  • I totally agree with OP.  I want my perk slot back!

You have to be behind them or really close, if you try it well in front of them it will be a hit
I got a hatch grab yesterday from the front, you just have to time it right and be basically touching them.  It's just like a hook grab in terms of distance but they have to be mid-animation when you tap m1.
  • I believe this is unique to console.  If the killer DCs on PC, you effectively escape (including the 5k BP) with your items.
  • Personally, I have no problem with bodyblocking and think it is a valid strat with a solid risk/reward.  The only thing I think should be changed is that the killer can't drop a survivor they are carrying if there is another survivir in the way, which can lead to some really frustrating situations.
  • Personally, I hate the RNG perks and would rather see RNG-reliance reduced and more play/counterplay mechanics encouraged.

That said, I would support an offering that revealed all perks, items and add-ons to everyone in the match.  Might be kind of cool.

Killer bias a bit.....??? Remove NOED also they should be dead before it geta that point correct??? How about every end game perk??? Failure right?!?!

NOED can be disabled before it activates at any point during the trial. Once 2 generators have been repaired, even if the Killer finds and kills all the remaining Survivors one by one, they can no longer prevent the hatch from activating.
As for end-game perks, unless you're suggesting that the hatch is an end-game perk, I don't see the comparison. Maybe it should be a perk. Hatch won't open on its own unless the last remaining Survivor has Sole Survivor equipped.

The other killer bias player ladies and gentlemen.
Yeah but atleast he made a point about Noed. Your point is about at sharp as a bowling ball.
    Lol wow you are brilliant.
Ignoring the unwarranted insult, his/her underlying point stands.  Labelling someone as "them" vs "us" isn't an argument.  Stop trolling.
  • Yes, I know what agitation is for genius, but that doesn't stop the killer from chasing others while holding onto survivor. Especially, when they have iron grasp..
Even with agitation, you should have zero trouble outrunning a killer carrying someone.  I think we've strayed pretty far from the topic, though.

What do you think would be a fair change to the hatch?  Or is it your position that any change is a problem?

I'm lost.  What does agitation have to do with chasing? It only has an effect when carrying a downed survivor...

Maybe he's one of those who thinks Agitation is "bugged" and works even if the Killer isn't carrying anyone, despite proof to the contrary.

Huh, that's the first time I've heard of the agitation "bug".

Strange arguments aside, there really is a problem with chases being extremely hard to get out of without looping.  Between bleeding, scratch marks and injured noises you have to use all 4 perk slots just to have a chance at actually escaping outside of a handful of specific spots on a couple of maps (or a really rare RNG terrian layout).

I'd personally love to see more evasion perks, or even nerfs to killer tracking, coupled with a hard nerf on looping like closing loops routes similar to the entity window blocks.
  • Ha! Not when you have agitation and fire up.
I'm lost.  What does agitation have to do with chasing? It only has an effect when carrying a downed survivor...

Also, Fire Up is garbage tier... with all gens done it's still a poor sub for brutal strength.

Since we do know that licensed killers will be getting new outfits, could we ever see a casual Amanda outfit for The Pig? I think it would be scarier/creepier to see an actual human chasing you.

    We know that?

I have heard nothing, and even then, probably not all licensed killers will get new skins

They are talking to the licensed people about getting permission to make cosmetics. However I don't know what licensed killer that it will be tho.

They said in the stream they were talking to one of the license holders my guess would be Myers considering the new movie coming out in October. I doubt we will see it for all licensed killers and survivors however but one is a good start.

That would be my guess, too.  The other licensed characters are a bit stale and have no new hype coming up, but the Myers' lincense needs more publicity woth the new movie, etc.
  • If they fixed ranking, and swf matchmaking, then tiering the ranks by color and not allowing deranking would make a lot of sense.  Of course, the rank reset has never made sense to me...
  • I think the intent was solid, but the execution was terrible.  The end result is that new players are stuck in queue for ages, and when they finally do get a match ot almost always includes lower ranks anyway, either because of the SWF matching or because they sat in queue long enough that they were matches with 15s or lower.
  • It seems any suggestion that makes the hatch escape harder is a no go with some survivors, which makes sense since there's 7k BP on the line for them.

So how about this - give the killer some kind of bp bonus if he is within range of the hatch when the last surv escapes.  Then killers can just hit the surv and let him escape while still "winning".  Thoughts?
  • I made the mistake of trying out the old version at level 3 on the nurse once and got one of the cornfield maps.  It was unbelievable - just a sea of red marks and corn that was so saturated it looked like a small army of survivors had recently marched through the field.  Needless to say, I havent run it since, but I may check out the new version.
  • One more - with all the frustration around looping and chase mechanics, as well as the addition of so many aura reading and detection perks, are there plans to empower stealth players and/or evasion with new/reworked perks or mechanics?  Such as counters to bleeding and bloodhound?  Or is the game intentionally moving toward a chase-oriented playstyle?
  • Also, are there plans for any more perks with bonus BP, or reworks of existing perks? I'd love to see other playstyles rewarded, such as a perk that helps lose the killer and generates tokens after escaping a chase and remaining out of a chase for x seconds, etc.
  • There was mention in a previous live stream of taking steps to reduce the perk grind now that there are so many teachable perks.  Are there are any further plans or ideas making thier way to a PTB, or is this low on the priority list?

