I feel your pain, brother. Let it all out. SBMM is a hot mess.

nah we need them. The devs and the mods frequent this forum and they need to see these. I’m all for it. I may be typing up mine within the next month or two at the rate things are going with this game. Besides, like others- OP has put up with a lot of B.S in this game so as a paying customer he’s entitled to vent and announce his departure. It’s closure and it’s therapeutic. Let him have that.

Potential chance. Not guaranteed chance.
What people need is to understand that they don't have a set number of chances, and that a potential chance isn't the same as a guaranteed chance. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
I believe most people understand this, and that is EXACTLY why it’s annoying. That’s exactly why I used the word potential. It’s frustrating when an opportunity to have another go at something, is taken away by another player for either preventing it (camping), or failing to do something about it (getting left on hook to die). Most people who would feel some type of way about both (myself included), wouldn’t do that to another player. For example, I don’t camp as killer- and I’m never afraid to go for a save. It’s not fun because you literally don’t play- you feel like your time was wasted just being in that match, when you could’ve been in another lobby actually moving around.
I’m not debating right or wrong, I’m just explaining WHY people don’t care for camping. It has nothing to do with it being a viable strategy for a killer to win (what was what I originally responded to). There are plenty of players like myself who can take losses, and can even “accept” camping when it happens. It just sucks having to deal with it, and wish others wouldn’t do it. I can have 5 games in a row where I wasn’t camped and died in every single game, but still enjoyed playing each one of those matches. Personally I’d rather lose than camp, because I know how it feels. But that’s just me. Again, nothing to do with right or wrong- neither win or lose. Simple case of “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” That’s all.
-
@NOEDENJOYER said:
Be honest with yourselves. You only find camping annoying because its an effective strategy. If it was something that didn't work, no one would complain about it, like tunnelling.
But it does work, so survivors moan and cry about it despite camping being the smart choice in many situations. Such an entitled mindset when you expect the killer to intentionally play in a way which is less beneficial for himself if it doesn't break the rules of the game.
Camping is fine.
That’s not why it’s annoying. It’s annoying because the person on hook gets taken out the game, when they had another potential “chance” at playing. Just like when the killer is nowhere near the hook and cowardly teammates leave you on there to die. That’s all it is. Win or lose, people just want an opportunity to play the match with all their “lives.”
-
Hell no.
-
I’m actually seeing more Trappers now, probably in anticipation. He’s my main when I play killer. Hate going against him, though.
-
Revert ruin and undying. Fixed.

Of course, I was just being facetious.
But hey, maybe their mmr data will get it nerfed, you never know.
Oh, my mistake.
-
Any add-on that gives survivor or killer wall hacks
-
@ThiccBudhha said:
No. Why is it too strong? Because it gives a second chance? How would that be too powerful unless the first chance was overtuned? But since that is not a common belief, I fail to see why so many killers can't deal with an extended chase. It is not that big of a deal.
Because extended chases at high level are usually game over, especially when the other 3 survivors are just as skilled as the current one they’re chasing.
-
I was wondering the same thing yesterday as well…interesting.

Good point.

Just got facecamped by a Wraith who AFKed for 6 minutes to try his NOED/Blood Warden combo - which he got one exposed hit out of,and two hooks. Took me a minute to find the very last totem, and they popped the gens before I actually got it. Thanks to the Elfen Dwight I saved BT-ing me off the hook we all got out, but dang: it sucks to see stuff like that encouraged considering the Wraith's non-participation still netted him nearly double the BP of the survivors - none of whom were able to get enough benevolent or evader emblem points for even bronze.
Killers lose points - to a degree - if no other survivors are around. It's not enough to actually do anything about the problem - it's a bandaid, a patch theatre by which the devs pretend they see and care about the issue. They need to incentivize leaving the hook, on top of punishing those who stay without cause. Carrot and stick.
Barbecue & Make Your Choice give really good incentives to leave hook…idk if these jerks just want to be dicks or if they need to actually do some reading/research on the game.

