I truly hope that they either revert this or add a toggle option. This change was completely unnecessary and unwanted.

I feel like some kind of anti momentum would do wonders for newer killer players to stop multiple gens popping all at once, akin to deadlock or corrupt intervention. To give killers more time to make mistakes, that way it doesnt effect the 3 gen in the late game but helps buy the killer time where gen pressure is strongest, in the early game.
So lets punish Survivors for successfully completing their objective? That sounds so healthy for the game.
Why encourage Killers to learn how to put pressure on Survivors when you can just add a new mechanic and handhold them? I'm sorry, but this is truly a bad idea.
-
It seems like they are actually trying to ensure that no one plays Survivor in 2v8. I have no desire to play alongside bots, they barely even function in their current state. All this will do is create an extremely frustrating experience for players.
Honestly, I don't even see the appeal for playing against bots. There's nothing skilful or fun about getting free downs and easy matches because the bots just don't work.

To me, 4Ks have never really mattered but this is especially true now.
The only time I actively play for a 4K is when trying to get an adept achievement. A 2K or 3K is fine by me, provided I'm happy with how I played in a match and I completed my challenge (if I was doing one). In fact, I often come close to 4K'ing but frequently let the last Survivor go because I don't care enough about getting a 4K.
Truthfully, I find Killer to be quite monotonous and dull nowadays, it seems a bit too easy to win matches. I don't mean this in an arrogant way, because I can, and do, play badly and lose, but it seems that only happens when I play poorly and throw the match. It's rarely due to the Survivors. I blame this on a mix of bad matchmaking and Killer becoming more and more oppressive in recent years, to the point where it's arguably too much.
I struggle to get myself to enjoy Killer now. It just does not feel rewarding. The only time I seem to have fun with this role is when learning new Killers and trying to understand what I can do with their power. 4Ks have never particularly mattered, and honestly shouldn't. Dead by Daylight, with some of its challenges, adept achievement requirements, and pipping system, puts too much emphasis on 4Ks. Additionally, content creators doing ridiculous win streaks does not help the situation. All it does is encourage others to try to do the same, leading to an overly competitive, frustrasting, and unfulfilling environment for everyone involved. Yes, 4Ks are impressive and should be seen as such when they happen, but a 3K, and even 2K to some extent, should be enough for players to succeed in this game. Focusing on 4Ks has only been detrimental to Dead by Daylight and its playerbase so far.

The frame drops are really bad and almost constant after this update. Regardless of the killer and map, I’ve been experiencing loads of FPS drops as Survivor (I haven’t played as Killer yet) and it’s making the game pretty much unplayable.
From my matches today, this has occurred against Trapper, Vecna, Huntress, Pig, Wesker, Freddy, Houndmaster, and Nemesis on maps such as Gideon Meat Plant, RPD West Wing, Dead Dawg Saloon, Disturbed Ward, Midwich, Temple of Purgation, and Ormond Resort.I will say that the issue does seem slightly better when facing less complex killers, such as Pig, but it’s still present and still ruins gameplay. I’ve tried changing my settings to help resolve the issues but even that doesn’t seem to work to any significant degree.

Why do I have to prove anything to you, a random stranger?
Don't do it for me, do it for BHVR. They are the devs, not me. I'm just here checking out what people are talking about and give me opinion on it. I really love the game and some people here are quite frankly legit amazing personalities. I've made friends through this game.

