Maybe. Between dailies to turn in, the 1.5 million he's sitting on due to not spending when the freebies were given that put you above cap, and all the Challenges he's going to turn in, Otz is sitting on millions of BP by his count and going P3 live on stream tomorrow.
So, it's a race between you two, for sure.

Which is why I worry that their attitude will be to just abandon the dc penalty all together. As I said it's the thing that's improved the health of the game the most. Sad if it goes by the wayside.
I've already considered that a possibility. But they haven't said anything on the topic and I have no inside information, so can only say that I share the concern.

Hopefully they decide to start from the ground up because it's worth it. Disconnects completely ruin a match and they are going to have long term problems if this continues. Doesn't matter how pretty they make this game if it becomes unplayable because of the community.
I have no idea what they're planning on with that. But they're a relatively small team for a game of this size, and are already working on fixing MMR and getting the Early Game Slowdown from the anniversary announcement done, not to mention the future DLCs they're already coding. Plus they were supposedly working on the Bots as well.
So, no clue whether or not they have the manpower to redo a DC penalty system, too. Time will tell.
Plus, I believe they're still working from home.

Seriously, I am still getting matched against and with people who have WAY MORE SKILL THAN I DO. I'm 300 hours into this game and I'm going against people with 2000 hours +. I'm getting steamed rolled in all my games.
Could you please make this game more new player friendly. Good god, I'm not enjoying this at all and I'm regretting spending any money on this game.
Frustrating.
This is how the old rank-as-matchmaker pretty much always worked. And since the MMR system was disabled because it wasn't working as they intended, we got put back into the rank-as-matchmaker. So, here we are . . . again.

Well that's just great! Hopefully the dc penalty doesn't go the way of matchmaking and become a feature that's supposedly in place but doesn't actually do anything. The penalty was by far the single thing that improved the health of this game the most in the 15 months I've been playing.
Well, the issue is that the hackers have already been into it multiple times. So, unless they scrap the current thing entirely and code a new system from the ground-up, we're going to be going round-and-round this bush for some time to come.
Or, since they talked about a Bot taking over for a DC'er like DbD Mobile does, hope that feature is far enough along to be "soon."

Technically, if you're not on a competitive team, all of your time playing this game is "time wasted".
I was thinking the same thing. Unless we are getting paid to play the game, or even make a living streaming games, any video game we play is "time wasted" that could be used to do many productive things with our time.

I play on pc and don't ever dc. I know they enacted a dc penalty for pc players a bit ago and it put an end to a period of completely out of hand dc's. Did they get rid of this penalty? Does it not exist on consoles? Do people on consoles not care since their issue is apparently the extremely poor quality of the game (which why are you playing if it's so unplayable)? Do they not care because they think it's unfair they have to face pc players (I've also heard this argument)?
I'm just trying to understand the explosion in dc's. I play on pc and it's almost always someone on crossplay. I'm not trying to single out console players and I'm sure the ones that do this are a small percentage and are just being poor sports. It's just frustrating that in AT LEAST 50% of the matches I play there are one or two dc's. This is across the board, playing killer and survivor. This problem had almost disappeared but now it's back to ruining matches and affecting the overall health of the game.
No. It was there. Then hackers got into it and gave Streamers like Tru3 massive bans.
They pulled it to plug the hole, and put it back out.
Then hackers got into it again and gave Streamers like Tru3 massive bans.
They pulled it to plug the hole, and put it back out.
Then Hackers got into it again, and this time hit Puppers and someone else.
They pulled it to plug the hole, and haven't put it back out yet.
But you see the recurring theme here. When they do put it back out, give the hackers a week, maybe two weeks, and it'll be pulled again.

I just think it's unfair to get camped and depip for it no matter how long you were being chased for. I ran a killer for 3 gens and depipped this one match like at least just give me 0 pips (And yes I know rank doesn't mean anything I just like seeing a "better" number so I feel like I've done something).
Oh, I complete agree with you. I was just responding to what you'd written that the Devs said it wasn't and was allowed.
Being camped sucks, and camping is boring to do. Honestly, I'd rather just play and chase and take the loss as Killer than just stand there at a hook.

