Wraith and LF are the camping pros, but I've played a few of each that don't camp. Thier abilities are particularly suited for it, though, so I wouldn't expect that to be the norm.

Only if they do it in more than half of the matches they play. DC bans are a myth.Orion said:In DbD news, 50% of the Survivor population has been banned for disconnecting too many times.

This is just another way to exploit a badly designed mechanic, which should be fixed. The intent was to give killers a chance to adjust thier load-out.
Of course, lobby dodging for items is also exploiting a badly designed mechanic, so I'd like to see the devs fix that as well.
Ideally, there would be an actual punishment for DC in place. At that point, we could add a 15 second timer for killers to adjust after survivors ready up. Then apply the DC penalty to killers who lobby dodge after the survivors lock in and before the match starts.
The problem is, you can't fix one side of the problem without making the other worse. Just add the killer timer - lobby dodging gets worse. Penalize lobby dodging without a chance to change loudouts - last second switching gets worse. Enforce the current DC penalty - deranking gets far quicker and easier, thus even more prevelant. -
I think the game is pretty balanced against 4 solo players, tbh. I'm not a rank 1 killer, though.Brady said:What about what they did to Smite?
Create a seperate casual and ranked modes, and only allow SWF in casual or vice versa. In smite, you can no longer play a ranked game unless you are Solo. I've seen dramatic improvements since then.
Maybe not the best solution though. Ideas, ideas.
My only problem with bringing Survivors to SWF level and then balancing around that.. may make being a solo player in this game a highly unappealing side to play.
To those who complain about balance, do you think the game is currently balanced when there's 4 solo players? Specifically want Killer mains opinions but any are welcomed. From my survivor perspective, whenever there's no SWF, the game seems to run at a give or take type scenario.
That said, there really isnt an option to remove SWF, since you can't stop voice comms and it would just lead to the bad old days of survivors lobby dodging until they are matched with thier friends.
Making SWF in an unranked mode only would not matter much, since there is no reason to care about rank once you get the initial achievement. It would end up being a ridiculous wait time for killers, as the majority would be in that queue and majority of survivors would be in the unranked queue. -
As a survivor, I would much rather face a low-to-mid skilled huntress. But at high skill, I'd rather face the clown.
As a killer, I'd rather play clown because the AoE means I can be effective without being pro, and I play mostly Myers Hag and Trapper so I suck at no-scope aiming. -
The only change I noticed in the last nerf was that some killers (looking at you, Clown!) can apply a "short" exhaustion debuff that effectively denied lithe, DH and BL for the entire chase. That's it, really, and while kinda lame it still requires them to hit you first, so when it happens I chalk it up as a failure on my end on remind myself to gut gud.
No idea what all the spazzing was about.
As for upcoming changes, I won't feel strongly either way until I see what they actually do in PTB, and maybe not even then. -
Iron Grasp is amazing during this event. Otherwise...meh.

The in-game report is a good idea, but if they are way over the line then take a screenshot and report them directly to the platform provider (Steam, PSN, Xbox live). Steam has a zero tolerqnce policy for hate speech, etc and unlike BHVR they WILL ban for the it on the first offense.

This would be great. Maybe have it snowing all the time so they could replace scratchmarks with footprints in the snow that fade after a few seconds.

Why is anyone still responding to feffrey? But hiw own admission he has never played killer and every post a salt-laden rant or pur3 bait. Stop feeding the troll.

Not sure which post you're referring to, but I don't think those two options are mutually exclusive.Mister_xD said:troll or idiot... troll or idiot... troll or idiot?!?

Concerned? Yes, definitely. Ready to start spazzing before I have a chance to see the impact in a PTB? Nah.

How did you get that out of his post? I swear, I could post a picture of rainbows and puppy dogs on this forum and the first response would be salt from a cat lover.yeet said:by "playing for fun" you mean "let the survivors all escape every time because only their fun matters"

Is that on PS4? On PC, survivors get escape points and get to keep thier items/add-ons.slingshotsurvivor said:Lately more killers have been dcing which I put squarely in the noob camp.
However, around rank reset sooooo many killers DC! That seems to be a crappy trend as of late.
The difference between a Killer DC a d survivor is night and day!
Penalties for killer DC on survivors
Lost offerings
Lost items
Lost add ons
No BP (depending on how they DC most do it outta spite so no BP)
Depipping
EVERYONE is impacted
Penalties for survivor DC
Screws over other survivors but killer gets a bonus
DCing on purpose needs to be punished.more severely. It's a trash trolling “perk" used to annoy and take advantage of deranking and/or using it as a way to get the game you want to play.
It stinks for both as the experience is awful.
DCs are still a huge problem, but apparently less painful on PC. -
+1fcc2014 said:Can everyone both survivor and killer mains shut the [BAD WORD] up already. The nerfs and buffs in the last update were no big deal. Can we focus on frame rate getting fixed! -
Unfortunately this thread on DCs comes up every day, sometimes multiples in a day. More or less everyone wants the timer implemented, but BHVR is pretty adamant on not adding it. We even had not-queen comment on a thread and they apparently have looked at other games (literally every one I can find having a DC timer) and they still think thier current system is fine.

