Gave 100 BP on breaking? This would at least offset their ability to act as a third health state against certain killers.5 comments 121 views last activity

So I've been thinking about this for a long while now - I enjoy what MMR has done for the game (compared to ranks) as an intermediate player, but it has it's own problems that have eventually resulted in me taking some time away (aside from logging on for Christmas presents!). Let's go through them. Inversion. By this I mean that the rewards of winning under MMR are somewhat inverted when yo1 comments 51 views last activity

So, it's come to this. As much as I like this game, it has started to become just...too much. For every 2 good games I have (win or lose) it feels like every third game is against either a team of newbies, a team of people way better than me or TTV stompcomp with 5-10x the hours I have that just rolls me and BMs me the entire time. You know what I mean. Those folks that will 99% the final gen28 comments 482 views last activity

Okay granted, I mostly play killer - so many some of you survivor veterans can explain this sort of oddness. Situation 1: I give you gate. Before leaving, you give me a final hit (cool) and put down your toolbox/medkit/flashlight. Why do you leave your items behind? Situation 2: I'm chasing you, you are doing decently - but then you jump off a ledge (without balanced landing) giving me an insta10 comments 121 views last activity

You know what I mean. The killer you always default to, and on bad games makes you go 'man, I wish I was playing x'. For me, as much as I like Artist, Doctor, Demo (Demo is a close second here) and Cenobite (RIP) - Hag will always be my muse. I almost never have a Hag game where I feel helpless, and when I lose it's generally a matter of 'if I hadn't made those mistakes, I could have won'. Gen22 comments 221 views last activity

I'm not going to get into super specifics (don't want to spread this) but it involves a sequence of stairs and vaults that makes you able to loop the majority of killers (including Nemesis) for upwards of a minute with no obvious counterplay or risk. And it's super easy to access from anywhere on the map. Ran into it today and...yay. Now we have a Tower of Pain.13 comments 261 views last activity

So, as I mentioned in another thread recently - the #1 thing getting me down about this game at the moment, more than the balance issues, more than my MMR gripes, more than frigging Dead Hard and CoH combined - it's just how absolutely meanspirited some players tend to be. You'll play as fair as possible despite it being a rough matchup, or at times even let people farm, only to get teabagged fr62 comments 531 views last activity

Weak? I mean, she's not raw-terrible like a few other killers, but the loss of her 'bird mines' hurt her more than I thought it would. It's entirely possible that I just need to l2p, but a few observations: Her addons seem rather mediocre. Especially the purples and iris - the drawbacks are insane when compared to their benefits. Her yellows, greens and browns are functional, but boring. I58 comments 1,951 views last activity

So, actually had mostly really good games this evening. Really close, really even. Won some, lost some, even had 1 where I gave 2 people gate after someone DCed on first down and was thanked for it in postgame (the fact that this is rare speaks...volumes for the average behavior of survivor players, at least at my MMR). Then I hit that game. You know... that game. Playing Demo. Ironworks (it'42 comments 1,171 views last activity

So, you're walking through Yamaoka and find a lamp. You rub it and out pops the BHVR development team! They offer you 3 wishes, so long as those wishes are related to Dead by Daylight. What would they be? For me: An Artist skin that turns her into an anthropomorphic crow. Being able to see my MMR, the MMR of my opponents and all gains/losses postgame. Weird, I know - and some stuff might need a mild nerf (although...honestly probably not much) but this would offset a lot of the issues killer players are facing right now and would open up an enormous number of fun, potential builds.48 comments 331 views last activity

For me it's Demo. He is just a ton of fun to play. Good addons, good 'feel', lots of entertaining moments but wow does he get shut down hard by people that know how to loop. Pig is similar, but I find her a bit too depressing to play. Just reduce her TR to 24 and buff her addons and she'd be fine. Cenobite...oof. He was fun to play with his nuttier addons but they took a blowtorch to them.50 comments 471 views last activity

