Dead Hard? More like...uh....DUMB Hard!
HA! GOT'EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEM!!!!!

I have so far killed one person as a killer. They killed themselves on hook.
I tried to save them but evidently the killer is not able to unhook survivors :(

Why are we playing any videogame?
Why are we actively spending our time on the Dead by Daylight forums?
Why are we alive?
What is the meaning of life?
To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women!
-
Because my life is sad and DBD makes me ha...makes me less sa...is something to do to pass the time.
-
Anyone who says it isn't busted either has no idea how to actually use it or they're liars. All it takes as a killer is to play a 4 survivor group who all don't DH into a brick wall to see how busted the perk can be.

Do it

Killers who tunnel know exactly who they have hooked.
Showing the killer the hook count will do nothing for them, but would help nice killers tremendously. Shame
That was my exact argument when people didn't want killers to have the hook counter but evidently BHVR feels differently :(

Literally, I'll sit there for a solid 30 seconds asking myself "is this their death hook? I don't wanna be a jerk" lol
I've let teams go when I've had six hooks before because my goldfish memory has already forgotten who is on a death hook and who is fine to hook and I'm so worried I'll death hook someone that I just let my own points burn to make sure I don't accidentally kill someone ๐
It's kind of stupid but I feel awful when I accidentally kill someone when there are 5 BPS Type offerings in play
-
I mean...why does it matter?
If someone has no intention of using them like you're saying, they'll forever sit in the inventory. Whether they're expired or not, someone not using the cakes still means they just sit there.
-
Unless a survivor is a jerkface to me (and at least one of them gives me a tasty treat), I try to just 8 hook the team and let them go.
Although I don't always remember who I hooked so I apologize in advance if I oopsy and death hook someone ๐
-
I mean... according to every Sluzzy thread ever created, this is how it always is...
-
No add-ons to my knowledge but there are plenty of perks that do. Just off the top of my head you've got Overcharge, Oppression, and that Storm one.

you'll have to remind me next year, we can't have things scheduled for whilst you're away
Well I guess the dates might change since someone in the family wants to go to some stupid concert thing that also takes place during the one family vacation we do each year... (Starting next year that is, this year that vacation dates are set in stone. Although I guess we're going golfing this year so I've got that going for me)
I'll make sure to keep you in the loop so that we may plan accordingly :D
-
Were you like me and created your account the day you started playing to complain about how stupid camping is? :D
Oh sweet summer Tippy...

Ish happens unfortunately. I'm still going to offer flans every time as more often than not, it works out in my favor

I am sorry for your loss :<
Happens every year. You'd think BHVR would finally see it and change everything for MY schedule but I guess not ๐ก
Does BHVR not realize that I'm the main character of life and therefore everything needs to change to fit my needs!?!?
-
I'm on vacation up north from the 18th - 25th :(
-
Me: Why are you tunneling me!?!? I didn't do anything. I'm not part of a SWF, I'm an innocent solo queue survivor!!!
OP:
-
Fun Fact; I originally put Holly pics in these kind of threads because the threads never survived for very long (since it's not people complaining about something or another, there's very little reason to post since there's nothing really to talk about).
I have a pic that failed as a good Holly pic but will make a good thread bump pic AND is a joke I want to tell but probably wouldn't have a good reason to...
So extra Holly pic plus a joke plus a thread bump!
Look, it's Holly in The Garden of Joy!
-
Here's my pic on the Series X
I'm pretty sure I'm in front of the breakable wall!
-
I'm starting to forget which pics I've shared and which I haven't. I should probably take more pictures of Holly!
I don't think I've shared Holly helping me Work From Home yet. Don't worry Holly, not like I needed that arm rest or my arm to do my job...

