since its beta, as an example. Overwatch has zero grind. A hero is a hero, their kit is their kit, and the draw is learning the heroes and getting very good with them. Your skill versus your opponents'. It's kept me around for 4+ years.
In Paladins, it was experimenting with the card loadouts for my characters and discovering different strengths, weaknesses, and playstyles (I loved my Healing build Skye, for example, who is actually a Flanker role character, not a Healer, by default).
DbD should be about the PvP and the perk builds that can be done. But what I feel like I see more often is: well, the grind keeps me going. That's okay for an MMO or something like Borderlands, but it's very telling about a PvP game's design if the grind is the keeper.
-
I'll be honest: I bought it and play it because I get to play my favorite horror icons of Myers, Freddy, and Leatherface, with some Amanda and Ghostface tossed in.
I followed the game in development and beta, and in the end chose Overwatch in 2016. If it wasn't for Myers & Friends, I probably would not have bought the game; and if I did anyway, I'm certain I wouldn't have played it beyond maybe a month.
Am I saying it's a bad game? Not at all. But asymmetrical games really aren't my thing for PvP. I only have DbD (and F13) for the ability to play as those slasher icons. It isn't something I take seriously or competitively. Heck, they could add a bots mode like DbD Mobile or F13 has, and I would be fine just messing around in there.
-
@Mikeasaurus said:
Personally, I won't prestige at this point just to repeat a grind for a perk that may not appear for 100 Bloodwebs. The skins are just meh imo. Nothing flashy, and the increase in rarer items doesn't really appeal to me. I'm happy with what I get now really since I rarely use the higher add-ons anyways
Pretty much this. I hate the grind in this game in the first place to get the various builds I want to run, or try out, on my favorite killers. I've zero interest in redoing the grind on the same Killer just for a bloody skin or more high-end add-ons.
If I've done the grind and gotten the perks on a killer I enjoy, now I'm going to do what I prefer to do: run different builds and try out different things across various maps to see what works or doesn't work for me, and what's fun and isn't fun for me. The DbD grind is what I have to slog through to get to this point.
Grinds don't keep me playing a game, and never have. If they did, I wouldn't have jumped between so many different MMOs over the course of 20 years of playing them.

Yeah the fps games I play, the level of irritated i get is dictated by my general skill in the game, so in CoD or R6 I'm not that good so it is cool. But Apex, ohh Apex, yeah that gets me.
I played Apex solo during its first six months of release. Nope, nope, nope. I thought the general Overwatch population has poor game sense? Ha! I had to uninstall Apex. Solo there is almost the hell of Solo Survivor here.
Now, don't get me wrong. I've been in Overwatch since late beta, but I am no top player. I'm about to hit 48 years old, and when it comes to twitch-reflexes, my best days are long behind me. I main Tank and Support over there for a reason. Though I can play DPS and can main Soldier 76 or Ashe in Plat rank when I played competitive, I'm well aware that I will not hit Masters or above . . . ever.
But when my random teammates with hundreds of account levels play so poorly that they make me look like a GM player? Good grief.
I had to step away from that game for a few months. Nowadays, I only play if the Friends & Family group is on, and stay the hell out of Ranked. We just relax in Quick Play, Quick Play Classic, and Mystery Heroes anymore.

I don't play toxic in dbd but I am one of those people in fps games that 7/10 times will get pissed upon death and maybe 1/10 in dbd
The fps part is largely due to the fact that gaming is what I spend most of my time doing, thus why I am very competitive about those kinds of games.
I understand that.
For me, DbD has no clear and concise win-loss indicator, so I take this game extremely casually. They all escaped but the match went long enough with enough chases and destruction that I got a decent amount of BP? Cool, good game.
But in Overwatch, when I see DEFEAT after defeat because my teammates feed enemy ults, can't track enemy ult charges, don't know how to turn their camera, and pick someone like McCree but couldn't hit someone five feet in front of them emoting? Yeah, I get a bit irritated.

Who knows? You know as much as any of us: i.e., that an article said it and quoted Cote.
I mean, Cote could straight up say it in the next Dev stream, but until we see what DbD is like on next-gen, none of us know if it's actually true and happening like that or not.
But until we see the actual proof with the next-gen console and DbD in play, at this point I'd take anything BHVR says about DbD Console with a heavy grain of salt.

Exactly.
When Felix gets released and I want to start experimenting with his perks in particular loadouts on my preferred survivors, I’ve got to go through a minimum of 40 bloodwebs on Felix, then god knows how many on my preferred survivors before they show up in their bloodwebs.
It’s ludicrous with the abysmal amount of points survivors earn.
I'm going to be honest: Starting with the Blight DLC, I've given up getting them or the perks unlocked. My bloodwebs are already RNG hell due to all the teachables already unlocked to the point that I am an easy 20 bloodwebs into my Level 50 Myers and still can't find Corrupt for him.
Unless the perks are absolutely godly and are guaranteed meta-shaking (or a horror icon I love, such as Jason or the Tall Man), I'm not effing bothering anymore. Between 16 DLCs and the general perk pool, I'm over this RNG bullshit on character after character.
I never Prestige a character. Bloody cosmetics are not worth doing it all over again.

Yeah like you I don't play this game every night, so I'm a casual player of DBD at best. But every time I play a killer match, my rank 13 constantly goes up against survivors that are far outside my skill level. And I threw in the towel that night when I played against two rank 1 and a rank 5 in a single match.
I don't know if the MMR will ever return, but I hope it does, because this matchmaking is making many players like myself turn away from killer altogether.
Supposedly, it is slated to return. When? No clue and no word. For all we know it could be next week, in 2021, in 2022, or never because they can't get it to work right.
Personally, between all the variables in DbD, I'm not sure how they'll get it to work right. What does it weigh? Kills? Escapes? What about a Mori or a key? What about certain add-ons? DbD is not like, say, Overwatch where what a hero within a specific role is supposed to do is easier to track.

No, because I want to have more freedom to experiment with builds. Won’t get boring because the perk combinations become almost endless.
I agree with @TheClownIsKing. A core of DbD's game design is perk builds. The grind is boring as all hell, especially in a PvP game. I want to experiment with builds, discover different perk synergies besides just the same old meta builds. It was actually a selling point with Paladins back when I played. All the cards were unlocked for every character out of the gate. They started at Level 1 and went to Level 5, and you had 15 points to spend between the 5 cards in the loadout.
Out of the gate, I could start playing around and experimenting with builds and tryout different playstyles with each character. The lack of a grind didn't cause me to stop playing Paladins. It was the constant onslaught of bugs and server issues (sound familiar?) as well as the Battlepass Challenges that ended up ruining the quality of too many matches (hmm, that also sounds familiar).
Having a grind for the cards would not have kept me. Matter of fact, when they tried that in beta with OB64, it drove me away until it was changed to what it went "Live" with.
The grind in DbD is completely asinine, and actually one of the turn-offs for me. If it wasn't for the fact that I can play Michael Myers, I doubt I would have stayed with the game past the first week because of the grind.
If I wanted to grind to build my character, I could go back to playing any MMO.
