What does Holly think about this topic? A picture is worth a thousand meows. 😏

Holly loves BBQ and Chilli cause it let's her find her next victim very easily. It's almost too easy for her!

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3062983/#Comment_3062983

Just because she is a nice kitty but doesn't want to derail a thread with her viciousness, here's a pic I just posted in Off Topic

  • Holly is not cute or cuddly! She's a cold blooded killing machine!!!

    PXL_20220514_144647552.jpg

    FEAR HOLLY!!!!

  • I've softened on my thinking that I'd never run BBQ again. While losing the BP sucks, this might inadvertently buff BBQ as players start to not assume BBQ is in play.

As others stated, habit is hard to break so people who hide from it might still for a while but eventually people will let their guard down to it.

Also I find it funny that they're complaining about BBQ. It's so easy to take out of play and even if you do get "spotted" by it, you have plenty of time and warning to run away. Just a strange one to whine about.

of course bonus points for everyone showing their pets as well (honorable mentions to @Huge_Bush @tippy2k2 and @Wrecked but as i said, very bad with names and there are definitely others)

WE DID IT HOLLY!!! BRIBERY WORKS!

  • I've heard middle to bad things about it :D

I'll still probably watch it because I'm a sucker for zed stuff but I'm going in with pretty low expectations after that crappy animated TV Show Netflix made...

"That is not my job." Waves index finger back and forth.

Yes and I stand by it

Being on console, I'm not exaggerating that it is faster for me to play an entire second match than it does to fill out that reporting stuff. I need to record the game on my Xbox, upload the video to Twitter, go to my computer, rip the video from Twitter to my computer since you can't just link to the video, write down the Cloud ID of the offending party and really hope I don't get one letter wrong since I can't copy/paste it over, write down my Cloud ID and really hope I don't get one letter wrong since I can't copy/paste it over, and then finally submit it.

If the report function wasn't such a convoluted mess, I'd be perfectly fine with hitting the report button and letting BHVR deal with it but it's not.

  • Personally I don't report because it shouldn't be my job to police their game

If it was as easy "click the thumbs down" button, then yeah, I'm totally on board with reporting. But it takes longer to report a game than it does to play the next game and I'm not using my free time to police their game

So it's not that I'm skeptical that BHVR doesn't take action, I just don't feel like I should have to do all the work to report that BHVR requires me to do so I don't.

  • As tempting as it is to just let them die and/or refuse to heal them, I'm not quite at "cutting my nose to spite my face" levels of hatred for it.

That being said, if later in the game there comes a time when it's a risk for me to come save them, I won't do it. I'm just opening that gate and leaving since you're so independent that you want to pull yourself off the hook like that...

  • 14 seconds to give everyone on your team a beefed up Self Heal with one single perk between the four of you

Because your point 2 seems to forget that you're not the only one that can use Circle of Healing

Like most perks, there are dumb ways to use it that make it hurtful to your team but short of being very dumb with Circle of Healing, there is very little downside to Circle of Healing

  • GGEZ

  • Similar except I was the not so clutch person.

EGC and I am on the hook (first hook). My fellow survivor grabs me and we're bolting to the exit gate. I look behind me to see where Nemesis is and just get clotheslined by a zed that I didn't hear (or see since I'm looking behind me). And down goes Tippy...

    Oops

It kind of worked out though cause the survivor who grabbed me the first time did it again and this time I managed to dodge the zed! I pulled what is known as a Pro Gamer Move when I took a few steps to the left this time to go around it.

  • I am not but I've been playing so long that I have enough shards to never have to spend real money on an original character ever again.

But hey, maybe I'll actually consider possibly maybe actually using some of these things for a cosmetic. Maybe...

  • I don't know if it's my luck or my area or if everybody is secretly lying to make me feel bad but it is incredibly rare that I am either tunneled or camped (outside of EGC).

It certainly does happen but I think there's maybe one in ten games when I'm getting tunneled or camped (and I can't say for sure because I can't see everything but at the very least for camping, the same with my teammates).

Place a trap in front of the locker if they try to bait DS. Then go back and smack them when they come out.

Wait. Can you place a trap in front of a locker and then pull them out of while still standing in the trap, so that they fall on the trap after stunning you with DS, or do they have trap immunity after the DS stun?