It’s not survivor sided-it’s SWF sided. The reason why some things get nerfed on the killer side is because ######### is so busted for solo que. Half the stuff helps to compete on a sweaty SWF level, but absolutely destroys us solo ques. That’s why the game will never have true balance. SWF needs to be private only- as in Kill your friends’ private mode. Look at Wraith speed buff. That helps him against SWF yet players say it’s a good start but he needs more. Us solo ques? We hate that #########. It’s ######### busted as hell! We can’t call out who he’s with or where he went or who’s going for the save and who stays on gens. All the time he’s zooming all over the ######### map knocking us down 1 by 1 in succession. I would have preferred him getting nerfed over spirit, cause at least she required skill and didn’t have some half ass lazy fix.
Definintely not solo que sided:
- maps were nerfed smaller than launch (survivors are now constantly unintentionally sandbaggIng each other, yet killers want even smaller maps)
- barrels were nerfed
- breakaway walls with the killer’s decision to end loops or let be and keep dead ends
- fog severely nerfed (how is fog whisperers or “people of the fog” still even a thing now?)
- Indoor maps have a higher probability in the map algorithm now
- Blowing up gens when you abruptly leave them- especially if within killer terror radius (such ######### horse #########. It’s not random. It’s intentional. You don’t even see the skill check. DBD official Twitter even joked about it last year. Smh.) This was NOT in the game for the first 2-3 years.
- less Windows
- less lockers
- more dead zones
- More bad pallets
- more mind gameable 50/50 pallets
- swamp and Lery’s have a bad RNG where 4-5 gens can create a 3 gen within a ridiculous small radius. So ridiculous that both killer and survivor can look at all 3 gens at the same time, and would be able to do the same on Lery’s if It weren’t for the walls. Run Dejavu and/or Visionary to witness the fuckeries.
-
Yea this ######### is getting ridiculous. I believe it was yesterday or the day before TrU3Ta1ent ran into them back to back as well. For him, it was killers hacking. He even said the same thing as you- seems like they are more prevalent in high MMR.
-
You can lose pips, but not grades.
-
I feel your pain, OP. Doesn’t matter if “grade doesn’t reflect skill.” Sure as hell feels like it. Point is, the sucky system forces him to take a lot of losses before “it figures ######### out.” Well, shouldn’t someone who hasn’t played a lot of killer yet be STARTED off at a low MMR first then move him up if he’s winning too much? As opposed to the other way around screwing him over? “Hey paying customer- get stomped and destroyed a few times before we figure out where you belong. This Gold SWF squad has been playing a lot longer than you, this looks like a good place to start you off. But don’t worry- has nothing to do with skill. Give us a couple of days to sort you out. BTW, Auric Cell packs are on sale and the store has new cosmetics…”
-
You put comms in this game for Solo que, and it’ll open Pandora’s box….
Roblox…Minecraft…Fortnite….
I’m starting to think the community can’t handle the truth…should’ve been figured out already.
-
I feel your pain, man. Considering doing the same. Been on the fence about it for over a week now… GL Hope you find something to fill the void. I just started playing FFVII Remake & Senua so I’ll see how it goes from there…
-
Lmao 😂👏
-
There’s two things we as a community need to understand: 1) This unsportsmanlike behavior you are seeing more often is not the direct cause of SBMM, but the INDIRECT cause of it. Players who once rarely encountered it, and now see an “uptick”- it’s only because matchmaking is throwing more of the bottom feeding killers at you from the old ranking system. The ones you wouldn’t have normally ran into on a consistent basis. 2) This is the big one- A LOT OF LITTLE KIDS PLAY THIS GAME. We need to really come to the realization of that. They’re immature, so they do stuff like slugging you and ringing Wraith’s bell or throwing Huntress’ hatchets at you until you bleed out on the floor. They’re the ones that face camp, tunnel, and dont play survivor. The ones that do? Ragequit when things dont go their way. They’re also the ones too scared to do the last gen when there are only 2 or 3 survivors left. If you look at some of their profiles you’ll see the tall tell signs of a kid gamer like a generic gamer pic, recently played Roblox, Fortnite, Minecraft, and Gangbeasts. Other things as well that add up. These are the same kids that ruined Friday the 13th by shooting fellow counselors, running them over with the car, screaming into their mics, and teaming up with Jason.
Now don’t get me wrong, not every kid that plays DBD is toxic, and adults display the same toxic behavior as well as play the games I mentioned above, but if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck…
-
I have not got timed out, but there were a couple of times I think I was massively depipped like I DC’ed, but it was actually the killer. I was on the verge of going up one grade both times then next thing I know 1 game later, I’m down to one pip out of five in the same grade. What the hell?? Wish I was paying closer attention to what my pips were when those killers DC’ed (for confirmation). Next time I will.