While that may or may not have been true, they just announced in the live stream that BHVR has hired several ACMs, such as Peanits.  I don't know if there are still volunteer mods, but the ACMs are on the payroll.

If I get tunneled and a killer only focuses on me for a big amount of time, and we win, I'll be happy about it. Even if I die. I know I've got my team the match! Who cares about bloodpoints or ranks, they aren't really hard to get in this game.

That's the right attitude, imo.  Everyone has to a take turn being the sacrifical lamb every now and then.

Self care is not a problem at all.

"The strongest perk in the game with a 90% usage rate is not a problem"

    I quote with reasoning:

    @Brady said:
Self Care is not a problem, at all. It's in the meta because it's a simple perk that has common sense to be in the game. And a great plus on actually being a lone wolf. You know, the way the devs originally intended this game would be like.

Run without Self Care, at any given rank, and you'll see there isn't a that much of a difference at all. It just makes solo players less reliant on other players, and when you solo, that's something you know.. that's really nice. Stop trying to take that away.

"It'll prevent mindless actions like bodyblocking, etc" lol no it won't and it hasn't. I still bodyblock without Self Care, and so fourth.

And if you change Self Care, Bond's gonna be meta along with the possibility of Botany, Empathy, or Leader making it's way up there too. Give or take. Maybe even We'll Make It will become more meta too. And you know what that means?

Faster Heals, grouped up so faster gen rushes, and way more coordination due to everyone running Bond because Self Care wouldn't even be considered worth a perk slot.

    Just my opinion.

healing in general needs to be limited imo

Really? That's a very unreasoning opinion.

survivors currently suffer no penalty for repeated injuries
even the devs have acknowledged this and want to change it, but its always shouted down by survivors

Yes, they currently don't. And they shouldn't.

You lost the chase. You weren't able to keep LoS of the Survivor and broke off. You don;t deserve another easy down if you find them again, do you?

Self Care is not a problem and it never has been; playing without self care has no worries because it's simply as easy as finding the next survivor or finding a chest.

pretty disingenuous to claim that the only time a survivor gets injured is during a chase.
god forbid survivors aren't just able to take hits whenever they please and might actually have to think about how they engage the killer rather than just a brainless "I'm always invincible" mentality that they have now.
the devs themselves don't like this, but survivors who want to keep the game a bully simulator decry it every time.

You assume that by tampering with Self-Care, it will end risks like bodyblocking.

    Not. The. Case.

I'll even be your prime example. I will bodyblock even when I'm injured. I'm not that afraid; I know how to optimally lose a killer, take them on a wild goose chase while injured, or do gens and escape while injured. Not everyone is able to, and you shouldn't take away the most basic mechanic that has the most common sense, in the game.

It seems that the more in the future we go, the more EASIER everyone wants the Killer Side to be. Pallets are a problem, the length of a chase, and gen rushing. Not healing. Prioritize your concerns rather than picking at every single good thing a survivor has in this game. It needs a fair balance, Self care is fine. Use Nurse's, Use BBQ, Use your auditory senses to find survivors. If they healed up before you got to them, it means they deserved the heal.

Also I'll state it again, be careful what you wish for. Completely touching Self Care would switch the meta and you know what the better alternative to self care is? Bond. You know what Bond does? Faster heals, grouped up for gen rush, and also more increase in use of perks like leader, that will make everything faster. Be careful what you want.

Nerfing SC is a pretty solid shadownerf for NC and Sloppy Butcher, which are both currently very strong perks and an amazing combo.  I don't want to see SC nerfed, personally.

I'm curious, are different mods assigned to different boards?  I ask because I can't recall seeing any mod other you in any of the posts in the general discussion forum.
  • On the other hand, you really can't blame the killer if the surv that unhooked hides and the wounded one runs around in the open just begging to be downed.  Most of the time when I'm accused of tunelling, I was just c9nsistently going after the first survivor I saw, and the "tunnelled" surv was just terrible at hiding.
  • @Orion said:
Indeed. This is a PvP game, after all.

That sadly seems to be a concept forgotten. I never understood comments of "I wont play this way because it is not fun for "insert opposing side" " when playing a PVP game. Sorry, as a killer, my objective is to hook and sacrifice people. As long as the means are allowed and legal by the game mechanics, you damn sure I will camp, tunnel and everything else to kill you. That is the point.

No disagreement here.  I only get upset when the opposing side is playing intentionally suboptimal in order grief someone.  For example - hard camping the first hook with 5 gens up because the guy had a flashlight, or worse, slugging the obsession and standing over the body for the full bleed out timer while all the gens get done and everyone else escapes, just because they had DS equipped.

The fact is, though, I rarely see that, despite the impession one might get from the forum posts.