I've never tried it myself but one of those "Three tips as a survivor against every killer!" videos on The Youtube I was watching when I was bored one day said that you get a few seconds of invincibility when you're dropped by any means (So presumably that includes DS) from being hit by a trap.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bXI_SuZUsA&t=25s

  • I play both sides and neither of those situations do I consider tunneling and I just roll my eyes and ignore them if anyone ever accuses me of doing that because there will be no talking it through with them

I prefer not to tunnel but if you're going to actively get in my way when I am trying to go for the unhooker, that's on you, not on me.

  • By the time it was over with, I was pretty relieved, NGL

I'm kind of dum when it comes to these timed events things and I played a lot more DBD in that time period than I normally would. For a few weeks, that's not so bad but I was really starting to find myself burning out towards the end.

  • pet the friend.png

If dogs weren't so much more work, I'd probably also have a dog but dogs are a lot more work and I am a very lazy person

  • Normally Holly won't work for free but she is a very empathetic kitty who understands that sometimes probono work to help a fellow cat lover takes priority over getting paid BP (plus I have a F ton of pics since we don't get a lot of codes lately; I've also kind of lost track of what have and haven't been posted so a repeat might be in here)

I understand the wanting for kittens over older cats. People are naturally more compassionate towards babies of any species and the idea of getting a baby cat and raising it and bonding with it for their whole life. It sucks for older cats but it is what it is. I just wish people would stop buying from breeders, let them all go out of business and adopt spayed and neutered cats from shelters.

I love animals more than I do most people, I'd always try to help one if I can. This mamma cat didn't deserve the crap life she had and I just couldn't turn my back on her. Her personality did a complete flip and she's become a sweet heart. She's not a lap cat, but she does sit at my feet or on the towel I keep for her on my desk. She always comes to welcome me when I come home from work and she's finally started purring on a consistent level. She never purred when we first got her all the way up until close to giving birth. She can be grumpy, but shes my cute little grumpy cow.

As for the babies, the twins were just given to their new owner less than 10 minutes ago. I'm somewhat of a mess, but not as bad as I thought. I had a little cry (I'm considered an old man, so I can't cry too much, though I did cry) and I want to go lay down but I'm happy to know that I didn't have to put them in a shelter and the the new owner seems to be a really kind and loving cat mom.

It was sweet though, because the momma cat and the siblings came to comfort me while I broke down a little. She rubbed against my legs and let me hold her while the other babies came for pets and sat on my shoulders.

Now I have to wash everything to get their scent out and hope the mother cat easily moves on.

If it makes you feel better about the momma moving on part, I actually asked the place I was adopting from about that (since they still had one of her kittens and I felt it was cruel to "rip the family apart" even though 4/5ths of the kittens were gone). They told me that in the wild, at approx 3-4 months, a momma cat would ditch her kittens at that point anyway.

So if your primary concern here is the mom getting depressed or something, that's not something you really need to worry about. I don't know if that's helpful or not but that's what I was told by the rescue and made me feel much better about taking Holly and ditching Roo (sorry Roo, hope the family that snagged you up later is good to you but I didn't want a kitten).

  • Killing a Bully SWF Squad, ideally doing it via Bloodwarden because the bully squad decided to constantly mock you in the EGC and you managed to catch one out of position at about the 60 second mark and then you go to watch them all run around like idiots until the sweet tentacles of death came to crush them like the cockroaches that they are...

Literally like....85% the reason I run Bloodwarden still even though it so rarely comes in handy. When it DOES come in handy though...

I am only allowed up to two cats. My roommate rescued the mother from a horrible person and gave me the option of adopting her or he would take her to a shelter. I felt bad because we fostered her for a few months prior, to give her original owner some time to get his issues in order and I got attached. I didn’t know how bad he was, otherwise I’d never let him have her back.

He ended up leaving her locked in his home for almost two weeks with no food and water while he went out of town to chase drugs and a woman he met online. When my roommate heard what he was doing he went and broke a window to get her out.

I ended up deciding to keep her. I let her go outside when she wanted because I felt sorry and I was hoping she’d have babies. Someone on here warned me it would be better to spay her because shelters are already filled with kittens and I agreed to, but it was too late, the little cow was already preggo.

