I struggle against him too but honestly like him or not, he is balanced and takes quite a bit of skill to use.
This. He’s one of the few balanced killers like Deathslinger (RIP).
OP I can see how PH can be annoying- he used to piss me off too. But his 50/50’s at pallets can feel very rewarding when you beat him at his own mind game. If he guesses wrong, you can run to a nearby tile and extend chase. DO NOT VALUT WINDOWS AND PALLETS WHEN HE’S DIRECTLY BEHIND YOU. Treat him like Huntress- that’s a fee hit. You have to get creative and try to bait vaults. When I hear the sword drop, I look forward down and try to fake the direction I’m going in, then dodge. Personally I don’t’ like to look behind me when he’s aiming because the really good ones will herd you into a structure or obstacle for a hit, and i don’t know tiles that well. I’m always bumping into ######### whenever I look behind in chase. He’s so rare in the wild now, though- so new players and fairly new players won’t get to practice often.

Common sense would say not to assume things like that.
I just hopped into the game and there's a link to the survey right there.
Key phrase “most likely.” Didn’t say definitely, absolutely, or positively- just plain “most likely.” I know there is room for it to be quite the opposite so that’s why I phrased it that way.

Not the least bit surprised. I’m sure they made up their minds to keep it regardless of what the community says. There is a portion of us that do not frequent the forums, but common sense would say they most likely would say “no” if they took the survey. I imagine the devs spent a lot of time and resources into SBMM and they’re not about to throw it all away. It’s unfortunate for us who don’t care for it.
-
Don’t let this stress you out. Key escapes don’t hurt you, and it doesn’t help them either. It’s a draw. Don’t look at it as you were robbed of a kill. Besides, from what I hear top MMR as killer is too damn stressful any way so these key escape draws may be doing you a favor. Also keep in mind 10 days from now, they’ll be pretty much useless.

The problem is killers don't get any benefit by raising their mmr.
As a survivor you are getting teammates who are more efficient at least.
But don't get me wrong. I am not a fan of sbmm in general now.
Good point.

No
It's not skill based match making, it's escape based match making. That's what I'm gonna be calling it from now on
A survivor playing well and dying so everyone else gets out/getting facecamped to death from the beginning somehow determines they are of lower skill than those who escaped in the match. It's BS
And a killer who did poorly all game, only to get hooks and kills at the end because of NOED, gets to advance.

I loaded into a lobby with Bubba and this while reading your thread…literally just got out 30 seconds ago and came here. Yea this ######### is strong. He’s a walking Insiduous Bubba now. This guy didn’t even have to use his chainsaw. The threat of it was enough to keep us in check in addition to already being out positioned and caught off guard. Damn I wish I was using one of my totem builds for this one…

