Are you really comparing a tournament with a significant pricepool to the regular DBD-experience?
Obviously the players are more stressed and less likely to have fun with such a high pricepool involved. Let alone that DBD Is still no tournament-game.
Sure they're stressed but again This ARE BIG NAME STREAMERS WITH MASSIVE AUDIENCES, they just showed how they hate DBD so badly. Like Shroud straight up uninstalled, is that not a bad thing?
Edit: If I'm an avid follower of Shroud, a Guy who rekts at competitive scenes in any shooter and I saw how bad his experience is at the game, I sure ain't trying DBD.

Footsteps are just screwed up regardless, no?
Although...and this is a shot in the dark based off of some amateur knowledge I gained about Apex Legends awhile ago...maybe this is an audio prioritization issue? I know Apex (really, Source engine, which Apex runs on a heavily modified version of) has an audio prioritization system, and it's one of the reasons why footstep audio in that game is so heavily complained about. There are often so many sounds going off at once that footsteps can essentially be "eaten" and fail to play at all, which makes combat legibility awful in that game at times (or did, haven't played in awhile).
Maybe DbD has a similar thing going on with its audio problems. And...going further, maybe it's something as simple like them muting/turning the audio to 0 instead of disabling it? Like even though survivors don't breathe while injured maybe the audio file is still active, taking up a priority spot? Would explain why the downed survivor audio bug was so prevalent too. Maybe the game is technically playing healthy, injured, and downed audio files all at once (or some combination of them) but just has the volume set to 0 on some of them. That might be a problem?
I'm probably way off the mark considering neither Apex nor DbD have fixed these issues, certain textures in DbD have had audio bugs in the past, Eyrie of Crows' sandy existence, and the fact that I'm no programmer. But it goes to show how hard it can be to even begin to solve these issues. It's very rarely a "just fix it, change a number" moment.
I do think Iron Will needs reworked if they're not going to spend the time tackling the issue, though.
E: Also I forgot to say, DbD's audio occlusion system is wack. Could have something to do with it as well.
Just a bit weird, they could just program Healthy State Sound when injured if they have Iron Will as a Perk. I think they programmed it that Injured States sound to be disabled but forgot footsteps to be included there so there are zero sounds
.

I don't think dead hard should dodge bear traps. That's the only issue I have with it tbh.
As for dodging Blight, isn't his attack still considered a m1?
Hmmmm it's more like a hard to control M1 swing that can only hit in a 45 degree angle if you try hard enough. I consider it to be something more closer to Shred.

Well this blew up in one day. I knew it'd make some of yall mad but dang, yall still arguing about this. I'm not taking the time to respond to 80 comments (most of which are just repeated the same talking points over and over anyway) so I'll sum it up here.
- I've still yet to see a response to why everyone throws a hissy fit when you mention that the top killers are capable of playing at a level where they can make any killer viable and that's an issue because that's not representative of the average players. But the majority of the arguments everyone makes for survivors is based on "top tier, 4 man SWF, best coordination, best perks, death squad, etc" So arguments based around the top 1% of survivors is okay, but arguments around the top 1% of killers isn't???
- When I say viable, I mean they are capable of killing at least half a team. Every killer in capable hands can do that pretty easily, and again, I'd argue most can even confirm 3 kills if the player is good enough. Some of yall may consider that a low bar, but we can agree to disagree on that. Personally I think kills is a terrible measure of skill anyway because it says that a face camping Bubba getting 2 kills has more skill than a killer who worked hard and got all 4 survivors to death hook but couldn't confirm a kill and that's dumb but that's the game we're stuck with currently.
- Streaks might not be 100% reliable, but all these assumptions that he's only playing against low tier survivors or people who are throwing 50 games in a row is just as absurd and there's literally no grounds for yall to base those statements on. You're stretching
You said Skills Level matters. So at the top of top 1%
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uf8BExJWWc&ab_channel=DOWSEY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6p4OtdwOy0&ab_channel=TrU3Ta1ent(The Best Killers vs Best Survivors) Dowsey and Tru3 struggling to get hooks versus Oracle (4 Man competitive Team) on their strongest Killers means those Killers aren't viable.