You're welcome, there are certainly better builds but I like this one. If you like, you can swap out STBFL with Make Your Choice if you remember to drop your chase and go look for the unhooker, wraith can get the down easier than other killers because of his stealth. I just don't run it because I never remember to drop my chase and go for the person that unhooked.
Yeah, I'm fairly bad at that myself. That, and for some reason since crossplay, I can't get far enough away for MYC to proc before some idiot goes for a rapid unhook. Though I might finally be able to with Windstorm. π€£

Camping just means someone can't play which is arguably taking the game hostage (which is against the rules so there).
With which the Devs, themselves, have disagreed. According to them, it is a viable tactic and allowed. And before you go off on some internet rant against me, I personally find it a piss-poor tactic. But it is not keeping the game hostage and is allowed, per BHVR.

Kill rate is greater than 50%. Statistically speaking, it is.

80% of players are survivors. Most people stick to survivor and the very few that do play killer don't play killer at a high enough level to experience how oppressive good survivors are.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1601846#Comment_1601846
Kill rate is so high because the game is very easy for survivor, so you get many survivors in ranks they don't belong because they've essentially been carried by their teams to that rank. True kill rate is more in line with what happened in Hexy's tournament, as those are very high level players.
This game is extremely unbalanced, so you get snowballs in either direction within the first few minutes of the game, barring very bad mistakes during the rest of the game. Even a SWF of 2 players means they can coordinate perks, they know which perks each one has, and they have someone they can trust to take protection hits if need be or if they need to stay on the hook for a bit they know the other person won't just suicide and they can make plays based off of that trust that increases the efficiency of the team to a level that helps snowball the other 2 survivors as well, or at least guarantees a non 4k.
Being a mediocre survivor playing high ranks, I can vastly increase my survival rate by running perks like BT and making team plays just by myself, if I was better or if I had someone to team with, I'd easily have over 80% survival rate, as I have about a 60% survival rate as solo in red ranks. Kill rates just illuminate how bad the average survivor is at red ranks, it doesn't show anything about game balance. It is unfortunate that the devs rely on those numbers instead of being able to play their game at a high level to see what can be abused and exploited, or at least seek the advice of players that offer them legitimate criticism.
They also admitted that they count DC as kills because if they DC'ed they must have considered the game a loss anyway.
Which is flawed, because many suicide on first hook or DC at first down simply out of idiotic raging, whereas had they remained in the match and not screwed over the other three, they might have turned it around and more escaped.
That kill rate data is flawed to hell and back.

800 DPI is simply what I'm used to for Overwatch, though over there my in-game sensitivity for Heroes like Soldier 76 and McCree is 8.00 which allows me to track fast moving things like Genji and Tracer with precision.
The 35% here gives me about the same camera movement and control.

A party game can be "competitive" since you're going against other players. Hell, Mario Cart is competitive in that sense. Friday the 13th: The Game is competitive in that sense. Even any game inside Roblox is competitive in that sense.
When a lot of people use the term "competitive" nowadays on the internet, what they actually seem to be referring to is "e-sports."
In that sense, DbD is about as far away from "competitive" as a PvP game can get through the sheer design choices that Devs made and the massive RNG influence in a match. Despite however many little tournaments they want to hold, DbD is not anywhere near a serious e-sports game.

I mean I can get a 4k, but because a survivor kills themselves too early, or I'm using a killer who has one shots. I might not pip as a killer. Pipping honestly shouldn't be taken into account at all imo.
Also in my view you shouldn't really pip as a killer for getting a 2k. Pipping should be reserved for when you do dominate and do exceptionally well. That's if the pipping system actually did it's job and worked correctly, which it doesn't. As it's a draw. A lot of ranking systems with draws barely have you go up, but you don't go down. Survivors it's way easier to pip than killer. Unless the killer sucks and you escape and sometimes de-pip, or just black pip because you just did objectives and left. Not really the survivors fault that they never got chased, and never got to unhook anyone because the killer couldn't catch the survivor, or was afk in the basement.
Long story short, using pip system to base off wins is really faulty in my views. Ideally if you 2 hooked everyone, everyone in the whole match should pip or black pip at worst. Due to how long the game went on and how many chases/unhooks were made. The did you kill 3+ or did you 3+ escape should really determine victory. With 2 being balanced and a draw. No individual survivor actually thinks they can 1v1 a killer by doing all of the gens and escaping the game all by their selves. If they say they can they are trolling. They know it's a team game that survivors play.
Precisely. I agree with that. The pipping system, itself, does not reflect the Devs' stance that a 2k/2 escape is a balanced match ending in a draw.
As is typical here, the in-game system design does not reflect what they state. Using Pips as an indicator is simply flawed right now.