Hi guys,
After playing killer in high MMR(I mean only seeings 4 gamers join my lobby at once, almost all the time, 1.5k hours -6k hours each, avg of 2.5k hours usually as I've tested) I've come to some realizations, as I'm a 50/50 player and sometimes was a survivor main.
- Playing killer became truly unfun, no matter if I ended chases quick(quick for strong survivors as i mentioned moves between 40-60 seconds), by the time I hooked them and went for some gen pressure, I would had lost 2 gens. If the chase was longer than that(which is possible, survivors are good), I would had lost 3 gens.
- Pressuring other players and dropping the first chase if it's too long isn't a good idea in high MMR, all of them can play the game(most of the time) pretty well, considered they all have quite some hours and they can all run you for a bit. THERE IS NO WEAK LINK in higher MMR.
- You must be a master of one Killer. In the previous ranking system, I enjoyed playing many killers and I became pretty good with them, which borught me nice results. Now, In high MMR, if you're not REALLY good with one killer's specific anti loop power, you're gonna struggle. be a master of one if you wanna try and compete in this level.
- Which brings me to the next point, most M1 killers are not viable in HIGH MMR. I consider myself a good M1 killer but when I played pig, even with dashes and all her stuff, I get stumped by good survivors, they know how to counter m1 killers easily in most maps.
- Master a killer who is viable, my blight is good, but since I don't know too well how to hug tech, Z flick and do more techs well, good survivors stomp me because they know how to handle normal good blights. become a master of a viable killer, if you master a deathslinger, you're gonna get stomped cause they will hold W and pre drop strong pallets until you lose, for example.
- Not only that there's no weak links in chase, because they're good survivors, they know how to be efficient on gens and really crush you. I never resorted to tunneling or camping because I find that gameplay boring, but it looks as a neccisity now tbh. ruin undying would get cleansed really fast in high mmr.
I can continue with more points but this post is already long enough, about the second part of the title:
If you've seen Otzdarva's last "Best Build for every Killer" video, you would see that almost all of his builds are the same. Ruin+Pop+Corrupt and something for info with slight varaities. this is a silent message for the devs I believe, that in high MMR you gotta have some stacked slowdown gens/crutch one shot perks like Devour in order to stand a chance.
This is not fun since it renders most perks of the game useless. the other tactic is to tunnel and camp and tbh after playing killer in high MMR, I would never blame killers for doing that again, I truly understand why you're doing that. I won't because it's boring but understandable.
Sorry for the long post, hope you get some intake from it.
Proof that high MMR is mostly SWF’S. It needs to be removed from public matches in order for the game to be truly balanced. It’s not fair to solo players and killers, of whom both would enjoy the game a lot more. Those two parties combined make up the majority of the player base and should be catered to. Killers that can’t compete against SWF (Wraith, Pinhead) do really well against solo que. Thats busted. Not balance. It has nothing to do with their skill-it’s all about comms. The info being communicated trumps any perk solos can bring in.
-
Should buff it to 45%.
-
As a basement trapper main, this does very little for us but a smidge of convenience. We leave one door trap free intentionally, then place the trap down on our way out- after hooking. Whatever trap a survivor undoes to get in, we retrap on our way inside and now everyone is in the hotbox lol. It’s merely a convenience thing, that’s it.
‘Although i main trapper, I don’t like going against him. I’d be more concern with him just having 6 traps in maps consistently now, and being able to carry two at base. This is underrated and will have people more people paranoid to watch their feet. Even the game after when it’s a different killer smh lol.

Never had a problem with Spirit. Players who put the time in to be an efficient killer with her deserved the reward. Same goes for Nurse. Whenever I lost to them I didn’t feel like I lost to some cheap ######### like the speed buff & wall hacks on Wraith. F him and his mother.
-
Hell no. Honestly, I feel like Freddy’s nerfs are a placebo. He’s still a very strong and annoying killer in the right hands. His add-ons weren’t his greatest strength- it’s the perks you give him. He has one of the best map control in the game, and if you combo that with gen regression & info perks, he’s a force to be reckoned with.

Survivors who do the whole babysitting thing can unironically cost their entire team the game
The killer goes from having one down about to be hooked, to two slugs.
I despise people who play babysitter with flashlights
Likewise. I call them Ambulance Chasers. The could be on gens.
-
I would revert toolboxes back to launch, increase base regression to -30 charges, revert ruin & undying back to vanilla.
Increase time for having multiple people on a gen by 2 seconds per person, and spawn 1 less 3 & 4 man gens on each map (it would convert to a 2 man gen). Buff Technician by 4 more meters, reduce penalty for missed skill checks by 2%. Buff Oppressed Alliance with a button prompt to cancel the entity blocking the gen, so if your’e in chase, your teammates can finish the gen.
-
@Brokenbones said:
The way I see it there's three kinds of flashlight players
- The Clickers - these guys bring flashlights purely to click at the killer and blind them at pallets. They have no intention of trying to get saves. They also do the whole '2 man swf locker' thing that has no counterplay.
- The Babysitters - these guys bring flashlights every game and will neglect doing gens to babysit the person being chased and will attempt to flashlight save them only to get baited and slugged basically every time.
- The Points guy - these guys bring flashlights mostly to get extra boldness points, typically not trying to be toxic. They also bring flashlights in case they face a killer that's countered by them (Hag, Nemesis, Wraith). Will go for saves if an opportunity arrives but won't try to force it
Yea I’m the points guy, so it feels bad when I load into a lobby only to have someone leave immediately after, in fear that I won’t be a team player.