Title. I've sort of noticed this recently. Some killers, regardless of match or relative power, make me play differently. If I'm playing Pig, Cenobite, Plague or Demogorgon I tend to be a lot chiller. I'll often let people farm, I'll almost always give someone hatch/gate and I generally won't be especially sweaty. I'll sometimes feel legitimately bad if I'm destroying the other team. However,19 comments 211 views last activity

Well, it's been a rough morning. It's actually usually a rough morning. I'll play a few games to wake up and get the blood moving, and fortunately I have help. I'm not quite sure what's going on to be honest. At most points of the day, MMR seems to work well. I get relatively even matches for the most part and don't seem to have many games, win or lose, where I can't do anything. The morni18 comments 151 views last activity

The lockers at the bottom of the 'main building' - if you can bait the killer to down you as you come out of one, you can lodge yourself 'between' the lockers and it's impossible for the killer to pick you up. You are still able, however, to be healed by other survivors.0 comments 11 views last activity

Over the past few days, I'm sure we've all seen the various 'Otz hates MMR see video' threads and - catching up on one of his streams recently, I just want to put this thing to bed once and for all. For those who don't know. Otzdarva is one of the most prolific and influential DbD streamers around, with an amusing 666k on Twitch alone and YouTube videos that rack up views in the millions. Had a pretty good week, almost no DCs. Today - survivor or killer, someone DCs pretty soon after the game gets going. My last 3 killer games in particular have had someone leave almost as soon as the match started. My last one had everyone DC shortly after loading in, one by one. Do people just really not want to face Pinhead today? Maybe I should go back to Hag...18 comments 151 views last activity

Title is a bit clumsy, but you get my point. The crux of the SBMM debate essentially boils down to the following: Before the change, high MMR people would face a much wider variety of opponents, most of them much less skilled. It's what made those amazing 50-100 wins in a row 'streak' videos possible. This allowed them to engage in a lot more meme games and to play around with different builds37 comments 331 views last activity

Maybe a silly question - just trying to plan my day out tomorrow as I've got a lot of things to take care of and do want to squeeze a few games in early morning if I can. If it only starts at noon or something, I can sleep in :)2 comments 111 views last activity

I get that you are supposed to rate players you enjoyed playing against - but for what purpose? Is there some way that they can see them? Is this just some sort of metric on BHVR's side? I occasionally make use of it and then completely forget it exists.15 comments 1,481 views last activity

So I've been watching a lot of streams, listening to a lot of discussions and trying to puzzle out this whole SBMM fiasco. As per my other thread, I'm...mostly a fan. It sometimes does really odd things, but for myself, as an intermediate level player, it's been a godsend. But then why do a lot of high MMR types really dislike it? This is going to be a little convoluted, but give it a read. I25 comments 361 views last activity

As in - despite the things you dislike, what keeps you playing? For me: Good matches can be really memorable. The occasional bit of really entertaining emerging narrative. I like the variety of killers and perks. I wish survivor perks changed up the game more (killer perks have tons of risk/reward/counterplay). The music is incredible. The community out of game is pretty damn great. Som17 comments 191 views last activity

I know that it sometimes does weird things and pairs experts with newbies (and sometimes throws me to the multi-thousand-hour SWF monsters) - but compared to what this was like when I first started playing? It seems that most killers fit into one, sometimes two of these 'classes'. Bubba, Billy etc. = Power. They chase hard, hit hard and rely on brute force. Ghostface, Myers etc. = Agility. They are sneaky, speedy and rely on surprise and/or stealth. Slinger, Trapper, Hag etc. = Tactics. They rely on 'zone' control and disrupting survivors from range. Of course, some don't fit neatly into one.11 comments 112 views last activity

Seriously, what a misery that was. Had a feeling it was going to be an ugly game when I spotted the obvious premade in the lobby. End up on Ironworks, playing Demo. Very tough game, finally get 2 survivors dead and I'm left with a very decent 3gen. So...do the Ash and the Meg try to be smart? Lead me off? Not talking about which side it favors - which map is the best designed or your personal favorite/bugbear for whatever reason? For me: Best Yamaoka: This map just oozes atmosphere. Tons of fun little easter eggs and novel features. It's big and dense enough to give survivors a chance, but it's not overpoweringly huge (Ormond) or filled with pseudo-infinites and obnoxious chains of safe vault18 comments 171 views last activity