Nobody drops em like I do, baby. Like Babymegs on Badham.
I've commented once on this thread and wasn't planning to do more outside of upvoting with what I agree with. Mostly because I don't have the patience to argue with people who are intentionally ignoring the point. But after reading through the entire thread and seeing your responses to others, I have come to say my piece.
You still refuse my invitation to see it my way even tho I kindly asked you to at least try. I am not even sure that you read my posts at this point. I wish you the best of luck with whatever you're doing here. But you and I aren't going to find it anytime soon.
From what I've read, your main points seem to be:
- Try playing custom matches and find like-minded people.
- I don't experience it, therefore it cannot be happening. Give me proof.
- You could be trolls who are malicious and lying to me.
I have seen you make a few other points about your opinions on gen rushing, SoloQ, SWF, etc but I think the conservation has moved away from that and so I will focus on the three points above.
Firstly, regarding custom matches, I understand where you are coming from. Yes, custom matches with friends is a fun and novel experience. I've done it before, I'm sure many other people on the forums have too. But you seem to forget that you earn absolutely nothing from custom matches. I actually want to feel like I've achieved something when I play this game. I find that's typically the reason people play games in the first place, because it's fun and rewarding. Once the novelty of 'oh I can kill my friends' and vice versa wears off, custom matches quickly become pointless and unrewarding.
If that wasn't the case, I truly believe many more people would only play KYF and there'd be a shortage playing live matches. Telling people to play custom does not solve any of the core issues raised in this thread and will not contribute to a meaningful solution.
Secondly, where's your proof? If we have to provide video proof that it's happening, then I want to see all your matches where it supposedly doesn't occur. If you can't believe the many people telling you that this is their experience, why should we believe you?
In fact, there's loads of proof that it's occurring. The numerous threads that get created about this matter every time an event occurs is quite literally all the proof you need. In addition to that, you have admitted that you partake in this griefing/trolling behaviour when you said you play "Hostage Doctor". If you are partaking in it, then why wouldn't others? And why wouldn't they take it to a greater extreme?
Not to mention the current giving up epidemic that we are seeing. Clearly there is a bigger issue here, that isn't just 'survivor entitlement' or whatever you decide to claim it is.
Thirdly and finally, why would so many people spend their time trolling and lying to you about this issue? People have better things to do, and honestly, you're not influential enough for them to all waste their time trolling you. I'm sorry if that comes off as harsh, but it's genuinely ridiculous that so many people would do such a thing and you trying to claim that they are is disingenuous.
I don't plan on responding to you after this. Your previous actions prove to me that you are going to ignore my points and just repeat the same tired arguments you have been saying for the past 6 pages. I'd like to be wrong about this, but I'm not hopeful. Despite this, I hope that others reading this thread will take what I, and others, have said onboard and hopefully gain a better understanding of the situation as a result.
-
And people wonder why we have a giving up epidemic in this game. I played 3 matches and literally 2/3 were the exact same as this.
-
Yeah it’s really disappointing that this bug still hasn’t been acknowledged, let alone fixed.
-
I agree with what you've said. I think the changes the devs made following the PTB were just nonsensical and I'm looking forward to seeing what the coming adjustments are for Onryō.

I can understand the feeling, and how this makes sense also, but the game has to go in a philosophically CONSISTENT direction: either we remove all the bad things as much as possible, or we do not.
If we remove all of it then we quite literally need to delete the game because the game is based on “bad things”.
-
Guys, this is a horror game.

Honestly, I don't think adding voice chat is the way to go. A ping system would be better. Take The Outlast Trials for example, it has both voice chat and a ping system but no one uses the chat because the ping system is so good. The point emote could even be changed to be the thing that creates a ping, if you wanted animations included.
A ping system would do the job of a voice chat without all the issues associated with voice chat.
-
At the end of the day it's personal preference. For me, I like the old way of wiggling. I feel like they're adding way too many skill check related tasks into the game and it's a little bit annoying. Plus, the old way is easier for me as it lets me take a slight mental break mid-match.

Streamer mode still let you block people. It's a bug if there's no options at all.
Try to click on their points and not their name. I'm not sure if it's intended or not but "hitbox" for block-profile-friend options is moved to points only.
I'll try that next time I'm in-game!

They were free cosmetics you earned through playtime (sacrificing survivors) so it makes sense you'd be compensated with currency you'd earn through playtime (iridescent shards). If the masks were available to purchase for auric cells in store instead of just spending the time playing the game then it would make sense to give out auric cells.
Literally, I understand why people want Auric Cells for them but at the end of the day they were free, earnable cosmetics. Not paid ones. It makes sense that they'd get Iridescent Shards in return for them.

A serial killer, wearing clothes that are associated with women, it's stereotypical. This can also be observed in other movies like Gumb in Silence of the Lambs. It shapes a negative perspective of transgender people, specially transgender women, by associating them with this kind of deranged characters.
Please show me when it was established that Leatherface was canonically a transgender character? Because I'm fairly certain Leatherface is just someone who dresses up as their victims.
So I don't see how you're managing to jump to their cosmetic being a trans stereotype.

Why are you bringing up nerfing a perk when you were originally discussing British stereotypes? This seems completely random.

There's no way to find out your MMR. It's hidden on purpose.

@AshleyWB said:
Example: David King is a survivor that is entirely based on harmful British and Mancunian stereotypes such as alcoholism, violent abuse, vulgar language, etc and it the perks also mock certain local phrases and must be renamed if behaviour surely do care about stamping hate out the game.
I find it very hypocritical when we're told that certain hate is more acceptable than other instances of hate.
It comes from a very privileged position to dictate what backgrounds of people have the right to be exposed to the very hate you set a precedent to remove from the game.
The amount of content creators (who you support) who spout "dead hard" in a Mancunian accent when they use the perk is beyond revolting.
I urge all players to refrain from talking for the duration that dead hard is not on cool down.
Do I make myself clear?
Can you imagine the outrage it would cause if a player did some sort of African accent when they played a character from that part of the world?
Yet it's completely fine to discriminate, stereotype and mock the culture of Manchester (and harmful British stereotypes) and ascribe it to the survivor David King?
Yeah, no. Just no.
-
It's genuinely embarrassing, and quite frankly vile, how some of you would rather have four cosmetics in a game than support their removal and those who have been harmed by their presence.
I do not understand anyone who would actively choose not to support those impacted by the Leatherface masks and the hateful behaviour that they incited. Why would you choose to argue against a decision that helps make Dead by Daylight a safer and more comfortable place to be?
They're literally cosmetics in a game. They needed to go. Get over it.
-
I'm glad they brought his voice lines back. It just wasn't the same without them.
-
No I don't think it's toxic. It can definitely be frustrating when the only reason you run certain items is for challenges, but not toxic.