This is Tru3Talent's Chatterer build and is the most I'm having fun since SBMM. This build is complete with the right amount of detection and slowdown and I keep beating(3Ks or 4Ks) Survivor Teams with the Best perks and Items. I am in love with this build.
The One's I can't beat with this build are the ones who do not pick up their drop items, Does the Gen efficiently and ignore chain hunts entirely. These people are on the minority but still having loads of Fun.
I’m confused…how do you ignore a chain hunt? The chains are constantly harassing you, pulling you off gens.
-
Personally I think Sprint Burst is overrated. Only the top tier use it properly. Everyone else? It’s a handicap for your teammates. A lot of players donn’t even know how to properly 99 it. And then you have those that don’t pair it with fixated, and take forever to get you off hook or approach a gen to help you, because they’re conserving it. No sense of urgency. Timing is always bad because the killer comes back to hook after being gone for 5 hours, or comes to PGTW the 99 gen that could have been finished 7 seconds ago. Then off runs the Sprint Burst user leaving you at the gen with your dick in your hand.
Dead Hard is fine as is. It doesn’t need a nerf. DS nerf was too harsh. It shouldn’t go away if your heal was interrupted or if you pull someone off hook. That’s stupid.
-
@EvilJoshy said:
I normally dont bring them but i was doing a challenge that required one. I swear for those 6 matches the killers were gunning for me. I only used it at pallets. I cant time it for a save. I think because some players use flashlights to click bait the killers attention, the item has a lot of hate attached to it.
Yea i don’t do that. So stupid. Especially in 2021. I hate when I’m killer and someone is doing that to me. I usually just ignore them as long as I can. I once had someone ragequit because I wouldn’t chase them after all that flashlight clicking. I just kept walking past them, while they danced in the middle of the map- as I went back and forth chasing his teammates on Suffocation Pit. That felt so good. Bastard didn’t even touch one gen for 8 mins smh. He was probably some YouTuber looking for content lmao.
-
Yea I definitely agree it’s time for a sequel…matter fact I should make a post and see what the community thinks.

@ShakeyGames said:
Never go for the unhooked person who got saved right in front of you. Literally just ignore them.
I have played so many matches of killer where I ignore the unhooked survivor, that it is now built into my brain like waiting out Dead Hard. It ends in wins that feel better and make you proud of yourself, and survivors that genuinely had a fun time playing with you.
If you tunnel and then say that you can't win without tunnelling, then that's just an indicator of how bad your skill is.
Yes, it makes the game more challenging, but who wants easy games everytime? And you DON'T have to win every match you play! Sometimes, I have more fun in the matches that I lose because the survivors looped me well and I actually had to try in order to get some hooks.
What makes me so angry is that in the rare occasions I do play survivor, I am almost always tunnelled. Once, I got unhooked and the ghostface immediately went for me, smacked me, hooked me again. I got unhooked in front of him later, he smacked me, hooked me again, and I was out. No other survivor was hooked, I didn't do anything in the match.
I couldn't even loop him, didn't have a chance to get into a chase. He downed me as soon as I was done with the unhooked animation. All I did was stare at the screen and hit the struggle skill checks on hook, all game.
I feel your pain, OP. We’ve all been there. As for your suggestion, that’s exactly what I do when I play killer. I’ll even try to take it a step further (depending on how the game is going and what killer/build I’m using) and leave those two altogether. Try and chase someone off a gen. For example, Impossible skill check Doc…let the unhooked heal the recently unhooked while I drive the other two madness up, kick their gen for overcharge, have them miss skill checks with Unerving, down one, rinse and repeat. You work harder but when you win, feels better. No one can talk ######### and say you tunneled or camped. Now if you just happen to finish getting healed after being unhooked and ran into me on the OTHER side of the map away from where you were last hooked, then that’s on you. I’m not THAT nice lol.