Your list repeats the word "Revert" many times, and this brings a smile to my face :)
Lmao makes sense since you’re the one i stole it from! 😂
-
- Remove SWF from Public Matches
- Remove SBMM & Grades- revert back to old Ranking System
- Revert to Old Ruin
- Revert to Old Undying
- Revert to Old DS
- Revert to Franklin’s 2nd Rework
- Fix the Map Algorithm to be truly fair
- Revert Spirit
- Revert Nurse
- Revert Billy
- Revert Bubba
- Revert/Nerf Wraith’s stupid speed Buff
- Remove Wraith’s footsteps & Snarling
- Wraith’s Add-on for not knowing where bell is coming from would be base kit
- Remove all add-on’s that give killers wall hacks (Myers, Wraith, Pig, Bubba, etc.)
- Spirit Phase sound can be heard when in her terror radius. Brown add-on now needed to remove it.
- Revert Balanced Landing
- Revert back to OG Barrels
- No cheap fake skill checks when you abruptly leave a gen
- Stop supporting 8th gen consoles with future updates & crossplay
- Optimize game for 8th gen consoles
- Add shards to the free rift
- not participating/doing objectives in the game for 5 mins or longer makes the entity reveal your aura to the killer (death to the crab people urban evading in the corners)
- more severe DC penalties (habitual offenders lose an entire rank and get longer que times. Players who do not ragequit get priority que over them.)
- Revert toolboxes
- Revert survivors keeping add-ons when escaping with them
- Revert Boil Over
- Nerf Infectioius Fright Distance
- Longer cool down for Starstruck
- Doctor’s Madness affects DS
- Revert Head-on
And that’s just for starters…
-
Playing less, having less fun, and considering moving on. I wish there was a game that would completely take me away from DBD right now.
-
I wonder how this will work with NOED?
-
Other than a recent DLC drop, I’ve been getting a pretty diverse crowd for killers in 2021. I love it. It makes me tolerate what used to be my least favorite killers to go against (Doctor, Ghostface, Twins, & Legion) more bearable. Wraith (now my current least fav to vs.) got that buff so yea there was a spike for him, and for some reason Legion got a little popular over the summer- but both have subsided thanks to Nemesis & Pinhead.
-
Last year survivors would spawn on HG a lot. Now it feels like the opposite. This year Ruin or Undying go pretty quickly. Also feels like less killers are using less HG. Maybe cause less Spirits?

Nothing is especially more frustrating is when a bad killer gets rewarded and possibly even a 4K for doing this move. Run kindred and just do generators then get out. Don't even bother going for BT plays if it's a killer with a one hit move.
Sucks for the guy on hook but if I was on that position I'll be more frustrated if the killer got even more kills that way.
👏👏👏 OP NAILED IT. This should be pinned, tweeted on the official DBD Twitter, and show up in tips during the loading screen lol.
This is what we gotta do people. I hate being the one camped and seeing all 3 of my teammates coming for the save. NO! Do gens and get out!! IDC if you have BT- don’t reward him! I will Martyr for the cause. Good killers don’t need to camp. Barbecue & Make Your Choice have GREAT value and incentives to leave. Use em you scrubs! 😹
-
I have encountered some really nasty builds out there, that don’t require hexes- so I’m definitely not sharing. I had to give it up to the killers for having such a devastating yet unique build. Complete nightmares to go against. I definitely don’t want the masses to catch on. At least with this, you can do totems. But yea, this is definitely a good one. Did y’all make it out lol?
-
Yea it’s not looking good for us boys…I’m thinking we may have to wait until Tuesday. Some intern at Xbox was probably looking at last month’s calendar when they pushed the patch live. The 17th & 18 of August are on a Tuesday/Wednesday respectively. IDK man, this sucks. SBMM already had me feeling some type of way, now this.
-
A lot of middle schoolers play this game, unfortunately. I usually chalk those type of threads/posts to them.

Rank 1 both sides, although I don't think rank matters. I do think I am an above average survivor and killer, but I'm definitely not as good as some players. Somewhere between a little tryhard and sweaty for both sides.
I believe it relates- hear me out. This type of play style you are seeing occurred in red ranks, but it wasn’t the norm. You alluded to it yourself in your OP. But it was VERY common in the bottom ranks. That’s why this forum was, and still is flooded with complaints about camping and tunneling. Players are not purposely playing like this because they’re trying to compete in SBMM. Those players have BEEN playing like that. Everyone got dumped into the same cesspool (thanks to SBMM), so now we all have to climb our way out. You, me, and everyone else that were in red ranks now have to deal with these type of players more often than before. My theory is because SBMM is so janky, you’ll still somehow run into them often in high MMR (to cut down on que times perhaps?) Post game they’ll most likely have a sub-par grade no-where close to yours (not always though).
Fortunately for me, I haven’t encountered too many of them since SBMM became official- but the last two beta tests for it was brutal. I had them all the time. My beef with SBMM (and I had this problem during testing as well), are my teammates being potatoes against killers who are actually good. They don’t camp or tunnel.
Definitely don’t want the two together (potatoe teammates & toxic killers). Takes forever to climb.

I think the Casuals are those who want to get free Slowdown without any effort - aka old Ruin.
Just using your words, in fact, 99,99% of the community are casuals, because it is a casual game.
Huh?? That’s what I’m saying- they are the majority of the player base mechanics are catered to.