It removes a tool used for racist behavior.
If you had neighbors that hated you and they kept vandalizing your car overnight by throwing eggs out of the basket of eggs you keep on your front lawn, removing the basket of eggs you keep on your front lawn probably wouldn't stop it all together, but it would remove a method they use to do it. That's the point.
Limiting ways people can cause harm to others is important as well.
Precisely! This very well explained and gets right to the point.

@gelukrait said:
Firstly, I don't support any hateful or unsportable behaviors ingame. For me, game is the place for getting fun after works.
But I really concern about some points after reading the recent dev notes:
- Do you really think the BMs can not find other ways to spread the their hatefulness?
- If I play some killer likes Spirit / Oni / Trickster, should I hook or sacrifice Jack / Feng / Yun-Jin or any Asian related survivors?
- If I play as Feng / Jack / Claudette / Elodie / Tapp / Adam / Yun-Jin, may I report someone who camped me as racist behavior? Will they get banned?
- Will I get banned if I miss to mention any PoC or Asian killers or survivors on above points
- 6000 iri shards compensation, wow, so generous. We literally lost 4 pieces of cosmetic in-game, one piece might cost 400 auric cells. So with 6000 shards, may we buy any single piece of Bubba's cosmetic as a COMPENSATION? And hold on, can we use iri shard to purchase license content?
Tbh, I think the report system is the first thing which should be improved than any other.
Going through this point by point:
"Do you really think the BMs can not find other ways to spread the their hatefulness?"
- Some will be discouraged by it and some won't. Those who continue to harass others may find other ways to do it. Although, removing the masks has made it harder for them to do so and has removed something that has proven to be very harmful to POC. Racists will have to be more obvious about it now, making it easier to catch them and prove it. The main aims of the removal of Leatherface's masks was to take away a tool that racists used to hurt others and to help POC feel comfortable while playing Dead by Daylight.
"If I play some killer likes Spirit / Oni / Trickster, should I hook or sacrifice Jack / Feng / Yun-Jin or any Asian related survivors?
- You should continue to play the game as you normally would. You're not going to be seen as racist unless you go out of your way to only hurt and harass Asian people. Often it was a combination of in-game and out-of-game harassment via the use of stream sniping, hateful messages and names, facecamping and tunnelling.
"If I play as Feng / Jack / Claudette / Elodie / Tapp / Adam / Yun-Jin, may I report someone who camped me as racist behavior? Will they get banned?"
- You should only be reporting people if you know/suspect that they're were doing it with racist intentions. If they're camping everyone, only camping because they didn't play well or camping you during endgame it is likely that they're not being racist.
"Will I get banned if I miss to mention any PoC or Asian killers or survivors on above points"
- I'm not sure what you mean here but hopefully I have answered your question with my previous points.
"6000 iri shards compensation, wow, so generous. We literally lost 4 pieces of cosmetic in-game, one piece might cost 400 auric cells. So with 6000 shards, may we buy any single piece of Bubba's cosmetic as a COMPENSATION? And hold on, can we use iri shard to purchase license content?"
- I'm personally not bothered about the compensation that was given out as I never cared for the cosmetics anyways but I have seen other people say that they would have preferred Auric Cells as well.
I also agree that the report system could use improvements but I believe that the removal of the masks was a great decision and a step in the right direction.

Where did I justify racism? Quote me on that please, or get lost.
You have tried to derail this thread multiple times by bringing up random, unrelated topics like coulrophobia and paedophilia.
You are actively trying to take the focus away from the harm that Leatherface's masks created by refusing to accept that they needed to go and by constantly attempting to make the decision seem absurd and unreasonable by equating it to things that are completely unrelated to it.
-
@OceanMan said:
Removing the masks will not remove the racists or the harassers. Surely adding a Streamer mode/queue would be a REAL solution to stop targeted harassments and prevent hate stream snipers. BHVR is doing basically nothing while pretending they have ended racism.
Removing the masks makes it harder for them to be racist without blatantly being it. It will discourage some from doing it and it will make it easier to catch those who continue to be. Also BHVR aren't claiming that they've "ended racism", what they have done is make it harder for racists to be racist and removed something that was harming part of the community.
Making a streamer only queue wouldn't work. It would make queue times way longer for streamers, ruining their gameplay. It's not a feasible solution.

