  • Well, I got totally outplayed this evening. A Yun would constantly lead me on some crazy chases, only to somehow slip away at the last second. She'd run to a locker, I'd hear the door, open it and...no Yun. Zuh? Finally, I spotted her doing it in a chase - she'd just touch the locker, then walk away. Foxed me more times than I'm proud of. Another great one - I'm playing Pinhead (really tryi

  • I know a lot of people are down on the new SBMM system, but as someone who learned the game during the 'ranks' era, it's so much better now. Rather than every game being a complete crapshoot, usually involving me getting skunked by SWFs with thousands of more hours played than me, I now get a good match maybe 60% of the time. The other 40% of the time...something's up. It'll routinely put me u

  • I can't think of any other killer that was as much of a fustercluck as Pinhead has been. First they removed all his voicing without adding anything to replace it (stealth buff, makes it really easy to hear footsteps and groans, unlike the permanently pizza-eating Demogorgon). Then the NFT debacle, meaning that a lot of streamers are deliberately avoiding him to dodge the potential drama. He di

  • I can already see your mouth opening to say 'wat'. Just hear me out. Recently, we saw a pretty big nerf to Wraith. The reasons given was that he was 'overperforming' at lower levels of play and too easy to do well with. No matter that he was low-mid tier at high levels of play - by old statements, BHVR doesn't balance around high level play. Now, we are seeing...bizarre nerfs to Cenobite addon

  • EDIT: Wow, this post turned out to be nearly prophetic. Sometimes I hate being right. RIP Pinhead, you poor man. As much as I like this game, it's rough being a killer main. You are constantly expected to adhere to an unspoken and often inconsistent 'code of conduct'. You aren't supposed to do everything within your power to win. Camp, tunnel, play the wrong killer, bring the wrong perks, br

  • Just had a hilarious match. So, after getting matched against three extremely good full SWFs in a row, I queue up and see a full SWF of barcodes, two with legacy skins. I go 'nope, hackers' and dodge the lobby. I queue up again and get another full SWF. Fine then. I grab my nastiest addons and perks. I've got everyone on their second hook before they get their second gen done. Obviously just

  • It's been another odd night, and I wonder if the MMR system has been disabled again. So many weird matchups against multi-thousand hour premades. ALL the clicky clicky macros you can imagine. Fortunately I'm playing a lot of Pinhead and have a decent stockpile of The Addon Combo That Shall Not Be Named, and there are few things more gratifying than 3 or 4king these groups. But in two of these,

  • Don't worry, nothing too serious. We just need to establish some ground rules here. Feel free to add your own (curious what survivors have to say to killers). If I down you and chase someone else, you crawl off and hide and I can't find you, don't complain that I didn't pick you up. If I patrol back past a hook on my way to the next gen, that's not camping. Neither is seeing you on your way to

  • While it's extremely easy to show disrespect/BM (hitting a survivor on hook, teabagging and flicking) I wish there were ways to conduct a more positive, useful or constructive meaning in the game. For instance: "Hey, well played". "Yeah well looped, now it's on". "Just do the damn gen, you've had a DC and I'm trying to give you a chance". "I'm really trying to give you the hatch, stop strug

  • So, I started DbD just over a year ago - shortly before the Blight patch, if I recall. Loved the concept, got into it in a big way. Watched videos, read guides and started doing decently. Sunk almost 100 hours in before I knew it. Then BHVR removed killer matchmaking and after a week of being hammered flat and gloated at by SWF groups with thousands of more hours than me in the game, I quit.

  • Welp, this map should also have been paused. Found at least 2 spots in a game tonight where you can stick a blue totem and it's impossible for the killer to cleanse. Sigh.

  • Yeah, I can't stand this place. It looks so awesome, so lovingly designed - and such absolute BS for any immobile killer that I've started just AFKing out these matches. Yup. I'll even play out Haddonfield, for the most part, but RPD? Nope. Not even slightly sorry, had like 5 RPD offerings today and now that survivors are getting comfortable with the place, it's like trying to ice-skate uphil

  • Really love this guy, as Hellraiser is, next to The Thing, my favorite horror movie of all time. That said, his abilities really aren't well explained. What is the purpose of your chain summon? Is this ever worth using aside from scouting/a bit of BP? In a chase, even if it connects (really difficult on some maps) I find that the time I spent summoning and controlling it is - at best - a wash.