I'm trying hard as well, and I was a strong supporter of SBMM. But my solo games have been terrible. I really don't want to go back to SWFing, but it is almost to the point that I either swf or just take a break. It breaks my heart to have to do that, as this is the only electronic game I play.
I feel your sentiments. SWF for me is not an option. The guys who I used to run with aren’t that good at the game, plus they moved on to Apex. They stopped playing DBD out of frustration.
-
@scenekidtrash what Rank were you before SBMM? I’m assuming Red or at the very least hovering between high purple to low red (6-3)?

How many threads are you going to post you are thinking about quitting in? This is second in the top 10 threads.
To the OP - I haven't noticed any real change in my killer or survivor queue times since SBMM - my wait is dependent on the time of day I play and which role. My max wait time for either is approx 5 minutes at worst and 15-20 seconds at best. US West Coast player.
Two.
-
I’m heavily considering quitting altogether…
-
People quitting out of frustration? TBH, I’ve been thinking about it all week. Yelled at my monitor this morning out of disgust for this system. IDK any more…I’m trying to give it a chance. I really am.
-
no.
-
Both should have never been nerfed. It doesn’t matter how strong Hex totems are- the casuals in our community are too damn stubborn to look for totems.
-
🤣🤣
-
Don’t worry about what others think. If I played on PC, I would just turn end game chat off. 90% of it is negative and it seems to bother people, so it’s not worth keeping it on. Just run what you want.
-
@MandyTalk Another one left behind, fallen through the cracks. Feels like quitting the game. There’s more of us. Imagine those who are not the forums. Please tell the devs. No need to respond. I promise not to tag you again for these. I’m just very frustrated as a paying customer, and I’m not sure how much more I can take of all the Ragequitting, inexperienced players I”m getting- to face off against very skilled killers. This is not fun.
@justalilbit123 do you get games like me where you’re doing everything and if you die first, you have more points than everyone alive? With a gap of like 2-3K more than the closest person? And of course you still have that 5k person but they’re cowering in a corner or urban evading around the map. Very disheartening.
-
Any sources for this being a bug? I personally don’t believe it is. I think it’s intentional. I came to DBD right after Legion dropped, and CONSTANTLY getting skill checks as you got off a gen was not a thing. Yes it would happen, but back then it was actually random. You would hear and see it right before you got off. Now, it’s ALWAYS immediately as you get off- and you don’t see it. That’s not random for it to consistently do that on a frequent basis. That’s not bad luck. This only became a thing a little more than a year ago. Maybe even two. But when it started, you were able to circumvent it by not moving your character as you let go of the gen. Only sudden movements would trigger it. Now you can’t even do that anymore. Then we get these frequent skill checks as the killer hooks someone, so it’s harder to hear it and gawd help you if your’e looking directly at the hook because now it’s also harder to see.
The devs have been doing a lot of stealth nerfs and making ######### harder for survivors as of late. It’s very annoying. We have this with the skill checks mentioned above, flame barrels got nerfed, you can’t hug the walls on most structures now because the devs put a prop or a hook at the end to screw you over as you look back, Regents were nerfed and had no effect on fog (maybe partially due to performance on older consoles but still sus), flashlight saves keep getting harder and harder to pull off every year (window for success keeps getting smaller), less lockers (making Head On obsolete & Inner Strength less viable), and my 2nd favorite- what’s feels like 50% of the time- hatches spawn near an exit. What is this?? Cmon man. But this skill check as you leave a gen crap, takes the cake. It’s even more likely to happen if you’re in the killer’s terror radius. ######### is on purpose.

No, this game is already heavily survivor sided, why make it worse? This is a problem of your team not playing like a team and just wasting pallets.
This game is SWF sided. Solo que is a completely different game for killers. Not 100% of the time, but a good portion- yes.
-
I swear some of our fellow members could give Stephen King a run for his money…picture well painted OP. Felt like I was actually in the game, after reading that.
Btw, you made the right choice. That’s just how it goes sometimes.
-
A lot of little kids play this game to my surprise (I attribute a lot of camping and tunneling to them too, in addition to the DC’ng). Those of us who were in Red & Purple Ranks on the old system, didn’t encounter DC’ing on the same level as lower ranks (for who it was quite common). Now that SBMM has us teaming up more with these sucky players, we are seeing more ragequits and letting go on hooks for the littlest things. Entitled babies.
-
I see everyone is suggesting when a survivor is being picked up- but what about when he uses that add-on to increase the solving time? It’s never enough- especially if someone was downed near a hook. As he gets more popular, that add-on will be the meta and you’ll see it on most Pinheads like what “all-seeing blood” is to Wraith. Then what do we do?
-
@SuzuKR what killer were you using?
