"If another game manages to be DBD but better, I'm likely to move over to it"
Do you mean gameplay wise or just the amount of licenses? Either way you arent getting neither because there will never be another game like DBD.
Gameplay. Licenses are neat but I could play as Pinhead or his Dollar Store knockoff cousin NailFace the totally original character and be just as content.
I do however agree with you that it's very unlikely we're ever gonna get a game like this but is better. Which is why I continue to play this one.
-
I plan on using it until the only good part gets gutted and then go cold turkey from there.
I'm sure it'll take a few games to get used to not having it but being able to use a good perk instead should help that bitter medicine go down easier

Only reason I still play the game is the lack of a better one. That's it. As soon as I find another game to obsess over with an active community I'm done with DBD.
Honestly....kind of the same
DBD is a good game with a lot of flaws but it's still the best version of this kind of game you're going to get.
If another game manages to be DBD but better, I'm likely to move over to it

It's always neat to see forum members but my goldfish memory combined with I imagine many who don't use the same names means I'll likely never know it...

Just ...just this
The wolf at the end is the only reason I'm more convinced it's satire than not BUT the kind of person who would make a post like this unironically would also use that wolf like that unironically...
-
1000% agreed
A killer who wishes to camp and tunnel know who they're camping and tunneling. They're right there. They can see them. Stab the injured person.
When a few survivors have used BPS and I'm trying to hook each survivor twice, a counter would be REALLY handy as my equally goldfish brain forgets who I have and have not hooked (or it would have saved that poor bastard when five flans were used and they went into 2nd stage and I never noticed).
Hook counters will only help "nice" killers.

that´s beyond stupid, if you want to Kill survivors which is your role.
I'd rather have a close and hard fought 4 man escape than to get an easy 4K because I just tunneled the hell out of someone
A fun 4 man escape is better than an easy but boring 4K any day in my book
-
I try my best to 8 hook before I kill someone but I'm not going to go out of my way to do it, especially if other survivors are going to actively try to get in my way.

Bold of them to mock a Bubba to his (leather)face. It rarely ends well for at least one of you...

While I do think it is a heavy nerf, I don't think it's that bad for the perk. Once you get down to 3 survivors, either the game is almost done anyway as most gens are done or you're in such control at that point that the game is effectively over.
From a survivor viewpoint, Ruin being in play when one survivor died made the game near impossible to win. This will at least give survivors a fighting chance.

Humans need rewards. It's a dopamine thing. BBQ/WGLF stacks provided an obtainable, visible, and rewarding goal. A lot of matches are pretty miserable for both sides; players could focus on stacks as a goal and feel good about it.
All BHVR needed to do was make the rewards basekit and give us a little visual indicator of our stacks. It doesn't matter if they don't think we need the Bloodpoints: players need motivation. The devs focus on balance and the grind and forget about player psychology, rewards, and making things feel fun.
Humans badly designed, please rework them God

Yeah, I played killer for getting BBQ stacks. That was my win condition, that was my fun. I really dunno what I'm going to focus on without BBQ. Whenever I've played without BBQ in the past, I got really demotivated because hooks stopped mattering and I just kind of got bored with participating in matches or if I got annoyed I slugged everyone to death. "Hooking" as a gameplay mechanic is boring on its own.
Maybe I'll just go back to Dying Light and making zombie heads explode. At least that's satisfying.
That is actually a weirdly valid point
When I play new characters that don't have BBQ unlocked, I get weird about not seeing my stacks. Like...I don't know how many stacks I have and it makes me fidget like a crackhead who is coming down and can't afford his next hit until tomorrow.
I'm not even all that sure why. I have BP coming out my BH so I don't really NEED BP. BBQ is just a fun and easy way to track if I'm "winning"

I did a poll a while back with a good number of respondents asking if people would still use BBQ if it didn’t have its bloodpoint bonus. The replies were split roughly 50/50 on people saying they would no longer use the perk versus continuing to use it. Also someone did a similar poll today and got 60% of people saying they use it mainly for bloodpoints and 40% using it for aura reading or aura reading plus bloodpoints.
And I’m not disagreeing with you that other perks are better aura reading. I don’t use it personally for that reason. But there’s definitely a core base of users out there that really like BBQ just for its ability to give auras after every hook. They think it’s useful because it’s predictable and consistent and the info is useful, especially for killers that have the map mobility to act on long range auras.
Huh ...fair. Strange but fair :D