In fairness, I remember not getting nearly enough cakes on my survivor bloodwebs. I had cakes to spare on killers, but as survivor, I genuinely couldn't pull a cake every match.
This
The game is very stingy with cakes on the survivors side. Luckily for me I mainly play killer but the times I did play survivor made me understand why so many games didn't have 5 cakes...
Although as an incentive, if you get me as a killer survivors and at least one of you uses a cake, I generally won't kill anyone in the game (basically unless you go out of your way to try to be a jerk to me, I'll play normal but just not death hook anyone). Tippy appreciates survivors who share their cake with him and will reward you for it...
-
Camping (specifically proxy camping) is one of the most effective tactics a killer can do so...no, I don't question why killers do it.
I find camping painfully boring so I rarely will as a killer but the few times I do proxy camp, it works so damn well that it makes me question myself why I don't do it more often as survivors throw themselves at me ๐ . Or my favorite time when two survivors are playing chicken with me where I chase one a Little bit, turn around and chase the other a Little bit, then turn around and chase the first one a little bit. THREE survivors minimum are now not on the generators because neither survivor is willing to trade hooks but they won't just let the hooked person go either...

I'm fine with it, just humorous when people think I'm tunneling for hitting them and downing them after they bodyblock me going for their savior
This is my main issue
If you want to body block with BT, go for it. I don't think you shouldn't be "allowed" to or whatever. But if you do choose to go on the offense with a defensive perk, you've now put a target on your own back and shouldn't be shocked or mad that I have now decided to go after that instead.

Hmm, so do you believe this growth only happens during the endgame? So, even if a killer uses noed, he cant learn anything in the games where he indeed finishes of all survivors before gens are done?
And even if endgame comes, a kiler hasnยดt grown during the game?
If a killer uses only noed in a game, instead of the full array of metaperks, he is still risking nothing?
So, is the best way to grow in this game to be afk and only play the endgame, because thats where your growth is happening? Or is this just nonsence to push on a personal point of view?
I mean, noed is only relevant in the endgame, so how does it prevent you from improving during the rest of the game. maybe i am wrong, and you can explain that?
It's a copypasta (someone said that to mock a game journalist who had used a Mod to put an "Easy" mode in one of the Souls game and this Twitter user evidently took very poorly when they responded with what I wrote earlier in the thread). If anything, I am mildly mocking the OP for their stance (in jest of course! Everyone is allowed to think what they want about perks).
Personally I only use NOED when using a basic M1 killer. Just kind of an insurance policy if the survivors blow through gens as fast as possible because the M1 killer can have such a hard time competing in today's DBD.

I used to always be a Bond guy, but lately ive switched to Empathy and kinda like it more. The advantage of bein able to see whats goin on map-wide is worth the trade off to me. Either way, one of those is an absolute necessity.
On killer side, ive been enjoying Plaything lately. Even by itself, it offers a decent amount of early to late game slowdown. I underestimated how far ppl will go to get rid of their hexes.
Both are solid perks. I always leaned Bond though just because while a more limited range, it let's me find anyone on my team, not just the injured.
Which is super useful when we need to get a gen done ASAP.
But both are good. Really any information perk I feel like gets overlooked just because it's more of a passive benefit than an active one. People can SEE how DH saved them in that chase but not really how Bond allowed them to get together with that one survivor and finish that last generator just in the nick of time...
-
(Assuming you are Solo Queue)
Bond
Bond is such a wonderful information perk that I run it on damn near everyone. Am I hurt and need help? Bond will find me a buddy! Is someone hurt and needs my help? Bond will show me where my hurt future buddy is! Do I hear the terror radius and I'm not sure what's going on? Well that guy running around demonstrates that they're being chased and therefore I am good to just keep working on this generator. Am I running from the bad guy? Oh snap, I can see with Bond that my buddy is on that generator so instead of turning left to them, I'm gonna turn right!
Information is King in this game and Bond gives you the most bang for your buck when it comes to info.

But doesn't this apply to dead hard as well?
Realistically, it applies to every perk in the game. That's the entire point of perks; to help you either cover up a personal weakness or help you build a strength even stronger
(Also in case you didn't realize it, that's a copypasta from The Internet, Google it :D)

You cheated not only the game, but yourself. You didn't grow. You didn't improve. You took a shortcut and gained nothing. You experienced a hollow victory. Nothing was risked and nothing was gained. It's sad that you don't know the difference.