  • Have been trying to learn Demo for the past few days, really struggling - since your 'new' killers are tied to the MMR of your 'good' killer initially, I've been getting flattened. The problem - even after multiple games of 4 and 3 outs, I'm still facing 3-4man SWF groups, rocking legacy skins, meta perks and, of course, are inevitably BM. 'Lol EZ scrub uninstall games full' type messages. Thes

  • So this afternoon was a mess of deliberate DCs. Decided to give it a break and come back fresh this evening. And... Okay, so a bit of background. Trying to learn Demo. Really, really bad at him. Seldom do I manage to get more than 1 kill. But, gradually things evened out as I arrived at an MMR where survivors are pretty inexperienced too. Log on tonight and things went pretty crazy pretty fas

  • I seldom do, but there are 3 situations where I'll bail. If there are any .TTV named survivors in the lobby, particularly if there is more than 1. 9/10 times this is part of a premade, and almost always someone who smurfed their MMR down to stomp people to look better on stream. Plus, I end up getting nasty messages from their viewers if I somehow swing a win. Just not worth the hassle. Surviv

  • So, as I gradually get better (now at a point where I'll happily call myself 'intermediate') I'm starting to notice some weird idiosyncrasies with how survivors play. The one that completely baffles me though is that, when I go to hook someone, there is another survivor who immediately crouches down by the hook. All that happens is that I hit them, I hang and then I usually chase them down and h

  • Look, I get it. Sometimes you get a game where you are outclassed, have a potato teammate or a killer/map you don't enjoy facing but seriously - this is out of hand now. Game 1: I play Hag. 2 gens pop in the distance before I see a survivor. One hits a trap, I tag them and manage to down them. They DC the second I pick them up. Next survivor does the exact same thing after I manage to catch them

  • What are they? For me (killer): NOED. There is almost no counterplay, and it encourages bad habits/is frustrating to go up against. Survivor: Adrenaline (same reason).

  • This has been on my mind a lot recently, as I've finally reached a sort of Zen - and now find playing killer a lot less stressful. Very curious as to your thoughts. This is not a typical APvP game. The solo role is absolutely not the power role, and going in expecting it to be is setting yourself up for frustration. Instead, I look at it as me playing the 'enemy' in a videogame. I'm not ther

  • You know, the ones that not many people play - but can be surprisingly effective. I'd say: Doctor. Wow, do I love this guy. He has a sonar ping that can get survivors off gens, the ability to disable pallet drops and vaults (that works maybe half the time even on a 50ms latency, but that's another story) and some genuinely nutty addons. Insanely oppressive in indoor, 'stacked' maps. Also someh

  • At least once every two or three matches, someone will DC the second I hook them. Sometimes on their third hook, sometimes the first. I don't camp, and I don't tunnel (although if I run into you, I'm taking the shot) - and I understand the psychology in situations like that, but I thought that there was a system to detect and punish repeated DCs? Just...why?

  • A lot of survivors complain, currently, about killers only running 1 of about 6-7 different perks. While I don't agree with Otz on everything (only basically everything killer related ^_^ ), he is one of the best killers out there, and he plays basically every killer and tries basically every perk combination. The vast, vast majority of killer perks are either 'mediocre' or 'terrible'. This is

  • So, apparently 1 kill is considered a 'win' and will increase my MMR. However, survivors escaping will lower my MMR? Does this mean that a single kill is considered a 'win state' for the killer, resulting in a net MMR gain, or a loss, resulting in a net MMR decrease? Any clarification would be appreciated.

  • What likely controversial but true things have you always wanted to say? For me: Something that was overpowered a year ago does not justify something else being overpowered now. The devs really need to come out and tell us what constitutes a win state for a killer. The Spirit nerf was probably needed. Wraith, Ghostface and Deathslinger's nerfs definitely weren't. Freddy needs better addons

  • I'll start. Nemesis: Empty Rocket Launcher (Uncommon). You now have 4 zombies active on the map, but you no longer gain mutation from killing zombies. Poisonous Hunter Claws (Uncommon). Infecting a survivor with your tentacle strike also injures them. Purified Virus (Common). Any survivor that is killed while infected spawns a zombie at their location. Hag: Human Effigy (Uncommon). • Yes, Chucky (although with that copyright being as much of a lightning rod as it is, I'm not sure on this one) and the inevitable FNAF-style killer, but I'm struggling to think of many others. Possibly a 'werewolf' archetype, a fire or an ice based killer or (if my dreams come true) a 'plant' themed killer...or an 'imposter' killer (The Thing). Or, hell, go full retro and give us a crawling bra

  • This is one of those things that becomes pretty awkward for me, as I do try to consider that there is a living, breathing human on the other end of those avatars. So - the situation. We've all been there. Game starts, I manage to catch someone and they rage DC. Possibly other players follow. Or more annoying, just goes and stands AFK next to a hook somewhere. • For whatever reason. For me: Survivor: Claudette. Not only are they inevitably the most BM player, for some reason, but nothing urinates directly into my favorite breakfast cereal like a Blendette that wants to play hide and seek and stall the match out. Killer: Doctor. I tend to startle easily, and this guy inevitably jumpscares me at least once a game. Also see: Spirit.