Man, this would be such a gift. I'd be able to put together far more creative builds without worrying about a mandatory slot to help make the grind a bit better. It's absolutely nutty that I can throw 4m BP into a killer and still not unlock all the perks I want to experiment with. Thoughts?11 comments 131 views last activity

Just curious as to how the members of this little forum community shake out in this regard. How do you estimate the time is split between killer/survivor? I'm at 239 hours played. About 90% killer, 10% survivor.45 comments 591 views last activity

This game sometimes feels like a machine designed to produce rage and frustration, but every so often you'll run into a match that makes you feel all fuzzy. Last night - I got queued into an odd group. There was one extremely experienced Nancy who somehow got paired with a Dwight and an Ash who were clearly very new. There was also a Zarina who knew what she was doing - but after I got 3 hooks20 comments 211 views last activity

Or do you take a more balanced approach? These days, I'm leaning more away from regression perks in general, as I find that a lot of the time, Ruin can be inconsistent and if I'm struggling enough to want the regression, Pop is of limited help. Instead I'm leaning more towards an information heavy, maximum offense/pressure build and just straight unga-bunga'ing it. Nothing gets people off gens48 comments 331 views last activity

I'm not even talking about survivor/killer 'favor' here. I dread seeing this map more than even Haddonfield or Badham these days. Even now that I mostly know my way around (although I certainly still get turned around sometimes) it can be very difficult to pressure gens due to how much ground I need to cover between them and how counterintuitive the routes are, especially against savvy survivo58 comments 892 views last activity

What's yours? Forget power level - what 'build' do you always enjoy the most? So, this has been annoying me for a bit now. Some killers just...struggle to earn as much BP as other killers. It has mostly to do with the values assigned to 'power' events - for instance a Wraith getting a hit out of cloak, or Pinhead hitting a chained survivor. I decided to test it a bit, on Plague (which a lot of people say is a weak 'earner') and the Cenobite, who I've always considered a11 comments 141 views last activity

If I recall, these were the two least played killers by a fair margin, and from what I've seen over the past while, people still aren't playing them much. Hag...I somewhat understand, as CoH booners give her a rough time and her tactical style certainly isn't for everyone, but Plague? Plague is a monster now. Great addons that actually give her entirely new playstyles, very smooth gameplay, inc36 comments 621 views last activity

Had a game this evening on Bubba, against an SWF. They would always and immediately run me directly to the house with the basement, DHing for distance if needed. It's a bit hard to describe the house accurately - 2 windows on the ground floor and a 'U' shaped flight of stairs heading down into the basement. No matter what I tried, I couldn't catch them. After Legion, which seems to be at least semi-confirmed as the next reworked killer (please keep the fun addons at least!) which killer should be up after that? I'd like to see: Pyramid Head. With how incredibly important being able to locate your quarry by sound alone is, it's odd to me that some killers (Demogorgon in particular, who constantly sounds like he's eating pizza) make such a large amount of ambient noise from the killer's POV. Plague, when she's full of the red yummy is understandable - but on others, there is a huge difference between, say, Demo and the whisper-quiet P9 comments 251 views last activity

I've been playing quite a lot this week and have had some periods of good games, and some weird ones. I've also noticed a handful of...quirks with the MMR system. Let me know if you've had experiences similar/contrary to these: genuinely curious. Sometimes feel genuinely bad when, after the enemy team has a rough game/a DC and everyone else is eliminated, I want to give the last player the hatch. However, they frequently run off in the complete opposite direction, with me chasing after and trying to herd them like a spiky Border Collie. Have you ever had any AITA (Am I The... <cough> Jerk) moments recently? Just had a pretty odd game. SBMM is doing it's thing again and I get queued into a pretty damn good 4man SWF. So, as I'm finally creeping up on the big 300 (hours played, probably 225 or so of those on killer), I frequently see survivors do things that I just...don't understand. Maybe you can help me.