Same here - price didnt change from preorder.

As killer, I will give it a minute tops to see of they YOLO and give me the grab. If they do, I take the grab points and drop them on the hatch. ,if not, I hit them and move on. Just plain not worth the time.
As a survivor, if will YOLO if I'm playing solo, but in SWF it depends. If the killer earned it, I'll just give them the damn hook and move on. If they facecamped the first hook, I'll sit there until I have three garbage crows and run out of things to talk about in discord. -
Are any of your posts anything but tantrums, insults, toxic memes and blatant bait? At least EpicFail had new material for his multuple daily garbage posts, and he still got banned. Where the hell are the mods?feffrey said:I don't get why most killers resort to tunneling because they see a flashlight but that's if they don't DC like most.
The ones that dont DC all run staple builds running NOED,Franklin's,BBQ,Iron grasp....
So original.
Lol The best part is when you juke one and loop him into a pallet just to hit em with the flashlight and run off behind him..
Watch that fool spin around in circles looking for you like a moron lol I love doing that and jumping in their face afterwards just to repeat what I did to them

I agree, that vacuum removal was huge. I am waiting to see what the new animation and earlier stun do. The former is just plain necessary and "feels bad" as a survivor, while also leading to some really odd timing to avoid trading hits, but the latter might make pallets a bit too one-sided again. Or maybe not. I'm looking forward to testing it in PTB.
I wasnt around in the early days so I don't know what pallets were like originally, but I do feel like the devs are homing in on the right balance for pallets. -
Pallets are about to get a huge buff, so let's see how that plays out in PTB. I think it is going to make last-second pallet drops far less likely to result in a hit.Weederick said:@Tsulan said:

Looping isn't even that strong anymore. Its more about the second chance perks and looping infinites for survivors.
For killers, camping is still too strong. It was always one of the best strategies to 4k (proxy/bait camp first guy, win the 1vs3) and it singlehandedly wins low-mid rank games. I really believe, after the recent survivornerfs, that the base hooktime needs to be increased.Could you elaborate on how the recent survivor nerfs have either decreased the loop or increased the camping? I must have missed those patchnotes...
In 2.0 palletvacuum got removed. Really big deal (no sarcasm)
Also double pallets got removed earlier this year.Camping didnt get changed. Thats the whole problem.
-
To be fair, scratchmarks and bloodhound kinda of making LoSing and escaping near impossible. I'd love to see looping removed entirely, even with a harsh mechanic like pallets auto-dropping when you run through them, if it meant we could get some good stwalth perks and have lightweight be built-in.
I'm also a stealth player who hates looping, so I may just be biased. -
Ahh, welcome back! Its been a few days since your last salty noob post, I was wondering if maybe you starting playing Civ 5.
-
I'd be all for it. If there were no safe zones, why would you even want to camp when chasing is not only more fun guaranteed to be more rewarding?
-
I'd put a hatch in the basement that requires a key found somewhere else on the map at takes 20 or even 30 seconds to open, like an exit gate. Maybe have Remember Me effect it. Also, anyone in the basement exposed status when it is being opened to prevent SWF piling 3 blockers on the stairs.

For more ideas on camping, see the other 7490362528 threads with similar topics and rants. Or wait an hour or so for the next one. But don't expect to be taken seriously.

Oh, and it has the added bonus of screwing everyone out of thier offerings and/or leaving the other survivors to get rekt. Good thing the devs built it into the interface and made sure you can do it enough to fully de-rank without being pennalized!Baphomett said:There is already a manual rank reset button. There is already a manual rank reset button. Press escape and you'll see it, it says "leave match".
-
So, as an experiment, I did the "esc -> leave match" thing 20 times in row (this was before rank reset) and there was no impact whatsoever. Sorry to anyone impacted by my experiment, btw. That's 60 survs that got screwed, which seems like it should not be okay, doesn't it?
This clearly shows that whatever system in place is totally ineffective. Granted, I never leave matches in normal play, but even if I played 5000 matches without leaving, 20 in a row should trigger something, shouldn't it? Especially if I play to rank 1, DC to 15, and repeat. -
So the survivor will Agent Scully and the killer is Bad Writing?not_Queen said:The answer is out there, have a closer look!