  • For whatever reason. Mine has to be a game from about a year ago, that prompted me taking a lengthy break from the game. I have a feeling that it was before the 'afk crows' were added. Was playing Bubba, enemy team was a full SWF. They switched to 4x Blendettes at the last second. Map was Haddonfield. I'm usually a 'good guy' killer - I won't usually tunnel or camp, unless you either start

  • So this is one of those topics that makes tempers flare. On one hand, the incredible advantage that an SWF group grants for survivors is hard to overstate. The game simply does not feel balanced around the level of coordination and information sharing that voicecoms, and a unified strategy provide. This is only going to get worse, with the upcoming changes. However, balancing killers around S

  • For me (killer main): Moris only function if a survivor has been hooked twice, and then downed. More of a visual 'fatality' and minor time saver than an instant kill. 'Kill x survivors by your hand' quests removed. Keys now only allow the survivor holding them to escape. SWF groups will now always face a killer of an equal or higher rank to the highest ranked survivor in the party. Not the l

  • What a miserable day it has been. Had the day off work and spouse is engrossed in a new book. Decided to hammer out some games today, get some practice in, maybe get a bit better at chases and try and get out of yellow ranks finally. Haha...no dice. I wish I was exaggerating when I say that today has been possibly the end of DbD for me, at least for the time being. So far today: 6 games put

  • Been thinking about this for a while, and actually had a lot of fun writing it. If you want to add something, feel free to do so below. This is essentially the code I'm trying to play by right now, as challenging as it can be sometimes. If you have a DC, a DOH or I'm absolutely skunking you, I will likely give the last 1 or 2 of you the game. It doesn't make a big difference to me in BP and I

  • Object is bad enough on an SWF group, but if you get multiple people with this sodding perk (as I've experienced today) - it completely and utterly negates most of my favorite killers. Also - is there a way for survivors to see what killer you are in lobby? I recall there being an old trick, but...wow. Every time I try Ghostface or Wraith, there are 2-3 people running this and I have an impossib

  • My options are: Wraith: I really, really have fun playing the bing bong boi despite him being...not very good. Plus his perks seem craptastic. Freddy: Quite powerful (although I don't see what all the complaints about, he certainly isn't Nurse). Sort of fun to play, but his perks are meh and I'm not a fan of his visuals. Ghostface: I love stealth killers, but he seems insanely fiddly. Actuall

I hear someone and stealth towards them - and I spy all four survivors sneaking along the edge of the map towards a building. I quietly join the conga line at the end. They don't notice me until we got down into that annoy

I like to be a speedy or at least surprising killer, not a walking sprinkler system. Trapper. It feels like a need a brain three sizes bigger to even grasp when and where to put those traps. Myers. • Watching an interesting video Tofu made about a month ago about this sort of issue. And boy, did he nail it. Essentially, killers are still expected to abide by an outdated code of honor, while survivors just...aren't. If one side is going to do everything possible to win, why are killers expected not to do the same? It would be wonderful if everyone cared more about having a fun game than wi

  • Seeing quite a few threads about this today where people got rolled and don't know what happened to them. What is a smurfcomp, you ask? Well, there's an old trick that has suddenly become so commonplace I'm seeing at least 1-2 a day now. If, say, 2 red rank survivors queue up with a buddy at level 15, they will get a much lower ranked killer to face (and easily stomp). As far as I know, there u

Usually an SWF group, running multiple Blendettes with a thick fog addon, who will *always* know where you are and will roam the map like sneaky little mechanic weasels chewing on gens or breaking totems until you arrive, in which case they just vanish off into the grass. Just had a misery of a match on Yamaoka where I lost 3 gens before I even saw a survivor. Even

  • For me: Remove instawin buttons, like keys and higher tier moris. Bring back some form of killer matchmaking. Preferably the old style where SWF groups would face a killer at least at the rank of the highest ranked player in the group. Reduce the size of the biggest maps by 20% or so.

I was put against a high ranked duo in SWF and two random low ranked people of the same rank as myself. After I hooked one early, he suicided on hook and the other rando DCed.