As someone who's done various sword training for 20+ years, the underhanded swing, which is typically weaker on a long sword, makes sense for the mere injury he gives them. Though I agree from an aesthetic sense, it is very underwhelming when you have a huge supernatural fellow wielding a huge fantasy sword.

I hear ya fellow 40s-ish. I pay for a private server in DayZ just so I avoid the PvP aspect of it. There are very few shooters I play.
Yeah, my kids, back when they were kids (three are adults, but the final is 10) played a lot of Xbox shooters like Halo and such. I never got into them. I was always an MMO player. Naturally, WoW after starting in EQ1 and then SWG, but my main was City of Heroes. I didn't actually start playing any type of shooter until my eldest got me Overwatch as an early Fathers Day gift in 2016 on its launch day because the Friends & Family group wanted me to play (he pre-ordered my copy, apparently, so I would get the Widowmaker Noire skin).
Been there ever since, and although I messed around in Paladins and Realm Royale, outside of Borderlands 2, Overwatch is it for me and shooters.
Right now, I pretty much play Overwatch and DbD for PvP. I still mess around in City of Heroes thanks to the City of Heroes: Homecoming servers.
My 10-year-old plays a variety of games. He does a little DbD on Xbox, and liked Grounded, and lately has been playing We Happy Few. He does play Overwatch on PC. He's got to low Plat in Comp with his friends. I was laughing so hard.
It was my youngest that convinced me to buy DbD in 2018 when he messed around with it via Steam. He said: Hey, Dad. They have Michael Myers.
My wallet flew open. π€£

In my eyes, dbd has no esports potential in its current state and I am part of the generation who could see the first esportlers rising to the scene it is today. I have even talk and play in fun/friendly matches against some in Starcraft: Broodwar back in the good old days.
Dbd would need to be balanced for a good esports expierence and that outside of perks and dbd is so far away from this goal, like we are from the andromeda galaxy.
Also I am not sure how much the later audience of "esports-dbd" would enjoy the m1 gameplay that is mostly shown by survivors and killers in dbd.
The killers would need to be much more different as they are today imo and the objectives of the survivors should be made a bit more intersting and challenging.
Also I am not sure how the existing dbd players would accept a esports path. I can understand that it sounds for some people thrilling if they think about it, but in the praxis it would mean that more and more things would be patched out that are currently op and that means, that no player would be able to blame something op for his failure in a match.
Sounds maybe like nothing important, but believe me, some people can really go in a rage mode by this.
Also it would mean a mm that only puts people together with the same skillset. By reading the mm threads in this forum one can come to the opinion, that not everybody would like that.
I know my posting is pretty dark, but alone the idea... Just no^^.
I agree. And I am part of the player base that would uninstall this game in an instant. I came to DbD as a means of getting away from Overwatch when it gets to be too much, since the goddamned Overwatch League and Blizzard's need to balance around "what looks good to watch," has pretty much flushed any real sense of balance in that game down the toilet.
Overwatch taught me that I will never again touch a PvP game with an integrated e-sports scene.
I'm almost 48 years old, and before 2016 pretty much only PvP'ed in MMOs, which I played since EQ1 launched. I didn't play shooters until Overwatch, and although knew of the Starcraft e-sport scene, didn't care to follow it. And even back in the day when I played Starcraft (I started with Blizzard games in 1994 with Warcraft 1), I avoided the PvP in it.

PC vs Console has been around for a while and isn't going anywhere. It's nothing more than an asinine, childish e-peen contest. What does it matter what random internet people or some Streamers think? Do the players know they're good? Then that's all that matters.
For the life of me, I don't understand why people put so much stock into what complete strangers hiding behind a screen think of them.

I used to be, trust me. Many years ago in games. I turn 48 years old on Christmas, and nowadays I just don't care that much anymore.
Don't get me wrong, I like to win, but a loss doesn't tilt me. On to the next game, or just call it a bad night for PvP gaming and go do one of my other entertainment options.
Hell, I played Survivor tonight just to take a break from Killer. Five matches: Two with Ebonies and all five with NOED. Whatever. Whether it's PvP or MMO raiding, my days of sweating in a video game are in the past.