It should be renamed to "Wasted Potential".
It's just there to shame us into playing less by reminding us how much time we devote to the game. -
Title says it all

You must be on the wrong forum! Quick. say something salty!

I think you are on the right track trying to find a solution that doesn't directly punish the killer amd has a downside for the survivors, too. That said, I think this idea has too much potential for abuse and would just lead to making the gen rush problem worse.AshleyWB said:
So we should ignore everything bad this game does. It's not a whine thread it was an idea to deter camping. Camping isn't fun and you know that. I play both killer and survivor solo and when I get hooked I want survivors to make the killer pay for camping. You can shove that yyyyup where the sun doesn't shine if you think I'm wrong.Dr_doom_j2 said:So basically this is another survivor whine thread when younjust said you were tired of whine threads... yyyyup.

Looping is a legit strategy. A survivor is not responible for the fun of the killer.
Both suck for the other side and are frustrating. Neither side is responsible for playing by the other sides made up rules. Getting your ass handed to you in any game or sport sucks, especially when its not because you lack skill, but lets all get some perspective
The devs should fix the looping issues, but holding it against survivors for using the tools at thier disposal is counterproductive. Once looping is fixed, camping will be less rewarding than looking for other survs. Then, and only then, would I support looking at ways to actively deter camping.
Before anyone asks, I play surv at red ranks and despite calling myself a killer main (I like killer more, but can't play with friends) I dont usually get past purple ranks.
I never loop, because it "feels bad" for both me and the killer, but that is a personal choice. I do, however, FL save and blind at pallets and do other things I hate as killer, which I dont hold against other survs when I play killer. T-bagging is always a chump move and I dont do it, ever. -
I still want Buffalo Bill. I don't care what they do, I just want perks called "It puts the lotion on it's skin" and "Would you f*** me? I'd f*** me."
-
Re pallets: They are changing the drop animation for survs and also when the stun occurs in the pallet drop (beginning rather than end) that will definitely fix the survivir side complaints. Not so much the killer side, but thats normal.
Re: vaults - that's intended, killers can swing through an open window and hit if you are within weapon range. You can do this even if there is no vault and you catch a surv watching you through a window. -
While I agree with most everything said here, I'm curious what patch notes you're referring to? I'm interested to see what is actually coming with ch 9 - or rather the next PTB - because I am hilding out hope thay there are other tweaks we havent been told about yet that make it seem less one-sided. For instance, if the notes included a change to pallet generation, or double-windows, then the BL nerf would suddenly seem totally reasonable, right?

Nope, there is no such thing as a full inventory. It will add tabs as needed, so no need to worry!Mikessnow said:When the inventory is full if I unlock an add on will I lose it? I wish I could delete some add ons I don't want because a lot seem useless to me. -
Exactly. It's a vicious circle (pun intended).Dr_doom_j2 said:White_Owl said:What you think you accomplish: you destroy the morale of the survivor and make him reconsider his life choices. He won't resort anymore to looping and will forever be nice to killers.
What you really accomplish: the survivor is happy because you're salty, proving he was hard to catch while his team can tbag you at the exit gates they powered in the mean while. He will do it again because the feeling of owning you was great.
So then the killer by default starts camping every survivor, because he starts becoming so angry all the time all he does is want to piss of others. -
Ditto. I tunnel hook farmers, too. If all killers (whether killer mains or not) did this, it would discourage the behavior. I play surv enough that I tend to be a bit of an avenger on killer when it comes to the crap survivors pull in my solo surv games.Esheon said:
Personally, I'd let you run and I'd go after the idiot that was blocking you in.SATXRI said:I totally feel you on this one, I’ve had it multiple times where a survivor is blocking me when the killer is coming our way, often rendering me unable to escape and the whole deal ending with me hooked (and no one coming to unhook). I understand when it isn’t done on purpose but sometimes I come across survivors who do this multiple times to me and other survivors in the same match. -
In my experience, the salt is far more common from survivors, by a very wide margin. That said, when killers do get salty in chat, they tens to make up for the lower volume with higher intensity.
Personally, I just drop a gg and close chat as killer because I am tired of the hate. As survivor, if I don't think the killer earned a ggwp, I just say nothing and leave. -
Monstrous Shrine. Its a meme perk for griefing builds.