Multiplayer games where you have to rely on your teammates and go againts other players always had their fair share of toxicity.
Do you think Dead by Daylight stands out as one of the more toxic ones out there?
If so,how would you fix it or at least try to minimize it?
So far, these are the things players in general find toxic in this game:
Flashlight clicking,t-bagging,camping,slugging,trolling,wasting pallets for no reason, hitting a survivor on hook.
Personally I think the game was designed in such a way that it will create a lot of toxicity just based on the mechanics of the game.
Flashlight clicking: Can’t do anything about that unless put in a troll command that depletes the battery after one too many clicks lol
T-bagging: Same as above unless there is an animation or command that slows you down after one too many crouches lol
Slugging: Nada. Legit strat. It’s just annoying to deal with as a survivor. Your time is being wasted.
Trolling: Player who are cornered should have a push animation if they lean into the troll for 3 seconds. Shove them out of the way. Someone coming to farm you off the hook in front of the killer? Should be a kick prompt so you can kick them in the face and they stumble back into the killer’s arms, as he approaches from behind 🤣
Wasting Pallets: Same as Flashlight clicking and t-bagging, hell the in game tips even say you can “drop pallets” as a distraction. People who do this btw are usually someone who tried to let themselves go on hook, got saved, and are now throwing a temper tantrum cause they’re stuck in the game. Careful who you force to stay in…
Hitting a survivor on hook: They can make it so the hits don’t register, but that wont stop players from doing the animation. Message will be the same and everyone knows it.

you do realize grades are still not related to skill right? and if you are contantly getting paired with them after 10 games, which means your sbmm atleast is working properly , then if you are getting paired with them the problem might be on a diferent side my dude.
That’s why I put “AND” in all caps. If you’re pulling players off hook while in chase, ragequitting, crab walking in the corners too scared to go for saves or do gens, intentionally sandbagging, ambulance chasing with flashlights, hiding in lockers for ages, & too scared to solve the lament box all while HAVING a low grade doesn’t reflect skill? C’mon now. No excuses. You don’t raise your grade playing like that. Doesn’t matter how much time you put in. It’s a reflection.
I don’t do any of that stuff- the opposite actually. Yet I’m barely running into any other survivor IRI’s, & when I do- they’re more competent than the usual potatoe skins. The IRI Killers? Like I said before, competent & efficient. Why nine times out of 10 I am at the top of the list post game dead or alive?? With a difference of 2-3K BP? Someone made a post WITH pictures two days ago showing this. I’m not the only one. It’s ridiculous. SBMM DOES NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE. Anyways we are going off topic. The only reason why I brought that part up in my previous post is to illustrate why they should just remove the grade. It’s annoying to see. If it “means nothing” (which myself & others on here don’t buy into), then don’t show it. They had the right idea during the last test.

Was it only the easiest solution bc it was the same with ranks? Or is there any merit?
The fact that grades have nothing to do with matchmaking would be clearer to understand if you couldnt see grades after the match. I know, most people understand it anyway, but there are still plenty of people, who dont. They complain about their matches, bc they see different colors.
Sure, they could inform themself and are kinda at fault, but removing grades could focus the attention to real matchmaking problems.
So are there any benefits of showing grades or are there only downsides?

They're misleading and there is 100 posts about "unfair" matchmaking when ash killer plays against iri survivors etc. There is no point of showing them. better replace them with character portrait
Yea, they shouldn’t show them. I still judge players by their grade. We are almost in the next Season, and if you play like crap AND are Ash, Gold, & Silver- it tells me you are not even good enough to pip to IRI. And I don’t want to hear anything about “well maybe they didn’t play enough as you.” No, that’s not it. The way they were playing is so bad, they will never make it to IRI. And according to some of our members on here, “it’s so easy to Pip,’ so that makes it much worse.
I’m tired of having potatoes as teammates, with Ash, Silver, and Gold- while me and the killer are both IRI I. I can’t carry them. The killer is actually competent and efficient while my teammates are not. Most games I’m at the top with the most BP post game. My favorite is when I’m the first to die because Ashe III Meg was too scared to get me off first hook, so I die and end up having more points dead then everyone alive. 😑
‘Just remove the grades like the last SBMM test. This system sucks as is and just seeing teammates low grades game after game is infuriating. Don’t even get me started on why I’m getting teamed up with them when I don’t play anything like them.