At your skill level though.
Again I'll restate, if someone else can use the same killers that you can't and can perform well with them (whether it be Otz, Scott Jund, any top tier DBD player), then the issue is not the killer. It's your current skill level
By this logic, Tru3Talent and Dowsey going up against Oracle a competitive 4 Man SWF using their M A I N S (Tru3 as Wraith and Dowsey as Twins) getting rekt and struggling to get HOOKs means Wraith and Twins isn't viable.
If your Killer Skill level Matters this means Survivor Skill level should Matter too no?

@Tsulan said:
Ah yes. The overwhelming gratitude those survivors show, truly makes up for the "gg ez" comments you get after playing like this.
Their "gg ez" are meaningless when you got everyone on 2 hooks with 3 generators remaining and you proceed to rekt them Multiple times and let them live. Imagine Downing a Nea 20 times in a single match, do you think their "gg ez" message means anything other than a cute weakling looking tough?
-
Their insults are meaningless when you bodied them 10+ times.

If Wude is " the practice of letting an opponent know that you could defeat them handily, but allowing them to live as a mercy", then you'd be already destroying them in the first place and just choosing to let them go.
without that it just looks like this
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/J18T7QWF3EEA/telltaale.jpg
which is just accepting that you lost. I feel like an overwhelming victory but showing mercy and getting destroyed yourself but being okay with it are two different things.
The win condition is still getting 2 hooks on each survivor or 8 overall hooks. After this the Killer then still proceeds down Survivors on Chases (Depends on the Surv if they want to Loop or Farm). When downing the Survivors multiple times after their 2nd hook, The killer sends a message to 4 survivors that they can be killed anytime the Killer wants simulating Wude.
The 8 hooks 0 kills condition is to make sure you don't look like you got destroyed.

Manipulating your MMR by losing, then applauding yourself for pseudo winning while still driving your MMR down is smurfing. Yay. You are having fun beating people up you shouldn’t be matched with.
Do I blame you? Not really, killer sucks right now. Do I agree you should do it? No.
Sorry but it is still the cowards way out. But hell I can’t bring myself to play killer anymore so you’re a better person than I.
If playing with people you should not get matched with is smurfing, wouldn't that mean before SBMM was introduced all Killers were smurfs? What made DBD fun back in the day was due to casual players/ not so good players were getting matched with you. If this is smurfing that would mean 1.8K Hours on my Killer was just me smurfing.
Getting 8 Hooks 0 Kills is way better than getting 2 hooks 2 kills with a basement bubba.

I agree. Having to let the survivors know that you weren't trying to win sounds like insecurity.
Hmmm I guess I'll just do a giga chad move and just type "gg" on all of my matches in the future
-
@WeenieDog said:
I don't think killers are complaining that they are decimating survivors.
A Big Part of Killers are complaining that they are sweating Balls for Kills and generally find their time to be unfun. Wude makes games fun for both sides as technically you loss as a Killer on the match but on the hearts on 5 players, you won by a land slide.
Also I keep seeing people complaining they aren't getting enough Kills, with Wude, you embrace that you won't get kills as you down Survivors multiple times after their 2nd Hooks. You won by your standards by a mile but technically loss because of BHVR's bad SBMM system.
-
@Heartbound said:
I like this a lot, especially since I have had quite a few days where I'll do this too.
Sometimes it's just the thrill of the chase, you know?
Agreed, Matches like this are more fun as its always non stop chases, no dead times where you camp someone and no stress of you N E E D I N G to kill someone.
-
@PigMainBigBrain said:
Still managed almost 30k....not bad.
You could have gotten 4ks though just sayin.....
And gain SBMM? No thanks. Even if I didn't kill anyone, I did convey on this matches that I can kill them anytime I want to 4 survivor which is as good of a 4k for me.
-
@squbax said:
Idk im not a fan of throwing games for the sake of it, survivors will insult me anyway might as well get some kills in the match.
Again this is just me letting people know another way to have fun as a Killer in DBD.
This solved the fun = winning/killing mindset for me. Let's say you got a toxic Meg head on our match here. Wouldn't downing her 10+ times make her insults meaningless as you just rekted her an ungodly amount of times? It's sending a message of "I could kill you anytime I want."
Letting Survivors escape and losing SBMM is always a win for me with this method. Less Sweat Squad more Fun.
-
@YOURFRIEND said:
If you have to hoot and holler about how you could have won but chose not to, it kind of makes it gross. I do the same thing, but I don't talk about it. Pretty sure survs know.
I agree, post game I just leave a "gg, I just a 8 hook match". I encounter less toxicity here too with this gameplan as most people leave "thanks".