I don’t use BBQ, but to be clear about half the people who do use it use it for its aura and not the bloodpoints. So it will see less use but there are definitely people who will still use it just for its other effect.
What makes you think that? At least anecdotally, it seems like most people on the forums (myself included) run BBQ strictly for the BP bonus and the aura reading is gravy (or at least that's what people say).
Certainly not impossible there's more who run it for the aura but it feels like it's one of the worst info perks you can run.

We're very aware of that (we actually mentioned exactly that in the dev update). However, we do not want people to always have one perk slot locked in just for bloodpoints. Your perk choices should be the perks you want to run, not the ones that make the grind manageable. There was very little reason to run other aura reading perks when this one gave both information and doubled your bloodpoints.
We made sure to pair this with a huge grind reduction and new ways to earn bloodpoints to compensate, but this is ultimately a step that we need to take.
I get the why, I'm just very surprised you didn't add anything to bbq when taking away the BP part. The BP part for I imagine most is the only only reason to run it over any other info perks so getting rid of that part while changing nothing else feels like it'll dagger anyone ever wanting to use that perk again.
Just surprised you wouldn't add something to it to make it worth running
-
Without the bonus, I see zero reason to ever put BBQ on again. There are plenty of perks that give you information but are better.
I'm very surprised BHVR killed the BP bonus as it can't be a secret that most killers run it for that, not the pitiful information you get that is still super easy to counter...
-
It's true, I am routinely miserable playing this. But I also hate myself so I deserve it!
-
You probably should be. We all saw how Boil Over went and that was a single perk change at one time.
Obviously I greatly enjoy the game (I wouldn't be here if I didn't) but my faith that BHVR won't massively screw this up is incredibly low.
Hope I'm wrong but I'm expecting an absolute S Show for the next few months once these changes are made.
-
Survivors find him boring to go against and instead of just accepting that sometimes you play a killer you don't find super exciting, they throw a fit and ruin the game for four players
-
I mean, if the zed is literally stuck, chalk it up to getting BHVR'ed. Otherwise you just gotta lead it away a few feet

Ooooh I'm gonna getcha tee hee!

If survivors haven't won the game after using 30+ pallets, they don't deserve to win as a team. I'll agree that some maps are definitely worse. At least the survivors theoretically can run out of resources on Gideon's Pallet Factory but there's very little that's more demoralizing then going 5 feet, pallet, 5 feet pallet.
This
You can literally do one chase and not catch someone for five gens as a M1 killer on that map as tile after tile has a safe pallet at it (and then when you finally manage to outsmart the survivor they press E and no you didn't I guess).
If I can kill a foursome on The Game, they were not a good foursome and I likely could have taken them out on any map.

Probably never, this isn't really up to BHVR but more up to the license holders sadly.
This and New Line Cinema I feel has burned this iteration of Freddy to the ground and salted the Earth and tried to do the Men in Black memory wipe trick to get everyone to forget that it existed.

Kinda sus fam, ngl

Bubba is ALWAYS fun to play as
*Happy Chainsaw Screeching Noises*
Although I don't see the point of camping with him when I can run around and chainsaw more survivors instead of standing there and not chainsawing survivors

It's always great to get to show somebody the find out part when they F Around

The usual; I've killed everyone but the last person, whom I decide to give Hatch to. The Hatch person is (usually) fine with it but I've gotten some bitter as fuq peeps on their team message me for letting one go instead of everyone.