She gave birth to them three months ago. And from my research they’re at the best size to adopt out. In order to keep the ones in the picture, I’d have to rehome the mother, which would just make me feel super guilty because I learned from my roommate that she spent most of her life hiding under a bed or behind furniture. Heck, the other day her previous owner came knocking on the door and when she heard his voice she immediately started growling and ran to my bed and hid under my blanket. I can’t let her end up in a shelter and people don’t generally want to adopt an adult cat.

Here is a pic of the family:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/N4Y0HL43I7VS/bfb7cd8e-3bb4-44fd-8939-737c989f3a00.jpeg

Mom is on the far right.

Yeah, kittens go way faster than adult cats. Holly (my cat, though I imagine everyone on this board knows that by now :D) was an adult when I adopted her. She had five kittens and four of the five kittens were snatched up immediately while she and for some reason one of the other kittens went unadopted for a few months just because most people want kittens, not adult cats (the last kitten did go a week after I snagged up Holly).

That's good of you to have stepped in like you did. You walked in knowing it would hurt and you did it anyway. Those cats are all going to have much better lives than they would have had you not done that.

  • Please God no

You get stuck on random crap all the damn time on console as killer when it's random jostling, I can't imagine what it would be like if survivors could actually actively throw me into obstacles, especially if they have Boil Over...

I haven’t named them due to the fact that I have 5 of them and their mother and knew that if I named them I would get too attached. I’m now sad because I found these two a new owner who is coming by on Monday to pick them up and all I want to do is cry while holding them.

Are you moving or why do you have to get rid of your kitty cats? :(

Although if you have five of them, I would have assumed someone gave birth but those don't look like kittens.

  • A lot of the survivor dailies, just like the Archive challenges, kind of suck

They're almost always a huge time sink, either because you have to do one thing a bunch of times or you have to do something like being the one who opens the exit gate and it's not always a good idea for you to do that (how many times have I 99'ed the damn gate only to have someone else snag it because I went to help the person being chased instead of just opening the gate and leaving...).

I suppose though that is just like the killer v survivor dailies/archive challenges. I've always found the killer stuff far easier just because you as the killer had the agency in the match to do your challenges where so many survivor challenges rely on someone else doing something for you to react to.

  • You...want the survivors to stop trying to stop you from killing them?

I suppose it doesn't hurt to ask but I have a feeling the survivors will say No

  • 36-24-36? Ha ha, only if he's 5'3"

  • I'd take some non-binary finery if that is what BHVR wishes to create

I'm not a big fan of companies forcing it (since that almost always makes it just awful as companies trying to force it don't care and companies that don't care will just be sure it checks all the boxes and send them out without a worry of quality) but BHVR at least on the surface seems committed to doing it and doing it right.

Probably just an overload of THC, tbh, that makes every game super chill.

There are definitely games where I have to play sweaty or whatever, but that doesn't mean it was a bad or unfun game.

I agree with your points about memory and confirmation bias, though - easy to filter out the good in favor of the bad.

It doesn't help too that many only have so much time to play. Like my example was 1 customer out of 100 but if you're a full time student or worker or whatever real life things suck away your time, you might only get a few games in.

If one of your three games you get to play because you only have 45 minutes of free time is ruined by someone face camping you or dealing with a bully squad, that's a lot of your little free time being burned being miserable. Hyperbole or not, many are going to just abandon a game rather than play a game where 1/3 of their time is ruined.

  • You're just super good!

Honestly, I imagine it's partially bias. Kind of like customer service jobs, you don't remember the 99 customers who were fine but it is burned into your brain that you never want to do a service job again because of that one time you dealt with MEGA KAREN and it ruined your damn week.

Most customers are not Mega Karen but they're the ones you remember. I imagine most games are not against face camping killers and Seal Team Bully Squad Six but those are the games that imprint on your mind and ruin your week.

  • Keep in mind the little globe thing pops up for different PC launcher things too so if you were Steam, they were Epic. Console peeps don't get end game chat.

Right now the only plans for bots are you’ll be able to set up custom matches against them. Hypothetically if those go well then I wouldn’t be surprised if they consider having bots replace disconnected players like DbD Mobile does. Either way I don’t think they’ll ever intentionally have bots in the main game lobbies.

I wouldn't think they would either but BHVR likes to BHVR things so it honestly wouldn't shock me...