Well we will have to disagree, as a killer who doesn't kill anyone imo is a bad killer, might as well play against tutorial trapper if everyone will escape in the end.
Still though, As a Survivor if you are looping seriously for the whole duration of the match and the Killer downed you 10+ times. You won't think your opponent is skillfully bad.

No last year in January it was averaging 36k player that month and it's the same this last January. It's also down 2k from last January's perk.
It's literally been losing players for 6 straight months and it been more every month. Dbd has never done this before.
I still have no clue on why people here are not seeing the concern of a game losing players for 6 months straight.
-
@ThiccBudhha said:
Eh... It will just go up for the anniversary right afterwards, fam.
I doubt they can top resident evil chapter from last year, I think DBD will still be in decline then as we still got VHS coming up. I'll just make the same post as this in June then. I would love to be proven wrong by BHVR but I think there is no chance of that happening.
Edit: As long as the Lead game designer believes Skill = Kills, I am 100% sure that it will still be in decline in June.
-
@thrawn3054 said:
That's really overstating things.
People are saying it was normal for a game to lose players in 1 month or 2 months then on the holidays , people were saying it was normal to lose players because they are coming back to work or school.
If DBD loses players for 6 months straight is that not a concern?

Hope VHS comes to Xbox Game Pass sometime so I can try it out. Yeah nerfing Twins again is just crazy I can't understand what they are thinking doing that to a killer that so few play.

Just to be clear, DBD will be free for a week on Epic:
Yea, these is just concerning man. There is no limit where people can get free DBD in that period. A Hacker can basically set up a Bot that creates a new email account, then create an Epic Account then claim DBD then run it for 7 days straight. (I know because I can create one)

A little part of me was hoping the new chapter will make me come back. Seeing a super strong Killer is nice and all until BHVR decides to nerf her for those new players. I was relieve that quitting this game was the right choice seeing BHVR promoting Holding W strat in the new chapter.