Blinding at pallets is actually the worst thing you can do because you lose distance so yeah after the flashlights nerf bringing one is just for trolling
Interesting… I have more positive experiences with flash lighting at a pallet than negative. They’re definitely not all winning plays, but they tend to help me. Especially if I’m not injured and run past them immediately after.
So I’m surprised to see the responses in here, confirming what I feared- flashlights are usually associated with bad players. Wow. My mind is actually blown rn. That kind of sucks too, that it has come to this. Too many influenced kids trying to be the next Ayrun.

Use the “Looking for Groups” section on Xbox- I’m sure you’ll find plenty of people on there willing to get their Hawkins fix on.

I came right after Legion dropped…considering leaving as well. This SBMM is no good. The old ranking system wasn’t perfect, but at least my teammates were competent for 75% of my matches. Now? The complete opposite- 25%.
-
@dbarranco you don’t sound biased at all, brother. I’m a survivor main and I’m not having much fun dealing with SBMM either. I keep getting potato teammates who do the dumbest ######### like pulling you & other teammates off hook while in chase, intentional sandbagging, puppy syndrome (follows you around then sandbags for window or pallet when killer comes), doesn’t body block, doesn’t do gens, doesn’t go for pinhead’s lament box, ragequits, AFK’s, and a bunch of other really scrubby #########. I don’t play like that so why am I getting teamed up with them?? I know they say Grades don’t matter, but I’m usually the only IRI grade out the team while the rest are looking like an Olympic Podium (Gold, Silver, Ashe). Then to top it all off half the time we get pretty decent killers on my level or better, in IRI grade as me. It feels like the system throws me in to “balance” the team, but i can’t carry players like that. Most games if I die first because players didn’t get me at first hook, I have more points than all of them, with a 2-3K difference. It’s frustrating. Game after game I keep getting that. I’m about to call it quits as well.
-
Sorry to hear, man. This really is a damn shame. I’m no programmer, but logic tells me the best way to improve & work on performance would be NOT to add any more assets to the game. Work on the current build, then take it from there. It’s a business and different teams do different things- I get it. But it’s not right to treat 8th gen like this.

Personally, I don’t think Boon Totems make it out of the PTB as is. They will get nerfed. IDK why the devs overshot so hard with its current iteration. I have also run into people crouch spamming or clicking at me while doing Dull Totems which is quite funny. One time I had a survivor clicky click at me doing totems and after the game the killer had NoED (who would'a guessed right). The players proceeded to question me in end-game chat why I was doing that which from the killers perks should of made it obvious.
While I do ultimately feel (as a killer main) that NoED is kind of unhealthy for the game and sorta like an MMR booster currently, I do see it should remain in the game while a plethora of second chance survivor perks in the game. In addition to being the only reason to even do Dull Totems.
All is to say, if your complaining about NoED.....do Dull Totems. From my experience nobody will do them, then complain when they die to it in end-game chat. Even with me running Small Game, there are times where I wasn't able to get all 5 totems in the game due to being chased most of the game, or being cornered off from a side of the map (because we all know how killers play if they are using NoED).
Even before using the new small game I could have told you the community is terrible at doing dull totems. They’re even bad at looking for Hex totems half the time. Players take a HUGE risk trying to do gens with Ruin up, vs. against a Blight or Billy with Tinkerer. Yet they still chance.

It's purely a waste of time to do dulls in over 90% of matches
It's best to just do gens and if the killer has NOED, let him get his one pity-kill
And to OP’s point, this is why players don’t do totems. This mentality. I personally don’t agree with it. Totems give you points, Hex Plaything punishes your team severely for not doing them, Killers complain about gen speed- so it gives them a small break.

I’ll admit for the past week my teammates were ok for the most part- not every match mind you. But in general, to answer your question, no. The majority of my time with SBMM and every single test before it, I had potatoes as teammates to go against really good killers. Very frustrating.

It actually needs the exposure. Especially since you have the OG’s on here still going around posting “I have over 2,345,678 hours in the game, and only have seen 3 hackers in the last 9 years.” 😑