Like Selfcare, Iron Will, exhaustion Perks, Adrenaline... new meta perks like killer got (ruin, bbq, bamboozle, pop goes the weasel or franklins demise

Something especially for two mechanics: vaulting and bleeding
something like your vaulting speed is increased by 15% or you angle for a fast vault is idk 20% wider
or you're not bleeding anymore like iron will which makes you completly silent... this would be so good especially in combination or at indoor maps
or maybe your bleed requenzy is tremendously slower like every 8 seconds you leave blood on the ground
this would be nice for some crazy stealth plays^^

    and nothing like
your wiggle effects are 75% stronger
what are wiggle effects? can you see them? eat them? idk

Playing meta survivor is since 2k16 always the same.. iron will, selfcare, balanced landing are soooo old... it's boring and sorry i dont mean playing another build just for fun no im talking about the meta like "bbq, ruin, enduring/bs"
    it's getting boring playing survivor^^

I'd love to see more "meta" perks on both sides, just to switch it up a little and have more varied matches.

"why is Decisive Strike considered Toxic and cancerous?"

    * Image at least decent survivor, that is not bad and don't have to be good. It takes a lot of seconds to catch someone if that survivor is using looping (that's classic). If you manage to catch that survivor, this perk will give all other survivors even more time on objectives, that survivor have free escape without only one downside (losing that perk slot for free escape! wow! what a downside, right?! hah). That chase will go on even much longer. If that survivor can loop rly well and know map rly well.... well it's almost all game one chase, gg. It's toxic, becuase you allready take so much time to even catch someone (I don't count noob survivors that go down fast) and then you have to deal with that ******. That's why.

Also, NOED have counterplay, yes, it's still kind off easy perk to use and carry you ezi, but it has counterplay (destroy totems, that's not that hardcore, you can even use "Small game" for it). DS don't rly have counterplay. Only counterplay to DS is that DS user will get down within few meters from hook and you can pick him up and down, but still "bodyblock" says hello, so it can be denied.

There is a manual counter to D strike but not a lot of people use it because it’s so rare it wont work majority of the time, but if you time it exactly right and swing at the exact same time they hit the skill check and I mean it has to be spot on,  it move cancels D strike and doesn’t drop you, a friend of mine sent me the clip after a match they had and they weren’t in a being hooked animation and far from anything and it got canceled when it hit dead center, I tried it out as killer and it didn’t work for the longest time so I thought it was a fluke because you know how this game can be with bugs, but one day I nailed it dead on and the icon popped up on my screen but they didn’t drop.

So the killer has to hit a lullaby 5, invisible, small skill check that the survivor might not even hit? Holy [BAD WORD].

Classic survivor, dont even bother arguing

    Nah hes alright .

I have seen much worse survivors trust me.

I never even said it was a good counter lol I never said git gud or anything , just simply stating I’ve noticed that I didn’t make the counter don’t blame me
Honestly, if they just made all DS checks at the 40% wiggle mark, I'd be fine with the perk as-is.  At least then it could be countered effectively in many instances and would be more of a risk/reward to run it.
then you'll never get to use the perk unless they're taking you to a far away hook
Or if other survs body block or distract.  Or if you make it a point not to go down right next to a hook, etc.  I see it as being similar to ruin in the risk/reward arena - 1/10 matches it is super powerful and the other 9 it's either "meh" or totally useless.

I hope not, but let's face - it takes a certain personality to find facecamping (or hard camping or whatever you want to call it) fun, and those personality types won't be disuaded by anything.  Hopefully, the OP will enjoy actually playing DBD instead of a crotch-watching simulator.
  • Esheon said:
You're definitely coming at this from the right direction. As @Spiritbx stated though, in higher ranks most of the players are good runners. Sometimes you will have to just commit to the chase.

You and your friends have exactly the right response to camping. Punish the killer by making sure he only gets one kill.

As for the "why should I care?" question, you shouldn't. Ignore the other side's version of the rules, and play the way that is most rewarding to you. Me, I like to punish farming and selling other people out by going after the offender. Others might just take the free hit/hook. Play how you like.

I will give one benefit to allowing unhooks, though. If you're good enough; if you get more chases, more hits, and more hooks, you get more points. Sometimes camping is the right move, sometimes patrolling, and sometimes just moving on to the next target.
    This^.
I would add that camping the first hook, or hard camping at any point prior to the exit gates being open, is more or less guaranteed to result in a lousy score for you and a lot of survivor salt.  Patrolling nearby gens and staying near-ish the hook without camping it, on the other hand, almost always results in a lot more points, a lot more chases and, IMO, a lot more fun.

  • Tunnelling, camping and looping are all common complaints and there is no convincing the people complaining that there is any validity to those strategies.  As a survivor, I dont get mad at the killer for tunnelling - that's just optimal strategy.  If two adversaries can do equal damage to you, you target the weaker on first.

What I do get upset about is other survivirs feeding me to the killer to be tunneled.  If the killer isn't busy and you unhook someone, at least take a hit for them to give them a chance to run.  It's common courtesy, people.

It's not a new term. It was used concurrently with facecamping to reflect the type of camping that is now referred to as facecamping by those who don't know what facecamping actually means.