Is it only 120? I thought it was longer, like 180 seconds. Hmmm. Guess the first one isn't very viable
According to The Internet Dot Com, it is 2 minutes long. Though granted that can extend when someone's hooked or slugged
-
Isn't EGC only 120 seconds long? I feel like blocking the gates for 160 seconds (minimum) is a fuzz OP...
I must be misunderstanding here
-
How did you get screenshots like that? That's cool as hell looking.
-
It can be frustrating but the entitled part is that you have determined that other people need to play the way you want them to play because you want something. Doesn't matter what they want, it's what YOU want that is important here.
-
...mate, trying this achievement during the event is the worst possible time to do it. People aren't going to think "Oh we've all got Super BP right now, I can let him kill me!", they're gonna think "What a tryhard jerk. I'm going to make sure he doesn't get to actually kill me. What kind of a troll brings that kind of thing during Super BP Time?!?!".
For the achievement itself, I got super lucky that a survivor took pity on me. My second game trying it, I murdered 3 of the 4 and had a Feng dead to rights. For some reason, the game did a lunge stab when I was next to her instead of Mori Stab. I was crushed. I picked her up and let her wiggle off knowing I'd have like...ten seconds left on my clock before my T3 ran out. Bless her heart, she wiggled free and then just stood there, offering herself up so I could get my achievement.
Whoever you were Bunny Feng, I salute you.
-
I booped a snoot at the EGC. They still killed me.
Clearly I did it wrong and I take full responsibility
-
I absolutely take my foot off the gas for these kinds of events but I also recognize that not everyone has that same mindset.
While it would be nice if there weren't absolute jerkfaces who go into the events with the intention of ruining the games, I also kind of accept that those kinds of players are in the game regardless of Events or not and they're part of the package you get when you play DBD. Personally, while annoying, I figure I'm always gaining more always playing my flans and getting normal or nice matches than I lose if I decide to hoard the flans because jerkfaces ruin a few games.

You only have to censor the names if you shame them in any way, which he didnt.
Well at the time I had no idea what his image was or really what the thread was about. Whether he was using Chad as in "awesome dude" or Chad as in "meatheaded moron".
In this case, I...think it's awesome dude? I'm honestly not 100% sure :D
Using No Mither and Self Care together and calling someone a Chad over it...like, I could see this thread going either way with the Chad name.
-
Your image is broken but to pre-emptive strike if you didn't, don't have names in your screenshots or it'll be against the Name & Shame rules and your thread will go Bye Bye

Since you're not here, I will tell her that it is from you. Hopefully that will be enough to placate her rage.

Agreed
Thankfully I've yet to get a jerkface person (on either side). Not everyone has played Flans/BPS/Anniversary Cakes but every game there are at least two in play and so far at least, no one has tunneled or gen rushed as fast as possible.
Personally I'm trying to do my part. I have killed three survivors total in about a dozen games (one person suicided, one person I must have gone into Stage 2 and I didn't notice because I only hooked them once and the third killed themselves when the one person died but neither of them brought flans so I don't feel too bad about it).
As a survivor, I just mainly play normal. I haven't had to do it yet but I do intend to let myself get hooked if I have gone unhooked the entire game.

If you're scoring less as the killer it's means you're a pretty bad killer. You'll have the odd match where it happens, but it should never be consistent.
As harsh as it is, this
Even in my worst games as killer, I generally am near or at times above what survivors do. So many survivor things (namely Altruism and Boldness) are so dependent on the killer doing things to the survivors that it is damn difficult to score less than a survivor without an absolute S show of a game.
There absolutely should still be a discussion about BP in this game (neither side gets enough BP considering the damn grind of this game) but something is going very wrong in your games if you as the killer are consistently getting less BP than a survivor.
-
I killed a survivor :(
I had hooked them once but they must have slipped into second stage and I didn't notice or I somehow lost track that I had hooked them twice at that point (it was still early in the game and I had 3 hooks total at the time so I'm pretty confident they went into 2nd stage and I just didn't notice it).
Then I killed another one who gave up and just kept pointing to the hook.
Thankfully neither of them used flans so I don't know feel too bad over it. The other two got to farm a bit and make use of their flans so it worked out.
-
You have the find the invitation to collect a mask
They're just kind of around the map while you're playing.
-
Anniversary Events is one time I really wish that you got to see who brought what offering
"4 Flans guys, which one of you little snots brought the damn Chalk?!?!?! No one wants to eat chalk!!!!"
-
It's still day 1 people (or at least not 24 hours).
I imagine the vast majority of the playerbase is still doing their own individual totem challenges and even now, there's still a decent chunk taken out of the community challenge.
I don't get why there is such a panic that these are not doable...