...so where are they
You know what, that's fair. I can't tease you like that and not offer up the good.
...now where did she go?
[Please Hold]
I had to zoom in cause she's out like a survivor getting hit by Knock Out and I don't want to risk waking her up but she's in her normal spot in front of the window with the heated blanket looking all adorable.
-
I do my very best to not tunnel in this game
Survivors who purposefully bodyblock me with BT are the one exception. I will just stand there and stare at them (it's funny how many of them realize what they're doing as they'll just stare back at me and either then try to bolt once they finally realize I know what they're doing or they'll realize they've been caught with their hand in the cookie jar and are just ready for their punishment) for the 16 seconds or whatever it takes and then smack them down again. Either they'll now have to burn a DS or they learned a valuable lesson about using a defensive perk offensively.
-
I imagine most of them are not thinking about it. They're either rage quitting (and potentially feeling dumb that they now have to wait 5+ minutes but that gives them time to cool off at least) or they're done anyway so they just say "Screw it" and leave early to go do whatever they planned on doing (in which case, they don't care about a 5+ minute penalty cause they're done playing the game either way).
-
I only have 10.9K upvotes :(
Clearly there is only one way to catch up and be more like Karu!
Incredibly thought provoking and useful posts about the state of the game? Suggestions for how to improve the game for both sides? Helpful attitude towards new players who might be getting frustrated instead of being a condescending jerk and mock them for their inexperience? A great attitude all around no matter how frustrated I might personally be at the game at times?
...this all sounds like a lot of work. Wait, I've got it!
MORE HOLLY PICS!!!!
-
It is a very fine meme!
-
"Oh no, a stealth killer! Better put on Spine Chill"
"Oh no, the doctor, better put on Calm Spirit"
"Oh no, Oni! Better put on Circle of Healing!"
"Oh no, Wraith/Hag! Better equip flashlights"
"Oh no, Plague! Better make sure to not equip any healing helper things"
"Oh no, Pig! Better get my snooter booper warmed up!"
Are you seeing the issue yet?
-
EDIT: I'm an idiot, I evidently didn't pay any attention to the thread when I wrote that up :D
As a survivor, I generally will leave them be and give the killer a kill at the end if I notice the bullying. I'll do my best to not actively participate with the bully squad but it might be a while before I even notice that I'm with a bullys squad. If I do notice the bully squad, I'll pound out generators as fast as I can to get this S show over with. I've never not unhooked the bullies but usually if I'm a solo with a bully squad, they're taking care of each other and I'm free to just hammer gens and get this game over with.
I have though at the end when I realized that my team is being a giant ass to the killer and given myself up for a free kill. Unfortunately a lot of the times the killer has given up by this point :( I've had more times than not where I wanted to give them a kill but they were just chilling in the corner not actively playing the game.

Oh, then it must have been a bug or something. I've only played on the map like 2-3 times on console and the map was extremely bright every time, so I don't really know. This was when the chapter first came out too.
The rest of the map is bright and anywhere in the house with a light is relatively bright (not as bright as outside but you can still see) but basically anything in that house with no light source is pitch black like that.

But i do all of that and hide if i can...why is hidding wrong, if you do bones, and do gens, and unhook, and even take protection hits? Because it all depends on the situation, and if the killer comes to my gen, i will hide, until he either found me or leaves again. Why is that bad exactly?
@Topic Gens. Latley, i get more teammates that are not gen allergics, and i escape most of the time easy. Nice i reached that mmr bracket.
You're doing gens so I'm not talking about you
I'm talking about the people who hide all the time. They might touch a gen once in a while so they can pretend like they're being helpful but if they even think that the killer might possibly be within a 50 foot area, they run and hide and stay that way until they know without a shadow of a doubt that the killer isn't coming back (and then hide a little bit more just in case).
Those are the people I want to do...anything...

@Aurelle said:
Yeah, but the weird thing is on console it's really bright (at least from the times I've played on it on console), but on PC it's very dark. The Haddonfield houses have the same issues.
I'm on Xbox and you can see my screenshot above. It is very much not bright ๐
-
Stop. F'ing. Hiding
You can do anything else. Go unhook something. Go do bones. Go do gens. Run in front of the killer and yell NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo when they're about to hit someone else.
Just...do something. Anything. Please.
-
I always believed in you! Good job!!!
I rarely get up to Iri 1 (killer is Iri 3 and Survivor is Gold 1 right now I believe).
I should probably stop throwing my life away doing low chance saves/running Blast Mine because it's funny and letting survivors go at the end instead of slaughtering everyone but where's the fun in that?
-
See, it's right there! Can you not see it? :D