  • I would quit playing the game if they replaced either side with bots in normal matches. I play multiplayer to play multiplayer. If I wanted to play against a machine, I've got plenty of singleplayer games I could play instead.

  • I ran into that yesterday. They even chose the damn map (the one with the big building in the center and you can run up the metal stairs to that upstairs room, they ran into the corner of the room every time where I physically could not get them to a hook fast enough Edit: Googled it, THE MACMILLAN ESTATE when you get RNG'ed and get no hook or basement in the main building) and ran up there. They knew exactly what they were doing.

I don't think I'd call it an exploit since it's within the rules of the game and designed that way in the same way that when I babysat them for four minutes to bleed them out for their sins wasn't an exploit either.

It's a lot rarer now with the Boil Over nerf but is absolutely still happens.

  • When BHVR was redoing the animations, they stated they tweaked it around a bit to make it feel satisfying with one of their main examples of this being tbagging.

So I wouldn't hold your breath over it

  • As a few others have stated, custom game bots are good, bots in normal matchmaking would likely make me quit playing. I play multiplayer games to...well...play multiplayer. If I wanted to play a single player game, I'd play a different game.

The only caveat I would give is if someone DCs, I would be fine with them being replaced by a basic bot just to try to give those survivors left in the trial a fighting chance to do something since the bot can at least chew up a few seconds getting chased and hooked

  • She's good. I was a little worried since yesterday was her first 4th of July with me. I couldn't care less about fireworks but my neighbors love them and so it was constant booming all night over the weekend but Holly was unfazed. Though tomorrow we will attempt bringing her to the vet...

i remember watching video by coconut. Trickster on controller apparently has no recoil, so if you plug a controller into your computer, you can play trickster with no recoil knifes. No recoil knifes is easier than on PC with recoil knifes.

    -------------

His kill-rate is combination of being hard to play while having trash-tier rewards even if your good. most tricksters just hard-face camp hooks within 5-15 meters making him not an enjoyable experience as survivor. that's because you can down people in 30-40 seconds entire game through with showstopper(power) and survivor will still finish all 5 generators even if your aim is awesome.

towards trickster player, its like: what is the point in going for the chases when your going to get to same end game anyway from having no gen slowdown/4vs1 potential. He's amazing at facecamping because he has no cooldown/blade wipe animation when throwing his knifes, so he has like base-kit stbfl 20 stacks. basically insidious bubba 2.0.

His only solution to acquire 4vs1 is to slug, but since his 1vs1 is counterable by high-wall loop design of the game(in relationship to gen speed x chase time), slugging isn't too effective for him.

Is that just plugging a controller into a PC cause he absolutely has recoil on the console. Granted it was toned down since he was released but you do have to control his recoil on controller on console unless something changes since I last played him a month or two ago.

  • There are very few killers I feel like I have zero chance to win with unless the survivors are so incredibly bad that a child could have beaten them

Trickster is one of those killers

I cannot say for sure but the inability to really properly aim with him using my Xbox controller is a huge part of that. It would not shock me at all if I wasn't the only one who struggled to use him with the controller since BHVR seems to commonly forget that they are supposed to be developing a game for controller AND M&KB but evidently they forgot.

My buddy who also plays couldn't figure out why I had so much trouble when he could breeze through survivors with Trickster until he said he was on PC and I was on console and I saw how he could actually aim his throwing knives where I just give them vague suggestions on where I'm hoping they'll go.

  • Guess who's back!?! Back again!

    SHADY'S BACK!!!!

    Tell a friend!

...wait, who were we talking about?

  • If it's clear you're doing gens (which you were since it went from 4 to 1), I'll generally let them go.

But as a survivor, I recognize that the killer has no obligation to "play nice" just because my teammates were a bunch of jerkfaces. Sucks but whatchagonnado?

  • No

The RNG of who I am going to go up against is a large part of what makes this game so much fun. I'm also quite impatient with my waiting times in this game so I have no desire to sit around waiting when I could be playing the game.

    Snitches get Bonkches!

    *BONK*

  • Not DS. I'm generally fine with people doing that with DS because that means it's not going to come into play later in the match now. I'll certainly still go after them if there's no other targets besides them to go after but I won't go all Terminator on the situation and laser focus on taking them out.