Not only that, but given how things are likely coded in this game, I doubt that changing anything about generators is something they're even willing to entertain thinking about.
If there were going to be any changes, the most likely format would be a secondary objective besides Totems and Chests, which they already tested out in a sense with the Halloween Blight Event in 2018.
Right now, they mentioned in the anniversary stream about an Early Game Slowdown mechanic coming to DbD, but we've no idea what form that might take and whether or not it'll give Survivors something else to do.

Yeah, Overwatch records like your last 12 matches or so (and records over the oldest after that) that we can view in the Replay section on the Career Profile page. Pretty much, if you've seen the Overwatch League broadcasts, we can go in and do that with our matches. Play, rewind, fast-forward, pause, aerial view, first-person view, third-person view, and can watch from the view of any of the 11 other people in our match, too.
They also offer 25 second Highlights for matches, too. And any Play of the Game you get is automatically a Highlight. I'll save those sometimes and post them on social media because my fans enjoy it.
Replays and Highlights are automatically wiped clean whenever there is a game patch.

They do and they don't--rank is meaningless but as people we're hardwired to feel bad when a game demotes us.
I must seriously not have been hardwired that way, then. My rank in DbD doesn't matter to me any more than my SR rank in Overwatch Competitive did.
I'm stuck with a rank number here because BHVR designed only one mode, but I could not care any less if it says 20 or 1. All I care about is if I earned at least 20k BP base. I only play Competitive mode in Overwatch for the different match format as a means to shake it up a little from the Quick Play format.
-
I don't record my games. No interest in it. Which, unfortunately, means I also don't bother filing reports with BHVR. I don't understand why they set things up this way. I can file a report in Overwatch, for example, with no issue as they can access the match data that the report is linked from their end. I've gotten several "Actions" against accounts over there. No idea what the action is, I just received notifications days later that the account had action taken against it.
-
Nope. Last we heard was around the anniversary that they were still in talks with Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo for it.
Even from when Hi-Rez did it for Paladins, Smite, and Realm Royale, I don't see Microsoft and Nintendo being much of an issue. Sony, though, is going to take a lot of convincing. Even with Hi-Rez, it got to the point that they just rolled it out without PS4 having it.
PS4 did eventually get it in Hi-Rez games, but it was like a year later that Sony finally allowed it.
For BHVR, most likely they won't do it until all three allow it, and I'd wager Sony is being the issue.
I also wonder how that applies to things like the A Nightmare on Elm Street license. They don't have the license for Switch. But if someone on Switch and PC links their progression and they have the DLC on their PC account, then Freddy is technically now available for play on the Switch.

I just finished my last survivor match for the evening. I was hooked just as the last generator popped. Got the 4%, opened the gates, and we all escaped. I called it a night after that one because after five matches of two Ebonies and all also having NOED, it was a good note to end on.
That match also had an Anniversary Cake played, so I walked out with close to 50k BP.
This last Killer also had NOED and Haunted Grounds on his build. Didn't help him, though.

I only use them if I have a Daily for it, or if I'm in the mood to see Myers actually stab someone to death like he should, instead of hook, hook, hook, hook.
Other than that, so many of my Killers have a surplus of Ebonies sitting.

Why do we even have it in the game before you go in? I say get rid of it totally.
This would stop a lot of DCs because they don't want to face a mori. Also what is the point of those offerings for the hatch coming up in locations? The killer will see them in the offering a screen.
BH just take out the screen and completely level the playing field for both survs and killers.
Sometimes I'll just toss on a Cypress Mori or a Shroud just to have it secret and see what Survivors do. If they don't DC from the start, they sure do swarm hooks hoping to body-block to let the hooked escape before a Mori.
It's hilarious.

I've noticed that when ever I do get any ebony mori's, its nearly always from the top tier killers like Spirit, Freddy, Oni etc. Rarely do I see the low level killers like Trapper, Legion, Clown, Pig etc bring one in.
I'll never use Clown's. By the time his Mori animation finishes, the other survivors could complete three gens from 0% to 100%. π€£π

They have other games in the works right now, but only time will tell if those will repeat DBD's success or go the way of DeathGarden.
Interesting. Outside of the whole Deathgarden thing, I wasn't aware of that. Granted, I've only followed news for Overwatch 2 (of which there hasn't been any since Blizzcon 2019), Avengers, and Cyberpunk 2077 the past year or so. Thanks for letting me know.