Don't you just love it when people pull out a completely unrelated topic to try to justify racism and racist behaviours.
-
I love the Trickster. His gameplay as both survivor and killer and his cosmetics are amazing in my opinion, along with his lore.
The common reasons that people don't like him (or at least the ones I've seen) are:
- They don't like his flamboyance and effeminate behaviour, and don't think his aesthetic fits with the game.
- They don't like playing against him/they find his chase interactions unfun.
- Certain interactions become harder against him e.g. body-blocking.
- He's overpowered (this was more common before his changes, but I did see it briefly afterwards too).
I tend to find that their actual justification behind these reasons doesn't always make sense as he isn't that strong of a killer and we have some out-there cosmetics for other killers, and survivors.
-
Here is mine, feel free to ask any questions about my placements of killers :)
I felt the need to specify that I don't like playing against the Twins, I just like stealing Victor. Just so there isn't any confusion. However, I do quite enjoy Pinhead gameplay.
As for the fifth category, I tend to find these killers unfun because of how people choose to play them. For example, almost all Trappers I go against are Basement Trappers at this point and it's really quite boring. However when I do see one breakaway from my very biased perception of them, they can be fun or just generic.
I am open to critiques of my list if you disagree with it. However I will not be taking any critique for my top tier as no one will be able to change my mind so there is no point trying. <3

Where's the logic? What about the killer who might get a kick out of the camping playstyle? Or the slugging playstyle? That's supposed to be removed because some survivors don't find it fun? Because survivors babyrage over it like you? Why is your fun more important?
Your entitlement is showing.
I feel like I'm the only one who finds it hilarious when I get camped. OOF. Then again, apparently I'm the only one with the inside scoop that...wait for it...this is a video game. Not real life. :D
Something being briefly funny, and something being fun overall are two very different things. Like yeah, you can laugh it off but at the end of the day you now get to sit on a hook and do nothing until you die. There's nothing fun in that. Especially if queue times are long and you had to wait ages for a match just to get to do nothing.
As for those who camp and slug as their 'playstyle', they're not going to get kicked from the game. It has been a present since the start and I don't see it going away anytime soon. If people want to camp and slug, they will find a way, as they always have.
What I have also found with those who camp and slug is that they don't do it for the reward, because it tends to be not that rewarding. They do it to ruin another person's fun, or to take out their grievances from a past match on a new set of survivors, and if ruining someone's fun is your idea of fun, well then you're just not a very nice person.

You've entered the "I have no argument" phase. Let the grown ups speak if you're just here to invalidate.
The argument is invalid. You're literally saying that you shouldn't expect to have fun while playing a video game. Like where's the logic? Because I'm not seeing any.
-
@JimbusCrimbus said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2727921#Comment_2727921
I mean, that's purely subjective. It's only unhealthy because people take the game too seriously and have this inner entitlement that they are somehow "owed" a fun game, or a chance to escape.
It's like when killers get mad at survivors for splitting on gens. It's dumb, and so is whining about camping. Same with slugging.
You can not dictate playstyles. That's how a game dies. The biggest issue in DBD isn't camping, slugging, balance, or anything like that. It's players who whine about inconsequential things that are part of the game. Play it for what it is or hop back to Minecraft on peaceful mode.
This argument is invalid - the point of a game is to have fun. That's what they're made for.
You don't buy a game to hate it and never want to play, you buy it to enjoy it and have a good time.
-
There should be another form of punishment besides loss of bloodpoints because those who do it clearly don't care about the amount of bloodpoints they get.
Besides loss of bloodpoints, camping should be (and is currently) punished by the other survivors not saving and doing gens, but many don't do that and would rather try and save. Simply because it's really boring gameplay, especially for the survivor who is hooked. It makes a match completely redundant.
-
I know they've only just left but I hope to see the snowmen and pumpkins in future events. They just made events a bit more dynamic and fun, particularly the snowmen.
-
I agree with @ImmersedNurse. Removing the ability to break-out Ghostface would just make slugging and camping that much easier. Plus, a hooked/slugged survivor breaking out Ghostface can easily be avoided by the Ghostface waiting a couple seconds until they have moved out of sight to use Night Shroud.
-
I personally like the way wiggling currently is and don't want it to turn into skill checks as most survivor interactions involve them at this point and I'm a bit sick of them. Not everything needs a skill check.
However, I do think there should be an option to change the way wiggling works for those that want it. I believe that the new wiggling will be opt-in and opt-out for testing reasons, and I would like it to stay like that even after it has been tested.