Chases are an average of 1 minute.
This is your problem.
Even on a m1 killer like Legion your chases should never be longer then 30 seconds. Even that is a overstatement.
If you feel the survivor is in a strong spot and can run you around for that long you m2 them and leave
Then Pressure Disappears as Circle of Healing just made them Healthy again. That's why Legion is horrible to play as of the moment now, You M2 a survivor, Chase another one, But all the Survivor you leave injured just healed themselves.
This is my entire point why self healing should be nerfed. Leaving Survivors injured for pressure in not viable if they can just heal themselves infinitely.
-
@ThiccBudhha said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2611192#Comment_2611192
Those killers weren't viable anyways. If anything, adding Plague to meta was a raw improvement to killer diversity.
That still doesn't magically solve the problem with those killers. They still have those problems, Ignoring them does not mean they are solved.
-
@Sonzaishinai said:
I have has no issues dealing with CoH on Legion. They are one of the m1 killers who is the least affected by it.
Killer instinct isn't blocked by shadowstep so a single m2 is enough to roughly know where the totem is so it never last long.
And survivors taking time of gens to bless totems over and over on top of Legions usual slowdown really halts their progress to a grind.
Not to mention deep wounds counters the speed buff of CoH as it's atleast 12 seconds no matter how fast they can heal
And if the totem is too far away to detect I leave it. If survivors really want to spend 8 seconds running to the totem, 12 seconds mending, 16 seconds self healing and then 8 seconds running back to the gens they are 44 seconds out of the game.
A 32 second selfcare is concidert the best killer slowdown perk in the game
CoH can be strong but Legion and Plague are killer that really shouldn't have big issues with it at all
That still just solo calculated, Sure a Survivor is not doing a generator for 40 secs but 3 Survivors are still able to do Gens.
That also does not take into considerations that Chases are an average of 1 minute and can go on for more with how many pallets there are. You may suggest just to leave Good Lopping Survivors then but they would just be able to heal themselves. 2 Survivors can still get Gens Done while your pressure is so weak.
By the time as you down a Survivor with Legion, the other Survivors should have been healed up.

Circle of Healing is fine. There is nothing wrong with it. Survivors literally waste time bringing a boon into the game, a good killer should capitalise on this. Plus they're really easy to find and take out.
If they're that big of a problem just run Thrill of Hunt or Undying.
The problem is, most of the time they just put it on an annoying spot that would make me waste more time than usual if I snuff it out.
Example the Totem inside the underground part of Badham School and the Totem on the 2nd Floor of the Asylum. This also applies to Midwich and the Game, multiple Floors and hard to get to.
Killers can snuff the totems on my examples but it would take too much time as 5 secs can be the difference of interrupting a Generator Pop
-
@Devotion said:
do you not have decent headphones because the noise that comes from them is loud and makes them very easy to find
One of the problem is, A good SWF would just put it an annoying position where you'll have to waste more time.
Take for example the Totems on the underground of Badham's school. You can easily hear where they are but the time wasted to go there is not worth it. As 5 secs can be the time you can stop a generator from popping.

All these hits are "exhausted on the ground"
They fixed a broken perk. Don't be mad, you didn't deserve those hits in the first place.
When DH is working as intended, DH fixes Mistakes made by the Survivor.
I don't know why people kept saying DH was broken when When it's practically built-in on Survivors on High Skill Brackets.
Survivors make mistake ---> Press E ----> Dodges a Hit ---> Makes it a Pallet and Window ----> Extend Chases
Survivor will eventually go down ---> Press E for Distance ---> Makes it a Pallet and Window ----> Extend Chases
And you have to deal with this potentially on all 4 Survivors.
All those "mistakes" by Survivors on chases was brought by Killers outplaying them well on their mind games.
Survivors don't deserve the extended chase time brought by Dead Hard. You got outplayed, Deal with it.

I stand by Tru3Talent suggestion that the game should be balanced by number of Hooks instead of Kills.

Similar? You realize that's basically a rank 10 killer vs all red ranks and you want to call that close? The closest rank to the killer is 7 grades ahead of him, honestly with that matchmaking I'm not surprised they DC, that has nothing to do with balance but that killer clearly doesn't play the game as much you
It's not rank based matchmaking though? Have you read the patch notes for like months now? Its Skill based matchmaking where you have a hidden number that is based on Kills and Escapes. In this case Killer had a similar "Skill" to us though?
-

With how fast Gens are in my MMR Bracket, I run No Way Out and NOED on my M1 Killers. Sometimes it doesnt go to End game but when it does go off there's always a 25% chance that all totems are gone even in a 5 minute game. No Way Out and NOED punishes M1 survivors for me though.

Didn't Demo got nerfed? If I remember correctly BHVR nerfed his Black Heart and Barbs glasses add on because it was strong on Chases.
